Easy class, but the prof is erratic with his lessons. He posts the notes online and is more than willing to help you with any problems you have...tests are combo of essay/multiple choice.
Horrible class. He is really random and has a habit of giving writing assignments the night before class. He also lost several students assignments throughout the semester. overall, a nice enough guy, but beware!
He is an excellent teacher with interesting, creative lectures that will go out of his way to help you. But be warned, if you are a slacker or whiner don't take his classes because he doesn't let students push him around.
I like him as a prof and recommend taking him. He loves history! I'm not a history fan, but his class wasn't bad. In fact, I'll be taking him for 164. If you study, read, and go to his exam study groups, you'll do fine.
Professor Littlejohn is one of my favorite professors ever! He uses movie clips, etc. in addition to the book and notes. You have to study for his tests, but they are fair. I definitely recommend taking him!
This guy was bad news from the beginning. For a freshmen course, he is berserk w/ his tests. Often times, going out of his way to have multiple "right" answers resulting in tricking you. Gets off topic way too much as well. I would not take him unless u want 2 work ur tail off hardcore for a non-advanced course. I say this being an honors student.
He required us to buy 5 books. Then told us that we wouldn't have to read the 850pg book. So I didn't drop the course. After the drop date, he changed his mind about the book. His exams were hard and mostly essay. If you can't read thousands of pages in one semester for one little class, don't take this guy. He's way too liberal!!!
He REALLY knows his stuff and although that can be a good thing, he thinks he's teaching for History majors & HE IS NOT! The class is entirly tooooo much, and he demads more than he should. Tests are NOT clear, study sessions do NOT help, the only reason I got an A was because I was getting 'outside' help from a paid tutor. If you can, avoid him!
Passionate about what he teaches, you don?t have to show up but there is no way you will get a good grade if you don?t. You will have to study for his tests but they are fair. I recommend taking him if you plan on learning something. If you are looking for an easy A forget about it.
If you do not go to class then you will not get a good grade. I thought he was interesting and tests were easy for me but on first test was essay lowist grade was a 16. Switched to multiple choice and was a little harder then. I thought it was an easy A if you do your homework consistantly
Loved him! He is a super nice guy and you can really tell that he loves history! trys to cut a few jokes so laugh! Test are kinda tricky. I made a C in the class but he is a really good teacher! I just really didnt like his Partner teacher which was Nancy Zey stay away from her! over all Im taking his class again!
Littlejohn is really an AWESOME prof!!!! He may go off on a tangent but it is almost always relevent. He is very comical and energetic and really appreciates in class discussion. he gives extra credit out of class and in class. To pass the exams you really need to attend because he gives A LOT of info in class and PPT only outlines the lessons.
This is one of my favorite classes. He really knows his stuff and is friendly. If you do your homework and read the power point notes before the test, you will get an A.
His class was like i was in high school again... i would take him again. He is very passionate about his subjects and wants to help you pass.
Awesome teacher. He really loves what he does and knows his stuff. He makes you want learn and do the readings. Aaand he is freaking cute.
He clearly LOVES History BUT, He does NOT give any direction for projects & tests. It's like he EXPECTS you to know what he needs. Study sheet for the tests, just a bunch of readings no questions??? Also WAY TOO MUCH reading for a non-graduate level class. Do not take him unless you want to get confused!!!!
Stay on top of the quizes and you should get a pretty easy A.
Overall great teacher. Gives tones of extra credit! Lots of quizzes but they're online so its basically opened note. 3/4 test online including the final!!! As long as you put in work its an easy class.
Awesome teacher give a ton of extra credit. He gets really into his lecture which help you remember for his test. Homework(are online quiz) are Due before class and use the book and you will do fine on them. If you don't make a good grade in this class it you fault cause he helps you in all types of different ways
I took his class online because I hate history. Best choice I ever made!! Quizzes online best 10 of 12. You will have to watch online documentaries and submit two portfolios (instead of midterm/final). Easy A!!
Amazing professor. The direction on the paper and assignments could be better. This was a history capstone course, and he expects you to treat it that way. He's extremely helpful, responds to emails promptly. I would take him again in a heartbeat!
Professor was great - very responsive and helpful. Corrections help guide improvements in later papers and grading was straight forward. Course material was extremely interesting. I would definitely take the class and professor again.
