He integrates his subject matter with cultural influences to keep it interesting. His obvious love of his field and easygoing nature make a very fun class
Loved him. Great teacher, great smile. Easy to understand and obviously caring about his students.
Found his class very boring. Test were hard but he would offer help to anyone who ask for it.
cool guy, likes football, gives extra credit
I took this class during may mester(big mistake) and I struggled all the way through his class. He was very boring and his test were too hard for a 3 week course.
Great teacher. Knows his stuff and explains it thorougly. Tests are sometimes hard, but definitely take more notes in class than what's on the powerpoint, and you'll do ok. Reminded me of Jack on "Will and Grace" but he's married! :) I liked him a lot.
Very great professor. Really goes in depth with the material. Be sure to take lots of notes because his tests are somewhat difficult. His tests (for this class) have a geogrphical section, multiple choice section, short answer questions, an essay portion and an extra credit section. Never skip on Fridays! He gives in class assignments!
Very helpful, fun, made history interesting and not to bad on the eyes.
I had him and dropped him two weeks before drop date. He cannot teach. I love History and I want someone to be able to teach me and tell me a story about the Indians or Chinese. He's all about powerpoint and makes you read dumb stories. His test are hard because he can't teach. Good luck if you take him.
Mr. Pardue is a very funny, helpful teacher. His Western Civ. tests are pretty hard, but if you take good notes and do the readings you shouldn't have any problems.
DON'T TAKE HIM!!!!!
Great teacher. Knows his stuff. The tests are extremely easy IF YOU DO THE STUDY GUIDE AND READ. You can't go wrong taking this guy for any class that he teaches. Very likeable. Great Lecturer. Uses many images and maps make the lessons interesting.
This guy is a great teacher. Thers no question that he is the best teacher that I have had. His test are fair and he gives out a study guide.
GOOD TEACHER, KEEPS YOU VERY INTERESTED. MIXES UP WAYS TO LEARN: GROUP WORK, PAPERS, LECTURES.
coool guy, VERY INTERESTING CLASS, if u study test is easy.
Mr. Pardue is an excellent teacher. I took his class in May, and I didn't even feel it. His tests are a little hard, but not impossible if you take good notes and read the book. The stories he makes you read count a lot so make sure you complete them. His class is not boring at all (if you like History).
If you're taking a history class at GSC, take it with Dr. Pardue.
What a tremendous guy! I had a blast in this class.
...hard!
All i can say is, DO NOT TAKE PARDUE! WORST CLASS I HAVE EVER TAKEN!
Very easey if you do the study guide. You have to write an essay after each test but my trick was, to wrte it down then memorize it. He qives you the essay quest in the study guide. Just memorize it and you will get an A!! Awesome class recom. him for all hist. classes. easiest one
Overall, great prof. It's more like he's telling a story than lecturing on history. Tests are hard, know the study guide, and you'll do fine. He also offers lots of extra credit on his tests. You have to go to class, because a lot of his test material comes from lectures. We had to write a 4 to 6 page essay, which wasn't the greatest.
The class is routine and structured. There is alot of material to cover so unless the subject already interests you be prepared to study the notes and read the chapters alot. He gives study guides for the tests which include a 20 point essay section. We had to write an essay on the assigned novel, which is an easy A if you are an average writer.
Mr. Pardue is an awesome Professor! His test are all from a study guide that he gives you weeks in advance with the Essay ? included! He is very easy to talk to, and always in his office when he says he will be. The class is very relaxed setting.
VERY CLEAR TEACHER. He is very laid back and you always know what to expect and what is going on. No guessing what will be on tests. He gives you a great study guide before. He is a very ginuine person. Believe me you'll like him. If you study what he says you will do great.
One of the easiest classes I've ever taken. If you have a basic knowledge of history you should ace this class. Print out the Powerpoint notes he posts online beforehand so you won't have to take any. You only use the book to study for tests, which you'll get a study guide for, but he'll ask questions that are in the book but not in lecture notes.
He is a great teacher, lectures are interesting, use powerpoints and book (brief edition), provides study guide, all multiple choice tests
Nicest guy ever. I loved him. As long as you say something in class once every week or two he will love you and you will pass. Plenty of extra credit and curving. If you don't get an A somethings wrong with you.
