Loves to hear himself talk; visit him at the tail-end of his office hours so you can get your questions somewhat answered without too much rambling. Likes to talk about how hard his tests are and how you WILL fail them if you don't do "this and that&
Very easy
hard class, make sure you go and don't worry so much about the text; just make sure you can do the course packet problems
Aweful teacher. Talks jibberish during class and rambles. His test are extremely difficult and he does not really cover the material in class. Thinks he is the greatest thing in the world, very cocky. Take someone else.
His tests are hard but if you come to class and actually study you can pass with a C
His tests are very hard. I had to study very hard to get a B. I wouldn't recommend taking this in a mini-mester.
It was a hard class but he's a great teacher. He wants his students to pass. Do your homework and go to class and you'll do fine.
He is not helpful if you're not an accounting major. He goes really fast and expects you to just understand.Apparently he thinks his class is the only one we have to take in a semester.
He may not be the easies teacher to follow, but he does his best. He is very helpful if you go talk to him. He likes to know who his students are, so the more you talk to him, the better chances of doing well in this class.
This has to be the easiest accounting class I have taken. He may go fast but he goes over the examples thouroughly. The examples are the same as the test question. We didn't even have to make a balance sheet. I will take him for Acct 3120. Easy B, just go to class
Very average
This class is hard, but Jones does everything he can to help and encourage you. He is one my favorite teachers at Auburn!!
very hard class, but i dont care what anyone says, jones is a great teacher. Very professional, gives everyone a packet containing the content of the class and his tests pretty much come off it. Intermediate II is a hard class but jones makes sure you are prepared and is very helpful
Hard class. But he is a great professor! He always comes to class very organized and he explains things very well. He is also SOOOO willing to help you outside of class. One of the best and nicest profs I have ever had!! You are lucky if you get him!
He is a great teacher and a pretty cool guy. You have to read the book and do the problems if you want to make a good grade. If you put in the effort you'll make an A or B.
I took Dr. Jones for int acct I in the summer. He was a great teacher and would go out of his way to help any way he could! The class was def not easy but as long as you go to class, do your homework, and study ALOT you will do great!
THE GOOD: Very helpful, makes class interesting, very good at explaining things in terms you can understand. THE BAD: Sometimes gets off topic and talks too much. THE UGLY: This is a hard class any way you look at it and it will take a lot of effort to succeed. Over all, he is a very good teacher and I would definitely take him again.
He was a great professor. I had him for the first five week mini over the summer. The material is hard, but he goes out of his way to help in anyway possible. Would definitely recommend him.
This class is HARD, there's no getting around that. But Dr. Jones is a great teacher. He really knows what he's talking about, and the course packet that you have to buy is a great resource. He'll do anything to help you! Go to office hours and make sure to go to class!
Professor jones is one of the best accounting teachers at auburn, and I'm pretty sure I've had them all at this point. This class is HARD, prepare yourself for that. GO TO CLASS. Don't expect to do well without the effort. If you can do the assigned homework and course pack problems backwards and forwards you will ace this class.
Professor Jones is extremely helpful and he seems genuinely excited about teaching which is a nice change from most of my professors. I highly recommend taking his class.
Dr. Jone is the best professor I have ever had. He is very helpful and keeps his class interesting. To get A, you need to attend every class and do the packet before he goes through it.I highly recommend to take his class, especially if you are international student, you don't feel much language barrier while listening to his class.
Dr. Jones is great! Best teacher I have had at Auburn. He is great at explaining things and always willing to help. The class is hard but it's accounting. Take him if you can!!
I definitely recommend taking Jones for 3120. He is extremely helpful and does a great job at teaching the material. This is a hard class, but he makes it a lot more enjoyable. Study the packet and do the hw problems and you'll be fine.
His wiriting was terriable. Final exam is comprehensive. Exam is hard. No credit or curve for grade.
ONE OF THE BEST PROFESSORS AT AUBURN! He cares about how his students do and makes it easy to understand hard concepts. It is NECESSARY to go to class to do well but he doesnt take attendance and hes entertaining. The online homework doesnt really help, so make sure you do the book problems he assigns, even if its not graded. Take this class.
Great teacher!! Hard classes but he uses a lot of examples. Study examples and homework and you should do well.
Dr Jones is absolutely wonderful to take for both ACCT 3110 and 3120. The subject level is difficult but he has a course packet and for his tests, the best thing to do is rework the homework and read the chapters. It's a lot of work but a B is doable and an A is very possible!
