Genuinely cares if his students are learning. Does whatever he can to teach Chem
awesome! actually made chemistry fun!!!

Incredible teacher! Used visual, step by step teaching methods and made Chemistry much easier to understand! On top of that, he cares if you learn!
One of the best profs I have ever had. He made learning chem interesting and fun. He does everything he can to help you understand.
jumps on desks to show how electron energy jumps levels in photons. (i think that's why he did that). Can it be any more entertaining?
Makes Chemistry fun. Very easy to understand and really wants students to learn. If you have to take chemistry...take it with Dr. Pribyl!
he is a good guy . he is very approachable. he entertains questions at all times .
Very interesting and very fair
Very nice, makes chem fun and interesting
Awesome teacher. Makes the class interesting.

Pribyl was a great teacher! He explains things very well and expects you to learn your stuff. He was very approachable and was just a great guy overall. I recommend him!
really good teacher!! always answers questions. he tells you exactly what to expect for the exams and he grades very fairly. makes it easy to pay attention! take him if you can!
makes you feel like an idiot if you ask a question. do not take him for 106 i dont know how he is for 111 but he sucks
Not helpful and the tests completely suck! Dont take him if you expect an A or B!
Not a bad intro class. Tests were easy if you studied, and his resurrection points are awesome.
Very helpful and the test were not hard as long as you even looked over the material
Pribyl is very energetic! He made chemistry fun and interesting. Tests are easy, just look over the material before you take the test. If you have to choose...definitely Jeff Pribyl for Chem 104!
Great teacher!Explained the material in a way you could understand it and did crazy activities to make you remember what he was talking about. Tests were pretty easy if you looked over the material. I would highly recommend him for someone who has trouble understanding chemistry.
Pribyl is the best Chem teacher I've had. He does repetitive problems to help students understand concepts and will answer questions. He expects a lot out of his students. His tests are not that hard if you attend class and do the homework (which is not hard, it's just complex). If you need to take Chem, Pribyl is the guy to take.
good teacher at times...but is **** and discriminates
If you need/want to take a chemistry class, GO WITH PRIBYL!!! You need to go to class, but it's not that bad and you will learn more than you realize. Pribyl is a great prof!
Pribyl used a different teaching strategy this semester. We worked in groups, and there were very few short lectures. In my opinion this made the class harder. Expect to teach yourself from the book to fully understand everything. If you are willing to work you'll do fine.
Guided Inquiry method of teaching...sucks, all group work and really no lecture. It was hard to learn all of the concepts, if you take this class be prepared to put a lot of effort into it to get a good grade, I would only take this class if you HAVE to take it, not an easy A elective
Pribyl was awesome, I showed up to every class, took notes, barely used the book since everything he taught sounded better than reading the book. He's abit "crazy" at times with how he expresses chemistry but it just made it fun instead of just a teacher in monotone all day.
Don't let him bully you.
I was really surprised he recieved such high ratings. I had him for Intro to Chem and I didn't think he was great and neither did the people in my group. Don't expect extra help outside of class and expect the tests to be harder than what he teaches. I didn't really learn any concepts which is a bummer because I have a lot of chem in my future
I thought Dr. Pribyl was a great instructor. He made a point to give very clear notes and if you paid attention in class, you could figure out the types of problems he would put on the tests by the hints he gave. I got out of the class (an A) what I put into it (doing the reading). I will DEFINITELY take a class again with him in the future.
OMG who rates this guy well? he is the worst instructor i have had. i took him for a 100 level course and he rarely taught anything in class, wednesdays were group days this was mandatory day to attend... ok thats fine, but when you have a lecture hall of 300 people this is bull. basicly you had to learn to do everything out of the book on or on yo
I HIGHLY recommend Dr.Pribyl. He is a great prof. If you have a question do NOT be afraid to ask. He wants to help you and wants you to succeed. This is college you have to work for your grade it will not be given to you. He gives you hints in lecture of what will be on your exam. Pay attention, do the work and you will do great!! :)
The run down of the semester: poor help outside of class, uses weird voice inflections that make him difficult to understand, took friday classes out for online videos but only had two videos all semester, we were taught five days out of 18 weeks because we did worksheets the rest. He is the worst teacher I've ever had and would not recommend him.
He is a very upbeat type pf professor, slightly on the nerdy goofy side but that's to be expected from a chemistry professor. His teaching style was a bit different but he gives you plenty of chances to grasp the material and learn from past mistakes done on the tests. It was a good intro type class and I'd take him again for higher level classes
He my be abstract with his teaching but he is great at teaching because he knows what hes talking about so if you just ask him for help he'd be glad to help you.
