This class is pretty easy. The test questions are much easier than the quiz and homework questions, which is good because the tests count more towards your grade. Thanks to his curve, I wound up with an average above 100. Don't bother with the textbook, I never read it. He explains more than you need to know in the video.

I've taken with pierno (didn't pass) and then Paterson. He's definitely easier and curves almost all the tests. There's more tests which helps your grade if you do bad on a couple

He provides so much practice work that makes it easier for you to understand the concepts. He has quizzes and homework every week but it's not a big deal, and it's a great study tool. He also has ungraded quizzes you can use for practice before tests once the assignments have closed. If you go to his office hours he is very eager to help.

DO NOT BE FOOLED, this is difficult material. This is not the kind of class that you can cram for and do well on. However, he is good at explaining things and gives many opportunities to improve your grade. 90% of your grade comes from exams so make sure you are doing the weekly homework. He's better than Pierno, but be prepared to work.

If you are going to take financial accounting take it with this guy. He genuinely cares about his students and is always there for you if you have a problem. As long as you keep up with homework and quizzes you will be all set for the tests. He gives you plenty of problems to practice with on there, along with ungraded quizzes, and extra credit.

This guy is a great professor for online Financial accounting! I go to UF and my advisor told me to take it here over the summer (I'm from tallahassee so it would be easy to take classes here) as its the most dropped course at UF. Patterson is always there with an immediate email back w help and is lenient with extra credit and late due assignment

First time taking ACG2021 and I liked it a lot. However, I am cery good at self teaching myself. Paterson is very straightfoward with what he doesdoes not want you to know. Exams are extremely similar to online quizes. Do the hw or you will not pass.

I've never put in more effort for a class because i knew going into it the material was tough. I read every single chapter and watched all his lectures and did Ednys and passed the class with an A. He is very understanding and will help with anything. His lectures are straight forward and to the point. Curved exams & some extra credit was very help

Paterson is so much better than Pierno, I can't even begin to explain the difference. Still a tough class, but while I felt like Pierno was out to get me the entire semester, Paterson clearly wanted me to do well. Go to office hours if you're having trouble! He's always willing to answer questions.

ACG2021 is a hard class, and you know that going into it. Paterson is great in that he really wants his students to succeed. He gives great curves on the exams, very in-depth videos and emails actual paragraphs explaining what is worth studying for exams. As long as you do the work necessary, it isn't too bad of a course. No need for textbook.

Accounting is a super hard class. The tests weren't too bad to take but I found that sometimes I would have questions that I had never seen any kind of example on how to do before. He always answered my questions via email right away. The quizzes due every Monday are LONG. I wish the tegrity sessions included more comprehensive examples.

Took this class to fulfill a business minor, and it was a very difficult class to take online. He provides a lot of resources for studying, and if I had used them I might have done better in the class. Take the online quizzes seriously because the tegrity lectures are long and hard to pay attention to.

Took him online throughout Summer. To pass, you have to put in a lot of work but he curves every test and gives you a week to do quizzes (as many times as you want). He tries to help all his students with curves. Make sure to get the book, it is essential to pass this class. The better of the two financial teachers

Took his class online over the summer. Definitely tough but doable with approx 5-6 hours a week of dedicated time. I watched the lectures every week (rather bland, 60-90 mins) and did all the practice content before the exams. I bought a PDF of the book but didn't use it a single time. I got an A but I definitely had to work for it.

Professor Paterson is the best professor I have ever had at FSU. He is extremely enthusiastic about the material and personally inspired me to become an accounting major. The material is difficult in nature for most people, however he gives you PLENTY of opportunities to learn it and prepare for exams (which he curves). Best accounting professor!!!

