Funny guy, always swearing in class. Do your reading and take some notes, you'll do fine. One of the best professors I've had.

Very smart and funny guy. He really connects with his students and wants them to pass and do well. Some parts are more difficult than others, but he does a good job getting his points across. Highly reccomended.

Jeff is the BOMB!! He is the ONLY professor I would recommend in the Soc Dept. He makes his class fun & and is an easy/reasonable grader. I hate stats, and he made it painless. Trust me - take Prof. Davis.!!!!

Dr. Davis is awesome!! I took him in summer school and he is always available. He looks out for everyone. Just do the reading (not hard), take notes (he spells it out for you), and be sure he notices you. He's down to earth and cool.

Very interesting teacher who really cares if you learn the material or not. He assigns a bit of reading but Ive never had a class with such an interesting read load. I would highly recommend him, especially if u are interested in the subject.

A great teacher! He's down to earth and easy going. He's funny and makes lectures interesting. There are 3 tests and each one is multiple choice-very easy if you skim the reading and take notes.

Davis is a good professor. He makes Stats understandable for people who don't like numbers. He explains everything very well. The best part is that his exams are take home! Go to class, take good notes, and you will do well.

Prof. Davis is awesome. He's easly to follow, like to joke around and very positive. He really likes to make you think out of the box and voice your opinion. He will help you with anything he can in or outside of the class. If you want to be challenged and inspired take his class. oh yeah and he's Super hot!! hee hee.

very cool guy. enjoyed his class but he was so unorganized and didnt prepare us for the exams. i heard good things about him before so maybe he was having a bad semester but his teaching was all over the place. there was tons of reading as well.

He's a really nice guy and means well. Three tests, one project. I think he was having a bad semester so was gone a lot, and yeah, unorganized. Was more than willing to make up for it though. I think I'm going to get an A and I didn't read any of the books, just did the study guides.

Although his lectures can get a little boring, he is one very interesting professor for social psychology. His exams are very reasonable as long as you study his very clear exam guides.

I think he is a very good professor. Having taken him for Social Psych, and for stat, I definitely would recommend him. He is very insightful, passionate and very helpful. He is always willing to help you, and he takes his time. He was what most professors I have come across should be. Take him!!

I took him for 250, 346, 335I he's good just don't take him for stats..but I highly recommend him for 346 and 335I

Dr. Davis cares about students and is willing to help. On the down side he does require several books ($), but most are easy reads/skims. He tells you what he expects for the exams with a studyguide. He may seem "unorganized" but really knows his information, especially when it comes to the actual data. I would recommend him and take him again.

very hard for statistics, but if you attend every lecture, and take very good notes, he makes it pretty easy to get a good grade. our final grade was composed of 3 exams, 2 of which were take home. i got a perfect score on one of the take homes. i got an A so im happy :) not sure if i would take again though.

great professor, EXTREMELY helpful. sometimes he goes off on tangents and doesn't explain the material clearly but if you ask him he will re-explain the entire thing. 3 easy take home exams and one final project. i never opened the book. attend class, and if you happen to miss a lecture get the notes from another student.

SO helpful and understanding. I emailed him my final but FORGOT to attach the actual paper. Before grades were submitted he took the time to send me a message and ask where it was instead of giving me a 0. Seriously, thank god for him!

Great class and cool professor. Totally chill and cool. He extended our term paper to an additional week. Spent time in class reviewing for exams and term papers. Very clear.

I can't comprehend why he has so many mean comments. He is the best professor I've had at CSULB. Data Analysis is boring and complicated to me and he went above and beyond to help me and anyone else who needed help. He makes himself available for 8 hours on a day he's not even required to be on campus just to help anyone who needs help.

Dr. Davis is one of the best professors in CSULB, bar none. He is extremely helpful, kind, and funny. He took time to help me on my project without me even approaching him first! What college professor does that nowadays? If you take time to ask him questions he will literally "hold your hand" and walk you through it. Recommended

I had Professor Davis for two classes. One was during my freshman year the other in an upper division class. Im a super senior and honestly Davis was the best professor I've ever had. His test aren't the easiest. You defianetly need to study, but his lectures are interesting, funny, and hella dope. Yes I said Mofakin Hella Dope!

