Jeff's a cool good prof. A bit unorganized--he says he'll put up an assignment at a certain time and then wait a week before actually putting him up, and never tells you when he put it up! He's a fun lecturer and doing reading is pretty unnecessary. Fairly easy too. Recommended.

Great professor! A bit unorganized at times but chalk that up to it being his first few semesters teaching a relatively new class in the policy curriculum. Jeff is a really nice professor, a solid lecturer, and his class isn't too difficult. There are some downsides to his class- he uploads assignments late a lot, cancels classes/office hours semi frequently, and is just overall a bit disorganized- but he makes up for it by being really accommodating and helpful.

Such a funny, accommodating, and caring professor. He did cancel class & upload assignments late, but it was never such a big issue for me. He uploads his lectures online which was very helpful. Midterm and exam were take home this year so it wasn't too bad. Just don't procrastinate on the policy brief and work with others on the problem sets!

I enjoyed every single one of Jeff's lectures and learned a ton from them. I took notes on what he said + the slides, and that made this class very doable. His exams take longer than he says they will, but I thought were generally fair based on lectures. Participation isn't counted, but helps if you need a boost. One of my favorite profs at UNC.

Professor Summerlin-Long was super chill, but at times seemed a little out of it during class. I took his PLCY 210 class and it seem like he was almost bored at times. I would take him again because he seems like a cool guy but he wasn't a great professor for this course.

Easy, but boring boring class. 2 take home midterms (essay based), 1 long paper, and in person final (real test style) The only homework is problem sets, which can be a little hard but you get to work with people. Jeff is the most chill prof I've had at UNC.

While Jeff is a nice guy, your grade ultimately depends on your TA and exams with complex and confusing questions. The TAs also take literally forever to grade anything. Our final paper is due the 29th, it's the 25th, and I only have 3 grades for the entire semester. Pray Noah isn't your TA, he clearly hated college.

Jeff's class was pretty great. His lectures were easy to follow and he likes to keep things light with jokes and allows breaks in the middle. There are 4 problem sets that are pretty easy if you work with other students and then a final paper that you work on for the semester. Depends on your TA but I got a lot of great feedback.

Jeff might be the most chill person I've ever met. He really cares about his job and his students. Lectures can get dry and the exams are a little difficult, but he gives you enough resources/time to get a good grade in his class. The big policy brief isn't awful, especially because he gives you feedback throughout the semester.

This class is graded by 4 problem sets, 2 midterms, and a policy brief. There was a section about "pop quizzes" that's worth 5% of your grade, we had one. Since this was an 8 am it was difficult to always pay attention but Jeff always brought good energy. He doesn't go off the traditional grading system so there's more wiggle room if you mess up.

Jeff is downright the most friendly and funny professor I've ever had. He's an incredibly accomplished and smart guy, but never comes off as arrogant. He was explicit with what will be tested, to where effort would directly translate to success. He was a bit forgetful with posting assignments, but always accommodated that by extending deadlines.

Jeff is incredibly chill, doesn't require attendance, and is very approachable. Only reason I ended up with a B is that I simply didn't turn something in. He simply read off of slides (Jeff- if you're reading this, please proofread your slides man) but also posts videos of lectures and slides. Beware of the exams though, they're the only hard part.

I agree w/ the reviews for Jeff; super chill and his lectures felt very casual. However, this course was completely lectured, w/ a few problem sets about every month or so, but I found the content hard to comprehend b/c there was a lack of in-depth discussion in the class. If we did more group work and less lecturing, I would have done better.

Not a difficult class at all, however the exams were very tricky and were the main reason my grade went down. Final grade is based on four problem sets, a 10-15 page paper which you work on throughout the semester and get constant feedback on, midterm, and a final. As long as you show up and put a good amount of effort in, you will do great.

Class can be a little slow at times, but Jeff really cares about his students and is extremely accessible outside of class. The exams are mainly based on slides, but it can be helpful to take supplemental notes in class. The paper is weighted 35% of the final grade, but he gives you many opportunities to talk with TAs and submit rough drafts.

JS-L gives great lectures that cover the material well and answers all questions to the best of his ability. Your experience will depend on your assigned TA, much like the other large PLCY classes. More than half of your grade is based on the midterm/final (they aren't horrible if you study) and there is a semester long brief worth another portion.

Absolutely love Jeff. This class gave me so many good opportunities to read and examine different court cases that I had and hadn't heard of before. Grades did take a while to receive, but nothing was graded harshly at all which made it not a big issue. Absolutely recommend taking if you have any interest in Law, very low stakes class.
