He is a hell of a nice guy and a good teacher as well. His tests are fair. I would recommend this teacher to others.

He has a bad rep of being rude but you just gotta be able to respect him and be able to handle his sarcasm as jokes. He tries to have a sense of humor and not many people catch on. But overall he was a great math teacher. You just need to give him a chance and not be quick to judge.

He has a caring way towards the students, like most profs they do not make things very clear.His test are over the top as far as difficulty.The test are 50% fair but the other 50% is not.Uses word problems in every test. Gives an extra assignment that is very time consuming and ridiculous, like you don't have anything else to do.

He's not as bad as everyone says he is. If you can take good notes and stay on task you'll be fine. His tests are hard but if you use the lab to your advantage and get help you'll be ok. He’s a nice guy and overall I'd say if you can take the notes, do the homework and study for the tests you will do fine. Just do the tests reviews.

i took him for trig, a little tough at first but just study the UNIT CIRCLE!! everything in trig class is based on this. just study a couple days @ the library and spend time @ math lab. i passed with a B with alot of studing

he was the only one who teached 1147 at BCC so i forced myself to take him. he is not that bad. he likes things in his specific way, he is HARD but he is manageable. do ur work, keep up and you will be alright. he gets his students involve. he is hard BUT ONE THING I GARANTEE IS THAT YOU WILL LEARN IN HIS CLASS. if you like easy then dont take him

He is one of the best teachers at BCC. He does expect u to do ur homework and he does assign extra work as well as quizzes. BUT! He is very available and truly cares about his students and will help u if you ask. Very approachable and he knows his stuff. I am going for an Eng. degree. I highly recommend him if you need to learn math.

I loved taking this class, and I HATE math. He is always joking and he always goes over the homework and encourages questions. His tests never had any surprises. He will call on random people in class -- but says if you tell him not to in private, he won't -- which is really cool. I would love to take another class with him!

VERY good teacher! I personally am very good at math, but I would have done very well in this class even if I wasn't. His class is not so hard as long as you do what he tells you to. If you have a problem with something he will help you until you understand it. Taking again for calc. Definitely take this teacher whether you are good at math or not.

if you go to class and you pay attention you should be able to pass his class. the tests and assignments are challenging but hes very fair when it comes to grading. bottom-line, if youre looking for a an automatic A look somewhere else but if youre willing to work and want to learn, hes the best.

Why this teacher is better than Sondra Braeseker? 1.He is funny. 2.He doesnt have an annoying voice. 3. He curves some tests. 4.He gives points on test questions even if the answer is wrong. 5.He gives tests at the beginning of class and goes over them.6.He takes as much time as possible on HW. 7.He actually solves HW Qs instead of an answer sheet.

He is amazing.You really have to study and work on the formulas because he really test you on them. He does at times gets a little annoyed when he is asked the same question more than once. But if you don't get it he'll be happy to help you outside of class. If your looking for an easy A then why are you taking this subject?

Very simple class. Just 3 MUSTS to get a good grade: show up to EVERY class, do homework (at least the online portion), and put a little effort into the tests/quizzes. He was clear and direct on topics and answered any questions. Overall, very good professor especially for math.

Had him for calc 1, came in there wit almost little to no knowledge of pre calc, when he realized I wasn't doing well he took the time out to point out my problems and I walked away with a great grade in the class! I took this guy for MAC1105 and made it a point to get him for MAC1147. Makes math easy and is willing to go over all problems/questions asked. He lives and breathes math, but understands that math is not easy for everyone. Doesn't rush through topics and is clear on his explainations. If math isn't your thing, this guy is your professor!

Also took 1114. I agree if you are not that good at Math take the two classes not the combined one. Professor Guild is a great teacher. I don't know how many time during lecture I had a dumb look on my face and he noticed and rexplained the material. Be prepared for unit circle quiz in 1114. Other wise he is great. Reviews are very good.

Prof Guild is a much better professor then these reviews would have you believe. I took his class for Calc 1 and Diff Eq. They were challenging courses but for the level of math, they were more then reasonable. The best part about Guild is that he does help and really has a good sense of humor if you actually speak up. Guild is awesome, took Calc I with another professor and it was so incomprehensible. Guild makes everything super clear and easy to understand if you pay attention and keep up with HW you will ace this class. He also uses WebAssign to help reinforce the material which is extremely helpful because it gets broken down even further.

he's amazing. although his quizzes and test's are challenging its college algebra. he's helpful and really fair. the only thing is you have to attend every class (random attendance) and no patience for cellphones.

I have already repeated mac2311 and it wouldn't have happened if i took him the first time. He is clear, moves at a good pace. Lot of practice in class and even brings some humors. I HIGHLY recommend him.

Great teacher! There's no way you can fail this class unless you choose too. Explain very well and also make sure everybody understands. Great feature about him is that he saved the lectures so when you get home you can review them at anytime. I got an A(100%) in this class and I barely strived for it. TAKE HIM!

