He teaches you so much in a semester, but makes learning fun. I was always excited to go to this class. His tests are straightforward, and you know what to expect beforehand. I can't wait to take another class from him.

Great Prof! I loved the class, and learned tons about other religions! CAn't be beat!
Great teacher. Teaches an interesting viewpoint. Tests not that bad. Pay attention in lectures and ask question and you'll do well.
Great Class. I learned a lot. Not hard. He knows what he's talking about. Used to do the Jerusalem Center. I recomend the class.
Bro. Chadwick is such an awesome teacher!! You learn a ton about other religions, and he helps you appreciate them. He also compares them to the gospel, and you can tell that even though he is so interested in other religions, he has an unshakable testimony in the gospel. Great class and teacher!!
FAN-FREAKIN-TASTIC. That's all I have to say.
Class is very interesting and you learn a lot of useful information. Tests are all matching and are mostly based on vocabulary. Easy class.
Very interesting class, I learned a ton. The tests were cake if you studied for them. I strongly recommend the class and the teacher.
Amazing. His knowledge of the jewish religion is incredible. And that he can tie it into the gospel is unbelieveable. I really, really liked his class and him. For anyone even slightly interested in learning the connection between Mormons and Jews, I highly recommend this class.
He is an amazing teacher!!! You learn so much from this class because the love he has for the Jewish people shines through in his teaching. The tests are super easy if you do the reading.
Take this class! It's one credit and so easy. The tests are matching and not bad at all. You have to write a short essay every week, but they're not graded. This guy knows his stuff, and I thought the class was really interesting. I'm looking forward to taking his world religions class.
Good class and i learned alot, however it is nearly impossible to get an A at 96 precent. The final was difficult and i dont understand where he pulled some of the questions from, other than that it was one of my best classes i've taken at byu
This guy is HI-larious! He brought the NT into an entire new light for me. It was sooooo interesting. He is very clear, I found it very relaxing to simply sit back and enjoy his lectures.
My favorite religion teacher on campus by far. Learned a ton about the 4 gospels from him. Take him if you get the chance.
Such a good class!!! He is such a good teacher and I swear he practically is a Jew. I loved this class! Class is very easy, and yet SO interesting and I learned so much!
This is a lot harder than a 1 credit class should be. Unless you are really interested in learning about the history of the Jews (not modern), then don't take this and take a religion class where you won't fall asleep.
A one credit class does not need such tedious midterms and finals. It is semi interesting, however it is pretty much straight lecture, rarely any class discussion. Meh.
I loved Professor Chadwick! His knowledge of other reglions was impressive and his classes were fun. I had the lecture at 8 am and I still enjoyed it. There is a lot of information to learn for the test but if you study for them you will be fine. Great class!
I really enjoyed this class. It was VERY interesting. Bro. Chadwick was a VERY good teacher. His notes were very organized and easy to understand. His tests are matching and mainly vocabulary. This class does require a bit of memorization, but it's not bad. Overall, really good professor and class.
Just a great class. The teacher was great and very funny. Nothing hard about it. Very interesting insights to the 2nd half of the New Testament that I have never heard anywhere else. Highly Recommended. You won't regret it!
Easy class and great teacher. I usually struggle with religion classes but this was cake. Just copy all the notes into your scriptures and you will do great on the tests cause you can use them.
Nice guy, interesting class. Fairly easy and doesn't require much work. He really knows his stuff (sometimes he came across as a tad arrogant) and I enjoyed his lectures. I definitely recommend his class.
Very interesting. Easy East Tests. I got 100% on the midterm and 98% on the final. This class provides a good background of judaism to our mormon views.
Brother Chadwick was awesome! He was so interesting. I had him in the Spring and the 2 hours flew by! His tests aren't that hard and he lived in Israel and knows Hebrew. He taught me things that were so interesting. I would definetly take a class from him again. One of my favorite classes. I definetly recommend him.
I loved this class. Brother Chadwick knows his stuff and classes were always interesting. 1 page reading responses every week, but only on one chapter. Yu get attendance points. the test is matching and multiple choice.