This had to be one of the nicest professors I have had. He was extremely helpful and willing to help explain anything you might not understand. I love history, so the class was extremely easy, but if you stuggle with history, then you might need to read the chapters that correspond with the info. in class. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND him to anyone!!!
he is a cool guy and a good teacher. 99% of whats on the tests are on the power points he does in class. he also gives you a list of what you need to know before each test. will definately be taking him for my next hist class.
I took him bc of all of his great ratings. I'm not good with history and don't enjoy it. For me it seemed like nothing I studied was on the test. He also expects you to come into his class already knowing some history. If you love history you should do good; if not don't take him!!
So I have him for maymester, his voice is yankee so 3 hours in their is no joy, but he seems nice. Tests are a little tricky so read read read your book
Not sure why Dr. Pardue got so many negative comments below. The study sheets are a little vague, but they are a good guide for the tests. I have him during Maymester and it is a lot of work, but hey it's over in 3 weeks and it is very possible to get an A or B. Just follow his power points and read the book and you will be fine. Nice professor!
Broadly intelligent and very good test format (EASY if you do your reading).
I love this guy! He is a great teacher, and actually has a great sense of humor. Go by the study guide and you should be fine. Always available for extra help too.
He was one of the best teachers I have ever had at GSC!! I took his class during the summer and say for 3 hours 4 days a week and I thought class would drag on but it didnt last long enough!! He was such a great teacher!! I would highly recommend!!!
This guy was a great professor, and he is pretty funny. All you have to do is pay attention in class and do the study guides and you will be fine. I hardly even read the book b/c it was so boring - but Dr Pardue makes it not boring. He gives A LOT of opportunities for extra credit, so take it! Would def recommend him. Easy A for me.
This guy is funny as hell. One time in our class he asked this chick what some differences were in technology from 1600 to present day and she said "gas prices" LOL and he laughed at her! LOL!! He's awesome though. READ THE BOOK!
More professors need to be more like him. The class layout is very well organized and the study guides are very helpful with the tests. Pardue shows a passion for the subject he teaches like few others. Nice guy who never gets mad and even cracks some jokes. If you need a history class make him your first choice.
Mr. Pardue is a very nice guy. His class was fun and he wasnt boring like most social studies teachers. The tests were hard though and the study guides were to vague. Dont take this class if you arent good at history!!!
Great techer and class. He seems to enjoy teaching.
Wow! I could not have gotten a B without his help. Great teacher. Very helpful. His door is always open.
If you do not like history this is the perfect professor for you. He is great! I had no interest in history at all before I took his class and with one more test left I think I will get an A. Great sense of humor and very interesting!
I loved this class. It was fun, you got to watch movies! Dr. Pardue is a very good (and down to earth) professor, and he grades very well :)
Dr Pardue teaches history with enthousiam. I feel like I know the world Histoy now! One thing to know: You have to be dedicated and serious in this class. He runs out of time and you have to read the book. He provides study guides, however not everything is covered in class. He is always open for questions, even if you have to go in his office.
Ok, I've read some of the comments on here about Pro. Pardue. He is a good teacher and his door is always open. He tries to be funny and make his class interesting. His study guides are a little vague, but we are in college and alot of prof. don't even give you study guides-If you listen and read the asignments, you'll have no problem passing!!!
Professor Pardue is amazing! I loved this class. He made history dynamic and new. Time seemed to go by so quickly. The exams can be a bit tough but they're not too bad so long you study for them. I will definitely try to get this professor again in the future! I made an "A" in the class!
The best Professor.I have learned a lot in his class.Mr.Pardue knows his history.Broadly intelligent man.
He's such a great teacher! If you read the book when you miss class you still get all the information. His study guides are great and if you know whats on them you should do great.
TOO MUCH INFO TO LEARN IN TOO LITTLE TIME. I LOVED THE TEACHER, BUT HIS COURSE CONTENT WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT!!! YOUR GRADE WILL ALSO BE RELEVANT TO YOUR ATTENDANCE, SO YOU MUST GO TO CLASS.
Took this class during summer session in July. Great teacher, interesting, funny. Tests are fair, but one must study & attend class. Would highly recommend. . . and I am not a history lover!
He loves what he teaches and it shows! He is a great history teacher. Studying is mandatory to pass his tests, but you won't be bored.
