Horrible teacher! He treats eveyone like they are in 5th grade! Super anal rentitive! If someone even whispers he stops the class!!! He is a black or white type of person. Worried more about covering all the content in syllabus than understanding the concepts!
the project for this course is a lot of work. He is a difficult grader and his tests are hard. he is also kin of a jerk, he makes you wait until the break to come in if you are late, berrates you in front of the class if your phone rings or he sees you looking at it, and he doesn't let you take notes on your laptop. i would consider taking someone
the project for this course is a lot of work. Class is not a cakewalk, but very interesting. He knows his stuff very much and has real world experience which is so valuable. Take him is you want to learn and be challenged, but not to a breaking point degree. : )
This class is so hard. Take another professor if possible!!! He is so impersonal and is like talking to a robot. Not very compassionate at all and his tests are way way way too difficult!
He has a lot of real world experience which is a plus and he really wants students to learn. I short essay portions of his exams are quite straightforward but the multiple choice is cumbersome. He is a nice guy, however his anal retentive personality and makes it hard for me to recommend him.
I wouldn't take this class. While he is very smart and experienced he expects WAY too much. He watches you like a hawk in class making it stressful to be there at all, but is very strict about attendance. The project is WAY too much work and harder than the other MKT301 classes. His tests are also really difficult.
Very picky and doesn't take into account other opinions or possible answers than his own.
He is awful, it is like talking to a robot. He is very stiff and not relaxed. He needs to get a social life i think. way too strict, have Prof. Black come and teach instead, at least she is nice to look at.
i loved this class. the tests are easy 4 short essays- choose 3. then a few common sense multile choice. attendance counts. he is a stickler for the rules and is very adamant about staying on schedule, but he tries to make everything interesting and involve everyone. he seems very knowledgeable and is clearly passionate about the subject.
DO NOT BE LATE TO HIS CLASS! He is a nice guy but he is very picky and boring. I had his for a once a week class and we NEVER got out early, EVER. I probably would not take his class again. Also if you do take the class read the text book, and he'll be happy. Just a note, he looks like Bob Saget....
Too serious! He makes Marketing SO HARD when it's actually the easiest thing in business. He's a good professor, explains well but VERY hard! His exams are crazy and not clear at all. There are FOUR essays on all his exams and 30 multiple choice! Do NOT take him under any circumstances :) or you'll regret it! he shouldn't be teaching freshman!
Very skilled teacher and extremely knowledgeable. Tons of industry experience. Fairly easy if you go to class, listen, and takes notes. Very strict about being on time and not having cell phones out. Laptops are allowed though.
Stresses over and over about how lenient he is with the essays he grades, but that is a LIE. VERY hard grader despite how he says he's not. Tests are VERY difficult, some chapters he says that are going to be on it end up not on the test at all! Good at explaining things in class though
I really enjoyed his class. He genuinely cares about his students, and he's brilliant. He has a different method of teaching, which includes cases, a group simulation, lectures, and multimedia. It's easy to get a B+ in the class, but you have to put in the time if you want an A.
he is a good professor but very strict. even though i didnt got the grade I expected i can say that it was worth taking his class. you are going to do well in this class if you take notes, read the book and attendance.
It was a great class overall. At first, I was not sure about his class because he is very strict with attendance (for example, he will not let you in if you come to class late). But he is one of the best professors I have had at the U. He cares about his students and his class is so interesting that i am taking another marketing class! TAKE IT!
Great teacher. Not an easy class but his lectures are so interesting.
One of the best professors i have ever had. Teaches clearly and passionately and truly cares about his students. If you put in the work and effort you will do well and he will recognize your efforts and help you wherever and whenever you need it. Pay attention and take good notes, read the chapters and you will get an A if not A+. great guy.
GREAT class to take! One of the best professors at UM in my opinion. He's had so much experience in Marketing and has a lot of connections. Really cares about students, and class is never boring. Class wasn't mandatory, but I never missed one because I loved it so much! Great guy, definitely take his class!!
I've never rated a professor before but i felt compelled. fantastic teacher and overall great guy. very helpful and concise. lots of experience and interesting stories to add to lectures. not sure if attendance is mandatory? but this is one of the few classes i NEVER miss (and for me that's really saying something...)
