He works hard to get us ready for our next course and is always available for extra help. You have to work, he is not going to give you a grade. But if you try, he'll meet you more than half way. I know I'll be prepared for my next class after taking him for Calculus.

Very Unclear, Only class I've flunked. Jones often ignores questions, and/or makes you feel slightly stupid even for a asking good question. He makes anything you ask seem like common knowledge when HE KNOWS ITS NOT and he's a total eliteist.
He had a problem with being clear of what exactly he wanted. But if you bust your hump and show your work on everything then he will help you a bunch.
Jones was(is!) THE GREATEST MATH TEACHER @ CCM! The reason so many people complain they fail & have to retake the course 3X is cause they're lazy. I got an A the 1st time taking it because I worked hard. He teaches well and drills it into your head and makes sure you understand. Mr Jones is available 4 help at his office. Lose the pounds and visit.
Jeff Jones can't teach, plain and simple.It doesn't take a math wiz to see that.If you are unfortunate enough to have him as your teacher ask around the classroom and see how many students are taking the class over.In my case it was about 50% of the class.He needs to come off of his i'm smarter than you perch and learn how to teach.1st F thanks
He is by far the worst teacher that I have ever had. I was an A student before I took his class. And I worked hard. I thought that after taking college algebra this class would be a peice of cake. Jones is also not friendly. He happen to be the most arrogant person that I have ever met.

I took two classes with Mr. Jones during The Summer Institute for the Gifted (for grades 6-8). It was a difficult class, and I realized I was in over my head. But with his help, I still got a lot out of it. And he was a genuinely good guy out of the classroom. It was also fun to watch him work with his chalk in one hand and coffee in the other.
I've seen comments here that Mr. Jones is rude and arrogant and even chauvenistic. I've taken two of his classes, and it was apparent to myself and all my classmates that this is merely an act he puts on for our benefit. Unfortunately, some people lack the ability to recognize showmanship when they see it. He has the respect of everyone I know.
It is truly an experience to watch this man create a cloud of chalkdust in front of the board. He's not just a teacher-- he is a performer. His class is damn hard, but worth it. He takes the time and effort to help everyone along when they need it.

Jones likes to play his German music while taking inclass pop quizs, his test where very very hard would have me leaving not knowing anything about what he just teached. Nice professor, but material was very hard

professor jones is a riot. his class is NOT as hard as everyone makes it. if you fail it's your own fault. do your homework when he assigns it, participate in class, and take advantage of his extra credit. class is EASILY a B....and if you try an A. One of the BEST teachers I've had at CCM. Suck it up and work for your grade!

He has a hard time explaining his knowledge to those not mathematically inclined. Tries really hard to explain. Nice guy. Class requires alot of work.
Impossible to learn from, talks down to his students, even makes fun of your calculator after you go out and buy one that you think meets his requirements. He wasted 30 minutes of class time talking about a revolutionary war field manual he red on the "Brown Bess Musket" instead of reviewing for our mid term.
I was excellent at calculus before I met Professor Jones. Now I am more confused than ever, and feel like he makes fun of me whenever I ask a question. Don't ask him to do a homework problem in class, unless you want to have to get up in front of everyone and write it on the board!
He makes the class interesting by using real life everyday examples. He tries to help you learn.
I like him. He is tough, but he knows what he's doing and wants everyone to do well. He'll give you all the help you need but you have to earn your grade.

Any grade you get in this class you earn. Uses Webct for lesson plans, homework, practice tests. Info on practice tests is just like questions on test -- so do them! Ask questions and do homework! I liked him, but I had to work hard (3 hrs of homework a nite). Not a teacher for the weak and lazy.
Rude. Obnoxious. Cruel. Feeds off of his own negative energy. Makes fun of students. Take any other teacher. The real-life Mr. Garrison. CCM should fire him. Also, he did not leave class for evaluation. Talk to the higher-up administrators about him. He has had problems before and should not become a full professor!!! Drop him and take anyone else!
Professor Jones is amazing. I transfered out to a new school and what I learned from him helps me with every class I take at a real college. He makes you work your butt off but gives you SO many resources...USE THEM! Stop complaining and being lazy...learn something! VERY HELPFUL! LOVED HIM!
Definately a tough teacher! First time thru I failed but came back next semester and got an A. Difference was I went to him for extra help and did the practice quizes he gives before I took a test. He is EXTREMELY HELPFUL if you go to him for help!!! I'm now at NJIT and my calculus class is a breeze thanks to Prof. Jones!!!