Chadwick is the man. He can answer any question you have about the New Test. Howework is easy tests are open scripture, yet I learned more in this religion class than most. Take him. He is great.
Jeff Chadwick honestly loves what he does, which makes the class more enjoyable. He is so religiously open-minded, sometimes I wonder which religion he's actually practicing (that was a joke). I reccommend him whether you need religion credit or not.
Taught stuff you can't get from anyone else, the most amazing religion teacher ever. Tests were fairly difficult but very reasonable. TAKE THIS CLASS
His tests are in a format that is ridiculously hard. It's like he is trying to trick you. Plus he gets side tracked in class a lot so I think there are things he thinks he has taught, but he hasn't.
Professor Chadwick loves the subject (Judaism and the Gospel) and has had experience living in Jerusalem. He knows what he's talking about and, though he sometimes has opinions that other religion professors might not agree with, he doesn't force the students to share his opinions.
HE HAS INSPIRED ME TO GO TO THE JERUSALEM CENTER!!! He's such and awesome teacher! He's basically a mormon rabbi :) He's funny too! He knows what he's talking about. His midterm was VERY easy...I got a 98% on it. Take this class!!!!!!
let me put it plainly. IF YOU WANT TO LEARN SOMETHING NEW, TAKE THIS CLASS. He starts a little slow (took us 3 weeks to get past the nativity), but you learn a LOT of new material every day. Test are only hard in proportion to class topics ignored
THE BEST RELIGION PROFESSOR ON CAMPUS! ONE OF THE BEST PROFESSORS PERIOD! You'll learn more than you think. You won't be able to stop thinking about his lessons. Take both REL A 211 and REL C 351. Also take his Judaism class. You won't regret it!
He is a very interesting lecturer. He knows his stuff about the religions of the world. His tests aren't bad. They are multiple choice. You get one point a day for attendance. The only homework is a 500 word summary of a reading once a week. Not too bad at all.
This guy is really not as good as people say. I took his class based on these ratings. He's fairly easy but don't think you can slack. I didn't think he was insightful at all.
Brother Chadwick made a pretty dreary subject very interesting, and tells you exactly what you need to know on the exams, making his class easy as long as you do the homework assignments. 2 very short very easy papers, and you have the perfect class! I am taking every class I can with him for the rest of my BYU career.
Great professor. Easy class for sure. One midterm and a final, all multiple choice. Sure, you had one assignment due every week, but it was an email response to the chapter you read. Extra points at the end for attending class. Go to class, read the chapters, and you'll get an A.
Prof. Chadwick is a great teacher. He loves the subject and makes it very interesting. His tests are not bad if you study your notes.
Prof. Chadwick is amazing! I learned so much in his class. He loves the students and what he teaches. His tests are way easy, just do the study guides. Take all the religion classes you can from him.
I loved this class! My friend told me to take it, but I was skeptical. He blew me away! You come out understanding heritage, history, and present times and how they relate to your life. Take every class you can from him! Great tests, little HW, and class are discussion. He's the best!!! He loves to teach, and you won't want to miss a day!
His tests were all matching about different things that the book covers and that he covered in class. Doesn't really explain the concepts very well adn you could get through teh class cramming for the tests all the concepts in the book and never going to class.
I loved professor Chadwick! To some people he may come across a little "know-it-all-ish", but that is because he really does know a ton! His experiences as an Archaeologist really makes the Book of Mormon come alive!! He's way chill about attendance and understands that life happens. I'd take any class from him.
Nice guy, but not very clear on certain concepts. Tests were all matching, but he hands out the study guide only the day before the tests. Plus, a lot of terms on the test are not on the study guide. He's definitely passionate about the subject.
Chadwick is an incompetent teacher, in my opinion. He tries to make up for it, by making his tests very easy, but there was almost no set schedule, his lectures are disjointed, he acts like a know it all, and yet very little of what he taught had gospel backing.
He's one of those teachers everyone has to have!! Absolute best teacher, he makes class really fun and interactive and spends more time answering your questions as opposed to lecturing. He gives you the answers to every test so if you make any sort of effort it's an easy A. He's been accused of singlehandedly inflating grades at BYU
I took REL211 from Chadwick, and I absolutely loved it. It took a practical look at the life of Christ, and his teachings. It definitely strengthened my testimony by learning about his life on earth really was. He's a wonderful guy, he's funny, and he keeps the class entertaining. Take him if you can!
