very clear, and who can forget the crappy but entertaining corny jokes he makes every class. good teacher. do your part he does his.

This class was actually enjoyable, the atmosphere that lee creates with his corny jokes and "we are in college now" attitude was actually a great experience.....some of his tests got a little difficult, but the lab helped make up for them.....all in all, its a good lab science if you dont want to take biology....
His class is HARD!! All of his notes are on the internet, but if you don't go to class it's much harder. His tests suck big time.
Really cool professor. Fun to see what he has to say next. Tests were tough at times and there's always a lot of material. Overall, good class and an A is very possible!
HE IS SO FUNNY! His jokes are corny at times, but they add comic relief to the class! His exams were kind of tough, but just do the work and study and you will pass! Attendance is not mandatory, but he gives out extra credit quizzes that definitely help!
Had him for phyiscal geography. Guy is way too smart. Doesn't understand that we're not experts like he is. Tests were almost IMPOSSIBLE.Really nice guy though- tries to makes it interesting. Gives extra credit if you show up. Since I did, and got a good grade in the lab I managed a B- somehow.
Not a bad class but he posts all the notes online AND mandatory isn't required so it is really hard to go to class. IIf you don't go you'll probably get a D on your tests... but the lab can push you to a C.
He's pretty good. He gives lecture notes and a review. However, going to class is still manadatory fr a good grade because all the noted given have so much information. Going to class helps to pick through the endless amounts of information. The labs are easy, but extremely boring unless you are an avid geographer.
good professor, you need to go to class though. he posts a review early, so fill out the review as you go through lectures. LOTS OF MATERIAL
he is an awesome professor. his posts his lectures online and he also posts test reviews. this is a lab science, but the lab is instructed by a TA. the lab is really easy and can bring up your grade. :) i would totally suggest this class. :)
Love Dr. Lee! He's aware that some people may not be super interested in physical geography so he tries to make it fun and is a notorious teller of corny jokes. The lab portion is REALLY easy. Pretty much if you do all the work you get full credit. Good natural science class :) His tests are a bit tricky so I recommend reading/going to class.
Favorite professor so far! Tries to make you enjoy class by making really corny jokes. He posts his notes on blackboard so it's easy to access. Takes random attendance quizzes (usually on days when no one shows up, i.e. days before breaks). If you struggle in the actual class the lab will bump you up a letter grade. Loved this class!
Great professor, he knows what he's talking about, very funny, loves to teach. WARNING, it is not the easiest class in the world. You CANNOT just study one night for the tests and expect to get a good grade (maybe a C at best). Taught me great study habits tho, and I pulled a high B. Lab is easy and bumps you up a full letter grade so it's helpful
He teaches a class in Junction for 2 weeks in may. I highly suggest taking it, easy A and you will have a Blast. Over all great teacher and person.
Very good teacher that knows the subject well. He makes jokes that sometimes aren't funny but he still is good at stimulating students learning. The notes are online so you don't have to go to class but make sure you go to every lab because that bumps your grade up a lot. Overall good teacher
no help on tests, very difficult
Very Interesting!
Professor Lee is not the best teacher. He thinks he is fun, however he is not! His notes are very confusing and he goes really fast. He has random attendance quizzes usually the day after a test or right before a break. His test are extremely hard. The lab for this class is super boring and pointless but will raise your grade a whole letter grade.
Dr. Lee is a hilarious professor. He makes geography not so boring. He's very sarcastic and hates when you leave class early, heWILL call you out for leaving or talking. He's pretty straight forward but his tests are IMPOSSIBLE to pass. The labs are a waste of time but overall, the class was easy. He doesn't take attendance but, I recommend you go
VERY hart tests. Class average is 67. He only uses power points and its very hard to study with what you are given.
You will learn a lot in this class if you pay attention, but its not an easy class. Lee tries to make it interesting and gives extremely long study guides for test. The tests are very hard, about a 66 class average. I would study A LOT and did good in lab and squeezed out a B.
GO to lab and make good grade in it. I got D average on exams but full grade in LAB which got me B in class. Quizes in class are usually before breaks and after test. its interesting class so i went to every class. But test material is supper long, easy way is fill up study guide in lecture and study that ONLY! you'll be just fine.