Yes class is hard, BUT it's so attainable to get an A/B, you really just have to work for it. The online class is worth doing, but you can't procrastinate!! How to get an A: watch the lectures, actually do the Red HW, understand the quizzes he gives (even if you have to rework them multiple times before a test), and start studying a early. TAKE HIM

Very straightforward in his expectations for the class. There's a good amount of optional homework which really helped in preparation for the tests, as well as weekly quizzes which really aren't that bad. He curved all 4 tests by an extra 5%, and then he also drops your lowest midterm at the end of the semester. Definitely would take him again.

I struggled in this class because I would do great on the quizzes for the chapters, but not so great on the exams. Most of your grade is based on the exams too. Taking the class online is hard, but the professor gives you all of the resources to do well. My only critique is that the quizzes and exams were nothing alike so it was hard to study.

He goes on his tangents in lecture so I skipped a lot, but just watch his videos to actually understand the material. He has pop attendance points tho. He lets you drop lowest exam and quiz scores. Take it online, you can take his chapter exams as many times as you want to make sure you get 100% on them, even though they aren't a big part of your grade. The quizzes are a great study tool, they're very similar to the exams and tell you why an answer is correct. Tough class but manageable if you put in work

I thought Paterson was a great professor. He gives all the tools necessary to do well in his class. The quizzes are a great resource and reading & watching the lectures will help you to do well in the class!

Very tough class but also very doable. Textbook is probably your greatest resource but Paterson provides seemingly limitless resources to practice and hone your knowledge. This is not like any class you have ever taken so do not treat it like it. You will have to spend a lot of time learning the material. But again, very doable.

The assignments every week were VERY annoying and long but you can find a lot of the questions online. I was pretty good at accounting and got high B's and A's on the exams but you do have to study.

Most of the reviews are for undergrad, so I figured one needs to be added for grad level. Great professor & extremely knowledgeable. Sometimes curves based on how everyone did. I love how he had fill in the blank notes - need to go to class to fill them in & he prints the notes out. Notes/HW have minor errors in them though so watch out for that.

It seems odd to review "Paterson" as honestly I did not watch any of his lectures. This is a Skoolers and done class. His grading policy is fantastic though, and he gives you great practice problems.

This class gets a really bad rep but as long as you read the book and do the practices quizzes A TON you will do fine. The quizzes are almost identical to the exams he just changes the wording and numbers. I didn't use skoolers but I would recommend it to people who aren't accounting majors and don't have a reason to learn this information.

Honestly not as bad as he's made out to be. Paterson tries his best to make the difficult subject of acg understandable. Definitely need to put in a significant effort to pass this class, but he's a decent lecturer. Graded quizzes are almost identical to exams so utilize those.

Professor Paterson is a great guy. He really does care about his students and wants them to pass. His lectures are not the best, in fact they are pretty much useless, because his lectures don't really go over whats on the quizzes/test. My best advice is to do the quizzes you have unlimited attempts.

Watch his online lectures vs. in-person lectures. The final exam can replace all 3 previous exams, which for me was the difference between an A and an A-. I didn't get Skoolers. I made sure to get 100s on his quizzes (unlimited attempts) and studied for a few days before exams. This class is not overwhelming if you stay on top of it.

Paterson gets rated really low but I dont understand. He has VERY clear expectations. You can take quizzes an unlimited number of times up until the due date. The quiz questions are a pool for the exam, so you often see things youve done before. If not, its just different numbers. He can waste time a little but I think hes a very fair professor

He realizes that accounting is a boring and hard subject so he tries to be incredibly lenient. The only reason i passed is he has a godlike grading policy where your grade on the final replaces ALL lower test grades, meaning you could bomb every test but do well on the final and pass the class.

This professor has a lot of bad reviews but as long as you put in the effort it is possible to make an A. Grading is based on chapter quizzes each week that you can take as many times as you want and 3 exams that you definitely have to study for. He gives plenty of material to help you succeed. It's not an easy A, but Paterson is a good professor.

