This class is tough. His test and quiz average was 70%. I would avoid taking him unless you enjoy studying excessively and like taking short answer and essay tests. Class was slightly interesting but all in all I would recommend taking this class with someone else or not at all!
got an A in the class with minimal studying there is a lot of outside work like experiments and papers but the tests are straight forward and easy. he is very entertaining in class. made me want to go to class
Excellent teacher. Makes class funny and worth going to. Tests aren't too bad. One of the better teachers at VCU.
Green is a great teacher, and he knows Psychology, but he's also really hard. The exams are ridiculous, so you have no choice but to study. He doesnt use the text book in class, but you must read it outside of class. GOOD LUCK. god be with you.
professor green is really great. this is my 3rd time taking psyc101 and he is def. hte best teacher i have had. he makes class fun and interesting, he doesnt just stand there and lecture. his tests arent that bad as long as you review the material on the powerpoints (which he posts online) and you dont need to buy the book
A great teacher. Interesting class as well. Test are pretty complicated though. Prepare to write a couple of 2 page essays and dedicate a couple of hours outside of class for experiments. I would recommend him. Make sure you go to class.
This class is hard, no matter what these guys say about this Prof. his class is real hard, you have no idea what to study during test and quizzes. Pick another class instead of his. You really have to work your a** off to get a "C". Get another class if you can.
intro psych covers LOTS of info, he does a good job addressing it all. interesting prof - he KNOWS his stuff. come to class, take notes, study...tests will be fine. long tests w/ lots of info, but no surprises. TAKE his class, esp for intro psych...hes a good, funny guy and VERY willing to help.
He's a great professor, take his class, you'll actually learn something. Make sure to keep up w/ the online labs and the experiments. He also posts lecture powerpoints online so that's helpful. His final is not so easy so make sure to study !
He's a really good teacher. Social Psychology with him was interesting. His curriculum is an appropriate load, and he's really good at explaining concepts with examples. Papers, Tests, attendance, and Quizzes are all a part of this class.
One of my favorite classes to date. He was amazing very intera ctive, espically with a class of 300. I wanted to come to his class. You do have to read though. The experiments are that bad. Overall amazing professor, take his class!
Very interesting, has a great personality what a plus! Very nice but do not be fooled you will need to pay a lot of attention and have to work in his class. Answers challenging questions very well! Definitely take his class.
GREAT PROFESSOR! Dr. Green is my favorite professor! Going to class is a MUST. He tells you information that simply isn't in the notes or in the text books. This class is only easy if you go, if not I'm sure you will have a hard time. I definitely recommend this class!
He is a great professor! His tests were pretty hard but he does curve and he was very easy grading papers. coming to class is a must though, because he notices who is coming and who is not and really helps out people who come and try.
He is a nice guy and will keep you interested but the material is really boring. His texts are EXTREMLY hard you have to read the book in order to pass them and you must show up for class he sends an attendance sheet aroud. I wouldn't take him if you have to opportunity not to.
Dr. Green is very interesting and fun and does his best to keep the class interested in what can be a boring subject. He is very interactive and has fun demonstrations and stories. In my opinion, he is one of the best professors at VCU. But, to pass this class you should attend every class and make sure that you read the book. Studying is a must.
Great professor overall, Just had no interest in the subject. But he does a great job making it interesting with interactive demos. Labs suck and experiments suck too. But overall he is a good professor.
Great professor! Very organized and clear about what is going to be on exams. Make sure you go to class, he takes attendance and it may be at any time
Great Professor, very easy to understand. His tests are hard but if you study, you should do good. His papers are pretty easy and you should get a good grade on them if you try hard enough. Make sure to do all the labs as they can really boost your grade. Take this class seriously and you should easily get an A. He curves the final grade!
I love Dr Green! He is definitely one of the best professors ive had at VCU. Took Psych 101 and 321 with him. If you read and write down his examples, you will get an A or B.
Very good professor. You must go to class though, he will sometimes ask about specific things he ONLY explains in class (not in the textbook.. at all).
Dr. Green is awesome! Definitely take him
He is great i love him!!!!! the best professor i ever had! you have to work hard to fail this class. TAKE HIM!
Best teacher EVER! You do need to go to class though, he uses examples from class on the text. only read parts in the book that he specifically mentions on the outlines. For tests study the outlines and come up with your own examples. He has hilarious stories! the best teacher at VCU ive had so far.
BEST PROFESSOR EVER! He is absolutely brilliant. Takes the subject material seriously and provides students a thorough introduction to psychology. I would recommend him to everyone!
