Good Teacher, loves to make you think on your own. Does not make the class hard at all. Not too much corse work, only a couple essays. Easy!

Jeff was very enthusiastic and fair even if you don't like writing. He is open to everyones opinions and doesn't put you down for what you write. I enjoyed the class.

Jeff is a very helpful professor. He encourages you to think on your own and lets you write about anything. He is very nice and there aren't a lot of assignments for this class.

I made a point to take him for 102 because I enjoyed him so much in 101... of all the English teachers I ever had, Jeff was the only one who got my style of writing! Highly recommended!!!

Super teacher. Before coming to Edinboro i hated the thought of taking a college level english class. Now that i am here Jeff's class is one of my favorites. He is friendly and is very helpful on essays and homework. Very understanding and will help you with issues even if they have nothing to do with his class.

I hated writting before I took his class. Jeff is more of an artist with his approach to English.

Bartone is a very nice teacher, that makes you actually want to learn and try. Not a hard grader, as long as you put in effort and get things in on time. Very reasonable expectations. I would take him again!

Bartone is an excellent professor. I would recommend taking him for any class. He cares about his students and is willing to help them. He doesn't normally test you on anything, and his assignments aren't hard. He will expect you to try your best, and if you do, you will get an A easily in his class.

Dr. Bartone has a passion and energy for writing and teaching that makes his class enjoyable. Any "easy" rating for his class is due to the fact that he is clear, helpful, and a great professor who will make you want to learn and to write well. Dr. Bartone is a very good teacher. He insists you call him Jeff, he doesn't like professor or doctor. He let us take our own directions in our essays and didn't waste time in class lecturing about things that aren't interesting or relevant to you. I'd take him again if I had to take another english!

Guys, Jeff is awesome, he is a really nice guy and he loves to help people. If i ever had to take another english class i would most def take it with him, easy, nice, and very clear. TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN, his classes fill very quickly

He's basically the Rachael Ray of the English Department: informative, fun, and kind of cute. His classes are a joy to attend and he even makes homework fun (who even knew that was possible?). However, he does tend to digress from the topic at hand and has changed assignments on a whim--but with his looks and his personality, who cares?

I loved Mr. Bartone's class. I had him for Intro to Fiction, a class I was not looking forward to before meeting the professor. Mr. Bartone is friendly, helpful and interesting. His class was never boring and it was a 3 hr. class on Saturdays! One of the best for sure!!

If you are a good writer, you will enjoy the liberties Bartone gives you in his 103 class. If you have terrible grammar or a boring style, he will crush your grade like a small bug. He likes to hold small assignments hostage, and has a required journal that he supposedly collects but hasn't done once so far. Fair warning: the movie essay is awful.

Great teacher. Allows a lot of freedom on all the essays. You get what you put into it; if you put effort into your writing you'll get a good grade. If you do the bare minimum, I suggest you take another teacher or English 101 instead. The journal is sort of annoying, but he does collect it at the end.

Dr. Bartone is great! You can tell this is a man who loves his work! He's always willing to help and is brutally honest!

Bartone is a gem at Edinboro.He is inspiring and passionate and allows his students plenty of freedom to explore their creativity. He takes the time to respond to your work and appreciates your efforts and style as an individual. I wish there were more professors like him at Edinboro because his class was my most memorable at EUP.

He was the first professor I ever took, and he continues to be my favorite. Writing four essays takes a bit of time, but overall, I learned a lot. He is a very nice guy, and you have the chance to take him, DO IT! You will not regret your decision.

If you take his 103 course over the 101, he expects more of you, but you have a LOT more freedom. Every essay you choose how to write it and as long as you do it well, he doesn't care. His 104 class is the same. Bartone is passionate and fun, even dresses up for Halloween! His feedback is great and you just have to be a better writer after this.

Good Professor. Nice guy if you do your work and pay attention. Easy to talk to when you are having problems in the class.

He's very helpful and will go over your essays before and after you've turned them in to give you a better understanding and to improve as much as possible. We had three essays and a final project, and the final project is tons of fun. The essays are simple: narrative, structured, and a persuasive. Very nice, easy, helpful class!

He gives you a lot of freedom when writing and has reasonable page amounts.

First class I took at Edinboro. I thoroughly enjoyed it even though I thought I could never like English. Very helpful when you can snag him for a second to read a portion of your paper. Take him if you can!

he is An amazing teacher and i look forward to this class. he is very straightforward and will help you if you ask for assistance. He is a very open teacher and isnt that strict of a grader. plus there is no textbook so that saved me some money!

If you have the opportunity to take a class with Bartone, DO IT! He's such a great professor, not to mention a generally good guy. He'll work with you if you have any concerns, most deadlines are flexible, and he wants the best for his students who take their craft seriously. Plus, he doesn't believe in making students buy textbooks.

Dr. Bartone is a phenomenal professor. I had him twice, once for ENGL 102 and now for ENGL 203. Both times he is a very knowledgable and helpful professor. When taking creative writing, he really makes it fun and brings the best writer out of you. Even if you aren't a fan of writing. If I could I would take him every semester. Highly recommend him.

I took this class online. There were papers due by the end of every week. Each paper led up to the final paper, which was really nice. You have to do every assignment, if you miss just one, you will fail, which he lists in his requirements. Easy to get a hold of, great feedback. I thought he was great and would take him again.

Dr. Bartone truly cares about his students success, and inspires one to do better. He's a very funny teacher, and you can tell that he loves his job.

Dr. Bartone lets you get creative with projects and bring your interests into the classroom in exciting ways, and you can split up the big papers and do them in groups. We did "workshops" on resumes, recommendation reports, business plans, and promotional materials - real-world feedback on writing and a little bit of graphic design!

Bartone is a great man. His creative writing class is easy! I'm not one to love an english class but this one is one I would take again. He gives great feedback & your final is worked on all semester, which is a big help. take this class if you get the chance!!

Great Professor! 3 portfolios (fiction,poetry & drama) not due till the end of the semester. Online assignments that help you apply lecture and brainstorm, all beneficial to the final portfolios. He gives good feedback and gives extra credit for those who participate and go above and beyond whats expected. Easy A if you do what he asks!

Dr. Bartone is a wonderful professor and I love the amount of freedom he gives you for his Creative Writing class. It's refreshing and he's a good person all around. I highly recommend taking a class with him.

The class consisted of two papers and one or two weekly assignments. He is very easy to get along with. Grading criteria is straightforward and he is a pretty easy grader. There is a ton of flexibility in the assignments. It was pretty much a standard English class.

I took this as a summer class online, so there was stuff due almost every day. Due to my own incompetence, I stopped turning in assignments and didn't finish the final paper. He did take time to check in and remind us when we weren't turning things in on time. He also let us be very personal with the topics we wrote about.
