I liked this professor. He obviously enjoys his work.
Excellent teacher
Very good teacher!!
Great teacher!
dude the friday hometown photos were the best. You could skip and still get caught up easily but I would never skip friday because of them
wonderful teacher. You can tell he loves what he is doing. I'm not interested in geography, but I actually liked going to class.
Great job!!! I actually learned a lot in a class that I didn't want to take in the first place. Thanks!
Fun, pretty easy teacher. Great class. Lost some points for not giving me an A when i was 4 points shy.
Decent class. Pretty awesome teacher. Likes to help out students. He's charming too.... :) I like it!
he's the best! very interested in helping his students learn...has a wonderful lecture style - i remember what he talks about! he's pretty funny and gives great examples for the different topics. take a class from him!
great teacher, makes the class interesting and fun
good teacher, articulate, lots of class interaction, does have confusing wording on his tests
Easy Class...you can skip and just go to the exam review to find exact material on test. Good Guy, Interesting!
Amazing guy...Amazing class. I actually remember what he taught me. I definitely suggest taking this class.
this is a good professor
this class sucked!
Jeffrey is AWESOME!!! You'll love him. He's a great guy with lots of interesting information. I thought this class would be worthless and that I wouldn't care about it, but I found it very interesting.
Great professor, very helpful
This class, with this teacher, is very easy. Definitely take it with him. Mr. Smith is also quite funny and makes the subject matter interesting.
He is a great professor and as long as you go to class and take notes you should have no difficulty getting a very good grade.
Jeff is an amazing teacher but his class is far from easy! He makes you think critically about the subject and apply them to life in his tests! its hard to study for without going to class!
Great teacher that works well with the students and keep the class interested! Test are pretty easy if you study.
He is a great teacher! Makes class alot of fun to go to. Just take notes and study that notes and you will do very well on all of the test.
Amazing professor, the best one that I have had yet at K-State. Works hard to make sure the class stays interested and always wants a discussion atmosphere, not one in which students are expected to memorize information just to regurgitate back on a test
Great professor that works well with students. Is extremely friendly and makes sure the class stays interested.
Dr. Smith was a very good professor! He makes sure you understand the material and cares about how well you do in class! He is the reason I am doing a Geography Minor!
The only real homework was the "reader" which is a book he required you to buy. Really easy class just show up take good notes and its a breese to pass the class if I ever have to take any other geography class I am definately going to choose him! My final is even going to be online open note open book and pretty much a 48 hour time limit!
He's a nice guy, very friendly and helpful.
One of the best professors I have ever had. Great job. You must go to class, every single thing that is on the exam is from his notes. As long as you take notes, the tests are super easy. Most of them are take home essays which are not bad. Definitely take his class.
Jeffrey Smith makes this class an amazingly easy A. All you have to do is attend class and take notes and you'll have your A secured. There is only one inclass exam. All the other tests are online, not timed, and open note! He's also very entertaining!
Wonderful professor! I suggest taking his GEOG of Middle America and the Caribbean because it is his special area of expertise. You will be successful on the tests if you attend class to take the notes, and study them! I have learned a TON from him. He uses several pictures from his own personal trips, which makes it in interesting!
Great teacher! Makes class interesting. I didn't want to take this class at first but now it's one of my favorite classes.
Super easy, and is really nice always wanting to help make this subject interesting you will definitely not call asleep! he is my favorite teach at k-state by far!
Awesome man awesome class. if you have the chance choose jeff
I'm a freshman and he is by far the best teacher I've had so far. Be prepared to take lots of notes. If you don't you are setting yourself up for failure. I can't wait to take another one of his classes!
Professor Smith was SUCH a nice guy! Very funny and personable. Class was not necessarily a traditional geography class, and was more of a cultural/social take on geography, which made it more interesting. The tests were sort of difficult, and at times did not seem to follow lectures, but overall it was an easy B.
If you attend class and take notes you will succeed no problem. Very personable and always willing to talk to students (about anything haha). His approach to the course is more a social science than what a lot of people expect (maps and stuff). TAKE THIS COURSE!
Jeff is AMAZING, as a teacher and as a person. I wasn't interested in this class at all before taking it, but his teaching made me want to go and I had it at 8:30 in the morning. He doesn't require that you go to class, but I highly recommend going if you want a good grade, he tests mostly on the notes.
This guy is awesome! He might be my favorite teacher at KSU. Tests can be a little difficult so its essential to go to class and take good notes.
Jeff is one of the best professors I had so far. You are not interested at all about geography? Well, he will caught your attention. Knows a lot, and its always there for you. #5
Love it!
