Really great teacher. His lectures will actually teach you something. However his tests can be very hard. he is flexible and will help your grade if you talk to him. He gives a lot of bonuses
Jeff's the man! Very clear and helpful lectures, readily accessible outside of class, and will help you out with your grade. Kind of rough around the edges, but a great prof.
Jeff is a really great prof. He's down-to-earth, energetic and jokes a lot. Although homework is usually mandatory, you'll thank him in the end because you'll do good on tests and leave knowing your calculus!
He's a great teach! I took him for both Cal I & II and enjoyed every bit of it! His tests were pretty basic if you completed your homework and quizzes which were mandatory. I recommend him, only if you're willing to put forth a some effort.
Very interesting lecturer, explains the material well. Tests can be hard but are usually curved. Despite his friendly demeanor, is a little uptight at times. Assigned seating for a class of several dozen? Still, a good teacher.
Took online... opened all quizez numerous times in order to get better grades. Some extra credit though tests are hard
All around great professor. Fun, energetic and enthusiastic about calculus! When I took him in '02, we all signed up for someone else but we got him instead. This ended up being a good thing. Assigned seating, roll taking and homework keep you on task.
Dr. Morgan was pretty good... the only forewarning I think everyone should know is that he can get pretty cocky, pretty fast. I thought he was pretty snotty, but if you can get past some of his arrogance, he's a good teacher. He knows his stuff, and really can explain things rather clearly.
pretty cocky, but he knows his stuff.
This guy goes too fast in his lectures....he assigns homework that he has not even covered.

You can't afford to miss a single class, or you'll get a 0 on pointless quizes that he gives daily. He assigns homework problems that take hours to do, that aren't always even covered in class, and aren't even graded for more than a completion grade.
reallt great prof, w/out him i would have been lost. exams are departmental so watch out for 2nd midterm (may have a find vertical asymt ques. factor top and bottom before answering ;o) ) and always make sure to do webct a million times before the exam, it will make u faster, and ull need that time. questions are identical to webct quiz.
AWSOME PROFFESOR! FUNNY. EASY. The best math teacher ever. Highly recommend.
this prof rocks!!!he knows his stuff. funny guy.
Knows how to teach and has a sense of humor.
Best Calculus teacher in the University of Houston...!!!!!!
Great teacher I am most def. taking cal 2 with him1 keep ****ing Pro-Mo
Not an easy class, but Dr. Morgan makes you want to learn so he makes it kind of easier to understand. Very helpful, he even has this live online help session. I would definitly take him for Cal 2.
Very good professor. He does assign homework that is not covered in class, however it is easy to understand once you read the book. Quizzes given in lecture daily does seem kinda pointless, but they help on your speed which is crucial when taking the exams! Overall good professor.
He is the most dedicated teacher i have eever seen. If u do the homeworks that he gives and practice a lot, u will definitely make an A in that class. Dr. Morgan really makes the class inresting and even takes his time to give online reviews. I really enjoyed attending his class and i am definitely taking him for next semester.
HIGH RECOMMENDED! Dr.Morgan is one of the best professor i have taken. He is really helpful and his class is interesting. He dedicate a lot of his own time in helping you with after school reviews and sunday review session. He really does want you to pass Calculus and he does his best to teach the material. THE BEST TEACHER NEXT TO DR.BOTT!
there are no words or scale to read his abitlties cos he's simply the best and the most dedicated professor a university can ever get during these ages
good class, teaches great, take his class. one of the better teachers compared to tucker....
Awesome. Tests are easy.
The best math teacher at the university. You have to work - but you will learn the material. He is always fun in class.
A tough but fair and easy to understand prof. He makes you understand better then the other profs who teach the same subject, and has a whole lot of different math aids to help you understand. I reccommend highly.
awesome teacher...explains material in an easy way to understand....
i took him for calc 1 and calc 2. i love math and he made me love math more...i wish he taught calc 3
I had for calculus. DR.MORGAN is awesome. He is the best Math teacher out there. He really want you to understand calculus that he devote a lot of his time helping his students. HE IS SO HELPFUL!!! he even help you on the weekends while he is at home. NOT MANY TEACHERS DOES THAT! I ADVISE YOU to take him because he is the best teacher for cal.
Good teacher. Gives wayyy too much homework problems though. He gives daily poppers in class which help you if you actually do it. And those are like your attendance too. Umm...he's an overall good teacher. He prepares you for the exams and does review problems before you take the test.
great lecturer! takes attendance by quizzes, this class will take alot of your time bc of the online quizzes and homework. try to take lab after the lecture bc i've noticed that he go overs some of the problems in class that ends up on the lab quiz.
Awesome teacher. Do his homework and his online quizzes and you'll ace his tests. If not a fan of attendance, you can always ask a friend in the class to fill out the daily poppers. He also basically tells you what is going to be on the tests in this reviews
I absolutely hate math and Calculus was no different, but Morgan is hands down the best professor to take for this class. His lectures are extremely clear and slow so that even an idiot like me could understand them. He is very responsive to emails and is occasionally in the math lab so you can see how much of a god of Calculus he is.
