I loved Hislop. Retired cops are usually some of the best instructors cuz they've done/seen it all. I felt really bad cuz I worked graveyard at the time and would pass out sometimes in class. Sorry Mr. Hislop! Very informative, can really put his experiences in perspective. And he drives a Harley? What a cool teach.

I took this guys class, not knowing it would be such a blast to take it. He's down to earth and plays it strait. He's funny when it comes to storys about when he was a police officer. All in all, I would recomend this class to anyone. He's a great teacher!

he is very clear when he speaks and always knows how to answer questions,he entertains you hella with his stories pplus he ain't stuck up and swears all the time he is an ex- sheriff deputy and he is a great teacher.

All you have to do to get an A in his class is to do all of the quizzes and the assignments. If you miss an assignment go to him and ask him to let you make up what you missed. Greaaat teacher!!DO the work get and easy A..

Hislop is one of the best instructors at Delta. He makes you understand everything. If you don't pass his class its your fault because he gives A LOT of extra credit and he lets you make up everything i.e. assignments and test. Plus he has great stories to go along with everything he teaches.

My 1st class w/ Hislop. His lectures are very interesting, real life stories, homework is easy, and you can always make-up assign. Very laid back, easy to listen to, swears all the time. Easy A.

I first met Mr. Hislop during P.O.S.T academy. He looked like a boring teacher - like the Visine Guy. But, he's not a boring professor. He knows many subjects. He could talk about DNA, cereal, abnormal psychology, and law enforcement experiences. He made it more fun and interesting. He's not a difficult teacher, but be prepared to do work!!!

Great teacher, lets you make up work, would definately take another class with him again!...but you definately need to buy the book for that class because you will use it every day...but the work for the class is so easy!

Mr hislop is a great teacher, I enjoy how he presents his topic, he's easy to understand. Most students are never bored in his class. He is honest and stern. I think he is wonderful..

21,22,23 &25 and if I had a reason I would take any other classes he teaches. Some have tests that are harder than others and most classes are easier when you actually go. He's awesome lecturer. Awesome teacher. We need more like him. Recomend any class he offers.

Very lax when it comes to requirements as this was the online version of the AJ 22 course he teaches on campus. Overall lots of book reading and on-your-own research in order to do well on the quizes and exams. The weekly unit discussions were helpful and Prof. Hislop did contribute to them sometimes be advised he may take a couple days to respond

He is a very interesting teacher

I took his AJ 21 online class. Easy A! Discussion questions & Quizzes for each chapter. Allows 2 tries for the quizzes. A lot of extra credit opportunities!

I took this online course and it was very easy. He offers extra credit, I missed one test but was still able to get an A because of the extra credit offered. You get 2 trys on the quizzes, even the mid-term and final. You can then go back after the quizzes and see what you did wrong, getting the correct answers. If you need AJ21 take him!! :)

I ABSOULTLY HAD A BLAST IN HIS CLASS. HE SOME HOW MAKES IT SEEM LIKE THERE IS NO WORK BEING DONE BUT IF YOU PUT A LITTLE EFFORT YOU LEAVE WITH A STRONG IDEA OF THE COURSES OBJECTIVES. GREAT PERSONALITY. FUNNY TWISTED SENSE OF HUMOR. LOVED THE WAY HE COMMENTED ON POLITICES LOL GOOD LAUGH.. ALL AROUND GOOD PROFESSOR.

His class was easy enough to pass during the summer. The book that is required for this class is very interesting. Not to mention the assignments are fun.

This is probably on of the best professor i had at delta so far. i took all (aj 21, 22, 23, 25) his classes during the spring semester. i had him for four hours straight. lol. he thought i was nuts to taking them all at one time, but i seem to manage and got good grades in all of them. i recommend this teacher to anyone that needs an aj class.

Mr.Hislop is one of the coolest teachers I've ever had. He makes class so fun and enjoyable and is always cracking jokes and making fun of people. He loves to cuss. Fun teacher, cusses in class, helps you when you need it just talk to him. HW accepted late if you email him ahead of time. He looks like a motorcycle gangster, but beware he is really cool. Do your homework correctly by using the book! Points will add up. Work with other students and bring your book for class assignments.

I had him for AJ 22, 23, 25. He is really cool and helps you understand everything he talks about. Make sure to pay attention in class and take notes. He is easy to get along with and a AWESOME INSTRUCTOR. Also he always posts a bulletin of (students) grades every week so you KNOW how well your doing, and not guessing. As a individual he is COOL

Great Professor, I had him prior to transfering to CSUS, his class was useful for future... If you pay attention, CSUS classes will be easy.

I took Hislop class prior to transferring to CAUS. His class was extremely useful in my other classes. If you pay attention and take good notes, classes you take at CSUS will be a breeze.

Super cool guy class is easy as long as u pay attention, writing assignment like once a week and he never keeps u the full period, he was a sheriff for like 26 years so he knows what's up!!

I took this class online on Etudes, got a B. Used the textbook to do a quiz & discussion every week. Mr. Hislop is very clear in what he wants done and most quiz questions are direct from the book, I found myself randomly reading the book for fun or interest in spare time. I recommend this teacher!

