A really good professor who is very understanding about attendance and situations that can affect your attendance. Would take another one of his classes!

He was a great teacher to have. He is extremely clear in what he wants and will take the time to help out any student who needs it. He jokes around a lot so the class is entertaining while you learn. He is by far my favorite teacher I've ever had.

He was very clear and really cares about his students succeeding. He will take the time to answer any and all questions you have. He gives you until the end of the semester to do homework. We didn't use the vocab book AT ALL so don't bother buying it. Attendance isn't mandatory, but he does do in class assignments for a grade almost every day.

Very nice professor, super organize, helpful and clear. you will use the text book and the reading book. Quizzes almost every week but if you study the vocabulary are going to be easy. notes are important for the final and the homework is important as well.

Mr. Vogel will go out of his way to help you if you're lost, stuck on a question, or need clarification. This class really helped my GPA. I am a pretty good reader and writer and I have also learned some new skills for when I move up to ENG 200, 1A, and 70. Take him if you want to become a better reader and writer. Class is useful. This class was great! I heard it was better than ENG 1B so I made the decision to take 70. The only frustrating aspect of this class was the group projects. I am more of a 'research on-my-own' type of guy. If you can get past the groups, then I definitely suggest taking this course with Professor Vogel.

It's an Easy A. All the homework is for completion. He is a really easy essay grader. There are 3 vocab quizzes and 3 book quizzes. They are not hard to study for. You should have no problem getting an A. He can also be funny sometimes. Take him!

Mr. Vogel, is a good professor, I learned a lot from his class, he gives a lot of homework which forces you to study and therefore you learn more.

This class wasn't my favorite, but it was mandatory that I took it, He is a really good professor. His points are very clear. Good slideshows. He is easy to get along with and is friendly. I highly recommend this teacher.

If you want to take an easy class and also learn a lot, then you should take this class. He is very friendly and is never mad or rude. He is very open to helping students and I wish he could be my teacher for all my English classes. Tests are also very easy, and there is always extra credit before each test.

Professor Vogel is amazing. One of the better online classes i have taken. Very clear on grading criteria, and the professor really cares and wants students to do well. 4 quizzes -1 midterm-1 final (All multiple choice) and 1 final paper. Very fun class, with interesting topics, learned a lot. Put in the work and you can get an A.

Professor Vogel is one of the most understanding professors I have had. He allows you to use notes on tests/quizzes and he will answer any questions that you may have. He is extremely encouraging and respectful when he asks you to share your thoughts during class. Definitely one of the most impactful professors you'll find at Saddleback College.

This critical thinking class was a great alternative to English 1B. The class was not all that difficult, and yet I learned more than I normally do in a classroom setting. Highly recommend.

Jeff was honestly the best teacher I have ever taken and I mean it. He really connects with you and he felt more like a best friend to me and not just my english teacher. I learned a lot from this class and if you show up, pay attention and listen to what he says you should get an easy A.

He manages to be very thorough with his explanations, even in an online class, and will always respond to emails promptly. A long as you stay on track with your work, you'll pass. Such a great teacher! He really helped me, not just in his class, but in my other classes (with writing essays and speed reading and comprehension). He is caring and so easy to talk too. Really enjoyed taking his class! Showing up and participating really makes a difference too! (which you'll want too when you see how awesome of a teacher he is)

This professor is great. The assignments and readings really help you to learn the material. He always responds promptly and is so polite and nice.

There is not a lot of homework, teacher is very specific in listing weekly assignments with clear instructions. Interesting class.

In ENG 190 Professor Vogel has a clear structure of assignments that need to be due within a week. You do a lot of assignments and reading. I love his course because it pushes your mind beyond its limits of thinking. Also take this course, only if your not a student who is taking many classes because you will fall behind in other course assignments

Professor Vogel very clearly lets you know what he expects of you and has very clear guidelines set for all assignments. He is accessible and responds promptly. Would definitely take his class again.

I really respect Dr. Vogel for his professional way of teaching; clearly showing what he expects from you. Helped me strengthen in multiple areas that I previously struggled with. He is kind and has a good sense of humor. He is discreet with videos that contain cussing; he makes sure everyone is comfortable with it if any are present. Thanks Vogel!

Dr. Vogel is the man. Took this class online, which is great. Very well paced and put together for an online class. The assignments are interesting and Dr. Vogel provides great feedback. Wish I took him on campus. Seems like a really nice guy just based on his emails.

Jeff was so great! He emailed me often just to let me know how good I was doing and it really boosted my confidence! He's a fair grader and really appreciates people who participate and show an interest in the assignments.

Jeff is by far the most caring professor I have had, he does a lot of partner work which is very helpful, he cares about his students and he is not a tough grader at all. Jeff was such a great teacher and made English really fun. I really dislike English but he helped with my reading and writing skills , and I was able to opt out of taking ENG1B for this class. Need the textbooks for the homework online, always a discussion and response every week and notes from the chapter due by Sunday evenings. I recommend him!

If you want to study a lot of things with a pretty nice Professor, please take him. I'm sure that you will find interests in studying English if English is not your first language. Even though my English is not really good, but he always appreciates all of my opinions. Highly recommend!!!!

This was my all-time favorite professor. He genuinely cares about his students and is more than willing to help you! Attendance is mandatory because of in-class work and if you skip you miss important info for your essay's. He motivates his students by sending emails on how well they are doing and what needs improvement. Definitely, recommend him!

