Lots of fun! Difficult to keep up with the reading sometimes and some readings were more interesting than others. Also his enthusiasm is so great that you can't get a word in edgewise at times. I'd highly recommend him if you want a world lit class that's different from the usual suspects.
He is a great teacher. He makes you think. He's not one to let you think you're going to just get by. Tests are not easy but lets you bring notes from class. I recommend the teacher if you want to be enlightened.
He really is an excellent teacher who wants his students to learn the material. I found him extremely accessible by email and phone when I had problems. Certainly would recommend to someone, just be prepared that you are in for a lot of reading and writing! You will really come out with something though, which is worth it.
deceitful.Starts & continues semester giving a false sense of security for choosing his class. Tests gradually become more difficult & does not return any graded work to students to see their mistakes (tests/essays/research project).following teacher assessment attitude towards class changed drastically & work load increased during finals week!
He is a terrible teacher. Obsessed with the concept of "duality" and its application. Never explains full what he means by this concept. His grades are 100% arbitrary and do not reflect your effort. AVOID! I read more than I ever have for any class in this one and it did not pay off as much as i would have hoped.
Keeps graded papers and you can only see them by appointment...How can you better yourself if you never get to see your grade...never understood testing style...no pre prep for test
He is very hard. He likes to try new things at student's expense which is not good. DO NOT TAKE HIM very boaring.
Started the semester giving a false sense of security about his method of teaching. Method progressively declined until finally hitting rock bottom, ironically immediately after the class finished the teacher assessment on him.
His "teaching" is: agree with his incomprehensible concept of "duality" or receive completely arbitrary grades for your efforts. Thinks this general ed course is a graduate level research course. Overestimates his importance. Doesn't think too highly of opinions that contradict his. Never demonstrates how your papers "earned" the grade he doles out
Too much Reading in class with about 4essays and a research paper
at the beginning of the semester said that as long as you could back up your opinion he would let you speak your mind, I think he meant as long as your opinion is the same as his you can speak your mind. won't listen to another perspective even if it's valid. thinks students who say there is too much reading are lazy
Mr.C is awesome. He is soo funny and makes the class interesting. His class does require a lot of thought and time and is a bit hard, but you learn a lot. I would recommend his class!!
Mr.C is awesome! His class is a bit hard and requires a lot of work, but you learn a lot and he is so funny! He's very understanding and he's there to help you with any questions or problems you might have. I wish he taught something else so I could take another one of his classes!
Mr. Cebulski may be hard, but you're going to LEARN a lot about writing. He's fair with the grades, we can revise a paper after it's been graded and he records the higher grade.I learned a lot in his class!I won't take 1102 until I can be in his class! I want my A!
Mr. C mIGHT SEEM hard, but He's fair with the grades, he allows revisions on a paper after it's been graded and accepts records the higher grade.I learned a lot in his class!I won't take 1102 until I can be in his class! I want my A!Excellent teacher! After 30 years out of school, he was helpful and very accessable to help students.
Mr. C is a great person. I am not used to the college writting that he does. Class is fun and he will help you get through it even if you do not understand. Show up and care about your grades and you will do fine.
Mr. C is the worst teacher i have ever had. He is so unclear on everything he talks about. He insists on using such a high level of vocabulary and often just makes circles around what he is saying because of it. You HAVE to agree with all his interpretations on literature or else its wrong. I have never done so poorly in a lit class. STAY AWAY!
Mr. C is so different in the way he teaches. He explains how to consider the concept logically and then offers the mechanics necessary to intelligently do so. All one needs to do is (of course) show up to class and give it your best effort. I highly recommend him. Really considerate guy.
Great professor! If you want to learn and get something out of this class then Mr. C is the teacher for you. His teaching style is great and he is very accessible. If you are willing to work hard and if you ever need help he is always there to help. He is a great teacher. There is alot of reading in this class, but the reading is worth it.
Cebulski's class is definitely hard, but you will learn a LOT. If you put some effort into your writing and show up for class you will make a good grade. He's a bit exuberant and hard to talk to at times but overall a nice guy. Grading system is odd. Had no grades at all until after Drop/Add.
Mr. C is the worst teacher he OBSESSED with his term "duality" he does not give u a clear reason for the grade u have recieved. i always got one comment on my paper yet i had 20 points taken off! i did not learn anything except to be unappreciate of the literature he made us tear apart. veru unenjoyable to read a book in his class. DO NOT TAKE HIM!
