very cool guy! its an interesting subject and he makes it interesting as well.
If you cannot pass this class, you shouldn't be in college. His class is pretty boring, but all his tests are graded on a major curve. The only work you really have to do is one paper, besides that, it's a pretty easy class.
he could pep up his lectures a bit i thought the subject was super interesting but he sounds like ben stine. He hads about 20-30 points to everyones test scores, if you cant pass this class you are taking oxygen from people who really deserve it. i foun
Ok... he talks like he is telling a story all the time and he answers his own questions.. a total nap class... but he is cool.. no real complaints... Just be ready for Ben Stein-- "Bueller. Bueller. Bueller. Bueller. Bueller. Bueller."

IT'S SUCH AN EASY CLASS, AND HE'S A COOL GUY.
Great class! A really interesting man. I think the thing that makes his class is that he has actually visited most of the places we learn about in class. He also is very caring and made me want to learn the material.
OMG taking his classes is like experiencing an Indiana Jones Adventure. He really knows how to keep his class on the end of their seats. His lectures of full of pictures and crazy stories.
like a cross between Orson Welles and Marlon Brando.

This guy is so great. He is adventurous and yet witty. He reminds me of a wise Indian chief. He is very articulate in different cultures and he looks like a cross between Marlon Brando and Ho Hogan.
Mr Rigby is the best teacher that you would ever met and he is not boring, in fact he is very intresting and loves to teach Anthro. He cares so much about his students and he always wants everyone to come out a winner in all his classes. I gurantee that you will not regret taking Mr rigby. He is a very excellent man and he cares about learning.
very nice, tells cool stories, just take notes and use the study guide and you'll be fine :)
He is those type of teachers that get into the subject they teach. He has a million stories about his trips around the world and his experience with the different cultures and people that live on this here planet. He's easy in that you just have to take notes and read the book-a study guide is provided.
Super super easy!!!!!!

Easy Class!!! Mr. Rigby very passionate about the class. His tests are extremely difficult but he adds curve points, which i would say over compensates the students. Study a lil bit and you will ace every test. Only real work in this class is the research paper, but he is lenient just do it and you'll be fine. Great teacher!!!
Passionate, nice, and intelligent. He's laid back but when you first see him, he looks mean...but he's the total opposite. He's been everywhere and when he lectures about the places he's been to, he shows you pictures. Such a great professor.
If u don't wanna study, and get B or C in class, and study a little and get A in class, just take him. The best grading teacher in the world, so easy, Infact, you can not find easier teacher than him in your life, trust me.
Rigby's lectures are boring, yet he is an interesting guy. Voice is monotnous but he is very cool. He is so easy though, I received an A and hardly read. I hardly went to class either esp. since it was at 6:30am! Shows videos in his classes. Also had him for ANTH 115, turned in the essay late but still got an A. Just know the basics.
Great proffessor highly recomend, Easy A!!
He's a pretty cool guy. His tests are EXTREMELY difficult, but he adds a huge amount of points to every test. I am not going to lie, I studied very little for this class, but I got an A on the term paper and passed with a B. Be warned, he does tend to rant about religion quite a bit (though he says he has the utmost respect for it).
HE ROCKS
Mr.Rigsby is an all around great professor,in fact,he's my favorite professor! His stories from his trips around the world make the lectures interesting to hear. Not boring at all, only if you're just there to slack off but if you get involved it's great.Pay attention in class, read the chapters and you'll be fine.
always brought humor into his lectures!
This teacher is very very easy.. the best part about him teaching cul. anth is that he has experienced the world of different tribes which makes his lectures sometimes very interesting..Also he gives you a study guide for each test the 1st day of class so its gives u plenty of time to prepare..
Rigby is hilarious, he has a crazy monotone voice like if your watching the discovery channel and he has amazing stories and artifacts all over his class, his test were easy, just simply do the study guide and you'll pass, I did with an A.
He was cool!!!
He is a cool teacher in the sense that he drops one of your lowest quiz scores, repeats himself to clarify things, and occasionally tries to be funny. He can have a monotone voice, but he isn't necessarily boring. He shows video clips and uses MS Powerpoint for his lectures and offers an out-of-country trip to expand your world of Anthropology.
Took 2 of his anth classes 100 and 115 easy teacher. for 100 you dont need the book just pay attention to lectures. For both classes he gives HUGE curve points. Very lenient. Lots of Extra Credit. All he really wants is to give his students good grades so they can be motivated to persue education. Definitely recommend if you want that EASY EASY "A"
When I came to class on the first day I thought he was Hulk Hogan. He was a great professor. His tests were easy and his lectures were ok since he had lots of stuff from all his travels to show the class.
Mr Rigby really knows his stuff, he uses most of his material from videoclips, 'n he gives u many chances 2 do extra credit, he also drops ur lowest test score... he's really nice but don't take advantage of him...
Mr. Rigby brings anthropology to life. He describes everything with such great detail as if you were right there experiencing all of his journeys as an adult and a child with him. Very dedicated to his field!!!
amazingly great teacher, knows what he's talking about, makes you love the dobe and the yanamamo people, teaches perfect and has years of experience in what he does. ;D
Easiest A i have ever EVER had...great instructor, grades on the biggest curve The only advice i give you dont take him at 8 am.. read the book for study guides, it'll make it alot easier because they are the exact questions used on the exam. If you want a challenge..dont take him cause it's the easiest class ever!!!
he is a very excellent teacher. he makes the class intresting. if you take notes and pay attention you will do good in the class. also, he understands how hard it was to be student thats why he grades on a curve.
very difficult subject although dr. rigby is very helpful and passionate he understands what its like to be a student unlike most teachers. Hes very committed to learning fundamentals and is a great professor. people bash on how easy his class is which is childish but as long as you read the book youll do well on the tests.
Rigby's class was a bit on the boring side but it gives you time to sleep. I would definitely take him again. He's a funny person, very passionate about anthro, grades on a curve, and is very lenient if you need to rearrange tests. If you don't understand something he'll explain it thoroughly too. He also gives tons of extra credit assignments.
don't think professor rigby's class will be an easy A. despite grading exams on a curve, several students still fail. you MUST read the textbook and pay attention to his lecture!! this is especially important for the 12+ page paper required for this course. great professor by the way!
Very Easy Teacher. I would Really reccommend to take him. All of his classes are based on exams only. That is really cool. Just pay attention to his everyday lecture thats it. Very easy A. And plus ask him as much extra credit as you can. He will give you.
Prof. Rigby is a Great teacher! You should attend every class. If you study your notes, study guide and read the textbook you'll be fine. I would definitely take another class and i learned a lot from him.
Interesting. Prof has firsthand experience and is a great story-teller. Nice, but you can't step on him. Tests are right off the study guides, which have info right out of the books and out of the lectures. You'll want to know the info out of curiosity and it will lead to success. ExCr is available in abundance.
Cool guy. If your into anthro youll love him...if not its an easy class just do the reading and pay attention. If you dont blow the class off youll probably get an A.