Dr. Jones is the best professor I have ever had. The subject is hard, but Dr. Jones makes it as easy to understand as possible. Whenever you need advice with anything go to him. He challenges you to be the best you can be and believes you can be more than that. He cares about you as an individual and wants to see you reach your full potential.
Best professor in the business school. Hard class but Dr. Jones is energetic and it's really easy to pay attention in class. Doesn't waste time on conceptual things, mostly works problems which is the way this class should be taught. Take him if you can!
Dr. Jones is by far the best professor I have had at Auburn. He makes a very difficult class more enjoyable and he helps make sense of some very complex concepts. Excellent person and teacher.
Good teacher, hard class, pay attention and you'll be fine. Attendence isn't mandatory but helpful.
One of the best teachers I've had, doing bad in this class is not his fault at all, always willing to help and goes over everything really well. He is tough but that just because the material is hard but he does a great job teaching it. study well in advance for test though.
Dr. Jones teaches very difficult classes, but does an excellent job of presenting the material and helping you work through some very difficult concepts. His tests are difficult, and you cannot afford to miss class under any circumstances, but attend, and pay attention, and he will help you master a very important subject matter. 10/10
I can't recommended him after taking his 3120 class. Oversimplifies simple concepts and the tests only vaguely resemble the many homework problems he assigns. And by vaguely, I mean you can do the assigned problems backwards and forwards, multiple times but good luck on the test problems. Take Stanley or really anyone else.
I thought Professor Brandon was hard until I took a course with Professor Jones. Look, the subject matter is hard. And ending with cash flow statements is really overwhelming. But, if you pay attention, take lots of notes using his course packet, you'll have all you need. Much like Interm. I, CNOW can be really frustrating, but it helps. Do them.
Not going to lie, this class was hard. However, Dr. Jones did a pretty good job of explaining the material. I had to read the textbook and do the homework a couple of times to really grasp the concepts. He is a great guy and makes the lectures as interesting as they can be. Highly recommend him if you need to take this course.
Dr. Jones is a very nice guy and thoroughly enjoys accounting. His class is difficult by nature but Dr. Jones is a gifted teacher and cares about his students. Be prepared for about 5 hours of homework every week. The homework isn't due until the test date and is very detailed and time consuming, but really helps you understand the material.
This was easily my favorite class so far. I wish I could have taken this course before any of the others in my Masters program. He is a very charismatic and engaging lecturer, and class was never boring.
So honestly he's not the worst. He rambles ALOT about random stuff that doesn't even apply to the class which makes him squeeze in material at the end of class all the time. He never lets us out early and normally runs over. Need to work hard for a good grade and teach yourself most of the material.
I loved Dr. Jones. His tests are very straight forward if you study. DO THE HOMEWORKS! They take a good bit of time but if you understand the homework you will make an A or B on the tests. He also uses real life examples that make everything so much easier to comprehend. TAKE HIM. Accounting is somewhat challenging no matter who you have
Dr. Jones is one of the best professors that Ive had. However, his course was still the most difficult one that Ive taken at Auburn so far. Attendance at every lecture is a must, and you need to really stay on top of your homework assignments if you want a decent grade.
Dr. Jones is extremely smart and explains things very well. The more you read ahead of class, the more you will get out of it. He is one of the authors of the book so his lectures, homework, and tests are all based on it and very consistent. It is a tough class, but the more you out in to it the more you will get out of it.
Dr. Jones is one of the best, if not the best, professor for intermediate. He is a lively person, which makes the subject more interesting. The subject is hard, but he does a good job explaining. There are 4 exams and a homework grade. Make sure you read the material before and after class. An A is possible, but you're going to have to work for it.
He is very nice and respected! For every lecture, he gives us very clear instructions and notes. He is very friendly to students when you come to his office asking questions. You wouldn't have much homework, and you do not need to read the whole book. You will find that acc is interesting in his class. I really appreciated him.
One of my favorite professors at Auburn! Super fun guy and makes material easy to understand. Tests are hard but he gives extra credit after every exam.
The best professor I've had at Auburn. Really cares about all of his students and is not hesitant to help if you need it. Definitely show up to class, even if you don't listen it helps a lot to watch him work things out.
Jones is a really great professor for Intermediate and he cares about his students learning the information. He encourages coming to his office with questions and to review material, and he is clear with what will be on each test and what he expects.
