Lots of notes, but he is extremely enthusiastic and a relatively easy professor. I have and do recommend the class.
First day I thought uh oh but came back second day and glad I did, he made history fun. There were people in class that started out d's and f's and he draws you in, you can’t help but get a good grade and the material is fun. I guarantee you will laugh your head off in this class, great teacher!
I hated History with all of my heart, until I had Dr. Carlisle. Hes a great professor that is very fair and makes learning History a lot of fun! I highly recommend this prof.
GREAT TEACHER. VERY FUNNY AND KNOWS WHAT HE IS TALKING ABOUT.
Awesome teacher. this was the first class i took in college and i loved it. he's a great professor and i highly reccomend his class.. he's hilarious and extremely nice. you can't help but like this class.
Great guy. He loves what he's teaching. And that could be contagious enough to make you study. Polish up your memory though. You'll need it for the tests.
I took this as an intersession course, not the easiest thing, but he gave lots of bonus points to help pad your grade and actually made the material interesting. I pulled overnighters studying for both of the tests and ended up with B's on both. There is just ALOT of material to get through!! The reading assignments are really hard to get through!!

Carlisle is a great prof! i would take more class from him if i could! i hated history but now i kinda like it!
He is very funny and does not even try to be
This class is a bit demanding and can be overwhelming at times, but he makes it easy by making it interesting. An absolutely great professor, he really reaches out in his teachings, he talks like he was actually there in that time period. Keep up on the studying- definately don't wait until the week before because there is a lot of information.
makes the material interesting, makes it clear, and he is pretty funny
Prof. Carslisle understands this subject very well. His explanations are clear and he adds an element of humor into the 'story-telling' of history. Come to class, pay attention, take good notes & you will enjoy the teaching and get a good grade. I would take him for another class if I needed to.
took his jan intercession class. really recommend it. You have to study a lot for the tests but that goes for any intercession. you can tell he really enjoys teaching.
Very humorous and makes history not boring unlike many history teachers. Tells you what you need to know, and teaches in a way that doesn't require you to follow along with a book. He doesn't assign homework, but you need to study for the weekly quizzes and the three tests. The tests can be a bit difficult, but they are balanced out with quizzes.
Oh my gosh. Tests are hard as crap if you don't study. Studying is the best thing to do. But he is super nice and he is VERY interesting. Even if I had flunked his class I would still go back because he is THAT awesome.
Dr. Carlisle's class is very straightforward. He lectures. He gives you about 30 pages to study from the textbook. And you have a short quiz each week from a small book of biographies. That's it. Come to class and take notes. You'll make an A like I did. He's funny and energetic! AWESOME CLASS!
He is a great professor. You have to do your reading assignments or you will not pass the quiz over the chapters. Tests are pretty hard if you don't study but if you read and make note cards you will make an A.
THE BEST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE!
He's a great professor and you don't enjoy history with him, you won't with any one. Most of the tests are from a list of terms he gives you on the first day so you'll know exactly what to study.
Prof. Carlisle is the best history teacher I've ever had. He makes it interesting which helps you learn it better. His tests are pretty straight-forward and easy if you study. I'd love to take a class from him again if I could!
Great teacher. His lectures are great and make for easy not taking. There are weekly quizes over a short story about an event in history and three tests each semester that come from the vocabulary, which he gives in the lecture and about thirty pages from the text book. He's very entergetic and makes class fun
im taking it as an intercession class, real easy, dont have to read the text book, only do readings for quizzes which wont be showed up on the test later. test info comes from the all the notes taken in class, video exercises which is really easy, he drops lowest quiz and doubles up on the highest exam...take it as an intersession class
Very Entertaining Professor. Reminds me of a large George Carlin. Only without the cussing. GREAT CLASS!!!!
he's nice. BUT. the test is so HARD. multiple choice+essay+fill in blank. dont expect a good grade, if you dont read the textbook.
Great professor! Lectures are interesting and never boring. Tests consist of m.c., essay of at least 2 questions, and fill in the blank. Study your notes because you'll need to, read assinged chapter for quizzes, show up and you should make a good grade. I wish he was teaching more classes. Sign up for him!
Great class! He makes historical events hillarious and keeps your attention if you are easily distracted like me. I took HIST1483 as a summer class, and it was tough, but in no way impossible, because he makes things clear enough for anyone to understand. Fantastic Professor!
