This man is hilarious. He teaches math, and makes it fun. He tells the most outlandish stories to keep your attention. Take this class!
There is only one word to describe this man: AWESOME!
Adds humor to make math interesting. His name may sound foriegn but he is not... Highly recommended.

Fantastic class, Jeff's hilarious and makes math easy/fun
woo woo
Easy, fun, lots of extra credit, get out early of the class everyday, very clear. So why don't you take his class?
This class was the best choice of my life. The subject is easy, the tests are easy (you can use a cheat sheet) He lets you drop a test, the final is optional and you get bonus points for coming on fridays. He is also hilarious and a really nice guy.
Very Funny, Very cool. Don't take math from anyone else. Jeff Rocks.
great teacher... highly recommend!!!
Lang rocks! If you have to take math, get him. Extra credit if you show up to class. Easy material as well. He makes it hard not to get an A in the class. Each test he lest you use a full page front and back of notes!!
Amazing!!! amazing!!! Simply unbelievable how this man teaches. He's worth taking even at 5AM if needed. The grading scale is a joke, but you still learn everything you need to... simply amazing
Any teacher that pretends to smoke his chalk and uses drug dealer story problems is alright with me. This has been the best teacher of my life... take the class even if you don't need it.. the dennis dailey of the math department!
Great professor, best math teacher I have ever had, absolutely hilarious, extra credit just for showing up to class.
The BEST teacher ever!!! I agree with everyone else. Even if you don't have to take this class....take this class. It's like a comedy show everyday. Makes you wonder why all teachers are not like this. I learned alot and I had fun. Awesome teacher!!!
Everything everyone else said is true...tests are a breeze, he is very entertaining, great teacher, and super nice! ENROLL IN HIS CLASS!
he is so awesome! makes the class fun!
Lang is a funny ****.
This is the best teacher I have ever had at KU. "what do we do with a problem like maria?" "now way jose!" "do we hesitate? no! subtracticate!" The funniest and most interesting proff. I received 392/400 total points and I HATE math. don't take calc from any other teacher!
Jeff Lang is the MAN!!
One of the easiest classes I've ever taken......
Very clear. Very thorough in his teaching. Not very many assignments. Extra credit for going to class, which only last 30min at most. Great if you hate math!

He is definitely one of the best teachers I have had at KU. Soooo funny and he makes you wanna come to class even though it's not mandatory.
Lang is the bets teacher for math. He is hilarious and very entertaining. Class was easy and he gave extra credit just for showing up. Class only lasts about 20-30 minutes each session and there was only one home work assignment every wednesday, and he would work the problems on mondays to "help us out". I definitely reccommend this class!!!!!!!!!!
HE IS SO AWESOME!
Class was short (only 30 mintues) fun, and always entertaining!! Plus, you get bonus points for attendance. TAKE THIS CLASS!! I hate math and I actually enjoy going to this class. Its pretty easy too! Jeff is awesome!!
AWESOME TEACHER, TAKE HIM! I would show up for class just to hear him joke around. Easy homework, short classes, and allows a cheat sheet for the tests. For more check out 'Jeff Lang is the Man' as a group on facebook.com
Don't hesitate, enrollitate(as Jeff Lang would say) in this class. Awesome Awesome Awesome! This class is fun. Jeff Lang is the man.
He's hilarious and gives bonus points for going to class. Hes awesome.
Going to this class is like going to listen to a stand-up comedian. You get bonus points for just going to class. You only sit in class for 30min. The easiest A you will ever get at KU. His test questions are EXACT questions from an old test.

Jeff Lang is awesome!! Everyone should take this class.
make sure EVERYTHING is on your cheat sheet
Funniest and probably easiest class I've ever taken. You get bonus points for going to class and as long as you do good on your hw, you will get an A. Some of the tests are difficult, but your bonus points make up for it in the end. You even get cheat sheets. Trust me, you want to get him for any math class you can.
Possibly the best teacher at KU! Make sure you go to class, its only 30 min long! The extra bonus points for attendence will help you out in the end!
Jeff Lang is a GPA saint. Easy tests, easy homework, cheatsheets, shortened classes, and comedy. It is a comedy hour for those who attend class. Go to class. Take the class even if you do not need it.
