loves what he does, really good teacher, loves Finnland or Norway, can't remember but always there to help you out and makes class interesting for the most part
One of the best teachers at Tech!
Tests are pretty hard, but he is a good professor. Has a background I international schools, and has a lot of neat videos/examples. Project of class is intense, with high expectations.
Amazing and excellent professor! Took me a few classes to warm up to his personality. He explains material clearly, gets students involved in discussions, provides examples from his experiences. Test are somewhat hard. If you study and read textbook, you should be fine. Project is tedious. I learned a lot in the class and definitely recommend him!
His tests are fairly easy. I would say an hour or two of studying and you will most likely get a B.
You don't really learn anything super useful. You also have to do a really pointless project in the class. The tests are very easy if you study the book. He uses the book's software to create the tests, which also means he has no clue what he asks on the test. It's a little annoying how he basically has a script for all of his classes though.
Very entertaining with examples, kept me engaged. Big person on class discussion. Will call on people but makes it entertaining &give us a hard time in a good way. Always laughing. Hefty group project! Pick partners wisely. Only use of book is for tests, highly recommend. Very easy going &easy to talk to! One of my favorite teachers.
Took him in the summer and he's a cool guy. Lectures were him poking fun at students and watching youtube videos of commercials while lecturing from slides. Reading the text book and the slides he puts on his website are the only way to really study. Class averages are high C's so if you make a B like me you should feel good.
Awesome guy. Read the text book. Know the key terms. I had to work for my grade, but with a little bit of effort you can get an A.
Great professor and very funny guy. Lectures can get boring sometimes and repetitive because of him constantly saying "right" all the time. Easy class, know the key terms for the test and you'll make an A.
His lectures are basically him telling stories about his travels and his kid and then him asking students questions. Read the book and you'll make a high B or A.
Super great guy. Easy class. Read book and study notes, you'll do fine!
Really funny guy and makes the class interesting with personal stories. Reads off the slides which was annoying. I used online book resources to study (and what notes I did take) and did well enough on tests. Tests are only grades (and RSRP), they can be tricky (some answers could go both ways). Last 10 ?s on tests are student generated, study them
I thought he was an awesome tacher! I will be taking his class on Market Promotion this coming fall.
Easy class. Attendance is not mandatory, but if you don't miss more than 2 classes you get 2 points added to your final grade. Tests are easy if you just study the power points. Last ten questions come from quizzes that students make.
Tests are easy if you study his powerpoints, he makes students make quizzes for each chapter and then puts 10 of those questions on the test. Will not round your grade up at the end of the semester so don't plan on having any wiggle room. ZERO SYMPATHY. Adds 2 points to your grade if you don't miss more than 2 classes
Harper is seriously AWESOME. First of all, he's hilarious and makes lectures super interesting (he let me and my friend play with his new iPhone 6 Plus, too). Last 10 questions on the test are from group quizzes where the answered are posted online. Just study his PowerPoints and make notes of the examples that he gives, too! Loved this class
Very funny and nice guy. Keeps class interesting with stories. If you are good looking girl, he will creep on you all semester but its completely harmless.
This professor prides himself on being a fair teacher and is always professional. When it comes to tests, don't rely solely on the LearnSmart to make a B on the test. My Class showed up over 80% everyday, which allows for only 3 tests and no comprehensive final. Has traveled quite a bit even though the majority of career has been at TTU. Great Prof
Awesome professor. Was not interested in Marketing at all, but he made it fun and easy. Would recommend 100%. Talks a lot about his international experience and study abroad, but you get use to it. 3 easy tests and no final. Easy A(Class avg for the entire class was an 89).
Attendance and doing the learn smart exercises is key to getting a decent grade in class. Each test gets a little more difficult and grade is complete based on 3 test scores, unless a final is mandatory for the class. There are two pluses to attendance; get two points added to final grade and no final if class attednance doesn't drop below 80%
Harper is a cool guy. He loves to tell his stories so get ready for those, but he is a good professor. Key to passing this class, READ THE CHAPTERS! Do not make the mistake I did, I did not read them ever. I still did good but when your grade consists of only 3 test and that is it, there is no room for error. Go to class and you won't have a final.
