I had Dr. Richardsom for both Natural Science 101 and Geology 101. This man is a wonder to his field of teaching and anyone who has a chance to take his class should. You will not be disappointed. He makes the class interesting and really knows what he is talking about!!! Love this guy.

Richardson is awesome. I am a girl, not at all interested in geology or anything science-y, but he was SO nice and even though he gets way into this stuff, pretty tough, but real helpful and so much fun. Plus I gave like the sweetest presentation on the Andes Mnts... :)

This was a fun class. He teaches the material very well but keeps it interesting by being laid back and talking about everyday stuff. Tests are very fair, challenging but testing your knowledge well. My advice: take good notes...ANYTHING from your notes could be on a test. I learned a lot but never felt it was too hard.

Great teacher. If you have to take this class take it from this teach.

Easy to follow, and very helpful. Makes class very fun and interesting, very easy to get extra points. However his best quality is his musical taste.

Richardson is the man and he knows his stuff. I wish all teachers were as funny as him. He doesn't take carp from anyone and he tells it how it is. Probably the best teacher at Columbus State even though he is a Steelers fan...

Dr. Richardson is a whitty smart*** guy. He pretty much realizes that his students would rather not be analyzing rocks, and has a very laid back attitude. Very easy class. He's HOT too, but I guess he's married now! Ohh well.

He's also a geologists who actually will determine and specify certain rocks in his other career. He's really laid back and a fun teacher.

He is very sarcastic, so you cannot be thin skinned to take this class. He is a good prof., but you have to be in class and you have to pay attention to everything he says-because details you may believe are not important will be on the test!

So very good! His name is on the school's lab manual, right next to "Ph.D". I love the sciences, so I'm really critical of professors of the sciences, and he definitely passes. My only complaint is that he is very detail oriented. More definitions than explanations. Overall, amazing! I'm taking 121 from him next Qtr and I'm thrilled about it!

Jeff is great. I took this class as a hybrid so we only met once a week for a lab. We always got out early and he used a lot of visuals to explain. This class was both fun and interesting. Highly recommended.

He can tell most student don't care about the topic and he adjusts the class for us. Very helpful, good at answering questions. Throws some pretty good jokes around. take him!

good teacher, pretty funny guy but must attend class to get a good grade...tests are somewhat hard but not to bad if u study and lab is really easy. u do them in groups. its 3 tests and a final. good classs

Dr. Richardson is an incredible teacher. Like others have said, he recognizes that people take his class because they have to not because of their interest in rocks, but he makes it fun and entertaining. His tests can be challenging, but take great notes, study hard for his tests and you'll do great! AWESOME teacher!

Good teacher, and funny... Highy recommended for those who have no interset in geology at all...He makes it fun, and explains things clearly. Midterm was hard, but exam was fair.

Great professor. Doesn't assign a lot of busy work and yet, makes sure you know what you have to in order to succeed.

Had him for 121 & 122, and I loved every minute of it. Dr J gets it; he's fun, he's laid back, but he makes sure you learn something. Great teaching style/method, great guy overall. Honestly, best teacher I've ever had. Class is not easy, but it's not hard; give an honest effort and you'll be fine.

Hands down, best professor at CSCC. He is f@$#ing hilarious, yet very helpful. He took the time to explain confusing concepts in detail. I really had no interest in geology prior to his class, but he made it fun. I always left his classes in a better mood than when I came in. Awesome. Thanks Dr. JGR!

Dr. JGR is a wonderful teacher. He is prompt with posting grades and sends frequent emails and blackboard messages. Kept class interesting and fun. I wouldn't say the tests were easy, but he certainly gave all the material for them in the lectures. Labs were great because he would answer questions during them. Recommended :) :)

Dr. Richardson is the absolute bets professor at CSCC. He is funny, passionate about his topic, and extremely helpful. I was actually disappointed on days that class was canceled, I enjoyed going that much. Whether this class is a requirement, or you need an elective, take Geology 101 with Dr. Richardson. He's amazing.

I concur with the other reviews here. Dr. Richardson is smart, engaging and helpful. He has good lectures but also leaves room for class discussion so the class never gets boring. I highly recommend Dr. Richardson. I look forward to possibly taking more of his classes

I may be the first to ever say this, but very difficult. Geology 101 or 1101 in semesters, it is very hard to study for his tests, because the majority of it is things that he never writes down, just expects you to remember. He's very funny and all of that, but for me, this class was nearly impossible, although other people got an A.

