He is an amazing teacher. He asked students to some papers which helped me a lot. But, I spent some time to do those. very good teacher
An excited teacher about his subject, but couldn't really portray that to his students. A lot of lecture and just talking which made it boring. A very easy class but I haven't really learned a lot. Very cheerful and upbeat. Just needs to find some better teaching techniques to have his students be more excited about learning. Very Knowledgable.
He is a great teacher and is very excited about what he teaches. He is very helpful and lets you ask questions about what is on your mind from the readings or anything.
Brother Chapman is an excellent religion teacher!
Bro. Chapman was amazing, fun, and a great teacher! He know's how to teach Book of Mormon 1 well and it was almost being with a really cool seminary/institute teacher. The midterm and final were easy projects, and there were weekly assignments. Take him... you won't regret it!
The weakly assignements will teach you the most. You will love his personnal experiences and his love for teaching.
His assignments are bassed on your Talents and Abilities, so you are not limited to one certain guideline for projects, etc.
TAKE BOM FROM BROTHER CHAPMAN!! You start every class with a hymn and i always felt the spirit in his class, which sadly i dont in some other religion classes. He understands that his class isnt the only class you are taking so assignments are usually REALLY easy and same with the midterm and final. I never wanted to skip class.DEFINITLY take him!
He may be a great teacher if you know what in the world cemetary...er...seminary is. However, if you're a convert, he will confuse you to no end.Take his class at your own risk.
I really loved Brother Chapman as a religion teacher. He starts every class period with a Hymn and a spiritual thought by a student. You feel the spirit every day in class and you leave the class wanting to share the message you learned that day with your family and friends. I will guarantee that you won't go wrong with Bro Chapman for a professor!
He's so funny!! Oh my gosh, he's amazing! Love Bro. Chapman. Take his class if you have a chance! I leave his class every day feeling happy! He knows his stuff, and it can get kind of overwhelming, but it's worth it! TAKE HIM! You won't regret it!
EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT teacher! Brother Chapman is amazing! If you ever get the chance, take a class from him! You won't be disappointed!
Brother Chapman is a really nice guy--- not the greatest teacher. An easy "A" but I don't feel like grew much or learned anything. Too much class discussion. If I'm paying for the class I would like the teacher to teach, not listen to student's personal life stories for an hour.
Bro. Chapman is a great teacher you feel the spirit in his classroom. he really try to get to now you, and he alway has a smile on his face. I always looked forward to his class!!!! you be crazy not to take him!!!
He was so so nice and helpful. His class is really easy and it has a little work but its doable.
He is fantastic, and is so enthusiastic, I don't know how he does it. He really takes the time to get to know his students, and that means a lot to me. I would highly suggest him for anything. He is always so willing to help
I HATED this class. His voice is droning and it put me to sleep. The work load was ridiculous! Easy but EXTREMELY time consuming! This class stressed me out and frustrated me more than anything. And he doesnt accept late work for anything submitted online no matter how close to the deadline you are. More homework than most my other 3 credit classes
He's a good teacher and explains religion topics very clearly
I would not recommend taking this class from Bro Chapman. This is a two credit class and I have way more work in this class than any other class I have taken so far. I feel like I don't really learn anything because its just busy work that he assigns. If you can take it from someone else do it. Way too much work for a two credit religion class.
I took brother Chapman for BOM 121 and 122 and he is nice & super easy. He does have a lot of I-Learn work but its easy it can be done in 10 minutes, like share something you got from your reading -how easy is that? Plus if you get 100% attendance you don't have to take the final, and you make your own midterm up like write a poem or draw a picture
He's a good teacher, not very hard but you need to get stuff done on time. It doesn't take long. He just wants you to read your scriptures and think about them and he allows you to choose your projects and how you want to present them. He's very nice and always willing to clarify.
BRo chapman is amazing i completely recommend taking him. HE really gets to know and care for his students.
THE BEST!! Amazing teacher. Class isn't too difficult. Just do the assignments on time. He cares a lot and is easy to work with. The greatest teacher. Love him!!
Great professor, very spiritual, he always showed that he cared for his students. Fun class! one of my favorites!
I found his class to be a little bit boring. He didn't apply the doctrine in the New TEstament to our lives. So we just talked scripture the whole time and occasionally he would dip into deep doctrine. Which is something that drives away the spirit because most people don't understand it.
He gives out so much busy work for a 3 credit religion class. It is just a bunch of busy work. Very enthusiastic, good guy, but didn't like his style of teaching.