Lang did the impossible--he made me want to go to math class! He's funny and entertaining and he completely makes you want to pay attention to the lecture. The homework and tests are easy; it was mostly stuff I had already encountered in high school. The bonus points were also great; you could get a lot for just being in class.
jeff is great. we took notes on his funny jokes in class not on the math material. it's an easy class thats actually enjoyable to go to.
Jeff Lang's classes are really easy; he teaches Math 105 and 106 basically the exact same way/same book. He gives you extra credit for showing up to class. The homework assignments are few, but take forever. He always lets class out early. Recommended.
Jeff is AMAZING. He is a great teacher, a great person, and just someone you want to be around. He makes going to class fun and never takes himself too seriously in class. I wish I would've known about it him back when I took calculus and got a 68. You can learn any math from Jeff Lang.
Great teacher. Easiest class you will ever take. Extra credit for going. Never once took the whole period to finish his lecture. Overall didnt learn a ton but the easiest class ever.
I'll miss how funny he was and how fun his class was even though it was math. He didn't offer to help students outside of class, only the T.A.s would. But, if you went to class (and got alot of extra credit for it) and didn't have your head up your butt, then you wouldn't need help. Easy class, and great fun.
He makes everything seem easy in class but when I get my tests back I do lousy. Still, class is entertaining which is good because I am terrible at math. I'm worried because the first test I got and F on and the second test I got an A on.. but I hear that because there is so many bonus points that it's hard to get anything less than a B.
Jeff Lang simply stated is the man. He gives homework about once a week, and it takes awhile to do, but it's never too hard. His tests can be tricky, but if you do the study guide, and come for the review you are okay. He gives at least 1 bonus point for each class you attend, but I got 5 one day. He is really funny, and it's a fav class of mine!
You get extra credit for coming to class which is really nice in the end and he normally only keeps you for about 30 minutes, but he goes off on tangents of his past which sometimes distract from the class. The tests are pretty easy if you come to class. Overall this is a blowoff if you come to class.
The sickest man alive. This is the best class i have ever taken. I love Jeff Lang
I had Jeff for linear algebra, which has been easier than both calc classes, and differential equations. He cracks more jokes than he does examples during class, and he does a lot of examples. Our test scores were so high he jokingly suggested we do some heroin or get **** before taking the final. Great math teacher, don't pass him up if you can.
the best teacher i have had in college
Jeff Lang is an awesome professor. I hear he uses the same jokes every semester, but regardless, he can make me laugh like no one else. His sense of humor is priceless, and he definitely does not take Math 105 too seriously. Dont pass him up.
I hated math until I took this class, one of the best teachers I've ever had!!!!
The best teacher I have had in the past five years at KU.
amazing.
Jeff lang is awesome, I got a super A in my class you get bonus points for GOING to class! Take this class it is seriously the easiest math class and if you are like me and hate math you will actually love the class, and JEff he is super funny!
you really have to be a complete idiot to not get a good grade in this class. he seems to encourage cheating, cheat sheets, etc. class can suck but you get bonus points and the longest its ever been was 30 minutes. talks about drugs alot. its basically adding, subtracting, and connecting the dots. not really sure how its math but EASYYY
Jeff Lang is hilarious. There isn't much else I can say because everyone else has said it.
the best teacher i have had at ku so far!! i ENJOYED going to class with him as my teacher. Constantly making jokes to lighten the mood! Gives an extra credit point for every day you attend class! He really does understand his material! I reccomend him to anyone and everyone!! loved him!
This is the only good teacher I've had at KU. A very good one at that. Lots of curvage, lots of profanity, lots of insane jokes and stuff that I thought a professor would NEVER say. Take as many classes from this guy if you can, even if you aren't a math major. A secret he never mentions in class is he is also North America's most prominent Muslim.
So funny! I mean you won't really learn anything but you get points for going; cheat sheets on the test; and he honestly thinks that class is only 25-30 min. long! So much fun!!!
Easiest math class you can take. But you don't learn a thing. Oh well, it's a good way to get a math credit and not worry about it. His tests are short, he allows cheat sheets, and even told us he can't stop us from cheating cause it's such a big class. Gives "bonus points" for showing up.
Funniest Professor at KU, also he is an excellent teacher and explains things with ease while leaving the b.s. out. Cares about his students by telling us we need some gatorade, nothing wronf with some elecktrolytes. Greatest Professor at KU!!!
Best teacher I have had a KU. He makes Calculus 2 a breeze and has a great grading system. If you want a good grade in a math class take Jeff Lang. Plus he is hilarious and you will actually want to go to class. If you take him you will be on your way to a solid "A"
Such a great teacher, everybody likes him.
