Amazing Teacher, Really fun and always available during office hours. There are several essays due but once you turn them in you get another 2-3 weeks to revise it for a better grade! How awesome is that?!

I think that Prof. Tannen is a very good teacher he is a English language professional he has the ability to teach his course of study with superior skills. The only regret is that I didn't have more time to learn more from him in the areas of punctuation,due to the fact that time wouldn't permit it. Although the course is over I really did learn.

Mr.Tannen is a extremly good teacher! He very fun and makes learning fun! There are four essays you may have to complete but you can get another chance if you want a higher grade! I highly recommend him!

Mr. Tannen rocks! I thought the class would be hard but it wasn't. I enjoyed attending class. He is helpful, understanding, and committed to his students. If could, I would take his class again. His teaching methods are very affective and any student who takes his class will be more knowledgable when they leave. I wish all teachers where like him.

mr tannen was a fantastic english teacher. he explains things really well and it was tons of fun to go to class. only four essays and hw assignments every now and then i did a little more than half aof the hw and all the essays and got a high B. take tannen!!!

Just COME to class because at the end participation is alot ... his class isn't out of very many points so DO THE EXTRA CREDIT! HW will get you too if you don't do it! He's a cool guy and young and NOT boring!I learned alot& enjoyed comming to class the work isn't hard either. Just DO IT!

Unconventional but effective teaching style. He uses some modern (and some not so modern) pop culture references as well as current events to keep the class relevant. Grading seems somewhat inconsistent as it seems like he attempts to create a natural progression of improvement in scores. Attendance is required for 20% of your grade. Be in class.

Mr. Tannen has made english enjoyable. I hate to write papers/essays, but Mr Tannen's writting assignment are fun. He has you write about your personal experiences. I look forward to his english 1A class in the fall. I would recommend Mr. Tannen to anyone...

This teacher is totally hot. He's really organized and his grading is fair. I enjoyed the class discussions, and he makes the class interesting. I am a better writer now after taking his class.

Mr. Tannen is extremely hot. He made me melt in class all the time.His smile is like butter on bread. Hes a great teacher and helpfull. He helps you out and undertands you. And dosent make you look dumb like other teachers. He jokes arounds and is always in a good mood . I recomond that class is the best!!.

Mr. Tannen was the best teacher I've ever had and this is my favorite class I've ever taken. You do have to work hard in his class, but it's not that hard and he's always willing to help. Take his English 3 class!!!

his teaching methods were too slow for my liking. not college teaching. he was still teaching about nouns and punctuation which i thought was absurd for the college level. tries to be too funny at times. stickler for attendance. class was easy, but was too slow-i found myself bored at times!

I highly recommend this class! His class is easy and he is always available if you need extra help. He is also easy to get along with and ties to make his class interesting. I don't racall taking many tests but there are a few essays. He is always ready to help, so if you have a hard time with essays, this is the class you should to take.

Mr. Tannen was an extremely helpful teacher. I had taken his Eng 125 class, and I knew how he taught so I wanted to take ENG 1A with him. I knew it would be challenging, but he offered us help and told us to go to the tutorial center for help if we ever needed it. The class was really easy. We had 4 essays and the rest were really small assignments

I took Eng3&Eng1a w/ Tannen.He's definitely the most organized and effective eng teacher I've had throughout my college career.He's always availiable and is willing to assist/provide examples to help make you a better writer.His class is a yawn,but worth attending.Only flaw?He should stick with longer hair instead shaving his head.Oh,do ALL ur h/w!

easy class, and i dislike the reading of essays with peers in class. essays can go up a grade-allows you to rewrite them a million times 'till you get that A. high-school like teaching. slow and he's not that funny really...

AMAZING teacher... he was very helpful and provided plenty of help with assignments, as well as outside sources that may be of use for papers. SUPERHEROES ARE AWESOME :P... lol... but you should most definitely take this professor... I had a blast in this English clas!!! :D

Unless you're a person who just wants to pass an English class, Mr.Tannen is the guy you want to take.You will find it noticeable that he really has interest in teaching his students and he will gladly give you constructive criticism when you need it during office hours. You will be challenged but it wont feel impossible to get that A in his class.

He is however easy and very cool teacher. I think I would had a better grade if I actually work on my essay when he first given to us(I was lagging). His grading is decent; would recommend him to everyone who is starting Eng 1A.

Excellent teacher! Class was great. He always wants to hear your opinions and will never make you feel stupid for your point of view. Very fair teacher. Just do the homework, show up for class, and give a good shot at the papers and you will get an A. Very good looking as well!

Jeffery Tannen is a really cool teacher he doesn?t really criticize your opinions he listens to what you have to say then gives you feedback on what topic you?re talking about. You do have to write 3 essay and you get to only revise one. He gives you plenty of time to write these essays. I recommend his if you want a teacher thats cool and helpful.

