Funny as Hell
Very Cool teacher
Such an awesome guy, and a great professor - He cares about students and is very intelligent but not arrogant. He's funny and he goes out of his way to help his students - way too good for a St. Rose Prof!
Awesome guy, difficult class
Marlett was a great professor, wish i could have taken more classes with him. Intrested in his students and enjoyable class to attend. Not an easy grader, but you will learn things
the material's hard but he's very helpful and funny. You don't learn tested material in class,u have to research the material yourself. ADVICE: don't do essay questions on study sheet, they won't be on the test. its a waste of time
One of my favorite teachers! Very funny, and always has interesting facts to add to lessons. I wish i could have had more classes with him.
Awesome professor!! Very hard class, and he's a tough grader but he is extremely helpful and cares about his students. He's funny and smart so class is always interesting.
A nice guy and a good lecturer, but when it comes to papers, he is too broad in his topics, does not give enough information as to what he expects, and then penalizes the students for his inability to specify his desires. Not my favorite.
lots of fun. smart guy too.
I love this man.
Dr. Marlett a major asset to the College. He is interesting and funny and makes religious studies relevant to real life. Very approachable and willing to help if you need it. Definitely take his class, especially the Joy of Sects.
Very helpful, makes a fairly boring subject interesting. Highly recommended.
Greattt guy.....material kinda hard....but he'll help you!
very difficult class, a lot of info given in the lectures. reading is definitly required to understand the topics. a religion professor who uses profanity: interesting, but very helpful.
One of the greatest professors I have ever had. He is one of the most intelligent people I have met. Not only does he relate religion to everyday life, but he does it in a way to include every student. His tests are fairly simple if you have paid attention throught the learning period. If you have any questions, just ask him. He is willing to help.
One of the best professors I have had since I have been there. Not only is he funny, but relates and has a story for everything he talks about. AWESOME!
He's smart, funny, interesting, and actually cares about his students. Definitely one of my favorite professors but don't expect his classes to be easy.
He is a great professor. He is really funny and actually kept me awake in class. take good notes in class and keep up with the reading and the papers and tests shouldnt be a problem
The best teacher on campus...i had him his frist year at st rose and he is still the best on campus. interesting and he actually cares about what each student has to say and offer....his kids are cute too.
i heart dr. marlett. it doesn't get much better than him, as far as professors go.
He is a fun guy. He really knows his stuff. It's a really interesting class and he really cares about his students. But he does grade pretty tough. Make sure you go into deal on papers and tests and you'll be fine.
Very intelligent and enthusiastic about what he teaches. He always has time for his students and has a great sense of humor. By far one of the BEST professors at Saint Rose.
interesting classes, great sense of humor
alright teacher, nothing special at all! He knows what hes talking about but gets side tracked way to easily. He tends to tell stories about something which is being talked about, which is just a waste of time. His sense of humor is good, but he needs to understand when to be funny and when to be serious. Immature man!
I do not like the way he teaches. Classes that are 100 level classes should be 100 LEVEL CLASSES. very very unfair and I will never take a class from him again.
Great teacher. Very helpful and really funny. Doesn't handle fools or whiners well (see below). Far too good to be teaching at this place.
hes crazy. i mean completely insaine, but he knows what hes talking about.. just gets too side tracked easily
excellent teacher!
He is really immature and does not focus on the course material. He is constantly going off topic and his notes are impossible to follow. He swears and gives the middle finger (not to anyone in class) all the time. GROW UP!
good teacher, very enjoyable class
Dr. Marlett is an excellent teacher who really knows the information in his lectures and can speak intelligently to any questions students ask him. He's highly entertaining, too.
Marlett keeps you interested on a lot of material that isn't always interesting. The class was difficult, but he was always there for extra help when you needed and was very lenient with paper due dates.
Class material is boring, but Marlett finds ways to make it interesting. He's a great teacher and really knows his stuff. He'll answer any questions you have and is always willing to help. A lot of readings, but not too much work. Keep up with the readings and you'll do fine.
