very unhelpful and rude.
He likes you to work for it, knows Pro E the best of anyone at UNCC
He is very unhelpful and rude. Hates it when you don't understand things. He thinks you should get it right away.
DONT ASK QUESTIONS!!! (unless you want to be made to feel stupid)
very easy class if you do the hw...do it all and get an A. very helpful if email him, he explains everything. better if you know something about drafting in his class.
This guy needs to learn how to be a real teacher not just a demonstrator he doesnt explain anything so be prepared to learn it yourself this guy sucks
No Comments
Pretty cool guy. This isn't some pushover class like 1201, but it's not that hard if you do the homework and proE stuff.
Jeff's great for non class related things. But he only will explain things once in class. For a subject that everyone has no knowledge of (PRO-E) he acted like we did. TA's are usually very good. Jeff's alright once you get to know him.
Needs to slow down a little instead of speeding through Pro-E demonstrations as fast as he can go. He could make effective use of the board by writing the commands before demonstrating them, unfortunately he doesn't do this. Not a bad guy though.
he doesn't slow down, but he does help you if you ask him to.
hes just too fast
He is helpful is you just ask him. Goes through everything very fast. Not great but not terrible either. He's a pretty cool guy for the most part
ehh he's alright you wont see him much though. Most help will come from the TA. Class isnt bad if you keep on top of your parts and graphics.
I can't see how this class could be any clearer. You get drawing and drafting homework, you have a week for the drawing and two weeks for the Pro/E. Just do it, and get an A.
this is the easiest class ever you are a retard if you cant get an A
Not a bad class, 2 hr class, most of the time lasted 30 minutes, get your drawing assignment and pro/E assignment, and thats that, turn it in in a week, and get another assignment. Very Very easy class if you sit down and do the work, some take minutes, others take a while.
this class was pretty easy for the most part. he actually helps you out on pro/e when you need it. the final project kinda sucked cuz it really didn't relate to mechanical engineering, but that assignment wasn't chosen by us so what can you do. i'd retake him, just for something other than boring drawings every week.
Extremely easy class, almost to the point of being a bit of a waste of time. The lecture period usually only lasted 20 - 30 mineuts during which we'd hand in the latest assignment and recieve the next one. Often no one was avaliable to answer questions, which was a bit frustrating but I always seemed to make A's so it was never a real problem.
Good teacher, expects you to read the book to figure out how to do the homework. Overall cool, laid back instructor. Will help if you ask him.

This class/lab was a joke. As long as you had all of the required sections in the reports, the content didn't seem to matter much. Just include all the right sections and throw a few plots in every report just for good measure.
He is an easy going guy. He does expect you to read the book to know what is going on. Just do the homework assignments and do the CAD drawings and it is an easy "A".
Lectures pointless and very unhelpful. Never responds to emails and doesn't teach anything that has anything to do with the homework. Never goes over the homework. Big awful waste of time!
What you learn while taking the class is cool (using Pro/E)...the class itself is not hard at all. But, as for Raquet, he is too wrapped up in some tool company he is trying to design stuff for to bother with his teaching duties. He never responds to e-mails and his door is always shut during his office hours, only because he sleeps during them
Good teacher but hard to get in touch with out of class. Is very knowledgable and makes class interesting.
Well, his nickname lives on: "Easy 'A' Raquet" His sophomore design class was a bit of a joke. Really cool that you learn machining and you get to make an air engine, useless in the lecture. The final project for 2156, the notebook, you are supposed to have it done in detail, but there is no way he checks 100+ note books. Easy class, no sweat.
Horrible professor. Absolutely worthless. Notebook is crap, I actually did all the work for it that he required for the Air Engine and Final Proj but still received a C. Engine isn't based off machining precision so if you can use a CNC machine and bearings, DO IT. You'll get bonus points. Also, impossible to contact when you need him.
Go to class, do well. Hard to get a hold of sometimes, but you shouldn't have any trouble doing well in any of his classes.
He is very knowledgeable and knows ProE more than anybody else in the UNCC, but he goes crazily fast over materials, as if you already knows it, and NEVER responds to emails, even though he tells you that he saw your message!!! Class is easy and interesting. If fall very lazy you shouldn't make less than a 'B'. Just give it some effort for an 'A'.