Awesome teacher, likes to make jokes. Class is easy if you attend each lecture and do the study guides. The guides are basically the test and while it's a lot of info to take in, it's just memorization. I enjoyed the class and Lee and I'm not a fan of science.
Teaches strictly off his powerpoints. Ton of information of his study guides, only about half of which is on the exam so you have to know a lot. Gives random attendance quizzes throughout the year. As long as you do well in lab and just average in lecture you should pull a B.
I don't feel like he really cares about his students or if they pass. And considering that the class average for his tests are always below 70 (and from what I've read on here they have been that way for a while) it just doesn't seem like he cares if you pass. The study guides are amorphous and the lectures in class are fast-paced. Good luck.
Class is boring and covers a seemingly unnecessary amount of material. Do the study guides he posts online and remember all that you can. Only about 50% of that material is on the test. All of the map questions are on the test (minimum of 10 questions) so remember those for an easy 20 points.
He covers a lot of info, and much of it's just side stuff he finds interesting, but isn't on the test. This makes studying for the tests difficult. But going to every lab and doing well there helps you do well in the class. He is a very likable professor and cracks corny jokes during lecture. I'd recommend the class, but it is a challenge!
I really loved this class, and prof Lee! He is very passionate about his work which makes for interesting lectures. Make sure you attend EVERY lab, because you get a lot of points for workbooks and quizzes. He provides notes online for you to review and also gives random attendance quizzes throughout he year which is great if you need a boost!
Pretty chill guy. He definitely knows what he's talking about. Show up to class and start studying for tests a week in advance (Study Guides are only helpful if you utilize them consistently). You can really learn a lot in this course if you pay attention and study. Tests are multiple choice but don't let that fool you.
Definitely do NOT recommend. Study guides are long and nothing like the tests. Tests are EXTREMELY hard. He teaches strictly off of a powerpoint.
Never needed to rate until now. Had to take this class twice because i missed a few lab quizzes and his secrete attendance quizzes. In class, this guy really made a subject I was actually interested in, very scientific and boring. He primary reads his own power point when he is not telling dull jokes and begging for the class to be energetic.
Difficult class study guide doesn't help much
Nice guy, however this class is a difficult course. Study guides are not very helpful and there are only 4 tests and 2 other grades. If you do take this course do good in the lab, it helps your final grade a lot!
He only gave us a few tests. They were not too hard, but you MUST study or you'll fail. The lab is not too hard either, as long as you try. Just show up and study and you'll do fine .
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! Tests are extremely difficult, he has long study guides for each test that don't look anything like them. I would study for an entire week and end up barely getting a 60. Only sign up for this class if you're prepared to work.
The tests are nothing like the 14 page study guides. The lecture is over easy basics and the tests are unrelated to just about everything.
The tests were pretty basic and he covered all the necessary information. Use the study guides and write your notes on them. The online "book" is not really necessary unless you want further clarification about something. The class was not too difficult, but it did require you to attend lectures and study for tests. Jeff is a no BS professor.
Pay attention in class and read the text, easy A. Class was never dull for me, always interesting and learning something new. Make sure to attend lectures to get his free extra credit quizzes.
plz do not take him. his tests are extremely difficult and he always puts like math problems and weird stuff we didn't talk about in class on his tests. The class average was a C all year. RUN. SAVE YOURSELF.
There is plenty of material to cover which is divided into four sections, that are then spread out over the semester. He also gives all of his written lectures online, as well as gives study guides for the tests. I am by no means good at science, I made a 72 on the first test, studied, and just made a 92. Just show up to class, and apply yourself.
If you are looking for an easy science class because its physical geography and it sounds super easy, well it's not. Not only are lectures confusing, though he puts the lectures online, the discussion class is equally hard and a lot of work. This class isn't the hardest thing ever, but is pretty hard. Would not recommend taking.
The test are brutal. It is ultra-specfic and you have to study hard for the test.
If you show up to class and pay attention you'll make a good grade. He provides online materials so technically you don't have to show up but there is more information presented in class on the power points. A lot of terms so the tests can get kind of tough at times. Lectures were long though so get ready for that
Jeff Lee is the funniest professor I have ever had. He really loves the subject and makes the class fun with random jokes while explaining it well. If you pay attention and really study, you can do well on the tests. The lab was also super easy!
