He was a great professor. You take quizzes, and he is newer teacher. Make sure you do the study guides and youll pass. If you attended and do the reading the class is really easy, but if you dont then you will struggle. Im on the lookout for more of his courses to take

Brother Thayne was an AMAZING professor! He really knows the material he is teaching and can answer any questions students have. He is very caring and wants his students to succeed. He responds to emails quickly and is overall very helpful. I loved his class and will take another one of his classes if I have the opportunity to in the future.

I LOVED Brother Thayne's class! The class itself is super interesting and Thayne really knows his stuff. He is always willing to answer any questions you may have and often takes the time to do so. He is quick to answer emails with thorough responses and really wants his students to succeed. He is the best! I'd go out of my way to take his classes.

Super chill class. There were something like 4 group projects during the semester which were super easy but annoying and hard to get the whole group together. The biggest thing you got to do is FILL OUT THE STUDY GUIDES. You can totally miss class, I went like three times, but just do the study guide. All the questions on the test are from that.

I honestly loved Dr. Thayne's class. I loved his format where we would prepare for class and then discuss what was in the reading. There was little to no pressure to be perfect in this class which was very nice. :)

Thayne is awesome. There is an assignment due before every class, but that really helps me learn the material because the assignments were all to prepare you for the exam. If you do the assignments right and pay attention in class the exams will be easy. The only thing I do not love is the group projects, just because I don't like most people haha.

Requires you to come to class prepared but also does the same! Obviously takes time for and cares for his student. Tries his best to form good relationships with students. Would ABSOLUTELY recommend! Brother Thayne is such an amazing professor. His discussions are AMAZING! He has assignments due before class and they are so helpful to fully understand what he is teaching. Those assignments also make up a lot of the test questions. I would recommend him to anyone for PSYCH 111 !!

He was great! There was an assignment due before every class that took at least an hour, but it was fairly easy and the reading isn't too difficult and it is interesting! He taught the material very well and you can tell he knows what he is talking about.

Brother Thayne was amazing! I loved this class. You have readings (that are very interesting, interactive, and you can have it read it to you) that answer the homework assignments. Then he goes over the homework in class so if you didn't understand something he will explain it in class. He welcomes questions and explains well. Definitely recommend!

Professor Thayne is easily one of the best professors I have ever had :) He leads amazing class discussions and is always willing to help if you have any trouble or questions. I have never been a strong student, but I was able to succeed in his class because he is such a great Teacher. Just come prepared and you will be golden!

Brother Thayne is a goofy guy. His exams are all cumulative and based on his quizlets. I used Anki which is a great flashcard program that doesn't let you forget old flashcards. I have shared my deck of flashcards. If you review these cards every day, you will ace the class. Search "BYU-I Psych 111, Jeffrey Thayne" on anki.

Love this guy, his lectures are engaging and he understands how busy students are and plans his exams and assignments accordingly. There's some readings and a notes sheet due before every class, but most of them don't take very long to fill out. Just be ready to spend about an hour or so doing homework before each class. I 100% loved his class

I loved taking Psych 111 from Brother Thayne! He had great lectures that really made me think. He was really encouraging and helpful. We had preparation assignments due before every class which took a bit of time but if you did them you were prepared for class and assessments. We had a weekly assessment which were smaller exams, which was better.

I liked how he sets the assignment prep class due before the discussion so we can easily understand the topic beforehand. The subject is difficult but Brother Thayne can explain it clearly. Also, I like how he gives more examples of every topic when we are confused in some of the principles.

I occasionally had frustration when assignments on canvas would be only in modules or only in assignments. That is my only gripe. Professor Thayne gives fantastic in-class lectures, laying out how the material applies. He is funny and fun to listen to.

Graded on preparation assignments, weekly assessments, and final. Weekly assessments are free response but really allow you to learn the material. If you feel your assessment was graded incorrectly, you can talk to him and he may adjust your grade. He is so easy to work will and genuinely wants his students to succeed. He cares! 10/10 recommend

I would 100% take Brother Thayne again. He made psych easy to understand and learn. He uses a textbook as reading prep for the class. He has small tests every weekend that coves the topics of that week, which is better than a tests that cover everything from the last four weeks of the class.

Brother Thayne is a really good teacher. He goes over all the information in his lectures and he clears up misunderstandings that may come from the textbook. Lots of textbook reading, and proctored quizzes every weekend. Pretty easy grader, do the work, read the book and you'll be just fine.

Read the textbook, attend class even if it's not mandatory and study for the assessments and you'll be fine. There's lots of readings and weekly assessments that will down your grade by a lot if you don't do too great and it's a bit of work getting your grade back up

I enjoyed taking general psychology. I enjoyed how this teacher presented himself and topics. He only graded weekly readings and assessments. Attendance is not required. The only thing I didn't like was the textbook because some of it was confusing or hard to understand. There is a lot of unnecessary sluff in the current psychology textbook.