Awful professor. Never responds to emails, offers a half hour of office hours right before class. cannot understand anything he writes on the board. If you ask a ? he gives you one of those arrogant smirks and barely answers your ? gives 1 easy ex. and explanation in class then assigns hard homework that is nothing like what he went over. he suxs
This is the worst professor I have ever came across in my 3 years at UNCC. you'll never learn anything from him,he spends the whole time solving just 1 problem. You are expected to teach yourself in such a HARD class. just KILL to sign up with someone else, like Sharpe. And oh, he failed 3/4, no curve at all,he wouldnt mind failing the whole class
This is ADVANCED CAD/CAM. Super easy class w/ a VERY SMALL amount of work to be done compared to 1202. I took it in the summer, 3 weeks of advanced features on ProE and some stuff on GeoMagic (CAM system), a week of lectures on stuff similar to 2180, and the last week on a short-interesting final project and a short quiz. That is an easy A. Take it!
If you are to take him for MEGR1202 he is extremely knowledgeable about the software ProE that you must use during the class. His lectures are optional, but he takes a quiz and ONLY accepts homework at the BEGINNING of class. If you miss the beginning of class he is very strict about no late work. be extremely lazy and make a B, easy class.
Rarely responds to e-mail. Absolutely no extra credit. No curve, no sympathy. Arrogant. Expect difficult tests and homework problems. Quizzes are extremely easy compared to tests and homework but count very little. Class could have been made much clearer given better examples and explanation.
Had him for 1202 and statics. somewhat disorganized. For 1202 had to constantly check moodle for new assignments that would pop up without warning (learned this the hard way by missing a group of assignments). Doesn't return emails. normally pretty easy to find (often in the comp. lab on 3rd floor). Not the best, but would take from him again.
Wanted students to learn, just gets a little disorganized getting his points across. Tests, homework, quizzes were easy, gives entirely too short of time on quizzes though. Final was also ramped up compared to the tests/homework/quizzes.
Rather dry and boring to listen to. Assignments are pretty fair, however details are very important and not paying attention to them will hurt your grade. Straightforward and relatively easy, nothing exceptional.
Never returned a single email. Wasn't really a good teacher (more of a show-er). Somewhat helpful in labs, but spends most of the time talking about stuff that has nothing to do with what's going on.
The course is easy! Waaay easier than ENGR 1201! HW are 60% of the course, so never think of missing a single one. Don't try to email him, because he won't respond at all! If you need anything, see him in his office! Though, he is a very knowledgeable professor.
Plastic was really easy but DO NOT underestimate it or u may easily lose the A. 4 tests and project, 20% each and no final. Tests are MC & short answers & that is why it is easy. The bad thing was that u need to refer to the syllabus to know what to study for each test among a bunch of badly organized files which made studying for exams confusing.
This summer course took my whole time studying it! It isn't an easy course so keep a hard work! Quizzes are extremely easy. The 3 tests aren't harder than the HW problems. STUDY the HW and similar problems and you should be able to at least pass the course. Final was much harder than the tests and too long. Extra credits are provided in the tests.
The lecture is pointless, do the homework assignment, go to the lab. The class is easy, professor is horrible with posting assignments
Do NOT take him! Very smart professor but could't dumb it down enough to actually teach. He never taught but spent whole class reviewing homework assigned the night before that he never taught you how to do in the first place. Tests were ridiculous, too.
Alot of people didn't like him but I didn't find him that bad. He knows Statics really well and the class isn't that hard. In the end it's just a bunch of forces pulling in different directions and you have to use forces and moments to solve for unknowns. Nothing is moving so all the forces and moments = 0. Easy class, not sure why people struggle
I will be quite honest. The course is not at all easy, he's getting blamed by lazy students. He's a great professor, if you're not the type of engineering student that would ACTUALLY study and instead think you'll pass by just studying the night before then i do not recommend you take him. Plane and simple, you want to be an engineer? TAKE HIM!!
