Great and cool guy, starts off fast but slows down whnen its not just reviewanymore
Professor Gower is a really nice guy, he is willing to go the extra mile to help you succeed in his class if you are willing to go to his office hours.
Nice guy. However sometimes he gets a little confused on how to do the problems at hand. Overall great teacher for beginning chemistry.
Great professor. He's very enthusiastic about chemistry. He is always willing to help you out.
Mr.Gower is a great teacher, his lectures are easy to comprehend, and he will do as much as he can to help you understand the material. Tests are pretty easy, just got to study. Recommend doing practice problems in the book, and doing old exams.
Professor Gower's nice, but the lectures aren't crucial for success. The OWLs, the quizzes you have to turn in in section, and the practice exams are ample preparation for the first three exams. The final is markedly more difficult than the other exams, though, so don't start feeling complacent and forget to study for it.
Really nice guy. It was his first year, but he did a pretty good job. really helpful when you go up to his office.
LOVED his class! He really worked to explain concepts so anyone could understand them. Do owl and take home quizzes and the tests should be easy. The take home quizzes are not hard but take time to do so start early! Tests were very fair :D
I found him very hard to follow and he's not very good at explaining things, but a nice guy.
Prof. Gower is an awesome teacher. He tries is best to help you learn all of the material. Any time I needed help he was available. A little scattered some times in his teaching, but regardless you could tell that he loves chemistry. I would recomend this guy to everyone.
He's a nice guy but you need to read the book before going to class and learn the material on your own. He isn't organized when teaching and skims through a lot of important information. Sometimes he just goes on a rant and half the class is sleeping. I would suggest going to mitchell over him.
He's an excellent teacher and is very helpful. Whenever I go to his office hours for help he explains everything crystal clear. The tests can be a little tricky but if you do OWL U SHOULD GET AN A.
Super nice teacher. I took AP Chem in high school which gave me a strong base, but I had very little trouble in this class. He will try over and over until you understand the concept. Very helpful. The tests are very fair. Do the OWLs and the practice exams to study you'll be okay.
Gower was a great professor. He gave the answers to every owl to make sure you got all the owl points, he gave up to 3 different practice exams to study, and he really enjoyed what he was teaching. At times he would lose me in his lectures, but he had no problem going back and repeating things. Best 2045 teacher, take his class.
Very nice and helpful. His interest in the subject is obvious, as is his concern for the students. He puts up multiple exams to study from, all solutions from the book, and even hinted at what is covered on each quiz. =)
He is a really nice guy, but he didn't always give the best information for the class material. I went to other lectures and would learn more from other professors. But he put all the OWL answers which is nice. Tutoring zone is what saved me and I got an A! Lots of studying for any chem class is needed!
Definitely one of the best chem teachers at UF. If you can get him over any other, definitely you should. He's awesome!
Very concerned and helpful toward his students. However he has lost me during his lectures and isn't exactly crystal clear. My TA saved me and was very helpful. Definitely study the old exams. Some of the questions are recycled verbatim. Very nice person, however he isn't the best at explaining stuff.
He was very helpful and teaches with a lot of enthusiasm. He does a lot of practice problems and doesn't really go over the material first, so you should read the textbook before going to class.
Like half the science department at UF, teacher is a complete **** and if you try to approach him for help he will just put you down. Otherwise he is an okay/average teacher but you could easily just not go to class and read the book.
dont go to class because his lectures are so off track and hard to follow. just keep up with the chapters in the book and go to tutoring zone. hes a nice guy so go to him for help on old exams. he rides in on his little bike. pray your TA is good.
He is a great professor, if you pay good attention you'll realize that he goes over all the things you need to know for the test. With that said you still have to study a lot, but his class helps to guide your studying a lot.
Gow Gow is an endearing professor, he laughs at his own jokes and is very passionate about chem. Don't be intimidated by how fast he moves in the beginning of the semester. He can be unclear and makes assumptions about what you already know, but he is very approachable and will bend over backwards to help you. Great professor, crappy subject.
Def take him! I wish he could be my prof for every subject! He's super helpful, always hints at what is going to be on the test, and usually spends plenty of time reviewing in class for tests. If he were solely in charge of making the test, chem would be a lot better, but he's not so don't neglect studying because other profs make it tricky.
Very very down-to-earth guy. Helpful and wants everyone to get the highest grade they possibly can. If you're having trouble, I recommend going to his office hours. Also, all his lectures on online, so if you keep up with those, you will be golden.
At the beginning of the semester he rushes through the material, and he doesn't explain what he is teaching. After the first exam he starts to explain concepts and learning becomes easier. After the second exam it seems that he starts to put an effort into teaching and does it the way a professor should.
I was told that he was a very good professor that really taught the subject. After taking his class, I feel that his power point lectures are extremely confusing and are pulled from all different directions. I ended up having to go to both his class and Mitchell's class to learn the material. I recommend Prof. Mitchell because he writes the exams.
Gower knows chemistry well but his lectures seemed scattered and unclear. Sometimes he would spend 10 minutes talking about a concept and then say we didn't need to know it.. I recommend reading the book & doing practice problems & old exams. TZ not helpful at all b/c this class covers too much material so don't waste your money going there.
Gower is a good guy, really nice and helpful. Makes himself available as much as he can, which is great. He doesn't explain some things well, but overall he's a great professor. I'd recommend taking him. Do his old practice exams and the WebAssign and you should get an A or B
He expects all students have taken Chemistry in high school. His powerpoints are scattered and useless. Go to Mitchell's lectures and TZ for exams. Practice problems from the book are also helpful.
A good, yet somewhat disorganized lecturer. His tests are difficult. However, if you take the time to study old exams, do practice, and go to to TZ, you should do well.
An A in this class is definitely doable. I just did the Webassign and the book problems for every chapter and succeeded without too much trouble. Gower is helpful on his own, although the lectures do seem a bit unorganized at times.
The examples he gives in class are the most useful. Tests are not easy but they are not impossible either. If anything, Gower is very helpful in his office hours. I think that he really does want you to succeed. Quizes are not hard if you are prepared since he tells you what type of questions are on them.
I was told that he was the best chem prof, but I ended up having to go to Mitchell's lectures instead. I recommend signing up for his section for the easy quizzes and going to Mitchell's lectures to do well on the test. I ended up dropping the class because I did so poorly on the first test when I only went to his lectures. TZ only helps for 2nd te
Gower is one of the worst professors I've had here. I'm not just saying that because I got a C in the class, because I'm normally an A student. His examples were horrible; he frequently had to go back halfway through the problem because he realized he had made a mistake. His notes often jumped from topic to topic and then back again.