Super easy teacher! He helps you on your 3 essays when you ask for it and the topics were interesting. You spend a lot of time talking about how to write your essays and he does a lot of group stuff. Do your homework and show up everyday and you will pass with an "A". Did I mentioned we had only one test for his class which was the final?

I have tried to take this class many times before and MR. Tennan is the frist teacher that made this class enjoyable. The only reson for not passing this class is not don't the work. If you have problems with English then this is the class for you.

Totally boring the first day went on and on and on and on and on about himself... get a life! Other than that he is ok.

One of the best teacher I've met so far on campus! Mr. Tannen makes learning in his class enjoyable. It could be boring if the stuff are a review to you. But other than that his class is fun! He is always there to help you when you need it! And he will teach and help you until you understand it! Highly recommend this class to anyone!

Mr. Tannen is very professional! All of the assignments completed inside of the classroom, including homework, and projects are used to assist in understanding key concepts. He is extremely helpful, and available outside of scheduled office hours. Most of the concepts I learned in his class have helped me in written work for all other classes.

Prof. Tannon is likely the best English teacher I have ever had. He's easy to understand and takes the time to explain things in a way that you understand. He truly cares about his students and gives some amazing pointers that I wish I had been given years ago.

Professor Tannen is by far the best english teacher i've ever had. He is very helpful and takes time to explain things to help you with your essay's. He also gives great examples and has a very fun way to get the entire class to get involve during class. Best teacher right here i suggest you take him.

Mr. Tannen is very helpful and is willing to help anybody who needs it. You write up to 3 essays throughout the semester. In his class, you get into small groups very often because he wants everybody to know everybody. He listens to other people's opinion and puts his opinion on it too. Agree or disagree, he doesn't put you down.

easy A. three main essays, homework, final. always there to help you with your essays. you use the book for about half of the semester. you're more than likely going to be working in a group (more than i liked to anyway). explains ideas/topics very well. i definitely recommend!

Tannen is very clear with his grading policy. He shows you what he's looking for so everything is up to you. He's very helpful if you go in and ask for help. Very friendly and chill guy. Take his class if you really want to excel in writing because he cares about making you an excellent writer.

Honestly, Tannen is the best English professor (so far). He gives you comments and critiques your essays anytime you need it, it's just up to you to make the effort to see him for help. I admit, some classes were a snoozer, but most of them were filled with essential info. Overall, he definitely helped my writing skills for my future essays.

Omg! Honestly, he's a cool teacher and all but this class is hard. There's only 3 main essays, but his grading criteria is NOT so cool. Got help from his class tutor and other tutors on campus but his expectations are way too high and it'll stress you out. Just saying.

Mr. Tannen is a great instructor, but he's a tough grader when it comes to the 3 essays he assigns. He gives you feedback on your essays. Also he doesn't tell you what your grade is in his class until 2 weeks before finals.

You need to take him in order to become a strong writer! This is a critical thinking class, you have to put effort into your papers! He gives you upfront what he expects from your writing and he is there to help you. I used to hate English but the push in my writing I got from Mr.T made me an excellent writer, so I enjoy it now! I learned a lot! :)

Mr. Tannen is literally the best teacher I've had at FCC. I enjoyed his class & the way it was set up. Everything was thoroughly explained and each assignment led you to the next. By the time your papers are due, you've written them without even realizing it. He is a tough grader on the essays though. Oh & if I could, I'd give him 2 chili peppers!

Mr. Tannen is a good teacher, teaching you proper grammar and comma use. His essays revolve around one main topic, so choose a good one. We didn't need to buy a text book either. i highly recommend taking this class so long as you are decent at writing a few papers.

I had to work really hard to pass this class. 3 essays. 1 4 page essay, 6 page, and 8 page. However, he will basically correct your work if you go into his office hours and give you feedback so you can improve and correct whatever is necessary to get a better grade. This is what helped me to get an A. I always went in and showed him my rough draft.

Mr. Tannen is my favorite professor by far. He is a tough grader on essays but with his office hours and PASS sessions, there is no excuse to not pass the course! He gives you all the resources you need. There are 3 essays and a final. Class sessions were great, he's hilarious. Just take him, you won't regret it.

Only a $10 book for this class. Awesome. Tough grader, but easy teacher if you pay attention and do your work. I BS most of the time and still got at least a C on my essays. I love working in groups and getting to know my classmates and i got that from this class. This class isn't a cake walk, you'll have to work work it.

The comments below me are really upsetting. Yes he is a tough grader, but his expectations are very clear. He gives you his grading rubic! If you actually want to learn something, he is the professor to take. He prepares you for the rest of college. If you choose not to and take someone to get "an easy A", have fun failing upper level courses!