Bro. Chadwick is a facinating teacher--take world religions from him! It's a great class--however, his tests don't follow his study guides so even if you have the study guide memorized, you won't necessarily do well on the test. Just know the chapters perfectly! He's a helpful and well-read teacher.
He's a great professor- super funny and extremely knowledgeable. He's very passionate about the subject matter and has a lot of first-hand knowledge about it, as well. He wants you to do well and will help you if you put forth the effort. His tests are more difficult than I expected, but not impossible. Excellent class, and an excellent professor.
Amazing! World Survey of Religions could not have been better. Prof.Chadwick is amazing and class isn't hard. You turn in a weekly journal of 2 paragraphs about a weekly reading. That's it. You can actually sit in class with no worries (unless you don't do the assignments-which are simple) and enjoy the Spirit.
I found this class fascinating. I enjoy learning from life experience and not just from text books. He is funny and slips inside jokes into his lectures and tests. There is loads of gospel backing to his lessons. If you don't see that, then you are not paying attention. I'd take any class taught by him.
great informative class. not a lot of homework. great background to have, enlightens understanding of Old and New Testaments. he has genuine experience to back it up.
I love Bro. Chadwick! Probably the best professor I've ever had. Because of his incredible knowledge, his lectures are very interesting and go in depth of the context surrounding events during Christ's ministry. You only have to write a couple short papers and do daily chapter summaries. Tests are rediculously easy. The study guide was the final!
Great class to fill a religion requirement and Global awareness GE. Chadwick is super passionate about the subject and a great guy. Read the textbook, do the weekly assignments, go to class, memorize tons of terms and you will get an A. I would recommend him for sure.
Professor Chadwick is little eccentric, but I love it. He really knows what he's talking about, and I really appreciated the way he taught - it was entertaining at the same time as being very instructive. I really learned a lot in his class.
I absolutely LOVE Chaddy! He taught at the Jerusalem Center, so I got to know him personally. He is SO knowledgeable about all things Jewish, Israeli, archaeological, etc. Sometimes he has a bit of an ego ;) but justifiably so! He'd make up songs to help us remember things and dress up like Indiana Jones-- SO funny, wonderful man. TAKE HIS CLASS!
Overall, the class is easy and fun. Chadwick manages to keep lessons flowing, and the hour passes quickly. Midterms and finals are easy multiple choice, and homework is a 300 page summary each week over a given chapter or article. Expect only an hour of homework a week.
If you're looking for an easy A, then you've found your guy. Reading and weekly summaries of your reading are required. The tests are multiple choice and come straight out of the handouts he gives. Warning: He's a little bit crazy. This is not as much of a spiritual class as it is a learn all these crazy OPINIONS about Christ and his life.
Rel 351 with Chadwick is an amazing class! Bro. Chadwick is brilliant, engaging, and straightforward. I highly enjoyed learning from him every class. The tests are all vocabulary, so know every term from the slides and every other word he says to review from the book. Inspiring professor. He loves the subject and loves teaching. Highly recommended.
Best. Professor. Ever. Chadwick's class really changed my semester. The grading process is easy and clear, but you still learn a ton. He is an anthropologist and lives in Jerusalem part of the year, and his insights were incredible. I will be taking more classes from him!
I didn't like this class. Bro. Chadwick is really biased in his opinions, appears to be teaching false doctrine half the time, and always insists that he is right. He stutters and mumbles the whole time so sitting in class was sooo annoying. Nice guy, but not good at teaching.
The tests are harder than you think. They are all 100 questions and all matching. The test is mostly vocabulary terms and definitions including dates and important events and leaders. Brother Chadwick is very knowledgeable and a funny guy. But keep in mind the tests are a large part of your overall grade.
My eyes came out of this class with a whole new understanding of the Jewish religion and culture. I of course took the course where he is most expert in. I don't know what kind of teacher he is while not teaching this class but it was amazing! I deeply appreciate this once a week class. I learned so much. You come out of this class remembering.