He's a great person & nice teacher, but his tests are super hard (I always got headaches taking them). They are time consuming, & I feel they don't apply to what you take out of the N.T.(Spec. Details) His class isn't hard in general if you just do what is required, but lots of daily work to do. He's a wonderful person & cares a lot about students.
He's such a great teacher! I felt like I could relate everything we talked about in class in my life. He's very understanding and helpful! His class was my favorite!
I loved Brother Chapman!
Awesome Teacher. :) Just make sure you do ALL the assignments. Hard work, but worth it.
He is an awesome teacher that really follows the spirit when he is teaching. He has some great insights about the scriptures and a great sense of humor. He can be really silly and is super good natured. The assignments really get you thinking and can be difficult, but are very worth the effort.
An awesome teacher! Super fun and way chill. Just do the homework and read your scriptures and you will pass with an easy A. Great class.
I loved Bro. Chapman. Had to do like a journal entry everytime you read, and take a quiz. there was a midterm and the final is a project that is very time consuming! But he is exellent! I got an A in the class! Recomend!
He knows his stuff! And he treats every student like they're a long lost friend. He understands that his class isn't the only class you're taking. His work load is moderate but consistent so don't fall behind.
I really, really wanted to like this class. Bro. Chapman made it impossible. Deadlines flying around everywhere (no consistency), completely unforgiving with late assignments but he'll mispost stuff all the time, doesn't listen, chooses favorites, entertaining but not enlightening. We couldnt wait for the semester to end. Charismatic but that's it.
LOVED his class! I had him for FDREL 121 and he made learning so much fun then, I had to have him again! I had him in a block this time so it way really fast paced but he was so helpful and really made the stories stand out! I feel like he truly took the time to get to know me as his student and I would highly recommend him to anyone!
Brother Chapman is the best religion teacher I've ever had. Everyday, we're learning something new. He knows how to teach and he knows what to teach. Deadlines can get moved around, but you just have to keep up with him. He keeps you interested in class and makes sure you are doing your work outside of class. I learned a lot with him.
Bro Chapman is a great teacher. He cares about his students and about what he is teaching. The material learned in class is useful, prevalent, and important. Do the work & you'll get the credit. He's fair and willing to work with you.
This is the best religion class I've ever had. Brother Chapman cares about each student and the love of the gospel just radiates from him. His sense of humor is fantastic and his sense and clarity of The Book of Mormon has helped me so much. I would highly recommend taking this class from him, he is wonderful.
I really enjoyed this class! Religion was a big deal for me, and I had high expectations for my teacher. However, Brother Chapman full filled them all! He was able to bring the spirit to class, as well as be entertaining. He really knew how to make going to class worthwhile. The work was all very simple, and the quizzes he gave were easy.
Do the work and you will get an A. There is a lot of work for a 2 credit class but that may be for all Family Foundations classes. He often just preaches how he feels and not true doctrine and gets annoying to listen to in class.
Best religion teacher hands down. Genuinely cares about his students and is very willing to work with you. His class is very straight forward, if you do the work you get the grade you deserve. He is excellent at teaching with the spirit and has the coolest stories. Never a dull moment in his class!
Bro. Chapman teaches religion like a BOSS! Best teacher hands down. Enthusiastic and heartfelt! LOVED HIS CLASS! If you leave without a stronger testimony its your fault. His workload was absolutely fair. And grading. Honestly it was a really easy class.
Hands down the BEST religion instructor I have ever had. And I done with all my religion classes. The class itself is very interesting and Bro. Chapman makes it SO much better! He is an excellent teacher and shares lots of good stories to make his teachings come to life. HIGHLY RECOMMEND taking this class from him!
Brother Chapman was an amazing teacher. He requires you to read the scriptures for 20min a day. which you should be doing anyway. Then he asks you to memorize a scripture of your choice and write a little something on it with 5 references. Its easy, and spiritual, it is an amazing class. And he is an amazing teacher!!!!!
Took as a hybrid class. He is a good teacher. I just felt like this class in itself no matter who is teaching it ends up being extremely preachy. I didn't do any of the case studies because all I wanted to say was that it was none of my business to use a scripture to tell someone why they are bad. Bro Chapman is a great guy though. :)
So, he's a great teacher and all, but there's a catch. My 2 credit course required something approaching a 4-5 credit workload. Not cool. He's willing to help, and class is always good, but I would never take it again just because the volume of the workload kinda killed the spiritual benefit that I would normally get out of study
Really good teacher. Bro Chapman loves what he teaches and it shows in his class discussions. It seems Fam Foundations classes are uniform from the college so the overall experience is going to be the teacher. He is definitely one I would take again. Hybrid class- only criticism- he wasn't as prompt with correspondence as need for this class type.