The reading assignments at the beginning were hefty but got shorter after the few weeks. He is always working on improving the class. For the most part, the assignments are the same each week. There is one prep assignment per class period and a weekly assessment that is closed book/notes. Loved class discussions and a great professor!

This Professor is pretty down to earth. He is very understanding and wants to help you to succeed. He shares great examples from real life experiences, as well as relatable situations. There is a ton of reading but that isn't because of him. He also has a great sense of humor for in class lectures and assignment questions.

Psych 111 is naturally a more heavy class, but Brother Thayne makes it not only manageable, but interesting. He is very forgiving as long as you work hard and do your part. If you read the textbook and attend class, you'll have no problem understanding all the material. It doesn't even seem like a hard class because he breaks it up so well.

He makes an effort to make sure that all students are understanding the material and constantly asks for feedback on his assignments to improve the class. Each semester he takes that feedback and puts it into the course. 10/10 would take again.

Brother Thayne is a good teacher, I was a little unsure of him at first and he can sometimes sound like he's insulting you even though he doesn't really mean to. if you don't go to class then you can get by just fine as long as you go the prep assignments throughly. But they take about 45 minutes tops to do them. I would recommend the class.

His lectures are basically students just giving their own examples of how the topic applies to them. He makes videos that are really helpful to prepare you for class. Brother Thayne is fun and entertaining! He breaks the material down into vocab and creates very helpful Quizlets. There is homework for every class that includes reading which is sometimes really short and sometimes really long. I recommend getting the audiobook version and then using the read aloud function on your internet for the long articles.

Awesome teacher, lectures are like one big group discussion with a ton of Star Trek and other fandom references. Cares for each student and welcomes different ideas and perspectives in class, always working to improve course setup and adapt to how students learn best:)

He is a really fun teacher! The only assignments were preparation assignments and they weren't too bad. All of the answers were found in the readings provided. Tests are every week and are very heavy on your grade (55%) but I didn't mind those because it made the final not as stressful. I would take this class again!

I took him for 111 as well. He is wonderful and maximizes learning through preparation assignments which are strengthened by the in-class lectures and discussions. He values learning and discussion, and will help you if you need extra help. He likes to make jokes, which keeps things light and discussion flowing. He is clear about expectations too.

You can hardly find a professor as dedicated to his students as Dr. Thayne; he is constantly seeking to improve his course. While his teaching is often sporadic, he is very clear about what the objectives and key outcomes are. The concepts of cognition are learned outside of class via readings and videos, while in class the concepts are applied.

This professor is really good at trying to get participation from the class and very thoughtful when it comes to his students. There's a lot of reading in this course and the assignments are always open ended questions & paragraphs are expected. His lectures are good, they're just information heavy and he doesn't post his powerpoints.

The structure of the class is you do a preparation assignment before class, then in class, you discuss the same things you read. At the end of every week, there is a small assessment, but he does this so you don't have to take any big tests. I really enjoyed his class

He is pretty quirky, but his lectures are fun and he loves questions. The reading starts off heavier and gets easier and the subject is really interesting. Homework is small continuous worksheets. Class is fun and you have the basis to learn a lot. If you need ur hand held to learn material you might need to go to the tutor more for this one.

I really enjoyed having Brother Thayne as a professor. Weekly assessments were a pain at first, but they helped me learn easier and it makes for easier learning because you have to cram less. The objectives on his preclass preparation worksheets are exactly what is tested on so it was easy to study for, in combination with his quizlet. Great class!

Honestly this class was super easy, just make sure you do the readings. There are readings and a preparation assignment due the night before each class and there is a proctored assessment at the end of each week for what you learned. It doesn't take that long though. I would recommend this class, especially if you need it for gen ed credits.

Any class period is always about what we studied the day before for homework. It's helpful because the homework is only graded on completion and showing effort that we tried. Then in class we are able to clarify the topics that were confusing or hard to understand.

Brother Thayne is an amazing psychology teacher! He has fantastic in-person classes. The discussions are student-led, but Brother Thayne is careful never to let it stray beyond the lesson. In this way, he makes sure that all the students get their questions answered while not forcing a lecture down their throats. He is super kind as well.

Brother Thayne is clearly passionate about his job and cares a lot about his students. His class is challenging with weekly exams and lots of reading. My main suggestion is to be clearer on grading criteria and what he considers to be acceptable answers on exams. He taught me the phrase "expressive individualism," which will haunt me until I die.