9/11 His-Interesting class. A lot of reading required. Grade based entirely on writing. No tests or quizzes. If you don't like to write this may not be the class for you. Professor very helpful and answered all questions quickly. Demanding class, but highly recommended.
Masters level course. Great subject matter expert and very passionate about the subject. Uses a wide variety of techniques to keep students interested and focused and provides OUTSTANDING feedback. Would absolutely recommend him, he will challenge you and help you succeed!
Assigned work during Spring Break. Tests and quizzes are all online. He goes off on tangents during class and doesn't make history very fun to learn. I would avoid his class simply because I hate doing the class online.
Entire grade based off of online quizzes, online tests, and ONE online exam. I was supposed to be taking this class in person– not online. Gave work during breaks, went off topic during class (or harped on a topic that was not important.) Overall- Not a good experience. Somewhat nice guy, but not an enjoyable class.
He is not very helpful or considerate. He wants his class to be the center of your life.
He was hard please don't take in summer if you have a life it was not good
Dr. Littlejohn knows a great deal about researching and writing history. His civil rights class is excellent. He helps students improve their writing by giving good feedback on papers. He takes time to work with individual students. I see him spending time with many individuals in our class- people on different levels- and he helps them all.
Course: HIST 5097: Long Civil Rights Movement , An online class so more writing than in person. A writing assignment about every other weeks occasionally only 1 week apart, if based on shorter reading or video. If you email or talk to Dr. Littlejohn he is quick to respond and gives good caring responses , wants to see his students succeed.
HIST 6394: Anti-Communism and Civil Rights: Its a Grad course not supposed to be easy. Research class, Great discussions, opportunity to do archival original research. Tries to help you build your CV. Books are academic books (not text books). Papers are Reviews every other week in most cases, first 8-10 weeks then research paper. Very helpful

Took online. Class was easy to follow. Textbook qizzes, book review, and two essay assignments.
Most of the course is based online yet he isn't very understanding when it comes to internet glitches .
For one, the class was structured like a history course when it was supposed to be an open dialogues course. Additionally, Littlejohn would assign 2-3 readings that were 15-30 pages each to have read BEFORE the next class. Then he ALWAYS goes over time and won't release the class. For finals we had to stay an extra HOUR! Not a fun class.
Great professor!
I took 3 classes from Dr. Littlejohn. I liked that I learned HOW to do historical research and create a product that was my own. He encourages good research, and provides great feedback.
The overall class wasn't hard work load was manageable, reading helped but mostly opitonal in my opinon, he has slides online that provide moderate help, only problem is that he very strict on attendence, late work will not be accepted for ANY expection, this is what kept me from a A in his course, although he is a pretty easy grader.
Littlejohn makes his lectures pretty exciting and can be engaging at times, but he includes so much information that it's overwhelming. It can be tricky trying to figure out what exactly to study for the exams. He is super strict on attendance, and if you have too many absences, it will hurt your grade. But overall, I learned a lot from him.
Honors seminar. Found this class really interesting! We read four books, do discussion boards on them, and write a book review for each one. I learned a lot and it really opened my eyes. Definitely recommend!
Littlejohn was a great professor, just talked very fast. Test were mildly difficult but you learn ALOT from his lectures when you really listen. Had a lot of writing assignments that were easy and boasted your grade. Attendance was a part of your grade, but textbooks arent required. Liked him so much, I am taking him again!
I really enjoyed his class. Its a lecture based class so if you hate lectures youll hate his class. He lectures off a PowerPoint which he posts online and the textbook is provided for you online so you dont have to buy it. He gives writing assignments that are not hard you can google most of them. Hes awesome!! Loves his students too!
Prof. Littlejohn was nice and enthusiastic, but was not a great educator. Did not teach material on tests and did not give access to learning the material on the tests. Only homework given were eight papers over things typically not on tests and class is not worth taking. Alot harder than it should be.
As long as one reads the assigned book and takes notes in class you will pass the class. He gives several opportunities for extra credit, flexible with making up missed assignments, text book is free online, attendance is required and is available outside class. He's passionate with each lecture! I will be taking him again next semester.