Don't have to be in class, but he notices who comes. Huge class, but made it seem personal and tried to recognize ppl who do attend. Funny and engaging- his lectures really help you understand the material, while being entertaining.
Professor Green is my favorite! He has a great sense of humor and makes the material fun and interesting. I would highly recommend taking his class. Very organized, efficient, structured. Engages with the students via demonstrations, discussion, etc. Wonderful!!
Prof. Green is easily my favorite professor at VCU thus far. Take him! He does a lot of in class demonstrations and works hard to make the material enjoyable. He didn't have an attendance sheet, but going to class really helps and like I said, its fun anyways.
He is a great guy. Keeps the class awake and entertained. Tests are BRUTAL though. Study or prepare to walk away with a low grade...his final exam is worth a good portion of your grade...both other exams cover a vast amount of material as well.
Take this class! He is a great teacher. You have to study hard for the tests because they are a little hard. But its a fun class! Take it!
Great teacher who tells a lot of jokes in every class! Want to get an A? The only thing you need to do is to study his slides!
Fantastic professor! by far the best professor (of any subject) I have ever encountered, hands down. Take this dude, he keeps the entire class in stitches, is incredibly competent, smart, quick witted, nice, the list goes on and on. Fantastic profesor and human being. Amazing class. Can't stress this enough.
Professor Green is an awesome professor. His humor will help you get through his 3 hour long class. To get an A, just study his slides and read the textbook.
Jeff is Awesome! I love his class he is always telling jokes. The 3 hour class can be long but overall he is really interesting and a great teacher! TAKE HIS CLASS!
He really means well however is not the best. He is more focused on getting through the lesson than whether students actually grasp the concept. Tests make or break your grade they are worth a lot of points.
Great teacher!! Slightly easier than other teachers simply because he makes the class interesting and has a great personality. As in all PSYC courses, there are papers. However, they are really easy to do. I would recommend not getting the book for this class, but buy access to the labs on the lab website (pretty inexpensive). Attendance is taken.
Great Professor, Makes You Earn Your Grade, Yet Fair
Dr. Green is a funny guy--makes the 3 hr lectures better. Don't use the book much..BUT..there are online labs, several papers, and required study participation. He knows his stuff, but the exams are difficult and he does a final cumulative exam. If I had the choice, I would choose someone else. But, if you like psychology, take him.
He's a good teacher. His class is fun even though it's 3 hours, because he offers breaks and on some occasions let's the class out early. The labs are simple to do, they're online so the answers are easy to obtain, the only hard part is the tests. STUDY, for if you don't do well you're done.
Good professor. Is funny and interested in the material. Does frequent demonstrations. I just find that the 3 hr. class is too long for me. But he gets that it's a long time. He will let class out early sometimes. Study for the tests. They can be somewhat challenging. Do the SONA credit, do your best on the labs and papers, and you'll be fine.
Very good teacher; he mentions some of the research he's done to contribute to the field of Social Psychology. It's a three-hour class, but he is able to make it enjoyable. I definitely recommend his class.
great teacher. loved the subject. Tests are a tad difficult. Otherwise great class
Tries to keep things interesting, but a little odd. Assigns essays due every week on kind of random topics. Also tricked a bunch of kids into eating cooked mealworms. I was a psych major before taking this class, but not after.
Green is alright. His notes come directly from the slides he puts on blackboard except for a few minor points that he may or may not put on the test. He takes attendance randomly, so be careful. He spends a lot of time talking about himself. The class is quite boring. I'm a psych major but this class is making me rethink that.
So I'm going to be completely honest and say, if you want to get an A in this class your best bet it to use quizlet, IT WILL SAVE YOUR LIFE. Just type in the words in each chapter and click "auto-fill" and quiz yourself. You'll ace the tests. Good luck to everyone, it's an awesome class with an awesome teacher
Professor Green was AWESOME. The class was 2 hours and 40 minutes long, but he made it really fun and interesting. It is so easy to listen to him lecture and the information is genuinely interesting. Takes random attendance rarely, online labs due every Monday night. DEFINITELY choose him as your PSYC 101 professor!!
Jeff knows what he is talking about, he is very intelligent. I had a super hard time on the tests, he gives a lot of detailed Power Points and his tests are super specific. If you want to pass, study hard on the material and stay on top of the assignments, there are a lot!
He is really helpful and clear when it comes to the information. It is definitely in your best interest to study a lot! Tests are pretty tough, but studying and study sessions are really helpful. He is also always usually up to help if you have any questions.