He is a very funny professor. His tests are extremely hard. Study every thing he tells you to.
He is a very nice pprofessor. His class is hard. You need to really study to make a good grade. Tests are HARD!
this class was really easy! just attend class and take good notes and make notecards then you can make an A like i did. he gives you a chapter to read but it is really straightforward quizzes
If you study hard enophe you will pass. I had an F going in to the final and made a C in the class!!! I was studing by fire light because of that ice storm we had. Anyway he is great and I wish he would teach Oklahoma Hist cause I want to take it. TAKE HIM! And if you have the choice between pre or post take post!!! HE ROCKS
entertains the class well, keeps the attention of students, testing wise very difficult and hard to understand. one portion of his test are fill in the blank with no word bank. the word bank could help the scores on the test.
AMAZING TEACHER!! very enthusiastic and easy to understand! Test are difficult esp mutiple choice since he doesnt teach from the book,& an essay is half the test grade! DONT MISS CLASS or youll be lost, all the information comes from lecture notes. I would love to have him as a professor again!!
He is a great history teacher! i do not have any interest in history and he made it worth my time. You do have to study but he tells you what he expects from you. I would definately take him again especially if he taught government.
He is a great teacher! he makes class fun...he really gets into his lectures he makes things easy to understand!i fi could i would take his class all over again he is a GREAT teacher!
I loved this professor! He was hilarious and a little out there. He made history interesting, babbled quite a bit but overall a good professor. I would recommend him! You have to memorize TONS of stuff but test aren't too hard. Show up to class and take notes to get an A.
He is a very nice guy, he will help you whenever you need it. And he test you on the lecture, not the book.
Such a GREAT professor. Lot's of memorization for tests, but as long as you pay attention and study, you will pass with flying colors! I hated history until I had him, but he made it so interesting. I would definitely recommend him to anyone!
Interesting guy. I really liked this class. His lectures kept my attention- but watch out in the morning, he can be kind of loud and animated. His tests were over the lecture material so it's good to pay attention to the small details for possible extra credit points. I'd recommend attending as much as possible.
His lectures are exciting and he keeps your attention (great for 3 hour long evening classes). He lets you know what will be on the tests from the get go. Very helpful and responds to emails in a timely manner. Most of the information on the tests are from lectures. If you attend every class it would be near impossible to get less than an A!
Awesome Teacher! Definitely take him if you need an upper lever general ed class that needs to transfer to OU. Mostly weekly quizzes out of a book, and he even let you replace a grade by doing reviews for presentations done in class!
Prof. Carlisle was very animated in his lectures, which was excellent b/c history has a tendency to put me to sleep. We would have to take a quiz every week from a chapter in the American Realities book, but used the actual textbook for one reading assignment the whole semester. 2 tests the whole semester, made it difficult to be fully prepared.
I hate history but i actually enjoyed his class. He made things interesting. Most all of the test comes from his lecture. He gives you certain pages to read from the book. But you do have to read stories from your 2nd book and take quizzes once a week from that. Ended with an A!
THE TEACHING STYLE OF THE HIS IS EXCELLENT BUT YOU SHOULD ATTEND HIS ALL CLASSES BEACUSE WHATEVER COMES IN THE EXAM IT WILL FROM LEACTURE.
THE TEACHING STYLE OF THE HIS IS EXCELLENT.
HIS CLASS NOTES ARE VERY IMPORTANT FOR THE EXAMS.
The Coolest Pro. at OCCC!! had him in the summer for hist up to civil war, he rocked that class so had to take him again for latin america, tough class but he is extremely helpful, work hard and you will get an A, don't and you will fail.
He tells it like he was there when it happened. Very vivid, very dramatic. Makes it memorable. You hadly can forget. Then there are the helpful hints and constant quizzes: makes you sit up.
Great teacher!!! As long as you are in class and take notes you will pass. Makes history interesting, and enjoyed taking his class!
He is an excellent teacher! Very vivid and discriptive. He is very animated. He is probably a little too laid back. He allows students to take tests after the test dates. I've learned a lot in his class and really enjoy his teaching method. As long as you take good notes you'll make an A.
Make flashcards for his class, if you do the tests will be a lot easier.
