Very clear, very informative, very friendly. I rather enjoyed this class, though I really didn't expect to, given the subject. I came away really feeling like I'd learned quite a bit.

easy lecture. get slides online. must attend class. not all the information is on the slides. dont need a book. do the study guides. test can be kinda hard but not the worst. four short papers, no biggie.

His class is easy. You can get the notes online, but you should still show up to class cuz he'll explain the material more in depth. His tests aren't too hard if you go over your notes. There are four short papers that are easy. Just cite an extra outside source and you'll get full credit on them.

Really nice teacher, a little quirky when he gets into his subject you can tell he really likes it! Nice guy and tests are fairly easy, just read the notes. four really small papers, 100% is easy with an outside source.

I really liked Dr. Calton. Even though his stuttering can put you to sleep sometimes, hes really informative on his stuff. Tests are ALL on lectures and the papers are really easy. I got a F on the second test and still managed to get a B in the class! Study all your lecture slides and notes from class and you will do fine.

good teacher. provides the book in the library so you dont need to buy it. need to write a few short assignments. lectures are power point and boring. but you can download the slides and study guides. dont need to show up to class. easy.

Dr. Calton is great. Lectures are clear and power point slides are provided on WebCT. Material and lectures were very interesting, but if you want an A you need to study. Note: don't interrupt lectures with your questions, it agitates him. Ask after class. 1 quiz/week from text, 4 total exams from lecture exclusively. Great class.

This is a really good class. It's not the easiest class, but it's not too hard. Some of the chapters in the book are dreadfully boring. But I recommend this class. I actually feel like I learned a lot of interesting stuff. Calton is nice too.

This guy can explain to you with crystal clarity how your brain works. Of course, it will need to be working while he is doing the explaining. He has that great combination of bieng wicked smart, really organized, and easy to understand.

I thought the class was fine, I used an older version of the text. I seemed to do alright with it. Lectures were okay with only few side tracks due to questions from the class. I focused my studying on the lecture material, but you did need text for webct quizes.

The best neuroscience teacher I have ever had. It was a privilage to take a class from him. Hope to take ALL the classess he teaches.

This teacher is crazy! Overall, his class is not easy but approachable. But not for the final!!!! For the last two weeks, He has been stuffing four chapters to us. He just wants to cover all his notes, but does not care whether we could absorb the materials or not. I used to b ok with his class, but now I really hates him coz of the final!!

Great Teacher, interesting material! Attend class everyday to get a good grade on tests and read book for quizzes, not the easiest class but I would take another one of his classes again

He makes you read the chapters by giving quizes every week, but the test are multiple choice and he lectures on the material... Yes you have to study but over all he is a good teacher!

Weekly quizzes not hard, based of text. Exams were based off lecture, not hard. Extra credit offered in lecture (helps a lot). I'd recommend him

Calton is great, he knows his stuff and his lectures are interesting. He offers tons of extra credit, you have to try to fail this class. It's easy, straightforward and very informative.

This guy is so smart and very fair. He makes a somewhat challenging subject really interesting. His tests are easy if you study and he offers EC in case you don't do so well on one. Strongly recommend his class.

A very interesting class if you don't mind basic biology. Took this class during the 3-week intersession. Didn't use a book, lecture slides only. Class is not mandatory, but it might as well be since he gives quizzes at the end of each class. I enjoyed the subject and the format of the class. I would take him again.

Calton is the best professor ever! He is clear and engaging. He posts his power points online but you still need to come to class - if you want to pass! The online weekly quizzes are based soley on the book and his four exams are based soley on lectures. Also, he gives EC quizzes at the end of each class - up to 50 points which is a full letter gra

I loved professor Calton! I took him during winter intercession and thought his drugs and behavior class was really interesting. He does a great job teaching the material and keeping it interesting. I heard the winter class is a lot easier than the regular semester class. He uses powerpoints.

Dr. Calton is an amazing professor. The class is NOT easy, but with a study group and copious notes you'll do well. The extra clicker points he offers at the end of every class will raise you an entire letter grade, so don't miss class! Formatting is simple, tests=lecture and quizzes=book. He also holds study groups before every exam. Recommend!

He was great! Loves what he teaches which is a great thing in any professor. The subject it self is not everybody's cup of tea, BUT you will get a good grade if you read what he says, show up to class and partake in the "clicker" quizzes. Not an "easy" class but I mean come on', it's psychology, either it's your cup of tea or not.

Psych 117 with Dr. Calton is MUCH easier than 118. If I retook a class with him after taking a nightmare class with him, that tells you a lot! He is a great & intelligent professor. Attendance & reading is mandatory though

Calton is one of the best professors I have had. He helped me whenever I needed it. Sure, his class is hard but he is there during office hours. He is very clear about the material he teaches. Any other professor teaching intro to neuro & cog. neruo wouldnt do nearly as a great job as him! Intro to Neuro: dont need book. Cog Neuro: book is needed!

I love Mr. Calton. I have read some of the other reviews about how hard he is but all you have to do is listen and take notes and study and you can get a good grade. He is REALLY good at explaining things so you understand. GREAT GREAT teacher.

I enjoyed prof Calton's class. It's all lecture based, so you'll want to go to class in order to get a good grade. All exams are based on lecture notes however, the quizzes that are due online are from the information in the book, so you'll still need the book if you want to do well on the quizzes.

Psych118 Cog Neuro is a heavy, tough class. Calton is extremely knowledgable, can seem bland but all the information coming from his lectures are important. Must attend class to pass, very lecture based even w/ well-made powerpoint. I was the first class not to use a textbook, which I would've appreciated one, but he makes sure you get all the info

Prof Calton is super chill and his lectures are fun and informative. If you attend class he does TopHat quizzes for extra credit which can boost your grade up to an entire letter grade. The subject is hard but if you follow his study guides and study for a few weeks before the exams and you'll do just fine.

