Easiest professor ever! I dreaded the class everyday just because it was so easy. If you want a good grade without a challenge he is diffently the way to go!
The reading & classroom material is usually pretty easy, but he does a good job of pushing you beyond the usual grammar/punctuation/spelling emphasis that most professors at this level are so adamant about. Aiming for detailed writing is the way to earn an A! Fun projects, good sense of humor!
Jeff is great. He gets the point across and teaches the material, treats adults like adults, and just generally is easy to deal with. He's one of the few professors I've ever just dropped in on to say hello to the semester after taking. Very fair, and very helpful.
he's cool he makes sure everyone understands what he expects. even though i finished with a B i still think i would have done better. i would have gotten an easy A. whatever Grade you get just know you deserved it he is very nice. he needs a sense of humor though. it feels like time isn't moving.
He is great. Very clear on what he expects. I took this class in the summer and he made it as easy as possible. I would recommend taking him if you can. Very helpful!!
This has been my favorite professor and not because he is easy. He's my favorite because he challanges you to think about things and motivates you to improve your skills out of a genuine love for the subject. His class is only hard if you don't try. The only disappointing thing about Mr. Alexander is that he doesn't teach more classes.
Definately show up to every class EVEN WHEN HE SAYS ON WEB CT THAT IT IS NOT REQUIRED. Bonus Points. Very smart, very nice, and this class can be fun.
This is sucha an easy class i made an B withouth even trying i just went to almost every class and did all the papers. Honestly he is one of the best teachers and understanding too, he made me actually enjoy lit for once and i wanted to go to his class....take him if you can
You have to be a total lazy idiot not to make an A in his class. He is SOOOO nice and understanding, and he really LOVES his job. He grades failrly and is very open to your style of writing. I really like this guy. He can be boring. You need to come to all of his classes because he grades participation, but if you try- you WILL get an A!
Great guy. Very helpful and welcomes all kinds of styles of writing. Put effort into the papers and come to class. Average is based on points, and whenever he says you don't have to come class, GO!! Extra points every time. I wish he were teaching more English classes. I thoroughly enjoyed the class. You learn but you also have fun!! :)
Wonderful professor. Make sure you attend classes even when he says you don't have to. He is one of the best professors I've had. Top notch guy. Very helpful and open-minded. He likes when you participate and is very social. Take his class!
WOW, now this professor is definitely spectacular!! I had the BEST time in his class last semester & loved going! He gives you many opportunities for extra points and really involves the students in the assignments so they are actually enjoyable. Not a single negative about this teacher - definitely take his class!!
Great teacher, lots of points for participation as long as you come to class. Easy assignments, there is group activity every class (I don't like that but that is how you get all the extra points). Quiz are easy, all you have to do is to check WebCT and answer the questions and bring the quiz to class. Very interactive class, I love it!
I LOVED having this class. Just put effort on your writing, come to every class. He gives random participation points. He grades papers a little hard, but he teaches you and if you want to dispute a grade, he allows it. No need for taking notes, but will use book for readings, and "pop" quizzes which he posts before class on webCT. 2 textbooks req.
Coming from 1101, I was confident about my essay writing skills, but he made me work hard on my essays. I always get B papers in his class, but the bonus points he gives each class definitely pulled my grade up to A. Make sure that you come to class, even if he said its ok not to. The bonus points really help a lot.
Awesome guy. Helps you learn in a pretty fun loving way.
Best teacher I had in college, all the comments are true. If you dont have trouble getting to class get him as soon as possible. Very helpful. Very fun.
Prof. Alexander is a good teacher. At times, especially during the beginning of the semester, the lectures are kinda boring. GO TO CLASS!! HE is VERY generous with extra credit points but you have to be in class to get the points. Grades on point system. Take this teacher!
He is a good teacher, very nice. But he was very particular and picky on grading the essays. We had three pre-essays and one final worth 150 pts. GO TO CLASS. get participation points. Boosts up grade so much. I was one point away from an A. It is an easy C and if you just do the work B. Again VERY PICKY on grading papers.