A lot of talking uses power point a lot shows videos/clips the study guides r not helpful the exams r very hard 1 self guided field trip 2 the LA Zoo this class is not easy extra credit is worth very little he sits down with his feet up while teaching he said something like he has feet problems or somethin like that he tells stories about his life
i took his 6:30 AM class and he was always like 15 minutes late. his power points are clear and what he doesnt include in them is covered in the book. you have to read 2 ethnographies on the side, which sucks, but the test is just the study guide re-worded. overall i learned alot
His class is super lay back. I would totally recommend this teacher. I also took his 6:30am class in he would also be full of energy. In addition, he brings his stories to tell to class.
THIS CLASS I REALLY LEARNED ALOT ABOUT MYSELF AND MY BACKGROUND. TAKE THIS CLASS. HE'S KINDA FUNNY AND HE IS REALLY REALLY EDUCATED IN HIS FIELD. TEST ARE KINDA HARD BUT HE GIVES LOTS AND LOTS OF EXTRA CREDIT. SO YOU'LL END UP W/ A c+ MINUMUM.
Rigby is one of the easier teachers at Cerritos. Most of the questions on the tests come directly from the study guides. I had him for Anth 100 also, and the same rule applied for that class. In 202, there were 3 tests and one research paper. He is not a hard grader and he will be the first to tell you. Highly recommend!
NO WAY TO FAIL. He adds like 20 points to the tests and even curves it. Very boring class but super easy. Only real work is his final assignment but not hard.
Very monoutone and boring that might put you to sleep. However, he is an easy teacher that adds a good amount of points on exams and then curves it. The only thing that sucks is a primate research paper that involves going to the LA zoo. He is lenient as long as you prove a good argument, I did it 3 days before it was due and I recieve 99/100.
I had to take his morning 6.30 class=boring. tests were easy though. all u need to do is read the study guide. oh yes, you get essays on each test too. i have no idea how he grades the essay. when i thought i did good, scores werent really that good.. and when i thought i messed up, i got good scores.. got a B overall, i was sure I'd get an A :(
So monotonous. 6 AM class is NOT recommended. his tests are easy, and he has a huge curve. super nice guy wonderful grading scale. just read and look over vocab. it's pretty easy.fun Videos every other day
GREAT CLASS I WOULD RECOMMEND IT TO EVERYONE WHO IS INTRESTED IN REIGION MAGIC AND WITCHCRAFT.
Easy class, read the book and if you do the the study guide... you'll make it pretty easy with the extra points.Boring at class.
Easy class, read the book and if you do the the study guide... you'll make it pretty easy with the extra points.Boring at class.
need the book and the current one class is super boring and the grade is based off the exams so do the study guide its from the book and its based off the exams
The great thing about Rigby's classes it that he has actually been to the places and people that learned about in class. Has suttle humor that makes class more enjoyable.
At first I didn't believe in evolution because I am a Christian. However, the teacher was very carefull about how he spoke about the subject. He made me want to listen. I have decided to become an Anthro major! A very fair grader and knew his stuff.
I have had all of Rigby's classes and in fact came to Cerritos from another school just to take his other classes. This class on Religion is great! You learn about voodoo, shamans, witchcraft, etc. Very cool! Powerpoints help to visualize what he talks about.
I came to Cerritos to take Professor Rigby's class because I had heard he had first hand experience in archaeology. I am sure glad I did. He basically took us all over the world and showed pictures of the most famous sites. He also showed pictures of his own excavations and brought in tools which were thousands of years old for us to see.
I have had all of his classes. Test are difficult but he is a fair grader. In the end you will get the grade you feel you deserve. I loved learning about the Olmecs, Maya, Aztecs etc. I don't think they offer this class at other community colleges so I was happy he had it.
Has five tests and drops lowest. Uses powerpoints to illustrate points. Found these were really good. The book was a little confusing and the lectures made it easy to understand.
Awesome class! Highly recommend this guy. Made me understand the difference in people world wide. He is a very fair grader and knows allot about the subject.
I learned so much about ancient cultures in this class I just don't know how to explain the impact this has had on my life. I see the ancient world now so differently.
Never thought I would like this stuff. I didn't even know what Anthropology was. After taking his class I am going to become an anthropologist.
Coolest class! Where else can you learn about Santeria, witchcraft and death rituals.
He had us take lots of notes. Felt like my fingers were going to fall off. But liked learning about the Maya, Aztec, etc. Got an "A"
Really something learning about Native Americans. My favorite people were the Hopi. He shared his encounters with all of the groups. That is what I liked best.
Casual laid back style and stories about adventures made this class a joy. Got an "A" in the class and enjoyed it.
Follow the studyguide and you will do well as Rigby takes you around the world and shares with you his personal experiences. A real eye opener even at 6:30 am!
My favorite part of this class was learning about the Egyptians.
Before I took this class I thought all Native Americans were the same. Now I know different.
This is a difficult class but he gives extra credit opportunities. Shows powerpoint slides with pictures from all over the world. My favorite class at Cerritos!
Took many notes in this class and loved the stories that the instructor told.
Took this class and learned about the Incas and Aztecs. Dr. Rigby had been to all the sites discussed in our book and could even tell you what university to attend for the professor digging there. Had to do a compare/contrast paper.
Well, I don't believe man came from a monkey, but Rigby convinced me to at least open my eyes to other possibilities as no other professor could.
This is one of the best professors i've had. He is so intetresting and very helpful. I got an A in his class. I strongly recomend him.
Cool class. Liked his layed back style. He knows his stuff. Know what is on the study guide and you will do well.
Didn't know how related all life forms are before this class. He makes you want to learn.
My favorite prof. Tests are sometimes difficult but he curves and that helps.
Really a great instructor. Just use his study guide and you will get the grade you earned.
Most interesting class on campus. Loved learning about the Yanamamo. Great that Professor Rigby actually visited them and could share his experiences.
California Rigby is what you should call this man. He has been to most of the sites discussed in class and actually was an archaeologist for hire before being a professor.
Made me want to learn this stuff. New nothing about anthropology before
My favorite class on campus.
Power in all places and all things. Power in the landscape..in the trees..in the bear..in the bushes. A different perspective on life than I had before.
Hands down, the greatest professor I've had of all time. If not, then the greatest man of all time. Filled with knowledge of mankind and is the reason why I became an Anthropology major.
I wish you taught every anthro class at Cerritos.
I can't believe that even his 6:30 am class is full with people sitting on the floor after four weeks. That I think says it all.
I actually followed him from a different school to take his class.
I see what you mean. I tried to get into his classes and they all fill within the first few days.
Rigby is a great guy. His class is pretty easy, but my favorite thing about him is that he is an actual anthropologist who used to do field work and he always shares fascinating stories about his journeys.
Had a class with the other woman that teaches anthropology and didn't understand hardly anything. The differece between the two is amazing. This guy is anthropology.
I love this class.
Great class!
I like the stories he tells. He has actually been to most of the places discussed in class.
Great teacher. Really enjoys anthropology and has tons of stories and pictures of his own. He gives you a study guide for every test that he gives. If you do the study guides you will pass the test. He also grades on a curve. Attendence is important because he does make you sign in everyday. However is VERY flexible with LATE attendence.