Dr Morgan is by far the best math prof. He is clear and very well organized. His lectures are broken down so that anyone can understand the material. He has an awesome personality that makes u look forward to going to lecture and learning. i would deffenatley reccomend him to every student.
Morgan is the only way to go. Every other professor for calculus is horrible. You can learn everything from his lecture and only have to do minimal study outside of class if you actually listen in class. Says a few corny jokes which makes the class interesting. Might be hard to talk to in his office, but overall he is great.
Dr. Morgan is awesome! he goes beyond what's required of him to make sure that everyone understands the subject. although he posts the notes online right after class, make sure that you actually go to class--believe me it's worth it! for the tests, you'll need to review the notes, the CASA quizzes, poppers, and the easier problems from the HW.
He is a great teacher for cal 1. I am currently taking him for cal 2 and its not as bad as they say it is, especially with Morgan as the teacher. Would recommend him in a heart beat, there is no other math teacher like him, he is fast paced but understandable. If you want to learn do not take anyone else but him or you will have a hard time.
he's serious, crazy, funny, smart, and in control of his class (which means--don't leave class in the middle of lecture b/c he will chase you!) so overall, it was one of my best classes in college, even though i had to work super hard for it, because..it's calculus!
awesome teacher....HE DEVOTES HIS WHOLE TIME FOR US.....even 12 am at night..he does reivew sections every week for homework...tat starts at 10 pm to 12 am....he is devoted and he is the BEST professor ever...I HAD HIM FOR CAL 1 and CAL 2
No need to say. He is the best math professor ever!He holds online review sessions and hw help sessions every week. Cal II was still hard, but it would've been worse if I didn't take his lectures. Too bad that he doesn't teach Calc III...
Cal 2 is going to ge hard no matter who you take it with, but Morgan makes it a little easier. he has review sessions for tests and has online homework sessions. He assigns a lot of homework though and there are a ton of quizzes and he doesn't curve
much harder than cal 1. Out of all the cal 2 profs he is the best. A little full of himself but he knows what he's talking about
Took online class. Less workload than traditional class but basically self-study (no lectures! Get tutor or MathLab). Gives 2 hw help sessions weekly. TA acts in place of prof. Great TA! Not difficult to make a B or better if you study. Only 1 test and a pass/fail course final so do your work and you'll be fine!!
Morgan is by far the most knowledge and best math teacher UoH has to offer. His methods of teaching and unrivaled. He is also a genius, you'll see that though.
He's an awesome professor! The best of all the cal teachers at UH. He has online review sessions that are very useful. Not to forget he's hot and funny and will keep you awake in class
Calculus is a tought class in itself and he teaches better than anyone else at UH. Even the TA's admit to the fact that Dr. Morgan is the best there is for Calc. I and II.
Dr. Morgan talked just a little too fast but otherwise, he is a great teacher and definitely knows his Calculus! I will definitely take him again for Calculus II
He is a good teacher and is funny. He teaches clear and lets you learn everything for the test. Homework is kind of hard but he gives "sunday night sessions" which is tutoring outside of class. You have quizzes every friday and a lot of homework every week. I'm fine with the homework and quizzes. It helps me study.
VERY VERY HARD. He is a great teacher but calc is very hard at UH. MY best advice to anyone who will never see math again in their life is to take it at HCC. It transfers over and its pointless to kill your gpa at UH over calc.
Don't need a book, all math materials at UH is online. Holds review on Sunday night that are very helpful. (Tests are difficult without alot of studying. Homework is tedious and there is alot of it.) In paraethesis is the same for all MATH 1431 so it doesnt matter who you take. Morgan is the best choice for Calc at UH by far.
cal 2 is a hard class in general. but dr.morgan is THE BEST CAL TEACHER UH HAS TO OFFER. take him for cal 1 and 2. even though he's usually MWF lecture, its worth taking his class because he just flat out an amazing teacher. i plan on becoming a teacher after i graduate and using his exact teaching methods. must take him!
If you want to pass your Calculus classes then take Morgan. You are practically guaranteed a passing grade. You do have to go to class and do the homework but you learn it. I'm telling you this man is one of the best teachers I've ever had...EVER.
He is a very good teacher. He interacts with the students a lot. He is very funny. He assigns a lot of hw but its good practice. There's a hw session out of class if you need help. He served pizza once in his test review. Your final can be replaced by your lowest test grade and make above a 95, you get an A in the class. His lectures are great.
He is the best professor I have ever had, period. Yes, Calc II is extremely difficult, but he makes sure the class understands it. Interacts with the class and makes the lecture interesting. I wish he instructed every class I have to take.
Best math teacher I ever had in my life!!! I took him for Cal 1 & 2 and I'm going to take him for engineering math.