Harper is an amazing professor! I took him for two courses, and loved his teaching style. Really implements real world situations and if you do want her tell you, you can make an A in the course.
Lectures using real examples, mostly from his personal experiences and ends up talking about his son a lot. Has mostly lectures with the rare occasion of guest speakers and videos. Only four exams unless class participation is higher than 80%, then it is only three. Exams are the ONLY grades for this class. Uses simple Pop Quizzes as attendance.
He is a great guy and really respects his students and really really enjoys the foreign students. He really connects with them and I think the people from Texas just bore him. If you go to class he gives you hints and sometimes answers, he truely wanted the best for us. Also, go to class! If he has to wake up early to teach us, you should come.
This was the BEST professor I have taken at Rawls!I had a solid B in the class before the final test and knew it would be hard to ace the class but decided to go talk him anyway. He advised me of the grade that I would need to make an A in the class and was honest and upfront. He has students best interest and I actually enjoyed taking his class.
Hes pretty good actually, very funny and easy to his understand lectures. There aren't that many grades in the class so do pay attention!
Harper is an amazing professor. The grading is very simple, and was recently updated in Spring of 2018. Your grade consists of 3 exams and about 10 homework assignments if your class has good attendance. Each exam counts 25% of your grade and homework is 25%. The homework comes straight out of the lecture slides which he provides on his website.
He's funny and engaging. Dr. Harper is understanding if you have to miss a class for a valid reason. Don't lie to him because there are multiple ways he can catch you. E.g., don't lie about reading the textbook online because Pearson tracks how much you actually read, when you read and professor can see that too.
Took him for my first semester at Tech as a transfer student and he has set the bar really high for what I expect other professors to be like here at the Rawls. Awesome guy provides very engaging lectures, gives great professional and life advice, and offers extra credit. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
Easy A if you put in the work. His dry humor cracks me tf up, and he is big on feedback. He loves to know what is wrong, instead of what is right so he can make his class/Rawls a better place. He doesn't teach for a paycheck, he teaches because he cares about his students. Every prof should look up to this man. Btw he brags alot about running lol.
Harpers class is an easy A. one home work assignment is due every week and it come straight out of the text book. exams were very easy, and he does give extra credit if you never miss a class.
Easy class, his stories about his life experiences are what you learn from. Pearson quizzes are online and all on quizlet. Tests you definitely need to study for, but made A's on all of them.
Went into the class dreading Marketing, finished the class with an appreciation for it. Great class, amazing professor!
Lecture is a blast - super interesting. Grading is split into 25 percent chunks by 3 tests and online quizzes for each chapter. The quizzes are a free 100, so don't be dumb and waste that. He gives you the answers to 10 of the exam questions via a test bank, so make sure you study those. Awesome and interesting dude, and lectures are great.
This class is incredibly straightforward and one has to try their hardest to not make at least a B in the course. Attendance is a joke, was logged missing 17 classes and got the extra credit for attendance. Highly doubt he even has a final. He doesn't want to grade a final due to extra work. You do not need the book and the quizlets help for test.
He applies his own personal experiences to what we are learning and makes the lectures more entertaining and actually enjoyable to sit through. He has a dry sense of humor which also makes the class very funny. anyone who says the class is hard did not try. He sets you up for an A.
This guy was awesome. He has a dry sense of humor and his stories are amazing to listen to. Read the book and youll pass every test with an A. No final.
Dr. Harper is an awesome marketing professor. He's very likable and great at relating to his audience. He loves talking about diversity and marketing to different cultures, which makes the class very interesting. Keep good attendance to avoid a comprehensive final, but otherwise, there's hardly any classwork but the weekly online quiz.
Took this class twice (I had to withdraw from school the first time). If I could take it a third time I would. He is the best professor at tech. He really cares about his students and wants to make the class fair. After every test he asks "Did ya'll think the test was fair?" Does a really great job at keeping the class engaged the entire time.
Dr. Harper's a well-dressed instructor, he wears a nice suit and tie to class everyday, I think he's rich. HIs class is fun. Lots of interesting stories about his own life experience in his lecture. 3 tests, no final, definitely an easy A. Take his class!