Do not take this class early in the morning, they lectures will put you to sleep. Exams are difficult, the lab is where you can get a lot of points to make up for your lecture grades
If you think that this class sounds easy, IT ISNT. The lab helps your grade. Tests are really difficult and are rely heavily on lecture. You MUST study in advance not night before tests. Good luck!
He's a very passionate professor who really cares about his students. He rarely asks for class participation and goes at a relatively easy pace to follow. Although there is on online text book, he almost never has people read from it and doesn't have quizzes over it, though it is definitely recommended that you do read it for a good grade.
He puts skeleton notes up on blackboard, but they barely cover everything. Lecture is a must if you want anything higher than a C. Exams are tricky, you have to fully know the material if you want good grades. the Lab is super easy, just go and do every quiz.
Dr. Lee is a great teacher and person. But I wish I'd been warned: this is a SCIENCE geography class. Like, none of this was history- or social studies-focused, it was all science, so if that's not your forte, be prepared or find another class. The tests were really hard, but other assignments were minimal and not difficult. Attendance was EC.
This class is NOT a blowoff class. He knows 95% of the students in the class are only taking so they can fulfill the state requirement. Professor Lee is an awesome guy but shouldn't be teaching freshman who don't care. Tests are super hard, attendance is extra credit, and the lab is easy. Made an A because of class curve
This class was very easy. If you show up, listen to the lecture and pay attention in lab you'll be fine. It was like intro to psych. You have to understand the concepts, not just know them. Also Dr. Lee will give out occasional extra credit quizzes, so take advantage of those! Do you work, study for your tests, and you'll be fine.
A great guy if you are into science jokes and attending class. The tests are hard if you don't study or attend class, but he points out some of the answers to many of the quizzes as he lectures and tells you if a question will be on the test. The only textbook he asked for was $15 or so and it was his (the other was online for free or purchasable).
Dr. Lee seems like a nice guy but I wouldnt recommend his class to anyone. No matter how well you pay attention in lecture or how much you study for the exam, there will always be 5-10 questions you will have to guess on - most people fail miserably. You will learn a lot about the earth, but this class is hard and takes a lot of in-depth studying.
Dr. Lee is very accessible outside of class, but his tests are damn near impossible and I attended every class. Luckily he gives extra credit quite often, but if you're not prepared to show up and study for tests don't take his class.
He is a hit or miss. Some days super funny other days outright rude. Lecture is so boring and very science heavy, not what you did in high school. REALLY had to study for test because of so much material. He also had five pop quizzes and dropped one. Lab is incredibly easy and takes 30min max each class.
The lectures are long and will drown you in science. If you didn't go to class, he posts these obscure lecture notes that really don't help, unless you took notes in class. The tests are difficult, with a large mapping section, and questions from his book. 5 pop quizzes, but he drops one, and two papers. Make sure you ace your lab.
ppt lectures posted online, but not everything is in them. attendance isnt mandatory but he gives a few extra credit quizzes. great lecturer, but its a long class. very helpful in office hours. fair amount of studying but its just memorizing terms. lab grade is worth a lot and can help if you had a not so good test grade in the lecture portion.
He was a really nice guy! The labs are a participation grade. Outside of labs and tests, there are two easy essays. He is generous with his grades. The study guides have about a 200 items, but the tests only have 50 questions. Nonetheless, I passed every test after showing up to every lecture. He also curved everyone's grades, which was nice.
Loved Dr Lee's class. Attendance is not mandatory but skipping one lecture means missing out on a lot of information so I don't recommend it. Gives up to 5 extra credit quizzes which are always super easy. Definitely need to study a little bit for exams if you want a good grade but over all, great and funny guy.
The lectures can get a bit boring for someone who is not a fan of science and you will need to take good notes in order to pass the tests. But overall he is a good lecturer. I liked how the professor was very straightforward. You MUST study to pass the tests. Attendance isn't taken but it's in your best interest to go to class.
Hard class I would not recommend this man to anyone. The lectures have nothing close to the exam. You really have to study everything on your own , he tries to put a study guide but it really doesnt help unless youre studying non stop after every lecture.