Dr. Pardue was great! He tells you exactly what subject matter will be on the tests and quizzes before you take them, and lectures are pretty good and usually funny - has an oddball sense of humor. VERY reading-heavy - for the July course I read a full chapter every night plus additional documents. Keep up with reading and take notes - easy A!
Stuggled thru this class! Lots of information to absorb. Study guides list everything you need to know. Tests are straightforward & simple but in order to pass this class, you have to STUDY & KNOW the material! Cant get lazy & stop showing up bcuz youll miss info needed for test. Lectures are interesting and Pardues a nice & funny guy.
Great teacher, wish he taught all my classes.
Ugh Boring
You'll get out the class what you put into it.
great educator. very straightforward and clear in giving assignments. funny too! If you put effort into this class you will pass. I wish he could teach all my subjects.
He really knows his history. Read the material take good notes and reread the material. Listen to random facts in lecture for more then likely they will be extra credit questions on test. He is really big on reading the material and short answers questions on the test consist of material from lectures. Really huge vicking's fan.
His test are really difficult, but he puts a lot of stock in his quizzes and attendance. Those alone raised my grade by an entire letter. Nice guy, pretty funny if you give him a chance. Not an easy A, but definitely worth taking.
He's a good guy and knows the material. He likes to use powerpoint to aid his lectures. Likes to talk about sports especially NFL and college football in down time. Overall, he's a great instructor.
He was a very nice guy and understanding at all times. If you participate in class activities and lectures he is more prone to helping you out, however he is more than willing to help anyone. Overall very nice guy but if you arent into history this class my be a bit of a struggle to pass. He gives eady quizes that are like one question each.
He really knows his history! Gives a schedule of topics for each day, and study guides for tests. His powerpoint don't go into detail, and you HAVE to attend to do good. You have to read the book too. No quizzes, just 5 tests. they are quite hard the questions are tricky even if you know the material. not an easy A or B. gives a little extra credit
He is a smart guy but his class was way too boring. His power points don't help so you have to read and relearn yourself. His tests were kinda hard even though I studied all his tests. He is nice and cool but didn't like his teaching style.
I loved Dr. Pardue! He does a great job keeping the material interesting and he really knows his stuff! Only 5 tests but if you pay attention in class, print out the ppts to follow along, and read your book you will do fine! Gives extra credit on all of his tests. Super nice guy! Definitely recommend!!
I gotta 94 & absolutely loved Mr. Pardue. He is very clear & enthusiastic, pragmatic, & nicest guy ever, I loved going to class, his passion for history is contageous. How did I get a 94? Well, I read each Ch twice, typed my own study guide using his study guide as a template, I came early/stayed late(esp on tests), used CENGAGE webite. TAKE HIM!!
Really great professor. Everything was straight forward, very interesting class and he made me want to come by making the boring stuff fun, letting us read articles and find our own interests. Highly recommend!
I absolutely love Dr. Pardue and his class! He generally lectures with powerpoints but sometimes you'll watch a video. His tests were a little difficult but study hard and you should be fine. 5 tests and 3 essays, only have to do 2 though. He's a great guy and he's very funny and makes it fun to learn. I would love to take him again in the future!
I loved this class! It was easy and straight to the point. There was also no text book! He gives several take home quizzes but drops your lowest 3 at the end. He is a great professor and really knows his stuff!
Great teacher. Funny guy. Very nice
He is really an easy professor to have teaching this class. Gives lots of extra credit on tests and tells you exactly what to study for.
Dr. Pardue is a wonderful professor. He is passionate and knows his history very well. He makes it a little interesting by using clips, movies, props, etc to teach. I actually walked away with quite a lot of knowledge and most importantly a curiosity for learning about history. Defintly study and you'll do great.
One of the nicest teacher I've had at UNG Gainesville. He is very organized and makes you want to learn and care about the material. NOT AN EASY A, but if you participate and study, an A won't be too difficult.
Head of the History department on the Gainsville campus and is very willing to help. Take him and if you struggle then lean on him and he will help you.
Dr. Pardue is by far my favorite professor yet! He is so understanding and he wants you to be successful. Lecture every day over powerpoint but powerpoint is posted. Would definitely take him again!!
TAKE HIM!!!! All you have to do is show up to class and take notes over his powerpoint and you'll make an A. He gives you study guides for every test that are terms needed to study. No trick questions and is straight forward. Really nice guy. Discussion posts every week that are easily graded. One thing he doesn't do is post grades throughout.