Really sweet and caring professor. Picky on grammar and I did fine(I stink at grammar).4 papers. 1 is a research essay that was to be 4-6 pages.other papers were only limited to 2-3 pgs. good topics for all papers. Got to choose research topic. Fair grader. No office so email is best to contact. Nice and approachable. Start essays early to do well.
Very helpful. very precise on what he is looking for in your essays (which there are 6 of them). I averaged a low A, high B and spent 3 hrs. max on each. BEST TEACHER YET!!
Wonderful professor who knows his stuff. Your essays will improve for the rest of your university career after this professor grades one! A twisted sense of humor so if you listen carefully you are constantly entertained. I looked forward to each class.
I loved professor Alexander! He was a great teacher, easy to understand, has a lot of extra credit opportunities, not really used the book, everything is on webCT vista. Very good hearted and very sweet.
I read these comments thinking that Alexander was going to teach me a lot in English AND give me a good grade, but I was wrong!! very picky with papers and grading, and even if you try hard you are constantly disappointed when he gives you back your graded papers.GO TO CLASS!
You have to go to class, and it can be boring, but overall it was a good class. He is very helpful and does a lot of extra credit stuff to help you. Just make sure you go to class and if he tells you you can leave early DONT!- he will do something for extra credit for the people who stay. Overall, this was a good class.
Mr. Alexander is not your usual teacher; if you do the minimum then you will get a C. As he explains it, a C is designed to capture average work and if you are "just" doing what is required then you are average. He is a well read man who sincerely desires to share his knowledge with you, not GIVE it to you. You will need to work.
Gives LOTS of extra credit and is always willing to help you out, just ask! If he says you can leave early or not go to class, DON'T! Gives four or five essays with plenty of guidance as the main grade. He's hilarious and makes the subject fun. Highly recommended.
This teacher was great. Explians in detail exactly what he wants. Essays fairly simple & post examples on Web ct to guide u in writing ur papers. Not strict on the reading assignments. Always there to help with papers. Gives ALOT of extra credit points. Those points will help your grade go up significantly. I HIGHLY recommend this teacher.
This teacher is excellent. The only way not to make a great grade in his class is to not write the papers. He is very helpful and gives TONS of participation/extra credit points!! I highly recommend this teacher.
Excellant teacher, very helpful. Allows you to turn papers in early for helpful sugjestions. Attend class, pay attention and ask questions and you will get an A. Gives lots of extra points.
Horrible professor. Missing one day can result in a full letter grade deduction on attendance. Doesn't discuss essay's fully. Inconsistent with grading.
Mr. Alexander is the worst professor I have EVER had. He does NOT give a lot of extra credit..atleast not anymore. He grades your essays very strict and even admits to writing the sample essays you read in class. His grading for essays is BS dont expect anything above a B you will probably get low Bs or a C. DO NOT RECOMMEND.
Terrible is the only word I can think of. His essays are really hard and he never clearly explains what he wants. In order to get extra credit points you have to have read the textbook. He doesn't just throw out extra credit. His explanations are confusing and he made things seem harder.
I swear this guy makes up stuff off the top of his head and teaches it. He makes everything so confusing when really it should not be that hard, his explanations are just awful. I only took him because he was the only professor left. I feel sorry for anyone who has to take this guy.
Mr. Alexander is a very interesting teacher. He encourages students to think OUTSIDE of the box they were taught to think in through high school. Attendance is mandatory, but missing one day WON'T result in a dropped letter grade. He also gives extra credit to student who do more than he ask so if he says its okay to leave early STAY!!!
Class is madatory. He takes roll at the beginning AND end of class so if you leave early you lose points. Lectures are completely pointless. You could sum up his whole lesson in 15 min but will drag out class till the very end. 4 major papers but many small ones in the middle so as soon as you turn in one your working on the next. Grades super hard
Mr. Alexanders grading is bogus he takes off points for things that are unheard of. Grammar can cost you a letter grade on a paper. Aside from the essay his lectures and assignments are pointless. If you like being graded unfair and want Cs on your papers take him otherwise STAY AWAY!
This is the hardest grading professor I have ever had, he grades everything very strict! He takes roll twice so if you leave early you will get participation points taken off. His lectures are very confusing and boring. I would not recommend.