Definitely would not take this guy's class again. Lecture not only didn't help me, it confused me more about the subject material; I didn't start making decent test scores until I just started skipping class and studying at home. Great guy and funny way of lecturing, but was a horrible experience for me.
This is probably the worst class I have ever taken and I havent even finished it yet. I took it online and it is extremely unorganized. too big of a workload for this class. Always overwhelmed. Nobody in the class ever knew what was going on and over half the time no one could ever figure it out. I wouldnt wish this class on my worst enemy.
Awesome professor
I took this class because I liked Geography in high school and figured I woul take it here to get a science credit while learning something I enjoyed. This class was anything but enjoyable, the labs are hard to follow, the lectures are all science-related so if you do not enjoy that aspect of geography, do not take this course. tests are hard too
TOO MUCH WORK. I took it online since my schedule rarely gives me the right times for a lecture and a lab and it made me wish I had just taken a different class. The LONG lectures are all posted online with a "review" that we have to submit for credit. The labs are hard to follow. Truthfully I don't think anyone should take this class. Not worth it
I am a very hardworking student and I ignored the warnings on here to not take this professor, but I didn't listen. Hear it from me, PLEASE don't take him. Take something else. The course load is WORSE than an in-person class and there is little to no help. Lectures took HOURS to watch and take notes over. The tests are difficult. GROUP LABS.
It is clear that Prof. Lee cares deeply and knows much about what he is teaching. So much that he intends on cramming his whole degree in every test. I would say I am a good student and this class was very difficult. You basically need to remember everything he says in his lectures which last hours per week. Do not take this class.
I don't really understand all of the reviewers here saying his courses are hard and work-load heavy. If you do your work over a few days for 30min its not problem. But if you try to cram it all in the day it's due then yeah it's a lot of work. It seems many of the people reviewing him are also taking his 1401geo course, but display poor discipline.
This class was tough. Took it online while working full time and studying for the LSAT. All of the lectures are online and you follow along with a review sheet, but you cant find all of the answers in the lectures. Labs are extremely time consuming. Avoid if you can.
This class is the worst class i have ever taken. The lectures are broken down online into an average of 20 minute videos per sub section. You heard that right. Chapter 19 alone was 92.17 minutes long of lectures. This was for only FOUR SECTIONS!!!!! The labs were confusing with minimal help ahead of time. STAY AWAY FROM THIS CLASS
3 assignments due twice a week. Quiz, Review (1 or 2), and a lab every Wednesday and Sunday. The TA's grade more than the professor does, and the one I have was way less than helpful. I never got full credit on any lab and I would never get an explanation why. Overall, don't recommend this class to anyone.
The class itself is not too bad. The exams are very tough and the material in the lectures does not cover it all. The labs and lab notebook are questionable at best.
This class gives out so many assignments every week. The Lab instructions are NEVER clear. The lectures are informative but he gives out a lot of information for you to go over and most of it will never be on the test. Your HW is your "study guide" for the test. This elective class will make you work harder than your core classes.
Only had him online, class wasn't really anything special.
I can say with 100% confidence that this is the worst class I have ever taken in my life. Tests are ridiculous & full of irrelevant information that does not even relate to geography & half of the questions do not even appear in his lectures. The labs have poor instructions and consume at least 6-8 hours a week. More work than all 3 core classes.
I really like prof Lee. His lectures are bearable and I don't dread the lectures. What kills me is the amount of work he assigns. Two labs a week, Around 3 hours of lectures online with required notes to be turned in. Two quizzes. and last but not least the test that have NOTHING to do with the review. Avoid if you don't like work heavy courses.
All online, asynchronous class. Work at your own pace. Lots of lectures to go through. Tests can be somewhat difficult.
This is probably the worst class you could possibly take. I advise ya'll to stay away from this dude. He doesn't give a damn about his students, his primary concern his making you buy his textbook so he can profit off of you. He doesn't teach, you just have to follow the lectures on your own. Once again I'd advise aganist taking this class.
Tests are worth a lot of your grade but there are 3-9 lecture videos you have to watch and take notes on each week as well as a lab or two, so it's pretty time-consuming. Overall, the class material isn't hard at all, just has a lot of small assignments so it's easy to get overwhelmed but if that doesn't bother you then you'll be perfectly fine.
