Great instructor. Lots of quizzes, so do the homework and don't miss class!
Extremely knowledgable; very helpful; simple, clear and uncomplicated explanations; fair exams; realistic; well-prepared, well-organized. Best math teacher I ever had. Ask him any math question and he instantly knows the answer!

Knows his stuff, lets you use a page of notes for tests, teaches methodically. A lot of quizes and most in the final 10 min. of class - so be prepared and stay for the whole class.
too hard and boring. voice puts me to sleep.
Hard! He doesn't care about students getting that stuff or not. Always rushes thru material with lightning speed.
He is quite hard. I recommend not to take his class.
Difficult! There's too much information for the quarter, but if you're planning on going into even a business program, you'll be happy he's covering it. Quizzes are at the end of class, homework is collected, tests are difficult but passable. Hated the class when I took it, grateful I took it later.
hard not to fall asleep in his class, but be careful, you will miss alot if you do. make sure to take notes on how to use your calculator, or else you will be lost.
Jeff is a nice teacher, but statistics is a very difficult subject... Besides, he covers a tremendous amount of stuffs, so you can NEVER be lazy. Again, Jeff is a great teacher, but statistics is very hard! If you do not have to take statistics, I recommend you not to take it.

Smarter than any teacher I've had, and overall a pretty good, but has strange enthusiasm that no one understands. Pretty boring, actually. If you're good at math it doesn't matter though...I played bomber kids on my calculator in class all quarter.
Too fast
His class is way too fast and the class is difficult.
totally not a good teacher! He doesn't care if you get the material or not, and he is so not organize that everyone's grade is affected and turned lower. It was so unfair for us, but he thinks is okay. Better not to take him, he is not enthusiasm, not helpful, I was unexpected for his attitude and his way of teaching!
He teaches really really fast. I really can't catch up the class. He won't care about if students can catch up or not...he juz rush on his schedule. And i have to read almost one ch for one day, but i still have the other classes. So, DON'T TAKE HIM or U'LL RETAKE THE CLASS!!!!
Very Verry suck teacher. He's the worst teacher i've ever had. All he did is reading the book and said "we all have book, so you can read it. I don't have to explain every single detail" My grade in math most of the time is 3.5-4.0, but when I took his class, all i can get was 2.6. So I hope you don't take him, or u'll get bad grade, or RETAKE IT!!
He is ok
wow, really sucky...doesn't explain jack, gives a ton of quizzes and dumb asignments...don't take him...i had a 4.0 and 3.9 through precalculus and got a 2.1 with this guy...
A little slow in posting the chapter quizzes which would have been very helpful for the weekly quizzes and exams. Would have gotten a better grade if he kept up with his duties.
Summer qtr a tough class. Points for online quizzes, HW, In class activities, 3 exams, alternative project. Drops lowest grade except for final. Plan on spending 20-30 hrs a week minimum to get a good grade. Jeff is fair and gives partial credit on exams. He has his own web site for the class. You have to keep up otherwise your grade will suffer.

The best math teacher I've had at EdCC. Helpful, smart, clear, and interested. Highly recommend.
If you ever have the chance to take his class online, take it!! Quizes can be retaken and the answers to the questions are shown after the first trial. He is extremely helpful during office hours. Don't get lazy though, no notes on exams.
A very difficult class. A fair teacher!
took online class, His class is so hard and he always give hard question. not recommand..
If you have to take 240, take him. The course covers a lot of info in a short time and he is very organized and systematic. Keys to success: Show up EVERY day. Do the recommended homework. Don't fall behind! Also, pay attention to details (i.e. if you leave the units off your answer, marked off.)
I had him for stats online and he was a great teacher. But he is not so good in the classroom. Attendance is mandatory and he likes to give pop quizes at the end of class. He grades fairly, his exams are usually reasonable, but not always. His lecture style is unexciting. He is not available for extra office hours, except online by e-mail.
