He is a hard proffessor, but really helps when you ask for It. Cares about his students. I learned a lot in his class.
Very good, has clear set goals and does not make you do busy work.
If you ask for help, he gives it. Funny guy, he makes the material easy. I don't recomend during summer bc there just is not enough time for the readings. But he tries to make it easy for his students. Try and you will succeed!
incredibly tough.
Not a hard teacher, but the writing can get tough...lots of it. Funny guy, makes the class fun, definately willing to help you if you need it!
This teacher is not that hard, but there is a lot of reading and writing involved. He is funny and makes the class interesting. He is very helpful if you need it...don't be afraid to ask him anything!
be prepared to write
NO GOOD! Took DL class. DOESN'T give clear instructions! Asked for help and he averaged (3 seperate times) a week to get in touch w/ me, so I did assignment as described only to find out he wasn't clear in directions and assignment was no GOOD! BEWARE! You will B on your own in his class!! Also tells you that you go to hell if you plagiarize.
He was a great teacher. I had him for CompI and CompII. Made the class fun. Lots of writing but HELLO its an english class.
get that pencil (or fingers) ready bc you write alot but it is an english class...pretty funny and the tasks really arent that hard. had fun
I loved his class. I took it on DL over the summer. There is a lot to do but, if you arn't ready to write that much then you shouldn't take a comp II class. He takes latework without penality and is extreamly helpful. He seems like a genually nice guy. The only problems I had were cause by my own procrastination.
TOOK DL COURSE HE GIVES LOTS OF WORK, HARD, BUT AS LONG AS YOU READ ALL THE ASSIGNMENTS THEN YOU'LL GET A GOOD GRADE. ACCEPTS LATE WORK, HE'S ALWAYS MAKING SURE YOU CLEARLY UNDERSTAND THE ASSIGNMENTS, AND OFFERS TO ASSIST OR ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE. NOT TOO STRICT WHEN GRADING ESSAYS. READ, READ, AND READ, AND YOU'LL DO GOOD.
Took his online 1302, he was fair, you just have to read alot. But other than that if you do whats posted you can get an easy A or B.
Lots of reading and writing, but it well worth taking him got a b with just an effort you'll pass this class.
THIS MAN IS A COWARD!!!, i tried to contact him, its like he never existed he is ok, but hates it when u ask him for help or try to confront him
Taking his online class for summer 1 he gives a lot of assignments and quizzes easy ones. Just read his power point & 'd book you'll be fine. Got an A in his class. He accept late work no deduction for that. Clear in his instruction. Research paper 30% of your grade. Well English comp. is all about writing!
Love Mr. Miranda! Letures are run he uses current stuff for assignments. Funny! Totally nice and OMG so approachable! Love him! You have to take his class. He comes to our HS and is SO COOL! Love you Mr. Miranda!
He's really great. His sense of humor is easy to relate to, and he isn't too serious. If you pay attention and actually put some effort into the work, the class isn't too hard, and is actually quite fun. The essays are over interesting topics, and pretty broad in what we can cover. He's very approachable and nice, especially if you do good work.
Its a hard class, so prepare yourself to do alot of work, alot of essays, stories and quizzes. If you do the work and do your best he's more than willing ell you out whenever necessary.
Awesome Teacher, I took the mini-mester class, although very difficult, he made everything easy enough, I ended up with an A, lots of work, lots, tons! but if you have the time, he is wonderful!
AWESOME TEACHER!
Funny teacher, very helpful. He always had a kid in his office helping them. He is really nice and understanding, you use the book to some extent but can get by with the internet.
He wants you to learn, and his passion for the subject is obvious. You won't get by in this class if you don't read and pay attention, so do yourself a favor and don't blow it off. He has a lot of information and loves to share it - he is a great teacher.
He was extreemly boring and talks a lot. I dread this class everyday. He is awful at explainging things.
He is a good teacher who Is willing to help you, but you have to put in the effort. This isn't a breezy class. But if you stay on top of the work, it's very passable, and he takes late work. Overall, I enjoyed his class. I'd recommend him--just do the work!
