If you need a teacher who knows the material and can help you understand it then this is the teacher for you. He was one of the best teachers I have had at Eastfield. He gives you all the notes you need and does not shy away if you need help understanding the material. As long as you study your notes, you can definitely make an A in his class.
pretty good overal noes his material
The best prof. I've ever had when it comes to explaining things. He definitely knows his stuff and is really good about answering questions/helping students outside of class.
Best Biology teacher I've ever had. I love that class.
Good teacher and he knows he stuff. He's pretty HOT to look at also!!
THE BEST BIO teacher, really knows his stuff and always always willing to help, he is very considerate and is willing to work with u,he moves pretty quick but jus stdy the notes and the handouts he gives u and u b okay on the tests, lec tests are 50 m/c and lab tests are 50 fill in blank, u have to make sure u spend time really studying the notes!!
Prof. Hughes was great... he makes sure that you're truly understanding what you're learning, and he really cares for each individual. I have to admit, he was not easy, but if you study his notes well, and show the effort, then you're going to be fine! I definately recommend him, but be prepared to study if you plan on doing well. :)
He writes all the notes on the board, just be prepared to dedicate a large amount of time to studying. Also always very willing to help students outside of class
He is a good teacher. He will help you if you need help. Very helpful teacher. Give you printed notes for some chapters. He write notes on the board for the rest of the chapters.
He is a great teacher. I wish most teachers would teach like him. He knows his material really well. Study for his test, but it is only over the notes. He is very helpful and good looking. Great class and teacher. I would recommend him!
Awesome teacher. I had him for Biology and I attended the Oceanography trip to Corpus Christi. He is so much fun to learn from. He is not easy by any means, but if you study you will do very well. His notes are exactly like his tests.
GREAT teacher. writes his notes on the board and does handouts for some chapters. definitely wants to see his students succeed. Will help you if you need help, but make sure you study before you ask for one on one help. definitely knows the material inside and out.
Awesome class! Includes a lot of really interesting information in his lectures and will spend much of his time to help students understand the material. Definitely one of the best instructors at Eastfield.
WONDERFUL professor. Mr. Hughes really cares about his students and their success. His class is not super easy but if you put in the effort you will make it just fine. He is always willing to help outside of class as well. Highly recommended!!!
He is the kindest man you have ever met. He does not think about himself and puts others first. He is willing to help you with anything, anytime you need it. I went into this class not caring at all about this class, and he actually taught me alot!
Best professor for General Biology!very helpful and if you want a professor who knows his stuff, believe me he knows it. no reference card needed, it's all on his mind. just make sure you give the effort to study and you get an A.
those wranglers are pretty close to amazing...
Mr. Hughes is a genuinely good professor who is clearly passionate about his subject. He's extraordinarily helpful and nonjudgmental about any questions one asks or about one's skill level. It is a rare, rare treat to find a professor as good as Mr. Hughes!
Mr. Biology USA.. or might as well be. GENIUS & SUPER nice. Always ready to help his students. I attended the Adopt-A-Beach Cleanup in Port Aransas & the Big Thicket National Reserve trip in east TX, which were both for extra credit but I'd have gone regardless, b/c I had such a great time. Looking forward to 1408 w/ Hughes.
One of the best professor in Eastfield and the best in the Science Department. Always willing to help students to achieve their maximum potential. Does not think that any question asked by student is stupid. Simply the best!
Loved his class.....his tests were hard 4 me....no matter how much I studied, it was HARD to make an 'A' in his lecture tests....but he is a very helpful and knowledgeable teacher...don't take him if u want an easy 'A'....take him if u want 2 learn & succeed at universities!!! :D
Great teacher! His class wasn't easy, but I learnt a lot. He also gives lots of xtra credit throughout a semester. I got an A and anyone who wants to learn in his class will make an A also. Try to take him!
I took him for Biology 1 & 2. (got A's in both)He is by far one of the best professors I've had. He is extremely knowledgeable and is always willing to help if need be. I would recommend this class to anyone who wants to build a strong foundation for careers in science/medical fields.
he's helpful & intelligent. his xtra credit involves weekend trips which r fun & awesome. yes u have to pay a fee, but it's cheap. i got to go spend a weekend at the beach for $50. he gives you everything you need to know in his lectures. He doesn't use the book, he just teaches out of his memory. this is a great class for anyone who wants to learn
Amazing memory of all the stuff he needs to teach. Will help you as much as you need, just ask.