Jeffrey Jones is a horrible teacher. Do not take his classes online or on-campus. He doesn't seem as though he's there to help you out. He makes ambiguous assignments and talks during tests. I do NOT recommend him!
He's tough, but he does everything he can to help. If you try and go to class and do the homework you'll do fine. Lot of people don't want to all that and get pissed when they don't get a good grade.
Prof. Jones tries hard and gives a lot of extra help --- just go to him and he'll help. He also gives extra-credit and make-up tests that really help.
Attendance is very important.He tried to help us to get good grade. But some guys may feel tough and hard to follow this professor.
Well, he was nice professor. Attendance is not much important if u do exercise(7-8) he gives you. If u do all exercises and do study a little bit hard for final, you can get A.

Run Away is right! Worst professor ever. He's old so he doesn't care about his students anymore. Very rigid. Unwilling to assist you. Has a "too bad for you" attitude. Expects you to memorize all the formulas. Aveerage mid-term grade is 70%. You're expected to put in 16 hours per week. You will fail if you don't. My GPA is 3.7 so I'm not an idiot.
Statistics is hard enough and having a professor who isn't willing to help you learn is even harder. This professor wants you to fail his class. He's very rigid and not willing to make time to help you understand. Expects you to memorize all formulas for the tests. Don't take his class if you can help it.
Unlike the other comments, I thought Prof. Jones was a good guy. If you put in any effort at all as to what he pointed out as the key points to know for a chapter, you were able to do quite well on his tests. He isn't out to get anyone, and tries quite hard to spell everything out for his students to succeed. A lil wacky, but an overall good guy

horriable teacher, trys to play mind games with you, teaches at mach 5 and will leave students behind and confused without any care in the world. shows up late like ten minutes late evey day and will scream and embarrass you even if you walk in the door behind him. Took this class online. Does not help at all. Class is very hard. wont admit when he is wrong and if you are right and marked wrong you dont get credit. If you are off by a small fraction you dont get credit. Does not give any leverage on grading. I am sure most students in his class get D's and F's. DO NOT TAKE!! I have a 3.8 GPA & am not stupid. I studied and knew the material well but he does everything to make sure you dont do well
This prof is not interested in you learning the course or in helping when you ask for assistance. The important thing to him is that you get the answer the computer has and don't bother him.

This Professor is the WORST professor ever. I took him for Precalculus this past term and honestly it was the worst experience of my life. He does not know how to teach, his exams are really hard, and all he ever talks about in class are airplanes. he is VERY unhelpful and expect you to do everything yourself. I took his class online. Professor Jones is not as bad as everyone says. He is a really great professor and wants you to actually LEARN what he is teaching. His tests are pretty hard but his classes are taped so they are online! just look at the classes online while you are studying and you will be FINE! he does talk about planes alot, act/be interested and your good to go

The man is a golden god. I'd take his Advanced and Regular Statistics classes again in a heartbeat. His Calc classes may not be the same, but at least the Stats are excellent (except online, but if you're foolish enough to take an online math class...)

He is tough, but I will tell you, you'll learn. You need thick skin because if you ask him a question about something he already went over, he won't answer too nicely. However, all that being said, he is a much better professor than my current professor. I will be looking for J. Jones for my next Math class.
Very rude, very snippy if you don't immediately understand the material. Ask him a question and he either tells you "You should have asked this last class" or just leaves you in the dust of your own confusion. If you want to learn your stuff and don't feel like being constantly frustrated and borderline tearful, do not take his classes.
Took him for statistics online. Wanted to kill myself immediately. Arranged the onsite midterm for a day I had class, when he rescheduled it he sent me to a room with a class going on then yelled at me when I didnt come in. I took him for statistics a few years back before going to the university level and LOVED him. He will help but you don't be like all the people below me and try to get an easy ride out. He helped me while i was hurting in the class, and I got an A! So to anyone that has bashed or bad mouthed him, you're looking for an easy way out. Get over it.

good teacher for kids who pick up fast but if you dont get it right away then good luck and dont bother asking about a problem because he will tell you to go on to his favorite site (mymathlab) and keep practicing problems. he doesnt give equations to problems.i had a emergency and couldnt get my HW done, he told me it should have been done sooner

TERRIBLE! This is coming from a good student who generally likes his professors, even when others don't. Heed the warnings here! I took him for statistics online and the class is all reading from the book and taking online quizzes and tests. The only time I interacted with the professor was during the in person mid-term and final.