Morgan ROCKS! He is one of the BEST teachers in the world. I didn't make a great grade, but it's not his fault in the least. There is no reason not to make a good grade in Morgan's class unless you do like me and do nothing in it. If you are a math major, morgan is the way to go.
This and 1431 require a bit of your time. if you're not willing to spend much time on these classes then dont expect a good grade. go to class and pay attention. he knows his stuff and he breaks it down for everyone to understand. he goes out of his way and gives weekly review sessions at night that are a load of help. Great Prof!!!
Exellent prof. A real role model. Easy tests, clear lecture, study old tests which r easily available & really helpful. Makes every effort so his students can do good, even give after class tutoring. For lab take the TA named Moses(I think). Will make calc fun. If scored 95 or high in final, u get A for whole semester.
Loved this professor. Prepares you well for tests. 3 tests and a comprehensive final. For 1431 & 1432 he gives you an A in the class if you got a 95 or higher on the final. Lots of hw but solutions manual helped. Attendance poppers. Enjoyed the class!
He is great teacher!Really easy to understand. There are really tremendous homework but it really helps you if you do your homework constantly. And he is HOT!!!
He is a very good teacher because he makes sure everyone understands everything before moving on, and even takes questions during lectures. There is a lot of homework but there are comprehensive online videos to help. This guy is hilarious too-he's a lot like Dr. Cox from Scrubs.
Funny as Hell!!!! especially in his reveiew sessions thusday nights. Extremely helpful but not so easy. If u r willing to work, u will get an A. Guaranteed!!!
Awesome Prof! He is funny, smart, and helpful. Attendance taken by Popper (scantron type quiz), Tests are extremely easy probs, HW is a little much but useful!
Great professor. Lots of HW every week. Study for the tests, don't get lazy.
THE BEST PROFESSOR EVER. Unlike the other classes, you actually LEARN something. he makes the course very interesting and make you want to do good. online quizzes and homework are given every week and the poppers are given every class (for the attendance and review) If you care about your course and do your work, you'll pass with an A
Must tke him if possible because you will pass if you show up. He will teach everything you need to know in class and then give just enough HW so that when you take the exams you know almost all the info right off some problems on exams2 and final for both calculus 1&2 were challangeing
very good teacher. i had a different professor for calculus and i studied morgans class notes instead and listened to his on line lectures. much better than my real teacher
He teaches hard.. but hes a cool guy.. goes a little too much into detail and gives homeworkk like crazyy! lotsss of workkkk for this class for sure!!!
Good professor, the material is difficult but he makes it interesting. Go to class, pay attention, do the HW & Quizzes and you should be able to do well in his class. Also, STUDY FOR TEST 2, it's a beast. It's the most challenging/time consuming out of the 3 midterms.
If you want to do well in his class, you have to be prepared to work. Granted, I took the Honors section by accident, but still. Class is doable; however, you MUST put in your time. On multiple occasions I spent a cumulative 10 hours on a HW assignment. Not for the faint of heart. Great class and you will deffintly learn ALOT.
calculus is hard no matter who you take, but morgan does a very good job at explaining it and he goes the extra mile to help students understand the stuff. his lectures are fun and engaging and easy to follow. attending lectures is highly recommended though. the TA's are somewhat helpful depending on who you have. Moses was the best though
1. Excellent prof/lecturer despite honor course.2. Posts his notes online. 3. Keeps attendance with your self printed poppers. 4.H.W is half free online-book half made-up prbs. 5. 8homeworks,1 mid-term and final.MT is half in-class and half take home and final is 3hr in class. Word of advice get a recorder cuz it's easy to get lost in lecutures.
He is good, and pretty funny. I really liked Cal II, much more than Cal I. Some times he comes in all pissed off, but I think some students take advantage of his good nature. He really does want to help you, a good guy. Just steer clear when he is upset. Only down side IS THAT HE IS A COLTS FAN! I hate the Colts... and Peyton Manning... GOOD PROF!
Great Professor. Very organized lectures and notes that he uploads to his website. Has many examples on website to help with class. Clearly has a passion for his subject which makes class more fun. Has a cute playful nature, but you must respect his class (pay attention, don't talk) or he'll be po'd. Known to call people out(which they deserved).
I could not have learned calculus without his help! He is the MOST dedicated teacher I have ever had! Absolutely wonderful! I dropped calculus the first time I took it with Dr. Etgen and I retook it with Morgan and received an A! Great slides, great lectures, dedicated TA's! Take him!!
Dr Morgan is an amazing teacher. His lectures are simplified to layman's terms so you can actually learn what you do, and hes actually a funny guy. He gives lots of homework, so you should take this class with a light courseload. He takes a fairly hard class and turns it into an easy class. Teaches Cal 1 in fall and Cal 2 in the spring.