Gower is a really nice guy, but not the best chem proff. He expects you to have a lot of prior knowledge and he doesn't prep you well for tests. Tests are manageable, but tricky (its easy to miss questions for no reason) and usually have class averages around 65%. The only upside is that he gives the easiest quizzes by far. Hope you get a good TA.
Gower can seem a bit scattered during lectures but the material is not hard to understand if you just review old exams. The quizzes he gives are jokes. Save your money from TZ (about $80) because some of my friends went there and they still did poorly on tests. Do old exams thoroughly and it is easy.
Wow!! I was never a science/chemistry person, but now I'm considering switching majors! I loved Gower's class. He was very down to Earth and tried as well as he could to help students understand difficult concepts. He doesn't like to trick anyone and will tell you exactly what will be on the tests/quizzes.
Gow Gow was not as good as people made him out to be. His quizes are easy but he didn't make the tests this semester as to why so many struggled. It really depends on who the coordinator is for the semester. Make sure you read the book before lecture or you will be lost. Sometimes it's easier to understand the book instead of him though.
Gower's lectures are very disorganized and not helpful. The tests are beyond what he covers in lectures. I went to class up until the 1st test and then stopped because I felt I was wasting my time. Read the chapters very thoroughly, do some end of chapter problems, and definitely do the old exams. I did this and got an A in the class!
I BARELY got a C in this class, so it's not easy. Make sure you do all the online HW and understand most of the book's examples. The tests were hard (except for maybe one of them). He's a really nice guy though and helpful. You gotta put the work into this class for sure.
Gower was a great professor. His lectures were straightforward and his quizzes were really easy. I never read the book and i still got an A. The tests were challenging but they were written by Dr. Mitchell, I highly recommend him for CHM 2045
Tough class, should have definitely gotten a better grade however. Gower is a great teacher!! He really loves his stuff and is willing to help you. Went to his office hours and he was really helpful
Class is unnecessarily hard, it shouldn't be tho.. A nice guy but not that great of a teacher. He does his best to help you and knows the chm pretty well but regardless, you have to either work extremely hard or know chm extremely well just to get a decent grade. Solution, community college if you want an A. :-)
Class was hard, but go to gower's office hours for the quizzes and tests. He doesn't like to help people that don't show up to his class so don't go empty handed. Very helpful, he knows the class is hard and he is willing to help. Do exam 3, webassign and WELL on the quizzes. I missed it AN A by 5 points i could have EASILY had gotten.
Best Chm teacher I have ever had. Lectures represent what will be on the test and also he dose a lot of practice problems. Class is very easy if you spend the time necessary to do well. I ended up only missing 51 points out of 1000. Test 2 is the easiest, and dont blow off exam 3. Lab was also a joke. If you have to take chem take it with Gower
Gower is AWESOME!!! His lectures are very clear and listen carefully when an exam approaches bc he hints whats going to be on the exam. Exams are not hard at all if you go over all the old exams. Quizzes are easy, got a perfect score on all of them.HIGHLY recommend him!!!
awesome teacher and great lectures!! VERY NICE WHEN YOU GO TO OFFICE HOURS, and friendly, he'll recognize u in class and try to help you as much as possible. VERY UNDERSTANDING AND MOTIVATING!! TAKE HIM
Gower is a lot of fun to have. He genuinely cares about making the material understandable so everyone can do well on the tests. Tests and quizzes come straight from homework, but chem2 requires a lot of practice in general to get good grades. He's also very nice and motivating, so definately take him if you get the chance.
Takes the time to clarify and explain the concepts. Light hearted, and really cares about the students.
Great chemistry teacher and makes the subject more tolerable.
Great professor. Tough class, for exams, go through every question in the back of each chapter, and never get over confident for these exams. Very helpful during office hours, as long as you have true questions and arent there for a study session. Use the Chemistry Learning Center for that.
He is the easiest chm 2045 professor in my opinion, some friends who had another professor did not get the A in the class, i did recently well, and the final was easy because it was mostly questions from past exams of the semester
The man! Most personable and realistic person in the chem department. No sticks up his ass! He tends to follow the book pretty closely, so definitely always do the problems in the back.
Amazing professor. Very fair, funny, and genuinely wants his students to pass his class. Quizzes are easy, just do the assigned HW problems. Exams weren't so easy, but his final DEFINITELY made up for all 3 exams. He just took the past exam questions and changed numbers. If you want an A in chm 2, gower is the way to go!
This class is hard, but if you do the old exams and all the comprehensive problems from the book you should get a B or better. His quizzes are straightforward. Do not underestimate the exams. Gower is very nice but a bit dry and he reads straight from the powerpoint so there's no point in going to class unless you want hints for the exam/quiz.
Professor Gower is a good teacher who lectures on powerpoint slides mostly from the book. Success relies on really understanding homework problems and some concept. Pay attention the class before the exam, because he'll add in some stuff from the exam in his lectures. I didn't pay attention to the later lectures and still managed to get an A.
Funny and sweet guy but the lectures tend to be very boring. He reads right off the slides. Couldn't manage to stay awake through half the class. Pulled a B. Do the problems in the back of the chapter along with the past exams and you should be fine.
GREAT professor. Very entertaining, very clear lectures, very manageable tests. Obviously, going to class, doing the webassign, and studying are important, but I managed an A without too much effort. Gower is helpful and keeps his lectures interesting, and I'd say definitely take his class if you can!
Will make you laugh most of the time but his lectures get repetitive with his power points and doing practice problems. You do not need to attend lectures to get an A in this course but it would help if you pay attention.
Nice in person, but rude in email. I pulled an A- in his Chem 1 course, making a great recovery with a 96% on one exam. But in Chem 2 I struggled just like Chem 1, requested help, and was arrogantly shot down. I did all my work, and asked him what to do, and instead of helping me he basically told me why i sucked. One of the hardest Chem teachers
You will definitely learn a lot of chemistry if you take Gower. His lectures are very clear and he is more than happy to help you in office hours. His tests are not particularly easy, but they are very fair; he doesn't try to trick you on his exams. Study your three old exams to prepare for his final because he reuses the same types of questions.
Gower is a beast. He is extremely helpful/nice to everyone, he tells you whats gonna be on the quizes, he helps out the students a lot and cares if you pass or not. Lectures are not boring, reading the book is essential if you really wanna do A+ level well.
