Feaster's a great teacher and is willing to take the extra time to help you understand but you have to STUDY!!! His tests are tough! One word of caution...don't chat during his lectures!
He is a great teacher. His test are reasonable and tests ur knowledge toward the understand of the material. He is very helpful and he lectures good. His test basically follows his lecture and his outline which he writes on the board..
Dry humor is offensive, could care less if you're borderline for final grade, depends on quantity of work from students than quality. Make sure to keep own record of grades for ur sake, tends to lose papers and not enough field trips. Taking him is not worth risk.
very easy going teacher
Prof Feaster is a great teacher. I learned a lot from him and also his lecture notes are great. His tests were not easy tho...
Feaster is a great teacher although he tends to talk alot when the class is about to be over. He did know the subject very well and he explain things thoroughly and clearly.
Fantastic and very clear cut teacher. His lectures and very interesting and he is willing to stay after class/lab to help you better understand the material. If you know his lecture religiously you will ace the exams. Do not expect to get out early though. Take him if you are actually interested in Bio and not just looking for an easy A.
he's a great a teacher, knows his stuff, and is nice. He tends to try to get to know you, but can come off as a creepy old man sometimes, though I know he's not. I loved taking his class, though it was over the summer and the hours were long. but hey, great teacher, I'd reccomend him.

Nice guy, but not the greatest bio teacher...
GREAT teacher field trips were fun he was like the crocidile man and he caught an octopus on one of them.. i think i enjoyed his class the most so far
He is very nice and friendly. He is very clear explaining things but It is bio class, you relee need study your material. It is not an easy A but if you work hard it is not impossible.
A great teacher! I hate all things science but he managed to catch my interest. His tests are a little difficult but he is willing to work with you on what you need help with. Aslo The grading scale is lover than normal so 65-70% is a "C". He's super nice, helpful and knows his stuff.
He is the nicest teacher, very laid back, and very friendly. Exams are easy as long as you study the lecture notes. I really enjoyed his class!
Aw. Mr. Feaster is a sweetheart. He's super nice and generous, and even though his tests are killer, i still love him. If you tell him why you weren't in class, and it is legitimate, he lets you turn in stuff late. In fact, sometimes you don't even have to tell him why. I loved him. I got a C, but it probably could have been a B if I studied harder
He is a great teacher, he made most of everything interesting and fun. I really enjoyed our field trips. Our test are based on lecture notes so you have to pay attension and take good clean notes. He also excepts late work. He was a very nice teacher.
Very nice man, however he should NOT be a teacher, he clearly has a very deep love of this subject, however his test include things NOT taught in class, and he has a tendancy to make fun of his students. He says he makes notes available, DO NOT BELIEVE HIM!! They will not be available.
he is a nice guy, but his class is extremely hard. well, the labs are not that diffult, but lecture tests are extremely hard. i got a 75 in lab, but i failed lecture so i receieved a D in the course. all there is in lecture is tests and quizzes so if you do bad, you will do bad overall. this is intended for non bio majors, and i hated it.
He is a great teacher, very helpfull if need be. All test come directly from his powerpoint presentations. If you don't pay attention it could make for a hard class but if you go to class and pay attention you should have no problem getting an A.
he loves trees!
Great guy but he's a little unclear and sometimes doesn't know everything about his material. Overall he loves his students and is willing to help. This class has a huge amount of material to cover, so be ready to study. Exams are 1/2 essay, 1/2 MC. He says he doesn't expect too much detail in the essay, but if you want that A, be very detailed.
This class definitely requires work, so if you are not a dedicated bio major, don't take it. On labs and exams, the more details, the better. Be as thorough as possible, and you will do well. The material itself isn't always difficult, but there is a LOT to cover, especially for animal and plant classification. Good teacher, intense subject.
The material is extensive and the exams can be a bit tricky, but he tells you everything you need to know. He gets extra kudos for being a very nice man and is always willing to help. Just don't show up to lab late (obviously!).
prof. feaster was very difficult. pretty much you have to dedicate your life to biology, and if you dont, then your in for trouble, and make sure you have a strong background in biology, and math. the lab was very fun though.
FEASTER!!! Totally cool guy, very nice and funny! but the class is intense! A LOT of material is covered, but he is very helpful. The labs are fun and easy - all the answers are right there. Lecture tests are fairly difficult, MC and essay, but almost always gives XCR questions. And... he LOVEs plants and bugs!!