Best math teacher I have ever had! If you just go to class and pay a attention you will be on your way to an easy A! I actually might take another math class just to have Jeff Lang again
Best Math teacher I have ever had at KU. Actually enjoyed going to his class.
There isn't a better math teacher in the world. I HATE math, never do well in it, but Professor Lang kept the class interesting, made the stuff simple, and I learned more about math in his class than I probably ever have! HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
HILARIOUS teacher.
This is by far the best teacher at the University of Kansas. He is absolutely hilarious and I loved going to his class. I failed calc the first semester i took it with someone else, then took it with him and got an A cause he made it fun and easy!
It's only the second week of class & I already know that everything written here about Prof Lang is absolutely true. Hes hilarious & quite dashing for an older man. He is the best professor Ive had at KU and not just because his class is easy but because hes fun and doesnt take himself too seriously like a lot of professors do.
It's impossible to fail this class. He gives extra credit for those who attend class (1 point per day) and it's actually entertaining while you're there. The guy is hilarious, you don't even realize you're learning about math.
best. teacher. ever.
He tells you what will be on the test almost exactly. He's really good at teaching so you actually learn something. Tests are multiple choice. He's really funny and smokes his chalk.
BEST CLASS EVER! I go to class because I love it, not Math..but the teacher. Absolutely hilarious, and it's impossible to fail his class. So easy and so much fun! Best professor at KU hands down. I would take this class just for pure enjoyment!
Best teacher I have ever had. You do not ever have to attend class but I haven't missed one because this teacher is so funny. He makes it impossible to fail and gives you a reason to come to class. I have friends that sit in just for fun because he is so great!
Wow- this is one guy who could make a very positive difference at KU. He's a wonderful teacher and he's hilarous making class time go by very quick. There are minimal assignments. Take any class with him and you will not regret. He's fabulous.
Show up and you get an A
Jeff Lang makes going to math class fun. He knows his class is a joke and that's part of what makes so enjoyable. TAKE THIS CLASS!
God bless this man. You get extra credit for attending, so it's a lecture with a seating chart - kind of weird, but oh well. Just do the work, show up and you'll get an A in a college math class. Lang is the funniest dude ever and has hilarious stories that he factors into examples. I still want to go out and have a beer with him.
Material is pretty easy, you get extra credit for going, and extra credit Q's on the test. He is funny, but his TA's have no idea whats going on. If you go, do well on the HW(which is mostly in the back of the book) and do OK on the tests youll get an A. I was 5 points short of an A and i went up and asked him if he would give an A and he did.
So, if you hate math, this is your best bet. He is really funny, but after awhile, is lectures got so scatterbrained, I couldn't even pay attention anymore. But, there is no way you can fail. Honestly. I think it is literally impossible.
take him for any math class and you will be rockin your way to a solid, solid A
He was AMAZING! The BEST teacher I have EVER had at KU. I never really liked math but he made me really enjoy it! He also made the material super easy to understand and if you dont understand something he will help you in a heart beat! Super funny, loves life & loves his students! TAKE him!!! You will love him the first time you meet him! :)
He is one of the best Professors I have ever had. He is truly wonderful
This class, if taken with Lang, is amazing. The class is hard to pay attention in because Jeff is an incredibly goofy person, but the class is very easy. Attendance is Extra Credit, and each class is more like a comedy routine than a regular lecture. Easy A and incredibly entertaining. He calls himself the "Math Requirement Terminator".
So easy. Only time I've ever enjoyed a math class. I can't wait to try acid.
Jeff Lang's lectures were hilarious He told a lot of jokes and didn't take himself to seriously. Even though attendance wasn't mandatory I still enjoyed class. Homework was fairly easy and tests were super easy because we could use cheat sheets. If you really want to learn anything this isn't the class for you.
Jeff Lang was a substitute for my MATH 105 class on a Friday when only 100 of 640 students decided to show up. That one class was the greatest lecture I have ever been to. Highly recommended. He makes you laugh but he gets the lecture across so you understand.
Jeffery Lang is a saint.
Absolutely amazing teacher. Attendance is not mandatory but we got extra credit for each day we went to class, sometimes multiple points if a lot of people didn't show up. The material is very easy and he does a lot of examples. Let us use cheat sheets on the tests, final was optional, and he is a very funny person overall.