Professor Chadwick is a very eccentric man, which makes his classes amusing as well as interesting. His class is incredibly easy and the tests are all matching, so as long as you learn vocab, you can easily ace the tests.
Very enthusiastic about Judaism! His lectures don't seem to do much with what we're tested on, but it's still a pretty interesting class.
Going to lecture is like getting to watch your favorite TV show every week. Prof. Chadwick is witty, funny, deeply knowledgeable, sensitive, tolerant and outgoing. The course itself is remarkably well-organized, always relevant, as is the testing. Moreover, he succeeds at teaching potentially controversial ideas non-controversially.
Professor Chadwick is absolutely fantastic. If you go to class and read the books and study, you will receive an A. you do have to put work into it, but it is easy to receive a good grade if you are willing to put in the work. He's a fantastic, non-biased teacher and I love him. I absolutely recommend taking this or ANY class from him.
The book tests are easy. Watch out for the second test though on the in class content. It's a toughy. Great teacher though. Cares about educating the students. A lot.
You are required to read two books throughout the semester. An exam is given for each. The other tests consist of lecture material. His class is not very entertaining. There are assignment due throughout the semester, but they are pretty easy.
Really helpful and knowledgeable about the New Testament. If you're looking for a class where you can learn a lot, and not have to put in an overwhelming amount of time or effort, this is the class for you.
Takes 96 percent to get an A. You can only miss 12/300 points in the entire class. The tests are pretty straightforward, though. Be sure to read the books early and carefully and then record/re-listen to the lectures. You definitely have to study, but if you work hard (or have a strong background in Judaism/Islam) then you can get an A.
Boy oh boy Professor Chadwick was great. In addition to being hilarious and beyond entertaining, I learned so much about the Jewish and Islamic faiths. This is information which I feel is necessary in this day in age.
I enjoyed this class. His grading scale is ridiculous, 96% for an A. But it is manageable if you do well on his tests. Just take notes on everything for the power points because they'll be on the test. He doesn't post slides on learning suite. Attendance is mandatory. 2 small books to read during semester. 4 tests. Good class overall!
Entertaining professor with encyclopedic knowledge of Judaism and Islam. Attendance mandatory. Judaism book is great, Islam book is kinda dry. Grading scale is wack - 96% is an A. Six 300-word write-ups on articles assigned. 4 exams, closed book. Study guides he gives are great, though. Enjoyable class overall.
He really knows his stuff and really likes to talk. We had a lot of good class discussions. The course itself isn't hard, just make sure you don't wait until the last second to read the texts.
This is definitely a hard class for the credit you get. Two books of reading, and prior knowledge of some Hebrew or Jewish history definitely would help. I took this as a Freshman and I got a higher grade in Chem 105 than I did in this religion class. Just be aware you're in for the long haul when you take up for this. But interesting material!
He's a way cool dude. Not much work outside of class and he does a really good job preparing you for the tests. The tests are online so you don't even need to go to the testing center, which is fabulous. Also, you pretty much get full points on all essays just for turning them in on time.
Prof. Chadwick is very lecture heavy. He never gets to all the material because he takes so much time talking about Jerusalem and Jewish culture. He is very opinionated and you are tested on how he teaches things not necessarily how youve read it elsewhere. This class was more of a history class than a religion class.
This class is a great class if you are interested in foreign religions. I learned a lot and Professor Chadwick is great teacher. You need a 96% for an A, but there are only four tests and six short write ups that are all pretty easy. If you go to class and listen you should get an easy A and learn a lot.
Chadwick loves Judaism, so it's hard to stomach how clearly he looks down on Islam 2nd term. Instead of teaching the 5 pillars of Islam, he spends a day trying to convince you "mozlem" is an ok pronounciation of Muslim, despite the fact the book he assigns says that's incorrect. Do the book study guides & memorize dates & you'll pull the 96% A.
Bro. Chadwick was a good professor. I enjoyed hearing his take on Judaism and Islam. The 96% cutoff for an A was worrisome at first, but it's pretty doable if you study well enough for the tests. His lectures were pretty interesting, and I liked the readings he selected. I found the class to be an overall enjoyable experience.
