Appell is one of those professors that reminds you why you are a psych major. Every time i sign up for a psych class i hope to see his name on the list for the course. He is very clear and wants you to understand the concepts. Relates everything to real life situations so you can relate to it better. He is my number one recommendation.

You will enjoy the lectures. Fun, engaging. Lecturing is the only thing he seems to enjoy. can be a bit disorganized and assignments are vague. Grading is odd. No office hours (walk with him after class). No email replies. Slides, exams, books not of same edition so can be confusing as some things are outdated. LOT of written work 12+ papers.

Prof. Appell is an amazing teacher and by the end of the semester, you will learn a lot! There are a lot of short- written assignments that aren't due until finals, so you can consider it as "homework". Be sure to keep up with those assignments. Tests are straightforward. He gives you a study guide. Lowest test dropped. Class is very entertaining!

Make sure u go every class. He shows videos that u need to write at in ur pro folio. Make sure u do every e.c b./c his grading is different. Study slides mainly and know statistics in slides. He's a funny guy and looks approachable but he's not that approachable if I'm being honest. Overall, great teachers I actually learned a lot from him.

Would never take him again! He expects you to come to his classes when he shows up 30 minutes late every single class. If you want an easy A take him, but I pay for my classes and I'm here to learn something. Worst teacher ever I don't even know how he got hired at CSUN. Really needs to learn how to be more professional. Gives you answers to tests.

Prof. Appell is really good at what he does. I would not call this an easy class but it is reasonable. He is charismatic when delivering lectures. He is not very approachable on a one-on-one basis but he is professional.

Appell is so nice & his test are easy. If you study for 3 hours before you will get an A. The portfolios are graded on wether you do the assignments or not (NOT THE CONTENT). The genogram is the most annoying assignment but he gives you credit if you have at least 35 members. Dont worry about it he gives u directions but as long as u turn it in.

The genogram is very annoying.... But I think its doable. Overall this is an interesting class. I dont think i would take him again. He expects to much.

Professor Appell does not give a lot of homework for his PSY 312 class and the tests are fairly easy as long as you've been going to classes and looked over your notes. He's funny and clearly cares about everything he teaches about which comes through in his lectures. He's understanding and an overall fun professor to have.

This guy is awesome! His lectures are pretty heavy on material but he literally tells you what is going to be on the test. The work amount is just right because duh its an upper division course. Alot of memorization so be prepared. I recommend this class and him as your professor. He is literally amazing. LITERALLY.

He is an okay professor. The only annoying part is that he mandates attendance. In my opinion, if youre confident of your content, you done need to force people to attend. Also, he has a not my problem attitude that I didnt like.

He really is a great professor. I loved this class, I'm going to miss it. I feel like it's important for anyone regardless of major to take a parenting class like this at some point if they can. The tests are fairly easy, a few write-ups and videos we have to watch. It's fun and there's also a guest speaker presentation about abusive relationships.

This professor has no sympathy for his students. Ironic considering he's a psychology professor and the current pandemic. He gives useless busy work and his final was a joke. He'll make you buy the book but you won't use it.

Very straightforward, kind, caring and knowledgable professor. He gives roughly 1 activity to do outside of class and a week to turn them in. His grading seems to be based off of effort and some proper correct output of understanding. Clear grading and course material. I learned so much from his class. Class participation is definitely encouraged.

Grades based on effort done on the assignment. He truly cares for students, he's funny, and you learn a lot about yourself and the real world. Definitely take him!

Honestly, I was prepared to drop him the 1st week because he made it seem like it was impossible to get an A in his class. You have a book to read, a chapter test on that once a week, a paper to write, and your final which is half multiple choice and half-written short answers. You have to attend class, it makes up a good chunk of your grade!