Took online..gives all assignments upfront but it is a lot of work and instructions aren't very clear. If you fall behind you won't catch up. I would not suggest taking online unless you are dedicated to this class alone. Too much work to take being a full time student.
Took this in Maymester and he was not as timely returning graded work as would have been useful. He was funny and nice and knew what he was talking about. I made an 89 and rec'd a B, which was sad since I usually make all As. Don't take it in mini-mester unless you have written lots and lots of papers and know all the rules/tricks.
Took first and second English with him. He is a great teacher and very knowledgable. Take his class.
I took this online SS1 - I hate english and writing so I was dreading this class. However, I ended up w/ an A. it is alot of writing! alot of db's and assignments, however, it is mostly completion grades those were easy. VERY SLOW at grading. so you cannot use his critique on next assignmnt. if you have to take this class. take him.
had to take this course, chose him, 3 essays, lots of quizes, and daily assignments. drops one quiz and accepts late work w/ no penalty. only need book for quizes. all questions are out of chapters and vocab words in back. very slow at grading. i hate writing but i pushed thru and ended up with an A. glad its over!
Initially I thought I wasn't going to like this class. BUT he is such a passionate great teacher his ancient World Lit class ended up being my favorite. He's a teacher I'll always remember as one of the greats.
Awesome Class lots of work so easier to get a higher grade always allows for plenty of time to complete assignment. He just has horrible hand writing so write stuff down as he is so you can know what it’s supposed to say.
Had him for World Lit to 1650. A little long-winded in his lectures, but great guy, very friendly and he knows what he is talking about. Quizzes were all online, w/ a few class assignments, discussions boards, and journals. Everything was straight from the readings, but you can get away with not reading all the stories.
Took this class online and was A LOT A LOT of work but very clear with no surprises. One reading per week plus a quiz and DB OR Assignment due Sunday Nights. He does a portfolio project and gives all semester to be completed which involves 4 essays, totaling about 15 to 20 page essay by the end of the semester. Lots of work but not terribly bad.
Mr. Miranda is a great teacher! Very knowledgable and fair. Slow to grade, but not an issue! This isn't the only class he teaches so its understandable. I really enjoyed his class. Take his class if you are new to college! the book is used for quizzes.
Miranda does great at setting expectations and is always there to help. However, his class is A LOT of work. I've taken a hybrid course before and I've never had so much to do for the online portion: be prepared to read a lot, do quizzes as well as additional assignments every week online.
Good at informing how to write papers, has long winded stories. Pay attention, sums up with the point. Will help with grammar, not a grammar Nazi. There were papers to work on wkly. Book used. Had chapters a wk to read for quiz's. 9 quiz in all. Doesn't give 100s. Do papers & quiz's, pass. Don't, final wont save. Plenty of ofc hrs. EC helps 1 low.
Took Prof. Miranda online. He assigns a TON of reading, so prepare to put aside 2 hrs to read every week, & 1-2 hours for the weekly assignments. There is a major essay project due at the end of the sem & counts as 30% of your grade, which he spreads out. He accepts late work, quick at grading, & gives great feedback. Work is a breeze if you read.
He was an okay professor. The assignments were fairly easy. Textbook is a must have for quizzes and such. He waits until the very last minute (finals week) to put in grades from the beginning of the semester.
Professor Miranda is a great peofessor and I highly reccomend him for comp 2. He is a slightly tough grader on the papers, but he has conferences for them before they are due and the first 2 papers had a specific subject to talk about in each paragraph outlined for you, making it easy. He likes details in papers. He talks a lot and does group work
Very slow to answer emails & post grades. Assignments online are confusing & unclear. Disorganized & unwilling to chg.
Easy grader, definitely need to use his office hours. Accepts late work up to 2 weeks with a regular grade. Online open book quizzes. Super easy
I don't recommend to take class with him.
He is funny and helpful. His quizzes are online and open book, most of the material is from lecture. 3 papers and a test. The test is made up of question from the quizzes and you can see the quiz answers the week before the final. The first two papers have most of the paragraphs outlined for you so you just have to cone up with a topic. Slow grader
Every week there were readings, a quiz and a discussion. Also, there are 4 papers (1-2 pages with citations). At the end of the semester, the 4 papers are compiled into a Portfolio Project worth 30% of grade. I was discouraged a lot but it was my own fault for not reading, Read and you will be fine! I made a B :)
Awesome teacher! There were writing assignments, but it's English. He helps every step of the way and is clear with expectations.