Just like Chem, acg is hard wherever you go. Im not the smartest and I go out very often and still managed to receive an A in the class. Material is not easy to understand at first but makes more sense as you go. Didn't purchase skoolers or do the practice homework to study, only the quizzes. DO QUIZZES OVER AND OVER EVEN IF YOU GET 10/10 FIRST TRY

Great professor, my only suggestion for Dr. Paterson would be to emphasize purchasing the textbook. Without buying a copy of the 7th edition of Financial Accounting, I would not be able to pass the class, as the reading material gives lots of additional insight and clarity on the subject. My only regret is not buying it earlier and using it more.

Paterson was quite boring with his monotone voice but it is difficult to make intro to accounting fun. He taught the material in a way that could be easily understood and I appreciated his efforts

Honestly, this is an online class so how you do is more dependent on you than the professor. He gives you multiple attempts on quizzes AND they're open note. Tests are based on graded and ungraded quizzes which he gives you access to the whole semester. My only advice (if you're taking over the summer) is to take it alongside an easy class!

Professor Paterson is kind and understanding. I took this class during my masters program and although the material was challenging, he always looked for ways to improve our grades. He was flexible with deadlines and made sure no one was falling behind. I HIGHLY recommend taking his class.

Difficult class, boring lectures, but Paterson does do a good job at explaining the material and giving you the resources to do well. 4 tests including final, and weekly quizzes. He drops your lowest test and quiz score. I like how he gave us unlimited attempts on the weekly quiz to help our grade. Overall solid class and prof.

He's a nice professor. Take him in person, not online! Attendance is NOT mandatory and you'll still have online lecture videos on Canvas. He's a nice guy; don't be afraid to ask him questions during office hours. ACE offers free tutoring and TAs are available everyday. ACG 2021 is an easy A and a very enjoyable class.

He gives you all resources to do good. Its best to understand what the notes mean, then take the ungraded quizzes study his very well explained solutions that he provides for every question. He is always available for office hours. Probably 2.5 hours of work a week and take 4 or 5 practice exams before each exam. 4 exams including final.

Most of these reviews are from very below average students. Get Skoolers and this class is a breeze. Take practice exams 2-3 times and you'll get 95-100 on the exams. quizzes are easy and open note. This class is just wrote memorization. easy A

10/10 recommend! 3 assignments / week but they help you learn the info, are easy, and can be repeated for a better grade. Can't repeat exams, but he drops your lowest exam score. There's a textbook for the class but he also just gives notes, and that's all I used since they're pretty thorough. Lectures help add understanding, but aren't necessary.

i had skoolers & thought this class was very manageable. stopped going to class the second week but when i did go, i could tell paterson cares. every week theres 1 quiz, homework, and concept overview video. 3 unit tests, 1 drops, and then the final. the quizzes are just like the tests and have unlimited attempts. just practice and dont be lazy

His notes are really thorough and clear, I learned a lot from his class. He also responds quickly to your concerns. I think the homework and quizzes are helpful in understanding the material. The quizzes are especially important and a great study guide for exams. He also gives lots of opportunities for extra credit which is really nice.

The material he covers is a lot but he explains it really well in his lectures and is easy to follow. If you study enough en practice what he does it's easy to get an A.

It was a pretty hard class just because of how much content there is. There's a quiz every week with unlimited attempts and practice problems. The exams pull questions from the quizzes so if you do the quiz several times then you should be good for the exam.

When I took him, he dropped the lowest grade for each section including an exam and the quizzes can be taken over and over until they are due. As long as you study for exams it isn't that bad. He posts practice exams that are really helpful. He even adjusted his grading scale after the class ended which brought my grade from a B+ to an A-

One of the better online classes I have taken. All of the bad reviews are just because the class is hard that's all. It's easy to get an A in the class with the material he provides. For each exam, he offers a practice exam that pools questions from the real exam. Just take the practice exam over and over and you'll be set. Would take again.