Smart teacher. interesting lecture and reasonable assignment and exams. Stats is not easy. He will make it interesting and you will be thankful because you take him, not someone else
Easy class. Tests aren't hard at all. Very fast paced though. Lots of chapters. Good lectures. Recommended.
took 132 and 240 with him, want to take calc with him also, very nice teacher better than neidhart, maki and richard davis..take adams and jeff for ur calc series if you really want to pass, above three teachers are ur worst choices and u will regret
Frikin HILARIOUS teacher. Makes me laugh almost every time I go to class. He talks fast, which annoys some people, but I like it. Don't take his class if English isn't your first language, because he's hard to keep up with. Math 240 is easy. Take his calc classes too, he knows how to make difficult concepts seem ridiculously easy.
HA HA HA, one of the first things we did in stats was rate Richard Davis on ratemyprofessors, just to show that this website is kind of silly. Check out the comment that Jeff wrote about Richard Davis that says "Groovy teacher---way better than Jeff Eldridge!" If you're reading this Jeff, hello, and you're a great teacher!
The online Intro to Stats class w/ Jeff is great! It was one of my first online classes and Jeff made it a very good experience. I learned a lot about statistics and am confident I will retain all the information! No notes for quizzes, clear & fun instruction, DO NOT fall behind! It's difficult to catch up! Have fun! :]
Very good teacher. Uses technology and body gestures to the max to make stuff clear. He includes a lot of visual examples. He does not assume much knowledge. When he works through new problems he does not skip steps. Each example is a quick review of previous math in addition to the new stuff. Lets us use other text books. Keep it up Jeff!
The stuff he talks about in the class is extremely hard to understand. Tests are sometimes easy sometimes hard. NO EXTRA CREDIT AT ALL!! That means you will never get a high score no matter how much points you get in tests, ANNOUNCED quiz, and activities.
Yeah, he gives UNANNOUNCED quizzes, like he expects us to be in class every day or something. Don't take this instructor if you like to skip class.
Speaks very, very fast. Otherwise, very good.
Good instructor. Stats class mostly about memorization...not much understanding. My only math class covered 25 chapters in one quarter. Too much, too fast. Don't take stats class if you don't need to.
Great Instructor. I took Intro Stats online. Mr. Eldridge is always willing to help, and is a fair instructor. This is a hard and extremely time consuming course; 27 chapters in 1 quarter. If you do the work in the book, you should get a good grade in the class. He spells out how to get a good grade in his syllabus. You HAVE to do the work!
I hate math but this class was okay. On tests you get a page of notes. And the final too but the final is comprehensive. There is a big project but he will drop your lowest score. He is a hard grader on tests, pay attention to the way he wants things worded. Ovrall a good teacher.
Really tough class; so fast paced, you go through about 5-6 chapters a week. Jeff is ok; reasonably helpful but always seems to be in a hurry when you have questions. During lectures he assumes you've read the material & doesn't explain what a word or symbol or concept is unless specifically asked to. A very frustrating experience for me.
Best mathematics teacher I've had so far. His lectures are very clear and his tests are not very difficult (except applications). One day, he randomly vandalised a Wikipedia article in class, which lightned the mood quite a bit. (Apparently the Lambert W function is named after Adam Lambert.)
Having taken calculus AND statistics with him, I can say Jeff is a great teacher. Tests are somewhat hard, but his notes and availability to help are great. Funny in class, and his jokes actually have some connection to the lesson so makes it more interesting as examples. Highly recommend him as a teacher.
He provides many extra in-class-activity assignments for us to bring our grades up. Gives clear reviews, quizzes and exams were all covered, no bad surprises or tricky questions.
This class is def. not an easy class. For me a extra challenge because I'm not good with any sort of Math. Jeff makes it Fun and is really good at teaching the concept! This is the first time I have ever felt confident during a math class! I passed his class & he was really helpful with providing the proper tools to assist me! Thanks Jeff!!!