Took aj 23 online as an elective. Because of it, I found it hard to read the chapters. However, quiz were easy. Threaded dis. and quiz every week. LOTS of extra credit opportunities. Because of the extra cre. points, I got an A. Pretty straight forward class.

Very good teacher. I had him for AJ 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, and 40. Unfortunately this is my last semseter with him for criminal justice-I might take corrections classes with him later. But he is very easy, lenient on homework, and makes the class more interesting with his sense of humor. I highly recommend anyone going for a CJ degree to take him.

Really awesome teacher. I felt like I learned more because instead of learning from someone who got their knowledge from a text or taking classes all his wisdom came from experience so everything he tells you comes with a story - so much easier to learn and retain this way!!!

He's an awesome teacher! gives extra credit and only a few tests/quizzes. He is very clear and straight forward! it very easy to learn from him and retain the knowledge. Always has a story to compare what's on the textbook. I highly recommend him.

I took one of his criminal justice classes on my second semester of college. And to be honest. I thought he was real hard but if you pay attention and actually attend class, take notes and get involved then you are most likely going to pass his class. He was a cop and can tell you so many stories about what he has experienced in the past.

Easiest class I've taken! Literally no tests just short papers! Even the final exam was only a paper. You won't need the textbook.

Took this class online. He was clear of what he wanted. Everything you need to know for the quizzes and test where in the textbook. Just follow directions, and you'll do fine. You need the textbook to pass.

Buy the e-book and you will have no problems with the exams. I would only get one or two questions wrong for exam and got a perfect score on the rest. The discussions are actually pretty interesting and engaging.

I took my first online class this summer, and it was AJ21 with Professor Hislop. His class was so much fun and very easy! He was very clear on what he wanted, he gave me enough time to take the quizzes and we had really good class discussions! I would take this class again if I could. I am now taking AJ 22 with him online!

Hislop is an amazing professor. I took his class online and passed with an A. You need the book to pass as all of the homework questions are prompts from the book. However, all homework and discussion prompts are to state your opinion on a given case/legal situation. Great teacher who is very clear about what he wants and doesn't demand too much!

Great teacher all around. There is homework to do but it really didn't seem hard. I did the extra credit and passed with an "A" so I really liked him. He is also respected by students and will be there if needed.

I took him for AJ 21 and 23 his AJ 21 class was easy passed with an A but his AJ 23 class was a bit tougher, I passed with a B. I was highly recommend his class he even reopened the Midterm for people who missed it!! Great teacher fun class. You need the book to pass btw

Mr. Hislop is a wonderful teacher! He actually cares about his students and you can see it in every aspect of his work. He's very professional but has funny side which allows students to not feel overwhelmed. He understands LIFE and will work with people's needs or issues. He does have trick questions and tests you from lectures and textbook! A+++

I LOVE HISLOP! By far one of the best teachers I have ever had! He connects his past interactions / experiences in the criminal justice system to his lectures and they make them 10x more interesting. Show up to class and take notes! He moves fast during lectures so I be ready to take pictures of the screen to refer back to them later for tests.

Professor Hislop is the best professor I have ever had. Took him this semester because of my interest in criminal justice and he made that class so interesting. 10/10 recommend taking him. Short responses for homework and lots of extra credit. He gives you every chance to succeed.

Hislop was a Sheriff Deputy here in San Joaquin for 26 years. He has lots of experience in the field as well as teaching. I took him AJ 21 & 22 (little harder) books are mandatory for both. The classes themselves are very interesting. If you're struggling, go to his office hours and he'll let you make up assignments. Very cool dude.

Hislop is willing to help you on your tests and guide you in class. He offers random extra credit that's actually helpful. His in person class is a little lecture heavy but he does make it easy with his personality and his personal experience in Law Enforcement.

Professor Hislop was a great professor, he was able to incorporate his law enforcement experience with his academic one to provide a unique perspective to the administration of justice field.

I took him online and at first you look at the things and your like man ima have to write a ton but its super easy. Basically the homework is discussions with the class online and they are very interesting and fun. Gives 2 essays worth 100 points but very easy. You have to be lazy and an idiot to not pass. The Discussions are very easy!

I took AJ22 with Profesor Hislop, & class was never boring. He was funny & didnt care much about attendance but he did care about us trying & doing our work. At first even when I did all my work I had a C, I asked him why & he let me know that writing as many PCs as you can on hw & work was what he cared about so I passed his class with an easy B!

I took AJ21 Spring 2019 w Professor Hislop & enjoyed every single class, we always took notes but he made it very clear and easy to understand. He talked about his experience & it felt like less work. He gave extra credit, he was funny and wanted women & men to succeed equally in the Criminal Justice field. I passed with a B! So sad hes retiring:(

Great professor, you will have a discussion every weekend and they will be interesting. As long as you show up and study the material you will pass.

Follow the discussion guidelines and the criteria needed for each assignment and you will pass with no doubt. He gives extra credit on discussion and even quizzes! Passed this class w a 101%!

I took this class last year while still in high school. It was really easy and time manageable. The class consisted of a discussion post and a quiz due every week.

Prof. Hislop and his class was honestly very easy. Although I took his criminal justice class as an online course, I liked how lenient he was with us. Many of the quizzes and even the exams had multiple attempts, so his class was really easy to pass.

very easy class the only thing I didn't like was that his quizzes most of the time were empty or locked.