I really enjoyed this class. The teacher was great! He has a great passion for history and it shows. Very animated and funny! Take a lot of notes. Flash cards are helpful!
Loved his class! Let's you know what is expected. He keeps it at a students level. Teaching you but not doing your homework for you and makes it fun to learn. Highly recommended teacher!
I loved his class!!!! I look forward to this class and it makes my day. He makes history interesting and fun. Highly recommend him.
I love his class! He is a grest professor. I highly advise flash cards.
Every Monday there is a quiz based on the reading of 1 or 2 chapters from Amer Real. There were a total of 13 quiz's, but only the top 10 count. There were 3 exams during the semester. Your highest exam score is doubled. Each exam is worth 100 points, and the top 10 quiz's are worth 100 too. Pay attention, buy flash cards, and show up. You'll pass!
Previous rating is absolutely correct! I HATE history, but Carlisle is so animated, you can't help but to get involved and learn something. He is very fair and helpful. If I had any more history to take, it would be with him. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PROFESSOR!
GREAT teacher.! history is a very boring subject i must say but Carlisle makes this subject bery interesting.! he is a funny guy, makes the class enjoyable. take EXTRA notes, and read your chapters and you'll be GOOD.!!!
So funny! I literally laughed every week. He makes this class so fun and enjoyable. He should consider stand up historic comedy. Has a cute smile too ;o)
He made History so enjoyable!! It was like listening to a story. He is hilarious and he is fair too. FLASH CARDS are the key to success in his class. Review the flashcards every week, and you will do great!
Prof. Carlisle is the funniest teacher I've EVER had!!! He makes learning History SO fun & I think that is very difficult to do...b/c History normally bores me to tears! His quizzes are pretty easy but be sure to read the chapter & do the identification topics. ALSO keep up with flash cards! They make a HUGE difference on test grade! Good professor
He was a good teacher went slow enough for notes and fast enough to not get me irritated. How ever he's pretty monotone. Which made it difficult for me stay focused
Mr. Carlisle has made history interesting. He is the absolute funniest prof.I have ever had.You will absolutely have a blast in his class.I recommend that you take this course in a 16 week class.I took it in a 2 week intercouse class, and its so much it just wears you out.None the less either way Mr. Carlisle will make it fun.Thank you Mr. Carlisle
Took this class as 2 week intercession, it was a lot of information in that time frame but Dr. Carlise made it fun and interesting! If I were History major I would take every class he taught.
Prof. Carlisle was really helpful on what grade you I wanted to achieve. I took the 2 week intercession class. He also would repeat stuff on the lecture if we didn't understand it the first time. Make sure you read the book. Also have packs of index cards with you. Those index cards will be helpful on your exams!
Awesome professor...I took the 2 week fast track class..he's not easy but he does make it interesting and he is a lot of fun...I hated history prior to this class and I can honestly say that I would not mind taking his class again..ty Dr. Carlisle for the experience.
Very Hard, not good for a once a week class. tests 20 multiple choice,15 fill in the blanks with no word bank,1 essay question worth 50% of the test grade. Nice guy but too vague and too hard to study for tests. Half of the people in my class are close to failing! Need a recorder and alot of time to study if you take him! I was very disappointed!!!
I took Mr. Carlisle's History 1483 class. And all I gotta say is that he is an excellent teacher. You can tell that he loves to teach. Everday class he teaches with such great enthusiasm and exctement. Also he is incredible funny(it makes learning the terms a lot easier)If you get Carlisle, you are in good hands. Class is easy and fun. A++++++
Prof. Carlisle is awesome. I took his american history up to the civil war class. I had him three days a week for 16 weeks and every day of class I enjoyed. He definitely has a love for history and can even make you love it too. His lectures are both interesting and funny. I would definitely recommend him.
LOVED this class. It was the only college class I've taken and been disappointed that it was coming to an end. He made class interestig every day, and while you did have to study a little bit for tests, it wasn't anything too difficult. He counts your best test grade twice, and replaces your lowest test grade if your quiz grades are higher.
Prof. Carlisle is awesome! This is a really fun class, and it is a bummer when it comes to and end. This class if full of information that is presented in a very enthusiastic and entertaining way!
This professor is extremely efficient and entertaining in his teaching style. He made a 2 week course very bearable with minimal reading, and only two exams (may be different for full semesters). If I had to take more history courses, I would definitely choose Professor Carlisle.