He really cares about students, which is really rare for an intro class like this.
Probably the best professor at K-State. He is knowledgeable and makes you want to go to his class. It's cool because he has been to every place in the world we cover. He cares about his students. You learn a lot, but the class itself is easy just because of how he presents it. This class could suck with any other professor. I easily got an A.
He's an amazing professor and I wish my degree required more courses that he teaches!
Favorite teacher of the semester! He is such a positive person and a fantastic teacher! He is very knowledgable and understanding! I wish he taught more classes so I could have him as a prof again! If you skip this class, you cannot do well in it. That isn't an issue though since his lectures are interesting and go by quickly.
He is amazing! My favorite professor, truly cares about how you do in the class and wants you to do well. All quizes are online, open note. Great person and knows what he is talking about.
Jeff is my favorite professor at KState! His lectures are so interesting because he talks about his trips and relates them to geography lessons. Take this class!
My favorite professor! There is one in class exam at the beginning, but everything else is online. You will want to go to class! Lectures are very interesting and you will learn something new every class, trust me! He is wonderful and SO helpful. This class is an VERY easy "A" if you go to class and take good notes.
This guy is the real deal. He knows a lot of information and is very helpful and friendly. One of the best teachers at Kansas State for sure!
He's a great professor, enjoyed his class a lot!
Fantastic professor. Easily the best professor and teacher I have had. He goes straight off the sylabuss. You have one in class test, after that all the quizzes and homework assignments are online. The final is online also. I would highly suggest him.
Great professor and the lectures are so fun to attend.
The reviews speak for themselves, Jeff is one of the best professors at K-State and had many world traveling adventures to share. The class is an automatic A and you should definitely take it with him.
Fantastic teacher, great lectures that get you involved and interested in learning more. Makes me wish I was a geography major.
Lectures are very easy to follow. He doesn't take attendance, but he also doesn't post the lecture slides. One in-class exam, the rest of tests and quizzes are online. He's a very easy going guy and cracks a few jokes.
He's a great instructor that really cares for his students! He keeps his lectures interesting with personal stories and jokes sprinkled throughout. You can immediately tell that he has a great passion for the subject of Geography! Luckily, most of the things you get graded on are online and are open note. Overall, great professor and an easy A!
Test and quizzes are all online and open notes, so show up to lecture for notes!
Very caring and loves his students
Jeff is the g.o.a.t. Love that man.
FAVORITE. PROFESSOR. EVER. What an incredible human being! I actually cried the last day of his class. Love him. TAKE GEOG 100 even if you are not required to, take it as a elective. Don't take any other class. Seriously. You won't regret it. Wish I was a geography major.
Easily my favorite professor here at K-State. Jeff is so kind, easy to listen to, and he makes learning the material enjoyable. He is chill and easy to talk to if you have any questions. I wish he could teach all of my classes!
I was not excited when I found out that I needed to take a geography class because I have never enjoyed geography. I showed up to class and Jeff quickly changed my mind and made me enjoy this class. The lectures were enjoyable and kept my interest. He is easily one of my favorite professors and this class was one of my favorites this semester.
Oh God Jeff is definitely the sweetest prof I've ever encountered in my college career. Easy A, don't skip class or get your notes from someone .
Jeff Smith is the BEST person to take GEO 100 with hands down. I thought this class would be so boring, but he makes it interesting. His class is made up of a very simple 5 question multiple choice assignment each week, and then quizzes and test. As long as you go to class and take good notes the test and quizzes are not bad. No complaints.
JEFF SMITH IS THE MAN! No attendance taken, all tests are online with no time limit (except the first one). Even though you can't look up some of the questions on the test, if you are competant you should get at least a 80% on all of them. Tests are worth a lot of the grade but are easy. online homework with unlimited tries. Makes class intersting.
I took Geography of Kansas, GEOG 310, online and it was an amazing decision. It was an 8 week, 3 credit hour online course that qualified as a humanities credit towards my K-State 8 requirements. The online course was very organized, somewhat interesting, and if you stay on top of things it should be an easy A and a great GPA booster.
Best teacher on campus. He deserves a 6 out of 5. Fair in every way and is just really laid back and approachable. I also actually wanted to be engaged during class and even though it was a 3:30 class, I looked forward to it every MWF. The school doesn't deserve this man.
I LOVE JEFF. He is my favorite professor I have had so far and he truly cares about his students actually learning the information. His lectures are interesting and I honestly love starting my day off in his class. 10/10 guy and I highly recommend his class. (All tests and quizzes are online and its an easy A).