Honestly, I found the lectures to be a little boring. Most of what is on the lectures isn't even covered on the exams. However, he gives you a study guide at the beginning of the semester. THE TESTS COME STRAIGHT FROM THE GUIIDE. They're really easy. Plus, he curves & let's you retake the test if you did poorly. I made an A, and never took notes.
I say first off, great teacher. If you take his class and fail you need serious help. He explains and give student chance in numberous way to gain extra credit. Also is grading system is so much of an relieve, anyhow this teacher knows his work. Can't wait to go on a field trip..Thanx professor Rigdy
Does anyone know his email? I recieved an F and i got B's on all of his exams including the final. Im thinking this is a mistake he made perhaps, i just want to let him know.
Really a great instructor. Just use his study guide and you will get the grade you earned.
This will be the class I will never forget. It changed the way I see other people and myself. I have had all his classes even though I didn't need half of them. Hats off to you Rigby!
personally, I think professor rigby is a great teacher, he has more experience in his field of sudy than other teachers at cerritos, and the class is mindblowing, especially when you go high to his class. Honestly, who lives with the most remote tribes in the amazon? Hats off to you rigby!!
His class was like going on a long adventure! I think the thing that is so great about this guy is he has actually been to most of the places we read about in the book. Plus he is a nice guy who really tries to help you get through what are fairly difficult exams.
He must have improved a great deal since I had him. I liked him, but there was no student participation whatsoever and he just talked the whole time each lecture. I like that he was interested in his subject and the class was really easy with the bonus points and extra credit. This was way back in 94 or 95, though. I see he has gotten better!
Made me want to learn about primates and early man. I think I am going to change my major!
I took his class and found it extremely interesting. He does lecture from a PowerPoint and the notes are what you take. I never used my notes I studied from the textbook and study guide. His tests are curved which helped. Read the chapters and you will have a better understanding for the tests. One big paper at the end of the semester 8+ pages.
He was a good teacher, has lots of knowledge to share. U need to read the books he assigns to do well on the written portion of the exams, & study the study guides cause u will need to know as much as possible cause he puts other quests from the book. Gives lots of notes that are helpful for exams. Take him if u can, he gives LOTS of extra credit.
really interesting class! has a lot of personal experience and knowledge to share. three exams and a research paper. only complaint, he always sounded bored and like he would rather be somewhere else... but hey some people sound like that. will try to take as many waitlist/petitioners in as he can.
He was one of the best professors I have ever had. His lectures are very straight forward, he gives out test questions that are exactly from the study guide, and the extra books were all very interesting. Not only did I learn anthropology he also gives morals and things to do and not to do.He had so many stories to tell and they were all enjoyable.
Really nice guy, he is very helpful on the exams. The test are kind of difficult , but he uses a curve method which helps your test score a bit. Hes passionate about the subject and gives out alot of extra credit options.
I really enjoyed his class, it's awesome because you are learning about these cultures and we are not reading from the book as we go along he is telling us because he spent time with these ppl.You need the study guide complete it and the test is based of them. This teacher seems strict but he is really nice and funny.Took him during summer 2012
He is a great professor. His exams are easy because the study guide is exactly on the test. If my friends want to take Cultural Anthropology, this is the instructor they should take.
study guide is exactly how the test is has a tremendous about of experience in his field and has great stories from his trips highly recommend this class no papers no homework just go to class listen to lectures study the study guide and you'll be fine
Great Professor. loved his class. profesor with a lot of knowledge.has great stories & can be funny. test are ok if you study your study guide & has extra credit opportunities. will definetly take another class with him.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Rigby!!! He's so knowledgeable and very interesting. He does speak in mono-tone but he's so funny and has great stories! Must take him and experience his class before you leave cerritos!
If you do take this class, do not take the one at 6:30 in the morning, you will have trouble staying awake. Some days are pretty pointless where he shows videos and such, but most days you just show up and take notes, its not much difficult than high school biology
He really knows the stuff and has a lot of experience in his field He has been to many places mentioned in the book and shares interesting stories from his trips abroad Tests are hard since you need to study a lot of terms but he uses a grading curve which makes life easier Show up to class take notes and study your study guide for the exams
This professor is great! Easy A just make sure to read the book. The study guide might help but the exams are really all from the book! also work on the term paper as soon as possible its not that hard to do.
This professor is great! Easy A just make sure to read the book. The study guide might help but the exams are really all from the book remember locations and dates! also work on the term paper as soon as possible its not that hard to do.
teacher easy grade gives you study guide first day of class. Test is exactly like study guide couldn't ask for a better teacher taking his class this coming semester
excellent professor!!
funny and awesome but his tests could be really hard if you don't study. He makes me want to travel and learn everything about insects and primates. Listen to his stories sometime he'll take an extra 3 minutes over the class time but it's usually helpful or he's just telling a hilarious story if his. I'm a microbiology major this class helps
Zero assignments, 3 tests. That's it! He gives out study guides for the tests. The study guides have exactly what will be on the test. There's no way you will fail if you just study. He's also an easy grader and gave the whole class extra points on each test. Just take notes. I had this class at 6:30 AM and I got A+. If I can do it, anyone can.
There will be 3 EXAMS total, no homework. Study guides are handed along with syllabus. However, the Q's are not exactly the same as the exams. You do not really need to get any of the books. Just take good notes from his lectures. He grade curves. Pretty easy laid back class. He's strict about attendance though.
3 EXAMS. Study guides are not exactly like the exams but similar. He hands out study guides in the beginning of semester, so you do have enough time to fill them out. 50 Multiple choice Q's plus a page essay for each exam, sometimes tough. However he grades on a curve. No Homework. Do not need books. Strict about attendance. Take good notes.
The cultural class is very easy to pass. He gives out a study guide on the first day, and everything on that study is on the test. no HW, only tests. All multiple choice and an essay question. The essay question is on the study guide. His lectures are on the tests as well. Take notes! Only 3 tests throughout out the semester.
Really nice, very interesting. If you don't read the book make sure to pay attention in class. The paper is the toughest part.
Incredibly easy class; this guy curves tests like no other. All he wants is your success in college. You will find most of the things he lectures about to be interesting. You bring food the last day of class for everyone to share. This class is great. Extremely laid back. You can find the study guide answers online with quizlet so no need for tb.
I probably missed class about six or seven times regardless of that I still passed with a high A. It is vital for you to read the chapters or else you will fail the exams! Aside from that he curves the exams which is AWESOME. The research paper is a piece of cake, nothing to worry about. An easy A if you do what is expected of you!
I don't think I even knew what anthropology was before this class. This guy makes it so interesting that I am going to change my major.
Prof Rigby does have a monotoe voice, I didn't really mind it though. He gets off topic sometimes but that's the interesting part of class. He has done a lot of stuff in his life and his stories are cool. The tests are very hard if you didn't memorize everything but he does curve it and sometimes has a study guide.
Truthfully, I have had Professor Rigby for all of my core Anthropology classes: 100, 115, 203, 120. On the exams there are little things that you forget. Do the extra credit early. Anth Club goes to a lot of the places for the extra credit. Do the reading and get a started on the paper as soon as you get the prompt. It will sneak up on you.
