Really great teacher. His tests weren't hard, and on every test but the first, he would put extra credit questions from the previous tests! He's a GREAT teacher!!
EXCELLENT TEACHER. HE IS HARD AND DEMANDING BUT YOU LEARN ALOT FORM HIM. HIS CLASS IS VERY INTERESTING AND HE GOES OVER WHAT WILL BE ON THE TESTS. HE'S AWESOME.
I Highly recommend this prof. Really wants you to learn the material. Do the work, come to class, and You'll get an A. Fun class too.
Get teacher. good qualifications. And easy.
He gives you the essay question in advanced, no need for the book, and if you show up for class, and listen you will come out with an A! I did. No real need for the book, just study your notes and remember the lectures! GREAT TEACHER! Makes GOVT FUN AND EASY TO UNDERSTAND!!!
Great Professor, quickly weeds out students who don't give a damn by the first week. Professor supports alternative views, is well qualified, and applies government to every day life through numerous case studies. I'll be taking more of his classes at UT in the future.
Just Take him.. organized, makes thing's interesting as possible for govt. and puts on a good show (meaning Lecture) while in class
Absolutely phenomenal. Extremely knowledgeable. This guy is awesome. I wish I could take all of his classes. You walk out of there learning a LOT. Take him. He is easy too, but that does not mean he is bad. If you are stupid you might get a C. If you study EASY A.
This is one great prof! He also teaches at UT and he expects the same caliber of work from his ACC students. He weeds out lazy students, but if you stick it out he gives plenty of chances to make a good grade. Be sure to stay up on your reading! He will sometimes call students out and stay on them until they give the right answers.
Mediation- experimental class but EXTREMELY VALUABLE to future attorney or paralegal. Role playing helps understand all sides. You settle realistic disputes. Instructor genuinely LOVES to teach.Go to class.Do the work. STUDY! Get an A! GREAT CLASS!You HAVE to take it. I want Advanced Mediation!
This is a class where you learn a lot and have fun doing it! You learn a lot because the instructor is amazing!Come to class, read the assignments, participate in the scenarios and you will do OK. This is something that ALL paralegals and pre-laws had better know because most courts require this before trial. GREAT CLASS!
You will need copy of Federal Rules of Evidence. The textbook is OK;Waltz & Park's Evidence,10th ed.helps.STUDY! KNOW Kumho Tire,Daubert cases!COME TO CLASS! Do the work.Study a LOT!KNOW IT ALL because he may surprise you on exams. Study guide suggests answers.TAKE NOTES!He is a GREAT teacher tells you wht you need to know to pass;rest is up to you!
amazing and enlightening
As an aspiring teacher, Millstone has been inspiring and has peaked my interest in politics, what it means to be a citizen, and the efficacy of grassroots movements on public policy. His lectures are always interesting and informative; he also is notable for his ability to show both sides of an issue. I love him! Take any of his classes!
This teacher is interesting and informative; I never look at the clock in this class and feel I am getting a great education. he has peaked my interests in politics, is humorous and fair. Everything I want from a teacher! This guy deserves mad props! : )
4 tests - lowest score dropped. 1st 2 tests were essay, 3rd was multiple choice, 4th was essay, but easier than 1st two. Frequent quizzes over homework and one research paper based on a government proceeding you attend. Instructor is former prosecutor -- if you're going into law enforcement, this class is for you. Otherwise, steer clear.
Uses dramatics to hold attention. Interesting. Requires the student to contemplate and discuss current events. Easy if you have any interest in learning how your government works.
stay away!
good professor. very smart and interesting. not your typical government class. I learned way more than I expected to.
He knows his stuff. He presents it to you in an interesting manner. You will not think about government the same again. On the other hand, he thinks he rules the world. He yells frequently, purposefully embarrasses students, and he singles out the males in the class quite frequently. Very unfortunate.
Former prosecutor. Dont ask him questions in his class and dont make eye contact with him. Final is optional yet unpassable. Be prepared to memorize 500 vocab words. Not fun to be around.
After reading a few prior comments I have to agree with his attitude differentials versus men and women. He is in class an alpha personality. Has a tendency to single out people for special attentions. Still very clear, understandable, and knowledgeable on the material. Lock eye contact and ask questions; sometimes it sucks, other times it rewards.
Very helpful teacher who wants everyone to understand what he is talking about and will make you think of government in a different way. If you don't like participating in class then don't take him. Gives letters of recommendations to anyone who makes an A in his class. I took 2305 and 2306 and got A's both times.
meanest man i've ever met. he yells all the time. he expects you not to only read the chapter and know them but also the current news, and ever detail he tells you and much more. he doesnt care if you pass or fail and is unhelpful
He's smart, but the class is challenging. My hardest class of the semester. He expects a lot from his students. The tests are really difficult and taking notes in his class is difficult. However, I did learn quite a bit.