The guys class is terrible. unless you want to spend 3-4 hours daily on busy work for a class and listen to a pretentious professor, I don't recommend the class for anyone. save yourself and dodge this class
This is the worst class I ever taken a texas tech the homework is ridiculous every 3 days there is many assignments I spend hoursand hoursjust for this class, I hate it and the lab manual is not clear instruction wise, please avoid it
He is a great professor that makes the content enjoyable through jokes and an overall good time. The class is lecture-heavy, but there are online videos of the lectures. If you do your work last minute, it will become overwhelming. The tests make up a majority of your grade, but are not bad with decent studying.
There is quite a workload with this course, so please consider how busy your schedule is before you register. Course material is not too difficult, but you need to study to pass the exams. Some labs can also be difficult, so give yourself time ahead of the due date to complete them. This course will take up your time, but it's not extremely hard.
This class is terrible. Workload is heavy, long lectures full of irrelevant information, study guide is useless. If he says not to memorize something in the lecture, it'll be on the exam. Lab instructions are un-clear. Not much geography taught period. You have to buy all the textbooks, which he wrote. Save your GPA and avoid this class!!!!!
The class was pretty easy if you just show up. The tests were fairly difficult but if you know how to study you should be fine. There are plenty of other grades so even if you don't do too hot on the test you can get a good grade. Dr. Lee is slower paced and easy to understand. Overall, a fun course and not too hard.
Four tests, lots of short quizzes, around 12 labs, and two pretty easy papers. You have to watch the lectures and turn in your notes for your participation. If you don't watch the lectures you will not pass. The lectures usually range from 10 to 45 minutes long with the exception of a couple that were about an hour. Funny guy and not too boring.
Revisit the 5th grade with scientific method and irrelevant information (UFOs? Communism?). Something not mentioned, Capitalism, as you'll have to buy the books he wrote. What this class has to do with Geography is beyond me. It's all busy work and the exams have little to do with the reviews. If you feel like killing your GPA, take this class.
His lectures are fun, useful, and interesting, even though showing up to class is optional. Yes, there tends to be a lot of homework, but nothing is too hard. The only hard thing about the class are the exams, there are 4 and all are in-person. Just study the notes you have to turn in every week and you should be fine.
Don't take this class if you don't have to. Worst class/prof I have ever had and I am in my 4th week of class. He is so unclear in all of his labs, notes are required and the videos are extremely long and overdone. Makes you buy four books and 3 of them are his that he wrote. He makes absolutely no sense. Would rate class a 0 if i could but i cant.
Seriously do not take this class unless you want your GPA to suffer. Worst mistake was taking this class, i spend about 6-7 hours a week doing homework and watching lengthy videos and labs, just to fail the exams. Just for an ELECTIVE course. Im a business major. Do not do it.
you have 1-2 chapters of written notes, a lab, and a quiz due every Sunday and Wednesday. and he doesn't accept late work. all the books for the class are written by him and don't make sense and he doesn't explain very well.
Jeff Lee is going to be my villain origin story. The way he runs his class is awful, and there is so much homework. The tests count for about 4/7 of your grade. But no matter how hard you study, this man just makes his tests nothing like what he taught you in the lectures. Oh and theyre proctored. If they werent, this class would be an easy A/B.
it is a lot of work, multiple things due wed and sundays and it takes hours to complete but as long as you turn it in he grades it easy. exams are hardish but overall decent class
This class required the most time out of all my other courses, which were 3000 and 4000 level classes. There is no feedback for any graded homework, and the labs take up too much time. There is way too much material per exam, which makes it hard to understand the material thoroughly. I don't mind busy classes, but this is a 1000-level course...
Yikes. Tests worth 400/698 total points. Very long lectures worth 2 points each off of at least an hour per. Labs very unclear and TA's often difficult to reach. Interesting class but poorly laid out online. Friend of mine emailed for help and he responded "try harder".
Professor himself is okay, I guess. Not great. If you don't want your mental health to be in the depths of hell, then don't the this class. I spent at least a few hours everyday on this course. So ridiculous.