Dr. Harper is a super understanding and fair professor. The exams are a piece of cake if you just review the slides beforehand. Also if the whole class gets 80% attendance, there is no final. I would highly recommend taking this class.
Best teacher I've had at Tech no doubt. Harper is super funny and a great lecturer. You have 3 tests and a quiz per chapter generally pretty easy just study a little bit.
The online homework was pretty easy. To get an A simply go over the smart book assignments before tests 10/10 recommend. His lectures could honestly be pretty boring but he's a nice guy and learns your name if you keep your name tag out. You'll have to pay for an attendance tracker keep that in mind when deciding. Skip the rugby video day trust me.
Dr. Harper might be the best professor I've had at Tech. He is the most relaxed guy during lecture, but that is not to say he is boring or non-instructive. You learn the basics of marketing, and you can have fun doing it. He shows fun commercials or funny youtube videos every class, and he is super charsismatic and funny. Highly recommend.
He is hilarious and makes class interesting. Hw is easy and so are the tests, you just have to study for them. If you have perfect attendance, you get points added to your final grade. I really enjoyed the class. He's the best intro to mkt professor out there!
Really likes to talk about himself. I'd say about a good quarter to half the class he talks about himself or his friends in Norway. I wouldn't mind this if attendance wasn't mandatory or if he didn't have so much of a problem with people working on other things during class. Other people seem to enjoy it but thats not what I pay for. Otherwise easy
Dr. Harper is a kind & decent man who is also highly knowledgeable. He made a pretty tough/condensed summer course extremely clear and painless, and took the time to do a thorough lecture every day during Rona, for a class that was originally in-person. Also tells the funniest anecdotes, wish him the best!
Professor Harper is a very engaging, personable, and flexible teacher. Which I believe is important with the overwhelming times of COVID-19 and a drastic shift from face to face learning to online learning. If you go to class, do your homework, and take the test, you will get an A. If you are honest about missing things, he can be very flexible.
Nice guy, but this class often feels like a waste of time.
This class was very easy, but I have never met someone who loves to talk about themselves so much. Class is about 80% him talking about himself and 20% marketing.
I absolutely love Mr. Harper. He has been an amazing professor and when I was having trouble with personal matters he was very helpful and considerate. Overall love his class and him as a person. Take his class!
The class is 100% quizes and exams. You must read your textbook or you will not get a good grade. His exams are generated by McGraw hill textbook questions and can be difficult if you do not read. You can earn a 2 point overall grade bump if you attend all of his lectures.
The quizzes/exams had nothing to do with lectures, they are from the book (McGraw Hill). At the beginning of the semester he said "I'll probably offend everyone at least once" and he was correct. If you attend class, he will bump your grade 2 percentage points at the end of the semester. He was lenient because of Covid.
My last rating was deleted. Harper is rude to students and asks people uncomfortable questions, midway through the Fall 21 semester we had to take a quiz on whether he made students uncomfortable. I ended up with an A. His lectures have absolutely NOTHING to do with quizzes or tests. Gives extra credit for not missing class. Don't delete this one.
Not a hard class at all, Harper has fun lectures and a lot of guest speakers. Quizzes are online and tests were online and not hard.
Take this professor! He is so funny and engaging and tries to make learning relevant to his life stories or things we know about or are interested in. At beginning of semester I was worried about mandatory attendance but I ended up loving the class and was sad it was over by the end. Wish he taught higher level classes as he is the best professor.
Mandatory attendance so he can talk about himself the entire semester. An easy grade if you like using McGraw Hill but be aware basically none of the "lectures" are relevant to the tests, so the only learning you will be doing is in the book. I don't care if he takes pride in "offending" people or whatever, I just don't like my time being wasted.
He is very interactive with his classes and always sent email updates to make sure students were up to date on assignments, tests, and other activities. Also had some good guest speakers who came to talk to the class which I found very interesting. Overall good professor!!
Kind of has an ego-trip, but honestly a very easy class. Everything is administered through McGraw-Hill. Go to class so you don't have to take the final. Very supportive professor if asking questions in person.
He was a good professor. Don't let him scare you about how hard this class is or anything like that, hes just trying to scare you. The class is really easy but also pretty useless information to my IT major. He has a lot of guest speakers come in towards the end of the semester. Just make sure to go to class so you don't have to take the final.