Professor Chadwick is an amazing teacher. His lectures are entertaining and hilarious. His class is not hard, but filled with good information. I valued every class I went to and I'm looking to take a class from him again. His tests are very easy and he teaches you to keep an open mind.
He is a great lecturer, gives easy homework, study guides, and easy tests. You still learn lots of spiritually and intellectually enlarging things. He is everything you came to this school to experience.
Loved prof Chadwick as a person. Lectures could feel long but usually very interesting. He teaches religion very differently and I loved what we learned about because it wasn't like any other class. An A is a 96 though and mainly dependent on the midterm/final. Weekly hw and a few papers don't count for much.
Professor Chadwick is a very experienced and sincere teacher. His lectures are very entertaining. Judaism is taught for first half of semester, and Islam is taught for second half. The content/homework is VERY well organized and in my opinion, entertaining. Class is not heavy at all on busy work, but there is reading and exams on those readings.
The 96% required to get an A at first is daunting. It really isn't a hard grade to get. The class is a very good class.
Half of the test questions are direct quotes from the reading. The other half are straight from his lectures. Attendance is almost a third of the grade. Only real bad thing is the grading scale is 96 for an A. Pretty easy and fun class to take. He does his best to leave his personal opinion out of sensitive discussions and only focus on the history
Even though it takes a 96% for an A, it is definitely do-able. Tests are very easy but require straight memorization, don't put it off too much. Also offers extra credit to help out, very little homework.
I LOVE Jeff Chadwick with my whole heart. His class was super easy, interesting, and inspirational. This class is such a fun treat. Show up, enjoy lecture, read the books he assigns (which are short and informative) and take a couple tests that reflect exactly (!) what we learned in class.. and you're good to go! He is such an amazing person. 10/10
Professor Chadwick is such a great guy. He's had tons of experience in the Middle East and definitely knows what he's talking about. Just do the assignments and you'll be fine. The only hard part about the class is making time to read the two books required. Other than that, be sure to take notes on the lectures, there are 2 exams on class lecture.
This course has been my favorite religion class thus far! Professor Chadwick is a spectacular professor that I look forward to hearing from. If you take good notes during class and complete your assignments, you're in a good spot to study for tests and to get an A.
So easy!! I took it for global awareness. The tests are all online and they're based on 2 books and then 2 lecture tests. Attend class, read the books before the tests, take notes on them all and youll be totally good. Such an easy A
Brother Chadwick is amazing! I appreciated the respectful way he discusses other cultures and religions, and I learned a lot. He is a dynamic speaker but also very down-to-earth. You definitely need to study for the tests, but he is clear and fair about what will be on them, so you are set up for success. Two great books for the textbooks! A joy.
He really knows what he's talking about, and has real respect for Islam and Judaism. It's not too much work: attendance, 4 midterms, and some reading responses (300 words each, only graded on grammar). A few test questions were kind of unfair though (subjective or outside what we discussed). An A is 96, so this was kind of a problem for me.
Loved this class from Professor Chadwick! He really cares about Islam and Judaism and teaches it beautifully. There're 4 tests, 2 on books, 2 on lectures. Otherwise points are on attendance and responding to readings. He's a great teacher, and really cares about his students! Only bummer is 96% is an A. If you can answer study guide q's you're good
Prof Chadwick is a stellar professor. I don't usually feel the need to leave reviews, but I had a great time taking his class. Straightforward teaching style, no surprises on the test. Super doable. He makes his lectures fairly light hearted. He's a huge football fan so don't be alarmed when his two minute warning goes off every class haha!
I love Brother Chadwick! He is super understanding about extensions on papers and missed attendance. Tests are super easy and online--just find someone to give you the notes if you missed class.
I LOVE BROTHER CHADWICK!!!!!!!!!! Survey of Judaism and Islam with him was definitely my favorite class ever. He is so captivating, and as someone who has studied these religions and the Middle East for his whole life, he has so much to say. He is very respectful with how he teaches other religions. Go to class and make sure to read the two books!!