The only thing that I don't like about this class is the assessments aka weekly tests. They are not hard, but it is almost impossible to get them all right . It could be the TA tho, but the criteria is not the best one. Bro Thayne will give examples that you will remember easily. One of best courses I have taken so far!

You have discussions about the reading, but I honestly think that if you do the readings you could pass the class without attending. Pretty easy professor, not my favorite but super easy.

Brother Thayne is a great professor. This is my second class from him, and each time I took a class from him, the class structure remained the same. It isn't the most difficult course, but it is very eye-opening. PSYCH376 is a very interesting course, and he does a great job at keeping it interesting. Just be sure to memorize the vocab each week!

He's an interesting guy but really passionate and likes the material a lot. There are 3 assignments weekly with an assessment which is all just using vocab in context and explaining it. The class is discussion based and a little scattered but if you engage and don't let your mind wander you can get a lot out of the class.

The professor has great lectures and doesn't have a midterm, only a final. There are weekly quizzes (non-proctored) that are free response. However, I learned more from these quizzes than if it were multiple choice. His lectures are easy to follow and are more discussion based which I personally like. Overall, would recommend Dr. Thayne for psych.

Brother Thayne was an incredible professor. I wish he taught more classes! He gives the right amount of homework to help you learn and apply the concepts learned without feeling overworked. There is heavier reading at the beginning of the semester, but don't fear, he lightens the load as the semester goes on. (He plans his course this way ;P)

The first few weeks have a lot of reading (about 60 pages) but amount decreases to a manageable 20 to 25 pages. The lectures are interesting and learned a lot. Brother Thayne is very knowledgeable about Cognition. He is also willing to work with you if things come up. Overall, it was a very interesting class, and I would take this class again.

The course started with a lot of reading, but it gets easier throughout the semester. Class attendance is mandatory and is helpful if you go and ask questions about terms you don't understand. But it did feel like it was a waste of time when I had a decent understanding of the terms.

Instead of lecturing he promotes discussion and gives students the opportunity to ask questions and show what they have learned from the preparation assignments. So it is very important to do the readings before class so you can participate and know what is going on.

Jeffrey is a great professor. Due to the level of the course, it is a lot of heavy reading. The classes are so fascinating. He is strict in the sense that you need a genuine reason to submit an assignment late. He brings psychology and the gospel together that I did not know about before. I did not like that the class is a heavy reading.

He gives you access to all of the material well ahead of time, with plenty of opportunity to learn everything at your own pace (as long as you do actually learn the material).

You will have to pay attention a bit more if you struggle with that kind of thing. He has a few haters on the surveys because he goes on the occasional tangent, but they always tie into the class content.

Mr. Thayne is my absolute favorite psychology teacher. His lectures are clear and on topic, and the homework he gives is actually helpful. He assigns one worksheet (usually 1-2 pages) every class period. As long as you reference the textbook as you do them, it's super easy to get full points on all of them, and they prepare you for the exams well.

I really liked Brother Thayne and they way he taught. He would relate the things we were learning to our lives and to the gospel. Before class we had to complete an assignment and they took about 30min each. There were also weekly assessments, but I never thought they were too bad, they probably took me 20min each. Overall a great teacher. Often would start late from tangents of things going in in the world and in ai but always covered all the material and was generally on interesting things. Tests and quizzes often took a long time and were fairly easy yet could be a different score depending on who graded it as it was all essay questions using the vocab.

Assignments are done before class, there is some reading and a short video lecture on vocabulary terms. After the reading, there is a preparation assignment that you must complete and submit the night before class. During class, Brother Thayne will answer any questions from the reading, any concerns, and conduct a discussion about the vocabulary.

If you love psychology and Star Trek, this class is for you. Brother Thayne makes the class fun and engaging. I sometimes found the in-class lectures unnecessary as the assignments already taught me everything I needed to know. There are also assessments due every week, but they are worth it as they allow you to firmly grasp the concepts.

Classes are fun and low pressure. The prep material can be pretty hefty, it took me 1-3 hours per prep assignment. The first month the readings were about 50 pages per class, but after that book they get shorter. Tests and assignments are all free response questions. The concepts were all review from psych111, so I found it easy, sometimes boring.

I took Cognition with Brother Thayne. I love his teaching method, I had never adapted to regular school methods but he has the terms very well explained, he has before-class videos explaining the materials, the weekly assessments help us apply the terms to situations and all those things help us really learn the material, not only memorize terms.

This class had a pretty heavy workload, and to be honest it could be really dry if not for Brother Thayne. He helped make the class interesting and helped connect the principles to real applications to make the course kinda mind blowing on a lot of the days.

Brother Thayne is a great professor, you definitely get out what you put into his class but the material is super cool so it's not hard to like the class. He's super willing to work with you if you need help, it also adds a nice touch that he's like super nerdy and talks about Star Trek all the time. He's just a really fun guy.