Excellent teacher. Answers any questions you may have and does so in great detail. The material is pretty difficult but NOT impossible. If you do all the homework he assigns (and there is a lot), you should be fine. He is a very fair grader too. Most importantly, do NOT fall behind! The material builds on itself as the course progresses. Good Luck!
I took this class over the summer.Very challenging, he is a great teacher and willing to answer any question you have, there are three tests worth twenty percent each, final is thirty percent, quizzes and hw are remaining ten percent. Hw is challeing but he goes over every problem until you have a thorough understanding. Said exactly what was on test
Easy B, kind of hard to get an A. Good Prof. overall
If you need clarification or help outside of class, forget it. Dr. Raquet will not answer your emails, office phone calls, or anything else. No office hours posted in syllabus, no email posted in syllabus, absolutely no contact information whatsoever. If you find this info, do not expect a response if you try to contact him.
Dr. Raquet is not the most helpful teacher. He does not stay up to date with grades on moodle. He waited to the last week to put the majority of grades up so I had no idea what my average was until finals. I guarantee he won't respond to emails. You'll learn a lot when it comes to CAD. Dr. Raquet is a nice guy and descent teacher
If there were 9 things in my life I could cut out completely taking this class would be one of them. I took this as a summer class. He doesn't slow to explain anything. I made many zeros unrightfully that I've had to fight to be changed the whole course. He never answers important emails or any to that extent. Don't expect grades on time.
I took it as summer class and it was great. There was a lot of homework but nothing too much to handle.
Dr. Raquet is a professor who seems to be a knowledgeable engineer but a terrible teacher. His class lectures are fairly informative, but everything related to the homework assignments and grading are incredibly frustrating. Assignment grading was poor. Grades took weeks-months to be returned, with zero feedback. No office hours. Terrible at email
He is definitely not the type of professor that you can count on to interact with & have questions answered. He posts "office hours" but is rarely available during them. He takes weeks to grade so you never really know where you stand. He gives zeros for work that was turned in on time, and then followed up and turned in again still "zeros"
He is a knowledgeable professor and great person. He just isn't very clear on the assignments sometimes and disorganized in grading. He rarely returns an Email. He is a smart guy though and understands and explains things very. He also answers questions if you ask.(make sure it's in person)
This guy does not have office hours and very seldom responds to emails , literally have to hunt him down after class if your need to talk to him but other than that he was fine.
This class is tuff in general but when you go a entire semester without receiving any grades for assignments. He got so far behind that we only had one test and the final became 50% of our grade, I had done well but did not so well on the final and brought my grade way down.
In terms of workload, this class wasn't bad. It was challenging for the first few assignments because we didn't know how to use loops in Matlab. Our midterm/final did not involve coding, so we only had to solve problems mathematically using the methods we coded into Matlab. My main issue was that he rarely posted our grades.
Oh Raquet.... He rambles. A lot. mainly about mouse traps. We had many lectures on the safety department here at UNCC and the academic integrity code. The textbook you need you can team up with a group of your friends and buy. It's mildly expensive and you only need it for a few tiny pictures in chapter 5. No tests. pretty easy. Your only option.
If you don't fall asleep during class then I applaud you, because the classes are long, boring, and pointless. You have to go though because he keeps attendance, and you have to turn homework in. He rambles on a lot about irrelevant stuff. He teaches a crap ton of students, so it can be hard to reach him for help, but if you do he will help you
Decent teacher, but doesn't explain assignments nor does he grade them. You won't know if you're doing the work right until its too late
Dr. Raquet has a lot of students and because of his laid back attitude he doesn't stay on top of his graders. Going in to the final weeks of the semester I had no clue what I was making. Half the grades weren't posted. Do the sketches and CAD programs. Get help from the TAs and you'll get 100's. Focus on the project and you'll get an A.