Mr. C's class is ridiculous. He encourages students to write papers based on their opinion, but when he grades the papers, if he doesn't agree with your point of view, you're definitely getting a low grade. Which brings me to the next issue: His grading method is very hard to comprehend...Don't ever take this class.
i had cebulski for summer term 08'. A LOT of reading, and often dismisses personal interpretation of poems, stories, etc. Papers are graded harshly--base them on fact, not oppinion. Take notes on HIS ideas, because they will more than likely appear on the tests. Class is pretty easy though--just take good notes and read stories before the tests.
I love to write and read so I was looking forward. I never complained about how much we had to read I thought "Hay its college". Yet when we had to re-write our first paper 5 times with out any words to what we did wrong. He gives no help and just try to disagree. I got a 74 in the class. I ended up being one of the lucky ones to pass, most got F's
Mr. C. is a really good teacher, I started out thinking I would flunk the class and got an A. Don't get me wrong, it's A LOT of work, but this is college right!!! He is very accessible and really will help you if you go to him. He will invest as much in you as you are willing to do yourself. ASK HIM FOR HELP, it really pays off.
Mr. C's class was hard, but definitely well worth it! He was one of my favorite teachers at KSU thus far! His love for literature shows in every assignment, and he is willing to help any students struggling in the class. Lots of reading and writing involved, but you will have learned so much by the end of the semester! Slow grading though.
awful
i am not much of a writer and in his class you definitely need to write. there's always a paper we have to turn in each week. and most of the time he gives it back to us to revise. its too much work considering he's not the only class i have. i wouldn't recommend taking him if you don't enjoy writing a lot.
Mr Cebulski's class is very important to those of us who wish to continue on to graduate school. Writing papers is very important. To succeed you must pay attention & ASK questions. He is extremely helpful. He is hard but you'll learn as much as you want to, be willing to work for your grade.Lots of writing, it's a WRITING CLASS!! DUH!
YES! There are a lot of papers to write, this is a writing class! Second chance to revise every paper but original must be turned in on time. He WILL work with you! Very accessable online after class/late at night. You WILL work hard for your grade but you WILL also learn a lot! NOT a show up and get an easy A class! I will take hi again!
honestly great teacher, extremely helpful. He expects his students to learn how to right on a higher level and as long as you take note of his comments and actually try than it's not a hard class to pass. challenging yes
REQUIRE LOTS OF READING (like 3-4 books). If you don't have time or don't like to read don't take him because his exams are comprehension intensive. There is am essay to write for every exam and a final research paper as well. His class takes LOTS of time. I would say the only bad thing is he is a biased on himself with opinions for the readings
This teacher is AWESOME! I really don't like English or writing, but Mr. C is EXTREMELY helpful & has a dry sense of humor. I took him during the 8 week summer semester & had to write 3 papers. He'll set up conferences with you & completely go through your whole paper & tell you what to change & fix. AWESOME! I would definitely take hium again!

Mr. Cebulski demands a lot of his students, but he has no inhibitions about helping them reach their potential. I learned a lot in this class and worked hard to earn my A. I recommend him to any student who is serious about improving their writing skills.
Cebulski is strange but slightly humerous. You have to do a lot of reading and online discussions. Just read what he assigns and agree with him because he rarely agrees with anything other than his own opinion. Goofy guy, but not a horrible class.
Great teacher! Lots of reading but a very enjoyable class. You better have a good vocabulary because if you don't he will call you out on it! I really enjoy this class during the summer sememster and would recommend him to anyone.
Mr.C is a good guy. He isn't always clear about what he wants, but he does want to help. He demands improvement. A huge part of his class is to CARE about your work. If he can see improvement and care in your work, then he will reward you. Not the easiest class but as Mr.C would say, "This isn't high school anymore"
I did not like his class at all. He is very ambiguous on what he wants out of your papers & then when you turn it in, he tells you you need to do a ton of work to make the paper something totally different than what he asked for in the beginning. He talks alot & class is awfully boring.
Mr. C is a nice guy with a good sense of humor, but his class is definitley the most frustrating English course I've ever taken. The problem is his grading system-- he gives NO grades until the end. However, he does give tons of time to revise papers, and I think he sincerely wants all his students to become better writers.