OMG! You actually have to go to class and stay there the entire time in a college English class!!?? Oh! And you have to write papers! Yes, as soon as you finish one paper you have another one, but its not like you have to read or anything else! Nice guy! Gives extra points, but is not the easiest class. I would take him again.
This teacher was amazing. If you do well at the beginning of the course it should be a breeze. He gave 3 big papers to write. For each one he gave a day or two before to come and get it revise. He promptly answered emails especially on Vista. His final was 50 pts and he gave 3 extra pts if it hard no errors. (note: he revised it before you turned i
Easy A if you do the work. This is college remember. I don't what these people are talking about. This teacher was amazing. He gave 3 3-4pg papers to write. For each one he revised them a day before the due date. He quickly answers emails. His final was 50 pts & he gave 3 extra pts if it had no errors.(note: he edited it before you turned it in.)
I absolutely hate english, but Prof. Alexander made it really easy for me. He is very helpful, pretty easy course, and gives extra credit/curves out the wazoo! He's awesome... just make sure you actually attend class. He's not very understanding about that. Trust me, english is NOT my thing... but I got an A :)
Excellent teacher. I really enjoyed him the whole year. If you do what you're supposed to, ASK QUESTIONS, attend class, and go through the motions, you'll get an "A." I'd highly recommend him.
anyone who is giving this guy a bad recommendation is a complete idiot. Every assignment i was given this semester had atleast a week extension and we were given curves on every paper just for asking for them curves ranging from 10 -16 points. im a terrible writer and failed this class once, with him im almost an A 20% of grade is attendance Awesom
Hate him. He may clearly explain what he wants in a paper but his standards are so high that I still fail his papers which are the only grades you get aside from attendance. Says he gives bonus merits but it is really just attendance points. I would not recommend him. Dont buy the book I think we used it once the entire semester.
Very high expectations which are easy to meet if you actually pay attention to what he asked for and proof read your papers. Extra credit is also easy if you read over what he tells you to read. All you need is some effort and you can do quite well in his class.
This is suppose to be a lower level class! Sure didnt seem like it! He grades so hard! DO NOT take his class!
I HATE writing and this professors made the classes interesting. All you have to do is show up in this class and put forth an effort. He is an excellent professor. People who give him a bad rap are people who never come to class and feel like grades should be given and not earned.
Professor Alexander is a really nice guy. He is always willing to help you out. There were a couple of instances where I was displeased with my grade and just by simply going up to him after class, he ended up giving extra points. He curved almost every paper and tells you exactly what he wants to see in each paper.
He is a horrible teacher. His grades have nothing to do with how well you write, its how deep you went. The only thing clear about his rubric is mechanics. The rest is a guessing game on what he wants. The only reason i passed his class is because i got participation points. Don't take him, if you do dont buy the book, we used it once.
Very hard on grammar! He takes role before and after class. It can be boring but GO ANYWAYS. I kept making Cs on each paper due to grammar and my participation/attendance still gave me a B+ in the class. It isn't easy. It's hard to tell what he really wants. At the start it is hit or miss with him.
He tells you everything you need to know. Have your book on you, read everything he gives you, look up all words you don't know. I felt like his extra credit was almost impossible to get, but he did give us plenty. Many people got an extra grade worth. But if you can't write or hate writing, don't take him, because he is a tough grader.
Professor Alexander is really sweet. His class isn't like super easy, but if you do the papers and come to class you'll get a good grade. Very understanding, and gives plenty of opportunities for extra credit. Also gives extra credit on the "optional work days", though he doesn't mention it in class. Very nice. Loved him.
This dude is on another planet! In another world! An alien! It is over 200 deductions on his rubric per paper, so your paper MUST be perfect! Additionally, it does not matter how well your writings skills are, you will lose!
Impossible professor! Came to every class, but still struggled to get a B. You have no idea what he actually wants your papers to be about so its a guessing game. Because of this class i won't get a 4.0 this year! Dont take him, although if you do, there is alot of extra credit
I just don't get the rude comments on this professor. He is different but in a fun way he kept our class thinking and laughing. He is a very tough grammer grader but come on this is English. I hate English and I got an A and enjoyed his class. The last thing he is is boring.