Professor Rigby is makes Anthropology very interesting. You can tell he lectures from his own experience in the field and is passionate about the subject. The tests are difficult but he does give extremely generous curves. The only complaint I have is the zoo trip for your paper, I wish I didn't have to drive all the way to LA and pay 20 bucks.
Professor Rigby is such an amazing professor not to mention his lectures. I love how he teaches Anthropology with passion, as he experienced and have gone to almost everything that he teaches. Also, he gives extra credit and curves the exams. However, you should still work to get an A.
nice teacher
He's really passionate about what he does, and he had many interesting stories to tell from his travels all over the world. Three tests. That's it. The tests are really easy; he gives you a study guide and the exact essay questions. Just memorize the study guide and you'll be fine. If not, there's loads of extra credit you could do.
He is a great teacher you will love this class. He is very passionate about anthropology and his work. He gives extra credit and is very funny at times.
He is really easy and interesting!!! No homework! No assignments!! Only 3 tests and for that you have study guide!!! Don't need to buy books!! Would take hime again!!
This is my third time taking an anthropology course with Professor Rigby. Other anthropology courses have included ANTH 200 and ANTH 203. Easy exams, easy essays, no homework, and grades on a tremendous curve. You cannot fail this course. He is an amazing professor. His Physical Anthropology class is by far the most interesting.
Rigby was a great professor for students who don't mind sitting and taking long notes (aka. me). He has some really cool stories too but be prepared to write... A LOT. He grades his tests on a curve so they're really easy to pass if you actually study the guide he provides. He provides opportunities to do lots of extra credit too!
He is the easiest professor in Cerritos college!! There are only three exams in his class and you have study guide for it! Also you can find the answers online! If I had to take more anthro classes....I would definitely take him!!!!!
Really easy class, just do the study guides and you will be fine. Really interesting stories of all the various places he has been. Be careful when looking up answers for the study guide, some answers are wrong. Multiple choice and short answer tests. Gives majority of info you'll need for the short answers so the books are not necessary, mostly.
This is my second anthropology class that I have taken with Rigby. There are only 5 exams, he drops the lowest exam. You must by the book, the exam materials are from the book. And there is only 1 paper, it's just to go to the zoo and observe primates. He curves the exam big time. It's very easy to pass his class.
He's passionate about teaching anthropology and is always willing to help you out. He has you write a paper at the end of the year and his exams are little bit hard but if you follow the study guide and keep up with the reading you will pass. Great teacher.
Quite knowledgeable in the field of anthropology. Always gave great examples and thoroughly explained the chapters. His lectures are lengthy even though 50% of his lectures are not on the exam, but that shows that he really does care that the students should learn more about the subject. As you know, his tests are curved massively (but the final)
Professor Rigby has so much knowledge and loves what he does. He has interesting stories about the places he has been what crazy things he has seen throughout his life. His class is straightforward and it consist of exams and questions around a paragraph long. Really easy just study. His class is a must for college.
Great teacher, and very intelligent! His stories are fun to listen to and he is so kind. Be ready to take lots of notes and make sure you take notes because they are on the test. Exams are simple multiple choice and questions and answers at the end. He also curves the test.
He is very knowledgeable and has many stories to tell which make learning about tribal people more fun. He has traveled the world and has been working in anthropology for a long time so I really repect him. Very understanding and helpful if you have any questions. Not many tests but make sure you read the textbook. Overall my favorite class 14/10
Great professor! Best part, NO homework at all! He is very easygoing and there should be no reason not to pass this class!
I really enjoyed his Anthro 100 course. It was pretty laid back. We would take notes during class, and many times he would share his personal experiences visiting many of the tribes he talks about. His tests are easy if you will spend at least one hour to study. Would take him again for sure.
Really awesome professor! I would definitely take him again! He's really funny, and tries his best to help you pass. If you don't pass his class, you just didn't even try. Offers a lot of extra credit too!
Rigby is an amazing professor! Class is based on 3 tests which he gives you the study guides for at the beginning of the semester. You do have to do a bit of reading for the study guides but it's not much. He curved our test grades up by 2 letter grades so you'd actually have to try to fail his class
Professor Rigby is awesome the class is hard but he makes it easy to pass with curving the tests,he shows related movies to the lectures each class which makes it easy to understand. He is an easy going and cool person and won't give hard time to students lots of extra credits. If you need an Anthro. class take him, you will pass it, he is awesome.
Professor Rigby is very knowledgeable and loves Anthropology. He is a great professor and dos't give hard time to his students. He gives lots of extra credits and makes the hard class easy to pass with curving the tests. Anthropology 101 is a hard class and lots of terms to learn, but he will help you to make the class fun and easy to learn.
He is a very nice person. He loves Anthropology and likes to teach it to his students. He will help his students to learn and pass the class. Class is hard but with him it's not hard to pass, since he curves the tests. Extra credits make a big difference in your grade if you are behind. Take him if you need an Anthropology class. Great Professor.
Didn't do much on my phone the whole time just do good on the test and you'll do fine, but sometime boring
He's a really easy teacher to be honest. There are 3 tests that count for your whole grade but he gives you a study guide which literally has the questions of the test on it if you take the time to fill it out. Then he gives extra credit which is really easy to do and you can get a lot of points that you messed up on one test back!
He's very boring, but extremely lenient. You can show up sign in and do work for other classes. Notes didn't help when it came to the exams so I stopped writing notes down. I passed the class with a B by taking the quizzes available through the norton link on his syllabus, he also curves the exams. One 8-12 page term paper. Use the book in the lbry
One of the best classes I ever had at Cerritos College. I have decided to change my major to Anthropology
Prof Rigby is one of my favorite professors I've had. His lectures are all so interesting, they almost feel more like story time because of how he talks of his past expiriences traveling the world. His power points are also filled with amazing pictures, facts and just cool things I otherwise never would have known. Overall, I definetly recommend.
He is really easy. His curves are unbelievable! literally got 100 percents for every test because of his curves. He is funny and very chill. Sometimes he would put a video on for the whole class period. He has pictures of his journeys. very cool professor.
Easy Professor you don't need to put much effort in besides doing the study guide and you're basically guaranteed a pass. Class is very boring. You get extra credit on the tests which puts up your grade by about 2 and a half letter grades for the test. If you want an east A with no effort then take this class.
I took him for Anthro115 lecture and he is a real easy grader! He curves every exam and drops the lowest! He does make you do a 12 page term paper and if you dont do it your grade drops two letters. You also have to go to the zoo and take notes but it is fun. He is easy going
Professor Rigby is awesome! He's a really funny guy if you actually pay attention to his lectures. His tests are curved and he'll give you any feedback if you ask him. Really friendly guy. Class grades consists of almost only tests and one research paper that is really not very hard to write if you put a little time into it. Good class!
He has the best stories from his travels around the world. I've learned a lot from his class. I'd say make friends in the class because you never know what you might need help with. Attendance mandatory, lots of quizlet help and they're online already! Buy the textbook, but you can find other books online. Youll watch a lot of videos in class.
Easy class! Just gotta study the textbook!