Great guy even better professor. The workload isn't bad AT ALL professor Harper really cares about his students and getting to know them. Just go to class and it's an easy A. You also have guests speakers come in to talk about internships and give great advice. Good class take him!!
Loved his lectures and loved the class itself. I definitely recommend taking him.
His lectures are amazing, but his quizzes are harder than expected. Read the textbook and try your best to retain everything, as quizzes and exams are textbook-generated questions that can be very specific. There are lots of guest speakers throughout the semester, and Dr. Harper takes feedback from his students to make sure the class is fair.
Very easy class. As long as 80% of the class shows up all semester there's no final. You get two free skips per semester, and get extra credit if you only miss 2 classes but if you miss more nothing happens. Very easy class- exams and quizzes online. His lectures are pretty entertaining
Harp is a good man and I've thoroughly enjoyed his class this year. You have two absences that will count for two extra points at the end of the year, but if you miss more it doesn't matter. He's enjoyable to speak to and well-spoken. Definitely one of my easier courses in Rawls.
He seems very scary at the beginning of the semester but I now understand it was to get rid of all the slackers or "chumps" as he calls it. He is very passionate and I really respect him for his hard work. He cracks lots of jokes and stays involved with his students! You will do well if you actually care, but don't cheat! He will catch you
Super chill guy. Seems a bit hard at the beginning of the course, but he does everything possible to help you succeed in the class. Just attend the lectures as your final exam depends of the average class attendance. Honesty hard to not do well in the class.
He will try to scare you at the beginning of the semester, but he genuinely cares for his students and wants everyone to succeed. I'm 95% my section didn't meet our attendance requirements for the semester but he still didn't give us the final, which I'm grateful for. As long as you do the homework and pay attention in class, this is an easy A.
I would take professor Harper 20 times again if I could. He truly cares about his students and wants to see you succeed. Only homework like once every 3 weeks and then 3 tests, if you go to class and do well on the tests you'll pass w an A or B. One of the best classes I have taken.
Dr Harper is one of the best professors at Texas Tech. His lectures are fun and interesting, and he engages with his students. I enjoyed coming to his class every time and did not dread it. Tests and quizzes are not hard. Attendance isn't mandatory but he gives extra credit if you show up & you won't have to take a final. Take Dr harper if you can!
Your tests are worth a lot in this class, so really focus on those. He's a very chill guy, lots of interesting stories. He's very into participating during class, so be prepared to answer him. Quizzes and Mini Sims are on Pearson and not too hard. Show up to class and get points added to your final grade
I do not understand how this guy has such great reviews. He has a high attendance rate by making the final 300 questions if the class doesn't meet the minimum rate. The chapter quizzes are proctored which is just annoying and his class is painfully slow.
I love this professor. Especially for this course. Requirements: - Go to class (therefore you do not have to take the final) - Online quizzes every week (proctored) - Online Tests (proctored) Shockingly he has participated in some marathons. Sorry Professor.
Dr. Harper is fantastic in lecture! He frequently invites guest speakers, especially early in the semester, to help students prepare for the career fair. His quizzes and tests are manageable, and his lectures provide all the key material you need to succeed.
Professor Harpers lectures consist of him telling stories about himself. The class is very slow. The best days are the guest speakers which I would say are entertaining most of the time. The only grades are proctored quizzes and exams. He says if at least 80% of the class attends every lecture then there will be no final.
He seems like a great guy, but at times comes off the wrong way. As someone who is not a good test taker this class made me extremely anxious. Each test is worth 25% (if you don't take the final) and the quizzes are worth 25% all together. The only good thing I liked about this class is that if attendance was at a 80% there would be no final
Dr.Harper was an amazing professor! He really cares about his students are their success. If you read the textbook, the quizzes and tests will be a breeze. His lectures are interesting and he adds lots of personal touches. SHOW UP TO CLASS! Then the class will have no final and you get bonus points. Just pay attention and you will do great. Easy
Professor Harper first comes off as strict, but trust that if you just put in the effort you will excel in this course. He is a great connection to make, as we have many guest speakers that can help you, even if you are not a marketing major. Make sure to take every quiz and exam, there is no extra credit. The rubric is clear and easy to follow.
