Awesome prof. He is funny and is willing to explain anything you need help with! Awesome guy! Tests are super easy as long as you do the practice questions!
awesome teacher, makes lectures fun and interesting. shows funny video clips, and tests are super easy if u do the practice questions. the tests took me 15 minutes each and i did really well.
This class is great! Dr. Measelle is a really interesting lecturer. He makes learning great fun! His tests and quizes are really easy as long as you use the study questions.
Poor attendance for his lectures...has been there for 2 or 3 the entire term. Questions on midterm and test do not match up with lectures. Requires a lot of book reading. Cool, funny guy...time demanding class
WOW. I only showed up for the midterm and the final, and got an A. This class was such a joke, and the discussion sections were worthless too. I opened my book all of three times. PSY 202 overlaps WAAAAAAY too much with PSY 201, it's like 201 dumbed down.
Really easy class if you study the test question pools. Prof. Measelle is nice, but his lectues are some what dull.
He reverse curved the final grade in the class so my 93% only earned me a B+. A huge lecture and this teacher had to have substitute teachers about half the classes because he was absent for personal reasons.
The class was relatively boring...but decent. His lectures are posted online, so you don't HAVE to attend for a decent grade. Unfortunately, we had a lot of guest lecturers who were more dull than him. And his curve on the final is horrible. I earned a 92% and got a B+, which was highly irritating, especially when you're on academic scholarship.
sweet
This class was interesting, but not too challenging intellectually. Professor Measelle did not make clear his grading policy at the beginning of the term, so I ended up with a 91.5 thinking I got an A. Then he changed the grading curve giving me a B. It pissed me off majorly. At least he could tell us at the beginning of the term!
I thought he was an okay teacher, but not the best. Psychology is my major so I loved the information, but I found myself bored most of the time, especially when there were guest speakers. Also, I was confused about the grading becuae.
he posted all the questions for the quizzes online as "practice questions." also all the lecture notes were posted so it was more or less pointless to attend. (plus he was never there) however he screwed everyone over with the completely unexpected backwards curve at the end... so just cuz its easy, def dont slack off
He is funny and we really like the short clips he pulls off youtube. They make the class more fun. I like him but his studyguides are so difficult
Jeff Measelle is a joke professor. I felt like I wasted so much time and money on this class. He posts all of his lectures online; test and quiz questions are posted online prior to the actual text but the questions are impossible to answer and don't match up with what we're learning at all. DO NOT TAKE A CLASS WITH THIS PROFESSOR.
He is one of the most entertaining teachers I have ever had. He keeps this large lecture hall interesting and fun, with a few laughs here and there. I would strongly recommend Jeff Measelle.
Very good teacher, easy but a good speaker and very experienced in his field.
hes way chill, shows lots of you tube videos. test are completely off the study guides.
Great teacher. Makes the material very comprehensive. I loved the class and would say take any class he teaches!
A terribly easy class. Waste of time.
Very funny guy. Lectures are very informative, but not mandatory. Course grade consists of exams (including final), research (participating in lab experiments), and completing reviews of the researches. The exams are primarily made up of questions from the study guides (questions are identical in exam).
He is really funny and shows interesting youtube videos in class to help you comprehend the information. Really intelligent and knowledgeable in this field.
No use in going to class, everything is on blackboard. He covers material that he is personally interested in, and skips 90% of the information in the chapters assigned. Yes its an easy class, but boring.
GREAT TEACHER. HILARIOUS.
8am killed me. What he taught, I learned in my basic high school class, but it was still interesting. He was funny. If you didn't take a high school class, I'd take it. It's easy and hard at the same time. You really have to think and know everything, but the answers are common sense almost. I liked the class overall.
Would not recommend. Material is interesting, but tests are impossible. Harder than online, open book check-ups. 87% was the high score. And he MIGHT curve our final grades. I dropped because I didn't want to spend the majority of my time trying to barely pass. He may be funny, and show cool videos, but something's wrong when no one gets an A.
Professor Measelle is the best of the best. His classes are fun, engaging and appropriately challenging. Additionally, he is a sweet guy and likes helping and relating to his students. I highly recommend him as a professor and a great resource at the UO.
