He is the most intersting professor i met in elco. No exam throughout the course only essays to turn in. He gives you extra time to work on it if u can't turn in on time.

If you can talk like Shakespeare in a timely oral communication you'll love this class. Mainly the vocabulary rains McMahon's every session. Lots of oral participation and in class presentation and 2-3 heavy novel readings, journals, essays, etc.

If you want to think outside the box, not read a boring, stuffy novel, but instead read about real life issues, then McMahon is YOUR man. I love this guy. Took him two semesters in a row and got an A in both classes. Just don't be lazy, he doesn't ask much of you anyway.

This man keeps the class focused and entertained and his lectures are engaging,if taking him for 1C then your grade mostly comprises of 4,5 page mini research papers turned in at 4 week intervals and 4 or 5 writing surprise quizzes,but lets you know ahead of time so there not really a surprise, read the book as thats where you'll get essay prompts

This is my second English class that can have fun in lecture. He explains everything in detail with jokes. Therefore, you can pay attention to him around the clock. If you are good at grammar, you will get a very high A. Content is not very important, unless totally unrelated. I write some concepts in phy, chem, bio as analogy, and he marks "Good!"

Really ridiculously easy class, very helpful and nice. But not a challenge, so if you're looking for an easy class take him. Mcmahon is a good instructor. His lecture is generally more interesting than most of other boring instructors in ecc. He does not grade harshly but the policy itself is tough. It is not his fault. Be prepared with your grammar and try to stay awake during the class. He gives a lot of hints for the papers.

I was terrible at writing essays until I came to his class. He helped me understand how to write a clear thesis. He is there for you, you just need to ask for help if you need it. All his lectures are online to if you miss class. He is such a good professor!!

Professor McMahon is a hilarious and smart teacher. You'all always leave class with a chuckle and some new knowledge. The coursework is very hard though. You'll have a total of 5 essays along with 2 in class essays. He does offer a lot of tips on his blog though and he writes out the outlines for the essays. Make sure to go to his office hours too!

The BEST teacher I had this year. All you have to do if write essays and you'll pass. He gives you a couple topics, and you choose which to write about. He is very open minded, and would not mind spending time understanding his students views on certain topics. Often thanks students for showing him different perspectives as well. :)

Honestly he was really easy and his class was so easy. I took his English 1A class online and it was an easy A because not only does he let you resubmit your paper if you get a flow grade. All we did was write papers and all the papers we wrote about was all interesting topics. On top of all that if you ever had any questions he was super chill.

I took this class right after english 1A thinking it was going to be more difficult but I enjoyed it more than I thought. He gave us 4 essays the whole fall semester and each prompt was interesting. He graded fair and gave direct feedback which helped me a lot. I'm not a fan of essays at all but he made it possible to enjoy.

The homework is the first two paragraphs of your essay. We had 5 essays that were graded fairly easy. He allows 5 days after the due date to turn in your essay with no points deducted. Great teacher, super understanding. Very interesting topics as well.

I thought his essay topics were really interesting and timely. We were online asynchronous but he held open zoom hours twice a week and was happy to go over your paper, give constructive feedback and even let you re-submit your final essay if you needed to make corrections. This was my second time taking Mr. McMahon. This time it was online. He does Zoom I believe twice a week. He gives great feedback on your papers. I thought it would be difficult taking this class online but it wasn't. He lays everything out in the modules and the assignments. Definitely would take him again for another class.

This is the best English professor I have ever had it was such an easy class. He is very helpful and gives great feedback when it comes to your essays. I know some people are scared to engage in zoom but he will help you start on essay if your stuck and give you an outline like actually write the main points to help you start out.

Professor McMahon makes the class engaging with his stories and real-world discussions. The essays are manageable if you use resources like ChatGPT and Unstuckstudy for prep. He wants you to succeed - just stay on top of the work.

A really laid back professor, you watch podcasts, shows, and short films related to your assignments and essays to get a better grip on what you're going into. A really great teacher and had amazing enjoyable lectures. Would take again!

4 major essays the whole semester. Lot's of reading material but are quite interesting.

Mr Mcmahon makes the class very enjoyable and easy to manage. For our class the assignments for the semester was 4 essays with 2 building blocks for each essay that could be used for the final essay. He makes the class very enjoyable. I recommend going in person, he dives very deep into the topic and helps lay out the essay easier.

I took this class as a dual enrollment student, it was online and the class was manageable. The professor responded to my emails in a timely matter and he also grades fairly quickly. The class was manageable since the assignments were building blocks, then for the final essay you would be able to use the building blocks to help format the essay.