He is a really good professor, knows his stuff well. But if you need more help always use CASA, there are some really good tutors there or make sure you get a good TA. it will be really helpful.Lots of homework in this class, and online quizzes and EMCF(all of it helps a lot). Know the materials from review notes very well. Not a bad class overall
HE didnt pay much attention to his online session, and he suppose that u know all the basics, and teaching in his own way. i never had so many problems with him until i take him, its a waste of time, OMG who get me out of here please!!! i should totally pay myself tuition cause im ****ing teaching myself!!! i will never take him again.
He's a wonderful prof that never fails to explain the concepts clearly. The homework and online quizzes are harder than the tests so if you can do those, you're set. He gives a good bit of homework though so be prepared. In class he's a riot by the way.
He's Great had him for Cal 1 and 2!
He doesn't seem to give much care for the online class. He teaches a lot of concepts, made us think hard connecting the dots on how to do homework and quizzes. But if you asked him for help, he would do more than any other professors. He is very advanced in technology. You will learn a lot from him and his lectures.
i had morgan for cal 1 he is cool and funny. he teaches well but he expects alot out of u. u better study everyday if u are in his class. or u will fail.
Amazing prof. Know the material very well, even though his bloopers r funny. Teaches everything that's goin to be on exam, will tell u what's not. Take 2 hour special review session before every exam (3 hour b4 final) extremely helpful, will make 90+ if u attend n know material. Online quizzes n homework are tedious, but helpful, and actually make u a good calculus student. Highly recommend if u r ready to work hard a little.
He is probably one of my favorite teachers. He is very clear and he knows what students need to pass. He gives a whole lot of work so get ready, its not an easy class if you don't put much effort. I dont think anyone's supposed to know this but if you get an A on the final you pass the course with an A. Even if you got Zeros on the previous tests
I had him for Cal 1, and he doesn't live up to all his hype. He's a nice person and wants his students to succeed but his teaching methods are not the best. If you're not a fan of math, be prepared to get bored. He tends to spend like 20mins on a single prob and sometimes just rambles on about random stuff. I would recommend Balthazar over him.
I took him for cal 1 and cal 2. He's cool. I got an A. It wasn't bad, BUT he does give too much HW. That will be your people!!!!
Dr. Morgan is the best professor I've had in the 2 years I've been in college. He made a boring, difficult subject understandable, spoke in layman's english, and actually cared about his students. He was very helpful about letting you know what was going to be on the test, and went out of his way to give reviews before hand.
he's ok
Funny guy; He'll definitely keep you awake. 15+ homework problems due every Monday, quiz every Friday on top of online quizzes (20 attempts plus he reopens them). His tests are exactly what you learn in class or through online quizzes. Not easy, not hard, just takes a lot of time. Taking for Cal 1 and 2.
Tips to get an A--- 1)Attend every class 2)Keep up with online quizzes 3)Know how to do EVERY problem on posted exam reviews 4)Take CASA exams earliest (earlier you take, easier your test will be) 5) Dont kill your EMCF grade, do all the problems. **CASA exams, if you take them later, they will be harder. Good luck to all seek help if you're lost..
Very clear in his teaching. A LOT of work in his class, homeworks, quizzes, poppers, tests, lab quizzes. But all in all if you attend class you should be fine. Don't go see him in person for help, go to CASA. Super nice in class, has a bit of attitude if you go see him during office hours.
He's is an awesome teacher. Guaranteed if you want an A you have to work hard. Textbook is online, but the problems on there are very hard and they are very good help for studying for tests. Get ready b/c there are lots of grades taken. Homework, EMCF's quizzes online and written, tests, practices, etc. Overall pretty challenging.
Morgan is a great Professor! His lectures are interesting and his copious assignments he gives help you to understand the material. I had a C+ going into the final exam but did horrible on it due to questions i have never seen before appearing on the test.
Overall a good class. However, lots of work. It's hard to calculate your grade throughout the course because you dont know what you get on hws. It's hard to tell if they count at all. Attendance isnt mandatory but you should go for popper grades. I recommend attending lab because if you get a good TA the class becomes really easy.
Fantastic! He made Calculus entertaining. I did not want to miss a class. The work is intense; I feel like I do have a good grasp of Calculus I.
I took him for winter mini session. He teaches too fast and goes over too many concepts instead of teaching the main examples. Also he goes on a tangent when he is talking. I only got an A in that class because of the wonderful TA
Seriously, the best teacher I've ever had. He teaches very well, and makes sure that you understand the material thoroughly. He does excellent reviews before the tests, and gives you a chance of redemption at the end of the semester to bring up your average to passing by making an A on your last final. There's a lot of work, but it helps.
I used to hate math and was not very good at it. I took his class and understood everything. He is very engaging and funny. He gives a lot of work but it pays off. He never gives anything hard its just the quantity that can be overwhelming. BEST MATH PROF EVER!!!
GREAT Professor, He makes class fun. He is very good at teaching and he is always available to help. He takes a lot of grades so you should be able to do pretty good in his class. Definitely RECOMMEND him!