Jeff obviously has a passion for math. Online class = INTENSE; fast-paced and FULL of material (he always responds promptly to questions). Recommend taking on campus if you struggle with math/don't like it. Requires more hw time than most classes. Not a bad idea to only take 10 credits that quarter, particularly if you're going the online route.
Jeff is really passionate about math. His lectures are really clear and straightforward. If you take his class, be sure to come to class often. He is not an easy grader, so pay extra attention for what you're doing in the exams. The Wamap webpage he provides is also really useful; I actually learned a lot from it. GOOD LUCK!
I took his MATH 144 class, which is Precalculous I&II combined. He's nice and good at teaching. Really learned some stuff from him. But u still need to read your book and DO THE ASSIGNMENT that he gives you. Not that easy, but he is very helpful. Ask him whenever you have any questions.
Could have been more helpful, but I took his class online, so maybe he is more helpful in a classroom setting.
Mr. Eldrige is a great math professor and is really helpful. He is not easy, but explains things clearly, and step-by-step. He is by far the best math professor I have had at Edmonds.
Didnt use the textbook and wrote his own material which was more difficult but he let you take quizzes as many time as you wanted. Tests were on campus but he allowed a full page of notes and gave a pretest with the answers that was very similar to the material. I feel the class was well spread out & I enjoyed it although hes not timely in grading
One of the best teachers I have ever had, increased my interest in topic and was very helpful. Has some unfair grading quirks on simple homework assignments but is otherwise outstanding.
We can write a 2-pages not for exam, quizzes can be taken as many as you want, but the teacher didn't spend a lot of time to ask questions for students, kind of hard to follow.
Jeff is a helpful teacher. He teaches clear. However, he speak so fast, if you don't notice his class, you will miss all knowledge in this class. His grade is low, each assignment only 5 credits, if you make a mistake, you will lost 1 point.so your grade will very low. you have a chance to take a retest. but you don't have enough time finish it
Great teacher - super helpful and non-intimidating, ez to relate to. Sometimes he goes off on tangents so he can be hard to follow, but he explains things thoroughly. His grading is really fair but not free points. He really sets u up for success so if u put in the work, u should do well. I highly recommend u take him 4 Stats!
Pretty chill guy, and lectures are usually pretty clear, but he can sometimes talk through problems a bit too fast. He also talks somewhat monotone, so it can be easy to fall asleep. Exam problems are mostly fair; the practice exams he posts online are considerably harder than the actual exams, so don't be too intimidated by them.
I took Jeff online. It was hard because his lectures online seem to be jumbled all together. Had to get alot of help outside of his lectures. Quizzes you can take as many times as you want but the midterm and final are hard. Pay attention and you will do well. Exams and a project are a huge part of grade.
I took MATH142151152 with him. Uses online txtbooks, Wamap, saves you . His lectures are clear Do all HW and any EC work, you will do fine. ExamsQuiz can be challenging, many Exact answers required on exams, but very fair and really sets you up for success. TI-83 Allowed on exams. You will become very good at math if you put in the work.
Awesome he really gave me a good inside of new jobs in the corporate world. Never stop taking about how successful his relatives are with software. Very inspirational for Seattle this days.
Software and Winplot is already there. I definitely would go for a career in that field. No more hard working in writing. His class should be online. I love my calculator.
Not willing to help students when I asked him questions and just said go read textbook.
good professor, very patient and dedicated.
He is horrible teacher.
Taking his Statistics class now. He grades fairly, give's good lectures, provides all the material needed so no need to purchase a $200 book and even if your not great at Math you can still pass. Just do your work, try the best you can, and ask questions. You'll be fine. You have to really not be putting in effort or be missing class to fail.
Jeff is alright. If you have a pretty adequate background in math you will be find. He is a SUPER fast talker and goes through his lectures really fast so you have to be present and focused in class to what he is saying. Homework is pretty light, he writes his own chapters for the book. Usually homework is more difficult than tests.