He's a great professor. Very, very helpful. Extremely knowlegable and great to look at when he's writing all that stuff on the board! :)
HOT.....HOT.....HOT!!!! THOSE WRANGLER JEANS ARE AMAZING!!! HE IS SO FINE!!!
Awesome teacher... knows his stuff. His tests are hard but gives you plenty of extra credit opportunities. He's more than happy to help with what you don't understand!!! Don't need the book tests are off notes. He doesn't take attendance but you need to be there for the notes.
He's one of the best teachers I've had. He knows his stuff like none other & is very organized. He gives alot of extra credit opportunities which helps. Tests come straight off the notes so they're easy to study for. I highly recommend him!
This is the most unenthusiastic teacher I have ever had its like having a cyborg for a teacher he reminds me of the guy off the clear eyes commercial he talks just like that. He walks into class and just starts talking no hello hows everybody doing just starts writing on the board. He writes really fast and then erases everything.
he is my top 5 all time teacher i ever had. a walking textbook he come to class arm with a marker and lecture everything from his memory never missing a single detail. book? forget it, don't waste your money just come to class, really helpful his field are loads of fun and it come with tons of extra credit. anyone need an intro class? take him.
I thought his class was redicliously hard. You HAVE to study to even think about massing and dedicate your life if you want an A..... Good teacher but hard class
Hughes is a really good teacher. Knows his stuff. He is very smart and knows what hes saying. He will answer ANY questions you have during lecture. Also, his office door is always open if you need him. He lets you call him and email him for ANYTHING! I personally like him. You have to STUDY STUDY STUDY!!!Im taking im again for 1407
Absolutely ridiculous. This man is NOT a good teacher. Don't let the other comments fool you. His class was so hard, his notes went on forever & we didn't even touch the text book. Very complicate material, with nothing ever being clarified. One of the worst teachers I have ever been exposed to in my life!!!!
Prof. Hughes was wonderful. Very passionate about his filed and always very willing to help. I learned a lot and worked hard. Attendance is important, and you do have to study hard to make an A, but he is very helpful and inspiring.
Not good if you dont like been explained very well.
Awsome teacher explains everything in great detail. You must be ready to take notes and pay attention in class. If you don't uunderstand something he is more than willing to help if you are willing to put in the effort.
Professor Hughes KNOWS his material. He has everything memorized and writes it down on the board during class. Students are expected to copy the information from the board into notes and then memorize what is a tremendous amount of material for tests. He does make himself available to students. Some love him, but his style just isn't my cup of tea.
Absolutey LOVE HIM! the people that left bad comments are lazy and have it coming if they are science majors and complaining about his class!! There is a lot of matieral- some difficult but he is ALWAYS there to help- extremely understanding and wants you to do well!!! I wish he could teach every class! I took him for 1406 and 1407 annnd He is by f
Professor Hughes is a great teacher. He cares very much about his students. If you need help understanding any of the material he is willing to tutor at any time! He expects his students to learn not to memorize. After taking his class, you will understand Biology! Also, he is not so bad to look at!
Great teacher!!! He is so smart and funny. His test are straight from the lecture notes. You do have to write everything down but if you study that material you will make an A. VERY very fair grader. He is one of my top 5 favorite teachers of all time!!!
He is a fair teacher who presents challenges. He is one of my favorite teachers
Yep the girls love him! But the man is a GENIUS. Notes come from his memory. He gives alot of detailed info, but also gives study guides. Tests are on notes only. He is hard, but if you are taking him then you should be a science major. If you study, you get an A. He will go out of his way to help you. You just have to ask. Lots of extra credit too
I had him for 1406 and he was AWESOME. Never had a biology class as clear as his. He's always willing to answer questions and help students. He can't stand slackers or lazies, but he'll help you if you're willing to learn.
I have never worked so hard at any class or for such mediocre grades in my life! Pulled off an A but BARELY. You MUST study, you don't have a choice. Don't buy the book and take AWESOME notes. He's fairly intimidating b/c he knows everything. He may not seem very approachable but he's pretty cool once you get to know him.