Great teacher! I never took Calculus before this and struggled at first but with all the homework he gives (which is a lot) helps off an extreme amount if you do it. Makes class fun by joking around a lot bu still manages to get material covered in the time he has. Highly recommended for anyone who has to take calculus.
Really good calculus 2 professor. Very clear and makes lectures enjoyable to attend.
This guy here is the one you want to take if you want to LEARN calculus. Lots of work but the tests are easy as long as you do your homework and understand everything. I took him for cal 1 and 2 and I must say I have yet to see anyone teach this subject better. He makes the lectures funny and interesting if you're a person who wants to learn
He is the best math professor I've ever met. He is very clear and if you follow what he says you should be good. There are three major tests and a final. Each test counts as 100 pts and the final counts as 200. 50 pts for online quizzes & attendance. 50 other pts for online EMCF and lab quizzes. If you get 540 you'll get an A.
He is a great Professor. Took him for Calc I and might as well for Calc 2. There are just way tooo much work but its worth it. there are total of 4 tests and a final exam. you'll be doing EMCF, poppers, online quizes, in class quizes and weekly homwroks. He also has a great sense of humor!
BEST PROFESSOR!
Great Teacher!! Teaches the subject very well, great sense of Humor. EMCF and Popper everyday, Online Quiz and Homework every Monday, in recitation quiz every friday, 4 tests and 1 final
Took Morgan for Calculus 1. He's a fantastic teacher, gives a LOT of work but it helps you learn the material really well and also gives you a chance to get a better grade. I'd recommend him to anyone.
Good teacher but way too much homework. If calculus is the only class you're taking then you'll be fine, but just expect to be doing calculus all day every day.
He's honestly really helpful and nice! He's super funny which keeps you from falling sleep and entertained most of the time! He does leave a lot of homework but hey I did it and I'm getting out of there with an A+, and it really isn't that bad. He's an amazing professor. You'll be really glad you picked him. :]
BEST PROFESSOR! BEST EXPLANATION! You don't need to take note everything he wrote in class just take the important think he said because he's always post the lecture note in right after the class on his course website.
Lectures were detailed and went over the material well. Notes are uploaded online. He does poppers for attendance. Weekly quizzes, EMCF, and homework. Good professor, very helpful and fun lecturer.
He was a great prof!
He is an excellent calculus teacher. I took him for Cal 1, and he was able to provide the information with such clarity. He also has a lot of grades. You can't really slack off, because there is so much to do, but he provides a lot of help. My TA was also a tremendous help.
Awesome Professor! His lectures are fantastic because of his clarity and detailed explanations. A lot of grades which makes it easy to not feel bad about one bad grade. Although it is a lot of work, it is worth it in the end better his setup helps you continuously working on math. This setup set you up for success!
Morgan explains things well and is THE BEST. PLUS HIS TWEED JACKETS ARE SO FRESH.
Great!
He's an overall great teacher, but during his lectures he focuses a lot on concepts and theory rather than problem solving. For that he posts reviews, notes and problem solving worksheets with steps and solutions attached. If you want a good grade however I'd recommend taking Balthazar, she's a lot more friendly and lenient with Tests and Quizzes.
Morgan is a good professor to take if you really want to learn calculus. Posts helpful videos online and has a online review session before each exam. There is a lot of homework in this class but it helps you become a better math student. Would recommend anyone to take his class.
Dr. Morgan was regular professor. I did not like the class because during lecture he always pulled up a math software and showed us different functions, spend a long time on that and then did not finish the rest of the slides. A lot of work, got a D, learned more from lab, and no in class test reviews (online only, but not an online class).
Dr. Morgan was an excellent professor. I took him for both Calculus 1 and 2, and he seemed to know his stuff. I would love to take him again. He was really clear, and he provided a ton of help online. He was also great in helping his students succeed. I would recommend him to anyone who wants to learn the material. Always wear some nice jackets too
take him, he knows what he is doing and explains it in class, get a good ta though, that makes all the difference. he has a good sense of humor and has a lot of work but thats good because you have chances to make good marks on some to replace bad marks for others. BLEW IT AWAY WITH AN A
Morgan does a fine job with 1431 and 1432 but he's dropped the ball with PDE. Lectures are repeatedly cancelled. No homework for 4 days then a big pile of it. Homework assigned, but the lecture over the material cancelled.
He is AWESOME! Cracks me up during lecture. Dont expect it to be a blow-off. 3 EMCFs,daily poppers, online quiz, written hw,and an in class quiz due every week. Practice tests are also quiz grades.Easy to fall behind if you aren't focused enough, but he goes above and beyond to make sure you know what you're doing before test day. Will take for Cal2.
He is an awesome teacher! he isnt boring and he give a lot of help! he cares so much that he gives an online review from home just for our success. Take him.
Best math professor I've ever had. If his class is open take him!!!! a lot of HW,EMCFs,Quizzes, but its worth it!!!
He requires alot of his students, but it all helps you learn. He askes alot of the student, but the plus side is that you actually learn the material, because he is good at getting his point across. He tries to make the class fun, not saying its fun, but he tries.