Green's class is a little tough in that the questions on his exams are very specific and require you to have an in-depth knowledge of the topics. You'll have to put in some effort outside of class because his lectures don't always cover everything. Other than that, he tries to make class entertaining although he'll rarely let you out early.
Overall, his class was a pretty easy one. You definitely have to go to class that is the most important part. I ended up with an A in the class but I'm pretty sure that he bumped everyone up a few points at the end of the semester because i did the math & i had an 87%. His tests are somewhat challenging, especially the first test and the final exam
Everything that you need to pass the class is stated on course syllabus, which you should review frequently throughout the semester. This class requires the use of the textbook for online labs and material on quizzesexams. The SONA experiments were pretty cool and you can do them all online to receive full credit -- just make sure to actually do them.
Professor Green is okay. I wouldn't go as far as recommending him to all of my friends, but he is a decent professor. A peeve of mine was how he teaches a 101 class as if it is a graduate course. 7 pm to 940 pm class and he uses EVERY minute of that time. Attendance is graded, you have to do lab studies outside of class, tests are hard. Good luck!
I love psych, but this professor ruined it for me. He doesn't even know what he is talking about in his lectures. When someone asks a question about it he will justify that he doesn't know the answer to it because he is a social psychologist even though he typed it in his powerpoint. Just study powerpoint slides and you will get an A.
The quintessential awesome psych professor.
You can tell he's a professor passionate about what he teaches. He has funny lectures that make you want to go to class, and is always available via email. Very easy going guy to talk to, and the class is pretty straightforward as well. I would highly recommend him and I would take him again if I could!
I really regret taking Dr. Green for Psych 101. I had a 7-9:40pm once a week and we never got out early and it was so boring every time. He's kinda funny but its just such a long class its almost impossible to stay and pay attention at all. The tests are so hard and he gives you almost nothing for them, they screwed up my grade.
His tests are really hard even if you study a bunch for them. He always takes the lecture to the last min or even foes over the allotted time. The powerpoints he has are extremely vague, so you have to go to class to fill in extra information he talks about in class.
Jeff is one of the best professors I've had! He's really into what he does (social psych), and he's hilarious. He makes a 2h40min class feel not so painful. There are 3 tests, including the final, and two papers (1 two page, and 1 6-8 page relationship paper). No study guides, but if you pay attention and review well, tests are easy. Take him!
I had Professor Green for psychology 101 my first semester of college. Every assignment and their due dates are on the syllabus. There are 3 test and 3 papers. The book is unnecessary, if you go to class and study his slides you'll do fine.
Super helpful professor. His lectures are fun to listen to and interesting. Prof Green is really easy to talk to and willing to listen. He made the 3 hr class go by pretty quickly, and the three tests were straight-forward (multiple choice and 1 short answer). 2 short papers other than that, both fairly simple. Great guy overall. Take him!
He uses every bit of lecture time. Not clear about what to study, test questions are tricky. Pay attention in class, especially to examples. He's kinda funny, but pretty dry. I got an A, but it took an average amount of effort.
Long lectures but he gives you a break in between. Random attendance taken during class on paper to turn in, but rare. Tests are tough.
I am a psychology major and have loved every teacher but him. He is quite arrogant and controlling with his pet peeves about lap tops and cell phones. His tests are hard and the way he asks questions are very tricky. He wants you to know SO MUCH information for his one class. I would avoid him if you can, especially if you have a heavy school load.
He's a pretty nice professor. I'd suggest another professor before him to a friend however. There are only 3 tests and 2 papers in the class. The papers are relatively simple but the tests can be a bit challenging if you do not prepare for them. He sometimes does assignments in class that count as attendance but it's not mandatory technically.
Dr. Green is really passionate about social psychology and teaching. His lectures are always funny and engaging and he helps you apply the concepts to real-life so they're easier to remember. Posts all his slides online but he takes attendance at random and lectures are worth going to. Highly recommend!
Tests are tough only if you don't pay attention to the lectures or take notes. Taking good notes and making sure you understand the concepts fully is instrumental in getting an A. Definitely not an easy A class, but it's doable.
Dr. Green's class was so interesting and he created an interactive learning environment. Attending lectures is really the only way to get the most out of the class.
He's a pretty cool guy and really understanding. He's also really funny. He's a stickler on phones and laptops though, so be warned.