For a hard class, he's not a bad teacher. He wants you to do good in the class but also expects alot of effort. His tests are straight forward, but you MUST study study study! either memorize or understand the subject, there is alot of information. Ask questions because he is there to help. Great teacher.
he is the best, i totally recommend him
This was a challenging class, but Mr. Feaster is really knowledgeable and helpful. You can tell he really wants his students to understand and do well. Very helpful with any questions in lab as well. Tests are pretty hard, but straight from lecture notes. I would recommend him if you are willing to put in the effort. I studied pretty hard for a B.
Feaster is such a nice guy but you have to pay attention in class . you got to study the notes. for me it did not workout because i swear i have a memorization problem! but he is a nice guy and good teacher i just could not adapt to the way he taught
One of the best teachers at this school, very nice very helpful very intellegent and very funny, seriously i would say the best teacher ive ever had if it werent for Scott Malloy who was insanely good TAKE HIM TAKE HIM TAKE HIM for any class you cannot go wrong it is only the lazy and stupid people who give bad comments on him.
As long as you put effort into his class, you don't have to worry about your grade. All of the questions on his tests are from his powerpoints and he only requires you to study. Just know that any bio class is hard regardless of the professor if you don't put effort into the work.
Prof Feaster was Awesome!!!Super easy prof to learn from. I got a 96% A by not opening the book, printing out his lectures on line, and going to class which is a must. He likes to give group quizes when ppl are absent. Def a top choice for bio if you actually want to learn the info.
[from a scale between 1-10,1=worst 10=best].Tests:2.Labs:8.Practicals:4.No hw so tests carry alot of weight.prof is ok but class is hard.Tests are long and tricky, not enough time.Practicals are quick and specific.Nothing is dropped so 1 mistake=no A,2=no B.Tips:flashcard EVERY slide for memory, read book for comprehension. Its a demanding GPA Killer.
Hmm.. i started out with a c but was able to climb back up to almost an A because over summer he gave us ridiculous amounts of open note quizes and 15 pts xtra credit which believe or not helped me out like rehab helped the local crackhead. TAKE him during summer its super simple, labs are easy, tests are still tricky so spend a little time studyig
Best teacher to have over the summer. Notes are important because that is the test.
His humor is great for keeping my attention in class. The humor releases all the endorphin helps my brain stay awake. As a general tip, don't slack off. You will start to fail quizes and miss deadlines. Be familiar with the schedule and finish stuff before it's due.
Great professor who genuinely cares about his students. His tests are difficult and worth studying for. If you study his powerpoints thoroughly, you can easily get an A. Labs were very fun and probably my favorite part of the class.
Great instruction. exams are hard but it's a five unit class put the work and you will be fine. know the ppts well. see him in office hours to understand the concepts and what he wants for the written part of exams. Do not slack off and pay attention to what he says to study and actually study it. gd luck!
My favorite teacher so far. If you're respectful and a good worker, you'll have no problem getting along in the class. The tests are the power points he gives. Like to give trick ?'s sometimes. He usually sends the power points to mygateway but sometimes he will give out quizzes and take role so absent people can't take it
He was great in Bio 101, but in 170 he sucked! he has favoritism when it comes to grading! And this is no excuse, i worked my ass off! he was the biggest **** of a teacher i have ever had! I regret taking his class!Ur better off with the lab nazi Nolan Regal! If you take it with Malla Allen that is ur best bet!But he was horrible.
Easy class, esp. if you have taken bio in high school. Don't slack off, don't miss class, and be interested. Lab is fun, lectures were a little bleh. He goes on tangents about stupid stuff, but he is a good guy and a nice teacher. I'd take him for another class if I had to take more bio.
He knows his stuff. Bio 170 is a hard class but all the necessary material is covered in the lecture notes. He doesn't like stupid questions but is willing to help you if you are genuinely trying to understand the material. He's a pretty easy grader on the labs but exams and the lab practicals are difficult and not enough time is given.
Feaster lives to trick you. You think multiple choice exams are easy? Think again. Feaster's goal is to trick you. He's get orgasmic about it. After his tests I didn't know what was true, false, right, or wrong anymore. If I told you my name I wouldn't even know if I was right or not. 2+2? I have no idea after one of his tests.