Weinstock is the MAN. Awesome professor, very clear in everything he does. He is very knowledgeable about the subject appropriately so. This was the first class I received all A's in. The course is somewhat challenging due to the amount of content, but study hard and READ BEFORE EVERY CLASS, it helps so much.
Very wise man who took his passion as his job. Knows his stuff but his tests are not easy, you have to know everything he says in class and the chapters in the books that goes for the test. He curves and is a fair grader. Very interesting proffesor, take this class if knowing more is more important for you than having a better grade
Very nice professor. He makes the material really interesting with stories and personal experiences. He is a bit strict but definitely worth taking. You actually learn. Read the book and you should do well. Attendance is mandatory.
One of my favorite professors ever! He is very strict about getting there on time, but honestly I'm not into interruptions either. He will also answer any questions you have without hesitation. He loves what he does and it shows! If you read the book and go over your notes, you will be fine.
Extremely helpful and passionate about marketing. Stimulates interests and teaches very effectively through examples and analogies. His extensive experience in the professional world makes him a bit of a stickler with attendance, phones, and being on time, but totally worth it. One of the best profs at UM for sure.
One of the best professors i've ever had at UM. Truly passionate about marketing and has a great teaching style. If you don't take Weinstock for this class you are missing out.
Absolutely love him! Changed my major just because of him. He knows his stuff, is very experienced & takes considerable interest in his students. Wouldn't think twice before taking him for any MKT class he offers!
Took two of his classes. I wouldn't have even considered the second if I hadn't taken the first and seen the value he adds. He's an expert in the field who gave up a lucrative corporate career to teach. Excellent at illustrating concepts. Just a highly intelligent, type-A guy. Do not take his classes if you chose marketing expecting to skate by.
Jeffrey Weinstock is truly an inspirational professor. Incredibly intelligent, charismatic and super well prepared for classes. He combines the best two parts of the world: phenomenal professional experience ( and truly great teaching skills. This professor encourages you to push your own limits. I loved his class.
The most A-type person I have ever met and extremely not understanding. Do not take him if you want to graduate.
Mr. Weinstock is the best marketing professor at the University of Miami. His high expectations make the class more challenging than some others but his passion make the class worthwhile. If you are serious about Marketing you should take his classes because you will learn the most from Weinstock.
Never in my 14 years of education have I met someone so passionate about what they are teaching. If you are a marketing student you MUST take Weinstock. Extremely knowledgeable guy that gave up a very, very profitable career to teach because he loves it so much. Not the easiest class, but if you study a bit before the 3 exams you can get an A.
Weinstock is a good teacher but thinks he's a hardo. Attendance is mandatory and gives a lot of readings. Tests are pretty tough and he expects a lot from you. He's not a bad teacher but is tough and you have to attend class
Prof. Weinstock is awesome if you are interested in marketing. If you are just taking marketing because it's required you probably won't like him because he's strict about attendance, phones, participation, etc. However he was incredibly successful in the field and teaches the material in a very engaging way. He also helps students find jobs!!!
At first, you may not like him and wonder why he gets such great reviews. Then you'll realize he lives and dies marketing and wants nothing more than for you to succeed. He treats you like an adult because he's molding you to be one. He's what every teacher should be. He's an inspiration to his students, highly knowledgeable, and truly caring.
He is a really intelligent professor and you will learn a lot but his tests are extremely hard. They contain multiple choice and essays. There are definitely easier professors but if you are willing to work definitely take his class. The group projects are easy but he makes the groups. Has tons of office hours and will go over any tests.
He is my favorite teacher of all time! He knows a lot about marketing, and he is really happy to answer questions. It's not an easy class, but if you read the book and go to class you'll get an A.
Prof. Weinstock is one of the best professors I've had during my academic career. How can you not wish to take his class when he's a Yale grad with experience at multiple Fortune 500 companies? It should be noted that he takes punctuality and attendance very seriously, but you will not want to miss a single minute of his enriching lectures.