Prof Hughes is the best Bio teacher ever! He knows the material very well and he is very helpful. You do have to take notes but it is worth it if you are a student who is willing to learn. All his test come from the notes. Lab test are easy as long as you study. I really loved his class. You will learn and understand the subject if you take his class.
I love him. End of story. He really prepares you for higher level classes!! :) His class is really hard, a lot of studying involved but he is the best EVERRRR!!!
Professor Hughes is the best Biology professor ever! He really knows his stuff, and makes it easy for you to understand. I took him for 1406 last year and am taking his class for 1407 this coming semester. Definitely recommend him to EVERYONE!
Prof Hughes writes everything on the board then talks about it. I had trouble in his class only due to the excessive memorization. He does really care about his students. He gives extra cred for trip to Port Aransas. It's a difficult class, but he's a nice guy. Visit him during his office hours for help.
Professor Hughes was an incredible teacher! If you make an attempt at getting familiar with the material, he'll pass you. And the paper he has his students write is a completion grade, but I'm sure he actually reads the papers, so don't just write a bunch of crap! His tests are hard, but fair. To get an A, memorize everything!
He is very knowledgable of biology and does make his lectures interesting. He doesn't refer to the textbook and at the beginning of the course told our class he did not require it or the lab manual...however I had the book left over from first semester and it did prove helpful. His tests are very difficult and require you to put in a lot of time. He does seems to bump up the grades at the end of the semester. I received a B, which was somewhat impossible with the grades I earned.
Very HARD teacher! Is willing to help students more than any other teacher I have ever in my life met. Key to the class is to form a good study group and meet with him to ask questions. You have to study for his class and you have to learn not just memorize.
I truly enjoyed this class because of Mr Hughes BEST PROFESSOR EVER.I had taken this class once before and made a D.
Great Teacher just dont get scared, and stick to it. He gives a curve, but only if u try. I'm the type that looks for an easy A, He is a hard C lol! JUst do as others suggested stay involved ask questions and get a study group. By the way he is funny, They call him the machine but our class broke him
Professor Hughes is so hot and extremely smart. Don't let that intimidate you. He's very approachable and if he could, he'd probably reteach an entire lecture for you. He doesn't use the book and gives you a lot to memorize but study and you'll get a good grade. He's a good teacher, i'd recommend him
No matter how science-savvy a person may or may not be, if they are willing to learn, and are willing to put in the time and the effort needed to succeed, Professor Hughes is the best instructor to teach them the fundamentals that they will need in order to have a solid foundation on which to build upon.
I loved Professor Hughes! His class is very challenging, and you will have to work hard for your A . He writes notes on the board, and then explains everything throughly to you. He seems like a serious guy, but he is actually very nice and has a great sense of humor. I would recommend his class!
Hughes is the epitome of organized! His preparation for lecture/lab and knowledge of subject are outstanding. Gives good notes and is always available for help in his office. Cons: He does not post grades online, you will have to see him personally to get your grades.
Professor Hughes is an awesome instructor. The class in itself is tough... and you'll have to try and put in some study time. He knows what he is talking about... and he is OVERLY WILLING to help you out when you don't understand something... and he is pretty hot!
The material he teaches is challenging but if you pay attention, you will make an A.
professional, hard but very knowledgeable and gives you every note and all the work you will need to succeed
Smart man, If you study his notes you will do fine on test. Offers trips for extra credit.(Take advantage of them)
Whether you actually care for Biology or not, you will have a tough time in his class. He's clear on the material but there is a lot of material. Study and study is all the advice I needed from the start.
If you take his class be prepared to study, study, study. I mean if you take a science class you should expect to study but with his class I feel like he has you study extra material that isn't even in the book! His lecture tests are based on what was said in lecture though so if your notes you'll be fine!
The best biology professor ever. He knows what he's talking about, I can sit in class all day long and see him talk, he has an amazing grip on the subject and will never send you away with any doubts about the material. I definitely recommend him for anyone who is serious about Biology! Love the man!