Exams are extremely hard, literally every single thing that are on the notes is on the test. Lectures are pretty boring, he just goes over his powerpoint slides for 2 and a half hours. He also had a bit of an attitude. Dont take him if your not prepared to give it your all.
-DO NOT TAKE. EXTREMELY DIFFICULT CLASS. He speeds thru his powerpoint slides..he is really rude when you ask him to go back..rarely answers your questions. and test are EXTREMELY HARD!!
He is not a good Teacher, he knows his stuff but does not know how to teach it. Our class only had 2 As, 3 Bs, 1 C, and the rest where Ds and Fs. Not worth taking.
Had him for Applied Botany. He talks in a very mono-tone voice but if you pay attention to him: he is very direct on the material. He will sometimes get-off topic & jib-jab out-of-the-blue. You HAVE to attend or you will NOT pass. Studying for the tests are crucial. Just an FYI: the information builds on top of each other so keep up to date!
Exam are hard, but overall it was an easy class.
Prof. Feaster is a really good and understandable person. Sometimes, he gives attendance quiz for students who's there in class, so attendance is a MUST! If you read the book ahead of time and study the powerpoint notes, you will get a good grade on the exams. Reading book, powerpoint notes, and interest in Biol would guarantee a B/A in his class.
You can easily get an A in his class. You just need to study/memorize concepts and everything in the powerpoints and you'll do fine. There weren't a lot of A's in my class but I don't blame it on Feaster because I think it's the students' faults for not earning an easy A. There is plenty of extra credit. STUDY and be thorough in exam answers.
this teacher is super hard, not recommended.
He is a very sweet guy with a real green thumb. He focuses on PowerPoints that are shoddily put together. His lectures are more "overviews" where you NEED to read the textbook first to understand. However, he is VERY understanding and wants everyone to pass. Though he is a great guy, I don't recommend his class to anyone who doesn't like textbooks.
He is a good professor. You just need to study and attend class. Its very easy to get a B and higher in his class!
I'm taking Jeff for Lab and I must say if I studied even for ten minutes I would have a better A. His Biology Lab is extremely simple, it takes a complete moron to fail this class because he is so thorough in explaining the concepts that you need to learn without being boring. Great sense of humor.
Overall a great teacher, and even better person. Class is easy to do well in granted you put in the effort to study. There's attendance quizzes sometimes..points for just being there!
Took his class spring 2014. He is an excellent teacher, he keeps things concise, clear and interesting. His exams are tough and he likes to ask tricky questions to make sure you study. He posts his powerpoints online, so make sure you review them before tests. As a note, I learned more material in this class than I did any other.
Excellent teacher. He keeps things concise and clear, but makes the tests hard and likes to ask tricky questions (which is good because it forces you to study and understand the topics clearly). I learned more material in this class than any other I have taken so far. I highly recommend.
Feaster is probably one of the best teachers in the Biology department. His Powerpoints are very straight-forward, but he doesn't just read from the screen. He gives connectable and relevant examples for most topics. If you write notes in class and actually study, you'll earn your A. I got a B, and that's because I got lazy halfway through.
His style of teaching is straight forward & to the point. Won't go out of his way to offer help so ask for it. Lectures are understandable but you'll need the textbook to get a clearer understanding of the complex stuff. NOT an easy class. Record all lectures, take notes, take pics of all lab items, study EVERYTHING over & over if you want an AB!!
Class is a bit hard for non-science majors, but he has a great attitude and enjoys his subject. Has a dry sense of humor, very good natured.
Feaster is the nicest guy on the planet. He really dose care about you and wants you to pass the class. Be aware of his bad jokes but overall good guy
Bio170 is not supposed to be easy but Mr. Feaster made the class so interesting and was willing to help students any time. His lectures were clear. Overall great professor I'd definitely recommend him!! If you're a bio major and are serious about your major then take this class. Be prepared to study a lot.
This class is pure memorizing of latin terms (Over 200+). Plus you have to make your own text book, plus buy 2 textbooks (Don't buy them-all the info is on the web & we never opened the books!) Lots of work. Tests require exact spelling of the latin terms. Really a language course. No hands on job skills.