Takes forever to get grades back to you and when they finally come back, you have no idea how they calculated it, even with the comments that are left
This is my second time taking Professor Raquet at UNCC. He is a good teacher but one of my favorite PEOPLE at the entire school. I took him for 2240 (Comp Methods) this time and previously had him for 1202. I was so used to hearing teachers say things to discourage you from engineering, but Raquet truly wants to see everyone succeed. Great guy
YOU MUST LEARN TO TAKE GOOD NOTES (Advice from Dir. Rothman from MICHIGAN) IN DR. RAQUET'S CLASS. JOT EVERYTHING DOWN! THIS PROFESSOR WROTE THE LONGEST, THICKEST DISSERTATION IN THE DEPARTMENT. HE KNOWS HIS STUFF. TRY PARTICIPATING IN CLASS FOR A GRADE-BOOSTER. REWORK THE HW EVEN IF YOU HAVE THE SOLUTIONS. BEST OF LUCK! WEED OUT THEM CIVILS.
Very disorganized. He preached "doing homework when it was assigned not when it due" but then the files we would need to complete the assignment would be inaccessible online. If you emailed him It would be corrected within a few days, but assignments were assigned on Tuesday, and due on Friday. He had no respect for our time. Useless lectures.
Dr. Raquet is genuinely a nice guy who wants to help and for everyone to do well. However, he is not very good at actually giving feedback on assignments, much less posting grades. CAD assignments are not hard, but graded harshly (with no explanation for the grade). Overall, great to talk to but horrible at staying on top of his graders.
This class was much better than Engr 1201. Do the CAD assignments well and you'll get a good grade. Definitely visit the TA's if you need help. Dr. Raquet is a very reasonable guy and is willing to help in person. Grades are posted at the end of the semester (yes, I mean the END of the semester). Have to work to get an A, but its an easy B.
Dr. Raquet is one of my favorite teachers on campus. He truly wants his students to succeed in both academic and careers I would take him again
Worst professor for what should be an easy class.
He started out to be an okay professor. However, he just goes at his own pace and expects everyone to be on the same page. Too much homework, and doesn't even make comments on what you could do to improve when doing assignments. His style of teaching really turns me off. It should be an easy class but he puts extra stuff for you to do.
It takes him months to get grades in and then he doesnt leave any feedback for you to see what you got wrong. His lab is also very fast paced and if you miss one of his steps, youll be lost for the rest of the class.
The class itself was very interesting, but the professor made no effort to communicate with the class regarding test dates, readings, etc. If you want an easy B though, this is the course to take.
If you don't know what you're doing after the lab, good luck. Your best bet is to talk to the TA's because he is absolutely terrible at responding to emails. In regards to assignments, you won't get a grade back for a couple weeks at best and if you mess something up you won't know what it is you did wrong.
His grading policy is borderline unprofessional. It takes 2-3 weeks to receive grade back but with NO FEEDBACK. He has close to 0 communication with the class and takes days to respond to important emails. This class could very well be taken without a professor since all he says is to read and do the LMS lessons that take 3-4 hours to go through.
Professor Raquet is an okay professor. Assigns a lot of work and will not accept the HW drawings even if it is 1 minute late (have to hand it in). He was mediocre at best. Most of the instruction of how to use creo I learned from friends and classmates. During class, he would FLY by how to do something and wouldn't slow down for anyone.
Dr. Raquet is an okay professor. He doesn't give feedback on assignments other than the drawing assignments. Homeworks are basically how well you can copy his diagram/engineering drawing. If it isn't exactly his then you get lots of points taken off. He responds to email within a decent time but isn't professional with them.
Gives zero feedback when it comes to assignments. He entered lots of zeros for assignments that should be gotten at least 80s. Grading is RNG.
Professor Raquet as a person is a nice guy. However, I have never been so stressed out about a class. I got a 32 on an assignment with absolutely NO FEEDBACK (and all assignments had no feedback). So much homework and none of it is graded in a timely manner. I enjoyed the class content but if I could, I would AVOID this class at all costs.
Fantastic teacher, brimming with information, enthusiastic about students' success, a pleasant person overall. A lot of work in this class, but much is CAD-related, so if you are interested in that it's a blast. The worst thing about this class is that homework assignments - some from as early as October - were still not graded as of Finals week.
Difficult to reach through email and does not give feedback when grading so you have no clue what you did wrong. Very easy class if you just submit all of the work on time.
Lectures were pointless but mandatory for attendance. Feedback on the (many) assignments was practically non-existant and the grades wouldn't even come back for over a month. He also went over the material super fast and wouldn't go back over anything, so if you got lost then you were basically screwed.
