Amazing, intelligent, inspirational, and totally relates to the students very well. He is just awesome! Take him if you can. His tests are challenging, you need to know the material, but if you study and pay attention you will do fine. GREAT GUY!!

I made every 8am class and LOVED it! (I am not a morning person.) Films really drive home the lectures, but he's clear enough on his own. Take notes, lots of film questions on exams, but no essays! Very personable and funny.

Amazing professor, intelligent, hilarious, excellent mentor and bud. I recommend any of his courses. To have him supervise an intependent study or thesis, however, be prepared to put a lot of effort into snagging him for meetings. He cares, but he gets overcommitted. Fantastic nonetheless.

I was in his first COM 1000 class. He knew the material very well, but the test we a little off. About half of the test if from the book, and the other half is from the class. If you take this class, you need to go to class to pass. Grades on a curve, and drops the lowest test score. Funny in lectures. Overall... Good professor to have. Stay in...

Butler's a great guy, extremely helpful, pretty funny. Time-wise, though, don't expect your money's worth - he often cuts class short/comes in late and usually neglects to follow his own syllabus. Attendance is essential to passing - test definitions are usually word-for-word his own.

I was also in his first ever COM 1000 class. He played the "first college professor" role very well, made the new freshmen feel right at home.

I would recommend this guy to anybody, hands down. I have not taken any other class with a professor that can explain the material like him. He relates the material in a way that is easy to comprehend with real world examples. Good sense of humor too. Nobody tells it like Butler.

He is an ok teacher. A really nice guy but not the best teacher. His notes can be a bit hard to follow since he dosent use power point, but they are DIRECTLY from the book. Its a good idea to go to class, it usally does not last the whole 3 hours.

I'm not a huge fan of communication, but his class is very easy. Sometimes its hard to take notes because he tends to go a bit fast, but as long as you read the book and memorize terms you're fine.

Butler is the man. He's always giving a generous curve at the end of the semester. If he's available, take his class.

Jeff loves research and humor. He lectures using humorous examples. I am not sure if the tests are hard or the class makeup is a bit boring. I like Jeff as a person and teacher, however, the subject of the course can be a bit uninteresting. He seems to know that and makes the best out of it. Overall, I would recommend this teacher.

He is a nice guy and clear communicator but the tests were nothing like his notes and what he told you they were going to be over. During one test we also took an assessment and the majority of what he told us to study was on the assessment, which was very low to do to make himself look better.

Dr.Butler was an enthusiastic and very caring professor. This class seems like a waste of time, but it was required. He made it as interesting as it could possibly be. You have to know your stuff for the exams. The questions are tricky. I didn't do to hot on them even when I studied, but he gives a curve at the end. I would recommend him.

I took it on Wed night from 6-9 but we were always out at 8 or earlier. Very funny teacher. makes class fun. 3 tests and comprehensive optional final. Tests are semi difficult.

He's the nicest guy ever. The class consists of 3 tests and the final, of which he drops the lowest grade. The tests are easy as long as you read the chapters; the lectures aren't too helpful; he crams the test material into 2-3 days before the test. He's usually late to class or just cancels.

Dr. Butler is the best, always happy to answer questions, and he's great at giving examples to make the concepts clear.

Butler will rock your world. He knows what he is teaching through and through, and demonstrates an equal amount of enthusiasm toward teaching it and making it fun. Tests are not difficult with apt preparation (read the text, take notes, that's it.) and on top of that you learn the neatest things going to his lectures. I cannot recommend him enough

I have taken two classes with this professor and plan to take a third one. He is caring and easy going. This is a good class if you are a good note taker. He mainly lectures but he gives a lot of good examples to help you understand and is always open to questions. Book rarely used unless he specifies certain pages to look at.

He's ALWAYS willing to help you, no matter if it's regarding your grade, your roommate problems, or something in your personal life. If you can possibly take this man's class, for god's sake DO IT!

Great class! I was expecting it to be kinda boring but was surprised by how much fun it was! Prof Butler is so nice and entertaining and made the class a pleasure to attend. Advice: Go to class and write down what he says to, study your notes and skim thru book before test, and stay for movies- they're actually interesting. Easy A/B.