Prof. Chadwick knows a lot about what he's teaching, but he's really condescending about it. He'll cut off questions before they're even fully asked. Basically, his way of thinking is the only way of thinking. And if you want an A, you better plan on missing no more than 2 questions on each test. Still learned a lot, but not my favorite atmosphere
Professor Chadwick is the best!! He gives so many extra credit opportunities, you really don't need to worry about your grade. Just show up and listen to his lectures. He's so passionate and knows what he's talking about. TAKE THIS CLASS!
This was a pretty cool religion class. You have to read a lot, but the tests aren't too hard if you study. I liked Professor Chadwick, he was a cool guy and interesting teacher. I would recommend this as a good religion class for those extra religion credits.
Bro Chadwick has a ton of experience in the middle east and knows a lot about the Muslim and Jewish communities. You'll learn a lot of history! You learn the doctrine of each faith from 2 textbooks (test at the end of each) and the history (incl dates!)from the lectures (2 tests over lecture). A is 96 or higher but lots of extra cred. Loved it!!
Prof Chadwick is my FAV, he's so funny and caring. His class is easy as long as you pay attention and read the books. The semester is broken up into Judaism and Islam halves with two exams, and several reading responses in each. Offers extra credit and all tests (four in total) are on learning suite, so that was nice. He has a lot of stories lol
I think Professor Chadwick is incredible. His lectures were amazing. I learned so much. HIs knowledge of Islam and christianity is ridiculous.
If you want an easy A, take his class. His lectures are long and I found them hard to follow. I liked the material the class covered, but I dreaded going to lectures because they were confusing & slow. When answering questions, he will interpret them how he wants to, which can cause frustration.
I can't believe some of the people who have bad-mouthed Chadwick--the man is a saint!! Best religion class (and teacher) ever!
Lectures are a little unorganized, but Chadwick more than makes up for it with his knowledge of the subject. Half the tests are straight from a study guide. I learned a ton about the religions in this class and didn't have to stress about my grade. He's sent out weekly emails since the switch to remote learning which really shows how much he cares.
Dr. Chadwick is a great professor who wants his students to succeed. He gave us all the information that we needed to know to pass the tests and succeed. In this class, an A was 96%, which seems really high, but if you put in the work, it's an easy A. I learned a lot and enjoyed most of his lectures. Overall a good experience.
He repeats himself a lot from class to class, but he's really nice and not boring. Take good notes and you'll do fine. Study guides perfectly tell you what will be on the tests. The work is not too time consuming. And Judaism and Islam are a fascinating topic. I've heard from some that not all his info is accurate, but to my understanding it was.
Professor Chadwick is a great, caring guy. His lectures just aren't terribly engaging. He uses the first 20 minutes of class to go over due dates and pointless administration, then uses the last 30 minutes to ramble about a question that a student asked about something, rarely actually answering the actual question. I don't feel like I learned much
Professor Chadwick is awesome! He is an amazing storyteller and really knows his stuff. Take his class! He also makes it very doable. If you just put in a little bit of work, then you'll be able to do well in the class.
Dr. Chadwick is awesome! He really knows about Judaism and Islam and has lived in the Middle East for over 20 years. You'll learn so much and he is so respectful of other cultures and beliefs. You definitely need to study for his exams but it's not impossible. Definitely would take his class again!
The worst lecturer I've ever seen. I had to teach myself most of the class material through the assigned books. The tests are extremely memorization based. Also, he says he's the most politically conservative professor on campus. Take that as you will.
Professor Chadwick is the best! It's clear that he knows a lot about and loves what he teachers. I learned a lot in his class and really enjoyed it. Easy "A" if you use the study guides he provides.
I loved this class! Professor Chadwick definitely spent a lot of time on slightly off topic tangents, but I still learned everything I needed to in class. Assignments were easy and he's very clear about what's expected, if sometimes a little late. Overall, I really enjoyed his class
4 memorize-based exams. Regret taking it:( Doing other rel classes would be much easier since I already know the concepts. 2 exams are based on two books you read in your own time. Use flashcards and memorize ALL of the vocabulary. This class it's like taking another language course that aren't gonna do any good in my life. 7 small essays.