Probably the best gen chem teacher. extremely fair, clear, cares about students and is funny! made me like chem when i hated it before. best way to get an A in chem. I got an A in chem 2045 and chem 2046 with him. do as many back of the book problems as possible. it takes work but its not impossible to do well if you go to class and do the problems
Really fair guy bordering on easy. Lectures are very clear, and his quizzes are cake, combined with tutoring zone, this class should not be a problem with this professor. I highly recommend.
Really nice guy, enjoyable during lectures. Easy to approach and ask questions. I really liked him. Regardless, chm 2045 is a weed out class so its still difficult, read textbook and do practice tests! also tutoring zone is really helpful!
The best chem teacher i ever had!! i would definitively take him, i mean there is work don't get me wrong its not like he just passes you. but how he teaches and helps you out is how every teacher should ever teach
He is an awesome chem professor. The class is very difficult and the exams are tough, but if you ever need help don't be scared to go to his office hours. He is extremely nice and is very good at explaining things to help you understand.
Pure weed-out class. He's an amazing teacher, it's just the class that's hard. He's willing to help, but it's all about how much time you're willing to put in. Even if you put in your all, it's not enough. PUT 110% of your effort into this class and you'll be fine. Freshman be warned.
Tests are written to mess you up but I took the class and did minimal studying and I'm looking at a B or a B+
Gower is a great teacher but the class is a sham. They try to fail people in order to narrow the class sizes for the upper level Chem courses, which cannot fit as many students. Tests are utter garbage, written with the intent to trick people into failing. If you want an A you have to read the book. Gower does not write the tests, but the other Chem teachers who do take lots of questions from the book. I reccomend Gower as a great teacher, but avoid the class!
His class is hard... also the final is NOT, i repeat NOT the same questions as the lecure exams with different numbers...even if he tells you it will be. I just passed with a 67% and worked my butt off all semester,
This class is definitely a weed-out class. It is very difficult. Gower mumbles a lot and often does not thoroughly explain a problem and instead just assumes you can figure it out. Go to tutoringzone and study a lot. Do every old practice exam you can find before tests.
The class isn't that bad. Yes it's a weed out course, but the questions are not meant to trick you. They just require a lot of thinking and a firm understanding of the material. In order to excel in this course you have to read the book and I cannot emphasize this enough. Also go to TZ and do the end-of-chapter problems. Gower gives easy quizes :)
this is a weed-out class, definitely. if you know nothing about chem it's going to be very difficult, but if you've taken chem before it shouldn't be too bad. the tests can be tricky sometimes, but the quizes definitely are easy. TZ and study groups def. help if you're having trouble. he's a decent teacher though, and tries to make class fun.
The course is difficult if you do not attend class regularly. His tests change every semester based on what he emphasizes in class. Going to his office hours is highly recommended. He explains things well one on one when you have a lapse of understanding. His tests are a little bit difficult the final is the easiest test you will get from him.
Gower was a great teacher. I was never a huge fan of chemistry, but Gower made the class bearable for me. He told me in his office once "I haven't forgotten what it's like to be a student, that's why I teach the way I teach. I try to help me students excel in this class as much as possible." I definitely recommend Gower for anybody taking chemistry
Gower is the best chemistry teacher but the way UF runs chemistry is illogical. All the profs use the same test yet cover different material. The last chemistry class I took was in 10th grade and I really put in a lot of time and managed to pass. Being in a weed out class is rather discouraging knowing the professors are trying to fail people...
Gower gets a little boring after a while. He's been using the same power points for years. Too bland for me, but if that's how you learn--go for it!
Gower is the best chemistry teacher ever. The quizzes were all online and not timed which helped greatly! He is really helpful when you need the help. The only work you really have to do is webassgin but the problems come from the book! If you are not great at chemistry, this is the teacher for you.
Not too hard but can't really teach. Works off powerpoint slides.
Professor Gower was definitely my favorite. I do not like chemistry at all but Gower has a sense of humor, and you can tell he enjoys what he does. He's also really easy to talk to if you need help. I would recommend him for CHM2045 and CHM2046.
Good professor. Quizzes are easy and online (with infinite time). Very nice and helpful.
one of my favorite professors at this school. I was dreading having to take chemistry but after having him i was a lot more interested in the topic. He doesn't try to trick you on the exam and he doesn't try to weed u out of the class. He makes jokes in class and has funny stories. He is a Great teacher and I Strongly recommend him.
Gower is the most rude professor I have ever had. He never responds to the first email you send and is not helpful at all. Make sure you do the Webassign, he will NOT give you any points back for it. Exams/quizzes are reasonable though, for chem
Gower was a good lecturer. His tests are a bit hard because there are 3 other professors who make up test questions..so it depends on who is teaching 2045 is what determines the level of difficulty. Anyways, he was clear and answered any questions you weren't sure of during office hours. His quizzes are fair too, but they are MC so watch out.
This class was just horrible, managed to pull a C- but that doesn't count for anything. Just take intro if you can, because I didn't, and wish I had. Not sure if it helps too much, I know people who got a C in 2045 that got an A in 1025.... Guess it depends on the person.
Gower is one of my favorite teachers! He's clear, he tries to keep class interesting and if you need him to slow down and explain something, he'll do it. I highly recommend him as a Chem 1 professor :D
Dr. Gower is a really good chem professor, but like others said he doesn't write the tests, so they can be a little tricky. I recommend TZ to help with that.
I really liked this class. The lectures are pretty clear and straight forward and Gower is really decent. Go to class and take the quizzes because they are easy grades. If you start struggling or get stuck on a topic TZ is awesome, they'll teach you what you need to know and boost your grade.
He teaches off of power points which is really dull and makes it hard to pay attention. If you want to do well you should definitely go to tutoring zone for their reviews, take the time to get A's on the quizzes, and do some practice problems.
Best chm 2045 teacher. still hard. i thought the tests for the most part came out of nowhere, especially the final of fall 2010. mostly everyone failed it from what ive heard-or atleast i did. go to TZ and get your hands on old exams. attend class like i didnt do and pay attn and you should be fine
I went to a couple of lectures but couldn't continue because he was so boring and it was hot and crowded in CLB; I'd just always end up napping. Do his old exams. The exam questions are all cookie cutter questions that have appeared before, just with different numbers, elements, or wording. TutoringZone was good too.