The BEST professor EVER! He's fun, knows his stuff of the top of his head. Test are straight forward and the labs are very easy too as long as you are in good group and ask questions. Just be on time and attend all classes. I always looked forward to this class. If you want to have easy and stress free semester, this Dr. Jeffrey R. Good luck.

Best prof at Columbus State it made going to an 8 a.m. class the easiest it's ever been for me. Tests are a little hard but not to bad if you study for them. I reccomend him to anyone

A very intelligent professor with good presentation. Tests are not easy; I would recommend studying your notes daily until you know the info by rote if you want to ace them. As a class we did not use the textbook once, but it did help me to peruse the chapters before going to lecture.

I took his GEOL 1101, Intro to Earth Sciences course this semester. Jeff is a great guy; great sense of humor and knows the material well. While he ca be a little disorganized at times, he makes the class and material really fun. Exams are all easy; Labs can be difficult but you get to do them as a group. Great Professor!

Great teacher. One of the most engaging I've ever had. I took this course as a hybrid and there's a lot of information, but he is very clear about what will be on the tests, so study and you'll be fine. Honestly, one of the raddest teachers I've ever had.

Best class I have ever taken at CSCC Dr. Richardson is the best prof ever and he cares about his students as well I enjoyed going to every lecture and lab as some of the material was interesting the labs are easy to as you get to work with other classmates. Highly recommend this professor.

I took this class Hybrid and went in only for labs. There were a handful of labs and 2 exams plus a final. It was a fairly easy class and I recommend the Hybrid course. Dr. Richardson is a great professor! He has a great personality and is willing to help you in whatever you need. I highly recommend this professor! He's awesome!

I took this class as a hybrid and it was not a hard class, but he did go through the information really fast. Sometimes I felt like he wouldn't give anyone much of a chance to ask questions. However, if you pay attention in class, you'll notice that he actually gives a lot of the answers that you need. Also, the lab book is a MUST!

Did not even open the textbook once. The lab workbook is needed though. He provides PowerPoint slides with all his lecture notes. Such an easy and fun class and I hate science. Highly recommended.

Pay attention and take notes. Overall the class was easy. Book wasn't used much but was helpful when following along with the notes. Labs were easy since you could work in a group. Just pay attention to details and you will do fine. Tests are easy as long as you pay attention and know the definitions & places. There was a section of both on tests.

Professor Richardson is hilarious and really knows how to get and keep the attention of the class. It is a lot of information to take in, especially if you aren't familiar with geology, but as long as you're willing to put the work in and study, it's not too difficult!

Amazing teacher! Prof Richardson is hilarious and his lectures are interesting to say the least. Exams are based off of the lecture notes, and I barely used the textbook. Save yourself the money, and just buy the lab notebook!

Geology (or any science) was NOT something I was remotely interested in taking, but I need 2 science classes, 1 with a lab. I chose this class based on the time/day. To my surprise, he made it quite interesting, I learned a lot and not once did I dread going to class. I wish he taught more classes so that I could take my other science with him.

DrJGR is a fun teacher. His lectures are far from boring and are very informative. The book is hardly needed since he is so through with his lectures. Be prepared for lots of class participation but don't fret if you don't have the answer he will help you out without making you feel inadequate . He's easy on the eyes & a class I'd take again.

Dr. RIchardson is one of the best professors I've had. His lectures are super interesting. Notes are pretty mandatory although slides are posted online that cover what he goes over in class. Tests were a little harder than expected but he answers any questions. Genuinely wants to see his students do well. I wish I could take him again!

Mr. Richardson is by far the best professor that I have had to date. He truly cares about the students, and ensuring that we pass, he takes a somewhat boring class and ensures you have a good laugh multiple times throughtout class while learning something new. Dr. Richardson is a great professor. He makes the material interesting and is easy to approach with any questions. He is hilarious. This class was not overly difficult but you must do the work. Take any course by this professor. You won't be disappointed.

Dr. Richardson makes sure to include everyone in the class. The geology class is very easy-going and engaging. He can make something that seems extremely boring into something very interesting. In addition, he answers emails very promptly. His exams can be a little tricky, but overall, I enjoyed taking his class!