Mr. Alexander will challenge you but in a the way that totally correlates with your assignments that will be due. More than willing to help and when he gives you the option to stay or leave...STAY!! I promise it is more than worth it to stay and ask question about your current assignment!! Great professor that understands how to teach the subject.
Mr. Alexander is the best teacher I've ever had. He teaches in a really creative way. He will help you to learn a lot and he is extremely funny! Although essay writing is not my favorite thing to do, having him as a professor really made it a great experience. I definitely recommend him- and wish he taught other classes so I could take him again!
AWESOME TEACHER! i hate lit but he made it interesting. He s extremley helpful and always there to help. I would take him again.
I loved him! He is the most helpful teacher ever! He explains each paper and gives guidlines and examples and his not a hard grader he gives you the benefit of the doubt. This is not an easy A, but if you listen and do what he asks you will recieve and A. Make sure you try and make it to all classes.
Loved his class. English is usually known for being pretty boring, but not the case in his class. Always interesting and fun. Does grade hard, but he gives a TON of extra credit to help you along the way. DEF TAKE HIM..you won't regret it:)
Seems extremely helpful but I haven't received any help from him all semester. GO TO HIS CLASS, you don't get penalized but you do earn tons of credit. Even go to the optional classes. He's a hard grader and you can't BS your essays. But he's honest about that fact. You might need the book.
He helped me get a decent grade in his class but not with out begging for it. YOU NEED TO GO TO CLASS. It's not mandatory, but going to his class earns your participation...and it's not the usual way you would think. You might need the book for extra credit. You can get a B in this class if you try.
Seems to be very chill and kind to begin with, but I would absolutely not recommend. He grades his essays extremely harsh.
DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS. He is extremely harsh when it comes to grading and has a weird point system that doesn't make sense. If you have to take this class with him make sure you go to the extra help classes before papers are due. He gives bonus points that will be useful later.
Professor Alexander is a great professor. The only issue about him is that he grades his papers extremely hard. I understand its composition 2. But hes grading these papers like they are upper level english papers. Im really good at english and I ended up getting a B in the course after putting in alot of effort. GO TO CLASS. IT WILL HELP YOU !!
Professor Alexander was great! He has a great sense of humor and is quite the character. I highly recommend taking him, but this is not an easy A. You will have to work hard and come to class to earn an A.
He's witty and interesting, I'll give him that. The papers are graded ridiculously though. He has tons of guidelines you have to follow, which is almost impossible. I might end up with a B, but that's with lots of effort. GO TO THE WORKSHOPS. He gives extra credit but doesn't mention it beforehand. TONS of class participation points so GO TO CLASS!
Prof. Alexander is definitely a tough grader, but he definitely makes it crystal clear on what he's going to grade (you print out grading criteria to go with the paper). You definitely have to show up to class and put in the effort to your papers, but as long as you work relatively hard, you'll get a good grade. He offers a lot of extra points.
Mr. Alexander's class was challenging, but very rewarding. I feel much more comfortable writing rhetorical analyses which will be a big help for my future classes. Mr. Alexander was much funnier than I expected which made the class enjoyable. The papers are all less than 10 pages, but he's looking for very high quality work.
Mr. Alexander is probably the best professor I have ever had. Even though he is the toughest grader of ALL TIME. He also gives a participation grade that evens it out. Throughout the semester he teaches us how to become better writers and even spits out interesting facts. YOU ACTUALLY LEARN IN THE CLASS!
There are not many papers at all, and he is pretty clear on what they should be about. I will say that the in class lectures are extremely boring. Participation does play a huge part in your grade. Near the end of the semester, he makes going to class optional.
I honestly loved this class. He is a tough grader but once you use the rubric, you should be fine. You have to be in class because he takes down points for attendance and written participation daily. Take him!, you will learn a lot!!!
He's a good professor but grades VERY hard. Doesn't give a lot of homework but when he does it is a lot of work. Make sure you follow directions exactly or you will lose points. Doesn't give much grace for little mistakes.
Prob one of the best professors I've ever had. He is a very tough grader but he knows he is so he adjust his grade total. Gives a lot of chances for extra credit and if you need help all you have to do is ask. Overall nice guy and wish I could take him again. Word of advice, write about what you are passionate about. Only two papers. Take him!