Excellent Chemistry professor! He teaches the material well and is very willing to help students better understand certain concepts. The tricky exams are created by him as well as the other professors. Luckily, he usually drops a lot of hints just before the exams about the questions that weren't well covered by his lectures. Take him for chem 1!
Knows his material extremely well. Going to class is unnecessary, and attending class without reading the chapter beforehand will make the lectures pointless. Take his class you will be satisfied.
I earned a B- in Chem 1. Gower is nice, but his lectures were only helpful when I read the textbook first. Study Edge and/or Tutoring Zone isn't necessary unless you are reading the textbook, doing practice problems, taking the practice exams and doing poorly on the exams. The practice exams seem harder than the actual ones, so study in advance.
The class isn't easy, but he is a good teacher. Professor Gower is amusing and interesting. He makes things pretty clear. I was not great at chemistry before this class, but I learned a lot. I would recommend getting him as a professor if you can. I am taking Chemistry 2046 next semester and signed up for Professor Gower.
Gower is an awesome teacher. He is funny and knows a ton about chemistry. He was interesting to listen to, and i enjoyed going to class. The class is extremely hard, but Gower is very nice and helpfull and wants to see all of his students do well.
The class isn't easy, but he's a very nice and approachable guy. I was on the borderline of B-/C+ and he bumped me up. I would recommend him to people taking the course
Sweetest teacher... Lectures are helpful to reiterate the textbook. He's so funny and always happy and smiling. Loved him for chem 1 and still love him for chem 2. His tests aren't easy but they're possible.
Gower is awesome! I had him CHM2045 &CHM2046 and it was a great choice! He is very helpful and nice (especially in office hrs). TIPS: he's skilled at putting ppl to sleep if you stay awake and pay attention he gives a lot of hints on tests. And his tests always have at least 3 questions from quizzes. I learned a lot and got a B in 2045 & A in 2046
He is light years past Mitchell in helpfulness. He actually does problems on the board and explains things. I didn't have to read the book. He is super nice, helpful and reminds me of Winnie the Pooh. This class is much more doable than Chem 1 mostly because it has a slower pace.
This teacher has no respect for his students. He does problems not he board during class but is impossible to follow. Do not even bother going to office hours because he will just tell you that he has no sympathy for you. I recommend not taking this teacher. His exams are tricky and he gives ZERO extra credit.
Reminds me of Santa. Super nice guy, had him for CHM2045. The theory lectures make everyone sleepy but with some funny stories everyone wakes up. I recommend him!
Seems like a very nice guy, I found his class very boring and I found it hard to learn in his large lecture class, so study edge basically taught me everything. His tests are hard and challenging, but overall very fair if you study the right material and what he tells you to do. His online quizzes often reflect what he will put on his tests.
Very fair, if you took his class for chm 2045 its a similar format. Only difference is he bases his exams off of his quizes in 2046. To get an A, you need to devote alot of time studying and make sure you understand the concepts really well. there is an exam that has NO math and is straight conceptual. I didn't do study edge and I was fine
Great teacher. Teaches through examples for math-based chemistry. I attended almost every lecture, did all homework, and studied a moderate amount and ended up with an A. From what I've experienced he's the best Chem 1 teacher here. Easy to understand and his quizzes are online. Highly recommended!
Chemistry at UF is pretty tough in general, Gower is nice but his lectures aren't very clear, I ended up going to other professor's lectures as well in order to understand the material.
Gower is a good teacher overall. Nice guy, sometimes funny. Lectures are sometimes hard to follow, but usually ok. The class isn't easy; YOU HAVE TO STUDY. Study Edge helps, but PRACTICE EXAMS ARE A MUST! I didn't learn that lesson until my final, which I did better in than other exams. I ended with a C+, so heed my warning if you're taking this.
Took this over summer B... despite being "accelerated" it was cake compared to chem 1. Very interesting too. Great lectures! I actually loved this class!!!
Gower is an amazing lecturer, professor, and person! Even though I was only graced with his lecturing for 6 weeks during summer B last summer, I loved every moment of it. He is extremely helpful both in and outside of class, his tests are fair and he went at a great pace, even in this accelerated curriculum. I recommend this professor!
I absolutely loved Professor Gower. His class was really interesting and I love the electrochemistry portion of the class. I failed the first exam as did everyone. worked my butt off got weekly study edge and did every problem i could find memorized all the formulas and ended up with 29/30 on the second exam. I got an A. Doable if you work.
Got C+ with him in Chem 1, in Chem 2 now. He's a good teacher, overall - Nice guy, explains stuff well, easy to talk to in office, kinda funny. Gives online quizzes, unlike others, no answer key, even if you ask. Also, NO PRACTICE EXAMS, which upsets me, cuz they make all the difference in grades.
I took both Chem2045 and Chem2046 with Gower. He's probably the best general chemistry teacher at UF, but isn't encouraging at office hours. He is helpful though, and I would recommend him. I earned an A- in Chem2046, after having a lot of difficulty in Chem2045, but I literally spent 40+ horus studying for each exam. Best of luck with the course!
Gower is really nice, of all the chemistry professors lectures I have attended I definitely enjoyed his the most. I would recommend taking his class over any others.
He's a very good professor and is very nice. In my opinion, he is much more helpful than the other chem 1 professors. The class is still very hard, but you have the best chance with him. I would definitely recommend looking into outside tutoring sources for this class even if you get Gower.
He's a decent lecturer. The only problem is that his material doesn't always line up with the exam.
The course is difficult, there is no denying that, but Gower makes the material easier to understand. Truly listen to his advice; read the textbook before lectures, do MAJORITY of the problems from the end of each chapter, attend class, and review old exams! Do not make the mistake I did and blow off the first test, start strong and finish strong.
He's a good teacher, good lecturer, the problem is the material covered in class doesn't always correlate with what's on the exam.
You get out what you put into the class, there's no other way to say it. Don't make excuses for failures or complain about results because they're good learning experiences. I failed the first exam and came back to ace the rest of the class, so no worries if you stumble a little at first ;).
Gower is so sweet and makes jokes that he laughs at, but it is adorable. I had Mitchell for like 2 days but switched to Gower because he goes at a much better pace. Does a lot of problems that are useful for the tests!! And most importantly, USE STUDY EDGE FOR THIS CLASS!!!!
Extra comments besides the rating of professor, do all the practice exams before the test, and for the final go over all of the first 3 exams, it is mostly the same problems with different numbers.
Although I did struggle with the material, Gower's enthusiasm about the subject made the class intriguing. Great one-on-one, I definitely recommend going to his office hours. Aside from material clarification, I heard some great stories!
