Mr Ihlenfeldt ROCKS! The only ppl who have a problem with his ITL are those who are not motivated enough or not intelligent enough to handle the assignments... everyone else thinks it's an enjoyable and well-presented class me included!!!

I don't think Jeff's classes are hard or easy, they are challenging. He is the most helpful teacher I know at HACC. He is inspiring, encouraging and respectful. He knows what he teaches. His sense of humor is dry, and it is true that younger students don't seem to get his jokes.

Mr. Ihlenfeldt is very knowledgable about writing skills and contemporary writing. He allows his students to analyze and help each other to become better writers. He is encouraging, yet he is not easy. His comments are very helpful and his questions promote critical thinking.

Jeff is challenging, but fair. I think he may grade a bit harder than others I've heard about, but I was not after a "free ride." His was my first class after being out of the classroom for over 20 years and I still managed a B. He is definitely there to help you if you ask. Highly recommend his classes.

Mr. Ihlenfeldt is an outstanding professor. He challenges critical thinking and allows you to search your soul for your writing. His classes have a lot of classroom discussion which help in challenging your writing. I would definitely take his classes. If you want to learn to write on a professional level, take his class.

Professor Ilenfedt's class is not hard if you keep up with your work. He gives pop essay quizes at the begining of class on either the assigned reading or current events from world news. It's also important to attend every class b/c things move at quick pace. He is a fair grader but the essays take a lot of time, thought, and research to complete.

Took his creative writing class. Since he had a lot of experience in the field, that helped significantly. I learned a lot from him, and anyone open to learning how to write well would benefit from his expertise and experience.

I took his English 102 class. He is a very picky when it comes to critiquing a paper, which annoyed me at first,but looking back, has definitely helped me become more distinct and clear in my writing style. Being a communications major, i agree 100% with his principle of: "grades don't matter as much as the student becoming a better writer."

He's not the easiest teacher I've ever had, but he he one of the most fun. Class discussions are encouraged, and his perspective on learning is refreshing! I would take him again.

Overall a very good professor. If your an English major he is a great professor, if your not you will probably find him to be a tad boring. If you are willing to put effort into the class it is not hard to get a good grade. Agree that his humor can sometimes go over the head of younger students.

If you like English, are a decent writer, and a good crtitcal thinker, you will appreciate his teaching style. He does not coddle students, nor does he hand out an easy A, but he does grade fairly. He is not teaching a highschool class. If you want an easy A take another professor. If you want to improve your writing skills give him a chance.

Brilliant, but tough. Would like to echo the comment that he is a good professor for English majors and people who really love to write. I am neither, but I love to learn and he taught me a lot. A B from him is easy, but if you want an A he wants to see you push yourself as a writer. I got an A, but I had to spend A LOT of time on the class.

Professor Ihlenfeldt is by far the most inspiring professor I have had yet. He pushed me to do my very best work, when mediocre work often earns me an A. He is extremely intelligent and passionate about creative writing. I still greatly value the input and guidance he gave me. Take his classes if you like a challenge.

His grading system is hard, and he made an example of me to his other class without even waiting a semester, but he does have redeeming qualities. He's VERY funny and mostly nice, and he really does push you to be a great writer! I did some of my best work in this class. I can see where he wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea though!

Can be tough. And also tough to get an A. But passing his class is easy if you do the work. Funny and helpful. I ended up with a B in his class, and I?m wasn?t great in English to start. I definitely recommend him.

Great professor. Had him for 051 and now 101 and he is sooo helpful. Plenty of writing and discussion and he can be tough but it's worth it. Funny too.

If you want to learn anything in college, take this professor. He will challenge you, but is also helpful and wants you to succeed. He does give A's if you do the work. Not a slackers class, but a enjoyable one. He has great humor and sarcasm. I also took eng 107 and 108 with him, and loved all three classes. One of the best professors I've had.

Professor Ilenfeldt is a great guy , a master of dry wit and sarcasm. if you give him a chance and ask him for help he will help , he helps by getting you to think for yourself and not by just giving you the answer. amazing and friendly if given a chance

Really good class. Jeff helped me become a better writer and I haven't written poetry since I was a kid. Not getting grades on assignments was hard to deal with at first but I knew what I needed help with all the time. Take.

He's tough. Just pay attention and analyze your papers very thoroughly. You'll become a better writer after taking his course.

Creative writing with Professor Ihlenfeldt was a great class I learned so much about my writing and how to improve on it.

Jeff is by far the best writing professor I've had. He is TOUGH. You will have to earn your A, but you will be so proud when you do. I look forward to taking more writing courses with him in the future and becoming the best writer I can be.

At first I thought I wouldn't like the class, but I did. It is a hard class and not many people can get an A but he teaches well. He does expect a lot from you but it's college what'd you expect?

This class is for those who wish to develop their writing skills, not for those who want to get an A just for showing up. He will notice whether or not you are putting effort into class participation and writing assignments. Skipping the reading assignments will definitely affect your grade. If you skip class, you will miss important details.

Taking a class with Professor Ihlenfeldt isn't a walk in the park. But then again, this is college. However, if you want to actually become a better writer, take his class. He's tough but fair and if you put in the work and effort he will reward it. I never got less than a 90 on any of my essays, but I worked for them. I recommend him.

Took this when I was still in high school. Hard going back and forth from high school to college but Prof. I made it a lot easier. Plenty of extra help if you want it. Will definately take for 102 if I get the chance!

This professor was tough for me. I am not a great writer, and he challenged me every day. At the beginning I was sure I was going to fail but he gives all the help you need if you want it. Work hard, do what he says, and you will pass. It was also nice that he gave out multiple extra credit opportunities.

This professor is interesting. When I first started my English class, I was nervous that this professor was going to be the tough, strict, and hard professor that he looks like at first. In fact, He is generally very easy and fun to have as a professor. As long as you listen and keep up to date with your work then this class will be a piece of cake

Prof Ilenfeldt is a dear soul and cares about his students. While this class wouldn't work for someone who doesn't enjoy writing, I loved it. I enjoyed coming to class. I enjoyed the time the class spent together on Zoom! I felt like he was creating a safe space that was very meaningful to me as a student. Focuses more on shaping you than grading!