He's the bomb. Best math professor at KU. Period.
I have only been to one class this year.....this guy is the best/fun/awesome most interesting professor ever.......just read the reviews..and you will be on your way to a solid A
WOAH!
I freaking love him. You must take him for any class. He is very funny and will make any math class fun.
Jeff is the best math teacher I have evry had by far. he keeps you interested the entire time and is hilarious. If you can get him as a teacher, do it!
He makes this class easy, but it is all about entering in numbers you don't really learn anything... However, he is the easier Calc. II teacher, if you want to learn something useful take Calc. II with Mr. Chaffee, I visited the main lecture (Lang's Class) for extra review and didn't learn anything.
Lang is entertaining, although hard to follow at times because he gets really tangential and throws in random stories in the middle of doing integrals. Still, glad I took his class. 80 bonus points (full letter grade) for not missing more than 4 classes made this class a pretty easy A. (2 tests, midterm/final, 25 homeworks over the semester)
I came to KU with the intention of majoring in math, but I had a horrible experience in Math 121, and had almost changed my mind--then Jeff Lang came along. He is a great teacher, funny, helpful, and nice. He brought math back to life for me. I cannot thank him enough for his class. I am sad to see it end.
The best 122 prog .period
Jeffery Lang is the best professor i have ever had !!! he really needs us to get a good grades in his class and he really explains stuff well, he made Calc2 so easy for us. 80 bonus points just for attending class !!! if you want to learn and get a good grade in Calc, take it with him !!!
Jeff Lang is the nicest and coolest professor I have ever had. With that said, he isn't the best teacher. He teaches math as plugging numbers into equations, when it should be taught logically. I learned everything in the class from the book (which is amazing). Also he took attendance in a 200 person lecture every day.
TOP 15 PROFESSOR IN THE UNITED STATES. Without question the best college proffesor I have ever had. If you have the chance to take his class DO IT!!!
Awesome teacher! count how many times he says Woah in a lecture, you will lose count I promise.
Basically my favorite professor of all time. He's pretty much a rockstar. I never knew that a Math professor could be so personable, not to mention hilarious. I'll probably go sit in on a lecture just to laugh.
good teacher, class is mandatory, he is absolutely crazy though! i love him but the class is so hard...
He is a crazy guy, makes the class entertaining and gives you a reason to go. Great teacher, very easy to understand. He is very good at teaching Calculus 1. I'm excited to take Calculus 2 with the same guy!
Sitting in one of his 3 hrs reviews right now. Best professor ive ever had. Does a 3 hr review for midterms and finals and if you go they are extremely helpful! If you have a chance take a class with professor lang do it. You wont regret it. Extremely helpful.
He's a good professor. He lets us out early so it seems a little stressful getting everything that needs to get done done.
Last math class i took was Precalc junior year and got a C. Scored a 30 on my math and was placed into Calc 1. I was freaking out until i realized his lectures are fun and easy to follow. Although he only goes through the basics in class, the lab sections are extremely important to learn how to apply the basics to harder problems!
Jeff is a very charismatic professor that loves to tell random stories to keep the students' attention. While this was useful at first, it became pretty obvious that his stories were routine and most of the time we all seemed to be fed up on his strayed focus. His class is VERY easy, but I do not feel confident in myself after being taught by him.
Very fun class, he kept everything entertaining and made the class one of the best experiences of my freshman year. Go for him for math whenever you can.
Jeff Lang will always make you laugh. He makes a subject that is very hard and often boring REALLY fun. He's a great teacher.
Really funny guy. 60 bonus points for missing less than 3 lectures. Teaches you next to nothing about calculus, but 121 and 122 were my easiest classes.
I think that people undervalue the comedic aspect of Jeff Lang's lecture routine. Not many people could sit through a Calculus lecture otherwise. I think it's interesting, but even I need to get a little laugh to wake me up here and there. I believe that he's one of the most genuine guys I've ever met, and I'd damn near join the math dept under him
Best teacher I've ever had, hands down. If you ever have a chance to get him as a teacher, do it.
Jeff Lang is probably the most entertaining professor you will find, absolutely hated calc, but hardly missed class just because this guy is so funny.
Definitely not a very serious teacher (which can be good and bad). Ends class at least 10 minutes early every day. Attendance strictly speaking isn't mandatory, but counts for significant extra credit. Clarity is 5/5 in the sense that he speaks clear english (which is more than I can say about most of KU's calc teachers).
