Scares you on the first day by saying it's a really hard class but if just interact in class and listen to the spelled out instructions that he gives you all the papers and tests you have become basically opinionated with no wrong answer as long as you formulate them the way he tells you to.

The BEST teacher I have had thus far at GVSU. Keeps you awake in his lectures and allows students to talk and debate with him but he is never degrading to your opinion. Professor Byrnes is amazing. Very funny guy, makes class very enjoyable. But if you don't do the readings you will fall behind. Theres 7 reading quizzes throughout the whole semester, 2 papers (1000 word minimum). Be ready to read and PARTICIPATE! Ask questions, he will explain anything. Loved the class.

God awful. Its impossible to take good notes in his class. He loves pop quizzes, doesn't care at all what grade you get, and doesn't give even remotely good feedback on assignments. He also takes so long to grade papers that the next paper is due by the time he grades the previous one so you cant even learn from the last one.

Professor Byrnes is a genius in philosophy and his lecture are very entertaining. He is a very tough grader. Exams are written five paragraph essays. You also will have a philosophical essay that is difficult. You will learn a lot and I highly recommend taking this class if this is your major, but not if you want an easy A.

Professor Byrnes is a good professor but you have to show up to lectures to get the notes. Also goes very fast through the lectures making it hard to take good notes. Your grade is based off of pop quizzes, an essay, and two essay based exams. The exams are essays in which he gives you essay prompts to study and a few will appear on the exam.

Jeffery Byrnes is a professor who's very passionate about what he teaches and he really cares about his students. This is a pretty difficult course for a gened, but if you do the readings and then you'll do fine. Professor Byrnes can come across as rude or arrogant at times, but you have to learn to not take him too seriously and just laugh.

He's a great professor who is hilarious! There are only a few things, so do the work and the readings! He is a fair grader and gets back to you fast. Only complaint is that he doesn't post grades which sucks.

Most inspiring professor I have had . Taught me life skills to take with outside of class. He is tough, I think the real world is tougher. Not much to say just this was a class where I learned the most about myself and my own morals. I also learned new morals and principles.

Jeffrey Byrnes is an amazing person and professor. Although it's very lecture heavy, he always keeps his lectures interesting and fun. He uses great realistic yet funny examples. Your grade depends on the pop quizzes on the readings, and 3 essays. It's a challenging course, but if you're willing to put effort in it won't be too bad.

He is very caring and can come across as rude, but he is just very sarcastic. You will be graded on pop quizzes about the readings and three essays. Honestly, I barely put any effort into the essays and always got above a B on them. He tries his best to get you involved and to understand the material the best he can. One of the best profs I've had

Great prof, only wants what's best for you. Attendance isn't taken, but there are random pop quizzes, so it's best to show up. 3 essays (exams) you will have throughout the semester, and try to engage in class as much as you can. He is a very sweet person, just sarcastic, so don't take it to heart. Would easily take him again.

Such an amazing professor! He can come off a bit tough but he's basically a giant teddy bear on the inside. Dry humor and a fun guy who wants you to learn and succeed, he's easily accessible as well. His class is a bit tougher material wise and grading is essentially all quizzes and exams but he's an easier grader and gives exams questions before!

I took Proffesor Byrnes for his philosophy and ethics of health course and it was my favorite class I've taken ! Lectures are awesome and engaging. The class is both interesting and challenging. As long as you pay attention in lecture you will do well but it is not an easy class necessarily but beneficial. Just don't expect a blow off class.