BIology is my major, so I went in there excited to learn more and shrugging off his warnings of how hard the class was. I got a C on the first test even after studying for hours. He's serious when he says that this class is HARD WORK. ASK QUESTIONS! He is very happy to help. Also, never ever leave after a test if there's a lab to be done.
Organismal Biology is overall memory heavy class, regardless of who you take, and he makes it very obvious what you need to know. Print the slides and study them, book isn't necessary. If you read the labs/slides, pay half decent attention in class and study hard for the "dream crusher" classification test then you'll do great. Would take again.
i would recommend taking this class with him. 4 tests in total. if he sees that youre trying he will definitely help you. its definitely a hard class but if you study a lot you can pass.
The man, the legend, The Feaster. Feaster is a total bro and just wants to see you pass. He's probably one of coolest professors I've had in a while. If you want an easy, fun Bio class, take this one. He genuinely wants to see people pass. His lectures can be hilarious when he roasts somebody or goes off telling a story. Don't buy the textbook.
Prof. Feaster is a great guy who just wants as many students to pass as possible. As long as you study and take notes on the power-point slides you'll pass the class. Attend lecture, there are frequent quizzes. TLDR: Come to class, pay attention, minor amounts of studying, little homework, pass the class.
Class is basically him talking, so not GREAT but definitely not the worst as he has a great sense of humor and makes things easy to understand. The class is basically tests and labs. You will never use your book as you rely solely on the content in his slideshows/lectures. You will pass if you put in the time to read over notes and study.
I'm no STEM major but class was do-able if you place effort. Some people had the audacity to not show up or show up but go on phone/laptop irrelevant to class, talk during lectures, and (wow) SLEEP. Don't do this please. You must participate in lecture and engage yourselves in lectures and lab. Expect homework, pop-quizzes, and open notes lab exam!
Half the class dropped. Tests were ridiculously difficult. I've never failed a test until this class. Doesn't give study guides. Each test is from 160 powerpoint slides. Almost impossible to memorize anything. DRY lectures. Didn't do much for labs other than sketch microscope slides. Painfully boring.
Prof Feaster is an amazing professor to take if youre not a STEM major but need to take Bio 101 as a general ed class. His goal is to have everyone pass and is very passionate about his class. Attendance is mandatory, labs were very easy and relied on groupwork. Exams are relatively hard; you must be diligent in studying!
Feaster is a great guy and you could tell he cares from the get go. His labs are very fun and easy, there is a quiz every week and the midterm & final are open note. For his lectures, there are frequent quizzes, open note, to replace any bad quiz scores. WARNING: his lecture exams are HARD. I applied myself to study and still got a mediocre grade.
Teacher is smart, easy going and lets you turn in things late sometimes. Most days are lecture (Mostly definitions and main points) and labs are easy and fun. Test are multiple choice and short answer but WILL be difficult if you don't take the time out to study. Class overall is pretty easy if you take an hour to review your notes everyday.
Stick with this soil science class and you will learn a lot. Lectures are interesting but, the best part is the lab. This is by far the hardest class I have ever taken but, also my first college level science class. Lots of new terms to learn and memorize for the tests. Quizzes and tests are challenging. Be prepared to study. Caring professor.
Class is moderately hard. Lectures are a bit dry especially @ 8:15 am. Exams are difficult bc questions are a bit specific. To be successful on exams read over your notes AND powerpoint. Star anything that he says will be on the exam. Lab quizzes EVERY SINGLE lab day unless otherwise stated. Lecture quizzes are mostly open note. Easy labs.
Terrible teacher, although he loves biology he cant teach it. Random quizzes in lecture
Super dry lectures. Study or you will not pass. Rarely gives out studys guides where questions are not even on the test. Tests are super specific and hard. Labs are ok. Would not take him again.
You need to be fully dedicated for this class. If your not ready , dont take it!! This has been the hardest class I have ever taken. This professor is not willing to help either. If you ask a question in class, hell answer you rudely in front of everybody.
Feaster is a great professor. Very friendly, caring, dad-like. His class was easy if you attended lecture, lab, and worked hard. He does give pop quizzes but they are open note and you can use a partner. Overall, bio was a fun class because of him
Mr. Feaster is one of the most amazing professors I have ever experienced, he inspired me to become a better student. Great sense of humor and easy to talk to. He's more then happy to help, if you show you care. Want to pass his class? Then show up, pay attention, do the work, and study before tests! Cause, isn't that how you pass every class!???
