Jeff's class was a lot of fun to go to. He jokes around a lot and tries to simplify concepts by finding examples from clips from tv or movies. I was actually went into this class hating psyc after 100A but his 100B class actually made me enjoy psyc. This class does have a lot of reading and hw to do. I highly suggest signing up for the studies

I only went to the first half of lectures as you really don't need to go. All the exams are based on is stuff directly from the textbook. Jeff was great though (once he stopped trying to entertain so hard) he is charismatic and easy to listen to and usually has fun clips to compliment his work, id highly suggest him

He made it entertaining at 830 in the morning. I would actually get up for this class. His notes were helpful and everything was very easy to understand. A very good teacher

Jeff is fairly entertaining and while I didn't attend class too much as you can easily get an A+ without going, I still enjoyed his lectures when I did attend. As with psych 100A, the exams are based mostly on the text so the lecture material isn't as important. However, Jeff was still great and his hair is pretty fantastic.

Best prof I've had at UVic so far. Makes lectures very fun and entertaining. Made me laugh every class. Made material easy to learn and easy to remember. Tests were not extremely difficult if you read the text and listen in class. Easy to get a A or B. Defiantly take his class!! (and actually attend lectures)

Probably the most entertaining prof I've ever had. It's true that he pretty much just teaches the textbook, but GO TO HIS LECTURES! Go simply for the entertainment value as you will never be bored. He cares about the material and wants to engage his students. If you have a question he won't hesitate to answer it either in class or in office hours.

Awesome Prof!!!! The notes are posted online, including the post notes, but don't be tricked into skipping class! He definitely adds his own notes that you will need to know! I signed up for 100B, not any where close to 100A with Niehaus, so I am going to drop it. Oh well, maybe next time when Jeff teaches I'm in! :D

Niehaus is a super enthusiastic prof, and is extremely entertaining. If you are at all interested in psychology, go to his office hours with a question (within or outside the curriculum) and he will be more than happy to chat with you. I looked forward to lectures and was never bored.

Jeff was one of the most entertaining, helpful, and hilarious profs I've ever had. He made going to class FUN! I highly recommend taking this course with him. The material is easy because he brings in loads of examples of things we as students can relate to. I felt like I was going to a comedy show every class.

Jeff was MADE to be a prof. I looked forward to his class every single time I had it. Lectures were clear, hilarious, and relevant. The course itself almost required reading the textbook from cover to cover and memorizing, but Jeff made it worthwhile. Must have him as a prof again! Not to mention he's a total babe.

I can find no flaws in his logic, or his beauty... One time he let me touch his hair. He said he uses the conditioner that jockeys use on their horses before a big race. I could tell.

This is the only class I even look forward to going to! Lectures are so funny. Fridays are kinda boring cause of the change in profs, totally noticeable in the lack of attendance. Overall its an awesome class that I would totally recommend. Switched my 100B class next semester just so I could have him again!

I love his class so much! He's funny and always has an excellent example/story about the material that makes the concepts easy to remember. The lectures really helped clarify what I read in the textbook and made the ideas stick. I'm taking 100B from him next semester and I'm very excited. I would recommend him to every psych student :D

An absolutely amazing class but definitely not an "easy A" psych elective. Jeff's enthusiasm and lecture style are awesome, and really make you want to attend class; it is refreshing to be taught by a prof who really wants to be teaching(vs research). And Jeff, because I know you're reading, please fight to teach another 3/400 level class next year

Jeff is an exuberant personality that is contagious I warn you! He is also an interested, dedicated professor who loves to teach. Very approachable and always willing to help. This course "kicked my ass" in a good way. It was not easy but it was interesting and worth the work. Highly recommend this prof! A+

Tremendous prof! Encouraged discussions to the point where he had to reign us back so we could actually cover the powerpoint slides. Very interesting class (Moral Cognition) with topics that challenge your preconceptions. Loves teaching and will discuss anything during office hours. We need a second semester course: 391B Discussions with Jeff.

A nice guy and a good prof all around. Lectures are interesting, and PowerPoint is actually used pretty well. Not a lot of personal interaction to speak of in a 300+ person class, but that's hardly something to complain about. He has a good sense of humour and definitely cares about his students. Definitely recommended.

Awesome Prof, keeps class pretty exciting and is very humorous. A lot of students found the multiple choice test a bit difficult, however 75% is from the text SO read the text and know the terms and you should do fine. Deffs sign up for Jeff class!

Lectures are fun and memorable! Although lots of learning is self-taught through the textbook, his lectures provide humorous and significant signals to remember information. Amazingly, Professor Niehaus actually made a course about statistical methods in psychology enjoyable! He provides a supportive and encouraging learning environment. He is more than approachable in office hours, and his tests and assignments are fair. However, don't miss lectures because he has some notes that aren't in the course pack.