His teaching method is excellent ,precise. Has a good knowledge about the subject and is willing to help out. Exams are multiple choice and the final is not comprehensive. If you study and listen to his lectures thoroughly, you will make an A in his class. I will b taking him for BIO 1407 also. Made an A in Bio 1406 class
Jeff Hughes is a great instructor. LOTS of writing and note taking. One research paper is required. Lots of chemistry is taught in the beginning, and I got really lost. He makes sure to ask the class if they are clear about material before moving on. 1/2 of the class dropped to avoid failing. STUDY STUDY STUDY! NOT an easy class.
I took him for Maymester, I was extremely worried because biology isn't my best subject. We took a trip for our place. We were given a packet of homework to completely, we also took a few quizzes while on the trip. He made this class very easy. I was able to get an A! I would recommended taking Professor Hughes.
Great teacher! A lot of notes and studying but you can get an A if you try. YOU DO NOT NEED THE BOOK. You can always get the book but he actually says at the beginning of class that you do not need it.
I took this course summer I 2013. This is the hardest course and teacher I've ever taken. I'm usually an "A" student but I failed exams miserably W/SEVERE STUDYING! Hughes is nice but teaches very fast. He gives many notes, only 30% are test. Notes are important & must be learned bc test q's are not directly from notes, they are higher thinking q's
I've never work so hard for a C . This class is hard, not to mention I took it during the summer. He's a great professor . Even though my grades weren't all that perfect he made the class very interesting. And he's so cute ... Must take his class
I took him this summer. It was a fast paced course so it was A LOT of notes. He did help anyone who didn't understand anything. Study is the key. I ended up with a B which is not bad considering my lecture grades. Pretty good looking professor.
Professor Hughes is great. He is extremely knowledgeable and great at making difficult concepts clearer if you just ask. His class is difficult and requires self discipline and a lot of studying. But do not be shy or nervous about asking for help or extra instruction. He is more than willing to answer any questions, even outside of class.
Do not be afraid or intimidated by him or his class. However, if you want an A it requires you to be extremely self disciplined, and study the material until you KNOW it. Also, you must ask questions. I have never had a professor so willing to help his students if they would just ASK. Even outside of class he will teach until you understand it.
This class requires you to study. Duh! He is very helpful and extremely knowledgeable. He's willing to help until your understand and gives extra credits if you attend trips. And he's HOT! ;)
The professor is great and VERY helpful. He even came to our study groups to help us. He gives a lot of information. And the test require a lot of higher thinking, not just facts. You need to STUDY A LOT for this class. You must be very dedicated but you learn so much.
Great teacher! The man knows everything, and is so willing to share his knowledge. He is very fair and makes himself accessible to his students. And yes, he is adorable :)
This prof. is GREAT! he is so knowledgeable and knows everything by heart(: However he is very hard! You must dedicate day and night to his material study study study! &during lecture you will have to write ALOT of notes! you dont need the book. You will learn alot and he is very willing to help!
He is a great professor. His lectures were so confusing to me, a newbie, that he allowed me to record his lectures. As the semester went on he allowed me to come to his office each day and as long as I studied prior, he would review me to see how much I learned. He is a great professor and is welling to help anyone who would just ask. He's amazing!
He is a very, very great professor cares about the student he make sure you know the materials all you have to do is ask for help he is willing to go above and beyond to help you if you really put the time into working hard there is no reason you should not get an A+ for this class i would recommend him to anyone who wants to learn an receive an A
He really seems nice, helpful, and straight-forward. Please don't be fooled. I spent hours and hours in his office preparing for exams and feeling super confident going into exams because he told me I was getting it. I just couldn't get above the 40's on my exams despite my extreme dedication and hard work. Good luck.
I wouldn't recommend this guy. Yeah he knows his stuff, but the guy is so quiet. He doesn't engage with the students & when you ask a question, then there's always an awkward silence followed. He doesn't engage with the students at all. He makes the environment just plain awkward and boring. But like everyone said "He knows his stuff"...yeah yeah!
He gives so many note, yes he knows a lot of what he's talking about but he try's to cram so much in such a short time not giving the students time to process what he is saying and if you don't answer his questions in class he gets upset. I didn't understand a lot of what he was saying and my grades reflected that. I studied but I was just confused
He is a good teacher and knows his stuff. But he gives too much information in one day and expects you to know it all by the next time you come to class.