He is a good professor but you write alot of papers and the tests are difficult. You can miss upto a certain number of classes then it starts to affect your grade.
Hes a good teacher. And if you have any interest in history, it will be a fun class.
Tests are very hard and do not relate to lectures. Writing assignments are fairly easy just time-consuming. Do not take this class
The class is lecture heavy, and the lectures usually have nothing to do with the tests. The papers are pretty easy though (mostly only one page long). He also blew up on my class because we were registering for classes during his class, which is when we were assigned to register.
He makes his own test which always are the most random questions that y'all barely talk about in class, but he does give a lot of extra credit so do it because you'll definitely need it. Also gives many writing assignments that usually require a lot of reading and or writing.
Relatively easy class. Mostly lectures that go over "main idea" topics for each Unit and chapter. Writing assignments are easy and are time consuming but do not take much effort. Tests are difficult, but if you study and review all the PowerPoints for that unit it is easy to pass them.
Gives ample extra credit beginning of semester and then dwindles down towards the end. Grades writing assignment very easy. Test are much harder and are timed online.
You have to have 8 out of the 12 writing assignments done by the end of the semester, but they are not that hard and only take about an hour or so. He only gives out 4 online tests throughout the entire semester, with no final. He is very understanding and honestly one of the sweetest and funniest professors I have ever had. I highly recommend him.
You can tell he has passion for teaching, but he does have some flaws for every good thing. The tests are online, but they contain seemingly random details to ask about. Extra credit exists at the beginning of the semester, but that's about it. Also, if you are absent 6 or more times you automatically are at risk of failing, so be careful.
The test are extremely difficult. The test are very detailed and you are only given one minute per question. The test have a lot of images which require more time than what is given. He takes attendance daily and it is a grade. So if you don't show up you will not pass this class.
Very lecture heavy and you can only miss 3 classes or he drops you a letter grade. There were 4 video quizzes and 4 writing assignments which were easy A's. There were 4 online exams which were extremely difficult to get a B or better on because they were so detailed and the information on them was not covered in class.
Littlejohn is an excellent professor that's passionate about teaching. He's very animated while giving lectures and loves answering questions. Tests are moderately hard so you'll need to study. Writing assignments are easy and he provides a few extra credit opportunities.
He makes me drive without my seatbelt. He gets but hurt cause we have lives and other classes outside his. His TAs were uptight af. DO NOT TAKE HIM
I do not recommend his class. I dont feel like I learned anything in his class, his tests are extremely hard, and he is not understanding at all.
In class was fine, class was mostly comprised of lectures and tests with the occasional Writing Assignment (which werent bad at all). Once COVID happened youd expect it to be a little easier or maybe the same but he had an Exam for every week instead of maybe 2x a Month. He took off the writing assignments that actually helped your grade improve
Awesome professor! This was an Honors requirement seminar. We learned about the history of pandemics, and wrote five, 500 word papers. There were seven topics to choose from so if you missed one you could still have another chance to earn a grade. Littlejohn was patient, directions were clear, and he provided zoom meetings for discussion.
It was easy in the beginning but somewhere along the line he got upset w my class and things went down the drain and he got unnecessarily hard. Very lecture heavy and you can tell he's very passionate but at times it gets boring.
Very passionate. Tests based heavily on the lecture, but also contains information from the book that is provided for free. The tests are hard if you don't pay attention in class & on average he gives 1 hr for 50 questions and you cannot go back to check answers, however it's not on lockdown. multiple writing assign. & film quizzes through the sem
Dr. Littlejohn gives a lot of extra credit to help everyone pass his class. His lectures seem to draw on but I think its because I'm not a history buff. The tests are hard, but pay attention and it should help
You are only graded on 12 assignments. He will NOT take any late work no matter the circumstances. If you miss an assignment, take every chance you get for extra credit because of how little grades he has. While he does respond to emails, his answers are very short and unhelpful.
I'm not a lazy student and I struggled in this class, I did every extra credit assignment, I went to every class and wrote notes, but the test are pretty much nothing like the review or notes. It's a lot of "Which of the following is _____________ EXCEPT?"