Jeff was a good teacher. I advise having some sort of background in math to make the course easier. His lectures are fast and he goes through a lot during each class, so you cannot skip classes without being behind. The tests are easier if you go through the reviews. The textbook is given online. Be prepared to be online daily.
Talks very fast during lecture. It is in your best interest to study the material before class. Gives you plenty of opportunity to raise your grade. Daily classes are harder than twice weekly classes, no idea why. DO NOT CHEAT, you will embarrass yourself. It is what it is, calculus is hard. Good luck!
I took him for calculas 1,2,3 and he's pretty good. His grading is really fair and the test are basically all the class activities. Study the activities, and you will be fine. Plenty of chances to raise your grades. His lectures can get a bit boring when he teaches from the textbook, but explainations of material is understandable and good.
A Poem About MATH153: The bane of my existence At the end, it's like "Good riddance!" Or at least it used to be. When I go to Jeff Eldridge's class, And look at all those graphs, I think, "Thank god he's teaching me." Eldridge is a great professor. If you do the reading and pay attention in class you should be fine.
Fair grader with tests and activities. If you miss class, you'll regret it!
Great instructor! The material is not difficult if you read and actually do the homework. Very understanding and explains the material in a manner that students can identify with. He will work with you as long as you put the effort in. Attend class and participate in the forums weekly. Note taking is key in this class and can be used on exams.
I usually hate math classes, but this class was one of my favorite math classes I've taken ever. The material was very easy to grasp, there was no textbook required for my class, as Eldridge writes up his own material for each chapter with examples. i paid attention in class, never did homework, had a study session before each test, and did well.
He is a very nice teacher, will answer all your questions and he gives you chances to get enough points as long as you want.
I took his Math 144, 271 and 254. He is a very good teacher, and you will be easy to get grades as long as you follow him in his class and do your own work. Unfortunately, he won't be teaching Math 272 in this year, so I have to take someone else's class:(
Good Calculus teacher one of the best at EDCC
While he is very good at math, I could not keep up with his teaching. He goes so fast that you hardly have any time to process what you just learned. Also during class activities he is pretty much no help and just tells you to look at the board. I also found that he for sure puts the hardest material on the tests. Some of the derivatives are crazy.
tough grader
I really liked this class because for math, there was hardly any homework. Taking any calculus class, it's best to read the section before class but especially with Jeff because he talks SO FAST. I was disappointed to find out there was no extra credit opportunities because I read on here that there was.
An awesome teacher. Powerful command of Math. Willing to help. Gives good feedback. Dedicated. Fair grader. Fast in lecturing, so you better read the section before class. Daily class activities (graded). Almost daily online homework (graded). Tough exams (generally). I'd recommend him if you wanna be an Engineer!
He definitely knows mathd well. good teacher, but his tests are very tough.
Took him for 151 and 152. Good class, but he would go through some hard topic that would never be in the test, so you better know by yourself what topics to focus on (he will not tell you). The concept question in his exams are 90% similar to the practice exam. Master the topics covered in the practice question and you can definitely get 75+%
Jeff Eldridge is probably one of the smartest men I've ever met, and it translates to equally impressive lectures. That being said, Calculus is Calculus and if you put anything less than 10 hours a week into studying and struggle to attend all classes, don't expect to pass.
come to class and do the assignments and you'll be fine
I like when he says "A-ha" after he figures out a tough question. Alongside this, when he's thinking super hard, he'll put a pen on his chin. Always wears the same cargo shorts too which is dope. 10/10 would recommend.
Excellent! Answered all my Star Wars questions with math. I Had no idea about Endors gravity until he explained it to me. Would take again! Also good teacher.