By far the best teacher I have had here at CSULB. He makes the material easy to understand and prepares you well for the tests. Easy to approach if you need help too! Do your self a favor and take a class with Dr. Davis!

He is a really great teacher! His lectures are very slow-paced and easy to follow. He wants to make sure everyone in the class understands. The does extensive reviews for the tests and he is very helpful and easy to approach. I highly recommend him!

Professor Davis is the best math teacher I have ever had. Even if you don't like stats, he makes it so easy to understand and more importantly, pass the test. You have to go to class to get the info but you don't really need the textbook. I didn't buy it, I just wrote a lot of notes. Take him for all your stats course if possible.

Dr. Davis is the most amazing teachers I've had so far! He is very passionate about what he teaches, and he is incredibly helpful. He wants you to pass his class so he will help you with anything he can. His lectures go at a nice pace, and he tries not to leave anybody behind. Take any of his classes if you get the chance!

Excellent Professor! Not only did I pass this class with flying colors thanks to his help and willingness to go over the information as many times as we needed it, but I still understand what he taught us! If you can take simple notes that HE OUTLINES ON THE BOARD you can pass this class easily.

3 tests, hands out lecture slides before each book/subject. Very interesting. Material itself was not exactly easy but he is very helpful. Under estimated the first test so I did not do as hot but overall ended up getting an A in the class. Great teacher, very light homework more reading to understand what is being discussed.

Professor Davis wants you to succeed. He will give you every tool possible in order to do so - so really there is no excuse. He's a lot of fun and loves his job. I would recommend him for any of this classes.

Overall, an easy going teacher. Establish yourself as a class as a fun class and he will be very lenient grading towards everyone. Best Soc class I've taken. All midterms online and he advocates you work with your fellow classmates. Quizzes all online as well, but if he likes you guys he will give you like 4-5. And one gear project and he will help

Easy going and puts a lot of effort into helping students pass. The work is confusing and requires that you attend class, but attendance isn't recorded. Go to his office hours!! His help is invaluable. He guided me through the entire assignment.

He is great! I have never had a professor that cared so much about his students. You will feel at home when you are in his class. He is approachable and very easy-going. He makes a class that is supposed to be very hard, easy enough for you to keep your head in place.Awesome professor.

I absolutely hate math and anything related to it. But Professor Davis is so helpful and always tries his hardest to keep class interesting. He was always willing to make extra time to help his students understand concepts. He's also funny as hell which made class fun. So happy I've gotten him 2 semesters in a row!

NO TXTBK! Stats is a hard subject in general for those who aren't good at math like me but Davis seriously sits down with you to help you if you need it and he's really nice about it too. You do SAS in lab and there projects that you work in groups. Quizzes are online and your grade is based off those plus a few projects from lab.

He's eh. Most people think he's entertaining. I didn't learn anything but got an A. If you like a challenge, don't take this class.

This class was really easy. Too easy. I'm really glad I got an A, but now I'm scared for Soc260, quantitive methods. This class consists of 4 online quizzes and 2 gear projects. Professor Davis is awesome and he's a really good professor. However, if you're not interested in the class which I wasn't...you won't learn much

I have taken several classes with Dr. Davis and have worked with him on research for the last couple of years. He has been instrumental in my success as an undergrad and is a great advisor in graduate studies. Dr. Davis genuinely cares about his students. Consider yourself lucky if you have the pleasure of taking him for one of your classes :)

TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HIM DURING THE SUMMER! SUPER EASY AND REALLY CHILL. Class was based on 3 assignments. First one was to take an online survey, second a project on game theory, and third a VERY simple experiment. I put in zero effort, missed several classes and still got an easy A.

My second shot at taking Elementary stats, first time at CSULB. Blown away by this guy. Extremely easy going, very smart, knows his stuff. Will go out of his way to help you. Lectures are straight forward. No official "exams" but 4 quizzes online- that you can work with others on! Perfect way to get these credits and move forward. Very kind man!

Dr. D, he really helped you if you went to office hours, no actual tests but 4 online quizzes that you get a week to do, will extend the due date if you say you need more time. Overall very helpful, best professor i have taken so far. i definitely recommend.

4 online quizzes (72%) & 3 gear projects (28%). Quizzes r hard, use notes & search online. 1st 2 gear projects r given during lab - just follow along as he does them. Last gear project is on ur own or with partner. He helpswants to help u to get it done perfect. (gear projects r a given full credit). Grades will depend on the quizzes dramatically.