Mr. Lee is a solid professor, if you need a science credit you should take this class, he really tries to make his lectures enjoyable. However there is at least some homework every week but it is really easy and it is not that hard to get a passing grade in this class
Watch lectures at 1.4x-2x speed; he speaks slowly. Classwork took 1-3 hours one day a WEEK in the summer session. Blackboard shows you exactly what is due and when. He responds to emails and is willing to accommodate extenuating circumstances. It is a class about weather and rocks. If you struggled, you would have done so with ANY professor.
He is a good person and professor but this man has no regard for your life outside college. He has so much homework. Be prepared to do homework for 6+ hours
Use outdated lectures from 2019. Be prepared to spend at least 3-4 hrs/wk doing homework. There are way too many tedious, small-point assignments. It would be so much simpler if he'd re-record his lectures and embed questions in them. Instructions for the labs are not clear and usually don't match the lecture's content.
This class is awful. I haven't had anything graded in nearly two months. The exams are significantly harder than the material taught.
Lee is a good man and a good professor all in all. You do have a lot of work to do each week, but I personally found it manageable. For the exam you really need to rewatch the lectures, and he speaks slow enough that 1.5x is completely understandable. Watch out for the labs, and make sure you get the lab booklet early.
This prof usually gives 2-5 assignments per week. They aren't super complicated, but the weekly lectures are long and the exams are memorization-based. The professor himself is friendly and strong in his field, but there isn't much he can do to help students in this course other than tell them to refer to lectures.
2 days/week, you'll turn in: lecture reviews(every wk), lab(75% of time), and a quiz (50% of time). it is manageable if you truly put in the time to listen and review. He has questions in his lecture videos that appear on tests- these require a ton of studying. Very nice man, his dry humor makes the lectures enjoyable. Very enlightening class!
Professor Lee is actually pretty great and GEO 1401 is a good class if you're interested in geography. That being said, it's incredibly hard and time-consuming.
DO NOT take this class unless you want to have a lot of homework. The tests have so many terms to memorize its almost impossible to pass them. I thought this class would be an easy A but no.
This class was one of the worst I've taken at Texas Tech. The amount of homework and lecture content every week was insane, yet nothing I did felt like it mattered. The books were incredibly expensive, and the exams were incredibly difficult, especially the map portions. Find a different instructor or a different science class to take. Avoid this.
Dr. Lee's class is not hard and it's not difficult to pass the course as long as you do the assignments. There is a lot of homework but if you complete it you will most likely pass even if you don't do well on the tests. The lecture notes are only worth a few points each but they definitely add up over the semester so don't skip out on them!
Do not take this class. You would think it would be easy to get a good grade with the amount of homework and labs you have to complete however they are only worth like 5 points each. Unless you are just really interested in this class and want to study every week find a different professor.
Unless you want to sell your soul for an A, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS, trash professor unclear guidelines the whole course.
He is a hard grader and makes you dreed your life. did 5 times more work in his class than any other class this semester.
This online class is extremely time-consuming. There are normally 4 assignments due every 3 days. Tests are proctored and extremely difficult. DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE. Find a different professor if you can.
He does his lectures great although the amount of work required for this class is ridiculous. You cannot possibly have time to do anything else with the great amount of work he is asking you to do weekly. I learned a lot but all tests are proctored and extremely difficult.
The amount of work this course requires is ridiculous. Assignments/lectures take upwards of 10 hours/week and are due every Wed+Sun. He required the purchase of 4 different books, 2 of which he wrote. Exams are so hard and strictly proctored. Avoid this class!
Worst class Ive taken. Professor Lees class is the most time consuming and difficult class Ive taken at TTU. Grades arent put in for months at a time and the amount of work in this class is ridiculous (2-3 hours every Wednesday and Sunday). Do not take this class you will regret it. I dont understand why Tech still has Professor Lee teaching.
I took GEOG 1401 online with Professor Lee thinking that it would be similar to other asynchronous online courses I have taken before. I was wrong. Be prepared to have 1-2 chapters of notes, a lab, and a quiz due every Sunday and Wednesday. I wish I could go back in time and not take this class. Avoid this class with him at all costs!
the worst professor I have had. Workload is way too much for such a low level class and when given feedback he basically says "oh well, yea the FAQ on the syllabus". makes you buy FOUR textbooks all written BY HIM and only used TWO. No help on labs and does very little explaining in lectures but will say "that might be on the exam" on some subjects
Way too much homework for an entry-level class that students only take for an easy science credit. 2-3 hours of homework twice a week with multiple hour-long lectures you're required to take notes on. I've never made below an A in my life and I made a C in this class. This professor ruined my GPA.