Jokes are very humorous. Very excited in what he talks about. highly, highly recommended
awesome teacher. relates what we learn to our lives and "translates" the lecture to our language. gets the class involved with examples and makes it easier to understand.
Only allows 6 absences before there are consequences.
Awesome professor... he has an incredible wealth of knowledge with a deep respect and admiration for his students. He is always available for help outside of class and works to make the course intriguing and interesting for individual students. DEFINITELY TAKE HIS CLASSES, especially upper level courses.
Grades very tough. Doesn't get papers back fast at all. He is very crazy and funny. I had him at 8 AM, and he made it fun. If you like sports and can't talk about them..take him, he relates a lot of stuff back to sports.
One thing that makes him different from most professors is that he really takes our interests and involve them in the class. He doesn't just teach, he engages. He's really funny and has some wild humor.
He's a great teacher. He's funny and can joke around a lot. I think it is a refreshing change to have a teacher who will talk to us like we are adults. i.e. MATURE enough to deal with swearing and the like. Knows his material and really feels for his student's needs. I do not like religion, but he keeps me interested.
Very entertaining! He keeps it real and uses many examples of todays way of living to comprehend the material. Loved the class although his tests are extermely difficult, even for a mandatory low level course
Dr. Marlett is a great professor; one of my favorites. He taught Ethics & Values by using a lot of personal stories to tie in with the information we were learning. Very entertaining and lenient as far as extensions go. He's not a push-over though.
Great guy hard grader but soo nice and easy to get along with
Ok first off this is the best professor on campus. His classes are always enjoyable, he is real personal with his students and makes everyone feel comfortable in class so that no one gets lost in the lesson. His ties are often the highlight of the class and if you can't handle an honest teaching method then go back to middle school!
His classes are always enjoyable and give you a new outlook on life values. The class entails a lot of reading.
Nice guy, boring class.
Great teacher!!!! Loved his class. He is very clear in his lectures and keeps you very interested. Swears a lot and is very funny!
Jeff is a great professor. I knew NOTHING about religion and it didn't help taking it at 8am 2 days a week. he really helped me understand and guided me in the right direction for the papers and the final. Wish I needed to take an additional with him.
My favorite professor ever! He's so nice and funny and definately makes class fun. I could care less about religion but he really explains it at a level anyone can understand. I highly suggest taking his class!
Marlett plain and simple is kick ass! :)
Great teacher. Always interested in the subject. He's very good looking, which helps you pay attention more.
HILARIOUS.
In a word: prick. Yes, he's funny - but he knows it, which just makes him obnoxious. The class was supposed to be about a variety of religions but the only thing he talked about was Catholicism. And, if you tried to question him on anything, he would simply skirt around the ques. Bottom line: if you're Catholic, you'll like him. If not, good luck!
He is simply like your average guy friend. Loves sports and he either loves you or hates you. If you are cool to him, he will be cool to you. He grades very hard and doesn't really help with making it known what you did wrong. Conclusion: Cool Guy, Tough Grader. Better know how to write a good essay or you will not enjoy his grading.
Dr. Marlett was not very helpful when it came to what exactly he wanted in his short papers. He grades hard and does not offer much explaination for the reason of your grade or what you could do to improve even if you talk to him in person. He is also slow at returning e-mails and grades of assignments submitted online through e-mail.
Dr. Marlett tends to act more like a friend than a professor, but he is easy to get along with and does teach decently. His tests are a bit difficult and he throw things on there he didn't put in the study guide, but did touch up on in class briefly. Clarity on assignments is not the greatest. But go to class, pay attention and you'll be ok. :]
Jokes around a lot, swears profusely...basically, he's like the guy next door. He's always there for help if need be, but his tests aren't difficult. Pay attention in class and do the readings and you'll breeze by.
Best teacher I've ever had.. Seriously! I was so bummed out it was an 8am class, and it turned into being really fun. He makes you want to learn! Interesting!!!