No homework, 4 exams, drops lowest one. Exams are curved! 15+ points added to every exam. Lowest score I got was 106/100 on an exam. Textbook is needed since all exam questions come straight out of the textbook. Offers extra credit. If you don't pass, its because you didn't read. Big paper due at end of semester. start on it ahead of time.
There's 5 exams and a paper. He drops the lowest score of the first 4 exams. There are extra credit opportunities.
Great professor with a lot of experience. Has a lot of interesting stories from his trips that tie into the material. A fun class but you do need to study. Inquizitive and flash cards will go a long way. 5 Tests and 1 Term paper. Drops lowest exam score. Would recommend if you need an anthro class.
if you study, he will make sure you do well. term assignment is kinda hell but you have all term to do it.
Excellent teacher, willing to help; if you are one to inquire about the lecture you should take him. Has interesting and fun stories that tie in with his lecture. Very intelligent person. Would definitely take him again.
I learned many things regarding cultural anthropology in this class. It made my major more interesting that I thought it was. Professor Rigby is a great teacher not just because he knows how to make the class interesting, but also because he is an open-minded person. I will definitely take another class
Prof. Rigby is a good and chill professor and he is willing to help you so that you can pass the class. NO HOMEWORK. BUY THE BOOK and READ IT. All tests questions come from the reading. Also, take advantage of the inquisitive (online practice questions) it helps a lot. Class also includes a trip to the LA Zoo and one research paper (it's easy).
Professor Rigby is excellent. 6-wk summer, grading was very clear: 3 tests, 100 pts ea. No HW aside from reading; tests were based on lecture notes/reading, which he provides a study guide for. Take notes, do the guide & you'll pass, easily. Plus he grades on a curve, which is really helpful for everyone. Lots of extra credit offered. Great class!
He is a great profesor. I really enjoyed his class and even considering changing majors becasue of him. his lectures cover just about everything you need to know about his class so pay attention there. highly recomend him to anyone.
Excellent Professor, very passionate in his lecture. A very understanding person, communication is important for him, if anything the professor is more than willing to resolve any situation with you, and give you options. Enchanted and happy to have taken his class, very much satisfied.
I have never liked Anthropology before. However, this teacher is really good. He makes his classes very interesting in a way no other teacher approaches Anthro. If taking Anthro I recommend taking this professor. Very good feedback and grade boosts for exam scores and gives good weighted projects.
Made anthropology super easy to understand, is clear on what he's gonna test on. yo can tell he loves what he's doing and is super passionate about his teachings.
If you can stay awake in his class you can absolutely pass. His lectures are monotone, however if you listen and take notes you will pass the exams. He also grades on a curve.
Has a really monotoned voice, but if you can stay awake during lecture you'll be fine. Majority of the questions come from the texbook and I was able to get away with not reading and still have a good grade, although that doesn't apply to everyone. Grades on a heavy curve, C's become A's. Just remember to watch your pacing on the term paper.
really great professor. very knowledgeable and has had tons of field experience. great grader and very fair
Professor Rigby's class was challenging but he graded reasonably. Throughout his lectures, he would incorporate what he had found during his time on the field to clarify the materials we were learning. Be sure to take advantage of his office hours, if you need help. Make sure you take a look at the study guide before the test, it helps!
Professor Rigby is a fantastic teacher. His lectures are always very interesting and he has many great and funny stories. However, you need to make sure you do the work your tasked with. If you pay attention in the lectures and take good notes, do the chapter questions, and prepare for the short answer, you will easily get an A in his class.
Rigby is a great professor that has amazing lectures and even better stories that compliment the lecture. He is more than fair when It comes to grading. His tests are based on the reading so the book is definitely needed. All in all, I cant recommend Rigby enough, great professor.
You need the book and inquisitive acccess to do somewhat well on the tests. 4 tests and one final. Research paper where you have to go to la zoo and write about evolution. Curved every test, no homework, pretty easy class just make sure to study.
Professor Rigby is one of the best instructors I've taken at Cerritos College;he has his students best intrest at heart! If you're majoring in Anthro, or simply need to knock out one of your Science classes for your G.E. TAKE HIM!!You have 20points of extra credit, which I highly encourage everyone to take advantage of,No H.W. and 3Exams. Easy/fun(:
Professor Rigby gives so many opportunities to pass this class. There is a lot of possible extra credit and he only offers one assignment (min 7pg paper) for the whole semester. As long as you read the book and use the inquizitive tool to help you study for the exams there should be no reason for you to fail. Easy A class.
Such a great class. If you are taking this class I recommend taking prof. Rigby. It's not an easy subject but really interesting once you start listening. Prof. always has time to listen and answer questions. Also gives extra credit assignments.
The formula to passing his class: show up, write/type everything he tells you to get from his lectures, fill up study guide, and DO what he tells you to do when it comes to studying for his class. He has a lot of fun and interesting stories he likes to share but sometimes would go over the class time. Very good professor and person in general.
An interesting class indeed. If you are going to take Anthropology 115, I would highly suggest Professor Rigby.. The tests are difficult, but he curves the points by a lot. Reading the book and having access to the inquisitive tool will improve your chances of success in his class.
Honestly Proffeser Rigbys class is not hard. He makes the class fun and is a great proffeser. I took him for both Anthropology 115 and 100. Got As on both. 115 is more harder, but for 100 you dont even need the books. Just use quizlet and youll find the study guides. The smaller books Ill recommend getting just to make your essay answers good
Mr. Rigby is an incredible professor who is clearly passionate about anthropology. His lectures are so intriguing especially when he connects them with personal experiences , such as sight seeings. This course was surprisingly not difficult, I can only recommend to do the inquisitive to prepare for exams. One should definitely take his class!!
Professor Rigby clearly loves the subject and enjoys talking about it. Although his lectures use up the whole class time, he does not require any homework other then reading the assigned chapters. I did read and it helped me passed the class with an A; however, my gf also took his class and she didn't read and passed with B. Love his class!
Great professor. Great lectures. If its gonna be on the test, hell let you know. Funny too. Make sure you show up. Clear agenda; a few exams and a semester essay make up your grade, and he grades on a fair curve. Lots of extra credit and make-up opportunities. The content in Anth203 was very eye-opening and even inspiring, too. Recommended.
There 5 scantron test (50 questions) and lowest one gets the drop. The test are easy, and the tests are curved like 30 points because they come from the manufacturer. Just get inquisitive, and take the extra credit. Overall, his lecture are fun, and I learn alot from his class lecutre. An easy A if you do due dillegence
Professor J. Rigby lectures very interestingly. I enjoyed every classes. He is fair grader and nice to every students.
Your grade depends on 5 exams, the lowest of the first 4 gets dropped. Final cant be dropped! Curves exams so you will pass all exams. Inquisitive doesnt really help just read the book. If it is your major you will love. No study guide! He tells you exams will never be based on the lecture so during class I sugg. you read the long chapters.
I have taken Rigby twice! Do not regret taking him at all. 5 exams total which are all based ENTIRELY on the book, NOT on the lectures. Drops lowest exam score. He is VERY GENEROUS ON CURVE POINTS. The average curve points he gave us was around 35! Easy to pass as long as you do some studying, Inquisitive , and just memorize key term definitions.