By FAR the best chemistry professor at UF. great lecturer, and his exams are extremely fair. He actually cares about his students and wants them to learn; doesn't try to trick you. He gives assessments, txtbk problems, old exams, and problems in class. You don't need SE for this class,50/month is a lot. he gives you all you need, just gotta use it.
Hes not very clear with his lectures. I find myself bored and snoozing away even when I try my hardest to stay awake. I wish I had found StudyEdge earlier and used that instead of attending the lectures
Dr. Gower is a complete ass! Everyone says that he is such a "nice guy", yeah right. His test average for exam 1 this year was a fifty five percent. I had no trouble with chemistry one, which many say is easier them Chem 2, however, Dr. Gower made sure to F us all over with his exams. You would think that he would make exam 2 easier, wrong!!
Gower..... supposed to be easy and slightly laid back. Lectures in class are ok but not amazing for exam prep. This semester the majority failed the first exam and the second one wasn't much better. His response was that enough students drop the course which will make the failing average low in the end. Also his head is realllly shiny
Gower's a terrible teacher. He was supposed to be good and great to learn from. I went to his office hours more than once to ask for help. His responses were always rude and condescending. His practice exams and old exams were nothing like the ones he gave. Extremely rude and told me that I wasn't working hard or studying, meanwhile I spent weeks.
So this class is tough, but Gower does have a lot of resources to be able to grab the concepts. His lectures aren't too bad, but you definitely have to be able to understand his speed talking.
I love Gower, but his lectures were at a really bad time for me to go, so I hardly ever went, which definitely helped my grade. Once I went back, it helped so much more. He's very smart at describing chem concepts that I never understood and I wish I could take him again.
His lectures dont make sense to students wo a solid chemistry backround. "Why the hell is he teaching it THAT way." is what I thought to myself a lot in his class. I wouldn't have passed without study egde. His one on one office hours are great for extra help. He's a really sweet guy who knows exactly what he is doing, just not how to teach it.
Tests were very difficult and often very tricky. He really enjoys chemistry and is a very nice guy. I had to get a Tutor to save my semester but ended it very well.
-Very nicepassionate professor, but not the best lecturer-- using the textbook helps a lot -Gives 3 tests, ea with 20 MC questions -Participation in discussion is mandatory & can save your grade -GO TO HIS OFFICE HOURS!!
Made me appreciate chemistery
Professor Gower was great for CHM2045. Even though I was never good at chemistry, I was able to get an A because I went to every lecture and did all of his homework. Gower really cares about his students, so if you're doing all your work and still struggling, he will be happy to help you.
This semester he gave 6 exams and a final and it was SOOO EASY. I love Dr. Gower I recommend him to anyone. The first day of class he said "I expect more then half of you to get A's" and I quote. This guy is the bomb.
For spring 2015 he had 6 tests instead of 3 which was really helpful. There was still only one drop but 1 extra credit question on each test (10 questions + bonus) made up for it. Love his lecture, but he can go off topic at times.
OK, so I had Gower for CHM2046 and when I took the course he had 3 exams and a final. His first two exams were SO hard. Like, insanely hard. But for the third exam, he literally gave every question on the exam to us in lecture and everyone aced it. So he is definitely a fair guy and he's super awesome! Definitely take him if you can!
He's an awesome lecturer. The class consists of weekly homeworks and quizzes, 3 exams, and a final.
I took Gower for Chem 1 and loved him so I took him for Chem 2. His tests are fair you just need to study for them. His lectures can be hilarious because he is a really funny guy. I didn't get the grade I wanted because I did not put in the necessary effort. Study well and you will pass. I would take a class with him and his shiny head again.
Dr. Gower decided to change his syllabus up a little bit this semester. The class consisted of 6 exams plus the final. The exams are extremely similar to past ones. There really is no excuse to fail this class. He is very approachable during office hours. He is hilarious!. I had korolev and switched. Best decision ever!! However, u need study edge!
Gower is a great professor; he tells you what you need to know for the exam which is great. However, read the textbook and follow along! Dont fall behind, it can really hurt your grade. Go to office hours, he is super helpful or go to the TA. Use study edge!! Its fairly accurate with his exams.
Gower is a very animated professor. There are times where he will ramble on and sound confusing, but in the end he does his job and teaches us the material. You definitely need to do the online practice quizzes and just practice in general to understand the concepts to do well. Practice the previous exams and you'll be fine.
Had him for chemistry 2 and it was very difficult. While he is a nice man, he would say that the exams would be one way, and then deliver something completely different when the exam came along. Exams had difficult wording, expects you to know things without him telling you, boring lecturer, and doesn't really care enough about his students' .
Gower recently decided to change the way he does the class and it definitely made the class more difficult. The practice problems, exams, and quizzes given don't really correlate with what's presented on the exam and the questions are a lot tougher. He is also not a very good lecturer and it's hard to follow him when he's trying to teach.
Found his lectures to be hard to follow along with so I definitely recommend Study Edge if you can get it. Otherwise, Gower is very approachable in office hours and he provides many resources to study from. Very fair exams if you study old exams and the online quizzes he posts.
Gower is a good professor but his tests were very tricky. He was super helpful in office hours however so go to those!!! Study edge also helps a lot because there would be things on his exam that study edge covered more than he did in lecture. Definitely do the practice exams and go to office hours because he doesn't always make things clear
Gower is nice and a pretty good lecturer, probably second best in the chemistry department behind Korolev. However, his tests are HARD and I would never have done as well as I did without using Study Edge. So I recommend Gower if you can't get korolev, and either way I definitely recommend using Study Edge.
Gower was a pretty good teacher, at least compared to the others I've had at UF. As far as I've heard, the only superior chemistry teacher is Korolev, but if you can't get her, Gower's a fine choice. The tests are hard, but all chemistry tests are hard. Study Edge definitely helps, though, and I 100% recommend using it rather than the textbook.
Chem 1 was probably one of my least favorite classes only because its a weed out course. For chem 1 the exams are the same for all the professors but Gower is one of the better professors. His class is easy going. To do the well in chem 1, go to class, do your hw and use study edge as another study tool (makes chem 1 so easy a cave man can do it!)
I took Gower for CHM2045 (twice to be exact, whoops) and decided to take him again for Chem2. Gower is a very jolly fellow and is clear with his notes, but I found it difficult to pull practice problems from his lectures. Instead of spending hundreds on a textbook, I used study edge for extra problems/review and ended up with an A in the class.