Dr. Smith is probably THE BEST teacher I have ever had! He is a fun and caring professor, there is extremely clear grading criteria, and his lectures are very clear and interesting! Definitely would recommend him to anybody!
Favorite teacher I've had at K-State by far. I never got bored one time during his lectures, and when he talked about controversial topics he was always unbiased. Would recommend to take him for geography.
Show up and take notes, because that is basically the online exams. super easy
Dr. Smith is a nice teacher who cares about everyone in the class. If you show up to class and take notes, you will pass. All exams are online and they're open note. He tries to make the lectures interesting and funny. He is one of the best professors that I have had so far.
Best Geography teacher on campus. Very knowledgeable and easy to talk with.
Yes! Hands down the most interesting class I've taken. He really knows his stuff. Tests are hard though so be sure to take notes from his powerpoint.
AMAZING! His lectures were engaging and he seemed to really care about helping us learn. My grandpa was terminally ill and I had to go home and miss two classes, but he was very helpful and gave me access to all the notes and even took the time to talk me through them before I left. It was a small gesture, but it meant a lot. Such a nice guy!
Jeff is awesome! I actually look forward to coming to class. His lectures are very interesting, and as long as you come to class and take notes you will do great. All of the tests are online and open note. He makes an effort to try to get to know everyone even though its a big class. 10/10 would recommend.
Great professor for geog of kansas. Keeps the class interesting with humor and relevant topics. His tests are online and solely based on in class notes which arent posted online so you have to show up. If you show up the tests are very manageable. Would reccomend to anyone who needs a h&ss credit
I love Jeff. Hes hilarious and he truly cares about Geography. All the tests and homework are online but they are super easy. You can finish the entire semester homework in about an hour and tests are easy if you go to class. Attendance isnt mandatory so if you dont go yoh can still get a B+. BEST PROFESSOR ON CAMPUS.
Awesome professor. Doesn't post notes online, but if you come to class every day you can get 100% on the tests without much trouble. Plus lectures are usually entertaining, so coming to class isn't too much of a chore
Jeff is one of the best teachers on campus. He loves Geography and knows a lot about it. All of his tests are online and can be looked up but it'll be easier if you go to class and take notes. Overall he's amazing, his lectures are funny, and go to class or not and you'll do great. Easy A class but it's amazing time with a great guy!
Jeff was my favorite professor from the semester. This class was extremely easy and as long as you take notes in class, the tests (which are all online) are a breeze. There is no homework nor is a textbook needed. Jeff takes a genuine interest in students and is hilarious. Wish I had him for all my classes.
I never got bored during lecture because Jeff actually makes the material interesting. He is by far my favorite professor I've ever had, and I believe he's one of the best one campus he's just that good. His lectures are fun, entertaining, and not just him reading off facts. Also, all of the tests are online, so just take notes and you'll be good!!
Not much else to say that hasn't been already. Easy class; great teacher.
Barely did any work. Quizzes were cake. Didn't have to show up for class. Tests are on quizlet.
Jeffrey is a fantastic professor! There is no required book or attendance in this class. However, he will take attendance points randomly every now and then. He doesn't post PowerPoints online, so go to class or get notes if you can't make it. All tests and quizzes are online as well. Super friendly and personable and makes learning geography easy!
This is simply the best class Ive taken in my LIFE. Jeff is one of the most approachable and kind humans you'll ever meet. For Geography of Middle America, you show up to class, take solid notes, and you'll decimate the take-home tests. Strongly considering taking more classes from him, solely because how enjoyable this class was.
I loved professor Smith. Our class was asynchronous, but he would always check in to see how we were doing periodically throughout the course. We only had two weeks of actual lectures and in that time I loved the balance of course content and the experiences he has had/real-life examples. He is an understanding and caring professor!
Presents tons of information about Kansas/World geography and lectures can get a bit boring at times. Overall he is a pretty good professor and this course requires a decent chunk of effort but it is not difficult to pass with an A grade.
Jeff is by far the best and most influential professor I've ever had. I took GEOG 201 the 2nd semester of my freshman year and I was so taken with it that I ended up switching to a Geography major. I've now taken 4 classes with him. His lectures are engaging and thought-provoking, class discussions profound and illuminating. Absolutely outstanding.
He was a great professor and always tried to involve us the students in the lecture, also very kind and friendly!!
I loved this class! It is lecture-based with quizzes and tests online with occasional participation quizzes, but it's interesting to hit on different geographical concepts and see how different parts of the world relate to each other. He's always accessible outside of class and loves when students participate/discuss. Would recommend!
