Reasonably hard but good professor. Very helpful outside of class.

does a good job
His grading system sucks. I didnt like how he taught either.
Very boring class, but he does know his stuff and is willing to work outside of class.
Awesome guy and a good teacher.
two thumbs up!
Wow, this guy rocks. Extremely helpful in person and in email. Very approachable and personable. Highly recommended.
Great teacher!
i wouldn't take DE with him because he doesn't seem to enjoy teaching lower level math courses, but he did do a good job.
He's a nice guy and all that, but if you are taking math just to fulfill your requirement and are not exceptionally good at it, avoid him. He lectures about advanced theory stuff and his lectures are hard to follow because he jumps to irrelevant examples
Goofy, goofy guy. Knows his stuff, but lectures are disorganized. Must read book before tests to fully understand material. Test questions are often from HW, so do it (most of it anyway). Not easy, but curves decently.
OK. one of the most straightforward math profs i've ever had. he makes it clear on what you have to know for a test and prepares you for them adequately. he had an odd curve on things such that 1/3 of the class gets an A, 1/3 B, and a 1/3 below B.
I like his "no BS" lecture style. He's easy to pay attention to and is quite entertaining. He picks on people, but he's a really nice guy.
He's an okay teacher, but sometimes his lectures didn't explain everything for the homework. The book also didn't help when it came to Taylor series.
great instructor. i had him before and made sure to get him again. excited, wants you to learn. materiel could have been more interesting though.
The BEST Professor I have had thus far at Rose! The lectures are very well structured, and he is allways helpfull outside of class.
Best math professor I've ever had (and I've had 10 of them). Will be greatly missed next year when he's on sabbatical.
He doesn't do a good job at explaining math in lamends terms. He's hard to follow in class and doesn't come to class prepared. Test are freakin hard. Class average for tests is a 72.
He never comes to class prepared and his tests are pretty tricky because he tries to trick you. He does a bad job at explaining stuff because he just speaks math and just repeats what he said when you ask him questions. There are better profs than him at Rose.
He really did a great job teaching the material to people who didn't care.
Bleh is all I have to say. Makes calculus seem like a foreign language.
good prof
His tests aren't tricky, but they're ****ing long. He was really helpful tho.
Wow, great teacher, great course. Fascintaing materiel.
Leader assigned tons of work like always. But it wasa goood course.

Dr. Leader is a cool guy. He teaches well. I learned the material without too much pain. He was also really accomodating when special circumstances came up for me. t
He realy worked with me a lot in this class. He was hard, but it was because he cared about me doing well. Thank you Dr. Leader.
This guy is an D*** head he may have known what he was talking about but he treated people like they were very inferior and i hate him
not very helpful when asked question about how to use something on maple responce was look it up in help
very helpful. tests are from homework.
Good class. But now I want to know my grade!!! :)
realy knows his stuff.
WORST TEACHER AT ROSE! You can never miss class or be late. He yelled at a student for asking a question during class. Would frequently be unprepared have us do practice problems from the text instead of teaching us. Once asked for help, and he said "if you don't understand this then you're in sorry shape" and walked away.
HARDEST CLASS SO FAR. 18 hours of homework a week even working with 2 other people. The guy makes things seem easy and then the homework murders you. Avoid this class at all costs. It was the bane of my fall quarter. He's also pretty egotistic, and seems snobby when people as him questions he doesn't deem refined enough. He's smart, though...
This class was terribly difficult and he was one of the least helpful professors I've ever had. His advice was always, "just do better." He is extremely intelligent, but is very arrogant about it and assumes everyone just knows what he's talking about.
terrible teacher. he thinks hes better than you and when you ask for help, he blows you off. also, 12 out of 20 people had to retake his class
Class was very hard and demanding, his lectures were totally useless and the tests were nothing like the homework. AVOID LIKE THE SWINE FLU!!!
Extremely smart but couldn't teach.
he was clear
This teacher destroyed my love of math. He is just grouchy. He is not accommodating. If you are even a few minutes late to class he will not take your homework and he makes you feel stupid if you ask questions. Half the class failed out at midterms and most of the rest have C's. AVOID LEADER!
strick but good
His lectures were boring but he was very helpful in his office.
long tests but ok overall
I loved Leader as a professor. He has a very dry humor which is hilarious if you get it. If you get to know him and talk to him the class goes by very easily. despite what others say he is very reasonable.