Brother Chapman is great. He's super passionate without being overly opinionated- it's about THE doctrine and not his doctrine. Lots of reading but I found it manageable, can skim and get an A but no Spirit benefit. Hybrid, easy discussions, good reading, requires you to buy class binder, likeable projects, normal tests normal homework.
Brother Chapman's marriage prep class is awesome! I'm sure his other religion classes are wonderful as well. Your assignments are clear and easy. His class is the perfect balance between hilarious and spiritual. I always leave feeling uplifted! I would definitely recommend this professor to anyone.
Bro Chapman is awesome. I loved this class. Even though it was at 7:45. : He was always cracking jokes but also taught the doctrine well. Very well structured class. He also cut out a lot of busy work we would have had to do if we had taken any other teacher in the course. The textbook is a huge packet of papers. (200 pgs). Fill this out.
Bro. Chapman is an amazing religion professor. He cares about his students, and his strong testimony and love for the gospel will definitely strengthen yours. You won't want to skip, for any reason! The homework is daily, sort of like journal entries with no word count, so they're personal to you and your growth/learning. Would recommend him 100%!
Brother Chapman is awesome! When I came to college I expected to get a ton of rude snobby professors who could careless about your existence, but he's the complete opposite. He really cares about each one of his students and gets to know you. He's just awesome and he makes an other wise boring religion class, the most interesting thing ever.
No txtbook for this class, just a packet of readings that you need to read to complete writing assignments. This class was super easy, and Chapman is so kind and loving. He was especially careful/respectful of sensitive topics in class (i.e. homosexuality, parental roles, etc.) which I appreciated. Great teacher, would definitely take again.
I took Bro Chapman for family foundations. He is a great teacher and has a lot of solid answers for tough doctrinal questions. He knows the scriptures and the words of the prophets very well. The downside of the class in general is that there is a lot of homework built in. I don't think that's due to Bro. Chapman though, just the class in general.
Brother Chapman was an amazing teacher! He truly works with his students to help them achieve the grade they want in the class. If you do the assignments, you are guaranteed an A.
Brother Chapman was awesome and super understanding! I loved the way he taught the class, and he was super flexible when I was struggling during the semester.
This class was pretty good, it got very boring after a while. Some days were great discussions and lessons and others were so pointless and I did not learn anything. Brother Chapman also is having his final in class at the last minute possible so anyone who has flights home is missing it which is a third of the grade and he is not working with them
I just love Bro. Chapman. Funny and VERY well-versed in his subject (he whips around his triple combination so fast!). Most of all, he cares about each student. Learns your name, where you're from, what you need from him. His students are his priority, more than his curriculum. I'm so looking forward to taking him again next semester!
The most I have learned in a religion class with the least work. This instructor is simply fantastic. I wish he taught more classes.
Brother Chapman is awesome. My husband and I are in his marriage class and we love it. Easy class to pass, attendance grades are pretty relaxed, and not much homework. He is also really spiritual and inspirational and we feel the spirit a lot in class. It has been such a good experience with him. Take Bro Chapman if you can!
Gives you heckloads of homework and grades super strict. Super good spiritual guy, just not my favorite professor
Brother Chapman is a great teacher. He loves the gospel and he loves the students he teaches. Huge fan of the guy. 10/10 would recommend to a friend.
Brother Chapman is my favorite professor I've ever had, by far. I highly recommend taking any of his classes. He genuinely cares about his students and is very knowledgable of the gospel. Work consists mainly of reading conference talks and other easy assignments. I love this class and would 100% take it again.
Brother Chapman is the most fake individual I have ever met in my life. He pretends to care, but everything that he says comes out in a way that makes you think that he is faking. When a student is talking, he will listen to pick up something he can build off of, wait for the student to finish, then go off in a different direction. Awful professor
I have taken two classes from Brother Chapman and he is always amazing. To me, he really cares, wants to see you succeed and help you to. Another thing that I enjoyed about him was that whenever I needed more time on an assignment per my accommodations from the disability services he was always so kind and gave me it. I highly recommend him. :)
Brother Chapman is one of the few professors at BYU-I that actually remembered my name. I signed up to take another religion class from him again already. He'll have you memorize a few things, but he is really funny and very personal with all of his students. You'll love him! Very awesome lectures, and I'd recommend him to anyone!
Oh gosh, where do I begin? Brother Chapman is such an amazing man. He is so genuine and down to earth that it's really hard to dislike him. He makes the class very enjoyable and the spirit he brings to the classroom is insane. I highly recommend you take any class from him.