He is tough to follow in his lectures so what helped me out when i was taking this class was Study! They explained everything exceptionally and I received the grade I wanted in the class.
Mr. Gower is hilarious during his lectures! He is one of the best gen. chem. professors in my opinion. In order to do well in the class, practice the online hw and get Study Edge. Plenty of opportunity to do well!
He's a nice guy but his lectures aren't actually worth attending if you do study edge. He goes through things very quickly. He doesn't assign much homework anymore, but don't make the mistake of not doing it on your own. He's funny and is very sweet but chem 1 just isn't fun.
Gower is an AMAZING teacher for Chem 1. His lectures are great, easy to follow, and I personally find him to be extremely amusing to listen to. He's very clear, gives good examples, and really sets up to PASS the class with an A at that matter. I didn't use study edge and I got an A. He's so great so if you can take any class with him, do it.
For CHM2045 he is literally the best. You don't have to attend lectures if you keep up with the material online and go to study edge. For exams, he likes conceptual questions rather than too much calculation. CHM2045 is a hard class, don't get me wrong, but Gower makes it enjoyable. If I had to take it again, I'd take Gower again.
Great professor, would recommend to everyone taking CHM 2046. He is very helpful in his office hours and his exams are very fair. Go to office hours, he drops hints! I failed the first exam, but then got A's on the second and third exam. I got an A overall, thanks to his teaching! I really wish he was teaching orgo!
He was fantastic in CHM2045 because we was very clear on the concepts and if you ever needed help he would stand at the front of the classroom after lectures and answer any questions you may have. Definitely want to take for CHM2046 too!
Gower is a great chem 1 professor! I definitely enjoyed his class a lot. He is clear on what to expect on his exams and what kinds of problems you should know for the exam. I used Study Edge but mainly just to get more practice problems, otherwise I would've done just as great without it!
I had Gower for CHM2045 and I was very impressed overall. The class was still challenging but his lectures and online tutorials made the exams much more manageable. Very receptive and open to students who ask questions. He also says lots of funny comments and stories during lecture!
Favorite professor I've had at UF yet. His lectures are animated, interesting and you won't find yourself falling asleep ever. Really funny guy loves telling jokes and going off on interesting tangents. Second exam was hard third super easy and his final is conceptual. Just take notes and study the old exams and practice problems and you're golden
Dr. Gower is one of the best professors I have had at UF so far. He understands that Chemistry is going to be a tough subject for many, esp. those who have never had a background in the subject. He fights for his students. He often blocks the other professors from putting things that are too much/too hard for CHM 2045 tests and course.
Dr. Gower was the best! I wish I had him for CHM2045 but my Chem 2 experience was amazing because of him. He cares about his students and loves his job teaching. I got a B+ in Chem 1 but made an A in Chem 2. His tests are fair and not tricky, if you study, you're in great shape.
Gower is such an awesome professor. He explains everything so clearly and in lay-man's terms. He is so nice and actually wants students to succeed. His tutorials and quizzes are online and are questions from past exams-- which is amazing because if you practice these, you're set for the exam. I'm making sure I take him for chem 2.
Gower's class can be challenging at times tl different people but it's my firm belief that he is a wonderful chemistry professor. He exudes a certain relatability to the students even though he's easily 40 years older than most of them. His tests are generally fair and even have a little extra credit. Your scores accurately depict your knowledge.
I'd definitely recommend chem 2 with Gower! It's chemistry so it's hard, but it's not that bad of a class. There's extra credit on every exam. Gower is a nice dude who seems like he'd always be there for you, even if he does talk about Brad Pitt a little too much to be called normal.
Taking chem 2 with Gower is a lot of fun and a good learning experience. He will teach you a lot about what you need to know and how things work. However sometimes its hard to decipher what's important for the test and what's not, so I used study edge to reinforce the concepts and get an insight for what the tests would cover. Fun class though
I went to class for the first two weeks and Gower was funny and a pretty good teacher, however to learn chemistry its mostly learned on your own. I stopped going to class and just relied on study edge and learning how to do every single problem they had shown as well as old practice exams, I ended with a 97, so just focus on learning the test.
Took Gower for both chem 1 and 2 and he definitely taught me how to study and work for the grade I want. He's so hilarious and lectures were always pretty fun. Exams were great because extra credit was always offered. He really cares about the students. I used study edge and got a 220/200 on my final.
I didn't learn anything by going to class or through his worksheets. This wasn't a terrible class though if you use Study Edge to help learn everything. His tests are somewhat consistent and study edge is good at knowing whats going to be on it and helping you prepare for it!!
His lectures are really funny and always recorded so you can watch them online if you miss class, but its much easier to understand if you actually go. While I hear negative things about them, I personally like his lectures. If you pay attention you'll be fine for the test. He's also really helpful if you go tot him during office hours.
His lectures are utterly useless in actually learning anything. He tends to go way too specifically into irrelevant topics, and skimming over important ones. Most of your learning is going to happen outside of class. He also likes to give exam overviews of the topics that will be on the exam and neglect to mention a topic. Just use study edge.
Chem is hard, but Dr. Gower helps. His lectures go kinda fast but if you take notes and use Study Edge, you'll be okay. He's a funny guy, which makes lecture not as bad as it could be. I liked his weekly tutorials, especially since they were all old exam questions. He really cares about his students, even though theres so many
Dr. Gower is a good man, he deeply cares for his students and will help you pass. However, he tends to lecture on for the entire class period and jumps between topics often with no clear transition. Unlike Korolev or Sumner, he does not to clicker questions or give homework to help reinforce topics. A lot of the class is self learnig.
He explains concepts really well, and uses humor to make the subjects interesting. I think he really understands what students want in a professor and acts that way. I just think he is an amazing teacher and such an adorable/funny old man!!!
Best chem professor at UF, ONLY IF you're a independent learner. He won't force you to learn, no quizzes, no clickers, no mandatory attendance. If you need someone to hold your hand, not the professor for you. 85% of the class is tests, focus on those and go to office hours if you need help. He literally drops exam questions in class. luv him
He's a nice guy, and his lectures are fairly interesting. You can really tell he enjoys what he does and that helps a lot. I took him my first semester out of high school and I was not ready for the level of difficulty (not his fault at all). That said, it isn't that bad once you figure out how to study for it. Study Edge is very helpful too.
Professor Gower really cares about his students and wants all of them to do well. However, he doesn't give assignments or supply sufficient practice material in order to master the course. He is humorous, yes, but that doesn't make up for his lack of elaboration on topics.