A prof. who actually wants you to pass! Gives curve points on tests & drops lowest exam score. He helps understanding of the subject through his many travels, info, & pictures that are interesting. An open-minded individual who is really into his craft. The only thing I didnt like is that sometimes hed come late or leave class during a movie.
This is the first class I've taken where I feel like I've learned something beyond what I "had to". Professor Rigby livens every class with his personal stories about the places he's been, people he's met, and things he's seen. I've never had a teacher who's been so connect and passionate about their field. I'll miss his stories every morning!
Professor Rigby is an amazing professor. Recommend you to take any of his classes ( physical anthropology, cultural, Native America, archaeology and others ). I have truly enjoy his lectures and his input of his own experiences. Truly inspirational all the work he has done. Take his class you wont regret it!
Took Anthropology 100, and its been one of the most interesting classes Ive taken so far. Professor Rigby is the best! His lectures are never boring, and he always offers extra credit! Easy class, just follow the study guide before tests!
Professor Rigby is very clear in his lecture's and if you take good notes, as well as read the material, you will pass the class. His class is an easy A, if you put your part. You lose class points every time you miss a class, and if you'r'e late you receive half a point for the day.
an inspiring teacher who is passionate about his major. His personal stories bring the lectures to live and makes you want to travel the world. Didn't think I would enjoy taking anthro, but with this guy it was a pleasure. Easy A if you read the textbook and pay attention to lecture. Must go to the zoo! lots of extra crredit.
Rigby is such a passionate and knowledgeable professor. He is quite the character and tells some pretty good stories. He curves EVERYTHING and offers so much extra credit! All the tests are based on the book and he passes out an attendance sheet at the start of each class. I would definitely take him again.
Rigby's class is very straightforward and relatively easy as long as you pay attention to lectures and read the required material. He's been all over the world and often discusses his personal experiences when they relate with the lecture. Study guides for all 3 exams available. No homework, grade based on tests, but he offers lots of extra credit
What an amazing professor. He has traveled to so many places around the world so his lectures really come alive. You can tell he wants his students to learn and pass. You do have read to understand the course material and to pass his exams. Overall wonderful class, I would definitely recommend to anyone.
Rigbys class is worth. Hes traveled the world since he was a boy. Hes a man with plenty of experience in Anthro. Primate essay was very informative and you will pass the test as long as you read the chapter and use inquisitive
This was my 3rd time with Prof. Rigby (general ed requirements). This was my physical science credit. This was his most difficult class only because of the content (scientific name heavy). However, lecture and reading the book is a must. Primate Project was easy just invest some time. Lots of extra credit available, and grades on a generous curve.
Easy A, there is a huge curve for each test. All you have to do is read the Chapters assigned for the test and study the key terms and concepts. The curve is a huge help. There was one test where I get 77% of the questions right but ended up with an overall 107% on the test.
Professor Rigby is a great professor, although he doesn't use his lectures for the exams (he has mentioned this in class), he gives great lectures of his personal experiences in the field. Offers plenty of extra credit but make sure to start on your Primate Project early! Overall he is an awesome and intellect of a professor.
I took cultural anthropology with Professor Rigby. His class is made up of three exams, which consist of 40 multiple choice questions and a short essay(s). I ended up getting 100% on each test. Just show up to lectures for his PowerPoint notes and study the Quizlets available.
Rigby's class was incredibly easy since he curves the tests a lot, but get ready for the longest lectures in the most monotone voice. His lectures could be interesting, but most of them were spent going over his photos from all his trips to different countries. Never tested on that. Boring lectures & pretentious at times.
Interesting topics, has a story for each topic of discussion, great photographs, easy on the grading, extra credit available, best professor to take for Anthropology!
Such an easy class. He gives 4 exams plus a final. He'll drop the lowest graded exam. You have to write one paper and go to the LA ZOO for it. He plans a lot of trips around the world and give you an opportunity to travel the world. He is a very humble, wise man who will tell you life stories and steer you in the right direction.
I love this class. I ended up switching major. love the lectures, yes a bit sometimes boring but all is related to the book and the pictures are also related to the discussion of the day. Made me traveled with his stories around the world. Take him if you like adventures and a better understanding of the world.
He is an awesome professor, and truly does care about his students. He tells you at the start exactly what you need to do get the grade you want and his tests are easy if you sit down and read your textbook. His lectures are super interesting as are his stories and the videos he shares to the class. I recommend taking any of his anthro classes.
An amazing teacher! I just took him for summer and his lectures are interesting and easy to comprehend. He is so funny! He helps his students out because he wants them to succeed! This anthropology professor is easier than most! Definitely recommend especially if you are not good at test taking! He helps his students out! Amazing professor!
This professor is most generous with grading. All tests are graded on a curve, and he is a very understanding teacher. He wants to make Anthropology interesting for everyone, and his slide shows have a lot of pictures to help visual learners such as myself. He always shows pictures of the many places and landmarks he has visited, which is cool.
I had anthropology 115 with him on fall 2019. He is caring and hilarious when discussing about a lecture. You can learn a lot about him since he travelled all around the world. His lectures are all based of PowerPoints so you have to pay extra attention. He also offers extra credits as well as puts down the lowest marks in your quizzes.
Ive actually taken Professor Rigbys cultural and archaeological class in anthropology so I decided to take his physical class too this semester. I enjoyed coming to his classes because theyre fun, enjoyable, and transferable to UC. I will be taking his ANTH 202 class next spring since its my last semester before transferring to UC.
Professor Jeff Rigby is such an amazing teacher!! There are a total of 5/6 assignments, 4 exams, an essay, and a final. He drops the lowest grade out of the 4 exams. He also curves the test to help your grade. The lectures are very information and you will need to use the textbook to study as well. You also go to the zoo for the essay on primates!
He gives you everything at the beginning of the semester of what you need to know for the test. There are only 3 test and that makes up your grade but extra credit options are always available. If you keep up with the readings and make quizlets then the class is a breeze
Professor Rigby is an amazing teacher! His lectures are informative and beneficial towards the exams. Throughout the semester, theres only 3 exams, 2 book reports, and a final. Just do the study guides and you will do well. Extra credit opportunities are also available.
You are only graded for 5 exams and one project throughout the semester and he curves the tests a lot! Be prepared to self-teach as he makes it clear and known that all tests are based on textbook material that he does not go over in class. He reviews some of the material but not nearly enough. Do not take his 6:30 am class as you will fall asleep!
If you like prefer to listen rather than interact you'll enjoy the class, Professor Rigby knows exactly what he's talking about and talks about his personal experiences as an anthropologist. The exams make your grade so don't miss lectures and read the book. He gives extra credit. Just put in the work and you'll get the grade you deserve.
Great prof! Has so much experience and knows what hes talking about. Really cool stories. The tests are based exactly off his study guide so its easy to get an A. Only based off 3 exams so no pointless assignments.
Prof Rigby was really sweet. There are 4 tests and a final, and he curves all 5 and drops the lowest of the first 4 which is awesome!! They are all based on the book, so study the vocab and do the InQuisitives. The paper was the most challenging part, get started early!! He also gives a TON of opportunities for extra credit which is really great.