Green rarely took attendance for my class (1 day a week PSYC 321), but when he did it counted for credit. I hardly used the book, but sometimes he'd skip over a topic and say "refer to the textbook because it'll be on the test". Tests aren't too bad, but he includes essay questions (at least 2. Prompts are posted b4 test) and lectured after tests.
He's an awesome guy! He sounds a lot meaner on blackboard than he actually is. He definitely cares about his students and will help you out, and he really loves the subject he teaches. His lectures are fun and engaging too. Tests are from the chapter outline, and aren't difficult if you study.
His lectures are awesome. He posts lecture notes and a textbook chapter outline before class so I never read the textbook. I only used the notes he provided and still did well on exams. The papers will sneak up on you though, so read the syllabus and mark dates on your calendar. He makes Psych 101 interesting and is full of funny anecdotes/jokes.
I had Jeff for a 3hr night class and he made it bearable with his jokes throughout the lecture. He takes attendance randomly at the end of classes where he can tell a lot of people left during the break. The online labs are kind tedious but not too hard. The tests are NOT just knowing definition you need to understand the big picture to pass.
Sometimes he explains things and he doesn't even know what he is talking about himself. He seems to confuse himself when he's lecturing. In addition, this is an easy class, he just makes it harder than it has to be. If you ask him for farther explanation on studies, his answer is always "I'm not sure." Questions on the test that he never covered
I wouldn't take him for PSYC 101. I sat into a different pysc class, and they had OPEN NOTES on the final and extra credit. This is the lowest grade I've gotten for the entire semester, BUT you will learn a lot about psychology, compared to the other psyc professors. His tests are just HARD, though. You can still get an A if are slightly below 90.
He is a good professor. He will teach you the most so if you are interested in psychology, take him. He makes jokes and allows breaks. He randomly takes attendance. He is kind hearted and has solid outlines for his tests and assignments. Pay attention, take notes, you'll be fine!
Jeff seems very knowledgable in his field, but he takes his lectures way too seriously. I took the 2hr 40min lecture once a week and it was hard to sit through. Calls people out for being on their phone and looking at their laptops too much. The average grade on our midterm was 65%. Would not recommend.
Dr. Green is a good professor, but beware, his exams are difficult. I would avoid the evening 2h40min lecture. The material isn't too hard, but the class would be easier if it was TR or MWF. However, if you put in the work and study, you'll do fine. Dr. Green is fair in grading, and a good guy overall. Papers and weekly labs. NO extra credit.
get ready to form a study group and grind. the material is easy when you constantly read the book but this manz jeff is unpredictable with his exam questions. his exams are long and somewhat hard in terms of wording. ADVICE: GO TO HIS SI LEADERS' SESSIONS!!!! also the way to get an A is by taking textbook notes and always being on your psych grind
I had Dr. Green for the 2h40m night class. It's difficult to sit through at the beginning but you get used to it near the end. You have to write 4 papers (two worth more than the others). He takes attendance 4 times randomly, but it's usually when he gives a homework assignment. His tests are pretty difficult. He does curve your grade at the end.
The lectures were really helpful and very interesting. The papers weren't graded super hard and he was always willing to answer questions.. The class is super long and hard to sit through and he doesn't like people on their phones. Just make to study and keep up with the work.
Green's class was sometimes fun but often times long and exhausting. The papers are two pages in length, with the exception of the final one, which is 4. He threatens attendance often, but really only does it when there's homework. His exams are long and often reference both the textbook and the lecture material. If you work hard, you can get an A.
This man LOVES talking about Sex. Not only do you have 4 papers and 4 tests, but you also do online work and participation work through SONA which is this research thing. I suggest not taking this class at night expecially if its two hours long.
Dr. Green is an excellent professor! Attendance is taken randomly throughout the semester, so it's usually best just to show up. I didn't use the textbook in this course and rather made sure I understood material he told us to read in the book via web. He's very clear about material that might be on the test. Tests are extremely straight forward!
Jeff has been my favorite professor at VCU so far. Long lectures, but rarely goes past time unless he's staying to help those who want to review for the next test. Easy 2-page papers, online SONA experiment requirements, and lab quizzes. Very willing to help students, and tests are multiple choice. Also getting more lenient on the laptop policy!
Really interesting lectures. Unfortunately, tests are not where I excel, so even though I went to every class and took notes, I still almost failed. Attendance is not mandatory; however, he will take attendance every once in a while for ten points.
Hes a really entertaining lecturer and explains topics really well. You do need to study, some terms you need to know for the test are only in the textbook, he posts his powerpoints but youll understand it more if he explains it. 3 Attendance checks, one quiz, 3 tests, two papers (which are assigned way too close to one another so start early.