He is tough, but its totally worth it! You almost don't need the book for this class because everything that's on his tests you get from his notes. Do be prepared to write a lot of notes! His tests are kind of hard, but if you pay attention and study your notes you'll be fine! He's a good professor and actually cares about you getting the material.
His lectures are very important to listen to! His tests are directly from his notes nut extremely hard. Really study! Good guy. If you have any questions, he is willing to help.
I took professor Hughes this semester for Biology 1406 and i regretted it he is a very hard professor he can be mean at times and he compares his classes to one another he just writes on the board doesn't really explain anything he is not a very good teacher but he does love biology and is smart so unless your really good at biology don't take him.
HORRIBLE TEAHCER. Jeff Hughes clearly doesn't care for his students. Its almost as if he enjoys seeing the students struggle. He gives so much material each class its very hard to learn it all and he expects you to know it by heart the next class. He is extremely boring and hard to follow. DO NOT TAKE YOU WILL REGRET! Class made me depressed!!!!!
Professor Hughes gets straight to the point with all lectures, never has compared us to any of his other classes. No book needed, pay attention take notes and you pass. test straight from notes. Gives some useful notes online. Willing to answer any questions.I've taken him this year for 2 summer classes, 1 fall, & will be taking Wintemester
Its biology so of course its going to be hard, but I took his class and loved it accidentally did the science major one and still got a B! His lectures are the MOST important the notes have all the information you need, the lab we did not even have to attend unless you needed help.
I enjoyed taking Bio 1406 with Professor Hughes because he was always available and willing to help if you asked. He really seemed to know what he was talking about because every lecture he would come and write down all the notes on the white board, we would copy, he would explain them, every time! As long as you study the notes, you can pass.
Get to know Professor Hughes. Don't be put off by his serious demeanor. There's more to him. He will go out his way to help you with the material. Brilliant and handsome with a photographic memory. Biology is his life! Extremely difficult tests but he gives you all you need. If you don't pass the class believe me it's on you as the student.
Professor Hughes is great but there is much to cover if you miss a day then you are in trouble. You don't need the book but it sure does feel like you are writing it with the notes you will be taking. Smart and intelligent professor but he is a little difficult
Prof. Hughes is amazing! He writes all the notes on the board and gives time to write it all down. He doesn't handout any homework but it's your responsibility to study his notes for the exams!!! Even though he looks serious don't hesitate to ask him questions, he is more than willing to help! He also offers extra credit field trips (signup soon! )
Hughes class was a blast. Never knew taking a course off campus would help me learn as much as I did. I've taken his BIO1406 and he is more laid back in the field than he is in lecture. I learned about birds, plants, and coastal marine life all in one trip. He does expect full participation and if you ask him, he will tell you a lot of things.
Prof. Hughes is great. You won't need a textbook because he writes everything you need to know on the board and gives everyone enough time to write it down. If you have questions, don't hesitate to ask. He's more than willing to answer and help you understand any questions you may have (in/outside of class). All you have to do to do well is study!
INTIMIDATING! is first thing you notice however, he is not. very willing to provide extra tutoring provides all information you need to pass, wants you to succeed study as much as possible
So this class definitely requires you to do a lot of studying and preparation outside of class because if you don't study for those exams you definitely will not pass. He is very well knowledgeable about the subject and knows how to teach so going to class is very helpful.
I really enjoyed his lectures and labs. If you miss lab though, you will have a hard time on the tests. I missed several labs because they were at a really early time and I did not do so well on the tests. Also he is really accesssible outside of class. When I missed a test, he let me take the test during another class.
Awesome teacher! very tough class!
Great Professor, tough class but you learn what you need to!
seems serious but he's actually really nice and funny. don't take this class if you expect an easy A or don't plan to show up. gives ALOT of notes but they are useful especially when preparing for tests. Responds to emails quick and accessible outside of class just ask he's very willing to help you if there's any confusion.
prof. hughes is a great instructor. he doesn't make you buy the expensive text books. he is serious and respected, but very helpful. he writes down the notes on the board, and explain it. exams are straight from the notes. i recommend taking him.