Do not be discouraged ! He is a great professor. Although I did not pass the course I know if I would of taken it serious I would have passed. He is always willing to help and his feedback is useful. You must be willing to do your part. Do not procrastinate !!! Also make sure to pick a good subject to base your essays on ! RECOMMEND (:

I took him for Creative Writing and I loved the course. Some of my fellow students maybe shouldn't have been there, but he was supportive of all of us and I would love to take a different CW course with him.

He is the most awesome teacher you'll ever meet! Honestly the grade you get is the grade you deserve if you go in his office ask for help, pay attention, and stay on topic there's no reason you can't pass his class. He doesn't give homework like the average teacher he gives easy assignments !

I've always wanted to write fiction but never knew how to start. This class and Prof Tannen easily helped guide me through the process. The workshop style allowed me to get good critique and helped me grow as a writer. Prof Tannen was also very respectful to all students. Easily one of the best teachers I've had so far.

Yes he is a tough grader, but thats a good thing. You will earn the grade you deserve. Don't be lazy, do the work and you will get a good grade. He helps you out every step of the way. You make your own textbook, so take many notes, because it will help you in the end.

No textbook required (you end up compiling your notes into your own textbook). He has high expectations because he makes himself available for help during office hours, giving no excuse for poor writing. There is a paper you will write, which you will interview someone and was a little stressful, but doable. WARNING don't procrastinate!

For English 3, we didn't need a book, just show up to class and take notes and prepare for the next essay. He usually does a textbook project but not enough information is layed out in this class for that so he turns it into an essay. He is a tough essay grader, but he gives very helpful feedback.

No extra credit. As in NONE. Very tough grader on essays but gives great feedback and allows one re submission. Class is largely about critical thinking.

If you show up and participate you shouldn't fall behind.

He is one of the best teachers Ive ever had. He is very understanding and makes sure you really understand whats going on in the class

He is a really good professor who actually cares about your success as a student. He makes it hard for you to fail. If you try hard on your essays and go to him for feedback personally you will pass the class. He is also really considerate if you have personal issues going on that might make you miss class and wont count it against you.

Great teacher but very hard grader. People complain on how he grades but he gives you great feedback and lets you turn it in again at the end of the year. Some-what reading but nothing over the edge. He really helped me build good essays. Cant say much against him.

Great teacher, always up to date and clear on what he wanted for each assignment. Assignments weren't too hard either. The essays were what mattered the most in this class. We wrote at least 5 essays during the semester but he thoroughly prepared us for each one so it wasn't stressful. Gives great feedback. I would take his class again if I could!

Mr. Tannen is an absolute gem. His assignments are always creative and fun to do, as are the quizzes. He doesnt assign super long papers, and he always gives helpful feedback on the assignments submitted to him. I completely recommend taking his class, its LITERALLY an easy A. Ok so to start Professor Tannen is a very tough grader. However, he gives you very detailed feedback and allows you to revise and resubmit papers for a higher grade. He really makes you a stronger writer because he expects a lot. After my failing my first paper I was about ready to give up but I stuck with it and it was worth it in the end.

Mr. Tannen is a tough grader, but he gives great feedback and will even give you feedback on your work before the due date just as long as you show your work to him in time. He's hard but once you see that what he's doing is for you, not him and what he wants, but to push you to be better in your work, you will thrive in his class, just like me.

Mr. Tannen is one of the most amazing professors at FCC. He is super caring and understanding. Just an overall amazing guy and an amazing spirit. He will help you so much and give detailed feedback to help improve your papers and grade. TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU CAN.

Goat. Graded by small assignments that kind of not really add up. Hardly any quizzes, easy homework, but paper heavy. 3 papers about pathos, logos, ethos. Heavy grader. BUT he does let you turn in everything late work if needed until the week before finals. No final exam. Entertaining lecturer. Only thing that is hard is the papers. He is awesome.

I normally do not enjoy English, however Tannen made it very fun and interactive. This class is heavy on participation however Tannen always made it a comfortable space to be vocal in class and participate through lectures and group activities. He is also always willing to help and is easily accessible outside of class.

An amazing teacher, very lightwork, attendance is mandatory but it will not hurt if no attendance.

My absolute fav prof. of ALL TIME. His lectures are very easy-going and participation is a must, but of course it is not difficult. He gives a lot of great feedback and is willing to stay after class to help students. Overall, take him for ENG1A or any other Eng/Comm classes. DEFINITELY WORTH YOUR TIME and you actually learn from his class.

I suck at writing essays, but Prof Tannen really helped me improve as a writer! He actually breaks it down for you instead of just diving right into essays. I loved his class and it was right at 8am! I am definitely keeping my notes from this class for future classes at State! He is amazing! Very passionate about teaching!