He doesnt use the book and does everything online even though its not an online class. He constantly talks about airlines and travel too. He is awful. Does not explain each step of the math problem but expects you to show each step on a test and if you do not, you get no credit. If you ask him to show the step he response in a nasty way as if we should know how he got that answer. I enjoy math and have gotten As in every class until i met him..i might be failing.

Major probs w/this prof. Math dept was notified. I'm an adult student and will not tolerate unprofessional behavior. We started semester w/22 students, only 5 of us remained to take final exam. I wanted to drop this class however my availability forced me to stick it out. Save yourself time, money and headaches, chose a different professor.
Pretty much agree with ALL the negative comments made on here.Wish I visited this site prior to taking the class. This man SPEEDS through the work, talks about planes, trains & automobiles, instead of explaining steps to solving equations. In a non-credit class, I would hope to have a prof that realizes you need help w/ algebra. HORRID. EPIC FAIL.
alright i got this teacher right now he picks on people who do not know the answer i feel like im in a interrogation room with a single light over my head, one time i asked for help on a worksheet he gave us and he just said keep trying and started to read the newspaper, Ive never felt intimidated to ask a professor a question
Prof. Jones was a very nice guy, if you actually showed interest in learning. If you are having a hard time and actually go to him for help, he will do his best to help you. He is very smart, but, does have a hard time teaching students who arent that great in math. He skips steps, flys through chapters, and assigns tons of homework.
Sorry today but Very Un Helpful. First day of class he spent listening to opera on his boom box and talking about planes. at the end of the class i asked if i could reach out to him for help. and he refused. Please save your time and money!!
I currently have him for precalc, and the class is painful. I like to consider myself good at math and I got every question correct, but 2 on a test and he managed to mark me down to a 58%. He is incredibly tedious at grading. I also find him to be obnoxious as he rambles on about his world travels, and history references.
I'm currently a student in his precalc class. He makes fun of us constantly, yells in German and is just all over the place. Save yourself! don't take this guy!
I am taking his stats course online. In terms of an online course, he is disorganized as far as I am considered. He continioulsly changes due dates. He is unbending in his procedure even when you make him aware of issues you may have months in advance and he says you can work something out. I would highly suggest you not take any of his couses.
I think Prof. Jones is great. I had him for MAT 016 this summer and I did as well as I did because of him. He always made time to help me, always answered my emails and questions, he was there for me. As long as you try and do your work you will do well .. and you'll enjoy his class too!

Wow.. I never thought I would like Statistics.. man was I ever wrong!! After having his class I love stats!! He made it so interesting I wanted to go to class. He puts a lot of effort into the class and wants everyone to do well. Yea, you gotta work but come on, its college. Take him. he's the best for this class

I had Prof J for MAT 123 and then took two calc classes this summer. Thanks to him and his teaching, I found Calc easy and did great. He was so helpful.. even answered questions after I wasn't in his class anymore.. Wow!!
I had him for Precalc this spring and then took Calc I and 2 this summer. Because of his teaching in Precalc I found Calc easy and did great in both. He even answered my emailed questions this summer after I wasn't in his class anymore.. He's great.

Is the professor for my online course. Not pleased with the turn around time in response to critical question. Online courses have deadlines and section piggy back. So if you can't get an answer you can easily not be able to turn in assignment on time. The online class is poorly structured and so is the book. Numerous error in book.
As a former student, I can't say much in favor of this professor. His utilization of class time is poor and his tests are irrelevant to what he tells us to study. I have prior experience in Stats having taken AP Stats. I took this and Advanced Stats at the same time and got an A in the higher level course, yet I can't manage a C in this course.
I had this prof for stat and he is by far the worst professor I have ever in college. He cannot teach. Material on tests were not taught in class. 2 highest grades on an exam were 77 and 74. Do not take this professor.
Wow! i really wish i went on here before taking his algebra class. Recently, I've been working my tail off to raise my GPA and taking Prof. Jones has me questioning whether or not I should even bother with school. He spends half the class talking about irrelevant things and speeds through the material that we actually have to learn DO NOT TAKE HIM!
VERY strange guy. Brings up numerous irrelevant stories.Talks about his love for airplanes. Gives a tremendous amount of homework, 3 hours a night. Tells us the textbook is a MUST but doesn't refer to it. Lastly but not least very touch grader.