He is VERY lecture heavy. I honestly had no idea what was going on in any of his classes and usually guessed on the exams. BEWARE; they are all very detailed and specific. The assignments are very easy but you do have to work for them. They are all writing assignments and typically are time consuming. Other than the awful lectures, I loved this guy
Very lecture-heavy, assignments aren't too hard but beware there are a ton throughout the semester, such as film quizzes, writing assignments, etc. Questions on tests are very specific to the lectures. Professor Littlejohn is very passionate about history and overall a sweet professor!
HIs exam are hard! You have to go to class or watch his lectures if you want an A. I got a B because I have never watched his lectures. He is fair with grading homework. The course have 4 exams 4 movie quizzes and 4-5 reading assignment. He is also a very nice prof. It a easy class if you are on your studies.
Professor Littlejohn will post all the material needed for the course. He allows you to pick which papers to write about, making it much more enjoyable. He isn't a tough grader and responds to emails fairly quickly (faster than most professors). If I had this class in person, I know I would have enjoyed it
Professor Little john is a good professor you can definitely see how passionate and well informed he is about History in his lectures, he makes sure you have a good understanding of the topic and is hilarious. His class is not hard but make sure you make it to his lectures, there is about 4 film quizzes and 4 questionnaires. extra credit opp...
DO NOT take this Professor if you can avoid him absolutely do. He does not know how to run an online class. He grades harshly and does not give you any type of feedback to explain his grades. He also barely gives you time on quizzes and exams he also doesn't even tell you what he's looking for. If possible avoid him he is the WORST.
Took his class over the summer. You can do the class whenever you want as long as you did the weekly assignment. 1 assignment per week for 4 weeks and you need to write 1000 words per assignment. He posts 6 or so questions and you choose which of them you want to do - some have 10 plus questions, some are worksheets with an attached video to watch.
Professor Littlejohn is very passionate about his job and history. You can tell he's knowledgeable in his field, but he isn't very good at lectures. Going into class I was always confused so I just did the rest of it online. If there is another professor you can take, do it.
Littlejohn should not be teaching History 1302 he needs to be teaching a higher level class. He doesn't realize that not everyone knows what he's talking about. His film and writing assignments can take a while because he wants you to watch documentaries. His exams arent easy to he expects you to know everything off the top of your head.
Difficult class but he knows his stuff. Tests are the hardest I've ever taken.
Professor Jeffrey Littlejohn is an exceptional professor and one that you will cherish and remember. Apart from him being an excellent educator, he does display a genuine interest in the well-being of his students .
We had about a paper a week over an hour-ish documentary. He wanted 250 words but would not give papers A's unless the papers were 300+ words, and did not provide any feedback whatsoever so there was no improving. He drops three of the paper grades, but for the last three he makes the content 8 hours rather than the one.
Probably one of the worst teachers i've had yet. SO MUCH WORK JESUS! He gives 2 hour documentaries every week sometimes 2? They don't even help on the test. Also his reviews for the test SUCK. Not a good teacher!! DO NOT TAKE HIM WITH EVERYTHING YOU HAVE!!
Too much work every week, I don't recommend taking him, this class has been stressing me out too much to the point where I've actually cried because my grade was low.
Assignments usually include 2-3 hours of video and reading material to read and watch each week, then writing 300 words on said video. there are also quizzes on the videos every other week.
this class was so time consuming. he assigned LONG articles and hours of videos PER week. on top of that you had to write 300+ word answers to questions weekly+ regular quizzes. the test are very hard and the course itself is very difficult. would not recommend this professor.
he never responded to emails , and class only had 4 quizzes, 1 book review and a midterm + final , good luck
I had a bittersweet relationship with this class. I did learn a lot! Ensure you take your film quizzes and portfolio responses seriously because they can float your exam grades if you don't do so well. The exam reviews are LONG but I still did them ( for no credit ) to benefit me on the exams. The exams are the most challenging part of this class!
Professor Littlejohn spends a LOT of time lecturing. I had no idea what was going on in any of his classes and on tests, I would usually guess on the exams. They are extremely specific and detailed. There are time consuming written assignments and film quizzes. He was a great instructor aside from his lengthy lectures.
Difficult to communicate with, will not allow late submissions or changes if the online system messes up and deletes what you submitted or what was written. I am still not even sure what happened and he refused to work with me dropping my grade from a B+ to a D+ by a single assignment. Repeats questions on assignments as well.
