Outstanding instructor. Very sharp dude. Takes something boring like monetary policy and makes it as interesting as possible. If you ask him questions, he will give very well-considered, well-reasoned, competent answers. No major complaints.

Its a funny class but you have to attend to get the grade. He is more than willing to help out if you ask.

Professor Reynolds is a super guy. I think he might even be a pirate, he's so super. He's Irish, but he doesn't have a potato farmer background, at least I don't think he does. Take this class if you're interested in swashbuckling, but try Nord if you're into potato farming.

Mr. Reynolds is a great teacher and keeps you amused through the whole class. If your having trouble paying attention though, Count how many times he says "Go Ahead". I do and on average in a fifty minute class he says it 50 Times.

Reynolds is very cool, funny & smart. His notes R avail. online, very helpful, current events (good examples) covered, good practice exams and homework. I would suggest more class interaction, more questions during lecture for students (only HE talks most of the time)... The BAD= bad language

Very cool teacher, 2 bad he doesn't really enjoy teaching at NIU (so he says =p!!). Makes boring topics fun, has funny stories about his life. His notes are online, always has EX Credit problem on HWK and EXAM (good!). Recommend as a teacher :)

He's hot, cool, and funny. His online lecture notes are awesome. He gives extra credits and bonus questions on exams. I actually learned something. He brings interesting outside materials that applies in real life.

Very intelligent. Best economics teacher I have had thus far. Moves a little fast, but all materials available online. Recommend him to anyone.

Excellent Professor. Wish there were more like him out there. Very down to earth. Goes the extra mile for all of us. Sure the notes are on line, but don't take it for granted, you still need to study a lot and go to class.

Jeff's cool, but definately goes pretty fast; Shark Sandwich rocks. Come to class, and your grade wil reflect it. Online notes are useful to follow along with in class.

one of the best profs ive had at niu. very easy going and def knows his stuff, which makes learning much easier. relates concepts to real life very well. lots of extra credit avail if u take advantage of it. still need to study hard, but go to class and pay attention and you will be fine.

Top quality instructor and lecturer (upbeat & occasionally funny). Moves through material FAST. Has a good personal web site containing lecture notes and other course materials. Responsive to e-mail and questions. Take Reynolds for any ECON course you can, you won't regret it.

Jeff is the cooooolest!

This was my best Econ class. He made the material very interesting. Kept you interested in the material. He was also a very entertaining teacher. He was/still is someone you can talk to very easily about anything! I recommend any of his classes especially Econ 310

Jeff is cool AND hot at the same time. I guess that makes him tepid.

I hated ECON 260 that I feared having to take this class. Jeff made this class so interesting and had realistic expectations of everyone. His stories were great and he never made class a bore.

He makes this class fun and easy. He gives homework and practice exams that are similar to the actual exams. Make sure you go to class and take good notes. Everything you need he will tell you.

He was a really helpful teacher, let you use notecards on tests, practice exams are very similar to the actual tests. I was always late to his AM class, which hurt me...go to class and you'll learn, that's it. Also, go see his band play if you can, he's the next Neil Peart, I guess that makes that stats prof the next Getty Lee.

Jeff makes the class fun. It also pays to go to class. His class is not a blow off class, but can be passed if you put some work in.

I'm not saying do it, but you can skip a few classes to watch, as Reynolds would say "watch Oprah", and still pass AS LONG as you study the note, but you will lose out on the in class graphs that help a lot. Why skip class anyway, Reynolds makes it fun!

Econ is not my thing. At all. But Reynolds keeps me awake talking on tangents that really help to relate econ to everything. Good teacher, but you do have to work for your grade.

GO TO CLASS (if he is showing you this post on the first day of class, it is to get that point across, and it's true!!) Easy B, Hard A. His handwriting sucks, so sit in the first few rows. Best Prof. I've ever had... watching him lecture, flip through the WSJ, and make fun of markers that don't work (all at the same time) is a show in itself.

Awesome f***ing teacher. Open books quizzes, he gives you the lecture notes, keeps class very interesting and tests are only on the lecture notes so nothing suprises you. If you have to take Econ 261, take it with Reynolds.

Awesome Teacher! Really cares about the students and wants them to do well. GO to class and do the Myeconlab and you will do fine.

The best professor in the NIU class, very helpful notes and also gives extracredit too. If you are an econ major If anbody is required 300 and 400 electives subjects reynold teaches 300 labor,310 montary and 370E. TAKE ALL OF THEM. If You are brilliant you will get an A, Smart B and very poor in Studies C he will assure you that you won't get a D.

Very enthusiastic economics professor. He is fair and straightforward about what he expects from students. He really gets into the material he teaches. Reynolds makes the learning environment fun and manages to fit humorous anecdote into almost every lecuture. One of my favorite professors that I've had at NIU.