There is a lot of online content, a LOT of reading, a lot of writing, a LOT of reading, a lot of discussion, oh, and did I mention a LOT of reading? This is a good teacher for this class, but only if you don't mind a LOT of reading.
Poor grading system. You wont know your grades until the end of the semester. He his on an ego trip and our last paper had to be handed in with an additional paper explaining what you learned in the class, giving examples from your last paper- which he said will affect your grade even to a letter difference. dont take him for the sake of your gpa.
He was very unclear what he wanted all semester up until the end when EVERYTHING was due. His grading system was wierd at best. He seemed to choose favorites, a lot. It seemed like once you got on his bad side your grade suffered for it. Waste of time, should of dropped it while I could.
To be honest I hated his class. I thought it was very difficult and at times very hard to understand. Mr. C is not very clear or direct about what he expects to see in students writing. His grading system was very frustrating but also beneficial since he did grade on improvement. I spent a lot of time in the writing lab and I got an A.
Mr. C is a nice guy but his class is anything but enjoyable. His grading system is weird and you don't know where you stand until the end of the semester. Most work was done the last two weeks of class. Instructions were very unclear. Do not take this class if you have any other options. this was my least favorite lit class ever.
Mr C is a fun and humorous guy. He deff keeps you interested by jumping around the class with his lectures. I took the class in Summer and there was A LOT of reading. He offers extra credit. He gave us our grades after each unit and offered an optional essay to replace a test. Great teacher but dont take him if you dont like doing the work.
Those people saying you don't know where you stand until end of semester are completely full of it. He is hyper-sensitive about keeping grades up to date. Fun teacher, lots of reading, lots of work, but rewarding. Plenty of chances to get bonus points.
Mr. C is great teacher, he keeps the classes fun, and is always upbeat. he is very helpful, he is willing to meet anytime to help you improve your work. he isnt just going to give an A away, but he will do as much as he can to help your understanding if you take the time for the class then he will too! i hate Lit, but i liked his class
BEWARE of taking his class, especially online. People on here say he is funny and has a great upbeat personality, but that does not come across in an online setting. Be prepared to do more work in here than in the classes where you actually meet the proffesor. He does not grade within a timely manner either. If you have better opitions, PICK THEM!
Beware...I completely agree!! The workload online was horrible and he grades way too picky. Not helpful and I will not be taking him again.
This guy was my best professor of English! He has high expectations. He didn't let me turn in revisions unless they were good to great quality. Class discussions were interesting. Very nice, down to earth professor. I made a mid-B.
I was apprehensive about taking Mr. Cebulski's class after reading the reviews on here, but I had him fall '10 and absolutely loved his class. He has a sense of humor and is always available for help. Go to class and read the books and you can easily ace this class. You don't even have to read the whole book, only portions are assigned.
He expects you to work but is fair and extremely interesting. There is a lot to learn if you are willing to listen.
This class was definately not my favorite. The design of the class was weird. He allows multiple revisions on papers but they all end up being due the last week of class, which means you don't have any grades until the last week of class. Lectures were dreadfully boring. Nice guy but definately a little odd. Keep looking..
Mr. C is an extremely nice man & quite a cutup. He is more than willing to help you with your papers & guide you on what you need to do. He is not easy professor, but he does give many opportunities to succeed. I had for English 1101 & I am planning on taking him for English 1102. I would recommend him to anyone.
Awesome professor. Plan on reading, his class is interesting and he is funny. He cares if you care.
This teacher assigns way to much work and the tests are completely unpredictable. I do not recommend taking this class unless you feel like reading tons of material each week. He is a really nice guy and will help you out if you seek it, but the material is so broad its not like you can ask him general questions to really prepare you for the test.
I haven't even finished the course yet, but I do NOT recommend him. His tests are ridiculously hard (absolutely no preparation whatsoever for them). Assigns so much reading it's hard to keep up (and I love to read). I am a straight A student and I'm struggling to keep a B. He is incredibly sarcastic & rude.Did not help me when I needed clarity.
He has a wonderful personality! Just sayin! LOL It is not an easy class, but it is very enjoyable. He gives open note tests, but you have to read the material to do well. I recommend him if you are willing to work.