I love Millstone! He really knows his stuff! He offers many extra credit opportunities, posts quizzes on blackboard to study and often times yells to keep the class focused. He may seem intimidating, but is really great! Just go to class, listen, take a few notes and voila. He may call on you to speak, so know what is going on.
this teacher is the worst of Acc Rio Grande. He thinks students are witnessess in a deposition. He is very nasty, and he does not have the proper ways to teach. He is very unorganized, and he likes to intimidate his students by being mean. He also never grade any paper that students turned in. He rambles most of the time when he "tries to teach".
Millstone is the man. He really forces you to think and covered a lot of interesting topics. He comes off as very aggressive during class, but he's kind and helpful during office hours. If you don't take US Government with this man you're seriously missing out. Also, the tests and paper are fairly easy. Just make sure you some effort into them.
This is one of the meanest and most arrogant teacher and person I have ever met. I would not take him again. The class wasn't that bad but the way he taught was horrible. He thinks he is better then everyone and when you ask him a question he gets mad. A good teacher know that there is no such thing has a bad question. DO NOT TAKE HIM!!
Professor Millstone teaches like a lawyer... but class is always interesting. He encourages student engagement and critical thinking. He can come off as a bit harsh at times, but you just have to get used to it, he means no harm. Really smart guy, would definitely take one of his classes again.
Good Prof! Make outlines of the chapters & of course take good lecture notes. Doesn't make his tests 50/50 lecture/text. Sometimes he'll do more of one than the other and also throws in current events. Gotta be on your A-Game to get an A. Also, I made consistent eye contact & he never called on me once, I think I made HIM nervous haha <3
I was nervous at first when I took his class. The lectures was very intense but every helpful for tests. Prof. Millstone might be very 'scary' during his lectures, but he is very nice and helpful after class. We had to write current events for every week, but he grades them every easy. Take him if you want to learn!!! I got an A in the class
He seems like a tough teacher and he can be scary, but he makes you think, and I appreciate that in a teacher. Tests are 50/50 textbook/lecture material. Keep up with the reading or you'll lose points on the tests, guaranteed. He likes students who speak up in his class.
He is really understanding with any needs you may have
Excellent professor! Really tells it as it is and makes it interesting. He interacts with everyone, he gets excited about the material. Focuses on political thinking, as does the textbook. I'm involved in several grassroots organizations and learn a lot of relevant information.
awesome professor and willing to help you out if you are struggling. teaches about life, not just the subject.
The first day of class I was terrified. He scared the crap out of me. But once the class picks up momentum you really start to appreciate the way he challenges your thinking! He is one of my favorites! Take him if you can.
Okay, don't be freaked out by Professor Millstone. He can seem rather intimating at first, but look him in the eye when you answer questions and you're good to go. I'm going to make a HP reference here, but hear me out. Millstone is like McGonagall; he's strict but in a way that you can tell he truly cares. My best professor yet.
Read textbook before class, listen for key words in his lecture, mark exact topics he mentions. Write down what he repeats.
Do not take this guy if you are doing distance learning. You will be left out there alone with no help from this instructor. He is rude and does not return emails.
Millstone is probably one of the most interesting professors I have had. I highly recommend that you take his class during the fall/spring semester because he gives you A LOT of information and expects you to know it for the exam.Use all of the study guides online as well as your notes. He also require a term paper.
One of the best professors at ACC. LITERALLY cares about students and is super passionate about his teaching. Anyone with that significant of a career deserves to tell his story and me listen. Former A. Attorney General of Tx, need I say more? If your a lazy kid you will be weeded out so move along. If you want an education, take him.
Dr. Millstone is such a helpful, patient and knowledgeable professor. He likes to help student, and gives them confidence. I personally get a lot help from him. I took the online class, but I met him periodically. He even lend one book for me reading. Every time he smiles and patiently answers my questions. he is the best one. take it!
Great teacher. He will intimidate you during the first half of the class. This is to show the students what it will be like working under a lawyer. All tests are take home but expect to use 10 hours of your time to take them. If you apply yourself and show up to class, easy A. Millstone is wonderful! If you have questions he will help you.
Attempts to teach but simultaneously makes you feel incapable. Almost like a good cop / bad cop tactic, but mostly relies on the bad cop part. Pompous. Tries to foster class discussion, but shuts you down when you try to answer his questions. Don't take his class.
Interesting class but unfair grading policies.
Millstone is a no-BS prof, but he knows his stuff and is super clear with his expectations. if you want an easy A, don't take his classes. he is always willing to meet with students who need extra help, and he is FUNNY - he seriously missed his calling as a VO actor! i learned so much in this class, but he does expect students to be prepared.