Professor Rigby was a great online teacher. I never got the chance to meet him due to COVID, but he was still awesome! A lot of reading to do, but as long as you do so you'll be fine. He gives 4 exams plus the final which are all vocab based. Plus two essays (super easy but time-consuming). Also, he gives out extra credit. I would totally retake!
The term paper is a major part or your grade.
A little boring at times but that is to be expected for most classes. He is one of the best teachers at Cerritos. Just do your work and also do not procrastinate and you will get an A. Also took him for ANTH100 definitely my favorite class it's so interesting you will never be bored.
great professor on evolution great class for studies
This professor is amazing. I had him for an online class. I learned on my own because it wasn't remote but he drops your lowest test score and offers extra credit. He's straight forward about assignments and explains everything thoroughly. I enjoyed this class and appreciate this professor for caring about his students during this difficult time.
Great class. Professor knows the subject extremely well. Fair grader. Cares about students. Lots of reading. 4 test and 1 research paper. Easy to pass if you study and read whats instructed.
Great Professor! There is 5 tests (drops the lowest) and one term paper. Offers various extra credit.
Took him for spring 2021. So it was an online class where he took attendance by how often we were on canvas. I really enjoyed him he was open to questions and easily accessible through email or text. In order to pass the class you need to read the books that are designated for the course!!!
Great teacher & class!!!
He is an amazing professor ! I took him this semester for anthro 115 and it was 5 exams and 2 papers but one exam will be dropped. I suggest make study groups or you will not pass! Overall he has a clear grading criteria and makes study guides for test but if you dont study you wont pass! This subject is hard and hes the best professor for it !
Professor Rigby, is an amazing professor. His class will include 5 exams, He drops the lowest grade for one of the exams which is awesome ! Also his class will include 2 papers which are very easy and he will give you plenty of time to complete them. Offers plenty of extra credit as well.
Professor Rigby, is an amazing professor. His class will include 5 exams, He drops the lowest grade for one of the exams! Also his class will include 2 papers which are very easy so stay on top of them and he will give you plenty of time to complete them. He also provides extra credit !!!!
If you do not want to take chemistry, physics, biology, etc. take this class w this prof. 5 exams and a term paper. Not much to say about prof since I was online but he seems great. I passed with a B WITHOUT EC, if i took the time to do it I wouldve had an easy A. This class is easy to pass no matter what. If you dont pass you just didnt try.
It is a pretty straight forward class to be completely honest. I took him for 3 classes and everything was pretty concise. You just have to read and keep up with your work/projects. You will do fine there are chances to receive extra credit if you need to catch up on points. His curving is fair as he takes the class average, which is pretty good.
His lectures are very well put together and if you invest the time in, it is very easy to do well on the exams. The term papers are easy if you get started early and he offers opportunities for extra credit. Also is very generous with grading on a curve. Would definitely recommend
This is not a search answer type of thing, most answers come from lab wrkbook, they are criticial thinking questions. LABS R do every other day for this short summer class, TIME CONSUMING, because one lab has like 8 sections, each section has 10-18 questions. sleepless nights, 6 wk class, 16 chapters. He doesnt grade right away labs. 1 MID 1 FINAL
OMG SO MUCH HOME WORK. All answers are as you read along your labs, nothing is online FYI. If you do the study guides he prvides for the midterm and final, you are going to pass his exams. I wanted to take professor santiago garcia, but he got full 3x i waited my app date, but i dont regret this professor. Be ready2 not sleep, i pulled allnightrs
I attended Professor Rigby's Anth100 over the summer and enjoyed his class. He tells yous clearly on the syllabus and videos what his class expectations are and where majority of his test information come from. Make sure to read the lectures, watch the videos and read the textbook to answer the study guide and pass the class.
An amazing teacher they has always reply to any messages you sent him. Hes very responsive professional and willing to work with students. I highly recommend him.
Great Professor! He gives you stay guides make sure you use them! Tests not too difficult but does have short essay questions.
Great Professor! As long as you follow the study guide you will do good on the exams.
Modules and lessons are well put together and the lectures are easy to understand. Very fair and fast grading with great feedback.
Great professor! You will pass the class as long as you read the power points and take notes of your reading.
cool teacher, course is self guided with exams once every few weeks. if you know the material the exams are easy to ace, i'm taking him again for physical anthropology and id recommend anyone else who enjoyed/enjoys his class format to do the same.
Graded off three exams, each with around 40 multiple choice and 4 written responses. Just follow the study guide and you'll easily ace the class. You learn some interesting things!
The class was just 5 tests, and 1 term paper, with no assignments. I would not take this class again due to the heavy loads of reading that had to be done for the tests. The reading material was tough to grasp. His lectures helped some, but overall it was a stressful class. Can be an easy A, but you have to commit all your time to the reading.
The 4 tests are pretty easy to do and are around 100 points lowest one gets dropped. The professor is very strict about the time on tests if you don't got accommodations. The hardest assessment is the paper, where he grades based on how many pages you did 6-7 is a c, and 9-12 pages is an A, and he is strict on how the paper is written.
very great professor his lecture that he give on the slides cut the info straight to the point . very inspirational. great story teller get ready FOR STORY TIME
Great teacher he is very funny and cares about you you will learn a lot
Professor Ribgy wasn't hard just that his lectures did not have much to do with the exams & it would confuse me. The study guide he provided for us was nice but for the exams it was mostly having to read the book & know the definitions. Theres a final essay, just use his lecture notes. He's an easy grader too for the exams he curves them.
There are three tests there 50 questions and are like 45 min time limit. There will be a research paper taking notes in a zoo signifying their biography. There will be a primate paper at the end of the semester which has to be 7-10 pages long. There is extra credit.
Really interesting guy with interesting stories. Class was graded on three tests and one research paper. So if you messed up on one, it would be really hard to recover.
Professor Rigby is undoubtedly an expert in all fields regarding Anthropology. His lectures kept myself and the class entertained for the duration of the class period, and the course was overall a joy to partake in. I would definitely recommend Professor Rigby to any student seeking an in depth education in evolution and science as a whole.
Professor Rigby's lectures involve many fascinating personal stories of his. Course is easy as long as you stay on top of the readings, discussions, and online quizzes. Tests are also online & multiple choice, 50 questions in 45 min. There is a project where you visit the LA zoo, 10 pgs worth of notes for 20 pts. Many extra credit opportunities too
This professor doesn't communicate, doesn't connect with students, he connects with you when he wants to. It's hard to communicate with a professor who doesn't connect with their students. It's like you being your own teacher. I wouldn't come back to this professor again
I took his online course. Pretty straight forward class. Each module is pretty repetitive so after the 1st or 2nd week it basically the same just the chapter changes, very easy to catch along and get ahead of things as for what is excepted. I would definitely take again and recommend this class. Easy going.
I would say he doesn't communicate with their students but he was an easy class honestly. the assignments are open book, we do have a project visiting the LA zoo but it is an easy A just take your time and do the work and you will be just fine.
he talks very slow and is reading directly from slides he has posted on canvas. make sure to do your inquizitives, that was what set me back to a B instead of an A . JUST DO THEM, GET THAT A! zoo assignment at the end of the semester, do up to 6 pages for maximum points. I didn't show up to class the end of the semester, many others didn't either.