He will give you assignments, but never bother to learn your name or make a connection with you. Not only that, you will have to teach yourself, using the videos that come with the assignments, might as well take an online class. If you struggle with math, he is not the one for you.
good experienced.
his style of teaching isn't very engaging. don't feel like i learned some concepts thoroughly in this class. but i like how he shows you last years' tests to get a feel of what to expect.
Jeff Eldridge doesn't bother to engage and keep communication with students. In class, he delivered his lecture to us too quickly and does not even ask if anyone has any questions. It is as if he was revising the topics himself. Moreover, he's a tough grader, missing little things will get you a minus one every time.
This class was very difficult and I had to spend a lot of hours each week just trying to teach myself the concepts because he went way too quick during class and there was barely any time to write the notes. Calculus 2 is a very hard class and I did not feel like I was set up to succeed.
Mr. Eldridge is a great lecturer, but is not a great communicator. In this class you really have to work with others or stuck to yourself because he is not very one on one. He did answer questions when we asked them, but he wasnt very engaged with the students. I felt he was just there to throw stats at us, rather than help us succeed.
Taking math online wasn't my choice but covid happened. Lots of resources on WAMAP and you can drop activity and assessment scores. Theres an assessment (kind of like a quiz) each week instead of midterms and the final isnt too bad and isnt a huge part of your grade. Be sure to get the online points (easy but dont wait until end of the quarter.)
DO NOT CHEAT!!!! If you use Symbolab he will catch you. Otherwise you get out of the class what you put into it. WAMAP is great, very structured with lots of good videos. Go to the office hours on Goggle Meet, they will help alot.
There's no extra credit (if you ask, he'll tell you that students who do something or other will get 10 times as much extra credit as those who don't -- think about it!) but you get to drop lots of activities and redo one test and you can get 100% on the wamap hw by retrying each problem. The videos he links to are really good. Would take again.
Uses WAMAP and a free textbook, with lots of good resources and videos (some of them he makes himself). Responds quickly to messages/emails and forum posts. Weekly tests instead of midterms and final and you get to drop some. Daily activities (you get to drop some of these too), so you need to keep up with the class instead of cramming.
This is the second time I've taken an all online Math class. Jeff is very knowledgeable at what he does. Jeff's tests are fair and a small mistake could cost you points, but he grades fairly. Sometimes he is a tough grader and gets you with the simplest of mistakes. Make sure to check your work twice before. Overall, I liked having Jeff as a prof.
Terrible professor. Do NOT take any of his classes.
Wasnt looking forward to taking calc online during pandemic but Professor Eldridge has great videos and will answer any question you want if you show up to office hours. You just have to put in the study time. But (and I cant stress this strongly enough) DO NOT CHEAT, a couple of my buddies got caught and it wasnt pretty.
Stereotypical tenured professor doing the bare minimum. Mediocre/incomplete explanations in office hours. Seems like he'd rather you struggle & confuse yourself instead of helping you. Not accommodating for the remote/Covid situation. I've taught myself all quarter because he essentially throws the course material at you & says "learn this."
this guy is actually the worst professor I have ever had.
dont take his classes. you will regret it
I don't think he even teaches 141 or 142 so some of these bad reviews dont make sense. You have to study and attend class but he drops lots of grades so you can still get an A even if you mess up on some of the quizzes. Out of the profs who teach the upper math classes he and Mrs. Leoni are some of the better choices.
Horrible. Just horrible.
Learning calculus online takes alot of work but I ended up acing it thanks to Jeff's explanations in office hours and how he drops a lot of scores. Class is very organized with checklist of what you should do each day and that helped keep me on task. Attendance is optional but you really miss out if you don't show up. Wish he was teaching 153.
Has daily office hours, you can ask any questions you want and he'll go over it. Makes his own videos that go with the textbook. WAMAP HW and activities 3-4 times a week. A quiz every week. (not proctored) He responds to emails and messages fast and grades things pretty fast compare to other profs. Final was pretty fair and you get lots of time.