Davis is a good professor. He really cares about his students. I did however feel as if I didn't learn much in the class. We had class cancelled or class would be optional. He does try to help, if you have any questions he'll do his best to help you understand.

He is a great professor. It shows that he really cares for his students and he is always willing to provide feedback. If you need extra help go to his office hours he will help you. Really nice guy overall.

Davis is an excellent professor, very knowledgeable in various subjects as they relate to sociology. I learned so much in his class.

Awesome professor. I liked his approach of incorporating humor. One of my best memories at CSULB was taking social psychology with him. He covers a lot of of interesting individuals in his course. Such as zimbardo and serial killers.

Took him for SOC 355-No tests/quizzes just the one major project that is worked on all semester long. Lecture material isn't the funnest but he tries. I'd suggest to participate in class discussions, he notices.

Prof Davis is a good teacher to take, he makes the class entertaining and stats less difficult. I would always start my day off right in his class with the energy he gives off. I would recommend any soc majors to take this class- it wasnt too difficult and with the tests being online it was a lot less stressful.

Amazing professor, I learned how to do quantitative data with ease. Dr Davis loves star wars and he is a great professor, he answers all questions, has a steady pace with the class, and I am really sad my semester with him as my instructor is about to end. Dr Davis is the pinnacle of Sociology professors at CSULB. Do the work and you are solid

Quantitative Methods class is wrapped around a project. You turn in slides, send out surveys, and discuss your findings. He stresses that he is available if we need any help with our projects. Yes if you get stuck just visit him and he will guide you well. He will go out of his way to help students. Great professor.

I've had Davis twice and he is a super cool professor. His class is not too stressful and he is always available to help his students do well in his class. I tell everyone to take his classes to get a good grade but also learn a lot to help throughout sociology and research classes!

There are 3 exams, he gives 3-4 weeks to finish them. The 3rd exam is the final. There all on online and opened book. Go to his office hours! He will help you on the exams! 2 powerpoints about gear but thats easy! Hes funny, respectful, and caring about his students. The lectures can be boring/ textbook not needed/ attendance not really important

Wasn't the best teacher, but all the slides were online so not going to lecture isn't a bad choice. All exams were online with a three week time period to take them and were open note. The big projects were done as a class so you are guaranteed an A. Very cool person, but basically learned nothing.

Jeff was very nice and caring. Lots of classes were cancelled as well as labs. We only had to take 3 tests which were online, fairly easy and we could ask him for help with anything. Extremely nice, but I can honestly say I didn't learn anything.

He is by far one of the best professors I have taken so far, he shows you the way you can apply what you are learning in class to the outside world. He is also very caring of his students and considerate especially when you talk to him about not being able to complete something. He is not there to make your life harder and makes that very clear.

If you have take statistics take it with him! He is very understanding and knows that we are college students and have a bunch of other things to worry about. All you have to do is show up to office hours and ask for help. He did cancel class a few times throughout the semester which was nice. I might not have learned anything but I still passed.

Soc170 is a hard class no matter what professor you take, but this prof is easily one of the best prof's I've ever had. He wants you to pass, he's willing to help you, and he is an amazing person. Take his class and you won't be disappointed.

I hate stats but I really enjoyed taking this class with the professor. He really shows that he cares about his students passing the class and understanding the material.

Although this class was more directed to coding, he still showed how it applied to statistics, and demonstrated that it can help you career wise. With everything due at the end of the semester, he was very helpful if you were confused on a lab and provided way to reach out.

His class is coding-focused so it can be difficult to understand at first. He's super helpful and caring and he will always make time to help you. Assignments are manageable but make sure you don't fall behind.

So incredibly easy its ridiculous. Very cool, funny guy and encourages students to reach out whenever they need help. The class was basically all coding but he would put up the code you needed to submit in canvas and would have the students copy it and turn it in as their own for credit. That was every single assignment. same with quizzes. too easy

This professor is AMAZING. I highly reccomend taking his class if you need to pass stats. He helps you out soo much. This class is one of the easiest ones I have ever taken. You dont need to know code much at all to even pass this course. TAKE HIM, you will not regret it, I guarantee you that.