U have to buy access to Inquisitive to do the HW. Every week is pretty much the same. For HW, u have to complete the Inquisitive questions & post in a discussion board. There are a total of 4 tests and 1 final u will have to take on Canvas (50 questions each & a 45-min time limit). He drops the lowest score excluding the final. Also 1 LA Zoo report
Good professor I would take him again. the study guides prepare you for the tests perfectly. there are three exams in this class. that is the entire grade book. there are extra credit opportunities that I recommend doing.
Overall, a good professor. You don't get to connect with him in online classes, but I learned a lot. The assignments were straightforward and fairly easy. You need the textbook for this class and you need to pay for access to a website to do some of his assignments. The only difficult thing was the time on the tests. 45 minutes for 50 questions.
Professor Rigby was the best. There is no possible way to fail his class. Just complete the assignments weekly and reach out to him for any questions.
Great Professor!! He never took more than a couple hours to get back to me about any question I might have had and all the assignments are laced out so on the very first day you know exactly what you signed up for.
Honestly he drops nuggets of wisdom & you can hear his life experiences through his lectures, he's deep. I do not see eye to eye on certain topics but I highly respect him as a philosopher, no question. He gave out extra credit like candy, for us transfer students your GPA will thank you. There is no excuse to fail his class unless you choose to.
I had him for spring 2024 online and he was simply awesome! There's quite a bit of reading to do but I promise it's interesting. EC includes zoo reports and coloring books. Final is a 6 page zoo report, but honestly just do the research online beforehand and have fun at the zoo! Love him, would take again.
Great class to take, flowed well weekly, you always know exactly what you should be working on. Professor Rigby is gives clear instructions and is always available if needed. Enjoyed the zoo trip assignment. Plenty of extra credit available. Would definitely take other classes with Professor Rigby.
I've taken this professor both online and in person and for both experiences they were nothing short of great. Very interesting lectures, and he is very clear on what is needed in order to pass the class. He also gives plenty of opportunities like extra credit for those who are falling behind or would like a better grade!
Within the 6 weeks of this summer class we were expected to do a 24 pgs of study guides for 3 exams and a 7-12 page essay, each 25% of the 400 points of this class. It doesn't sound that difficult until you look at the confusing 100 slide lectures to complete the SG and the many typos made in the exams. Grading scales weren't clear for essay either
Professor Rigby had great communication throughout the summer course. He wanted to make sure his students understood the material so he gave us ample resources including PowerPoints ,quiz lets, and information identifying the key concepts(ask Clark). There are 5 tests and he drops the lowest score. It went pretty fast but I enjoyed the course.
Professor Rigby's ANT115 class was a smooth ride. The modules were repetitive but manageable, and the assignments were straightforward. unstuckstudy ai's quizzes and study tools really helped me stay on top of the material.
Very easy going course if you pay attention and show up, textbook is very resourceful.
There are many assignments but they are well organized on a weekly basis. Make sure to do all the discussion posts and reply to classmates. He gives different opportunities for extra credit and drops the lowest exam score. The Zoo project is not too hard if you just do the research and take the time to appreciate the animals!
What I liked most about this Anthropology course was the professor's ability to bring material to life. They made complex concepts engaging through real-world examples and discussions. The clear lectures, case studies, and group activities helped deepen my understanding, and the professor's passion made learning enjoyable.
You can just text this guy anytime you're stuck with something, which is a kind of thing i did not have with other professors. Pretty cool. The zoo project at the end was aggravating but easy. However, prepare for traffic if you go to the zoo physically. LA is a clown show.
His stuff is all right. It's all self-learning pretty much just read the book and do the homework and you will pass the class.
This man and his stories were so funny. I think the magic and witchcraft class is super interesting. His lectures are a bit dull, but he always throws in a random story about his experiences traveling as an anthropologist that are so bizarre and crazy.
He is a very straightforward professor. No funny business. Specific syllabus and schedule for things so you're never lost. Hes an interesting person overall, lots of real world experience. He also can go a little offtrack during lecture, so I'd say just stick to your textbook and do your homework that somewhat aligns with the lecture.
The questions are re-worded and tricky to answer. He gives 45 minutes for each exam which is not enough to refer to notes. I invested more than the suggested time each week and I still underperformed. I was extremely unsatisfied with my grade throughout the course. I tried to achieve a better grade but the exams is where I struggled.
Overall the work was not too hard every week was usually just a reading and a discussion post so it was very manageable. He is extremely funny and gives very good life advice throughout lectures which I liked very much. Also it was a very interesting subject overall.
The professor was super nice and gives you a ton of opportunity to fix your grade. I was 2 weeks late on the only project we had and he still gave me full credit. The online structure is basically once a week you'll have a discussion, 2 min video to watch and 2 questions that are multiple choice, and a InQuizitive (25 question, super easy).
Yes there is a lot of work in this class but the homework and quizzes are kind of fun and Rigby is the most forgiving of late work I've ever seen. Quick to answer and shared a lot of interesting articles and information on anthropology. Do not get behind on reading cos there is a lot and it can be hard to grasp. But that is based on the subject.
This was my second class with Professor Rigby (took his Anth100 class too), his classes are well structured. If you do the work and study for exams, you can get an easy A. He offers multiple extra credit options, very flexible when life gets in the way when completing assignments and good about communicating.
Awesome professor! Super forgiving of late work and provides ample opportunities for extra credit. The homework is really fun and interactive (he uses Inquizitive + video quizzes) and the discussions are great opportunities to apply concepts. He also provides useful study guides. Overall, I learned a ton about anthropology through his class!
Everyone loves Rigby. He cares so much and wants to show his passion for his profession. This class is interesting, and I believe every student should learn this material. YOU HAVE TO READ! There is a lot of information, and everything is from the book. Weekly discussions, quizzes, and exams are all from the book! PLEASE READ, and you'll do great!
Professor Rugby was super accessible and even gave us his number to text. Quizzes and videos were fun and engaging, and his field photos made the class interesting. It's a good amount of work, but not too hard. Get a hard copy of the books—they help with essays. I'd take his class again!
This class was informative and interesting. The quizzes and test were relevant to what we learned in class. Professor Rigby is generous with his grading and offers numerous opportunities for extra credit. I highly encourage people to take this class!
He's a very passionate professor. You do have to do a lot of note-taking, as you are graded on that. There aren't many assignments, only a lot of reading and note-taking. The tests aren't derived from his lectures but instead from the reading, so make sure you do it. Overall, it's a fairly easy class as long as you do the work.
Mr Rigby is really knowledgeable. His lectures are very informative and interesting. He gives homework and weekly discussions but they are not hard. One big project is Los Angels Zoo visit and write a report.. Make sure you do it because it's worth lots of points. He does offer lots of extra credit. Would take him again.
Great professor with fun and engaging lectures. He provides 3 study guides and exams are directly based on them. Makes Anthropology interesting and manageable. Highly recommend.
