He knows his stuff EXTREMELY well, and will make sure you know it. Genuinely one of the most arrogant people I've ever met, yet somehow I liked him. His lectures are alright, but he usually forgets that we arent as smart as him and he just flies through difficult content without explaining and insisting that we understand. Loves rock climbing+funny

Jeff was not a great professor at all. This class should not have been that difficult, he made it the worst possible class I have taken at UK. During lectures, he put up a piece of notebook paper and took notes that way and his handwriting was not legible. He was not tech savvy at all, and always went off topic in lectures to talk about himself

The challenge of this course lies in its grading structure: 80% exams, 10% quizzes, 5% homework, and 5% attendance. Quizzes are not easy, with averages around 70%. Despite being just 1 credit, the lab demands about 5 hours weekly. Dr. Ashley makes you work hard, be prepared to practice. His lectures are good for getting the big picture.

Colossal waste of my money and time. Not uncommon for him to talk about his personal life for over 20 minutes in a 50 min lecture. Goes through the motions and tells you to watch videos and provides no explanation whatsoever for what he's doing. If you want to learn something do not take this class at UK.

Dr. Ashley is easily is the worst professor I've had so far at UK. 80% of your grade comes from the exams (2 midterms and a final). His lectures are about 50% scribbling on a notebook paper (good luck if you aren't in the first few rows) and 50% talking about his life. In short, he makes class way harder than it has any right to be.

Best professor ever. Ignore any bad reviews they were not cut out for engineering. Dude's class isn't even hard because of how engaging he is. They had to change the way the best professor award worked (voted on by students) because he won it like 11 years in a row.

Literally, all you have to do is watch the videos. If you study for 20 hours each exam you should be guaranteed an A. The only reason you have to not do good in this class is yourself. The tools are here; he will help you if needed and you have no one to blame but yourself.

Dr. Ashley is very passionate about the material and knows it forwards and backwards. He is very laid back and approachable outside of class, but he can sometimes go down the rabbit hole, so you need to keep him on topic. His grading is fair and the tests are difficult. There's no "winging it" here, you either know the material or you don't.

It seems most people are split on him, if you do good in the class you love him, if you do bad you hate him. He seems abrasive at first but seems to genuinely care about the students doing well. This course is well structured and seems to be more if you get it you get it. If you don't do well on the first exam just drop because it gets harder.

Dr. Ashley is…..something. He's very egotistical, eccentric, and he'll go on the most random tangents for half of class. But he's not rude and is nice and approachable. He goes over a lot of examples. Exams and quizzes were straightforward, no surprises. Read the textbook, watch the videos, study the practice exams, and you should be fine.

The GOAT I would actually die for this man. He jumped in front a train for me when I was 19 years old and he told me to grow up and see the transistors beyond the man I am and see the circuit I could become. After taking the class I found my new purpose in life and that's DR. ASHLEY.

Energetic, enthusiastic, knowledgeable in varied fields, give advice, caring, should give more space for asking question. Lecture: you might like the stories he told than his lecture. Updated near Spring break: No matter what happen. do not let yourself left behind after the 1st exam because the materials get harder, more non-intuitive.

You either love him or hate him. I loved him, but there's room for improvement. He often predicts questions as they're asked and answers those predicted questions. He also relies on students reading the book, even though it's not really needed. Instead, his everyday rants could be more focused on subject material. Still, amazing professor overall!

his lectures being held inside a chapel is a fun choice. felt schizophrenic a few times looking at the stained glass while he talked about his favorite alien show or rock climbing. exams are graded heavily but if you do poorly it's genuinely just a skill issue. watch the videos or maybe look into compsci.

Refreshingly professory professor. Lectures weren't repetitive or hand-holdy, so it was always interesting to show up. One issue I had was that the exams were made out to be more difficult than they actually were. This class isn't a challenge if you study. Anyone who says he's a narcissist is misappropriating justified self-confidence.

The class is not the easiest, but Dr. Ashley made it understandable. Attendance is required, but if you do great on the exams then you can still get an A with poor attendance. Homework is not worth anything but is a lot of work. It's good for review but it takes too much time tbh. Just study and you'll be fine.