This teacher WILL NOT help you if you are a fellow student who struggles with learning material. He is very critical, incompetent, and egotistical. He provides some insights with snarky comments. If you're not a biology major watch out, he doesn't provide ANY notes for exams and lacks the study guide. Never met such an incompetent teacher before.
Feaster is an oddball but in a nerdy way lol He doesn't post study guides but in his lectures he'll say what'll be on the exam, you just have to pay attention! He posts all of his lectures on Canvas &is super nice. Would take again.
His lab is super easy just do the work. Lectures are okay, they have all the info and he posts them on canvas. Quizzes in lecture are okay he sometimes allows you to work with those around you. He tells you what will be on the tests. He's kind of odd but a pretty good professor. Mostly straightforward stuff in class, nothing special.
As a professor, Feaster is a really cool guy and a fun professor, but his class (at least for me) was the hardest one I had all semester. If you don't apply yourself to this class you won't do well. There are a lot of specific terms and lessons he expects you to remember for tests, but he does a good job of prepping you for them.
Professor Feaster is very sweet and his class is doable if you work for it
Lectures off of powerpoints with little to no pictures or examples. Goes over extensive information one time during lecture. No study guides for 25+ question quizzes & near 100 question tests. Must be very individually motivated to do well in this class. He's a very nice guy who knows what he is talking about. Take this class w/ small load.
I took this class and I tried so hard to pass. I worked my ass off to at least get a c. Every single test I took no matter how hard I studied I was always one or two points behind, that would make or break my grade. His tests are very tricky in wording. With lectures he's fast so while your taking your first quiz on chapter 1 hes teaching chapter 3
Good Professor, just have to work hard to get the good grade. He tells you what's on the test during lecture so have to pay real good attention. It is important to attend the zoom meetings if you want to pass. Overall, great guy. He's not a big tech guy but truly did his best to make the learning environment great.
lecture notes don't match up the the actual information placed on the quizzes and exams. I'm hoping just to pass with a C. he needs to be more clearer and match the lecture notes to the correct material that are on all the tests so students have a better understanding and greater chance of passing his classes.
teacher blamed the class for not passing, had an attitude problem, notes didn't match up to the material on tests, and took a long time to receive an email back from him I felt like I was trying everything to pass and he couldn't meet me halfway
Lectures were boring but got the job done. Bio Labs are okay. Was lenient and gave students chances to get get their grade up. Labs were boring as well. Felt like a long semester working on Bio. Responded to emails as best he could. Overall an okay teacher.
He is the great Biology teacher I've ever had. If you are paying attention to his lectures, you will get good grades on the exam. He will give you lab quizzes every week so stay on your work. He is easy, always gives chances for you to get a good grade at the end of the semester. He was not given a lot of homework so don't worry about that.
horrible, horrible lectures.he reads off black and white slides for 3 hours every week. I took this because I thought it would be fun to take a class about plants. if you are more interested in something else, take that. he assumes you know everything EVEN THOUGH THIS IS AN INTRO CLASS. nice guy but his class is so terrible. stay away if you can.
Great guy! Cares about his students and is passionate about his work. Lots of info to remember but very doable. If you try you'll pass. Tests are difficult and you need to study! Lectures are long but he always has some story. Lots of dry humor jokes that are still enjoyable. Would take another class with him!
Don't take if you are prone to fall asleep in class. Course is extremely lecture-heavy. Feaster is friendly and makes lectures interesting. Grades are dependent on quizzes and exams, so be sure to study and know the material. Labs are sometimes boring and slow. Overall, I liked his class and you'll get a good grade as long as you focus and study.
Class is passable as long as you study for his test. lecture heavy and class&lab can be really boring. four tests, optional final, and 8 quizzes; drops two quizzes by the end of the semester. super chill professor tho
I loved his class!
Class was going just great, until one day after class I was talking to him and I mentioned I was from the middle east. His face immediately changed and became very rude in the way he was talking. Since then, I have been experiencing bullying by him. He keeps making fun of me in front of the whole class and putting me on the spot for no reason.
I love professor Feaster! I meet him sometimes on my way when I go to school. He's so smart and nice.
It is very hard to be in his class
I would never want to be in his class no matter what!!!!