Prof Carlisle was great!! He was animated, delivered the information with passion and was more than willing to help. He answered emails promptly and i will assuredly take him again!! Recommend him to anyone!
Great Teacher, I would recommend him for history 1483 before the civil war. He taught the class with passion. He really enjoys teaching and helps you understand anything you dont understand. Although it takes some effort to complete his class, he makes it enjoyable.
Just completed his class for fall of 2012. He is a funny guy that is really passionate, and very vocal. His course had 2 tests, and a quiz every week. The quizzes just required simple reading from the text, and test are solely his lectures. I highly recommend, and I am taking a course with him next semester.
Absolutely the best college professor you will ever have! I was never interested much in history before his class but he makes it so exciting! He is hilarious and very approachable if you have any questions. I HIGHLY recommend him :)
Great Professor! Just took him for intersession 1483 to the civil war and it was a great class. I was nervous about taking an intersession class but he makes it really interesting. Only two test and five quizes all of which are easy to prepare for.
Carlisle makes learning as simple and easy as possible. He gives a list of terms over all of the material he is going to cover. Doesn't require the memorization of dates. Know the list of terms and make an A on the test. A great mix of multiple choice, fill in the blank and you get to choose your essay question out of three options. BEST TEACHER!
I took this class as an intercession to get through my history requirement quickly because I've never cared much for the subject. Prof. Carlisle really changed that for me for the first time ever. He does a great job of making the material interesting and is a funny man. Take him if you love history or even if you hate it. You'll be glad you did!
I took this class as a 2 week intercession. I wish I could have Carlisle teach me more subjects! His class was very straightforward. He gives you a list of terms you MUST know for the test. The essay portion of his exams usually pertain to a main topic of his lecture and he gives you possible prompts beforehand. Carlisle is always enthusiastic.
Dr. Carlisle is an awesome professor he really knows his stuff and he makes the info so easy to understand with his quirky sense of humor would take his class again if I could
I wish he can be in every single courses.
Carlisle is one of the best teachers I have ever had. I took his history 1483 class a year ago & he has been the most enthusiastic, passionate & most fun professor!! Now being at OU and going through a string of diff. instructors, nobody can beat Carlisle. Wish he taught more classes.
Excellent professor! Had for pre civil war. I always hated history until this class. Excellent lectures, does everything but act everything out and dress the part. Very engaging teacher. 3 exams from lectures and quiz out of book each week. Wish he taught the rest of my classes. Doesn't test on dates. HIGHLY recommend. Never a dull moment.
Very challenging class but one of my favorite I've ever taken. You must show up, and you must study. A lot. But you will actually learn. I never did super great on the quizzes in this class, but if you do well on the exams, you'll be fine.
Professor Carlisle is HILARIOUS and easy. His classes are engaging, and he provides a lot of easy extra credit opportunities. All you need to do is pay attention in class and read a few pages of the book once a week. I took him for U.S. History through the Civil War. I HIGHLY recommend Professor Carlisle.
Pre Civil War. Course had a very large work load and difficult exams. Professor has an engaging and humorous teaching style; Professor was very helpful and kind. Learned a lot. Would recommend.
He Teaches Well But It Is A Very Hard Class. You Have A Quiz Every week And Only Two Exams A Semester. Quizzes And Exams Are Very Hard. He Does Not Email You Back When You Email Him. Unless You Are Majoring In History Then I Would Not Recommend Him!
Great professor, you can tell he knows what he is teaching. Multiple choice quiz every week over the small book you are told to buy. The actual textbook does not get used once! 2 tests that are very challenging and do require studying for! gives opportunity for bonus points and extra credit.I would take his class again.
He kept the class entertaining and it was easy to understand. I highly recommend him!
Does not provide the information that will be on the test
I loved his class first of all because he was funny, and he made the lectures comprehensive. He goes at a steady pace, will answer any questions you may have, and is all about his students. However, if you don't attend his class, don't expect to pass. Take notes, because those will be your big tool to pass. I passed the class with a B average
Dr. Carlisle is an awesome professor. He is great at teaching and made learning fun. While i was not sure what to major in, he inspired me to choose history. I am honored to have had the chance to learn from him.