I'm currently in my second semester and I just dropped this class--it's SO much for an introductory/mandatory course for those outside of a science major. Too much homework per week, lengthy lectures, 400/~700 of the total grade being used up by exams. Choosing this class was a huge mistake and ruined my motivation for anything outside my major.
Be prepared for a lot of Homework that's only worth 2 points and the test are memorization based and remotely proctored. He makes us do a lab every week, along with 2-3 lecture reviews sometimes 4. We have to do a quiz just about every week and he made us buy like 3-4 books all of which he wrote. Do NOT take this class.
Dr. Lee is a good man, and is probably a great graduate-level geography instructor. With that being said, this 1000-level class was more intensive than any of my 3000 and 4000-level classes. The homework assigned is due frequently, and the tests are absolutely brutal. Professor states that modern college is easy, so he tries to make it hard on you.
The semester started less than a month ago. I have never disliked a class more. There is SO MUCH HOMEWORK, and I honestly believe it's ridiculous to assign REVIEW LECTURE NOTES as HOMEWORK. We're already taking our first exam this weekend there's no grades. I'm literally a business major & this class has more work than my actual business courses.
Ridiculous amount of work.
This is the worst class I have ever taken.
I thought this class would be fun because I think the environment is cool. This professor made me never want to be in nature again.
He is a very nice professor, he always quickly responds to emails about assignments and you can tell he is very sweet. However, the class… there is a ridiculous amount of homework, I spend at least 2 hours on assignments every time something is due. The content is also hard and confusing for somebody who is not at all interested in geography.
Prepare for a heavy workload in this class - lots of weekly homework, labs, and quizzes. The exams are tough, but unstuckstudy can be a helpful study tool. Overall, it's a challenging course, but engaging with the material is key.
As a student who has to work to pay for college I found this class to honestly be disrespectful to students. Having multiple assignments due a day that take multiple hours each to complete is unnecessary and hindered not only my ability to finish other course work but also my ability to work so I can pay for my education. Worst class ever taken!
I won't lie and say this course is a piece of cake. There's weekly homework and labs. This course is about time management. There's many reviews about an insane work load but most of these review sounds like people who never took a science course before. Time manage correctly and you will be fine. Dr. Lee is also very responsive and understanding.
Although I got a B, it was not ease. The exams cover 4 chapter increments. Even though i prepared for the exam, it seemed as if none of the material covered on the exam was on there. Luckily, some of us ask for some extra credit assignment which helped us out a little bit for the grade. If you get a A or B, you're gonna earn it.
I took this class online and throughout the semester I was unaware of my grade in the class. My grade always showed about 188/205. I made an F because the grade that is shown is only of the assignments I turned in. I was unaware I was missing exams because I thought the "tests" were the exams. I made 100% on 37 assignments and he never told me.
This class is terrible. I took an online science class hoping to get my 4 credit hours in a more manageable way, and instead I got one of the heaviest workloads I have ever seen. Anywhere from 2-10 assignments due a week, with 4 due in one day. Requires three different books, but almost none of the material is actually on the exams.
Be prepared for a lot of homework. There is usually 3-4 assignments due every 4 days. Even though there was a lot of work, the TA's just handed out full points majority of the time. Probably because they had to grade so much lol. The exams weren't horrible, just study the reviews and you'll be ok. His lectures were interesting and sometimes funny.
Do you love wasting your time? Perfect, this class is just for you! I'm a transfer student, and a science credit didn't transfer, so I had to take this class. Top 2 worst classes I've taken, and it's not 2. You have to purchase a physical lab manual that could 100% be added to Canvas, another money grab. Tons of assignments. Good luck.
The one nice thing I can say is that he seems like a very genuine and nice guy, but this class is an absolute joke. How am I a senior and this demands more from me than my 4000 level classes? The amount of homework is comical, and you basically cover every topic in science known to man throughout the semester. Waste of my time and energy. Avoid!!!!