Lots of reading that was hard to keep up with. The tests were really hard and unpredictable, I currently have an A in the class but I've never worked so hard for a grade before. Everything on tests and quizzes are based on interpretation and metaphoric meanings so it's hard to get the "right" answers
This professor is really hard and I've had to work harder on this class than my others. I'm no slacker by any means, but be prepared to work. He has good lectures and is interesting, but I wouldn't take this class again. I have only passed one test..but if Lit is your thing, I suggest this professor.
In class Lectures are extremely boring because he rambles and does not stick to the point. Assigns a ton of reading that is hard to keep up with. Rude/ sarcastic. Refers to everyone as "You americans" as if its a bad thing, constantly talks down to students. Tests are impossible to study for, because they are all deeper meaning and written answers
He cares about his students. It's not an easy class but he makes sure you learn. If you stress about knowing your grades you should avoid taking him.
There is a simple way to make an A in his class: Don't put your opinions in your assignments unless there is cited justification for it from the text/source. The citation should probably be in the same sentence. All you are doing is presenting facts and organizing them in a coherent way. Do that and you'll be fine. It worked for me.
Great teacher who was funny and very reasonable. He was not the easiest professor but if you needed help he would by all means go out of his way to help. Strongly suggest him for 1101 or 1102 class.
I would not recommend if you are a slacker student. I tried so hard in his class and managed to get an A! Do all of the extra credit.. it will help you in the long run i promise!
Hard professor but you will learn from him. If you are a slacker and dont want to do work dont take him. Brought out interseting points in the literature.
His classes are the most boring classes I have ever attended. He rambles a lot, but he does a great job at explaining the text. The papers aren't too bad, but he is sometimes unclear exactly what he is looking for. He is very helpful and easy to talk to. As long as you prove to him that you are trying your hardest, you will get a good grade
If you are taking other classes, have a job, and some semblance of a life..don't take him. I don't have time to do any of my other schoolwork because I am too busy reading his stupid excerpts. Don't take this class unless it is your ONLY class! Takes the subject matter way too seriously for a gen-ed. class.
As mentioned, he does assign a lot of readings. Best for students that either don't work, or are part time.He isn't that hard. Sometimes difficult to understand what he looks for in his discussions... But all you have to do is analyze. I dislike that he wants us to know where novel quotes come from in exams, that is a bit unreal. I enjoy his class.
If you would enjoy being put down in class everyday, Mr. Cebulski is the teacher for you! His class is the most boring class I have taken. He is also one of the least helpful professors. I would not recommend taking his 1101 class or any other class he is teaching.
Im finishing up the semester with Cebulski right now. I have never been good at English but I really enjoyed his class. I got an A. If you come to class, listen, and ask for help, you will pass. THE TESTS ARE OPEN NOTE PEOPLE! He is a nice guy and really knows his stuff. As for the complainers, stop being slackers... its college people!
Cebulski is a narcissistic rambler who will try his very best to give you a very vague response as to why he gave you a terrible grade on a paper. I am an A student. I try. I am worried if I am going to pass the class and keep the Hope Scholarship. Don't take him if you write good papers and expect a grade that properly reflects your effort.
If you enjoy being put down and not understanding what he is asking for take this class. He loves to drone on and on about class e is very boring and there are a lot of little assignments to do.
If you're looking for an easy A, this is NOT the class for you. If you genuinely enjoy literature, writing, & learning, this is your class. Work hard, get an A. Professor Cebulski is a very funny & straight-forward guy. Don't miss class, do all the assignments ON TIME & do all extra credit; it really helps your grade! Got an A, so it's def do-able.
He will give a lot of small assignments that weigh heavily on your grade. Sometimes it is unclear what he is asking for in an assignments, and a lot of questions get answered with questions. I think his goal is to make you think more in this class, but it gets confusing. If you do all of the reading- he gives a standard amount- you're ok.
Took the Hybrid class with Prof C. He is pretty opinionated and can be a little intimidating. For world literature he always says "Take your Western glasses off" because some it is culture that we're not accustomed to. He divides the class into diff units (Chinese, etc.) and there is a paper due a week after each written online test.
I took Mr. Cebulski for both 1101 & 1102. His class is not an easy A, but he has helped me so much. He really makes you think. I am currently in 1102, but received a B in 1101. I am an A student but I learned so much in his class that a B did not bother me. You have to put a lot of effort into your papers. If not, it will be reflected in your grade
He is an excellent professor and provides great feedback. I progressively learned throughout the year and the essay grades reflected it. This is not an easy A, but definitely worth it. He helps a lot!!!