Gower is a very nice guy. After the first couple of weeks, I never went to class. If you want very little homework, take him. There is only one assignment per unit/chapter, and you have five tries to complete them, so you can get them all right. The tests are hard, but standardized for all chem 1 so it isn't even dependent on Gower at all.
Hands down the best chemistry professor at UF. Chem 1 is not hard, take it from someone who failed chemistry in high school. The key to passing is TIME, do his old exams, and sign up for study edge. The more you practice the better you will do.
If you show up for class and do the online tutorials he makes, you should be fine. But you have to actually pay attention and not cheat on the online homework. He also has old tests uploaded on Canvas to practice. They're almost exactly like the real tests. If you can understand these you're good.
Gower is a decent teacher. Not the best out of all of the gen chem teachers, but the class is manageable. Study Edge is super helpful in consolidating the information and helping with questions that Gower tends to put on exams frequently. Overall, Gower is a decent teacher.
Had Gower for both CHM2045 and CHM2046. Definitely go to class in order to keep up with what he is reviewing for that day. I did the problems he provided, but honestly relied a lot on all of the extra problems given by Study Edge. They gave concise reviews each week that were really a capstone for Gower's teaching that whole week.
I had Sumner for CHM2045 and Gower for CHM2046. Gower made the class easy to understand and fun to learn. Chm 2 is not easy, it takes hard work, but go to his lectures, do the hw, the practice exams and go to his office hours if need be, and you will pass. His exams are mostly straightforward, but the 3rd one is a little tough so study hard.
He's super funny and overall a great person, however I would never show up to his lectures except for the fact that UF now requires him to have clicker points. I learn more just skimming the chapter in the text and doing the homework than in class.
Gower makes the extremely bland subject of Chemistry entertaining and almost enjoyable. He often goes on tangents for 1 or 2 minutes, but I would find myself going insane in this class if not for his side notes. He is also very organized and experienced; he knows what you need to know and gives you the necessary resources to learn.
Gower has a very specific teaching style that doesn't work for all. Rather than teach concepts in class and then do practice, he jumps straight into working problems in class. Helpful to read textbook before going to class. Also, doesn't use many visual aids or notes in class. Requires a decent understanding of chem and effort to get good grades
Gower is an amazing teacher. If you do not understand something, just go and ask. He is always there and wants you to succeed. Go to office hours and atttend lecture because he is pretty funny Pay attention to Gower's lectures right before each exam as he drops a bunch of hints for what to expect on Exam 1, 2, 3 or the FInal! Honestly saved my life
I had him for chm2045, and came into it without any chem background. His teaching method was a little too disorganized for me, so reading the textbook helped. I failed the first exam relying on just what he shows in class and then i used study edge/textbook and went to korolevs lectures and got an A on my second exam, and went from an F- to an A-.
Personally found his lectures pointless, only reason to go was he gives clicker questions. Would do easy practice problems during class, but give the hardest questions on exams partially bc he had to make exams with sumner. Gives 5 tries for homework which is great. STUDY EDGE is a must to pass. Koralev is the best, but Gower is a good second.
He's a great lecturer. If you can pay attention to what he says you'll be fine. He drops hints as to some things that will be on the exam in the classes leading up to the exam, so pay attention to what he says.
Gower is a great professor, he's extremely knowledgeable about the subject and knows what he's doing. Lecture is interesting and thought provoking. The class definitely isn't easy, you need to go to lecture and study, but Gower will give you the tools to succeed.
Makes chemistry interesting and tells many real life applications of problems throughout class which makes it much more fun and easier to learn.
Gower is a very good chemistry professor. Not a pre-med, but I was able to do better in his class in Chem 2 than in Sumner for Chem 1. Tricky exams. Hilarious during lecture, but it's important to pay attention to specific details since sometimes he focuses on theory and other stuff that might not be on the exam. Study Edge is really useful too!
I had Gower for Chem 1 and 2, he's funny and entertaining in lecture and he has a passion for what he teaches. He has a pretty hands off approach, as he typically only assigns one homework assignment a week or so and that's it. His teaching style isn't for everyone in my opinion; he'll do practice problems to teach material. His exams are tricky.
Very funny person, I didn't really go to class. I did top hat from home and used Study Edge to learn the material and got an A in the class.
Professor Gower makes lectures more interesting with his personal stories. He barely gives any homework so your grade is almost entirely exams. Also, the tests are out of 20 questions and no curve or extra credit is given so it is difficult to get an A on them. I also did not like that his class was so late, at 6:15 pm.
Gower is a pretty chill and cool dude. He makes lectures funny by telling jokes, but unfortuntely the class is full of nerds and they never laugh. I didn't pay attention for most of his lectures and just learned everyting else on the internet by looking at the old exams. The 6:15 pm lecture time sucked, so I skipped a lot of them tho
I enjoyed Gowers class. Hes animated, funny, good at explaining concepts and hes clear on what will be on the exam. That being said, exams make up 85% of your grade so prep hard for each one; I managed to get an A without study edge but it was difficult. Additional points deducted because discussion classes are a joke and need more structure.
I literally never went to class, and relied on Study Edge to learn the material. HIS TEST ARE TOUGH. They require a lot of understanding. The few times i did go to class, i remember that he was very funny, and super animated. Id take him again if I could.
Dr. Gower is an excellent choice to take for chem 2. His lectures aren't long and boring. He also gives little hints in lecture on what to look for on the exams. However, his exams are tough and YOU WILL NEED STUDY EDGE.
This class itself is crazy difficult. Its very hard to get by if you dont have experience in IB or AP chem. Gower is a funny guy, but flies through the material like its less than review. Had to rely on study edge and still struggled a bit. dont think that gower is an easy professor. The tests are hard and determine nearly all of your grade
Gower is an excellent choice for Chem 2 if you did well in Chem 1. I personally like chem so maybe I'm biased, but it is an extremely doable class especially if you pair it with bio. Do the practice exams and utilize office hours as much as you can and you should be straight. No need for study edge, but dedicate the time to the stuff he provides u.
I took gower for chem 1 & 2. I think he is very straight forward. He makes it obvious what he thinks is important or not. The worksheets from discussion are good practice but not for the test. Study edge is a must. Overall he's a good choice. Also if you go to all the discussions but skip lecture you still get all the points for attendance
Gower is clearly passionate about the subject and he tries to make the lectures enjoyable by making jokes. He takes his time to explain things and makes sure that everyone understands the concepts. The only negative to me is how the practice exams questions do not reflect the difficulty level of the actual exam. Practice with outside materials
His lectures are not the best, but he does try his best to make the information as interesting as he can. Only thing is you basically teach yourself a lot of the material. The tests are not too hard as long as you do the practice exams.