Really great professor! Knows the material well and is willing to answer any questions. Weekly quizzes that require reading about 12-15 pages, but it isn't bad. Lectures are good, but you have to listen and take notes. Tells you what the test and writing portion will be over, but if you have good notes, you'll be fine. Really funny, too.
He is so entertaining. he lectures all class but keeps you awake. his tests are mult. choice, fill in the blank, and one essay but he will specifically tell you what information is needed. He will even give you extra credit if he is taking a long time grading an exam. Very nice guy!
I took Carlisle for a history for a two week course. This class requires a lot of reading but the reading was pretty interesting for me. I would recommend taking him for any history class.
Absolutely hated history before this class. He is very funny and makes it interesting surprisingly. Just do the readings, show up to class, take notes, and you'll get an A! Highly recommend him for May intersession!
I enjoyed his class very much, even though his a though grader his very clear. My advise to new students read and study!
I had no interest in History but his lectures are interesting as well as entertaining. He is a great professor although at times he spoke faster than I could write. The first day he tells you what is expected and how you will be graded. All you have to do is be there and do the work. Read, study and review notes. I highly recommend him!
I took 1943 history class in 2 weeks and so glad I took it with Carlisle. Print the powerpoints, take notes, and show up. ALSO, you do have to know a lot of terms for the 2 tests (if you take the 2 week course), I made flashcards and it helped tons!!! Do the work and listen and you can get that A. I needed only one of the books.
Explains how you will be graded. Show up to class pass. I promise this is the key. If you don't attend there is no way. He is not sympathetic at all so if you plan on crying out your life story to him, you're waisting your time. If you attend and take notes, I can guarantee you'll pass easy.
Mr. Carlisle is an amazing professor, super funny and entertaining. I took his History1483 class and I loved it. Mr. Carlisle makes the lectures very fun and interesting, however, you do need to take notes and study them to pass the exams. Plus don't miss class. There is a lot of information specially names of people, places, and treaties.
Mr. Carlisle is an amazing teacher. He is super funny and keeps you interested. I took his intercession class and learned more in that 2 weeks then ever before. I advice to make the flash cards. You must attend though; his notes are crucial to passing. I would advise writing the test essays the night before too; he wants ALL the detail.
Fun class, but be ready to work hard too. A bit of memorizing, but he gives you the exact information to memorize.
I took this class in a 2 week course and I won't lie it sucked. But his teaching was great and I feel I learned more about history from him than I ever have before. His tests were exactly over what was went over and I feel his grading was fair. Good professor.
He is passionate about history and knows everything about it!! He lectures the whole time but has stories and is engaging. Be prepared to take notes the whole time and 1 quiz a week from short reading. Its an easy A but you learn a lot!!!
Great professor. Study well and you will pass.
He is hilarious! His lectures are amazing, which is also a large part of the exams. The exams are a little difficult, and every week you have to read one chapter out of Voices of Freedom and there is a quiz over it. The other text book is used so little he tells you to use it out of the library. Study for your exams the way he tells you to.
Great professor! Describes the exams ahead of time, and even gives you the essay question before hand. Don't really need the big book but you do need the voices of freedom book as there are exams every Monday. Pay attention during the lecture, study as he says and you could easily get an A.
Professor Carlisle was very friendly and easy to comprehend. If you had issues with something, he was more than willing to work with you on what ever it was. He was fairly easy to get in touch with when needed. He was also very knowledgeable and wanted his students to pass. I would take his classes again if they fell under my required studies.
Best history teach ever! Never really cared about History until I entered here. Make sure you attend class or you won't pass. Second, don't buy the textbook. Only buy the Freedom book you have to read weekly. You have three exams, five videos and 13 quizzes in the semester. Put in great effort and you'll be fine. Super easy class. FLASHCARDS!
Best teacher ever! He makes history so interesting. He was very helpful outside of class during office hours. There are weekly quizzes and they often have extra credit questions. The tests are very fair. I would definitely take him again!
Professor Carlisle was solid. Very strait forward grading criteria, good lectures, and laid back. Only used one book; the "Voices of Freedom" Book. Did not open the other book once. Show up to class and pay attentions, do the assigned reading, and you will get an A.
Carlisle is a great professor. He really knows his stuff and is understanding to the needs of his students. I would recommend him to anyone. He isn't an easy professor by any means. You have to work.