Hands down one of the best profs at NIU. Go to class, and you'll be ok...don't go to class, and you'll be screwed. Interesting lectures anyways, so it's actually worth going to even if it is at 8am

Jeff is a fantastic instructor. He is really into Economics and it shows. He is very willing to give you help when needed. You definately need to go to class, but that's because he lays it all out for you and makes everything clearer. One of the best at NIU, but certainly the best in Economics. I just wish I found him sooner.

He is very helpful and always has examples of all the concepts he covers.

Lecture notes are all online and he wants you to succeed. You don't really need the book because he's always there to answer questions. And HI CLASS!! I know he's going to show this to you!! :D

Reynolds is a great teacher. You just have to get a good understanding of the class in order to pass it. DONT DAYDREAM, stay focused. Reynolds keeps you focused, especially with his jokes!!!

Reynolds was like an umbrella...when it was drizzling he would help you but if it was a huge storm, your umbrella would turn inside out...wait that was supposed to be nice, I think it came out wrong. what i'm trying to say is he is an awesome professor and I would take his brain and put it in my head if I could.

You need to go to class, especially because of extra credit. If I did not receive the extra credit my grade would have been a C instead of a B.

Hmmm.. where to begin. I find this class really interesting, most people on here said it was boring. I guess the subject material is, but Reynolds makes it easy to understand, and he jokes and curses a lot, which takes your mind off wanting to count the wall tiles. Hope I get to take more classes with him.

Reynolds is the best!! All you have to do is go to class. Also do all the assignments and extra credit and you shouldn't have a problem getting a 'B' or even an 'A'.

Reynolds class whooped a llamas a$$ with a belt. He really knows how to rock it out. He is funnier than Bob Sagget which is a plus. Hes also cooler than Clyde Stubblefied drummin' for James and he gets loose like a screw turned to the left....also he has mad knowledge of economics and if ya dont know....know ya knooooww!

Great teacher, keeps material fun and interesting. He rambles sometimes, but it is usually funny. If you go to class and take the quizzes you should have no problems.

For the first 2 weeks I left every class laughing. After that not so much, but still worth attending class. Reynolds points out the main concepts that you will be tested on. Don't read the book, it is exactly the same as lecture notes. Take this class.

Great guy do not take for granted that he give very informational notes that you can miss class. And also it helps to use the book as reference to the note to further understand whats going on. A further note DO NOT ever walk in class after he starts talking and place homework down he will blow his top. He will take you down with his drum sticks

The best prof I've had!

He's about the best professor you could ask for to teach a class at 8 AM. His lectures are like coffee. He's funny and informative at the same time. He lets you use a 3x5 card on the exams and he offers a lot of extra credit opportunites, so he really wants people to pass his class. I got an A, and as long as you go to class, you'll get at least B.

go to his class and let me tell you why...this is the ONLY econ class where you'll find more than 2 girls out of 45 kids. you cannot rely only on jeffs notes...doesn't have graphs etc...so if you don't go to class they wont make sense at all. diff exam from person sittin next to u..can't cheat.

Go to class. He will not only wow you with his superior knowledge of economics, but he will entertain you with stories of too many ginger snaps or the merits/demerits of olive oil and whiskey drinking. Probably the best professor I've had in my college career.

Reynolds Rocks my socks. He is the best Professor out there. Although, this class was the most difficult class I have ever taken, Reynolds was always there to help you. Going to class was at times difficult ...so go to class, and it helped that he was easy on the eyes lol. He makes Econ fun, the way it should be. He also told great stories.

This guy just seems to get it. He finds a way to relate to his students, and by doing so, he creates a learning environment helpful for many students. Know the material in the book because it does become very helpful in lectures. this class could be a life changing experience for some!

If you've done some 300-level work and maybe your Intermediate Micro/Macro, you've seen these problems- but they had been watered down enough for quick perusal. This class is an asset and should be a requirement in a Dept/Uni where professors are forced to hesitate over what level of maths they expose to undergraduates in lecture. A good time,too

Informative and Entertaining

Very entertaining class. He talks about the most random things. Class is not mandatory, but you night miss an extra credit opportunity. Tests are not easy. Just do the work, study, and you'll pass the class with a decent grade.

I do agree that Reynolds graded a little more harshly this semester than in the past. Though if you do all the work including extra credit, the worst grade possible is a C. There is no excuse for failing except extreme laziness. No other professor can put together a comedy act like Reynolds, and you are missing out if you don't take his class.

Great teacher, had him for macro as well. One of the best (and only) "understandable" teacher from the ECON dept. Got me into economics. If you come every day, take notes, and do all the homework it's a easy B, tougher for an A. Don't take this class if you aren't interested.

GREAT TEACHER!!! Going to class is important, and he explains economics in a way that everyone can understand! He is also very compassionate about his work and one of the nicest most down to earth professors at NIU. If you need help dont be afraid to ask him, he even let me take an exam late because i had a CRAZY semsester....he wants you to pass!

AWESOME PROFESSOR! Makes subject of Monetary Policy easy to understand and interesting. Dr. Reynolds is passionate about subject and injects humor into his lectures. Highly recommend any of his Econ classes.