Accepts late work 2 weeks in. Talks a lot. Gives excellent feedback.
I really hate English and have a great fear of writing essays! With that been said I made a 87 in his class. You have to put in the work to get a good grade. There is tons of reading. Do the work you will pass. Took this class online.
Talks too much. As soon as class starts he begins talking and doesn't stop until the end of class. Wanders off topic to many times. Starts essays back to back.
Talks way too much, makes unnecessary passive-aggressive comments. Does not stay on topic ever, gives essays frequently with no break. Eventually swarms himself with lots of work to grade. Would not recommend for those trying to have a good Eng1301 experience.
Jeffery Miranda is a great teacher! The benefits of taking his class are that he teaches the material well, and gives great feedback on paper assignments. However, this class is definitely not an easy A... you will have to work hard. There is a lot of reading so textbook is needed, but all the read material prepares you for quizzes and assignments.
I took Mr. Miranda in the first part of summer and it was my first college class. He was great at making content clear and made the criteria for essays very understandable. I thought he was absolutely amazing, only downside I would say is he takes a little while to grade but I don't blame him too much since it's summertime.
He talks all class long. Theres almost no time to do anything during class. Youll have to do, if not all, most of your work on your own time. He tries to make jokes, hes really nice & takes late work.
Great teacher. Took the 8 week course. Plenty of time in class to work on your essays. Clear on what he expects and will answer any questions. Quizzes over book, open book and online, very easy! Overall 4 essays and 1 revision project and the final was just over all the quizzes you take in class. Allows late work! Would highly recommend his class!
One of the best English teachers Ive ever had! Took the class online, and he remained in contact when I had questions and very clear on his expectations of the course. There are many assignments but he doesnt set firm deadlines, gives a week extension on everything. Gives a lot of feedback on papers and how to edit them. Highly recommend him!
Honestly the best online professor!! You should take his class! Lots of interesting material and responds fast ! He does give extra credit
Has 10 quizzes, need book for quizzes. 5 papers. Final exam is cumulative quizzes. Took him first semester but I didn't turn in a paper so low grade and I took again. Very easy if you show up, dont even have to really pay attention. Papers super easy especially if you took 1302 and then retook 1301. Gives great feedback.
Took the class online for summer 2, he gives plenty of time to work on your assignments & gives good feedback. There was a lot of reading & you have to work hard but he does give out extra credit. 9 quizzes, 3 response papers, & 2 tests. Gave 3 hours to finish tests which were a little hard but just make sure you read your material & you will pass
I took the 8-week course, one paper right after the other, but nothing too hard. He gives extra credit and he's easy going. Textbook required. Doesn't take tests too seriously.
A lot to read, if you don't you won't pass the class. Also takes a lot of time to grade. Would not reccomend to anyone
Please try to find a different Word Lit professor. I am currently taking online, and this class has more homework than the rest of my other classes combined. If you do take his class, take it alone. He expects you to read A LOT every week, and there are assignments/quizzes/papers also due weekly in addition to all the readings.
So much homework, I am not able to focus on other classes. He rarely responds to emails, and takes forever to grade papers (the class is on the third paper of four and he has not graded any therefore we do not know if we are doing it correctly). Along with being indecisive, he has made literature terrible for me . Do not take this Professor.
He is an amazing professor. Best math teacher You could have. If you study and take some time to review. you should pass. He is available during office hours for help.
Im taking him now ( summer two) lots of readings, lots of work to do. Not a good grader. This is my last class in TCC. Never had a B grade straight As, but right now Im on my knees begging God for a B. Almost six things due every week. On our final week that is just three days, we will have four things due . Gosh
He's not the worst English teacher I've had, but he certainly is the most frustrating. I'm in a summer class; he tells you we don't have time to read but still tries to have you read 150 pages. The quizzes are the most annoying. You'd probably do better not reading the material than doing so, not that it will help. He writes the questions weirdly.
