Ex-VCU Computer Science professor trying to teach Business Stats. Learning the material with us. Hes not sure half of the time what he is teaching. Always corrects himself the next class. Quizzes every week, HW every week, attendance Mandatory. Puts you on the spot. There are way better COB 191 professors out there at JMU(Stevens, Wood). Avoid HIM!

Homework due everyday and online quizzes every week. Hes not very confident on the subject he teaches and he admits that. Quizzes and tests are very tough so study..if only he could teach better we could better understand the questions. Puts people on the spot in class and tries to embarrass you. He cannot teach. If you can teach yourself math, then go ahead and take his class. I heavily relied on the textbook. It became my teacher. I taught myself everything literally. Its his first time learning and teaching Stats. He goes over math problems in class but quizzes and tests us on concepts. Being a math major myself, I hated his class.

This class is extremely time consumming. You will be required to make massive excel packets that will kill you. Also must be prepared for every class if you want to get a B. I decided that the class was too much work and have not opened my book since the second week of class. I'm pulling a C- D+ so take it how you will. Take it if you have time.

May is a cool guy, but not a good teacher. I don't know about you, but I rather have someone that can teach than someone who is cool. Class does take a lot of time and work. Tests are hard, quizzes are a pain. You can't even see your answers from the quizzes to study from. Homework is a big pain, and unnecessary because they are all simple problems

Dr. May's teaching style doesn't suit everyone. What it does suit is Junior and Senior level students who are expected to graduate ready to work, self-teach, and use logic and intelligence to solve problems. He gives the technical basics, and expects students to learn by doing. He's friendly and eccentric and keeps class interesting. Will be tough.

GO to lecture. Ya he goes over slides but its because nobody does beforehand. Be prepared before each class. HW is only graded harshly because his TA follows a strict rubric. If you read the rubric u will understand. He talks a lot but u can call him out. Office hours get chaotic so talk to the students that go. Dont buy the textbook. Curves r good

He does not teach in class and sets it up as a Q/A. He just answers peoples questions about the notes and hw in class and does not teach the slides. The homework took forever, but you learn a lot on excel, which helped my grade. He curves a lot but I would not take bc he does not teach the material. Tests are all multiple choice/ difficult.

He's not the worst professor, but he doesn't teach u material he only answers questions you have. He is a nice guy, but he sometimes starts ranting on random things that don't correlate to what we're working on. This semester in my class he's told us so many times that he hates us because we don't ask him questions, which is valid but gets annoying

My biggest complaint about May is that he belittles his students and puts us down every class just saying how much we suck. I get it that he's talking to the select few who are failing but at the same time he will rant about it for an hour out of the hour 15 min class. Only thing I like about him is that he curves really well.

Jeffrey May gives preferences to the students he likes in his class. Anyone who struggles with the material might as well not go to his office hours. He literally tore up my use case diagram with a big "X" on the use case. He also insulted me in his office stating that he was "talking to the wind." My advice: Try to find a different professor!

Dr. May definitely knows what he is talking about, but his patience with students is thin and the way he has spoken to me and other classmates is very frustrating. The class structure is where you learn the material yourself and then come to class with questions, so take what you will. Overall, anyone can pass his class but you won't enjoy it.