This class is something like sitting in a dentist chair for 2 hours minus the Novocane.
I'm an A/B student & was disappointed by his method of teaching. While I find MathLab very helpful, that's all there was (he did not teach this class-it was taught by MathLab/Pearson). I should have received an "A" for the amount of time I invested-but I was avging a C/D. I w/d because I found that it was not req'd (thank God)!
I really don't recommend this professor. I may have passed his class but at least 75% of my class withdrew. His test were much harder than homework problems assigned, and he made the entire class uncomfortable with his "tendencies" and need to single out and basically harass students. Don't waste a semester on this guy

Not understanding at all. Took class during Winter and due dates had no wiggle room and you often get stuck in a cycle of not being able to complete your work on time due to prereq requirements. He never makes exceptions to his due dates. Avoid at all costs!
HE puts the homework online, even if you are not signed up for an online course. I'm in the minority, but I enjoyed Professor Jones's statistics class only for his character. Dude is extremely off the wall and has a weird sense of humor. Goes off on tangents easily, yet also extremely (almost weirdly) obsessed with statistics and ultimately, I found easy to learn from him. Don't be swayed by bad reviews. ps, he loves planes.

Poor excuse for a teacher. Harps on about trains, planes, and travel experiences that are irrelevant to the course. Gives excessive amounts of homework which are repetitive, unnecessary, and frustrating. Nitpicks tests. Makes an easy subject boring and doesn't answer questions well. His prob. and stat. class is passable with the right study tools. The book is expected to be read before each class, homework to be completed, and good notes. If you are a good math student then this should be tolerable of a class. A lot of people fail but do not be discouraged. Show up to class and tolerate his stories, read, homework, pass class.
Easily one of the worst professors I've had. He is obsessed with planes and trains and tries to relate everything to them. He does not answer questions when you ask them, instead he will respond with a sarcastic retort. He loves putting people on the spot as well. I couldn't take it anymore and withdrew after 5 weeks. This professor is very difficult to understand. He enjoyed talking more of his vacations than to insure we understood the information being obtained. The class was very rushed and the chapters were not brought into depth. He often forgets which chapter we were exploring. Overall I myself had a very difficult time with this course. Do not Take!

He is the worst teacher of CCM, do not take him! His tests are hard and he doesn't teach, he knows what he's talking about but he can't teach! I regret taking him! DO NOT TAkE him and he's also Rude!
I honestly can't stand him. He lives up to the poor ratings that he has. The good ratings were from either him andor people who kissed up to him before. I feel like he grades you based on whether he likes you or not. He goes off topic in class and expects students to pass the class. He is rude and i advise you to never take him.
Statistics is already hard enough. He holds you completely accountable for material that he barely covers or doesn't even mention. He's not boring by any standard, but he doesn't make that material any easier than it is. You also need to do ALOT of homework online and it's really monotonous. If you can find someone else for stat, go with them.
She was very difficult to deal with, and sometimes very rude and sarcastic to the class. She moves extremely fast, but if you approach for help she prefers you get it yourself. This totally blew me away after I read such great things about her. I wouldn't recommend taking her. Unless your a math wiz she couldn't be bothered with you.
SO MUCH POINTLESS HOMEWORK. Not only is there an excessive amount of homework, but all of the homework is on topics that he barely mentions in class, and it's all graded. He's also very unclear with the concepts that he teaches. He just throws numbers and formulas at you and expects you to understand it. DO NOT TAKE HIM.
Went off on tangents every class. Over 2 hours of homework each class. Homework material was not taught in class. Hard to follow lectures.
He is the worst professor I have ever knowntaken. He would rather give a speech on trains or his vacations then actually teach math. I completely bombed the tests. He is an awful teacher and his completely rude to his students half of our class dropped before the 3rd week even began. Stay away and drop the class whilst you still have a chance.
Professor Jones is the worst professor I've ever had at ccm. He does not teach math at all and talks about pointless topics the entire class. Whenever you ask for help he is rude and doesn't care to answer your questions. The tests cover things you've never learned and he doesn't give partial credit for anything. Its right or wrong. DONT TAKE HIM.
Run, run fast and run far. Worst professor i have ever had. HE knows what he is taking about but teaches it in a dumb way. He tries to change the way you solve problems so that in his mind it is easier. I wish i took his class
I think he's a great teacher. He's a tough teacher, but that's not necessarily a bad thing... If you need help, all you need to do is ask and it's there. Students don't like him because he actually makes you do the work. It's not an easy class but I found it enjoyable. He's a little weird and quirky but there's nothing wrong with that.
Disrespectful towards his students
He's a great professor, but makes you work for a good grade. If you really try, you will receive a fitting grade. Take this class if you'd like to learn the material, not just pass the class.
He definitely makes you work for your grade and you are accountable for the online homework to be done on time (there's usually a lot. Don't do all in one sitting). If you ask him questions during class, he will walk you through the process to make sure you get it. Get on his good side by talking to him after class.
Professor Jones will sacrifice his personal time every day to not only ensure understanding of statistics and probability, but he will even get to know you personally. I developed a close relationship with him as a colleague and fellow intellectual. His tests are somewhat difficult but there are no surprises. Prepare to work for your grade!
I WISH I READ HIS REVIEWS BEFORE I TOOK HIS CLASS! As others have said, avoid taking classes with him like the plague. Im in his Stats& Prob.- 4 week class, and its driven me to the point of crying. The amount of work he gives (reading+homework) is utterly ridiculous. To put it in perspective, im spending about 5 hours a day and barely passing