I would not recommend this professor to anybody. He barley teaches and grades group work too seriously. All semester I've had to teach myself and when I did go in for help he made me feel stupid and didn't help me at all.
This was a difficult class but he gives you every chance to succeed. He makes you work for your grades, which he should. This isn't highschool anymore. Anyone who doesn't like him probably wants to just slip on by without doing anything. Do your work, pay attention, and you'll do great!
He teaches thing well. He explains them at a very simple level and will answer your questions in class. I have heard however out of class, hes not much help. I never tried to go to his office hours so I wouldn't know. He assigns homework and makes sure everyone has an understand before moving on. He gets really pissy randomly and will bully people
Enjoyable teacher. Good at teaching. Needed to look at the online videos to pass.
He teaches 104 like a high school class, but I came from a horrible teacher in 201 and I ADORED Pribyl. He made chemistry FUN again and I'm looking forward to a 201 retake. If you go anywhere in chem and you are fuzzy with the basics. TAKE THIS CLASS. He will reinforce concepts and help you actually remember them, not memorize them.
The class was taught backwards to me. You teach yourself-do homework-he grades homework-then teaches the material. There is little room for students to succeed in this course. If you took chem in high school and understood it REALLY WELL, you should be fine taking this course but i wouldn't recommend it overall. Also, way too much group work
I loved Dr. Pribyl. I never liked chemistry until I took this class with him. Yes he's a bit out there but it makes it interesting to listen to instead of the typical boring professor. He does make you work for your grade, however everytime I had a question he was happy to answer. You have to read the book, do the homework & assignments and show up
I am not a science person, but he makes Chemistry really easy to understand and learn. He answers questions and gives a study guide, so it is very clear what you need to know for the tests. His lectures are entertaining, because he is funny and a little out-there! I would take him for any level of Chem.
He is really entertaining and what not, but if you don't read you'll fail like me. on the test half of it will be from lectures (the hard stuff), but the other half is simple stuff from the book that will be easy points if you read, but you won't get them if you don't.
Dr. Pribyl is an awesome professor in my opinion. I understood Chem pretty well in high school so that could have played a role. Overall though hes good at asking students what THEY want reviewed and makes study guides so you know exactly what will be on the test.
Pribyl is an excellent teacher. He cares for his students. Always gives a clear answers in class, and never strays from the material. Make sure you read the book, it is mandatory. Keep on top of your grade, he won't calculate until the end of the semester. Only lab grades are posted. You will learn a lot, I promise you that.
He really wants participation in class and small groups.
The most amazing professor I have had at MNSU, I am not a science major but I loved Chem with Pribyl. He is able to teach in a way students comprehend. Watch the online videos meet with your groups for homework and you will do just fine!
Best chemistry professor I have ever had!
Definitely need the textbook for this class because he does assign homework every class period that you must do. There is a lot of other assignments he grades on which can help keep your grade up if you're no the best test taker.
Dr. Pribyl was a very good teacher. He knows what we are going through, and adapts his teaching lessons to help the class learn the material. Used many visual and active examples. Made chemistry a fun subject for me. I would highly recommend him.
Dr. Pribyl is a good professor that actually makes learning science fun. He was a bit cheesy at times but he had good teaching methods.
Dr. Pribyl is a good professor, but does not prepare you for the homework (which is done in groups). He wants you to read the chapter, do the homework, then teach it in class, but the homework can be very confusing at times. He is very passionate about his classes and wants each student to do well.
He gives homework that we don't know how to do, and then on the day it's due he will teach us the material that was on the homework due that day. Not an effective way of teaching in my opinion and makes me want to skip homework. The tests aren't bad and there is a way to get points back on the final, but the class is overall very annoying.
Worst professor that Ive ever had! He never responds to emails and if he does, hes very rude. Hes a tough grader, doesnt give clear instructions on assignments, doesnt tell you how you can improve, and doesnt help you if you need it. Another big thing, he doesnt give extra credit in the class or curve the final so dont even try to ask him!!
I took this class online and there wasn't a whole lot of interaction with the professor. It was sorta read the book(Cengage has cheap online) and take notes then take the test. He was easily accessible for office hours and is understanding when students have emergencies. That being said it's definitely a class that you need to put the work in.
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! he is the most interactive professor for an online class that ive ever had. he wants you to succeed and will go above and beyond to help you understand the content. hes amazing and i cant express it enough
Dr. Pribyl was overall a good professor. He would send out weekly reminders of when assignments are due. He put lots of material out to help us with the online quizzes. This class was online asynchronous and it was super easy to get A's on all the quizzes, as long as you try.