Jeff is an incredible teacher. Even those not interested in math tend to adore his class. Jeff engages the class with stories about his hectic youth and has a repertoire of jokes under his sleeve. He teaches the subject clearly and genuinely cares about teaching. He is the best professor I have encountered at this university hands down.
He's a pretty good teacher and bonus points for attending lecture are a life saver.
Very Good.
Jeff is the best teacher I've had not only at KU but in my entire life. He manages to hold my attention for an entire lecture and keeps class interesting. Above all he is a genuinely nice guy and cares about his students success.
Jeff Lang is one of the funniest teachers I've ever had. You don't HAVE to go to class, but I like going to class because he makes it enjoyable. Also, don't buy the book! The homework is done online and you just need to buy the access code for that. You get so many bonus points in the class and the final is optional.
Ridiculously easy class. Go to lecture, answer questions he asks to the class, and study lightly for each exam. Also try to claim a seat close to the front. There is a TON of extra credit for coming to lecture, answering questions, or scoring perfectly on the exam. He's a very funny guy as well. Highly recommended.
Easiest class you will ever take in your life!! I already knew most of the material from my middle school math classes. He curves the tests, they're only about 22 questions each, final is optional, and he explains everything perfectly. FUNNIEST PROFESSOR EVER! He also ended the course 2 weeks early this semester for those who didn't take the final!
Very easy class.Middle school/HS stuff.Don't need the textbook, just the code.Homework is online and harder than the test, but still very easy.400 points total in class and I got 460 points. His jokes can be inappropriate, but he is still nice.Attendance is extra credit and is worth 40 EC points.Tests are easy-I always got 100% or above.
If you're taking an undergrad course, he's super easy. Don't think that will carry over to grad courses; you have to work just as hard as any other 800-level math. Then again, if you're a grad student, why the heck are you looking at sites like this? Class is actually pretty boring; rarely tells jokes, probably because there's just no time for them
Funniest teacher you will EVER have, but the lectures get very boring after a while. Its a super easy A, and he gives serious chances for extra points - I ended the semester with a 423.5/400.
Very funny professor with a simple-structured class. Doesn't make math any more difficult than it needs to be. This guy can teach math.
Great and funny teacher, I don't like math and he makes math really fun and I enjoyed every class I went too. He jokes about his house he rent and his wife all the time.
Absolutely the best class ever. Prof Lang is completely hilarious and willing to work with you, and he gives SO MUCH EXTRAC CREDIT. Ended up being more than 12% on your final grade. 12%... extra credit! Take this class!!
Best Professor ever. Outstanding, Funny, Interesting lectures and Amazing Human being.
He actually makes learning fun. He's very smart, but knows how to teach the subject very well.
He makes the learning experience fun. He tells lots of jokes to help liven up the boring topic of math and keeps students engaged.
Gives fantastic lectures!
Show up to get the extra points he allots!
The only professor I've had who managed to be engaging in a 600-person class. The content was so easy that paying attention in the lectures was hardly necessary, but you'll want to show up anyways because he's so entertaining.
He is the best math teacher I have ever had. All of the lectures are engaging, and he helps students gain a deep conceptual understanding of math. I never knew math could be so much fun. I learned so much in his class!
Dr. Lang is the dopest professor out there and the only reason most KU students pass engineering calc. God Bless this man
Was very helpful and understanding when one-on-one. Lectures were amazingly engaging, even for math. BY FAR MY FAVORITE PROFFESSOR
Amazing professor
Jeffery Lang was the best math professor I've had in college. Knows how to keep the class fresh, and knows the material well.
Excellent professor
A great professor gives Great lectures
He's awesome! He gives bonus points if you answer his questions in class (it can be a lifesaver). He is very clear with what will be on the test (a question from the homework, a proof he wants you to memorize, a computation problem, etc). He's really funny and entertaining and I always was able to pay attention in class. I highly recommend him!
Professor Lang is the bomb! You literally just have to sit in lecture and you'll be on your way to a solid A!
He is a goofball. His lectures can seem like a circus at times, as he goes off on tangents and isn't as familiar with the lecture slides as some other professors, but I can't say I've ever been in a class where I've laughed as much as I have in his. I'd definitely try to take a class with him. Only Dr. Brennan a.k.a Math God is a better choice.