Let me tell you. This class put a lot of stress on me. Please read every little bit of the chapters given because he tends to use the stuff you read past on the tests. Outline the chapters. Do the extra credit discussion boards. Write your paper and you will pass. But this is not an easy grade!!! He is very responsive too so thats a plus.
4 test, 2 required discussion boards and 2 extra credit. One research paper and an optional final exam. He does respond to emails, even though not very helpful. BUT read, read, read and you will pass. I found it easy compared to my Algebra class lol. I would take him again in a heart beat! Also, grades are points added up, not average :)
Professor Millstone has a unique way of teaching that may intimidate some. He will know if you didn't read the chapters before you came to class. There are 3 tests and an optional final if you didn't do well on one of the tests, as well as a mandatory written paper. I learned a lot from him and would definitely take his class again, I got a high A.
Professor Millstone is highly intimidating but a very doable class. No needs to freak out I didn't do too well in the discussion forums or the report assignment. If I had not received the extra credit for attending time I would not have received an A.
His lectures really get you thinking in a way you're not used to, especially about politics. Be ready to read a lot of material but it's all really interesting so you won't get bored. He was a prosecutor so you really get some good courtroom "evidence" so to speak.
Dont ever take this guy if youre taking more than 1 class a semester. This guy makes you so dam much, youre not able to do your other hw. I personally thought he was one of the worst teachers i had. He makes you read the news everyday and questions about the news will be on your test. I didnt learn anything from his class so i dont recommend taking
Really tough teacher, expects a lot from his students, but if you actually participate and do your work you will learn so much. Very eye-opening discussions. He enjoys learning from his students. If you care about his class, he will care about you. Don't take his class for an easy A, take it to actually learn about things that affect you.
Teaching tactic is intimidation.U answer wrng he berates & humiliates u 4 giving "C" answer. Kept telling us 2 think like lawyers! YET, was in paralegal class. Only midterm & final, no clear instructions. Tells u not 2 do something & then grades u wrng 4 not doing it. NO FEEDBACK! Not comfortable asking Qs. LOTS of HW. Constantly reneged on assgn
DL class: No study guide for the chapters read. The optional final exam, which counts as extra credit, doesn't have a final review. You'll need to just study based off of whatever notes you've taken. Tests over comprehensive knowledge based on the assigned readings, so make sure you understand it, plus current events in the news(past, or present).
This professor is tough, no doubt! But you will leave knowing a lot more than what you did before. Going to class is important because a good portion of what is discussed in class, is on the test, and you can't get that specific info from the textbook. It is test heavy but if you take good notes, you won't have an issue passing.
I was in his hybrid course that met only once a week. He is a really cool professor. The class did require that you at least skim the chapters needed for the test. You should never miss his class he always gave possible test questions. He can be very sarcastic but it is funny. His lectures are not traditional lectures which helped a lot
He thinks every single thing that comes out of his mouth is the most important thing ever, even if it has nothing to do with the subject of US Government. He also really likes to talk down to students. Only had him once a week and dreaded going to the class itself but the work really wasn't hard just have to stay on top of it.
Prof Millstone is one of the best educators at ACC. Taking Govt during this charged and unraveling political climate helped me process the events since the election. I got a clear view of how our democracy is being tested and came away understanding the constitution, government functions, and the desire to actively participate. TAKE. THIS. CLASS.
Took Intro to PoliSci, Very supportive outside of class, classes are lecture heavy and intimidating, expect raised voices and having your views challenged ( not always a bad thing!) Positive note he encourages learning outside of the class and always has something important to say
If you are taking his class just make sure to read the chapters in the textbook. Textbook was cheap, entertaining, and easy to read just make sure to read & take notes . Exams are multiple choice and real straight forward which makes them easy. Be aware he is really intimidating at first but if you show you care his over all goal is to pass you!
I took Professor Millstone's poli sci class in the fall semester and it was one of the best classes I have ever taken. The class will be mostly lecturing but you're so engrossed in what he is telling you that you don't even care. There are weekly discussion boards over different topics and 4 tests overall. One of the best classes you'll take.
Want to learn how to use your brain & practice critical thought? Want to have preconceived notions challenged? Millstone is the man. Spoon-feeders need not apply, though he will work with you. His Poli-Sci course utilizes pop culture as an illustrative device to help us understand how and why we establish beliefs--political, etc. Highly recommend!
Millstone is one of those life changing professors who is passionate, caring, and exciting. His lectures keep you on the edge of your seat, and honestly, almost brought me to tears at times. He will not stand for B.S. like students on their phones or zoning out, but once he's got your attention, you'll look forward to his class. Perfect professor.
Gives 20 points of optional extra credit just for writing discussion posts. You can easily pass every test just by memorizing the answers to the chapter reviews in the textbook. Answers are in the back of the test and at least 2/3 of the test comes directly from these questions.