Morgan is a good teacher. He gives a lot of work (HW, online quizzes, lab quizzes, EMCFs, poppers, Practice Tests) but it's necessary to understand the material. He puts lecture videos online and does a bunch of reviews before the tests which are very helpful.
AWESOME PROFESSOR. Was nervous about calculus before taking the class but Dr. Morgan taught it to me very well! Got a high A in the class. TAKE MORGAN IF YOU CAN!!!!
Very smart, but geared toward those that are fresh from HS. I would not recommend for those that have been out of school for sometime. American, so that's a plus, there is no language barrier. Assumes that you have a high working knowledge prior to his class.
Great teacher. needs more examples in class. mandatory attendance. teaches a lot on theorem of the methods. His tests are harder than Balthazar but he posts help on his website although he got lazy towards the end which would have helped more considering it gets tougher as the semester goes on. Needs more bonus. do bad on a test or 2 and goodbye A.
Really enjoyed his cal 1 class! He leans more towards teaching theorems in lecture rather than doing many examples. Plenty of weekly work but he prepares you with many reviews prior to exam.Get help from casa when struggling and you'll be fine! Highly recommend J MO!
Hard teacher, but will teach subject matter very thoroughly. Exams are relatively easy, and he posts online reviews before exams. Took him for Cal 1 and Cal 2.
Great teachr, dont have to read the textbook. Teaches more theorem than anything else, but if you want to be an engineer or math major than take him.
Posts videos of all his lectures and extra review videos, too. Explains concepts well, easy to understand. Also, he reminds me of Gibbs from NCIS.
I dont know what the person below is saying, but for me the course was simple. Yeah sure he does post videos late but not all the time. I did all the HW, Emcf and reviews and i got a "B+" in the class. Just study and you'll be ok. In my experiance, if you do the hw, you will pass the class. His test are based on hw examples. Overall, Cool Guy.
Took the class online. Dr. Morgan is highly intelligent, but spent a lot of time teaching theorem, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but if you get lost, you're gonna be lost for a while. Gave us plenty of time to do homework, very thorough exam reviews, lenient grading on exams. 240 out of 300 on the midterm was considered an A.
I love Dr. Morgan! Took him for both Cal I and II and wished he taught 3. Very fast paced, so try your hardest to keep up or it's easy to fall behind. Got a B in Cal 1 and an A in Cal 2. I highly recommend him!
He is the best professor for Calc. He teaches you the philosophy and theory of every concept. Very tech-savy. All the lectures are posted online plus extra lectures/reviews from past years. He's very funny too. TAKE HIM!!
He is one of the only professors that do not curve the grades. Ended with a D, will look for someone else next time.
Really good professor, explains everything very well and has a lot of interest in teaching. But, I would suggest taking Balthazar if you are a freshmen as she is a easier professor and gives extra credit as well.
Contrary to what is said, he does curve the grades but only if you have passed the class. Those that don't get lower grades than they should since he doesn't even take the time to correct them. He is good explaining clearly from Walter Rudin's book but it will be hell to understand something that you ask him during office hours. GL...
He is an extremely helpful professor because he explains concepts and the theory behind them, and also posts numerous videos on his course homepage that correspond with the material. I highly recommended this teacher; you must work for the grade, but he gives you all of the material you need to comprehend the subject and make an excellent grade.
I took calc two and three at UH and made easy As, but this guy is too messy and does not provide feedback = you cant correct your mistakes. So, If you are used to learning from mistakes do not take him. BTW I TOOK THE FINAL and he pulled some problems that were not fair material as it was not even covered in the book, or adequately by him.
Terrible. Does not respond to questions that are asked. Either you get no response at all, or get the answer to "google it." expects you to spend countless hours on his class by posting up to 8 hours of video a week. Most of the video is over your head. spends tons of time on easy concepts most people know and speeds through the hard material.
Dr. Morgan used too much technology. Spends too much time showing programs and not enough time teaching material. Does not explain all the symbols he has used. He took a 3 hour course and condensed it to 2 hours. Would not get through all material. he would say for 3/4 of the material you can read and learn on your own. makes you feel stupid AVOID.
I took him for calculus 1 and 2. He made it extremely easy and clear. The extra videos he would post after class would help.
You can't afford to miss an assignment or FITB(multiple choice assignment). He does recognize effort, but he expects you to work for your grade. Don't take if you won't put the time to do all the work. Just read the book and do assignments and you'll be fine.
I love Dr. Morgan. I've had him for Cal 1 and 2, and now Advanced Linear Algebra. He spends lots of time clarifying things for us, and gives us excellent feedback on the online forums. He replies to questions within the same day, and I'm so lucky to have him for this class! I hear all the other profs who teach this class are terrible.
Its a math class so you have to put in the work. He curves on exam 20 points, the H.W. assignments are straight forward but his online problems are challenging . I found myself going to CASA every week to solve them. He gives you a review for his exams and also gives extra work for bonus points. He spends a lot of time on theorems give 2 exams.
