He is great. I took freshmen comp and enc 1102 with Dr. Smith and he helped me develop excellent writing skills. If you do the essays and turn them in when he says so, you will do great in the class.

Mr. Smith is a good teacher. I took him for ENC 1 & 2.He is hard, but if you are looking to be good at english, then you want to take him. Ther is not that much homework, so all you have to do is write well, and you'll pass. I'd definatly take him again.

He means well, but if you are a beginner in English class... stray away from him. His comments can be also unecassary.

Smith seems difficult at first, but if you show effort, he will generously give help. I did fine with his class, but I did make quite a bit of effort. Comp. I is required, and I think it's basically a weed out class like Speech, so keep that in mind.

If you do what he asks of you, you should not have any problem getting through this class. He will give you a chance to rewrite every paper before giving you a final grade. He expects you to do the work, there are no shortcuts in this class.

This class teaches you a lot. He isn't a hard teacher but he does expect you to take work seriously, which you should. There is a good amount of writing, but he's very helpful and you have a revision for each easy. I got an A on every paper, but I do like writing. I'm taking his class again. If he likes you he likes you, if he doesn't he doesn't.

I really don't understand why so many people complain about him. There is a lot of work, but for a good professor that is to be expected. The work isn't hard and he gives a course schedule which he sticks to very well. Not too many changes and he lets you know up front if a change has occoured.

I just got to this school and Mr Smith is one of the best English teachers I've had. lol He is very understanding, negotiable, helpful and the work is challenging, not hard. You just can't miss any of his classes or you fall behind.

If you want an easy A, this isn't the best class to take. Dr. Smith can be a bit tough. However, this class will be completely easy if you follow his rules. He follows his syllabus to the tee, and as long as you read that, you'll do fine. Hes nice and helpful, but does not do well with ignorant people. So just listen and pay attention.

He gives a review sheet for each test.. hint it is the test every time, and he gives you he option of looking over your paper before you turn it in. If you fail this class you didn't do anything... Professor Smith is a good professor. He helps you out as long as you ask him, and he also gives you chances to revise a paper. He kept things intresting.Out of the ordinary lesson plans, plays his guitar for the class when the lesson allows it, very reasonable assignments.Alot of discussion. One of the best english teachers i have had.Very well rounded lesson plans, you will get much more than you bargin for.

Smith is an excellent teacher, he is always willing to help. Go to class, and if you miss dont go in with some b.s. exscuse, hes not an idiot. He always grades your essays and returns them for you to fix, how can that be hard? His quizes are a little confusing, but they are an extremely small percentage of your grade.

Superb teacher. Dr. Smith concentrates on teaching how to make your writing lively by teaching the ins and outs such as using active verbs instead of passive to spice things up. He keeps things simple too. Take him if you enjoy creative writing. Otherwise if your just looking for the easy teacher that does everything verbatim look elsewhere.

Dr. Smith is a highly intelligent man. He knows his LITERATURE and really has a passion for it. Do what he ask(in the correct format),and the class will be interesting and a breeze. Other than that, he's a straightforward teacher that always gives great feedback. Overall, he's a great teacher and really enjoys teaching LITERATURE.

I took his class this summer during term A. I don't understand why there are complaints about him. He expects you to be able to write in complete sentences and to have a good use of vocabulary. It's a college class; you should be able to do those things. As long as you can do the above, you'll do fine in his class.

Mr. Smith is such a great teacher! By far my favorite. I had him summer term A & I have no clue why people are complaining. Everything he explained was clear - he did change some dates but he made it known to the class & his assignments were very simple. He was always thorough with the assignments,journal entries, and literary essays. Just do all of your work and attend every class! I got an A in his class but I worked for it. He might seem intimidating but he's actually pretty easy going. You'll learn a lot from him. Be prepared to read poetry, plays,and short stories. Focus on the research paper!

Ok, well I really enjoyed Professor Smith's classes, both for English I and II. I did fail his course the first time I took 1101. Due to circumstance, I missed about 3 weeks of class and when I came back to class I was told I could not turn in my last assignment late. I had received an A on everything else prior. Just so you know, don't fall behind

I love Dr Smith. I took both Eng I and II with him. I love to write & his passion for literature helped me decided to change my major. He is very nice, easy going; strick in a good way. Likes assigments on time. Respectful. Do participate in class. He loves music. He has this awesome metal guitar that he played for us, and sang the blues. =D

I'm taking him class now and I'm so glad I am. He mades it interesting and brings new ideas to the storys I didn't consider. Not sure if hes an easy grader or if my last teacher was tough, cause I'm getting A's on everything. I can be a little spacey, but hes a nice guy, and I'm really enjoying his class. Show up and participate in class, hand your assignments in on time. Prof Smith is easy to work with and very helpful but you have to put forth the effort to earn a good grade. He made this class much more interesting than I thought it would be.

Prof Smith is a good educator but he can be a harsh grader at times, he focuses alot on MLA format. One test, not so hard. MLA format exam; 30 questions. and one group project (EASY) Offers help on papers and is just down to earth. Gets alittle upset when class doesn't participate. ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY!

Very discussion based, hard to recommend but I made it through with an A. Lots of essays and you have to do it the way he likes it or you'll never make it.

He's great at keeping you interested. For the most part he allows you to choose your topic for papers and gives you multiple chances to revise your paper for a better grade.

By far the easiest class I ever had in years. Follow directions, respond in detail to prompts directly, and do the minimal amount of assignments and you should pass with flying colors.

Loved this class & Jeff. Like he tells you on syllabus day, go to class & do the homework. You'll do fine. Three tests, optional final. Bonus on each test. Doesn't grade homework, but he does ask students about it in class & make you do it on the board. Funny guy too, but not everyone catches and appreciates his jokes. Take him.

Mr. Smith is the greatest english prof at Seminole State!! His lectures are clear and to the point, he is SO kind and has such a great sense of humor. Our summer A class ended up going to chilis for our last class with Mr. Smith!! He is great and his material is easy to understand. I cant say enough great things about Mr. Smith! He's the best!

Great guy! Teaches well and his class is honestly really easy to get an A in if you just put forth the effort. His assignments arent difficult and he gives you enough time to complete and turn them in. Hes very considerate and caring, if you need extra time to do something simply talk to him and more than likely hell give it to you.

Dr. Jeff is awesome. Only people complaining about him are those who either didn't show up to class or don't listen when he talks. Easy A, make sure you keep track of due dates in Canvas. BRING THE TEXTBOOK TO CLASS.