The information isn't hard to understand but for that reason, this professor tries to make it sooo difficult. What's taught in class is also extremelyyy different on the test, so if you are not a test taker beware. Study guides don't really help- his class also reminded me of being in highschool lol so many rules!
lectures were interesting since you could tell he cares about the material. extremely lecture heavy and will randomly take attendance three times throughout the semester for points so just go. grade based on three tests and two papers so PARTICIPATE AS MUCH AS YOU CAN! I wasnt that overtly talkative student but participating bumped my grade hugely
Dr. Green for me was very hard. He gives A LOT of work and lectures A LOT. Be ready to spend all your time on this one class. Half of the stuff learned in lectures isnt on the test and half the stuff on the test isnt in the lectures. Be aware of self-teaching and struggling. Granted it was online due to Covid.
You can tell he enjoys the material he teaches, but he makes the class much more difficult that it needs to be. Final exam was 100 questions, cumulative, and not all topics were fully covered in class. Lectures are also 3 hours long and he randomly calls on students so you cant zone out. There are easier psych professors- Id recommend them
Slightly difficult class. Lectures were all posted on youtube. WATCH them and copy them as notes! Some examples he mentions will be on the exam. 3 tests, 2 papers due. Textbook and essay book can be found online for free. Essays are not graded harshly. I didn't read the required essay book and still got an A. He requires packback for hw($30 cost)
I loved this class! Very interesting lectures and a knowledgeable professor. Weekly pack backs, 3 exams, and 2 papers. The papers were due close together, but he's an easy grader I got a 100 on both. The exams can get specific, some things are taken directly from his lectures. A textbook is listed, but I got by without it. Overall, great professor.
There is SO much work in this class. He goes way too fast during his lectures. Speaking of lectures, if you are planning in taking the 2.5 hour one - don't. It is way too long and so draining. He is a nice person but that won't help you. There are plenty of psych 101 teachers to take and it will be much easier (they actually give extra credit).
You can tell that he is very passionate and knowledgeable about social psychology. His lectures are long but entertaining and you get a break halfway through. He cares about his students and the subject. Grading is pretty easy, and most exams are open note. Papers are long but definitely manageable. Final took me about 2 hours to complete.
He seems a little aloof sometimes, and his tests are insanely hard. He appears willing to help though; however, the TA was useless.
If you want to earn a A-B will be difficult with this professor, makes the exams hard and you are teaching yourself and he makes the class harder than it should , he expects you to watch all the lectures on youtube and is awful. In general do yourself a favor and find some other teacher.
Dr. Green made class unnecessarily hard. All the harder-to-understand topics were self-taught with the ads constantly playing through his lectures.
He makes this class far harder than necessary. The workload is intense and tests are highly challenging. Jeff's enthusiasm for the subject matter is evident, and had I been able to commit my whole life to this one class, I might have found his class enjoyable. I highly recommend exploring alternative professors for a good PSYCH 321 experience.
Seems like a nice guy but just a horribly structured course. Lectures are all on youtube and from 2020 with 5 ads per lecture. The complaints in this class group chat are consistent. Also I have heard (hearsay) he doesn't grade at all and his TA picks a paragraph or two per paper and grades based on that.
this professor was incredibly rude and condescending when I tried to reach out regarding a question about test formatting. other than his personality flaws, the course was lecture HEAVY, lecture videos were on youtube, tests were incredibly hard, and I hardly learned anything this semester due to the format of his course. do not recommend.
Jeff Green's class is awful. He assigns work like he believes you solely take his class and have no other responsibilities. Very Difficult exams, long opinion based lectures, multiple 8 pg papers he will take his time grading. An unhelpful TA, Elif Celik, who blames her inability to be competent on Jeff giving her all grading responsibilities. -__-
Dr. Green is a really nice person, and you can tell he cares. However, the tests are so incredibly hard, a lot of the times they do not make sense. The class us also unreasonably long. Overall, a great person, but grading and lecture style, attendance policy, and class system needs work.
The class is lecture-heavy with YouTube videos full of ads. Exams are incredibly challenging, and you'll be largely teaching yourself the material. However, the professor seems passionate about the subject. Using Unstuck ai and the textbook can help offset the workload.
There's no doubt you'll spend a few hours a week reading and watching youtube videos. There's quite a time commitment to getting homework done in week. On the other hand, I got the vibe that there was a bigger focus on completing the work, than quality of the work. So in that sense, just do the assignments and you'll be just fine.