This class required alot of work but I really learned the math (unlike in my clalc 1 class where the prof basically ghosted us and gave us an easy A. Jeff will call you out for small errors but he gives you a chance to improve before taking off points. Tests are fair. WIsh he was teaching 153
I have taken Jeff Eldridge for MATH151 and MATH152 in the past. He is very smart and knowledgeable about mathematics . To pass this class, I would recommend that you always attend his class meetings and do all the homework he assigns. MATH254 is a subject that requires much studying. Tests are not proctored but he catches cheaters anyway.
Coming from a non math person I was able to do well in his class. His videos are very clear and helpful. And dont be afraid to ask questions because he always answers them and makes sure you understand. And theclass has lots of daily activities, but it will help you learn theconcepts
He is one of the worst teachers that I have ever had. This man literally can not teach properly. When multiple people are constantly asking for help on a problem, he tries to be as vague as possible by saying things like "I think you're missing some things" or "Looks good so far!" He does the bare minimum when it comes to teaching students
Enjoyable class, all is explained well. Tests are open book (but don't use Chegg, he'll catch you). The textbook's free online and homework combined with lecture videos and office hours give you what you need to be successful. He seems like he cares and is funny too.
he is very nice teacher and explains thing clearly
Prof. Eldridge is the Desmos MASTER!! Makes really cool graphs. Class structure is very predictable If you read the book, watch his videos and genuinely do the work then you wont have a problem getting an A. He drops a lot of activities and assessments at the end of the class.
Jeff was an awesome teacher. You can take tests anytime and he gives really good feedback. DO NOT USE CHEGG! He will catch you and consequences will be bad! He drops tests and activities at the end of the quarter.
His class is difficult and although he's knowledgeable, he is unclear in his instruction and grades harshly. Minute errors can get significant points taken away, and while he's easy to contact he seldom lectured, instead of providing video resources to watch which were not always the most helpful.
Everything I learned I taught myself, or got help from an outside tutor/instructor. If you're not good at math and can't teach yourself, don't take his class. The most comprehensive feedback he ever gave was "you probably just make a mistake somewhere." Gosh, thanks...
Took him for 152 and now 153. The class starts off pretty hard but gets easier. His grading is fair and tests are basically same as the class activities. Study the activities and you will be fine. Plenty of chances to raise your grades (forum points) but use vector notation! Explanation of material during office hours is understandable and good.
Class is well organized with lots of resources. Grades things quickly. I never went to office hours, but he responds to messages in a timely manner. Caclulus online is not easy, looking forward to being back in the classroom, but I felt I learned as best as I could in that format.
1. Really wish I'd taken this class BEFORE I took physics. THings now make a lot more sense. 2. You can get a 4.0, but its not an easy A you have to work for it. 3. Go to the office hours. Every day. They really help. 4. Don't wait until finals week to post in the forums. 5. USE PROPER VECTOR NOTATION (that means putting arrows over the vectors)
Gives us videos to watch when we are doing the quizzes. I like the way he communicates with students and how understandable he is when I was dealing with lots of problem in this quarter.
Jeff explains things without making students feel stupid for asking questions. Lowest scores are dropped and having late passes are nice. Looking forward to taking him for math 152.
Material was difficult but explanations were clear, feedback was helpful.
Take advantage of reading the textbooks before the lecture. It helps me follow his class better. However, getting a 4.0 is definitely possible; be diligent and attentive in doing every assignment. Then all that is left is the final, which only accounts for a minor portion of your mark, so you'll do fine. Also, DON'T CHEAT; you'll get caught!
Mr. Eldridge is an okay teacher. He is fast when he talks and explain things to the class which for many can be difficult to understand but if you go to his office hours or after class and talk to him one on one it makes learning easier. There is a test every week but only the best 6 scores appear on the gradebook. Make sure you do the forums early
Grades assignments and tests very quickly compared to other profs. There is a test every week, but you get to drop 4 of them and you can use Desmos on the tests. Not easy, but if you show up and do the work you can get a good grade.