I completed his intersession class last week. The intensity of this class is what made it hard cramming so much information in and moving quickly but Professor Carlisle made this class so much fun! He is so passionate and funny when giving history lectures which made it easier to remember! I would take him again and recommend him to anyone!
I took his class and it was amazing! He was hilarious and explained everything well.. The lectures were always interesting and he always covers everything on the tests in them. His tests were easy if you studied. Wonderful professor, I would recommend him to anyone and everyone!
I took Prof Carlisle's intersession class, I enjoyed him as a professor, I enjoyed his lectures, I did not however enjoy his exams. Maybe If this had been an 8 week class, but it was not and I found the fill in the blank testing with NO word bank absolutely insane for a class that lasted less than 10 days..
Very good lectures, MUST STUDY for exams ! ! !
He is the best! I had an 87 in the class and he bumped me up to an A!
Very good Professor, he makes everything clear on the first day of class. You will have quizzes each week, get ready to read the little book that you get. The textbook is needed for exams. USE FLASHCARDS! Pay close attention in class, take notes, and lots of them. He made this class more interesting for me!
There are quizzes every Monday, but there's extra credit built in most of the time. You have to do a substantial amount of reading to do well on his quizzes and tests. He can be a slow grader, but when it takes a long time he adds a few points. He is a good professor and I enjoyed his class. If you read you'll do fine, but it is not a super easy A.
Dr. Carlisle is an amazing instructor. He makes History relevant and understandable in today's language. We laugh and look forward to his lectures. Very clear grading criteria, yet also forgiving. Structured and well organized. Great sense of humor. Uses all books, but for different things. Hands down, I would absolutely choose Dr. Carlisle again.
Professor Carlisle is one of the best history teachers/professors that I've ever had. I could've done a lot better in his class, but I still ended up doing pretty well! He really loves history and you can tell by the way he teaches his lectures. He wants every student to succeed and he will give bonus. He makes history so fun and relatable.
1st thing 1st!! There are quizzes in this class are based solely off one of the two books you have to read and are hard. Do NOT wait last minute to read your chapter and you will do perfectly fine!! Attend class!! Lectures ARE THE TEST!! And they are COMPLETELY worth it!! He is never boring and cares 100%!!! Hes one of my favorite professors!!
Gives you plenty of opportunity for "extra" credit. Test comes from lectures so I dont recommend skipping very often. DO have to read the smaller book for quizes. He does tend to mumble sometimes but he is usually clear most times. Very nice teacher.
Dr. Carlisle was a great professor! his lectures were very detailed and story like. There is quizzes every week!! There is only 3 tests all semester but they are hard! There is an essay and 25 fill in the blank for tests so you have to study hardcore! i had a C all semester and with all his extra credit he offers I ended up with a B!
Outstanding professor, funny, always willing to help out, makes history fun. About 15-20 percent of test material is in the textbook, tests have 3 essays in addition to questions, however he gives you their topics with plenty of time to practice them. Gives a helpful amount of extra credit as well as plenty of review material for exams.
Very good and animated lectures, lets you know exactly what will be on the test, you will not need the text book, but you will need voices of freedom book for quizzes. I took the intersession class which is 2 weeks and very fast paced, and still made an A
Carlisle was a great professor. Made lectures enjoyable and most of his information came from those lectures so you definitely want to attend class. Quizzes and tests are pretty much all of your grade. Tests can be difficult.
I took his intercession class early US history, he tells you what to study for the test, also his test consist of multiple choice, short answers, and essays, with quizzes based on a video you watch. He is very passionate about history and is very animated in his lectures. Overall he is a very good professor and would not hesitate to take him again
You must make flashcards. Everything is learned through the lectures. Mondays you will have a quiz over the book but the tests are all over the lectures.
Best among best! His lectures kept me thrilled through all the semester. History became extremely enthusiastic through his expression. He definitely made me consider a path in History even though Im a science-based student. His tests were heavy, sure enough. But he gave lots of extra credits for everything! Go to class and your A is already there!
Dr. Carlisle is one of the funniest professors I have ever encountered. His powerpoint presentations will usually last all class but he is very animated during lecture so being bored should not be a worry. READ for the book quizzes and STUDY for the exams since there is no word bank but trust me its doable. I would take him again in a heartbeat!