This class is a hidden gem here at BYU. Dr. Chadwick brings the gathering of Israel to life in his lectures and you can tell he has been studying this his whole life. What made this class even better was that he is a lot more focused on you establishing a base for future study, so the assignments and tests aren't hard.
He spends at least 20 minutes (sometimes 30) at the start of each class by going over what assignments are due, and other random things that he cares to share. Sometimes its nice to have a reminder, but I'm pretty sure he spent more time talking about BYU football than Judiasm or Islam. Its not a super hard class, but it felt like a waste of time
Professor Chadwick is HILARIOUS. He's like the grandpa you always wanted and says random things just like a grandpa OUT OF NO WHERE. His best quote, Sorry Im late, but now Im ready to let her rip. His lectures are a bit dry but this class is super easy. If you do the assignment you get 100%. He knows his stuff and is just a nice guy
Great Guy! Really cares about the student. He bases his class mainly on the 4 test grades. He provides interesting and minimal biased analysis on different religions. He also has pretty cool stories too. Definitely one of the best religion classes of the semester. Just make sure to read the books and take notes in class. You'll do good!
You can tell how much he cares about what he teaches, and he makes you love it too. He gives you plenty of warning on any assignments, and they are not bad at all. There are two books that you read, but you have the whole semester and he is always reminding you. The tests are pretty much exactly what he teaches you. My favorite class this semester!
The class was easy, but I learned more about Judaism/Islam in 2 weeks in World Religions than in 4 months in this class. Chadwick might have the worst time management skills on campus. Class felt like a waste of time. Tests can be studied for on Quizlet to avoid the reading. Never knew what to take notes on. Just a wasted opportunity to learn more.
This class was amazing! Professor Chadwick has such a vast knowledge and love of what he teaches. He has unique experience that really adds to his class. Exams are easy if you study what he tells you. Not a ton of assignemts. Class attendance is a must. Would suggest this class to anyone.
This class is not about Judaism & Islam- we spent the majority of lectures talking about Mormonism. So shockingly and consistently self-referencing and unacademic. Judaism "texbook" was written by a play-write in the 1950's and is not only outdated but also frequently sexist and racist. Don't take this class if you actually want to learn something.
This guy is amazing. If you can take his class please go and take his class. He cares deeply about his students and he is trying to create an area of respect and tolerance. His class is inspirational and if you do the work (which isn't too much) you'll do great. 10/10 would recommend
Pretty easy A and I felt like I learned a lot of the basics in this class. He will be the first to say that he isn't a professor by trade so he is pretty different from any other professor at BYU. Worth taking if you are interested in Islam and Judaism but somedays you will leave the class thinking that he taught literally nothing for 50 minutes.
You can tell that he truly cares about his students. He posts helpful study guides for some of the tests, use quizlet and other resources to study for others! This really was a wonderful class!
Professor Chadwick is so laid back. His assignments are really open-ended and he just wants you to be able to engage with the text. It was definitely the easiest class I have taken at BYU! I watched a lot of the lectures online though because the lectures can feel really long. Regardless, I loved the content and how passionate Chadwick was!
Judaism and Islam was my favorite religion class. It wasn't very difficult at all, (just required you to read some books and write the occasional paper). He's hilarious and very intelligent
Great class and nice professor. You have to read two novels and take tests on those as well as the lectures. Tests are not too difficult and the assignments are easy. I liked the professor's easygoing attitude and passion for the subject, and I do feel like I learned a lot. He does talk a lot about the Jerusalem center.
Brother Chadwick is so sweet. He knows his stuff! He reminds me of my grandpa :) He'll also make you laugh. He also will give you every chance in the world to succeed (he let us take a midterm 4 times until everyone had 100%). The weekly readings sometimes took forever but it was considerably not bad and the class is a great easy A.
This was a pretty interesting class, it sometimes took a bit to get into the lectures but I learned a lot and Prof. Chadwick is pretty knowledgeable. The tests are not hard at all with a bit of studying, there's also a few writing assignments but they weren't too difficult either. Extra credit opportunities are offered.