Dr. Jones is a good professor and knows what he is talking about. However, hard class. CNOW is good practice for the test but not enough. GO TO SI. His tests are very hard and my class always had a C or D average. Final test was HARDD. I had to teach myself a lot. I would recommend taking Cornett because there is a lot more chance for extra credit
Very good teacher. Makes the material easy to understand. Gives good background explanations and wants you to actually understand the material not memorize. Tests are straight forward but multiple choice can be tricky. Take good class notes, do the homework he assigns, and know the concepts behind the problems. Office hours are super helpful.
Dr. Jones is the best Financial Accounting professor at Auburn. His passion shows and he's good at all the "teacher stuff" too (replying to emails, quick grading, etc.). I can't recommend him enough, especially to accounting majors.
As a finance student forced to take Intermediate Accounting I was not too happy to be in this class. But Professor Jones is a great choice if you're an accounting or finance major. His lectures are great and even though attendance isn't mandatory I still went to every class. Homework assignments for every chapter but they saved my grade at the end.
Professor Jones is easily my favorite professor at Auburn. I took him for both Intermediate I and II, and I can sincerely say that I miss his class. You know exactly what will be on the exams, and his class is extremely well organized. The course packet and the textbook are all you'll need. He is extremely devoted to his students and a great prof.
Probably the hardest I have ever worked for an A. Go to class (seriously) and READ THE BOOK. Do the homework early - don't wait until last minute. I studied about a week in advance. Know the course packet & go to office hours if you do not understand. An A is possible but you will have to work for it. He will not hand it to you by any means.
Only C I have ever made in my life! Class is super hard if you don't like finance, but Dr. Jones is a great professor! Study study study Your Auburn Alumni C.H.
Professor Jones does not care for his students. On the first day of class he said that he would only meet with you on the 2 days out of the week that he taught from 11-2 no exceptions. The class is hard and he even laughed about failing a student with a 4.0 the previous year. Tests are not like hw, course packet, or text book. The worst professor!!
Dr. Jones is an incredible professor who teaches you how to think critically and study hard. He makes you understand the subject matter and you have to work hard, but he is an awesome guy who wants his students to do well. He is very accessible and he is always great with helping students who are struggling.
I am finishing up my third semester with Dr. Jones and can easily say that hes been my favorite professor at Auburn. Teaches some of the hardest classes in the college of business so you will have to study more than youve ever had before, but he really cares for his students and gives you the knowledge to succeed in your career
I love Dr. Jones!! I had him for Principles, too and have nothing bad to say. His lectures are great and he is so nice! He wants to help you succeed!! This class is nightmare hard no matter who you have. Its a weed out class. Do not skip class and do not fall behind. Also, CNow homework CANNOT be done in one night. Its hard/time consuming.
I had Dr. Jones for intermediate I & II during 2020. He was gracious with extra credit during the transition online, responsive to emails/questions, & structured/organized in teaching hard material- I cannot recommend Dr. Jones enough!! Textbook reading & practice problems are essential to an A, but Dr. Jones will meet u halfway to help u succeed.
Trust me just do not take him. I promise you will regret it.
Absolutely the hardest class I've taken at Auburn, but probably the best professor I've had. If I was better at accounting I would take Dr. Jones for every class that I could. If you are pursuing an accounting degree at Auburn, you can't go wrong with Dr. Jones.
Jones is an awesome professor for extremely difficult material. He does not make the class easy but really cares about his students and wants them to learn. He is more than happy to help students in office hours and is encouraging! I took him for intermediate 1&2 and they were the hardest classes of college, but enjoyable with a great professor.
This is the hardest class in the business school, but Dr. Jones is the best professor for it. He gives you all the material you need and even records videos by section if you ever need to go over a section again. Plan to do work in this class everyday, practice makes perfect. If you work hard and study for this class you will have an A or B.
Intermediate Accounting is a very hard class, especially if your a finance major. However, Dr. Jones is the best teacher to take! Lectures are very interesting and Jones is very open to helping you outside of the classroom. Go to class, and rewatch lectures (he posts them to canvas), and practice everyday to do well in the course.
Dr. Jones is a veryyy knowledgable guy, like extremely smart which is helpful because he really knows how to explain the material. This class is hard no matter who you take, so be prepared to put in the work. Do the homework and the extra problems, and really know whats in the course packet and you will be fine in the class.
This is the hardest class I've ever taken. Dr Jones is brilliant and knows what he is talking about. You need to study hard. He'll curve tests by a little on a few occasions. He is really nice and always open to, even off-topic, questions. He loves to work with you so don't be afraid to ask. Fastest Grader of all time.
He wrote the book and teaches exactly what you need to know from it. I didnt read the book ever and finished with a B. I am a finance major and he goes into a lot of detail that is only for the accounting kids but still knows how to make it understandable in office hours. Sit in the front row... I didnt and should have he will def like you more.