Great professor! I took him this Summer and it is a lot of work but it is possible to get a good grade. The assignments and discussions are not hard at all. You have to read to find some of the answers but it is not that bad for a Literature class. Three papers you have to write but they aren't that bad. Test's are not that difficult either!
Took this summer. He is not a great teacher, tough grader. Never replied my email. Dont take this class in summer . I wish I can say more. I think he might be better for a 16 weeks. Good luck
I enjoyed the class; I feel that he grades well, if not a little loosely. The catch to this is, that he gets swept up and gets behind on grading, especially since he is a softball coach on the side. In my opinion, it's only an issue if you're not confident in writing. Aside from essays/peer review, the only other graded work is vocabulary related.
I am really enjoy his class. I know that he has really busy thing to do so he put off on grade on assignments so that's why he is coach. He is great professor.
Great professor. Gives lots of work, meaning that grades are weighed fairly. Lots of easy As. 7 day grace period for each assignment. Replies to emails and sympathizes with you. Probably would have enjoyed taking a class of his in person as I can tell he is a cool guy hes more thought provoking and enjoyable than my in person classes even, a plus.
Never taking this guy again. I took his class online. If you choose to take his english, be prepared to be completely on your own, and by that I mean he NEVER answers emails. We got to one point in the course where there was literally no content until like halfway through the week... Also, I had grades from 2+ months ago that were still not graded.
Overall solid pick for ENG1301, you have to read and write a few papers but he is very understanding due to covid, would take again!
He is a very good teacher. He gives many chances for extra credit and even more chances to finish any late assignments without taking points off. The course is very heavy on reading, but the stories are interesting! However, he is a little disorganized and slow in answering emails and turning in grades. Other than that, it's an easy A!
Professor Miranda was very helpful, understanding, and responded quickly. Class is easy as long as you participate in discussion boards and stay on top of your work.
Mr.Miranda was awesome! He tends to get frustrated with tardiness. Always be on the lookout for his extra credit announcements and assignments and he sends out announcements after ever class, very helpful! He also tends to take a while to grade and remind him if some things are not correct in the grade book. He also takes most late work!
Mr. Miranda was nice, didn't care too much about attendance, accepted late work, and graded fairly.
Most assignments have a grace period but the trade off is may not get feedback and grade til weeks after. Extra credit opportunities for the final and midterm. Lots of reading (its an English class) but manageable as long as you don't procrastinate. Outside of assignments and papers, typically about 3-5 hrs of required weekly reading.
I have never been so frustrated by a class or professor. He never responded to my emails until after the assignment in question was already do, the course is currently over and he STILL hasn't finished grading, he barely provides any feedback to help improve your work, and he is condescending to his students. I'm just happy that the class is over.
The readings were outrageous in terms of length. His grading style is very harsh and his feedback never made sense and was very backhanded. He takes weeks to grade assignments and grades in a very weird order in a way that does not help students be successful in future assignments. Lastly, his rubrics are very shallow and not specific at ALL.
Was a very difficult grader- taking weeks to grade an assignment and also taking points off for ideas that were not mentioned in the rubric (additionally, the rubric was very vague). Assignments were laborious and the professor provide little or unnecessary feedback. Ultimately, this class was more harmful than beneficial.
He is an extremely tough grader. Many assignments had 90 as the highest grade and he is vert nitpicky when it comes to his rubric. Additionally, he graded everything extremely late (2 weeks after) and doesn't have clear criteria for his assignments. Also, he gives out about 3 assignments everyday.
He called me a baffoon
He is a tough, slow grader and will nitpick little things in your essay. He doesn't provide much feedback during conferences, and even with feedback or corrections made, he'll pick at something else he never mentioned. The quizzes are easy, and the final is all the quizzes together. Not bad of a professor
Easy assignments and lectures. A bit of a tough grader though when coming to assignments and papers. Take a while to respond to emails and grade. Funny professor and will help if needed.
I took Miranda for an online American Lit class and it was horrible. Not only was it work heavy, but he took forever to grade assignments, and does not give good feedback on essays. He is also super nit picky with his rubric.