Gower's lectures are entertaining, but this can often cause him to teach material too slowly by taking up too much time with stories or jokes. However, we covered all the material necessary, and it's not too difficult. There are online pop quizzes every few weeks. He no longer uses Top Hat for attendance, and lecture videos are posted online daily.
Gower's a great professor. His lectures are enjoyable and he cares about his students. He explains difficult concepts in multiple ways and gives examples of real-life applications of the info. I found the practice quizzes he had up on Canvas prepared me the best for his exams. Would definitely recommend him for Chem 1.
Really animated guy. You can miss class and still get full credit for attendance as long as you go to the discussions. He is very reasonable if you go speak to him one on one, will try to explain the material even more. You have to do the weekly homework and go to discussion to do well on weekly quizzes. Tests are application based. Study and A.
Gower is funny but very scattered. Highly recommend Study Edge for this class. Make sure you do the practice problems and you should be fine. It's not that hard if you put in the work and do the homework (even if it is optional).
Took him for CHM2045. Not a bad professor, but I didn't like his teaching style. He mostly just reads off his Powerpoint slides and go through the examples really fast. If you are confident with chemistry, I would take him. Otherwise, he won't prepare you for the exams. He only gives homework once a week. DEFINITELY get Study Edge if you take him.
I had Gower for CHM2046. He is a pretty good professor but tends to ramble on sometimes. His tests are quite fair and not too tricky and you tell he cares about his students. He also uploaded all of his lectures online. I would highly recommend Study Edge for this class as they give great exam reviews that get you prepared for the tests!
Gower was an awesome professor for CHM2046. When I had him, Irma messed up our schedule and he shift everything in our favor. If you go to class, take note and do practice exams, you should not be surprised by any of the exams. He prepares you super well for the content that will be on it and drops hints during lectures as well :)
I took Gower for chem 1 and 2 and he is great but for me the lectures weren't super helpful, he briefly explains a concept then does practice problems, maybe if you already understand concepts before the class you would get more out of the lectures. I had to use study edge to get the concepts and review for exams and it was super helpful!!!
I really like Gower as a person, but his lectures were sometimes hard to follow. Study Edge was super helpful because they would get ahead on the material and explain it really well in their reviews which helped lecture make so much more sense.
Not a lot of homework. Just quizzes every now and then to check up on you. I really like that he trusts you to do however much studying you need. Lectures aren't mandatory, but when you do go he is funny and knowledgeable.
He is not very good at teaching chemistry. He knows his subject but doesn't do a great job of explaining it. He's not the worst professor, you just might have to put in more time to get things on your own.
Skipped lectures, got study edge, did well on exams. gower is a funny person, not the best professor.
Must depend on study edge to learn anything for the exams
Dr. Gower is a really nice guy, but a good amount of his lectures are spent rambling about mildly relevant topics. Assigns the least amount of work (thats due for a grade). Most of your grade is based on how you do on the exams so although Gower does not make the bookwork or practice quizzes due.... DO THEM and you should be fine!
There was an exam where the average was a 50% & he told us that he "had never been more disgusted by students in all his years of teaching", & when asked questions about exams, his answer was rude & unhelpful. This class was a terrible experience both emotionally & academically. He makes students feel stupid, & like they will fail at everything.
Gower goes way too fast in class, but he uploads his lectures online so it's easy to go back and watch again. He doesn't assign any mandatory work but the practice problems online are extremely helpful and I recommend you do them. Attendance isn't mandatory and I always went to lectures earlier than mine. You just have to study a lot.
Decent chem professor, relatively speaking. His lectures are ok, but to pass with an A I would definitely recommend Study Edge for this class. They offer study material that Gower simply does not. His PowerPoints are very confusing without any context. I found myself skipping a majority of classes since attendance doesn't count, ended up with a 97
Oh CHM2045... either way it is difficult at UF and Korolev with CHM2095 is your best bet for CHM2045. Use Study Edge. He will go through his lectures quickly, does a quick example, then the exam comes and it's super hard. He is pretty funny and seems like a reasonable guy but the dept. likes to make the exams really difficult to "weed" out majors.
Very kind and tries his best during lecture, however succeeding in gen chem is all about practicing on your own so there's only so much a professor can do.
Gower is a good professor, he knows his stuff and is a pretty funny guy. If you attend lectures, it does help and he definitely tries his hardest to get the content across to the students (especially in CHM2046). However, without doing work on your own or using resources like study edge it would be very difficult to get a decent grade.
He is really awful sometimes. He gets really mad sometimes and is not considerate of his students. If the class average is low then sometimes his response will not be the best. Personally, emailed him once and he sent me back a nasty email. He has intentions but sometimes does not care.
Gower seems like a great professor at first because he's funny and makes lecture an ok time, but after I got StudyEdge I realized that I dont learn anything when I go. He makes it sound like the concepts are soOo easy, but the tests are insanely hard and this class is basically a teach yourself class. Maybe if you go to his office hours it'll help.
Gower is a great human being who is funny and really wants his students to be interested in what he is teaching. He makes class fun, although the material is somewhat hard to grasp the first time around. I took him for both 2045 and 2046 and loved him. Definitely need to study a lot for his tests, but he is fair with his questions esp. in chem 2.
All of my friends and I loved Gower's class (we took him for 2045 and 2046); I got As on exams without Study Edge, so it's possible (although I would definitely recommend Study Edge for most). Overall, Gower's lectures are informative and entertaining, the textbook helps with complex stuff, and Gower's exams are fair, he really cares about students
Professor Gower is an nice guy but if you dont attend every lecture you will not do well at all. Theres weekly homework and quizzes which are fairly straight forward but they are only five percent of your grade. Exams are everything!!! Exams are tough to pass and only have 15 questions so if you miss 5 you are automatically at a D
Dr. Gower is a pretty solid chem prof. You dont really master topics during lecture, a lot of it is going home and understand it for yourself. Overall, really funny and easy going but exams are tough
Gower is a fine professor, but he has very high expectations of his students. I did really well on exams without studyedge, but I studied for a week. I know many people who failed all of his exams so dont slack. Few quizzes that you should really try to get 100%. Tests are based off lecture and hw. I recommend flashcards and practice problems.