Get ready because this class is hard either way. Jones is very smart and does know what he is talking about but he moves very fast through material and crams a lot of new hard stuff on exams. Make sure when you take this course you have a lot of time set away to study and do the home works.
Dr. Jones is one of my favorite professors at AU. He genuinely cares about students doing well and is very clear about what he wants you to know. Intermediate I and II are some of the hardest classes in ACCT but he does such a good job about making it more tolerable. Also he will round a good bit at the end of the semester if he knows who you are.
Dr. Jones is great. Know before you start, this class is difficult. You will need to put in a lot of time. I cannot speak for the other professors, but with Dr. Jones you will 100% learn the material. Get to know him, I was a big fan because he is very eager to help. Can seem cranky but just ignore that, know he cares and just wants to help.
Be prepared to study, but he is an amazing professor that truly wants you to succeed. If you do your part as a student, he will do his as a professor. Study and do what he tells you and you will be successful.
He is a great teacher and is very helpful in explaining and discussing a difficult class. He has 4 tests and a final and some homework throughout the semester. He is always open to meeting with you to explain difficult topics. This class takes a lot of studying and effort to get your desired grade. Definitely recommend taking him!
Professor Jones is a great professor for a class that is incredibly difficult. He wrote the book so he is incredibly knowledgeable about every aspect of the class. He is always open to questions and will try to help you however possible. Study as much as you can and get ahead right at the start.
Intermediate Accounting 1 is a very hard class but Dr. Jones makes it manageable and fun. I highly recommend taking him because he is one of the coauthors of the textbook and really knows what he is talking about. Overall, he is a great teacher.
He is a really good teacher who wants to see you succeed in his class. This class however is no joke. It's the toughest course I have taken at Auburn and requires tons of studying. As long as you put the effort in, you will succeed. If you don't, good luck.
Intermediate is no joke, it's one of if not the hardest class in business, especially finance. If you have to take it, I would definitely recommend taking Jefferson. If you use the "email professor" button, he explains the question very well and also answers in a timely manner. The class itself is hard, but Jefferson makes it manageable.
Don't get behind and don't skip class. Find a group to study with well in advance for tests. 5 tests, 4 regular and 1 cumulative final as well as homework grade so exams are important. If you know the homework you'll be good, he is super understanding and wants to help so reach out if you're struggling. Co-wrote the book so he knows it well.
Great accounting teacher! He cares, he is funny, and what he teaches in class helps you do well on the test. Go to class, do the course packet, and watch the videos he provides on canvas that review everything you need to know! Taking him again for intermediate 2 and excited to learn more.
Dr. Jones is possibly one of the best professors I have ever had. Intermediate is extremely hard, and he knows that. However, being a co-author of the textbook, he has immense knowledge of the topics discussed in class and is very helpful when you ask questions. His exams are no joke and this class is the first B I have ever had, so study hard.
This class is the hardest class I've ever had. There is a ridiculous amount of material on each test. The other teacher curves so if you want a guaranteed A or B, don't take this class. If you want to learn the material Dr. Jones is the way to go. You have to study hard and it stinks that there is zero curve ever or extra credit opportunity
Professor Jones is amazing, he truly wants everyone to succeed. He posts recordings of all of his lectures, gives homework & extra credit for every test.. DO THEM. The homework and EC is what saved my grade, this was a tough class, but it is very do-able with Prof Jones. 5 exams, 4 regular and the final (not cumulative). Love him!!
My genuine advice for the class content is to spend a LOT of time to understand everything. Memorization will only get you so far other than for basic terminology. If he says something is important, trust him. If you struggle with fast-paced courses, use his lecture recordings to help. Professor Jones is amazing. Reach out; he's your best resource!
I struggled at first because I wasn't sure how to study for this class but as long as you do your homework and take notes on the lectures you will do well. The tests are hard but he started to curve them after the second test. He is a great professor and gives lots of examples and practice.
Jones is such a great guy! He really wants to see you succeed but starts to be tougher on you for Intermediate II. Attendance isn't mandatory and he posts lectures on panopto but I wouldn't recommend skipping class because it is fast-paced. Tests are difficult but fair for the caliber of the class. Study his course packet and you'll do fine.
Jeff is awesome! Took him in Spring of 2024. Got a 100 on the first test and a 68 on the second, so I met with him and ended with a 95 in the class. He is busy with Intermediate students, so his office hours are often booked; however, he is very helpful when you do meet with him. Taking him for Intermediate and would highly recommend him to anyone!