He is an amazing professor and will make you laugh with his lectures. His test do require a lot of studying, so be ready.
Dr. Carlisle is an expert in U.S. history. There really isn't a need to ask many questions as he covers EVERYTHING. I took a 2 week intersession class and it was alot of information to understand within a short time frame. Two words.. FLASH CARDS - Dont skip this step... If you study it's not difficult to get an A. He is funny in his lectures!
He's hilarious and his lectures will keep you on your toes. I would highly recommend him over any other history teacher i've ever taken. If his lectures won't keep you awake, his booming voice will. I never scored well on his quizzes bc I didnt like to read, but I would make quizlets of his guide the night of and make 95%+. easy class, amazing prof
Professor Carlisle is awesome. His passion will make anyone excited to learn about history. Hes hilarious and lectures are phenomenal. Only concern is that you MUST study for the exams. 20/100 points are fill in the blank, and 50/100 are from a detailed essay you must write in the spot. However if you are willing to work a little, easy A.
He is hilarious when giving lectures. I honestly think he could be in theater. He is an awesome story teller! He made our lectures interesting and fun. You do need to attend class. You do need to study well. All his tests consists of fill in the blanks, multiple choice and essay questions. I made a 97 in the class.
He was nice but it was a lot of homework due with little time. There are weekly quizzes from textbook and videos. He assigns 3 textbook in this class. Two of them are used in book discussion. These book discussions was the worst part of this class. He would expect you to finish these 200 page book in 4 days and write a long discussion about them.
Professor Carlisle is a good teacher, however, he gives an enormous amount of essays and projects. Do not take this class with anything hard and homework heavy as well. He sets many LARGE assignments on the same due date. I would not take him if you want to do the bare minimum. DO NOT SKIP ANY ASSIGNMENTS you will fail.
Took his online class during COVID. Must watch lectures and STUDY for his tests. Not a super tough grader on other assignments. Do all of the quizzes and take notes while watching the videos. You must give effort and do all of the assignments. I'd take this class again. Very interesting. He's responsive to emails and enthusiastic about OK History
This professor truly was made to teach. Very engaging when teaching his lectures. I took this at 8 am and he was awake and ready to teach. Very easy to communicate with as well as answering any questions you may have. There was quite a bit of homework but it was not miserable.
I absolutely love how Mr. Carlisle teaches he does a wonderful job and always asks if we have any questions. He is great at explaining the material and is very clear about what's expected. I would def take his class again. He gives us material to read and it's what's on the test. 10/10
Dr. Carlisle made the in class lecture material extremely easy to grasp.
Carlisle is great at teaching. He truly has a passion for history. He does give a LOT of tests though; the class requires studying. Carlisle makes History interesting, and I believe he wants to make sure everyone has a grasp on it. Just watch out for the tests. There's lots with tricky questions and essays, so study is definitely required.
This class isn't a breeze, but it is 100% possible to pass. You have weekly tests over various reading assignments, but they are simple. Almost every assignment has bonus opportunities, and they really help a lot! He has an amazing sense of humor and will help you truly understand history. I highly recommend taking his class no matter who you are!
Dr. Carlisle was a great professor and really was passionate about what he talked about. He knows his stuff! Great lectures and always asks if we have any questions. Overall was a great class. Weekly quizzes.
Dr. Carlisle is by far the best and most passionate professor I have ever had. He gets really into what he's lecturing and also has funny comparison's throughout his lectures. The class is very lecture heavy, every class is a lecture so you will need to take notes.
Lots of reading and slow to respond. He Rambles on and on about material that you will never see on work or a test.
Great Professor! There is a lot of work, but if you stay on top of it you'll do fine. I would take one of his courses again.
The lectures with Professor Carlisle are super engaging, and he makes even early morning classes seem manageable. While there's weekly quizzing, the material is straightforward if you use the textbook and tools like unstuck study to prepare.
He did the best type of teaching for a class that everyone is taking because they have too. He explained the material and had weekly quiz to go only with the weeks topic.
Easiest class if you put in the work. Great guy and makes lectures interesting and enjoyable.
This was the 8 weeks online course but I had difficulty. Very test heavy over lectures and videos which is difficult for me to retain. He is really sweet and easy to talk to but its not an easy class.