Jeff is very fond not only about what he teaches but of his students as well. He has experience in the research field and loves discussing that with students. His exams are as much textbook based as they are lecture based. He obviously wants to inspire students and brought in a multitude of great guest speakers. Loved the class over all!
Class is overall very interesting and he is entertaining. The tests are very very hard. Last midterm 75% of the class got a C or below. Need to read the textbook!
He never responds to emails. He is too into being funny and liked. He uses online tools because the class is otherwise too large for him to handle.
He is a funny professor, and really makes class fun and enjoyable. One thing I do not like about this professor, is that he is a very tough grader, and makes his tests very hard to even get a C. I would take him if you like reading, but if you don't like reading, don't take him. The only way to get at least a C in this class, is by reading the text
Jeff is very knowledgeable about the field and expects an appropriate amount of work from his students. I'm not complaining about the reading because it's impossible to cover everything in the lectures. See him at his office hours, ask him questions, get to know him. He has a lot of students.
The tests are absolutely ridiculous. The tests are pretty much like taking a psych analysis. The only nice thing is that the grades are curved at the end of the class. We have weekly quizzes that are pretty difficult as well.
He is awesome because he's super funny and chill but he's also just a good teacher! He took the material and made it interesting and easy to follow even when the concepts were complex. Reading is very important, but if you keep up nothing is a surprise or difficult. Figured that out when I actually started halfway through.
Jeff is a really nice guy and a very knowledgable teacher
Super interesting class but the tests are really hard
Jeff isn't one of those teachers who tries to be cool. He just is.
Just an all around good guy. One of those teachers you want to go visit after you have taken his class. If you get the chance please take one of his classes!
Great professor. I am taking two of his classes. PSY 202 is a huge lecture class of 500 people and it still makes you feel connected. He is hilarious, real, and you get out of it what you put in. Make an effort to get to know him and I am sure you won't be disappointed. He is the most interesting man, with many connections! Love him!
LOVE this guy. lectures are long but he makes them entertaining and funny. would take another class from him, you do have to study hard for the tests though, but theres only two. I clickers are used in classes for participation.
Super funny and very knowledgable. In terms of grading you have 2 midterms and no final and they're not cumulative so you're chilling.
Dr. Measelle is an awesome professor. Gives great lectures and does an excellent job engaging a large hall full of students. He seems very busy, he hands off most of his administrative duties to the GTFs. Very knowledgeable about psychology and thoughtfully answers questions; he clearly respects his students. Study guides will be your best friend.
Great professor. Classes are usually composed of lectures, activities where he makes us engage with the material (often debates or asks us how we would approach this real life scenario). Loves questions and makes us think about it first instead of automatically feeding us answers. Class size was really small so it felt more personal.
He was funny and respectable, but left out HUGE parts of the lecture that we had to finish on our own. The work load is do-able and the tests were okay but classes always got out early when there was so much more that needed to be covered.
Hilarious professor that keeps long lectures interesting and engaging. Provides good study guides for tests so if you attend lecture and study the 2 midterms (not cumulative) won't be a problem. Would definitely recommend taking a class from him!!
Really interesting, great class
This class was very enjoyable! The thing that I would recommend, is to read the textbook thoroughly, and to pay attention to the definitions in the book. To prepare well for the exams, make sure you review the lecture slides carefully, as well as the big concepts from the book. All in all, the prof. is very humorous and caring for his students.
Jeff know what he is talking about when it comes to psychology. His lecture are very interesting but covers lots of information. You think you don't need to know every detail he covers in lecture, but YOU DO! He threw questions at us on the exams that the class would not of expected. Tests are fairly difficult.
Measelle is hilarious and makes a 300-person class feel way smaller. He's a cool guy that wants students to do well, and he knows his stuff! iClickers were attendance. LOTS of reading, and midterms are hard; just make sure you study/read hard. I got bad grades on the midterms, but with other points I still got a B. Definitely would recommend him!
Jeff was by far my favorite professor for fall term. He's a super funny guy and he makes the long lecture go by really quick. He's one of the few professors that can actually make a lecture really interesting. He's a super engaging lecturer and knows a lot about psychology. The class does entail a lot of reading in order to do well on the midterms.