I don't know why but his class was not easy at all for me, maybe because I have no interest in the subject matter. If you really want to learn you have to read the text, because it is impossible to gather anything significant from his slide shows. Don't take him if you're easily offended.
His work is hard but he is very helpful and tries to keep you interested as much as possible.
Great teacher and knows how to keep it interesting and really engages with all of his students like any college class you have to do the work and you will succeed
Very funny guy, keeps you interested during class. Only had 4 assignments all semester though. 2 papers, a midterm and final. You have to do well on those or you're screwed.
He is a really nice professor but I didnt really learn much. He only graded us four times per semester and did not really prepare us for the two tests. He never gave us homework.
Marlett is a very funny dude but his class drags on for what seems like 4 hours. His notes are very scattered and they're rarely on his tests. His tests are almost impossible unless you read the textbook which he never tells you to do.
There for his students but some times his lectures get boring. He's a clear cut teacher and there's only a mid-term and final in the class. I bombed the mid-term because i studied last minute which is totally my fault. He has some interesting view on religion and I liked taking his class last semester.
Dr. Marlett is not very friendly, doesn't clearly answer questions, and takes forever to answer emails. I recently submitted an assistant that followed his directions exactly and covered all of the material covered, his grade was unfavorable. Even though I quoted both the text and his lecture several times. Not good at grading I don't recommend him
Don't bother buying the textbook you never use it. He gives a midterm and final which are hard if you don't read the book because his notes aren't very clear. Wouldn't recommend him unless you're really into religion because he's not very open to helping students who don't understand the material or his expectations
Marlett was an interesting professor with very little filter, which kept me awake for his 8am. There were two exams and two papers throughout the semester. Didn't use the textbook often, but based the exams off the textbook rather than his tangential lectures. Overall, interesting class, but make sure to study for tests and be thorough with papers.
Hilarious, absolutely fun. But he doesn't pull punches in grades though.
Dad jokes and trolley problems. 2 Papers (around midterms week and finals week) and 2 exams (the midterm and the final). Neither of these are difficult, but you do have to put in a little effort. Allowed 4 absences, keeps lectures lively. Posts notes online and gives reviews for the exams. Extremely friendly, caring, and approachable. 10/10!
I thought Dr. Marlett was a great teacher. He was funny and knew everything he was teaching well. Honest to god if you take ethics and values take it with Dr. Marlett. He is one of my favorite professors here and I am happy to see he became the dean.
Had him as a teacher years ago, but he seemed to be a caring and understanding teacher. He was an honest grader, and sometimes gave extensions on assignments if needed.
Dr. Marlett is one of the most amazing professors at the college. He makes every class enjoyable and engages everyone's attention. I highly recommend taking a class with him.
Dr. Marlett is a great professor that provides informative lectures. He always adds humor into his lessons which makes them more engaging. I wish there were more assignments in the class because our overall grade was based on very few assignments.
Marlett is the funniest professor i've ever had. His lectures are amazing he always adds some humor. His class is fairly easy as long as you pay attention and do the work. But i greatly recommend taking his class.
Dr. Marlett is one of my favorite profs at SR. He has a great sense of humor and gives engaging lectures. Outside of class he's very responsive and will always willing to answer questions and help clarify material, just don't be shy about asking. All in all, he really cares about his students and as long as you pay attention you'll do well.
Best professor ever! He is not only hilarious but his world religions class is so interesting!
Marlett is one of the worst professors I have ever had in my almost complete collegiate career. I took his Christian Ethics class, which consisted of scattered, crude, incoherent note-heavy lectures. He is obnoxiously left-wing, and he actually bashed Christianity regularly despite claiming he was a believer. Tests have nothing to do with notes.
As a professor, he is extremely knowledgeable about religion, and his lectures reflect that. He does swear often, so if that bothers you you might not want to be in his class. He is also funny. He does not give out homework often (at least in New Religions). The hardest assignments are the tests, but you get a week to do them at home.