Dr. Morgan does a wonderful job during his lectures and answering student's questions. However, the class itself is very information heavy and requires a lot of worktime to make a good grade. I would suggest taking the class during a semester with other easy classes
Terrible. His online class is a joke. One lecture a week and it barely helps if any. It's all self-study and the material is atrocious.
Do not take for advanced linear algebra unless you want to spend countless hours doing homework. Online lectures are very helpful but are given one day before assignments are due. Morgan is very willing to help but expects you to know pretty much every detail from the textbook. Did i mention he assigns a ton of hw?
His class is very hard. He is not clear when answering your questions on the forum. if you take this class, expect to put in hella work because you will need to to get a decent grade. If you skip lectures, it will be difficult to catch up and learn the material. He has two tests, in which he grades very very harshly. I do not recommend taking this
One of the best professors I've had at UH. Very passionate about math, repeats concepts multiple times to make sure students get it, gives a ton of extra credit opportunities. Tests aren't bad, but you need to study. Start homework early, and don't forget to post in the online forum.
Be ready to work hard! There is 1 midterm and 1 final, hw and discussion board activity. There is a lot of homework, so start early on it. Having the book is a must for this class. Also knowing how to read/write proofs is nice too. Dr. Morgan has lectures once a week and will gladly answer any questions. He really wants everyone to do well!
Doc Mo is a cool guy, and I finally had a chance to take him as a professor.
This professor is among the best I've has at UH. He has a different style of teaching which involves a lot of theorems and conceptual understanding of things discussed in class rather than calculations alone like other math courses. The work load is pretty high, but the man cares about your success and you are guaranteed to learn well. 100/10.
I'm new to taking courses at UH, so I can't confirm other student's accounts that Dr. Morgan is the best professor ever, but I can say that out of the 3 math courses I took this summer, his was by far the most well thought-out and well-structured. He puts in superhuman levels of energy into the forums, takes care of his students, and grades fairly.
I'm a math major, and I hate this class with a passion. Taking it online was a MISTAKE. If you can, take this class IN PERSON! He curves, but this class is all self-taught. No live lecture, only once a week help session at bad time. TB assignments are easy, but FITB are all from his lectures (recorded from semesters ago) and sometimes were hard.
He gives waaaaaay too much homework. Like some assignments will take more than 10 hours. Doesn't matter if you're good at math or not, he just gives volumes and volumes of it. Like he'll assign homework for two sections, and in one of those sections he'll assign problems 1-16, and problems 1-5 are 10-part problems while 6-16 are proofs, some 2 part
Preparing Panadol Extra before take this class. It gave me too much headache! :(
I do not learn well at someone else's pace and I hardly attended any of the lectures. This is a hard class but I was able to teach myself the material and do the homework with the resources provided. Dr. Morgan cares for his students and will give you the resources you need to do well in the class and on the tests, if you work for it.
This guy is was the head of the math department and the co director of the testing center along with numerous other positions. He knows the material inside and out and puts lesser emphasize on computational practice. You WILL need to know the theorems and what they mean. HW was a nightmare, goodnight and goodluck.
Dr. Morgan is a great professor! He gives plenty of resources for you to be successful. The only down side to his class is that his lecture videos are extremely long, & the amount of homework that he gives can be too much. If you put effort in & do your homework & watch the lecture videos you should at least get a B, but the A is possible.
easy test, great lecturer
As my 2nd semester in Graduate school from the same University I must say his course is by far WORK HEAVY than any other courses I have ever taken. Be prepared to do 6-8 hour days of nothing but homework for this class, 7 days a week! Just when you think it's done you will have next week's assignments due. Be prepared! Exams are based on HW's.
Dr. Morgan is a great professor. Students in my class were so lazy, but they always managed to blame him instead of themselves. He has a unique teaching style that helps students to really learn the material. I highly recommend this professor as he is one of the very best.
Dr. Morgan is truly the greatest Math professor I've ever had at UH. However, after taking both Linear Algebra and Advanced Linear Algebra with him, I can say one thing: this class is the hardest thing I've ever done. He assigns an ungodly amount of work every week - more than any class I've taken by far, and tests require alot of preparation.
He is such a demanding professor. He gives mountains of homework, which takes days to complete. It's the most impossible class ever. If you take his class, then prepare to give attention to only his class and forget all other classes. Because that is what he assumes, that his class is the only class you have! Requires a ridiculous amount of work!
Dr Morgan is an awesome Math professor. This Statistics class is very Linear Algebra heavy. His homeworks are tough and will require A LOT of your time. His exams are just like the review, so study the review completely and you'll be fine - the challenge are the Homeworks. I enjoy how he structures the course and will take him again. GOod luck
Don't take this professor unless you have an abundance of free time and enjoy math. The professor assigns an unreasonably large amount of homework that is due weekly. He also requires participation in an online forum for bi-weekly grades that count for 10% final grade. Numerical Analysis will be a massive time-sink if you take it with this guy.