Attendance is not mandatory, but his lecture is fascinating. He tries his best to illustrate concepts and how to apply them to the questions. Desmos and other vector programs were available during the test, making identifying mistakes easy. The final is extremely similar to the practice test he gives, but it's only 12.5% of the total grade.
His lecture is very easy to understand, we use desmos a lot in class. Homework are not being collected, online quiz are pretty easy if you understand material, assessment every week not too hard if you pay attention during class. Have office hours before class. As someone who struggle with math I really recommend to take his class.
Took him for Calc 3. Good lectures, but a lot of homework. He grades very strick for small errors, so double check all your work. Do the forum posts early in the quarter.
4 of the 10 tests that you take are dropped, final is worth only 12.5 percent of your grade--still far from an easy A in his class. Be diligent with your homework as it's easy to fall behind. His lectures are absolutely fascinating even as someone who doesn't care much for math! Also be careful on your tests because he is a pretty tough grader.
This class is manageable if you can keep up with fast-moving lectures. They are very thorough, and he makes sure to ask if there are any questions or clarifications needed before he begins the lecture for the next day. I learned a lot from him, but that workload is no joke. Requires you to take the initiative.
Eldridge's class is challenging, but engaging if you put in the work. Attend lectures, read the textbook, and utilize resources like Unstuck AI to stay on top of the material. Tough grader, but fair - focus on mastering the concepts and you'll do well.
Great guy, great at teaching math. Lectures are essential, if you miss them you will probably be lost. Lots of HW, usually 1 activity/day + WAMAP HW + a bunch of textbook problems. 1 test/week, usually not too bad but sometimes pretty hard. Lots of stuff dropped too which is great. Forum posts are tedious so start them early.
I wish his lectures were longer as his class runs for only 50 minutes for me. By far my fav prof in the math department as far as class structure goes. He assigns way more homework than some of the others however. The workload is no joke so be prepared. Extremely helpful office hours. Tests/quizzes are fair. He grades super strict on in class stuff
Amazing teacher, but he's a super tough grader, and his tests always have tricks or curveball questions in them, so the tests are stressful and often much harder than the homework. The homework load is also crazy some days. Still, I learned the content well because of him.
Jeff is a really knowledgeable instructor. He gives a lot of real-life applications of the topics that we were learning, and he is easily accessible out of class. He also doesn't give any midterms, but he'll give quizzes every week. He drops a lot of activity and quiz scores, so it helps us get a good score in his class. Would recommend taking him!
Took him for 271 & 254. Great math professor with interesting lectures—do HW early to follow along. Strict grader that deducts more points than expected, but 3-4 weekly tests are dropped (class is 37.5% tests). Final is worth 12.5% and only one page (still hard and tedious). He will make you earn your grade but 4.0 is possible.
Very dismissive professor. Weekly assessments have no study material outside of HW. Quizzes may include problems that haven't yet been taught. WAMAP setup is atrocious and the ability to figure out current grade early on basically impossible. No time to complete in-class activities. 90% of class time he talks. Bad at explaining things.
His lectures are very good and visual. He shows graphs of how everything looks like while hes doing example problems to help you understand. My only complaint is his lectures are too fast. He only has a 50 minute class on something you realistically need 1.25-1.5 hours of lecture on to understand. had to rely on video lectures to survive sometimes
I've taken him 3 times now and TRUST ME if you stay 1 lesson ahead of what he lectures you on..you start to realize the quality of his lectures is top tier. Most professors dont bother showing you visually what's happening but he does most times. A 4.0 is possible but very difficult(as it should be). Everyday you will do hw. Office hrs are helpful!
If you want to learn mathematics and get a deep understanding of whats happening he is a great choice. Also very accessible outside of class if you want to talk about other misc math topics.