I see the term "tough grader" used many times in these reviews and I don't think it accurately depicts his grading. He is very fair. He just wants you to stick to the rubric. He will make you a better writer. One of my favorite classes I have taken, wish I could take him again. Very cool guy, very smart. Optional classes extra credit. Be there!
Professor Alexander is hands down my favorite professor at KSU. He will teach you how to become a better writer, and the class discussions are fun. He makes some classes optional, but offers extra to those that go. He grades the essays pretty hard, but scales the grading scale at the end of the semester. You only have to get an 81 to get an A.
Prof. Alexander was really a good teacher. He does however grade tough on papers but he makes up for it at the end of the course with a curve. If you want to do well show up every day, GO TO OPTIONAL CLASSES! There WILL be extra credit! You don't need to buy the book, I never used it. He is a caring guy and you will learn to be a better writer!
He wants u to pass
He is a really great professor and his aim is just to make everyone a better writer, he also teaches you to open your mind and see things from other perspectives. A highly respectable teacher; just be sure to show up to all the classes because you will be rewarded.
He is a wonderful professor! He will make you think but it really does make it fun. He thinks outside the box and encourages the same from you. He does expect A LOT on his essays (but there's only 2 of them) and he curves tremendously! Highly recommend, he's a nice guy. Go to optional classes!
The class is very boring but attendance is necessary. He is very nice though
Professor Alexander is a really nice professor. He tried to make the class more interesting. Class participation is 25% of your grade, so you should definitely show up to every class if you really want an A! He grades tough but he is fair. If you suck at writing, show up to the optional class to get extra credit to boost your final grade!Notextbook
He's a super easy grader. You have to show up to class to pass, and he's sort of low energy, but he's also pretty funny and he gives out a lot of extra credit.
One of the most considerate professors I've ever taken. He's a character for sure. I missed a lot of class due to illness and he was understanding of it! Make sure to show up to every class for a better chance at an A. Not very accessible outside of class or through email. Does not have WiFi at home. Nonetheless, a very kind and intelligent man.
I love him! He is extremely intelligent and forces you to question everything and look at everything from different perspectives. I would highly recommend him. He is the favorite teacher at any level of schooling I have had.
This professor is very specific on what he wants, completely laid out on rubrics.. 2 research papers very stretched out. Tough grader, come to class for the daily merits. The five quizzes are easy. Don't expect to be able to write a good essay the day before it is due. HE IS VERY SPECIFIC ON GRAMMAR. Can sometimes be boring and repetitive.
The best professor at Kennesaw. He is so kind and understanding. As long as you show up to class and do your best on the assignments and essays, you'll be just fine :)
Professor Alexander is a good professor. Two essays, five quizzes, and daily participation points. His lectures can be awfully boring and drag out, but explain exactly what he wants on the essays.
Bad. just bad. This man explains nothing, not what he wants on the papers, not what he will do in classes, nothing at all. He's an insane grader and will take off points for stupid stuff. Treats this class like its a debate class not an English class. SPENT AN ENTIRE CLASS EXPLAINING HOW TO USE MICROSOFT WORD AND IT WAS A MANDATORY CLASS
Mr. Alexander is one of my favorite teachers so far. He's very good with using D2/L since I am taking his class online and everything is very organized. You have 3 papers throughout the semester and a fair amount of homework. His grading system is based on points and you have some opportunities for extra points. Great class, I highly recommend it !
We only had 3 essays throughout the semester and those were the only grades. He is an amazing professor that gives great feedback on your essays that way you can learn from them. He also gives out assignments that will help boost your grade. Since this was an online class he did his best to reply to all of his students, and always helped.
I loved this man. His class seems overwhelming at first and he uses a lot of big words, but he's an amazing instructor. His assignments were always extremely detailed, so you know exactly what he wants. He has a lot of wit and was always very helpful when you emailed him. Tough grader but helps you improve greatly, and offers lots of extra credit.
very very tough grader. however he is semi-somewhat understanding when it comes to late assignments. no tests or quizzes. 3 essays in total. first two are kinda easy last one is very difficult. participation is a grade.