Great professor and you learn a lot in his class. In the calc 3 I too, someone else wrote and graded the tests and those were super hard. Jeff was an amazing professor, but get ready to study hard for the exams. Math 127 is not curved.
He always makes class interesting, cracks jokes, and generally keeps up with the times. He's a "cool" professor. My only complaint is that he will skip over topics that he doesn't think are as important but maybe important in order to learn in later lessons. Long story short, be prepared to learn 1 or 2 concepts on your own.
One of the best lecturers I have ever had for sure. Jeff Lang is very helpful, engaging, and just straight up hilarious in class. Outside of class, he isn't the one righting or grading the test, but will decide to send helpful homework tips via email at 2am, I don't know how the guy does it. .... Woah.
I never thought I'd hear college students hysterically laughing in a lecture hall until I met Jeff Lang. I actually found myself looking forward Calculus III, just so I could hear his outrageous jokes or see how he could relate his obscure stories back to Calculus. Dr. Lang's course was an experience and I wouldn't hesitate to take it again.
Jeff Lang is the funniest teacher I have ever had.
If you are looking at Dr. Lang's RMP, then you are probably going to have him as a professor. Get ready for the best semester of your life.
558 was my first proof class, and I am so happy it was. Lang helps you get comfortable with proofs, is fantastic at making the information easy to consume, and is a very funny and personable lecturer. I didnt like the subject matter, but even with that said, I always loved going to class. Grading is fair. Prof Lang is a national treasure, honestly
When I say amazing lectures, I mean that they're super entertaining because he is hilarious, not that I actually learn. He definitely knows his stuff but his work is a bit difficult to follow and sometimes he decides to skip content because he doesn't feel like doing it. I can't be mad, though, because he is the funniest professor I have ever had.
I took this class in the summer and it was the BEST decision I could have made. Its 1/4 of the work of it during the usual semester! 100% take this class in the summer if you have the chance.
This professor goes through concepts quick and wastes some time, learned a lot, hilarious. DO ALL PRACTICE EXAMS PROVIDED for Exams as they are almost identical to the first two exams. Extra credit can be earned by using clicker in every class and doing "warmups". Class attendance is not required. Class was not too hard for those who prepared.
Very hilarious fellow. He works through problems with you, and has a fun time doing it. Honestly I could sit there and just listen to him talk, soooo entertaining. Also the reviews before each exam are so clutch, definitely go to those
Jeff Lang is absolutely hilarious, and whenever you're looking for what Calculus lecture to take try to get Jeff. His Lectures are good, but its also entirely possible to get an A in the class by just looking at posted study materials and homework/quiz solutions. (This goes for all KU Calculus classes as well)
One of the best professors I've ever had - very entertaining, great at teaching, encourages students. Take a class with Dr. Lang if you can.
There were no lectures for the summer semester course, the only options available to us were the textbook and the "help" sections on the homework website page. Take this class/professor in person if possible, otherwise you WILL have to teach yourself all of the material.
I never would have imagined my least favorite subject would be my favorite class. It is all thanks to Jeff. He is a wonderful lecturer, and if you view the lecture slides online before class, the lecture is pretty much just a confidence booster. The lecture hall explodes with laughter daily, and his funny stories remove all stress from the room.
great professor
Loved the lectures, great professor would recommend.
The course itself is fairy hard but Jeff's funny and his lectures are good. If you have the opportunity to have him as a calc prof take it
He makes the class fun by making a lot of jokes. However, by doing this he doesn't always get to all the material. I loved his teaching style, but I can understand how if you are struggling in the class his lectures could be unhelpful.
Ah Jeff. This was one of if not THE best teacher I've ever had. He's an amazing person, makes jokes the whole time, and makes lectures fun and engaging. If you can take a class with Jeff, it's an experience you DON'T want to miss! The class is VERY test heavy which is why it was difficult for me. My test anxiety makes it rough, but i still passed.
Jeff is funny and very generous. There is 10 homeworks, with the lowest dropped. Two tests and one final. He drops the lowest 100 points at the end of the semester to make it easier for people to get good grades. He goes on funny tangents a lot. You need to memorize a lot of proofs to do well on the exams. He gives extra credit for participation.
Best thing about him is being Muslim
Amazing lecturer. Tests were much easier than the homework (sometimes the homework gets ahead of where the lecture is).
There were pre lecture quizzes worth extra credit. Best professor I had. Really funny and worth taking. Go get some Gatorade.