Nice guy, was obvious he was passionate and knowledgable about psych. The class was huge and completely lecture based, which was tedious. Attendance is taken through IClickers. Inquisitive's are long and the book is necessary to finish them quickly. Labs for this class were pointless and dull but mandatory and are led by students.
Dr. Measelle is an excellent and captivating lecturer. Lectures are interesting and usually never boring. Attendance is by iClicker, though it doesn't count for much of your grade. InQuizitives can be long and annoying, but the two Midterm exams are not difficult. Take the practice exam, most of the questions are verbatim. You will learn so much!
Jeff has a magnetic, funny personality and is an engaging speaker. He manages to keep (almost) everyone's attention for the lengthy 2-hour lectures with 500 students packed in an intro-level course. His tests are quite difficult though, so make sure you pay attention in class and read the textbook. Definitely review lecture slides before exams!!!
My favorite prof! I have taken a few classes from him and every class I have taken from him has been my favorite class. Amazing lecturer with humor and extreme intelligence. I have learned so much from him and am completely engaged. Not an easy class but that the respect I have for him and the subject motivated me to do the work.
Jeff was extremely insightful for his general psychology class. He goes more in-depth into the topics than most professors were and sparks peoples' interests in psychology. He encourages participation and makes the learning experience less painful. Midterms are easy though they require some studying.
Lots of reading and goes too quickly during slideshow presentations.
Jeff was an awesome guy. His class is really interesting, just lulls on a bit! There was a midterm and a final, but you had to go outside of class to participate in psych research. All in all, if you come to class and study for the tests you'll get an A.
The class was super interesting, but I felt that the structure of the class was not so great. His lectures were interesting, but I felt that they were compiled of so much information that was never used on the exam. The exam was super confusing as it was super short, but the average was low on a faulty grading system (he does allow you to make up)
Jeff makes a 520-person lecture feel small. He's always excited and cracked jokes a lot. His slides are very good at conveying the textbook material, though he tends to speed through them quickly. Your grade is based off of 10 online quizzes, attendance, research participation, a midterm, and a final. The final is not cumulative.
This class was really fun and relatively easy for me. The textbook is the same as PSY201 and there's a little bit of overlap in the first two weeks but then it the class takes off on its own course. I would recommend taking this class instead of PSY201 unless you need a <3 science group satisfying course because I found this prof's class better.
Jeff is so far my favorite PSY professor. He is funny and so chill. The first 2 weeks are a little boring if you have taken 201 already because it is the same topic. Overall, If you are questioning who to take PSY 202 with, please don't hesitate to go with Jeff because he is awesome!!! 10/10
This class was super interesting. We had some lectures and videos to watch every week, and then a straightforward weekly multiple choice quiz (quizzes could be done by getting info directly from the textbook). I also really enjoyed raising my virtual child in the simulation. We also had one paper which was fine. Jeff really cares about students!
Jeff is an absolute joy to have as a teacher. His lectures are comprehensive, engaging, and wonderfully hilarious. The slides do a great job of covering the readings. You don't have to read the book for exams besides for the inquizitives which are annoying. The 2 exams are pretty simple - multiple choice w/ sample questions often verbatim. 4/5.
Professor Measelle gave good lectures and all of our tests were online for the course. He also curved the class a little bit too! Hes really clear with grading and assignments and answers emails fast! He makes the large class feel small and always will answer questions!
Great professor, funny, very knowledgeable. Class has not a lot of work but the midterms can be kind of hard. Make sure you do the study guide and read the important parts of the textbook.
Great professor, very funny and engaging lectures. Professor Measelle is honestly the best professor that I've had here so far. You are graded on attendance by using iClickers and the work is relatively easy. Midterms are on the harder side but you should be fine as long as you stay consistent with the other work.
Jeff is such a great prof! Very knowledgeable & funny during class. Lots of reading in the textbook & weekly quizzes on InQuisitive which were pretty easy. 1 midterm & 1 final which I found to be more difficult than expected. Also required to participate in research studies throughout the term. Overall really enjoyed the prof despite the workload!