While I'd never take a blended course again, that's hardly Mr. Richardson's fault and outside of a shortened semester, the class has been interesting.

He is a super down to earth professor. You will have online homework every week, but if you read the notes you will not having any problems with that. Miss a class? No problem he adds all the ppt notes on blackboard so you have all the information. tests are multiple choice, he provides a review. Study off that and you will pass no problem.

This class was very fun and easy, honestly, I should've done much better than I did, but it was an 8 am was the only downside. His humor kept me awake when I did make it to class though. You have to be there for lab days but can get by with missing a few lectures. Would like to take another one of his classes someday.

By far the easiest class I have taken since being in college. I took this course as a hybrid course. I loved showing up to class only for labs. Take really good notes. Whatever Professor Richardson says to write down because it might be on the test, listen and write it down! Not once did I read the book! Just pay attention in class! That's all.

I took this course summer '20 when all courses switch to online. Dr. Jeff is a very laid back professor, goes in depth with his lecture. He loves to get know his students so participation really matters in his class. There was weekly labs and homework, it does take him a couple days for him to get back to you via email but his class was very easy.

I regret buying online textbook for this class. I got through class fine w/o having the read it ONCE. Class is made up of weekly lectures and labs, online hw, and 3 exams. Just keep in mind Dr R does not accept late work so submit your work on time and you'll get a B at least. Dr R is really understanding & is willing to work with you individually.

He was a great professor. I was nervous about taking a science class but this professor made the material easy to comprehend. He wants you to succeed. He genuinely cares and if you show up for lectures (online Collaborate in my case) and do the packets. You'll pass. Great class. Natural disasters taken during covid. Live lectures but minimal participation. Hes a very good professor and very easy going and cares that you do well. He made the class interesting without throwing too much material at you. Works to get to know his students interests . Straightforward tests all from lectures. Book is on line from iTunes

I was worried about taking Geology after not taking a science class in so long but Professor Richardson was great! He made his expectations clear and was always willing to work with you if something came up. It's important to catch the lectures because sometimes thats the only way to catch a test question. Mostly used textbook while doing the HW

Attendance isn't mandatory but tests would be very hard w/o. As long as you study for exams this class is interesting and an easy A, just study!

you need to drop everything your doing rn and take natural disasters with professor richardson. i had a morning class and i LOOKED FORWARD TO IT! he made understanding the information super easy and was so fun to listen to. if your looking for an easy science credit this is definitely your class. i would totally take another class with him.

Dude is the definition of a chiller. Class is easy. He's a hilarious and super nice guy. I don't like science but his lectures were interesting and I learned a lot. Dude knows his rocks. Homework's and labs are super easy and he doesn't grade hard. I'd take him again in a heart beat!

This dude is chill asf, labs are easy, and he's super funny. Dude made coming to class to learn about rocks fun and worth while. Only issue is that the exams can get kinda specific about rocks and such with little heads up, but I also didn't study very in depth for that exam so it sounds like a me problem. Overall, take his classes.

DrJGR was awesome! He got to know every single person in his class individually. He always tied his lectures into things we would know personally, and it would make things click easier. All the notes are pre-written, and the labs are pretty easy too! However, the exams did tend to be a bit hard. He will also respond to your email within 5 minutes!

Professor Richardson is a super chill guy who makes the class really engaging. The lectures are interesting, and as long as you pay attention and do the homework, you're set for an easy A. Unstuck ai was super helpful for studying and preparing for the exams.

He is pretty chill, provides notes and informational videos on class topics, and his lectures are engaging, you kinda need to know what is going on before going to class because he will be calling names! It is content heavy but if you pay attention to classes and use the notes provided you can get a solid A (of course you have to do homework too!)

He's funny and relaxed yet still very knowledgeable. He clearly loves science, geology, and geography. The weekly disaster journals were a nice opportunity for fluff points to combat tests and quizzes, so just do them and turn them in on time. I enjoyed the class overall. He does the popcorn system so everyone is included.

The way he teaches engages students and helps everyone learn, while also letting us get to know each other. He's super chill with people working as a group and staying a little late after the class ended. He makes friendly jokes. Take this prof!!!!