If you take this man, prepare to focus all of your energy on the homework he assigns. Avoid this professor if you have a full-time or part-time job. This professor doesnt respect the time of his students and comes off as condescending and rude. He may also change parts of assignments on the fly with no written notification.
I regret signing up for this class. The reviews saying he gives too much work are 100% correct. He gives good lectures, but he works everyone to death.
Professor Morgan is a good professor who is willing to work with the students. However, the workload is heavy so be ready for that. This is not the class to take for those who are taking other classes than this. You will have to dedicate so much time to pass this course.
I've never excelled in online classes, and I definitely didn't devote the time I should have in this math elective since I had a very full schedule. Dr. Morgan is a great lecturer and provides as much help as possible, but expect TONS of HW and very challenging exams. I would not take a course with him again unless I had a light course schedule.
Responds quickly to email and the class is organized good but his teaching style makes me feel like a 3rd grader we do nothing but drill and drill and drill it is all practice all the time and nothing interesting I started off loving math and now am bored by it this guy ruined my math interest
I took this as an online asynchronous course, and he quickly became one of my favorite professors ever (I'm a junior). He teaches the concepts amazingly well, has a dry sense of humor, and is very direct but also really nice. The homework is a lot, but it doesn't really hurt your grade to skip a few problems as long as you understand the material.
Dr. Morgan is very knowledgeable about the content, and it truly shows in his lectures and forum replies. Emails are responded to quickly, communication is great! Be prepared for LOTS of homework, but they help tremendously for the exams.
Professor Morgan is really helpful and supportive. Forum board is the best part of his class as it helps you for assignments and any other queries. Each week one FITB and assignment is due and every two weeks one forum grade is due.
Professor Morgan is a great professor who genuinely cares about you passing. I'm not the best at math, but he managed to make it very simple to understand. That being said, there are two hws due per week. If you procrastinate or if you'll be taking any other particularly grueling classes then if may become overwhelming to keep up with everything.
Prof Morgan is great at what he does, which makes sense because he has been teaching this class for almost 30 years now. 1 assignment and 1 FITB due every week. 2-4 hours long lectures every week, 1 Midterm and 1 Final, gives a curve and has weekly live meetings to help solve hw questions. You WILL learn the material so be prepared to put in work
Professor is awesome and the top choice if you really want to learn what you're working on. The test will be similar to the review and you just need to study off of that, however, if you just want to pass the course with high grade while still working more than 30 hours then watchout because there are a lot of work that are required
His lecture videos are long & his hws can be hard & tedious but you can easily receive help from the forum, his additional videos, and his 2 hour online help session he does every week. Dr. Morgan is a good and caring professor, I strongly recommend him. Be warned, this class is one that you must put the work into if you want to do well.
Best professor for math at UH! Yes the assignments were long and hard, but make sure to do some time management and you would easily be able to turn them in. The weekly zoom meetings were VERY helpful in case anyone had questions. He always makes sure that you do well and succeed. His exams are not hard as long as you study the final review.
Prof. Morgan is a very good professor and he wants you to succeed, the workload is unbearable sometimes, hw's tend to be long (2 per week). He gave some extra credit and he gave guaranteed questions for the midterm and final, so you can get at least a 50, he gives you the material to get a good grade, it is up to you to take advantage of it.
The way he did the course made it so easy, you should definitely work with other people or join a discord for this. I don watch lectures, I just watched youtube videos the week before each exam and did not do bad also he gave 50% of the test before you take it to study.
PDEs @UH,Tx. This professor goes above and beyond for his students. For the online course of PDEs, he gives excellent recorded lectures and also refers to his personal supplemental notes for each week. Jeff Morgan also gives a review/ practice exam for the midterm while also spending a lecture going over the questions for the HW during the lecture.
Prof. Morgan makes this tough class manageable. The weekly homework is challenging but he provides great support through office hours and online resources like unstuckstudy. With dedication, you can definitely succeed in this course.
homework and quiz every week, only 2 exams, both weighted 30%. gives a lot of detailed notes to read each week that help tremendously. homework and quizzes are almost always harder than exams, and he prepares students extremely well for exams. very responsive and always tries to help students out. posted lots of old material.
He is one of the best professors at UH. I finished with a B even though I struggled. Quizzes (not proctored) and homework's are 40% and take a lot of time. Midterm 1 is 30%(study the review guide he gives u) and the final is 30%(study the final review guide and midterm like he says). He applies a weird curve at the end but it helps. TAKE FOR PDE!!!
Dr. Morgan is great. His class is asynchronous but holds weekly meetings for questions and lectures. Quizzes are relatively simple, but homework can take some time to do. His course is quite test-heavy, but his review sessions definitely help.
love this man to the moon and back. has optional synchronous lectures. gave an unfathomable, unbelievable, absurdly humongous curve on the final. take him immediately.