Brother Chapman is the man! His biggest concern is whether or not you, individually, are gaining love for the gospel. He is amazing at helping you teach yourself. I would recommend him 100%
Bro. Chapman is so incredibly nice and loves his students. My only complaint is that the class has such a heavy work load. You have to write journal entries on a website every week, do group work every week, random activities, multiple papers, and your final is creating a website. The excessive work just made me feel more stressed than uplifted.
Brother Chapman is such a great teacher! It was a pretty easy class - not too much homework and only a few little papers and such. I would definitely take FDREL250 from him!
Brother Chapman is one of the nicest people Ive ever met! Regardless, My problem was more with the type of class I took from him. I was in a hybrid class where one day a week was in class and the other day was with a group. The work load was more than I expected and we basically taught ourselves. I would take a different class from him!
He is a wonderful teacher and I loved his lectures! He is super sincere and really tries to get to know you. You can tell he really cares about his students. The only complaint I have is that he does require a lot of Topical Guide reading but if you have the right attitude, you get a lot out of it.! :)
Good-hearted man, but WAY TOO MUCH WORK. You will be doing the work of a 3-4 credit class to get an A. He does give extra credit. You have to annotate 4-5 talks per week, write either a PLP or Case Study, post to a group chat. There is also group work. The majority of homework is busy work. You will be buried alive. Don't take if you want free time
Brother Chapman is a wonderful teacher. I loved being a part of his class. He was always aware of his students. I felt his love and I could tell that he cared about me. He is always making jokes while still inviting the Spirit into the classroom. 10/10, I loved him!
He is very passionate about what he teaches. There is always homework each night but the assignments don't take long. Take notes on principals for the end of the semester! He loves talking about his wife and how much he loves her. He is very easy to contact and find. He loves each student individually and it shows as he teaches.
Bro Chapman is amazing! He truly cares about each of his students and is passionate about the material being taught. The readings before class can range anywhere from a few verses to 10 chapters. The assignments aren't hard but take time For the final exam, you have to teach a lesson to classmates based on principles you learned during the semester
He teaches very lecture oriented, but you eventually get used to it. You have to dedicate about 1 hour and 30 minutes each homework assignment to the scriptures. Plus, filling in an assignment that goes with it. He's caring and lenient when it comes to emergencies popping up.
Really nice guy with amazing class content. Preparation and in-class assignments were easy and did not take long to complete. Inspirational lectures, it was always nice to attend class
He was such a sweet guy. If I could take his class again for the first time, I would 100 percent be down to retake his class. He is willing to work with you if you come across any issues and he will always shake your hand at the end of class.
Brother Chapman is really caring and teaches great lessons. However he is a bit monotone and low energy in his lectures and assigns a lot of work compared to other religions classes. The class lacked good discussions and was mostly lectures. It was still good, but if your looking for something more interactive consider another professor.
Brother Chapman is a great person and you can tell he cares about his class. The thing is though, he makes you do SO much work. Think the workload of anat and phys, and that's this class (for a 2 credit religion class). It's a ton of writing, and he's a pretty tough grader. It's not a tough subject, just a lot of busywork that seems over the top.
I have had him for two semesters total throughout my college career, and if you are going to take him, TAKE HIM LATER IN THE DAY!!!! His morning class was so long and just dragged. His later afternoon class was one of the best classes I have ever had. There is so much work, but it's easy to get through.
Brother Chapman is the best religion professor I've had! He does give a lot of homework, but he is super understand and he cares about his students so much. He is so nice and has some really great insights!
Brother Chapman really cares about his students. I took his mission prep class. It was his first year teaching the class it was great. He taught me a lot. There's a lot of homework but it' not too difficult, just stay on top of it. Late work is accepted but points are docked. A pretty lenient grader, as long you do everything and try you'll succeed
He is a great choice for a religion teacher. He isn't over-the-top, but he does take an extra step to make you feel cared for as a student which naturally invites the spirit, which is great for a religion course. I learned a lot about the subject and most importantly will remember how great I felt in his class.
He loves students so much. Very educated about the gospel. Has us do a reading check to make sure we did our personal study every week but besides that there's almost no homework.
Brother Chapman did a good job of following the Spirit and making you feel welcome in his class. Some classes it felt like there was a clear objective and principle we were trying to learn, and other times it didn't. Other than that, I would highly recommend Brother Chapman.
He is a good professor that does a good job at explaining the scriptures. You can tell he is so passionate about them and wants to help you learn