Very willing to answer questions in class or office hours, gives reasonable tests, is pretty clear. Downside is he doesn't give scores on any assignments or tests, just letter grades.
Absolutely terrible. I have had my share of both good and not so good professors, but typically the not so good professors were at least willing to answer questions. He yells at students for asking questions and expects students to know how to do things without actually teaching. He likes to skip teaching chapters he feels are "easy." Avoid him.
Worst prof ever. He didn't explain anything and wouldn't even help if you asked a question. He had in class work days and refused to help at all. He was rude and even scared me when I came to class. Never would even approach him outside of class because he made every one feel like an idiot.
I loved how he ran this course. It was just what I needed. More profs should use this method!
I will never choose a class with Professor Leader again.
I will never, ever have another class with this man again. He is by far the worst professor I have ever had in my life.
Frequently goes off on tangents, and can be rude and condescending
Really helpful in his office. Working problems in class really helps.
He's awesome for upper level math electives. Very honest and up front with his students, and loves him some linear algebra. Don't be afraid to use the book
I thought he was pretty funny, but some of my friends didnt. I would take him again. Once you get how he works, its ok.
Very clear with explanations, available for questions, mandatory participation allows for him to give feedback and troubleshoot where a student may have a misunderstanding. At least for summer session, test problems were from the book so there were not any trick questions and more practice actually helped. Very fair and best math prof I've had.
Very good lectures. HW and tests are very easy and reinforce with things taught in the class very well. However, his exams do count heavily to the grade and it is apparent that not everybody likes him as much. Maybe ask around if considering to choose him.
Leader is a very tough grader. He does not give much partial credit, and he is very, very egotistical. Also, he might be great for higher math, but awful for lower math. Do not take him for calculus. But he does give some participation points to boost your grade. If this is your first introduction to calc, do not take him.
lectured almost everyday- terrible handwriting difficult to follow kinda funny--but weird his exams are from book questions so this is his only saving grace I think he is smart but he forgets this is our first go around and probably his 20th. Instead of making it easy for us to learn he is very challenging.
For Calc 1, he was a little rough and most people passed my section with a C at most. He grades pretty hard, but is a good teacher. Many things he says and how he talks may go over your head and make it more confusing.
Do NOT take Leader. He is a decent human being but not the person you want making your tests and grading your tests. He makes his exams worth 95% of your grade while homework is only 5%. His exams are nearly impossible and will NOT curve them. My class average was a 62%. We also had over half the class fail or drop. DO NOT TAKE HIM!
He is a very smart professor who knows what he was teaching very thoroughly. However, he was not very helpful in explaining the content. During class, he would not take questions that interrupt his lecture, he could not explain things multiple ways, and did not help prepare for his tests which were not easy tests.
Extremely interesting lectures and extremely interesting guy, that being said he grades incredibly hard and inconsistent, its almost random. He wasn't very interested in the material either and it really showed. I am serious when I say half the class failed. He is also kind of mean if you ask dumb questions so if its not necessary to ask don't.
Did not care about students. Went off on random tangents almost every day about things that did not relate all to the subject at all.
The worst professor I have ever met. He teaches nothing (Don't have any videos or lectures for online classes and just let everyone teaches himself/herself !) and just email you homework and project stuff. He is a very lazy professor and please never take his class.
Dr. Leader does not lecture. He instead has you learn from either reading the textbook or from watching MIT Open Courseware lectures. Also, he has 1-2 quizzes every week, and has 2 mandatory groupwork meetings, where you and your partner work though problems, while he does nothing. Not horrible if you know the material, but literally doesn't teach.
Grader for this class... It's bad Homework is insane. In other classes, I get about 4 problems a day, due 3 days later. For this class? 7 problems a day, due at 5pm same day Lecture consistency? Not a thing. Sometimes it's "read the book", sometimes 2hrs of videos 50% of the grade is quizzes, and he'll dock 40% for algebra Don't take him please
Nothing about this class is good. If you want helpful lectures or anything helpful at all, don't take this class. Don't take this prof at all, for any class, if you want to learn anything and actually succeed. Homework is awful, get ready to do every single problem from the book with absolutely no guidance and no knowledge of how to do anything.