I have enjoyed Brother Thayne's class! While I am not a fan of his homework assignments, he makes them very meaningful in class and is always willing to answer questions. I like his approach to Cognition; he allows us to discuss our thoughts and provides useful examples. Do the homework and study for the weekly assessments and you'll do great.

Brother Thayne is by far the best professor I have ever had. His class is well organized and his lectures are helpful, interesting, and interactive. I've never had the most interest or success in school but in both general psych and cognition I have had no problems because his classes and the way he teaches are both so engaging and well formatted.

The only flaw I see is that the structure of the course can be boring. The homework and the lectures mirror each other. I wish he would make class time different and more engaging in some way.

Brother Thayne is hilarious and fun to be with! His classes and assignments are always so insightful and thought provoking. He holds debates in class sometimes which is exciting. He has a passion for psychology and for teaching. This class was cognition and I have learned so much!

I love brother Thayne! His homework assignments and assessments were a bit more difficult, but I didn't mind because they were so effective with helping me learn the material. His in class lectures were always so interesting and I felt like class always went by so fast! He loves to have fun with his students and you can tell he is passionate.

Brother Thayne has a big heart and is the good kind of nerd. He will reference Star Trek frequently and make references to his kids and his wife. You can tell he has his priorities straight and doesn't treat an education as a cut-and-dry system. He realizes that real learning requires much more than what many have come to believe. Professor Thayne is an engaging teacher, and makes the information that you're learning interesting. He does go off on tangents sometimes, but I wouldn't say that that's a bad thing in his case. It just makes it more comfortable

Brother Thayne is great! He cares about his students and wants them to succeed in his class. Lots of reading the first 3 weeks of class but after that, it becomes easier. Not a lot of work compared to other classes and it's very easy to understand. 10/10 class.

Preparation assignments are due the night before every class. The readings for prep assignments can be time-consuming, but they are manageable and improve class discussions. There are also weekly assessments that are written responses. It is time-consuming but not terribly difficult as long as you study and understand the application of the terms.

If you attend class and take notes you will do great! Make sure to do the readings and get ready to write a lot.

Thayne is easygoing and will explain any issues he has in advance. His lectures are detailed and he enjoys explaining the concepts of the class. My only complaint is the slow grading and lack of feedback on assignments. I imagine he would be willing to go over assignments in office hours (I haven't asked). You will read for multiple hours a week.

Brother Thayne is a gem of a human soul and genuinely cares about what he teaches. His classes are fun to go to because I learn and he happens to be one of those professors that doesn't have us look at PowerPoints the whole hour, but rather have engaging class discussions. Brother Thayne is one of my favorite professors I have taken! His lectures are really interesting and he covers material well. There's an assessment a week, but I feel that they deepen my learning and makes the terms stick. He does random attendance but I would rather him take attendance every time if he's going to have attendance as a grade.

Brother Thayne is awesome. He's one of those professors that doesn't just use powerpoints and lectures but he actually has his students participate in class and we have fun and engaging class discussions. And he's not afraid to tell you when you're wrong.

First semester of the ethics class and it was great. Class time is all group discussion and homework/reading done beforehand as prep, not overly difficult and no busy work. Bro Thayne is very insightful, honest, caring and open to new ideas.

Brother Thayne is Hilarious. Super kind and does a good job managing the classroom environment. He's one of the few Professors that if you just show up and listen to his lectures you'll grasp a majority of the concepts. He cares, clearly works hard outside of the classroom, and everything he does is geared towards you genuinely LEARNING.

At first I was worried about the five books we were assigned to read, but we didn't need to read the whole book. He involves the whole class in discussions. There is never a day I don't laugh in his class. He is very insightful and is always willing to meet you where you are at. We haven't had a single test all semester. I highly recommend him.

I had a great experience with Brother Thayne! He is a great teacher, and I found attending his lectures very helpful in understanding some of the material I did not quite understand from the reading. That additional explanation is very helpful. Be prepared to take lots of notes, there's an exam every week on all the material learned so far.

Thayne is a weird nerd, but in a good way. His class is a TON of reading, but you can get by with skimming and summaries. His lectures are fun, he uses so many videos and puzzles and exercises to illustrate concepts. The weekly assessments he gives are time consuming, but if you paid attention in class or did the reading you will be okay.

It's pretty well known that he often gets off topic, but he's so amazing at what he does. He is so passionate about psychology, and he tries to explain things as easily as possible for students. Such as spaz sometimes so make sure to do the pre-class readings because not everything is covered in class. This is my 2nd time taking him!

I took his class last semester, and I still think about all of the things that I learned in his class. He also is very engaging. I highly recommend.