How does common applications publicly organize economics. The muppet type of learning curve this class launches students towards in organized timeline can literate ideas in progress understanding of advancement in individual freedoms of expressions through retraction aliquot usefulness amongst the ones who have problems defining other subjects.
When I first read these reviews, I was a bit skeptical taking this class. But Professor Millstone isn't as bad as the reviews make him out to be. He's fair, he lays out exactly what his expectations are, and he follows them. His government course requires lots of reading and participation, but it's taught me a lot. I'm glad I took this class.
only bad thing about him is that he talks down to his students and talks himself up, like being a prof is a power trip for him. Very annoying. That aside, hes a good teacher. cares about student success, makes you think, consistent in grading. Very unorganized lectures, can rant about unrelated stuff for 45 mins and then finally get to the topic.
I hate anything that has to due with gov't/history. I LOVED his class. Amazing lectures and genuinely cares. Has test reviews the class before the test (very helpful). 4 test, but drops the lowest grade grade/1 essay. Grades fairly, and gives opportunities for points. BEST teacher that I've had. He made me realize just how powerful knowledge is.
Very organized professor who will challenge you while being very fair. He gives extra credit for discussion boards and tests mainly come from the study guides at the end of the chapters. If you read a bit and do the study guides youll make a good grade. Participate! I took his 8 week online class! I would totally recommend him!
Professor Millstone is one of the most amazing professors i have taken at ACC. Yes he is intimidating sometimes, yes he will challenge you, but he cares about you and will help you. This guy has done it all, from Assistant Attorney General, to decorated professor and Litigator of 20+ years. He is the real deal, and I'm grateful to learn from him.
Professor Millestone was by far the best professor I have had, he is so knowledgeable and definitely lectures to where you can understand. He gives you exams based on his lectures and does a review to let you know what he will be looking for. I enjoyed his class I high recommend him! He also gives opportunity to get activity points which is like EC
Professor Millstone is one of the real ones. He is honest about his grading criteria, he's fair, a great lecturer, and he genuinely cares about his students. His class is a little more difficult than others at ACC (But is still pretty easy), but if you keep up with the reading and take notes during lectures, you'll do fine. Phenomenal Professor.
Prof Millstone is probably my favorite prof yet. He is amazing and actually cares about his students. When the class first started, I was incredibly intimidated, however, this class quickly turned into my favorite. He is totally understanding if you have anxiety and aren't comfortable being called on. You're making a mistake if you don't take him.
I didn't interact with Prof. Millstone much because my class was online, but he always communicated to us with a positive attitude and gave assignments that I genuinely enjoyed.
Prof. Millstone is by far an AMAZING professor. I took his GOVT 2306 class for Summer 2020-Session 1 and I'm honestly so grateful that I had him as my teacher. His syllabus is perfectly outlined and he follows it to the T!!! Classwork consisted of 2 Mandatory DB, 1 written assignment, 4 Exams & an optional Final. Take his class! It's an Easy A!
Very good teacher. He really cares about your grade and is generally a great person to be around. He doesn't have any lectures online so that means that you will have to read the textbook for the most part which is weird but fine.
Millstone is incredibly organized and diligent with what he does. This was my first ACC class I've taken beyond HighSchool and he made it very easy to understand the instructions! He responds to questions thoughtfully and always ended his emails wishing us to be safe and well <3 He's very kind and an overall great Professor! I liked him a lot :-)
I took Mr. Millstones class over 10 years ago. Im writing this because all these years later the lessons I learned still stick with me. He wasnt an easy A, but it wasnt so hard I didnt learn anything. I loved his lectures, they were engaging. I didnt realize it then, but... thank you Mr. Millstone you inspired me.
I took 2305 and 2306 with Prof. Millstone. He gives clear instructions and feedback. Would definitely take him again.
The exams, discussion board and research paper were all pretty easy if you did some of the reading. This was the least time consuming class I've had. I definitely recommend Millstone.
This class was very easy. He gives lots of room for extra credit and is a very generous grader. You have to do a few tests and discussion boards. The discussion boards are all opinion based and don't require much critical thinking. For the essay, the word count minimum is super low. He is such an easy grader I would recommend him to everyone!
Overall not a bad choice! An easy routine of reading the textbook, completing the discussion boards (250-word post, 250-word reply to classmate), then taking the exams. There are 4 exams and the final, which is optional. You're allowed to use your notes and textbook on the exams, which made it a lot easier. The textbook costs $40. Would recommend!
Awesome class taken during COVID asynchronously. Instructor was super clear on assignments, due dates, etc. I enjoyed the textbook and reading and like Govt in general but he was a great teacher and I highly recommend him. Fair grader and fair overall.