Professor Jones is very good at what he does and makes sure to explain things thoroughly. The content itself is difficult but if you're willing to put in effort and study, you will do fine. Make sure you go to class otherwise, you will be very confused. Don't worry too much about studying the homework (the packet/panopto is way more helpful).
Dr. Jones is the best professor that I have had in the business school. He is very well spoken and simply just good at expressing the material. He tells you what's gonna be on the exam and if you study and go to class you'll be fine.
Pretty nice guy, but just not the teaching style for me at all.
If you go to class, this class is incredibly easy to get through. The professor is incredibly insightful and helpful throughout the course of the class. I've taken him for every accounting class.
This is a really hard class no matter what professor you take. His lectures are hard to follow along unless you read ahead. I suggest you read the textbook, go to si sessions, and study hard and you can get an A. He gives a lot of extra credit and sometimes for people who show up to class.
Jones is the best!!!! Restored my faith in my major. Very hard class that requires a lot of work to understand the material but it is very doable. Although it is extremely difficult, it has become one of my favorite classes I have taken at auburn, and I can only credit that to Dr. Jones. Taking him again for intermediate 2.
This is my second time taking Dr. Jones, and he really is the best. I am an Accounting minor, so I will be taking him a third time for IM 2. The class is honestly really hard, but he does a good job trying to explain everything. I am a high A's, 4.0 student and will be getting a low B in the class, but that is expected for IM. Would take again!
Good teacher with an ego.
Jones is the best ACCT 5110 professor- he does a great job of explaining concepts that have never made sense to me before. Intermediate is RIGOROUS. I made As on all the exams, so this class is possible, but you have to put in the work. I have never studied this hard for a class but it was worth it. EARLY (like a week in advance minimum) AND OFTEN
Dr. Jones is very smart but no matter what anyone tells you, he is not a great teacher and you should definitely take someone else for Intermediate. He wrote the book which is why all these kids think he's the best. They buy into the propaganda. Tests are entirely too difficult. Nice enough guy, but you should try to take someone else. .
This class is difficult. However, he really wants everyone to do well. You are going to have to study a lot for this class, at least a week in advance. His course packet is probably the best resource that he gives you. The class requires a lot of work, but is definitely doable
Dr. Jones is by far the best teacher for Intermediate. It is a difficult class but he does a great job teaching it. Go to class and he will answer all your questions. He also posts old lectures for you to go back and watch if needed. Make sure to finish the homework early so that you can study his course packet, which he creates his tests off of
Incredibly smart professor—he literally wrote the textbook and knows the material inside and out. He gives a course packet that guides the class, but don't be fooled: this is one of the hardest classes out there. I made a C, so I'm not here to give advice… just respect.
He travels every weekend and takes a while to answer questions, office hours are always changing. The lectures are never as good as his videos he gets off topic so easily. He would not let anyone view their final exam because he is apart of gradaution commitee and did not have the time. He is too busy for what he teaches. Ok teacher with a big ego
4 exams plus a final for 5 exams. Lowest exam replaced by final. People say he's best of options but idk if that's necessarilly true. I am an A finance major and am getting a B (w/ a lot of effort). Do homework early and start studying early! Like at minimum a week. This is a hard class no matter professor but Jones knows what he's talking abt.
Start the homework early and practice often is key in this class. You need to watch out for the fourth exam it is harder then the others. However, he is very helpful and has course videos that go with the packet for extra help. Fill out the packet multiple times to prepare for the exams. The homework can be confusing sometimes but do it.Go to class
He was really funny and his lectures were really engaging. You HAVE to practice early and often! I probably would have ended with a much higher grade if I did that. This class is hard, but he gives you everything you need to succeed.
Alright, semester 3 taking Dr. Jones, and I felt I had to rate him just one more time. Intermediate 2 is THE hardest course I've ever attempted to take. I withdrew from this course and my Accounting minor because of it. Regardless, Dr. Jones is the best. Would recommend him over anyone to take accounting courses at Auburn.
By far the hardest class I have ever taken. Jones is a great professor and clearly understands the material. I was never able to grasp the material myself. All I have to say is thank goodness I'm a finance major. I would recommend Jones, just be ready to work your butt off. Early and often is the key.
Jones is by far one of my favorite teachers. This class is hard but he is the professor you want because he literally is a co-writer of the book! Very good at explaining and being understanding of how hard the material is. Practice EARLY AND OFTEN and you'll have no problem in this class. Homework is also helpful.