I don't know why people are so fond of Dr. Harper. He makes class mandatory by the threat of a long final. The lectures you are forced to go to have little correlation to the questions you will be asked on the quizzes and exams. The class goes by slow because the topics are uninteresting an just makes it about himself or how he went to Norway.
Don't believe the bad ratings. Jeffery Harper is one of the greatest professors of all time at the Rawls, and he really cares about his students. There's always something new to learn in every lecture, and he makes it fun no matter the topic. He incorporates marketing into the material during the lectures which makes it extremely easy to understand
Grades are from quizzes and exams which are proctored. He WILL catch you cheating so don't! (He caught several people in my lecture and didn't tell them until it was too late to drop.) Attendance is mandatory, and you won't have a final if you show up. He likes the class to participate and calls on you. Good prof and easy if you read the textbook
Mr.Harper is cool and genuinely cares about his students. Come to class because if you meet the attendance every day you won't have a final. Everything is very lecture heavy, just pay attention.
Dr. Harper really cares about his students and tries to make the class entertaining. Your grade will be based off of three exams and a bunch of quizzes, which all come out of the book. You have to read the book to do well, as it can get technical in the wording. If majority of the section attends class throughout the semester, there is no final.
Easy class overall, just make sure you have access to the notes and slides for quizzes and tests. He likes to scare students saying everything is “proctored” yet doesn't require camera or mic on, just shares your screen. The final is determined by class attendance, so go to class. Nice professor but just read off slides so lectures were boring.
Not a bad professor, but not the best either. The reason I got a C is because I hardly studied at all, which I regret. He is the only professor that teaches MKT 3350 so be aware... if you're caught cheating then you can't take his class again and you won't be able to graduate as a Rawls student.
Dr.Harper is good about understanding that a lot of students aren't marketing majors, so the tests aren't too hard, but you will need to study. He brings in professionals to speak on topics covered in class, which is nice and helpful for connecting topics to real life. Sometimes he can just yap, but he's good about making the class relatable.
quizzes are proctored and he will catch students cheating, so don't cheat! other than that good class.
This is the realest Rating you will see on Harper , very good teacher super funny lectures but this class is beyond easy, he tries to say that all the test are in the testing center and they are not. all Exams, Quizzes and assignments are online and very easy. this class should be a easy A for you as long as you attend class which is mandatory.
Harper is a great professor, lectures are great he makes it interactive and relatable. He is a simple man god bless him!!!!! No homework's just a project and quizzes and tests. as long as you pay attention and read the chapters its a easy class nothing hard about it.
Weird guy fs. Beginning of year he is going to say all of the exams are proctored in the testing center but that is a lie. Lectures are a hard watch, he says "right" after every sentence. Easy to chat gpt the quizzes and exams, just kinda time consuming. Always talks about seeing his best friends wife in a sauna.. weird.
Big Jeff would not do the pushups he talked about all year. #fraud
Mr. Jeffy really likes to use the words “whatever” and “right”. It can become annoying the longer you are in his class. Exams are easy and quizzes too. He does bring up a lot of odd stories like the infamous sauna and beer story.
Overall a great class and a wonderful professor. Attendance is mandatory, if the overall class maintain 80% over the year then there is no final. Its fairly easy all lectures are online so if you need to look over something you have access to the slides, he gives you the concepts to the exams.
Dr. Harper is an interesting guy. I enjoyed listening to his lectures, even though some of his stories weirded me out. Most of his stories were good, though, b/c they helped me better understand the marketing concepts. Quizzes and tests are proctored. I suggest reading the assigned chapters in the textbook, b/c quizzes and tests are based on it.
Overall, Dr. Harper is an amazing professor. If you do not learn by reading though, this class can be difficult as you mainly learn the material from the book. He's a really funny professor and I did enjoy his class. Do not cheat because he will catch you and everything is proctored.
Harper is lowk annoying but his class is beyond easy. Online quizzes every week, 3 or 4 Exams, also online. One group project, you have all semester. Attendance is mandatory, and there is no final exam. He likes to talk and get to know his students and he LOVES the student athletes in his class. Overall he's the only one who teaches this class.