Jeff was so great. Class was 4-5:50 but he always made sure to let us out at 5:30 or before. He is such a great lecturer I was never bored because he talks so well and the topic of the class was super interesting. There are clicker questions so you need to go to class but you can miss 4 without penalty
Jeff was a really good teacher. Hes very supportive of students and always puts them first. He cares about psychology and inspires the students. Hes also pretty funny, I would definitely like to have him as a teacher again.
Jeff was one of the first professors I had during the first term of my freshman year. He is also one of the most memorable. He was clever/hilarious, and a great speaker. His lectures are pretty comprehensive, so you don't need to read; although, you should do the practice questions he gives you before the tests as many of them are verbatim.
Really great and funny professor. He knows what he's talking about and isn't boring, keeps you interested even though the lectures are long. iClicker is used for lecture attendance. Class is super easy and laid back. Weekly inquizitive and 2 midterms, both online.
Super good class, if you pay attention you will learn a lot, he makes lectures interesting. Every single classes ended short, only 2 tests and both were online + open note. Easy, fun class and good teacher.
Dr. Measelle is so awesome! One of my favorite professors. He is hilarious and so much fun, and I was bummed I wasn't able to get into PSY 308 with him next term. He makes the lectures fun and always ends early because. He takes attendance with iClicker everyday, and there are only 2 tests, open book + note.
One of the best profs ever...lets you out early, online midterms, and attendance is mandatory, but you get 4 skips. Lectures are ok (he is funny but psych is so long and can get boring). Labs are just older students trying to get a quick overview of what you learned that week. If you can TAKE ONE OF HIS CLASSES!
One of my favorite professors I've had so far at UO. Kind, funny, personable and makes it very easy to learn psych. GEs were easy to talk to, and he always answered emails quickly and helpfully. Highly recommend this class!
lectures were interesting and usually ended early! the tests were on canvas and open note, open textbook.
Amazing class and amazing prof. Super funny, caring, and open to student input. The only assignments are weekly reading quizzes, a midterm and final, and a final paper. Highly highly recommend!
Amazing professor! I felt like he really cared about what he taught and it was inspiring. Not many classes leave me feeling that way, but highly recommend!
Such a great professor. Slides are easy to follow and understand, along with the lecture that goes with them. Get out early often times. Exams are super, super simple and easy to take. Would honestly take this professor again.
this guy is awesome. lectures are engaging, he always ends 20-30 mins early, and there's very few assignments. his tests are HARD though so be sure to really go into detail with the study guide. other than that this guy is an awesome prof
professor measelle is a super charismatic, friendly teacher. he doesn't just read off the slides and has a good sense of humor. his tests in psy202 are pretty difficult despite being open note, but if you prepare well enough, you'll do fine. overall great professor!
Loved this class. He's super chill n funny. Some iclicker questions throughout lecture for credit. Only work is Inquisitives, 4.5 research participation credits, 2 midterms. Labs r just discussions, so chill but attendance taken. This has been the only class I've been truly interested in so far. Tests r open note/book and online super easy.
Jeff's lectures are so good, they make you actually understand the material. Weekly Inquizitives and attendance taken by iclicker. Midterms were multiple choice but weighted pretty heavily so make sure you do well on those. Some Qs were directly from study guide so that helped. Definitely would take him again he is so funny and passionate!!
Jeff is great and his lecture style made the class interesting even to someone who doesn't care much about psychology. There were 2 midterms and no final which were both online. Go to lecture and do the HW and its an easy A class.
1000000/10 best professor and class ever.
Jeff is an engaging person, but a bad professor. His approach to psychology is philosophical like which is strange for a science course. He rambles in lectures and has you critique theories. His exams are 80% long essay based which is tedious. He is unclear about the guidelines for his exam responses and nitpicks the smallest inaccuracies.
1 midterm was open book an other was canceled. 3 unique projects fairly easy and clear on requirements. I took 399 longevity and it was a good time. I can't say I was engrossed in the content as I played clash alot but it was decently interesting. I'm kinda a bum of a student in fairness