Hated this class! Awful teacher and did not give any good feedback. Would tell me the same things over and over on what to correct, but never really explained what he wanted. I gave him three options for an argumentative paper and he shot all of them down. Not helpful at all in my opinion and hated him and having to go to class everyday!
i wish i could just rate on whether or not i liked the guy. he was a good teacher and pretty smart, I've actually learned a lot since being in his class. He does get off topic and say the most random things some times and he is a tough grader but i do like him. he isn't half bad. Knock on wood cause i haven't finished his class yet haha.
Cebulski is a great guy. If you listen to his advice and tips and don't slac off the whole semester, you'll be fine. You will be a better writer by the end of the course if you try at all. Good guy and good class.
Pretty hard. Gives a lot of required reading and essays. If you're good at handling a lot of work you'll do just fine. The tests are open note so make sure you print out everything you read in class. Overall difficult, so be prepared to work. Not an easy grade.
One of the most stressful classes I have ever taken, and one of the least approachable professors I've ever had. He gives little to no feedback and is pretty condescending.
Professor Cebulski is the most inspiring teachers I've ever had. His class is difficult and he has high expectations, but he is personally invested in every student. He wants you to succeed. That doesn't mean that you won't have to work hard for the grade, but he will do everything in his power to help you improve as a writer and a student.
Worse teacher I have ever had! I have always done well in English until I took his class. If he does not agree with what your subject of a paper talks about don't expect a good grade. He gave very few feedback comments and the grades do not correspond with the comments. I had worse comments on an A paper than a did a B. DON'T TAKE HIS CLASS!!!!!!!
Cebulski is a hard professor so don't expect to slack in this class. However, it is possible to get an A. I received a 99 in this class. Just go to class and do the work. All papers have revisions so do the revisions and you should be just fine.
Professor Cebulski's class is NOT easy, but it is fascinating. I learned a great deal from him and thoroughly enjoyed his class. If you apply yourself, you can definitely get an A. His lectures are animated and he is invested in helping his students. If you are interested in World Lit and want to really get engaged and learn, take his class.
I've had better writing teachers. If you depend on one on one conversations with the teacher to be successful DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!! he will be straight up rude!
He is hard and very vague on what he wants. So, take this class if you like little instruction and a paper due every week.
You really have to try your hardest to make a good grade, while I like him personally he opened my eyes and changed how I write papers. But, he wasn't helpful reviewing my work. If you spent a good deal working on your paper and give it to him he'll give you vague advice and he'll point you in a unclear direction to fix your paper.
He's willing to help, but is often confusing in what he asks out of students. His revision policy helps tremendously with this. Great teacher sometimes, bad teacher sometimes. If you don't slack, very possible to get an A in his course.
He's not the easiest professor in the world, but he is still one of my favorite professor's so far. You better read, go to class, and participate, but if you do, you will probably learn a lot and, if you like English, you'll probably love it. I enjoyed all of the readings. He's also really approachable and he makes his lectures entertaining.
Cebulski is a great professor but his lectures are very long and he tends to get off topic easily. He tries to use references to current evens and sometimes their great and other times not so great. He has an attendance policy so ATTEND CLASS and do all assigned readings! Open note tests.
Cebulski can be intimidating, but he is willing to talk with students. He is a tough grader, I am an A student and got a B in the class. He called an essay in the New York Times a "C" essay. He values effort, so if you try you will not fail. However, don't expect an "A" unless you meet his undefined standard of "excellence." Gives little feedback.
Have never been interested in a literature class, especially this one. WORST experience of my educational career. He tends to be very rude when people in the class provide feedback during lectures. Nothing you say or write on your testessays will ever be good enough for this man. TESTS ARE ALL SHORT ANSWER. Print out everything, tests are opennote
Mr. Cebulski has a bad rep, and frankly I don't get it. If you spend time on your papers, and show you care you'll be fine. He wants you to grow as an educator. Having your opinion is fine but back it up! Always remember context.
Very rude to me and other students. Your opinion doesn't matter, he just wants you to guess his opinion. Not very clear about instructions or what he expects in papers. DO NOT TAKE!
Professor Cebulski has high expectations, but personally I learned how a college-level paper should be written because of it. I learned very quickly that I never knew how to write a paper until he taught me. Anyone that did not like him in my class were ones that did not participate. If you are willing to work hard for your grade, take him.