I took Mr. Hughes for Spring 2017. I dropped it. It was a difficult class. Everything you write down is what he tests you on. It is lecture heavy. You write a lot. He himself is a great professor, however the lecture/labs are TOUGH!! You have to study for HOURS. We wrote ALOT . I mean if you record him, and study you will pass. otherwise not!
Wonderful proffessor. He is always accessible when needed and he will answer any questions you have. You must study to pass this class.
Professor Hughes knows his stuff. Everything you need to know is in his lectures - he even writes it all down for you, word-for-word. The book is not used. However, he is rude during class and will belittle you and act disappointed if you ask questions as if he is annoyed you didn't already know. Not a professor for the shy or sensitive.
He is known for his lectures. Very detailed in his notes. He knows all of the material without looking through the textbook or notes. When you have questions, he takes the time to explain to you until you understand. Very friendly professor! His lecture exams are multiple choice, while his lab practicals are fill in the blank. STUDY STUDY STUDY!
A lot of work. However, if you try hard he notices and does his best to grade accordingly. Try not to miss lecture of you'll miss like 6 pages of notes
Easy class if you pay attention. Everything that is being tested over is in the lecture notes. MAKE SURE YOU ARE PAYING ATTENTION. The test is exactly from the notes, however, there are a lot of notes so study in a way that you know you'll remember later.
I skipped classes every single week. I still got a A grade in his class, you just got to study his reviews and maybe read the notes online. His class is extremely interesting, except for the fact that the professor doesn't talk much other than lecturing.
Not an easy A necessarily but it's definitely achievable if you just follow his criteria, take notes and study. He is very knowledgeable and willing to help outside of class if needed. He even allows you to attend his other bio classes if you need that extra help. A little monotone but still gives good lectures. Graded on 10 tests and one paper.
This is a great guy. To all the people who think he's bad. Try my last semester professor. That was a nightmare compared to this. Yea it's a lot of information but it's a science class... That's kind of a given. Super laid back guy, with a great mind on his shoulders. It's on you if you don't pass. Just take the time to study. Not that hard.
Nice but he doesnt give a review so tests are extra hard mostly the whole class ended dropping it
Had to drop his class because I couldn't recover from the low test grades. Do NOT take him if you are not a fast writer. Literally he walks in and like a typewriter fills the entire board with definitions and visuals and lectures about what he wrote. Knows how to break down the content, but he's very intense and fast paced.
:/ Only class I've ever had to drop. If you're a good studier, you should be okay. Theres a LOT of material to go over. ppl are saying you have to attend the class? but all you really need is a buddy in class to give you the Lab/Lec notes and to tell you when the exams are. 4 Lec exams. 4 Lab exams. 1 3pg journal review. Jump hoops for extra credit
If you are not a good test taker do not take his class! All of your grade is based off 8 test and 1 paper. No homework. No quizes. Lecture test is multiple choice but the questions are so twisted you dont even know what its talking about. Dont take with other tough classes! The professor is very fair but you must give a 100% or dont bother!!
All around a nice guy and will work with you
He is the best professor i have seen so far. His study material is hard and trust me to only lecture notes will not be enough for good A. We need to go through the concepts and the best thing is if u give effort, he is always ready to help u.
He teaches in deep depth which is good but goes by fast. He gives no home work but also no reviews. Class isn't mandatory but i wouldn't suggest to skip a class. His labs test are all fill in the blank and he does take points off for miss spelling. His lecture exams are very different to what he covers in class(he words them different).
Overall after everything was said and done, he was a great teacher, I learned so much in a small amount of time (Summer I). He talks VERY fast, and expects you to grasp everything he says. His lecture exams are not as hard as the lab exams. BE READY TO STUDY ALL DAY/NIGHT if you want an A. Not hard material, just a lot to memorize.
Prof. Hughes class was intense but I learned so much in such a short semester. if you know how you learn and you put the work in, you will pass and better than that you will really know the material. His lectures are INCREDIBLE. He really knows the subject and it shows. He is organized and you get all your test grades the same day! 100% recommend.
He is such an awesome professor! You do have to put in a lot of effort, and study a bunch but if you study your notes and ask questions, you will pass. He answers anything you have problems with. I will take any class he teaches.