Professor Paterson is a great professor. His lectures are very informative and the ungraded quizzes and practice exams are the greatest tools for studying. He makes sure you are aware of everything you could be given on the exam with enough practice to understand each possible question. He definitely sets his students up for success.

Get skoolers and do the practice exams and it is impossible to pass with anything lower than an A. GET. SKOOLERS.

This class is not for the weak of heart. It's asynchronous, meaning you will have to be extremely disciplined with your work. However, an A is very possible and not too hard. Do one section of notes every night and review those notes for a week or so before every test and you'll be completely fine. As long as you don't fall behind you'll pass.

Prof. Paterson was a great professor. Taking his class online, it was always easy to tell when things would be due and what was expected of me. The class isn't hard as long as you apply yourself and put some work into understanding the concepts. Exam questions pull from the same pool as the quizzes.

In my opinion, if you do A LOT of the ungraded quizzes and practice tests, you will be fine! I'm not the best student and the material is hard, but the ungraded quizzes and exams are the only thing you need to ace the class! Study a lot when the time comes and you will be fine. He drops the lowest of the first three exams.

Easiest class ever if you actually take the time to study and prepare. The concepts are truly not that difficult and Skoolers is unnecessary if you retake the practice tests over and over again, which pull from the same question bank as the real exams. Professor Paterson gives you everything you need to succeed. Also drops worst exam as well.

When I hear people complain about Professor Paterson, they're usually in his online course, or they don't really care about his class. For those who are invested and willing to learn about accounting, he is exceptional. His in-person lectures are interesting, and I appreciate his tidbits of knowledge. Show up and ask questions!

He's simply great. I enjoyed going to his lectures. And all of the material he gave was very useful for the exams. There are 3 exams (he drops the lowest) + a final exam. All homework and quizzes are online and he is very considerate with deadlines. You just need to put the work in and practice a lot, this class requires it.

Not too hard of a class, the homework can take a little bit tho. The practices exams were really helpful that's really all you need to study

I took ACG2021 during summer B, and Prof. Paterson was great! We quickly got through all of the info, and he even set aside review days before the tests. We took 3 tests (the lowest was dropped) and 1 unit exam. His lectures were lengthy, but full of great info! He also offered many extra credit opportunities! Definitely study the practice tests!

I took the in person section of ACG 2021 w Dr. Patterson n he was rlly awesome. Going to lecture is super importany bc he emphasizes a lot of the test material. If u do the practice unit exams until u get A's ur more than prepped for the real exams. He's super helpful n gives lots of extra credit so j go to class so yk abt those opportunities!

I recommend the hybrid class. He goes through the material and covers things on the exam. Exams are very similar to the practice exam and quizzes. Practice the ungraded quizzes a lot and you'll be fine.

I took his class online, and it consisted of around an hour of video lectures per week, and one quiz per week. His lectures were very good, and he did a great job of making sure you knew all that you needed to know. The practice tests draw from the same question pool as the actual tests, so as long as you do them multiple times, it is an easy A.

Professor Paterson is super nice and you can definitely tell he wants his students to succeed. The accounting courses are some of the harder prereqs for the college of business, but he does everything he can to help. Before each exam he even gives practice tests which are pulled from the same question bank as the exams.

Class felt manageable and not extremely difficult, as some make it out to be. Focus on taking the practice quizzes and exams multiple times to study, and watch the lecture videos for further help. His videos are very straightforward and focus on the material that you need to know for exams. He also drops one exam to help.

Watch the lectures, however you don't need them. You don't need to do anything besides spam the practice exams as many times as possible before the exam, make sure you get every point possible from the homework, that should get you an A. Lectures are like a cat scratching a chalkboard but I'm kind of into that so I didn't mind.

Not hard if u put effort and if u read the syllabus all the information you need is there. Textbook was $124 so beware of that. Dont watch videos just read the textbook because the textbook had everything you need for exams, and videos were short, barely covered anything.