Class was out of 270 points. Quizzes were easy, but do get progressively more difficult. Class overall was easier than my high school chemistry. He is very firm on the grading scale and will not round/bump grades so don't waste time asking. You should get an A if you watch lectures, practice the material covered, and don't miss assignments/quizzes
I took this class for my gen ed science credit and it was such a relief. I wasn't great in high school chemistry and I was worried this would be difficult but he provides tons of great video explanations. Graded only on quizzes and labs but quizzes are easy and lab requirements clear. As long as you don't miss a deadline it's an easy A.
This class is basically a quick review of high school material. If you want to save money, don't buy the book. He only uses it for some practice problems. One of the most organized online classes I have had. Jeffery does a great job communicating and explaining the material. There are weekly quizzes, some Lab assignments, and NO final.
Dr. Pribyl is one of the most respected professor in MSU. However, to me he seemed very unapproachable, uncooperative and not so caring about his students.
Great professor for a difficult subject
Pribyl is by far, the most amazing professor I've had. He knows how to get you to smile, he's very down to earth and is aware we are all human and make mistakes as well as need time to rest. He is straight forward and will take time to help you.
This class was so easy. High school chem felt harder than this course and that's because Dr. Pribyl knew how to make it easy to understand. As long as you participate in class you'll be just fine.
Best professor I have ever had. Super funny, wants you to understand the material, takes his time to make sure you do. I normally suck at chemistry and found that I was able to tutor my classmates. Simple short tests, provides content outside of class. FREE TEXTBOOK!!! He's super friendly and cares about every single student.
quality professor if I do say so myself. His style is amazing because his lectures are well constructed and helpful when learning as a student.
Probably the most energetic instructor I've had since elementary school. He always tries to tie class material to real life and to make every lecture interesting. Take the class, you wont regret it.
Dr. Pribyl does a good job of explaining the material, and I never felt that I was wasting my time by attending a lecture. He is very clear about what must be done to get a certain grade in the class, and it's very easy to plan out your studying. Very fast grader as well.
very funny, great time in class. just difficult material.
I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Pribyl. I had to take a chem class so decided to just get it out of the way this summer. He sent weekly emails with a list of what assignments are due when that week. He also is SUPER responsive to emails if you ever have questions or want to clarify something. You can tell he cares and wants students to succeed!
This professor is one of the best at the university. His lectures are clear and engaging, making it easy to understand the material. He provides printed notes and practice problems that are similar to the exam questions. He's also always willing to help his students. He is a fast grader; I always received my exam results on the same day or the next
This course is legitimately just a review of high school chem. Pribyl is a super caring prof, and overall a fantastic human being. Lectures can get a bit boring, but he makes an honest effort to keep students engaged and interested. If you show up to lectures and pay attention this course should be an easy A. Decent professor, better person.
My first post isn't here anymore for some reason????? He is not as willing to work with students and is lowkey condescending.
Overall great professor. If you took chem in high school, you don't need to pay full attention but definitely study the material outside of class. If he offers chem 190 take it. The practice tests are very similar to the actual tests. They say to buy the textbook, but I never used it once. First test got 9/25 and still ended with an A-.
I took Chem in High school, and if you did fine in HS you'll be more than fine in this class. Basically the same thing but easier in my experience. He's great, super knowledgeable, and cares about student's learning.
Favorite professor and class I have taken since becoming a student here at MNSU. Caring, understanding, accessible, and knows how to truly help you learn the material.
Honestly you can do bad on all the exams and pass with a B. Just show up to labs and do the quizzes. No homework, just in class worksheets that are basically optional.
Had to take a chem class for my major and I am so glad I chose this one with Jeff! Super easy class for students that struggle with chemistry. Jeff was super organized and allowed you to work ahead throughout the whole class and gave step by step directions for lab.
I took his class online and over the summer. Work at your own pace, but there are strict deadlines. Very easy class. Nothing complicated at all. The only problem is that the content is all over the place. He assigns a chapter but that chapter has nothing to do with what you're learning. The videos are a life saver.
This was a great class. Science is not one of my strong suits and I enjoyed it. I loved the layout of the class, he was incredibly organized. There were a couple videos a day each around 5 min and then a quiz and then 3 bigger assignments, but still easy if you pay attention. Fun class overall and I do recommend. You can tell he cares!
Dr Pribyl makes chem very easy to understand and his lectures are not mandatory but are very helpful.
Great teacher and overall great guy. You can tell he actually cares about what he is teaching. TAKE HIS CLASS.
Its clear he cares about what he teaches, and he explains everything in an easy to understand way! The worksheets he gives during lectures are great because you can work ahead to try and see if you understand then follow along later as he does it for the class. The homework was fair and the exams were reasonable.
Priybl is a great professor who genuinely cares about his students. I would highly recommend utilizing both his office hours and separate class CHEM 190 for extra help with the coursework.