Jeff somehow makes Calculus hilarious and entertaining. He is quick paced so make sure you're paying attention. I love Jeff 10/10
I love Jeff. He gives tips and tricks in the lectures that genuinely help with the exams and lab worksheets. Truly the best part of my day. He is just great.
Honestly, the best professor I have had at KU. Very direct, forgiving, and an amazing lecturer who makes class worth going to. Any class with Jeff is a class worth taking.
Jeff Lang makes all of the lectures very entertaining. He loves making jokes and those jokes are what kept me engaged in class. He isn't the best at getting through all the material, but there is plenty of help outside of lectures so you can succeed in the class.
Awesome professor! Hudgins is great but Jeff is the professor you should try to get for math125. Explains concepts very well and clearly, something rare in math. His thought process is super intuitive, proving his mathematical genius brain to be true. Go to class every possible time and pay attention, will help with lab/hw.
Jeff was truly an inspiration to our class. He came to class every day ready to make everyone laugh with his out-of-pocket jokes and stories from his childhood. He got straight to the point and taught concepts that we needed to succeed on quizzes and exams. Would recommend taking Calc with Lang over Hudgens. Awesome
This professor is one of the best professors one could ask for when coming into calc. his lectures as detailed enough to understand clearly and the process he uses to help students learn is phenomenal. He cracks jokes(some out of pocket but that is what makes him so funny), but knows his mathematics. I highly recommend him for calc 1!!
Jeff manages to make calculus entertaining in his lectures, and explains the information thoroughly and makes the information easy to understand. He could easily make a living being a stand-up comedian with his sense of humor, and makes getting up early in the morning for calculus well worth it.
Lang is not a bad professor if you have taken previous calculus courses. However, he is not great for someone with little experience in calculus. He is good at explaining concepts but not good with example problems. He skips over them in lectures. He is entertaining, but if you want to actually understand calc to don't take it with Lang.
He makes me want to go to the lectures because he makes it enjoyable. However, he skips lessons sometimes and he can be difficult to retain information from if you don't already have knowledge in the subject he is lecturing in.
Lang is a funny prof and it's cool at first, but it ultimately created a bad environment. It was never quiet in there, he doesn't do anything about people talking loudly during lecture, and he just keeps teaching despite the noise. I learned everything from the math helproom and SI sessions, and the lecture only benefitted me with iClicker points.
whatever you do, do not take him unless you have taken calc before. I had only taken pre-calc in high school and the entire semester has been awful and difficult. I have not learned anything and I am more confused then when I got here. He will go so fast and skip over slides he deems unimportant. Don't take.
hes an awesome amazing professor
This professor is wildly entertaining, but does not actually teach you anything. He is fantastic for returning calculus students such as myself, but I know many people who had to turn to the other professor, or the internet to answer their questions because he skipped steps while explaining problems.
He is a driven and charismatic professor. He is easily well spoken and I love it when professors are passionate, when they love the modulus/the field because they teach it well.
The greatest professor of all time I miss him so much. 100000% recommend.
I enjoyed attending his lectures because he keeps you engaged in what is being taught. I would say that it might be hard to keep up if you've never taken calc 1, but if you're retaking calc 1 from high school, I say this course is a breeze.
The course itself is easy, it has loads of review and practice material. He is wildly entertaining but doesn't teach you much. The exams are the easiest you get in your college career. Hudgins is a better choice.
Hands down the best prof I have ever had. Turned a hard pure math class into a class that was fun, engaging, and enriching. If you have the chance to take a class with him, there is no reason why you shouldn't.
Best teacher i have ever had
Lang is an entertaining prof, but can be hit-or-miss for some. Grab a free textbook, attend lectures, and use tools like unstuck ai to ace this calc class.
You have no idea how respected and inspirational you are to so many people around the world.
He is very clear on what he's going to put on the midterm or final, even giving you a list of proofs where one will appear on the test. He gives amazing lectures and teaches 558 so well even giving little quips from time to time, the single best Mathematics professor in all of KU.
This guy is amazing. Make sure you take his lecture if taking 290. It is the easiest class at KU.
Lang is an amazing teacher and his lectures are incredibly informative, the class isn't difficult at all if you put in the effort to learn and succeed. Very clear on what's going to be in the exams, with a list of proofs that guarantee one will appear. He also gives extra credit for contributions in class.