Dr. Calton is very easy. He gives quizzes only, that material is done with and you move on and doesn't have accumulative exam. He provides extra credit which involves interacting with students about subject matter. He gives you lecture material slides and study guides. Very straight forward, assignments due M/W/F, very nice and organized. Take him!

This professor was amazing. The class was very easy to pass. We did all of our reading online through Connect and answered questions. Then we had short quizzes on the material we read so we knew what to expect. There were lecture videos and some informational videos that we watched and wrote a paper reflecting on the topic. I recommend this teacher

Great professor, really knowledgeable about this subject. I thought 117 would be a walk in the park, but theres actually a lot of bio material and Dr. Calton does a great job of explaining and repeating so that it really sticks. Plenty of extra credit, So far Ive raised my grade by almost a whole letter grade. Pretty funny too, Highly recommend!!

The weekly readings go with the weekly quizzes, but they do not correlate with what he lectures so it can be confusing at times. His exams are only on his lectures so the book does not help at all with that. He uses Tophat at the end of every class to give extra credit so definitely go to class even tho attendance isn't mandatory.

My biggest problem with a class is when the teacher's expectations are not clear. Dr. Calton's expectations were clear and grading rubrics were clear. If you completed the assignments as he asked you will get a good grade. He had reasonable expectations and I LOVE the opportunity for extra credit.

Halfway through the summer class and I love everything about it. Really well structured, great lectures in which he explains things very clearly, and the textbook is interesting. There is a lot of work (quiz for every lecture and chapter) to keep up with, but it's very manageable. Definitely recommend for a summer class.

Dr. Calton is a straight-forward and solid professor. His lectures are clear and informative. He uses films to supplement the material. It is easy to be successful in his class as long as you watch the lectures, read, and take notes. He offers plenty of extra credit. Not a lot of pizazz, but he knows his stuff & cares about your understanding.

Professor Calton is one of a kind, he really takes time to explain his students the materials until they understand them. His lectures are catching and want one to learn more and more about the topic. His enthusiastic approach in delivering difficult materials in an interesting and understandable way is terrific.

This class was not easy but Professor Calton was very informative and explained each chapter well in his videos. The class was organized and he graded based on his rubrics. If you put the work in you will pass. I would definitely recommend this professor!!!

Professor Calton's quizzes are not easy, but the material is interesting so it's manageable. He commented on each discussion board post, which I liked. The best thing about this class was that the discussion board posts were optional, and you could earn quite a bit of extra credit by posting and responding to others.

Prof. Calton made this class do-able during a pandemic all the assignments he gave a week can be a bit time consuming however they can all be finished within a day. Quizzes every week with an occasional writing assignment. His lectures are thorough and for the most part short followed by a quiz. He also gives extra credit weekly

Professor Calton was a great professor. I received a "B" due to lack of paying attention to the actual textbook. There are extra credit opportunities every week! I failed the first exam 4 out of 20, but was able to make up a lot of that via extra credit assignments that were easy.

This class will require you to read the chapters thoroughly . There were up to 3 points of extra credit offered every week, without that I don't think I would have passed this class. There were weekly quizzes but no heavy exams which was nice. Sometimes he would post in dicussion board questions that were on the test. You will pass, do the work.

I loved his lectures. You need the book to get access to certain assignments. Clear grading criteria and you will need to study. If you put in the work, you will do well in the class. It's not an "easy A" class but it's not really hard either as long as you absorb the material. Very interesting course that changed my views on certain drugs.

I am taking this as an asynchronous class and I can only recommend him. His lectures are very clear and the subject matter is certainly interesting for any psychology major student. Everything is delivered in a straight-forward manner in this class. I really wish more profs would lay out their classes like he does.

The best upper-division psych professor! Tough class but you can be successful if you follow the study guides and show up to class. DONT MISS LABS!

Don't let any negative reviews scare you- Dr. Calton is a great professor. His Drugs & Behavior class is very interesting! It's a traditional lecture-style class, but questions and participation are welcome. I was nervous about only being graded on 4 noncumulative exams, but if you go to class, take notes & study for exams, you'll do really well!

This is one of my favorite classes, test get a little difficult but the information is so interesting its a balance. Dr. Calton does a good job at integrating relatable material into the coursework. I wish I could have gotten into more of his courses.

Loved this class. Dr Calton did a great job of fitting a ton on material into a 6 week summer semester. Class moved fast, as expected. I felt grading was fair and reflected my effort. Gives extra credit opportunities. Would take again.

Cool class forsure! the subject was very interesting but don't get it wrong once you get into the anatomy of this class be prepared to study. other than that the teacher was knowledgeable and the lectures were informative and had all the answers for the quizes weekly dis post | weekly quizes | a few exams | going off memory I think theres a paper!

He is seriously so cool and highly educated and knowledgable within the field! For the class, you have to attend lectures because there is no textbook and looking at the slides IS NOT enough information for you to know everything he wants you to know. He makes learning interesting and fun. Make sure you listen to what he talks about during lectures

This class requires effort but Dr. Calton wants you to succeed, he provides study guides and review sessions for the exams & he curves. You have to attend class b/c his PPTs only give limited info & you have to read the textbook b/c the exams pull q's from both lecture & the book. Offers lots of extra credit through TopHat q's, worth paying the $15

Great class if you are interested in the subject. It is a harder course but very informational. There were 4, 50 question exams that received 5-10 point curves, which are not the easiest, but he provides study guides to help study and are pretty reflective of the exam. There is an extra credit program costing $20 I would HIGHLY recommend getting.

Be prepared to study. He provides a study guide. Fill it out and do not ignore its details.