Loved Prof Chadwick! He has very good lectures! Super funny and caring. Wants to do whatever possible to help you succeed. The exams are a bit hard, but that is just the nature of learning new religions. 4 exams, and a weekly (minus test weeks) 300 word reading response are pretty much the only assignments.
I loved Brother Chadwick! I can tell he loves his job and his students. He wants everyone to succeed. You have to read two books and take an exam on each. Start early, and don't make the same mistake I did reading them all in one week because it can be a lot to digest. But I absolutely loved this class. I wanted to go to lectures! Fun class :)
Very kind and interesting lectures, but the tests are extremely hard. They are open note/book, but the questions are so specific that it's really difficult to study for them or have adequate notes. I'm a good test taker, and I got a C on the midterm! There are few assignments, so make sure to do them all. Overall fine and lets you submit late work.
He's the best religion professor I've had! Hilarious guy and very insightful lectures.
I loved this class! This has been my favorite religion class at BYU! He is very understanding of students. All of the exams are open note, so you don't need to stress about them. He records his lectures, yet you are expected to be in the class unless you're sick or other reasons, you can Zoom in. Highly recommend!
Very good class to take while taking other busy classes, on 300-word essays a week and open book exams that you can do twice.
Great professor. He doesn't take himself too seriously despite knowing SO much and having tons of experience. His assignments are fun and his tests aren't too hard, as long as you do the readings and pay attention in lecture.
This class was focused on the small plates of Nephi through Jerusalem/ancient Israel lenses. It was totally fascinating and really helped me to learn how to think critically about the Book of Mormon. He shares a lot of his opinions, and it was really cool to learn more about the land of Israel and what life was like back then.
Brother Chadwick is the coolest! He is really old (he even taught my dad) but from that he has a lot of experience and expertise! He is very respectful of the cultures and religions he teaches about, his class isn't too hard, just do the readings and you'll be fine.
Really interesting class. Would be better as a lecture series as he is prone to going off on tangents. Attendance is graded but there is an online option is available in a pinch. Tests are open resource and online.
This was my second class from him and I loved it! Not too much reading and writing assignments. Pay attention to the lectures and the readings because the tests are on what he says. I loved going to class and I learned a lot about Book of Mormon archaeology. Take this class for a good time!
He can get very distracted and content moves slow at times, but if you want an easy religion credit, this is a good one.
Prof Chadwick is an engaging lecturer who wants students to succeed. The class has a few exams and readings, but isn't too difficult. I found Unstuck ai really helpful for studying alongside the textbook and lecture notes.
Fact checking every thing he says quickly leads to learning that this man knows absolutely nothing about what he claims to have such broad knowledge about. The bias and personal interpretation that is so prevalent in his “lectures” should not be allowed in a collegiate environment. Being a religion professor should not give leeway from facts.
If you want an easy religion credit, take a class from Prof Chadwick. He has very simple homework that gives you the test questions. The two tests you take (midterm and final) have 4 takes total that take your highest grade, an easy A. For lectures you mark your own attendance for points, and I mostly ended up doing other homework in the class.
If you want an easy, but interesting religion credit, take it from Chadwick. He is the coolest guy, an archeologist and in a band. He kind of just yaps in his lectures, but you can get all of his homework done in class. Not a ton of assignments, just quick 250 word responses, and the exams are so easy if you take notes and do the readings.
Bro. Chadwick is so sweet! This class is quite interesting, and you can tell he loves what he does. He has 2 "text"books, 4 exams, and an SRR due almost every week of 250 words. Going to class, talking notes, and reading the books does matter for a good grade. I found this class interesting, and enjoyed the way Bro. Chadwick teaches. I suggest it!!
Chill class. Exams on learningsuite. Super nice professor who wants everyone to succeed. Gives multiple opporutnities for final and gives extensions for assignments when needed. One midterm and one final. Short writing assignments throughout the semester
Seriously my favorite professor at BYU so far. He is incredibly knowledgeable about Christianity and just religion in general so it is really cool to be able to ask him quesions and listen to his lectures. 1 midterm and 1 final both with multiple attempts. 250 word reading response every week. I couldn't recommend him more.