I would give him zero stars if I could. Dr. Raquet is a horrible professor. He uses Creo which is the worst CAD software ever. He also has a dumb grading system and gives you NEGATIVE points on 3D CAD drawings you worked hard on. Overall, this professor should be avoided at all costs.
Raquet is a cool guy and tries his best to get back to you abt concerns. Only thing I disliked was the homework, bc the graders were very overcritical, forget one tolerance and your grade tanks, something like that. It also takes a long time to grade the homework, so its hard to determine your final grade. Graded on mostly hw + final group project
Everyone else's reviews pretty much sum my experience. GO NINERS!
Overall I enjoyed this class and professor. He does assign a lot of homework a week but most of the assignments can be completed in about 30 minutes each. I also feel that most of the assignments are relevant to the major and applicable to the engineering major.
I learned a lot in ENGR 1202, however, most of that knowledge was gained from online resources given to us, NOT Dr. Raquet's teaching. 3-4 large assignments are given per week, which is manageable if you use your time wisely, however, the graders could not keep up with this work. Grading is very harsh, and the criteria are not clearly explained.
Dr. Raquet is smart and I learned a lot in 1202, but it mostly was because of the TA's. The lectures were hard to learn from. There was a good amount of homework but it was manageable. Because of so much homework, the graders had difficulty keeping up.
Professor Raquet was a nice professor and was knowledgeable. However, he did not really have clear grading criteria, I learned more from online resources and TAs than I did from him specifically. He gave a TON of HW and would make it all due on Thursdays. I learned a lot, I just don't think his lectures are the right way of teaching even with lab.
Harsh and unclear grading. 1 wrong tolerance and you get a 50. I think so at least as theres zero comments on any form of web homework from him. Takes months to grade homework, says to treat this class like a job but he cant do his. Wasteful lectures (we had one on 3d printers with no follow up assigment/lecture). Worst professor Ive had.
I didn't start seeing grades until the last week of classes because there's only a few TAs and a crazy amount of assignments. He also creates assignments that randomly involve html coding (to make a website) and essays ...for a CAD class. If you know about CAD beforehand, you'll do fine. If not, prepare to spend your entire day in a mosaic lab
Good guy and understanding but until grading
Grading in this class rewards thoroughness and attention to detail. The lab sessions are helpful for learning CAD, but I found the lectures to be fairly random with content that wasn't often applied in class. Grades came in late without much feedback. CAD and HTML familiarity will make this class easy. Expect the occasional paper.
easiest class of my life, even with no CAD background the hw only takes aroun one-two hours a week if you go to TA office hours. GO TO TA OFFICE HOURS! It makes life 10x easier. Professor is an interesting character, but if you do bare minimal you can easily get an A.
Has great lectures and videos to understand the CAD program used. There is lots of homework each week, but it's usually a few easy cad models, drawing practice, and a hand drawing of some sort. He isn't very accessible out of class, nor understanding/accepting of any issues that arise with assignments or their submission.
Dr. Raquet made this class very hard. The program we used, Creo Parametric, was awful. Very hard to understand how to develop the CAD. The only way I survived this class was by going to the TA office hours. If you go to the office hours, you will pass. He also forgot to grade things and I had to remind him several times.
Lectures were posted on Canvas for extra help if you need to look back on a topic. He takes points off for the smallest things for 3d modeling on creo, so attention to detail really matters. Knowledge of HTML and CAD helps for the final (group) project. Hope you get a good group and you'll be fine.
This class had a lot of homework, but online resources and tools like unstuckstudy were helpful for staying on top of it. The lectures weren't the most engaging, but the labs were useful for learning CAD. Overall, the class was manageable with some effort.
This class has a ton of homework but I thought it was fun. He is a very tough grader and you don't get your assignments graded until the end of the semester so you don't actually know your grade. The lectures are pretty useless not gonna lie but the lab was important for homework.
Dr Raquet himself seems like a nice dude but he instructs his TA's to grade very harshly and with no mercy for the most part. This class should not be a 2 credit hour class. The rubric/grading criteria is super unclear AND stuff gets graded super late so you have no Idea if you've been doing the work right. Still should be a pretty easy B I'd say.