If you can take another teacher, do so. This professor is very unprofessional and disrespectful to students. He is very unclear in his teaching and his response to you not understanding is that you are clearly not payin enough attention even if you are. If he does explain you are left very confuse. Half of my class dropped after the first test.
Don't bother coming to him for help, he'll just tell you to look it up in the textbook or your notes, and even if you still have trouble understanding the material, he'll just tell you what page it's on, after you just read it five times and it didn't make sense. The questions for tests are completely different from what little he taught in class
I feel as though he has no respect for anyone who is a student. He is the living example of ' teach once and done.' We're on one subject one class, the day after something completely different. If you go to him for extra help, he'll basically tell you to figure it out on your own.
By far the most unhelpful professors I've encountered. He gives way to much work each week to will struggle to get it all done if you have other classes. Worst of all he has no respect for his students he's never in the wrong and he won't hear anything else.
Whatever you do do not take him. He is awful he will teach the class as if you already know the material. When he gives back the test and explains you must fix errors. Once going to his office hours he will do little or no help showing you what you did wrong.
Dr. Jones is a great speaker, but speaks very vocabulary and loves to talk. I didn't really enjoy the class as much as I thought I would. As a communicatons major I'm more interested in film. Didn't think there was no need for tests instead it should've been a midterm essay and a final essay that shows that we as the students understand the topic.

Never take Jones, avoid him trust me. His tests are hard, and he is a tough grader. He doesn't like it when you don't solve problems the way he wants you to, and he will take points off tests for that. I would easily spend 3 or more hours a week just on homework. I had to work very hard just to barely get a B. More than half my class dropped
Avoid classes w/ Jones. He is just a horrible professor. For the majority of the semester, I barely learned anything from him. I spent the majority of the semester teaching myself, Do not take him. he will be a waste of your money & energy. Avoid him at all costs. Half the class dropped halfway through the semester.
He's a tough grader yes, and he does give a lot of homework. Additionally, this provides a lot of practice for the courses he teaches. Jones is a great professor and is willing to work grounds with you as long as you show that you're putting effort.
Prof. Jones avoid that name when signing up for classes. He's obsessed with his youtube channel. I asked him for help and he told me to look it up on his youtube channel. Awful.. DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!!!
Taking this class in your first semester is a bad move. If you aren't used to taking advantage of resources such as extra hours and tutoring, you're in trouble. Jones is extremely hard, but he's fair and always available. He's also the sort of guy you'd like to meet in a coffee shop, as he's seen a lot and he knows a lot.

Extremely poor professor. He uses so much class time talking about trains and Germany. He tries to make it seem like if you do poorly it's your fault. He frames everything as though it is all about your success... it isn't. This guy uses class to socialize with students, then tries to put the blame on you for his inability to teach. Worst prof ever
At 27 years old, I've had my fair share of teachers and he was the worst. If I ask a classmate how he did a problem, he'd put me on the spot. Then I raise your hand to ask instead and he ignored me 3 times. When I am going to school on behalf of my company, you would think he knows that my intentions are to learn something. Waste of time and money.

He seems like a pretty decent human being. But the guy has also a Masters in History, so he kinda loves history more than anything else. DO NOT TAKE HIM. DO NOT LOSE YOUR MONEY. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. He ONLY talks about HISTORY.

Take this as a warning, do NOT take any of his classes. He is everywhere! He randomly surprises you with in-class assignments and then grades them so harshly, that barely any partial credit is given. Is rude and blames the students if they don't do well. He's really old so he's very old fashion too. horrible professor.
Wish I read the reviews, trust them! horrible professor. run run run! one of the toughest graders I've ever had. it's his way or the highway. doesn't respect his students, will single you out and make you uncomfortable. wastes time talking about trains that we only review one topic per class.