Hughes teaches tough and quick but as long as you pay attention and write ALL NOTES you should pass. A lot of people say his class is hard but I liked the way he teaches you either know it or you don't. I like challenges so his class was worth the back pain of writing 151pgs of handwritten notes for hours & studying headaches. Lol I recommend :)
Professor Hughes is Amazing! His class is difficult and if you want to pass his class be ready to work for it! His class is very fast-paced but he will stop and answer your questions. He actually knows what he is talking about! If you are looking for an easy class and don't really care DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!
Great Professor. Review lec. notes before class & take good class notes will give you easy A. Fast paced, but doable. Lots of memorization. Don't be afraid to ask for help, he is very knowledgeable and answers any questions you have. Pay attention to his notes and reviews for the exams. Fill in the blank questions, you either know it or you don't.
I took 1411 online and can say the work it super easy and doable. For the lab report he asks you to write about plants that he gives you and you can look up. For lecture assignments, he gives out lecture objective notes and questions that you can easily find on there. He responds quickly to emails and is very caring of the students that put in work
Class was online for covid so I can't comment on lectures or lab activities. Nice man. Provided notes, but textbook really helped. Two lecture exams, two lab exams, and a scientific journal review paper. Tests were not bad, and he's not overly critical on the paper.
He's really informative and enjoys speaking about Biology. He is straight to the point. If you don't understand something, TELL HIM, he will go over it until you do and will not make you feel bad for it. He wants you to do good, but he won't babysit you or force you to do work. Give him effort and he will give you his time.
Easy class if you participate. Very helpful professor!
He is straight to the point. Makes biology not scary and impossible. Totally excellent and prompt at giving feedbacks. Very considerate of all kinds of learners. Gives your room to really know the course without fear of failure. Overall, best science experience so far!
i thought this class would be hard but it was easy! lab exams are the ones you need to be studying the most for, but he's kind and explains everything until you understand. labs are optional but you're better off showing up anyway
His class was easy, study your notes and you're good.
I loved this professor so much, he is very caring and understanding. You can tell he genuinely wants his students to understand the material. We were only given 6 assignments in total, 3 lab exams, 1 written assignment, 2 lecture exams. He allowed us to use notes on all exams. He also responds to emails daily if there are any issues or questions.
I took professor Hughes for may semester. His syllabus was very clear and he was extremely fair for the amount of info we had to learn. He was very flexible with how he worked his exams and the paper was of our choice. I was skeptical at first, but totally recommend for a short online summer/may semester. I would definitely take him again!
I recently took professor Hughe's class for Spring 2023. He answers your questions in depth and makes sure you understand. If you don't ask you will never understand the lecture or labs unless your independent. He allows you to make up test corrections and labs are really interesting. Only about 4 exams total. Take his class it is an easy A!
His a great professor! I took him for the Spring 2023 semester for my 1407 credit and i was surprised when the many grading points were 4 assignments. I did have to write a paper but that's because I didn't take him for 1406. Besides that if you looking for a helpful teacher that doesn't make assignments more difficult then they have to be take him
Amazing professor! He made the class so easy to understand and doable in a few weeks. Everything was straightforward and not stressful. I would highly recommend taking him!
Professor Hughes is one of those professors that just loves his field. He is very knowledgeable in Biology and knows stuff off the back of his mind. No textbook is given since he gives his own study material. The assignments and tests are easy since he tells you exactly what to study, but being in a lecture with someone so knowledgeable was amazing
Professor Hughes is great! Highly recommend taking his class especially if you are going to be a science major. He is very caring of his student and takes time to make sure you understand before moving on to the next topic. Wish he taught all my science classes!
Professor Hughes is engaging and makes biology less intimidating. Attend class, review notes, and utilize Unstuckstudy - it's an easy A if you put in the effort.
Pro. Hughes let me just say take him!He treats you like an adult and teachers you exactly what you need to know for success. Got an A- in his class and enjoyed getting it. You have about 5 assignments in total that are all heavy in weight when it comes to grading. But again if you study and just do what you got to do you will do more than pass!!
Take his class !! There are only like 5 assignments per semester but will offer feedback beforehand if you ask. I wish he taught more classes so I can take him again. he always goes in depth in every class. I did not show up to class everytime since it was optional but if I was needing help , I would. He wants to see students pass and it shows.