Best math prof ever, extremely clear he is very enthusiastic about math. His test and quizzes are fair. You have to put in the extra work outside class, then the material won't seem hard. This class is for those students who intend to take calculus so be prepared to work those who give this prof a bad rap aren't supposed to be taking this class.

Very helpful if you ask questions, final was fair and is based on questions that was reviewed many times in notes. Requires webassign work but you have 99 chances on all the questions so 100% on homework is pretty much guaranteed. Quizzes are sometimes tricky if you forget some rules but isn't terribly hard. I recommend this prof. to to anyone!!

Mr. Guild expects a lot from his students, but he really is your friend. He gives you webassign which is homework that is 15% of the grade! (*Can be long though*) He is approachable. He gives you group problem sets that help your grade IF you do them correctly, tests are very reasonable and are easier than quizzes, he is sarcastic and witty. :)

Easily the best math professor I've ever had. He's very knowledgable meaning he can answer any question you have. Yes, he's picky, but in a way it helped me do well in his class because I would focus and make less careless mistakes. Every question on the tests are covered in notes. He's comical and fun. If you're not very good at math, this professor will be perfect for you. His lectures are detailed and he is willing to help you answer some questions. He will drop a quiz grade, and even give you an extra test grade out of your best test score to raise your overall grade. He is strict about lateness, arrive early. Do the homework as well.

Professor Guild has been my favorite professor in BC. He marks you for notation errors; however his grading is very fair. He will not penalize you horribly for notations, so the people bellow, who are complaining were just ill prepared for Calculus. No one said Calc is easy but He always helps and guides his students so that they may succeed.

Fantastic teacher. Took two classes with him. He is clear and knows what to teach and how to teach. The tests are not easy, but they are not hard either. He gives credit for the work shown as well as the final answer given. He's also very understanding.

Wonderful professor. Spends time in class going over questions from the homework. Says exactly what he expects on tests. Show your work, use correct notation, etc. Don't become lazy and not put equal signs in front of every line if the statements are, in fact, equal. If you have an interest to learn, you'll learn. If you don't, write a bad review.

I'm not a fan of trigonometry but, there is no better teacher than professor Guild. He loves math and is very knowledgeable in the subject. He also explains everything clearly. I took two classes with him and never used the textbook and got an A in both... but it's different for everyone. Just make sure to do ALL the Web Assigns! They help!

I have a very complicated schedule because of my job, but I still managed to keep up with this class. My class was a pilot class, all the assignments were done online on a website. His lectures were really helpful. You have about 5 tests before the final. The final is multiple choice only 30 questions very easy! Passed with a B

Great professor, I definitely recommend him to anybody taking any math course. He's funny, very sarcastic, but he keeps you interested in the class, he also takes notes on his laptop and posts the lectures on his website so if you miss a class or want to review a lesson it's all there. He doesn't make the class super easy but he's a good teacher!

Probably one of the most caring professors I've ever had. He teaches very well, he knows how to color code notes properly. Test are pretty fair, but he is a stickler for notation so be careful. If you attend his office hours which are practically all day, you'll leave with the utmost understanding. TAKE HIMMMMMMM!

I was like a lot of people on here who would give him negative feedback. But after taking him for a second class, I realize how awesome of a teacher he really is. His lectures make the hardest math class seem like basic math and he even gives test corrections in case you messed up the first time. Take his class and you won't regret it.

Best math professor ever. Calculus is an "easy" class if you have good bases, if you struggle w/ algebra or trig, this class will kill you. His lectures are clear, and all his notes can be found online. if u want to pass this class, u need to lose some sleep and practice a lot of exercises, test are not easy but are doable.

Took him for differential equations. If you made it this far in math, you should know the drill. DO THE HOMEWORK. This stuff is all just practice to remember the procedure. The homework problems are harder than the tests but the tests are hard to finish if you dont practice and get fast. He explains well & gives plenty of time to ask questions.

Best math professor I'll probably ever have. He explains the material thoroughly and answers all questions to make sure you understand the subject. The math classes he teaches are not easy subjects, but he lays them out to you as bare as he can. He posts all the notes from class online. He's just getting you ready for higher levels of math.

Grade was 85% tests and 15% mylabsplus. Didn't really need the textbook since the online homework was good enough for me. Gives great lectures and helps you out. No extra credit. Attendance is "mandatory" as in going to the lecture saves you hours of self-study. Requires a lot of time. Would take again.

Strict on notation but a very good teacher! If you are getting into a STEM field and struggle with math, take Guild. No calculators are allowed but most of the math is pretty basic.

There should be no bad reviews about this prof! Its an online course that is difficult! The syllabus says spend 15 hours a week on it and that is accurate. If you study you will do fine. He has zoom office hours and is always willing to help explain something! If you get a bad grade, it's not because of him. Ask for help, he is there and very kind!