As a hybrid class it made staying on track difficult. An important class (19th century Europe)nonetheless. 2 book reports. Online Friday work. 1 Exam. 2 Tests. Dr. Pardue attempts to get students to think, so if you're more extroverted then you will feel comfortable in this class... to my introverted buds... If you do the work, you'll get an A.
Hes pretty easy, if you show up and take notes and then possibly read the book the night before the test, youll be okay. Also, he gives study guides!! The essays arent hard at all, theyre 2 pages. 3/4 are mandatory. he gives great feedback! lectures are kind of boring, but hes got some sense of humor! definitely recommend!!!
One of the greats. You can tell this guy is so comfortable teaching. So professional and expects alot out of you but is so funny and so laid back. The only thing that bothered me is that he calls on people about readings but then again if I had done the hw more often, those days would have been less stressful. Will take again hopefully.
super funny guy but his class is difficult. exams are multiple choice + short answer. most of the time there is material on the exams that was never once mentioned in class. he doesnt enter your grades so you have almost no idea where your average is sitting. however he is a reasonable guy and will work with you.
Took his class during Covid so it was hybrid format. It may be better when class is in person full time, I found the online portion to be difficult. Tests were over material not highlighted in the minimal class discussions. Gets the class engaged which is good, but as I mentioned, tests didnt always seem to align with what we talked about most.
I greatly enjoyed this class, but it wasnt a breeze to an easy A. You have to attend each class or you wont do well. All course material is in the class lecture, not in the PowerPoint. Take thorough notes and maybe get a study partner to help keep track of things bc the tests are essay questions and they are thorough. He is fair and reasonable.
Chill dude He mentioned his cat a couple of times and cracked jokes often. He included pictures in his PowerPoints so that helped a lot He made the history come alive
Had him when he took over for our professor who went out on maternity leave and was very impressed with him. Took him a little bit to adjust to the length of the class but seems to really care for his students and gives thorough lectures.
Good luck trying to study for exams, the powerpoints are bullet points with no details unless you take tedious notes every class. I made long study guides for every exam and couldn't score higher than a 75.This professor also claimed I plagiarized an essay and told me I wasn't smart enough to write what I did. I would never take this class again.
The only thing in the grade book when I dropped was the first test. The tests are difficult, and his lectures are boring. The material is very difficult, and his teaching style makes it even harder. Over 10 people dropped the class with me. He said he changed his teaching style so be careful of past reviews. The worst class I've taken here.
I've taken Dr. Pardue for HIST 1111 and 1112, and I will continue taking his courses. He's a great guy, but his courses are lecture-heavy. His tests make up most of your grade, along with quizzes and discussion posts. He is a lenient grader and very understanding! To pass, all you need to do is show up and be ready to learn!
Pardue's tests are some of the toughest there are. The questions are in essay format & puts everything you've learned into consideration, so don't skip studying for them. Quizzes may be graded weirdly so if you think you did better, check with him and he will correct them. Other than that, he's chill & his lectures are par for the course.
Excellent professor. Very smart and very interesting. Love his lectures. Must attend class to get all the info for his tests. But his lectures are amazing. He is so kind and wants his students to do well. Only 3-4 exams for grades. If you attend class and take notes, it's a breeze! Would definitely take him again. One of my favorite professors.
Dr. Pardue is a good professor. I just think his powerpoints could be a little bit clearer and sometimes I feel like he speeds through them and I can't keep up. His really exam heavy. There are only 9 discussion posts so make them count. The exams are focused on ID, dates and essay questions so you need to study. He is not a very forgiving grader.
Very chill professor, he's the head of the history department so he knows a lot about it. Tests are written but only about 5 questions which you choose a few to answer. He always puts extra credit questions on the end of tests and some of them are no-brainers. There is no textbook but he gives a study guide about what you need to know.
I loved this class and professor! His lectures are very interesting, and he is engaging! All you need for a good grade is to attend class. No studying needed, just pay attention. Would take again very fun!
Dr. Pardue is great. he is a funny guy and cares about his students. He is a little AI paranoid so everything is in a blue book but if you juts come to him if you're struggling he is very easy to talk to. He wont let you fail if he can see that you're trying. He is very kind!