Great class! Not a lot of writing like most ENG classes. Easy to pass and master if you try. Lots of weekly assignments but easy to complete and they are not graded very strictly. Tests and quizzes matter most so take note and be ready but don't be scared it's easy to do well as long as you try. Dr. Vogel really care about his students.

Professor Vogel is a great professor! His class was a lot of work and not easy but if you do the work and give it your best effort, you'll get an A. I took this as an 8-week online class. Jeff was great, always read emails and helped you out if needed. I challenged an exam answer so he gave me extra credit for my challenge. I don't like how the exams are mostly T/F. Do your work and he is a really easy grader. He cares.

I took two classes with him (eng 390 in person and eng 70 online) both went amazing he is great with communication, always reply. Definitely take him. You wont regret it. He respects students and gives great feedback. Lots of reading to do but by the end of semester I can feel the difference in my reading and writing.

Great class, the Professor did a great job explaining every aspect of the class. I learned a lot and yet enjoyed the materials. The class is fun and useful.

This class was hard for me Dr. Vogel was super helpful and always answered my emails quickly. I ended up in the hospital for 2 weeks about 1/2 way through this class and was super stressed about failing he allowed me grace and just made sure I had everything turned in by the final date.

Vogel is such a kind professor. I found his English 70 class to be very easy and manageable. I really loved how this class had a lot of real-world applications, and Vogel is amazing about respecting all opinions and viewpoints. His feedback on assignments is also super helpful and encouraging.

Professor Vogel was a great teacher. It was an online, AVID course but he was great! Don't need to purchase a book, he will provide one for you to read; the homework wasn't bad. There weren't too many tests and there wasn't a lot of essays! He is an easy grader and was very helpful and cares a lot about his students! He wants you to succeed!

It was made of only essays and a few other minor assignments. There was plenty of time to do each essay and he clearly explained everything he was looking for. Mr. Vogel is a great professor. I enjoyed learning about how to reason when you hear something and not jump to conclusions right away. It is most important to examine everything you hear, read, or see before making up your mind. Professor Vogel also gives good feedback on papers that are submitted or questions that need to be answered.

Dr. Vogel was the greatest teacher one could ask for. Going through chemotherapy while still attending my last semester, Dr. Vogel made it easy for me to be part of the class still. How I did chemo and school? I still do not know. I highly recommend his class. He is a phenomenal teacher and genuinely cares about your learning.

This course isn't very writing heavy. Most of it was discussion boards, notes and practice. Some quizzes, a midterm, and a final. Other than a 2,400 paper for the final, the writing is easy. I learned a lot and prof really helped me learn! Solid choice in class and professor :)

Dr. Vogel is one of the best professors Saddleback has to offer! Most weeks there will be a discussion, a summary based on the (free) textbook chapters, and an extra assignment that will help you with your critical thinking skills due. There will be a few quizzes, a midterm, a 2-part final, and a final 2400 pg paper. Please take him, he's great!

Mr Vogel was a very fair grader and easy to contact. Basically all you do is write essays so be prepared to write. To get good grades on the essays just make sure to go through his slides presentation because they outline exactly what he is looking for and how to write the essay.

Dr Vogel is truly a gem. He gives great feedback with the assignments. Discussion boards, chapter summaries, 2-part midterm, 2-part final, and a 2400-word essay at the end of the semester. I attended office hours once to get help for my essay and he gives such amazing suggestions on how to approach the paper. Highly recommend!

Really well organized and fair class. Discussions and short writing assignments due each week on interesting topics, with one 2400 word essay at the end. If you did what was asked in the assignment, you would get full points. I loved Vogels class and cant recommend him enough.

He is a super mellow teacher, I learned a lot in his class, and I appreciate that he doesn't overload you with homework. I took his online course. The only con was he takes a long time to respond to emails, so make sure not to send last-minute questions; other than that, he was excellent and gave great feedback.

Professor Vogel is a motivating professor. The workload is not too bad. But the thing I respect the most is that he is very understanding and caring. You will get timely responses to questions. And if there are any technical problems he will always give you the benefit of the doubt, and feedback on most assignments.

Basically, what everyone else said, Professor Vogel is genuinely excellent. The class consisted of weekly readings and a discussion board. Midterm and final are two parts (1 multi-choice, 1 free response). Overall the course is very manageable. There is a 2400-word paper, but he gives good feedback. 10/10 would recommend.

Super easy took his summer online class and also responds to emails in timely manner. His canvas page is also very organized. A couple discussions post but nothing to crazy on those.

Professor Vogel is very good professor he makes the class feel engaging and is very welcoming always willing to answer questions and willing to help and his assignments are very straightforward. He was always willing to help students whenever they needed it would recommend this professor for anyone taking English.

Im still taking this class but I need to leave a review now because this dude is a great teacher. Gonna take him again next semester for ENG 70. If we put him in the goat conversation he would rival dudes like LeBron and MJ. Too bad they never include English teachers...

Genuinely the best prof. I have had so far. He was open for help when ever you needed and seriously cares about his students. He would ask our majors and provide insights and resources, as well as helped us with projects outside of class if we needed. He listened to every aspect of student discussion in class. 100% recommend.

He sets up the class where you can learn the concepts and apply them to real life. I really enjoyed this class and thought professor Vogel was Amazing!