Dr. Leader is an experienced engineer, however not as great of a teacher. He lectures solely out of the book, and most of what he said flew straight over my head. I had to teach myself the material to prepare for exams. Exams are worth 30% of your grade each. He is funny, and applies the material to real world things, but doesn't teach the material
As a student who's had arguably some of the worst math profs at Rose, Dr. Leader is an EVEN WORSE professor. Exams were worth 95% of the grade for Calc III, and questions were nothing like the homework. If you fail his first exam, he even hands you a drop request. If you are stuck with him, good luck.
You quite literally learn more doing the homework than attending class, so you may as well not even show up to class and instead hammer the book into your head. It all doesn't matter though: if you get less than a 50% on the first exam, man LITERALLY hands you the form to drop the class. If you are bad at taking exams, do not take this class.
I loved Leader's class. The entire grade is determined largely by two midterms and the final, making up 95% of the grade. That being said the exams are based entirely on problems from the texbook which he assigns for homework. All in all, do the homework, don't use chegg, and study the textbook and you will pass the class.
I would rather quit Rose-Hulman than take another class with Leader. This class's textbook was the only one I've read every word of, because you won't pass otherwise. Never teaches, only brags about how smart he is; lectures only made me more confused. Exams are impossible, homework is necessary to learn. Avoid at all costs, he needs fired ASAP.
Imagine the text-to-speech function on your Ebook but with some personality. You enroll in his class to hear him read off the book for 50 minutes then go on a tangent on how smart he was when he was your age. Hard grader and a bad teacher. Don't be fooled by his friendly demeanor. You are better off reading the textbook than sitting in his class.
Dr. Leader's style of teaching is not good for those with little time (basically every Rose student ever). He lectures heavily on theory in his class and does little to no examples. I felt like going to class was a waste of time because I would need to relearn how to actually do the problems later. Only upside is he answers questions out of class.
Dr. Leader is the worst prof I've had at Rose. He does almost no example problems and his lectures consist of him reading from the textbook or going off on random tangents about himself. He doesn't care about his students and actually acts like he WANTS people to fail or drop his class. Save yourself, run away from him and his creepy uncle vibes.
By far and away the worst Prof I have had so far. His lectures are abysmal as he reads off of the textbook and goes on and on about how great of a mathematician he is. No help during his office hours and acts like he wants people to fail. The average on the first exam was so bad he refused to share the average and 95% of your grade are exams. AVOID
This class material was not that hard, but with this professor it made it 10x harder. His handwriting is near impossible to read. His grading on his test is very specific and you need to explain everything you did and get everything exactly correct for full credit. 1st exam average was 38%.
Easily the worst prof I've had at Rose. He doesn't do any actual teaching, forgot to give us the textbook, has horrendous grade weighting and has made multiple comments with sexual implications. His mind is so far gone that he thinks poor grades are all the student's fault, not his. May God have mercy on this man because my course eval will not.
The biggest hit against Dr. Leader is his styling of teaching isnt for everyone. He can be funny sometimes but I always left class feeling like I never actually learned anything. If it were not for lots of Youtube videos I would have easily failed the class. 60% of your grade is based off of 10 total questions from exams.
To call Leader a teacher would be an insult to the hard working teachers at Rose. His "teaching" style was that of an audio book on 5x speed as he reads directly from the book and treats everything as review. He was truly the worst teacher I ever had and its very odd how his rating is so high on this website as over half my grade dropped/failed.
Jeff is terrible. Wasted so much of my time and made this course significantly harder than necessary. Please avoid if possible.
He's just bad; please avoid him at all costs.
Dr. Leader is a solid lecturer. Tests are 95% of the grade, so ensure you study. He is a fair grader. Homework is reasonably intensive but is a small percent of the grade.
Great lectures, if you go to class and pay attention and do the homework, there is no way that you cannot get an A
Actually the worst prof at Rose. His lectures consist of just reading the book. He works through ZERO examples in class. He also writes tough exams and will take off points for the smallest things. Homework is worth a total of 2% of your grade so if you mess up on an exam you are screwed for the rest of the class. If I could give him a zero I would