The lectures themselves were pretty boring, but he does his best to make it interesting. I would recommend him just for that reason. If you put in the effort, you will be rewarded with a good grade. The only reason to go to class is for the easy clicker grades, other than that it is really easy to pull off a decent grade.

Amazing professor! He makes his lectures very interesting. Have never had a boring lecture. Always guaranteed to laugh in every class. Go to every class you will get easy I Clicker grades. However, this class is a lot of work. Quiz and 200 word forum every week. The midterms are very challenging. Only take it if you want a Psych Major.

Oh my lord. He is perfect. He suggested failing to take his class again in the summer, and I almost considered it. I am actually sad that we only have one more class left with him. If you never have Niehaus as a prof, you are most definitely missing out.

Niehaus' great sense of humor and passion for the subject made lectures very enjoyable! He responds questions via email very quickly. Our TA was the only thing I disliked about the course. It seemed as if she marked forums according to her mood and whether or not she thought you might like LOLcats as much as she seemed to.

Entertaining prof especially for a summer course

Officially favorite first year teacher at Uvic! He made first year bearable. Psych 100a and b were the most entertaining courses which actually taught me countless of information that not only helped me in understanding more about me, but the why some people are the way they are.Doesn't force ideas on you, and not going to class is your loss!!

Really great prof, his lessons were always funny and engaging. It shows that he spends time planning each of his lessons and I found going to his class was often the highlight of my day. He took a real interest in his students and encouraged people to ask him if they needed help. He was very approachable and even knew me by name. Highly recommended

Best teacher I have ever had hands down

Hands down best prof in the psyc Dept. Was born to teach and found his niche at UVic. extremely engaging. This was a tough course but he made it challenging and fun.

This class is extremely difficult and VERY dry. Jeff does a great job keeping it light and entertaining. He is always happy to help and even sets up video chat to work with study groups on the weekend. The course sucks, but Jeff's a really great prof.

Amaaaaaazing professor. I actually like getting up to come to his classes. So impressed with his lectures and how he makes them interesting TO ME. With that semantic meaning (look, he did teach me something!) he gives information far more helpful than the text. The quizzes are easy if you just read and take notes while doing so. #1 prof so far.

You know that feeling, when you go to a new restaurant, and eat something delicious, and then you're scared to try anything else on the menu in case it isn't as good? That is Jeff. I want him to teach all my classes because I am so scared that I will be disappointed by other profs after having him. He is amazing. Take his class, seriously.

He was a fantastic teacher, I wish I had him next semester as well, but I didn't realize I was getting a different teacher for 100B. He's incredible engaging with loads of visuals and jokes that keep class fun. The quizzes and iClicker use helped me make sure I knew the material, and I definitely had a good time!

Makes the ungodly boring material in Psych 300A actually fun at times. No other prof will ever go so far out of their way to help out students the way that he does. Encouraging, funny, shows enthusiasm for topics we all know he doesn't love- and it is contagious. Oh, and he is incredibly funny - as a bonus. Take as many classes with him as possible

At some point you NEED to take a course with Niehaus. He uses humor in his lectures so you want to pay attention. Not going to lie, I wanted to be his best friend. If you take his class you will be hanging on his every word. As for easiness, the exams are reasonable but you definitely have to study. Forums are marked by TA's.

Great prof who really cares about the subject.

Niehaus is an amazing professor. His lectures are interesting ad funny; he makes learning fun. The clicker points are good motivation to go to class, but the fear of missing a good joke was motivation enough. He is a great prof and everyone should experience his teaching at some point during their degree.

Really good professor, very funny and makes the dry material as interesting as possbile. Also throws in some really entertaining jokes for good measure along the way.

Stats is a dull, dry course, and Jeff does his best to make it as painless as possible. Really funny and made me legitimately care about the material which is pretty dang hard considering the course. Course pack is nigh-incomprehensible at times (especially the layout!) but that's hardly his fault.

A very funny teacher, came to class just to see him. Class attendance was mandatory because of clicker questions except on Fridays, but Friday video classes were still interesting.

Thoroughly explains material and never "leaves a man behind" when stuff gets tough. He is very test-tardy but makes it up with his hilarious lectures. Fair, friendly and very helpful. If you're gonna take any stats, do it up Niehaus-style. Attend every class because he complements coursepack well. It's the kind of stats you won't regret taking.

Great course, loved attending lectures. Content stuck because it was clearly explained and Dr. Niehaus clearly wanted to get the informationa cross to the students. Tests were challenging, but reasonably so, and as long as you followed along the posted slides and the lectures, you could expect a decent grade. Absolutely adored his teaching methods!

I just completed a 3 week Psyc class that I was dreading a month ago. I was pleasantly surprised when Jeff walked in the room and captivated the class with his outgoing personality and witty humor. I can honestly say he is the best professor I've ever had. Uvic should be extremely disappointed to be losing such a wonderful professor.