EASIEST CLASS EVER!!!!! we watched movies and had easy discussions. Tests were very simple. They were 20 questions true/false. I think everybody in the class got an A. I ended with a 99 % in his class for Lead Scholars. Guaranteed A if you TAKE HIS CLASS!!

Really nice guy. Never had any problems with him. You have to go to class and watch the movies he shows. He will test you on the movies. Always available to help. Offered to do advising for anyone that needed it. He will never keep you in class any longer than needed. Does have a tendency to cancel class with no warning. Take him!

This is the first night time lecture class that I had no problem attending...it is so much easier and clearer to listen to his lectures than read the book and he never keeps you in class for the full time mine was 6-5:50 and we never stayed past 7:30..AWESOME

Jeff's a good guy. He's kinda like the absent minded professor and can get lost in his lectures real easy. He lets our early AM class go early all the time, Will miss class w/o warning, doen't email- but gives you #'s to get ahold of him. I enjoy his class, make sure you know your stuff-he words a little differantly on his tests

okay, not to be mean or anything, but butler needs to retire. he is SO SUPER NICE but thats about it. he gets lost in his lectures, his tests dont make any sense. i have tkn him 2x already and havent met 1 person with an A. he tells u not to read the book but thats the only way to make some sort of sense out of the lectures.

I don't know if there was a textbook assigned to his Lead class, but if there was we did not use it. This was my favorite class by far of this year, maybe even of college!!! He is such a great professor and he really loves his students!!! I hope that I can find a way to take him again!

Butler is funny, really willing to help his students, and his notes are read perfectly for outline format. I highly suggest taking him if you get the chance.

Great teacher and just and all around nice guy. I took his 3-hour class, which he usually let after an hour and a half to two hours. He made it surprisingly tolerable. Take notes, because his tests are based strictly on his lectures. I only showed up for maybe half the classes, pulled a B, definitely could have had an A if I had gone more.

I took his Research Methods class, which was supposed to be 3 hours long but he always let us out at least an hour early. He is so nice and really a great guy. One of the best teachers in the communications department.

Took him in the Honors section of course. When he says the speeches can be on any topic, he means ANY TOPIC. Pretty fair grader when comes to speeches. No one gets below a B if they try. He rounds exams, but more importantly, he's willing to work with you one-on-one to get things right. Id take him again in a heartbeat for any communication class.

Absolutely the nicest man you will ever meet! Genuinely cares about your opinions and takes time to get to know everyone in the class. Goodhearted man- as long as you participate in discussions and do activities you are guaranteed an A. Would love to take his class again!

He is a really great guy. I took him in honors. Our class got some good discussions going after the speeches. He is very willing to help his students. Nobody gets below a "B" as long as you try. If you put in extra effort by going to his office hours and asking him how you can improve after class, then you can get an A.

Take this LEAD class!! Butler is an amazing guy, and i am so happy that i got a chance to learn from him. we watched movies and discussed the leadership. only 2 tests, which are simple as long as you pay attention. there is no way to get anything but an A, and you will enjoy coming to class, guaranteed! Worst Tests on the planet. We had one tests with 28 questions and 25 were true and false! Very Nice man. Great Teacher and lecturer, hes just a hard tester. I managed a B in the course, but it took a lot of hard work! I actually learned some stuff though!

Such a sweet old man! Tests were MUCH more difficult than expected. Definitely go to class and definitely take your notes. Don't pull the, "i'll study the night before" because trust me, it doesn't work. Overall good class, but devoted more time than expected.

If you want to pass come to class sit in front and take notes. He goes a bit fast so you will have to ask him to repeat some words. He will tell you whats on the test and what to right down so study all of it and you should get a decent grade. 3 test only attendence not mandatory but like I said go if you want to pass

Prof. Butler is an awesome teacher who makes the class more enjoyable with his sense of humor. He is very caring about his students. I do not get the people talking about his tests. Go to class, take good notes and STUDY! He even gives you his home phone number in case you have any questions. Dr. Butler is a very respectable faculty member!

Professor Butler is great! He knows what he's doing and has the best sense of humor (which is good for a 7:30 A.M. class). Tests are straight from lecture (which is based on the textbook. I got it for $20 at CB&S.) And he usually lets you out early. Not computer literate but accessible in office hours. I would take him again in a heartbeat.