Prof Weinstock is by my favorite teacher. He acknowledges that his class is more difficult then the other pre req marketing classes but it's because he wants you to actually absorb the information he is teaching. If your a marketing major he is a must. He is an expert in his field and his lectures are amazing. Work your hardest. Expect a curve
I love Professor Weinstock. He knows so much about marketing and is really passionate about sharing it with his students. He inspires me to want to do and learn marketing. He is tough, but I think it's worth it.
Hes a really tough grader but his lectures are amazing! If youre willing to work really hard and put all your time and effort into one class then I recommend him
Weinstock is a marketing genius and is clearly very passionate about what he teaches. Fantastic teacher, except he definitely is a tough grader. Take great notes and pay attention in class while keeping up with the readings and you'll do well in the class and learn a lot.
Had Prof. Weinstock for MKT 201, he is one of the best professors you will find at UM. It does not take you more than being on time every class and reading the chapter in advance to understand everything he will explain during his lectures. Take notes in class, ask him questions if you don't understand, and you should be good to go. Great professor
First off, Prof Weinstock is absolutely AMAZING. He may seem like a headass at first, but it is only because he wants to push you to succeed. He has an extreme passion for marketing which is evident in his engaging lectures. Always be on top of your stuff though because he'll call you out if you didn't read. Weinstock is the best mkt prof ever!!
Definitely the best marketing professor. Make sure to read the chapters he assigns because he'll call you out when you least expect it. He makes the class so interesting and is a great professor overall.
So delightful! Seriously, a truly inspiring & caring professor. The class was pretty simple as well, if you want an A all you have to do is pay attention to his lectures and take great notes, the tests are based mainly on this and a few cases from the textbook. If you ever need clarification just talk to him and he'll help. Group project sucks tho!
I'm shocked to see any good reviews. His class was horrible and his attitude and energy are even worse! He doesn't have any power points and doesn't write anything on the board. His tests are based on his lectures. You're expected to write every word he says as fast and he says it. He is a true narcissistic. AVOID AVOID AVOID and you will thank me!
AMAZING. Yeah he expects effort & readings done but just by listening to lectures you're basically 85% prepared for his exams. Very fair, even if he may come off intimidating at first. Very accessible and knowledgable. Hard work but enjoyable lectures and very helpful
He definitively is not an easy professor but I would highly recommend him especially if you are a marketing major. He is very good at explaining all the concepts and as long as you pay attention to lectures and do the readings you will do fine. He really cares about his students and is very passionate about marketing and teaching.
The best professor I ever had!!!!!!! His lectures are so interesting and he is very passionate about marketing. Take good notes, study for the exams and you will do well. My favorite class ever.
Professor Weinstock is one of the best marketing professors I have had at UM. He has so much to offer in his lectures and is genuinely passionate about marketing and teaching. He will make you work for it, but if you put in effort and go to class you will do fine. He cares so much about his students!
Professor Weinstock knows a ton about marketing, but he makes it so difficult for students to do well. If you're looking to get into marketing whether that be a major or minor, don't start your first class off with him. You'll find yourself discouraged and frustrated by the end. Stay away unless you absolutely have to take him. It's not worth it.
Hes such a great proffessor and definitely knows his stuff, but he is a tough grader his classes and exams are all discussion based. The exams are all about what he talks about in class, he does not post the recorded lecture. You basically have to go to class to pass the class. Participation is extremely imp and he will randomly pick on you.
Professor Weinstock is hands down one of the best professors Ive ever had. Its not an easy class you can breeze through but you learn so much. His lectures are interesting and filled with info make sure you take good notes. He gives a participation grade which is based off answering questions in class so you have to read the chapter ahead of time
This is a really difficult class but I learned more about marketing in this class than I did my previous three years. You have to put in a lot of work but its definitely worth it if you want to learn more about marketing.
He is a genuinely good teacher, very passionate about marketing. Extremely stingy about his classroom policies which is annoying, but you will definitely learn a lot in his class. Take good notes and listen attentively in lectures, and you should do well. Lots of textbook reading too.
I have never had somebody stress me out so much in my life. Genuinely was on the verge of a mental breakdown because of his class. I went to every lecture except for one, read every chapter, and still did not pass with an A. He actually failed me for participation. BEWARE of Weinstock. If you want to make ur semester hell, take him.
Professor Weinstock is a clearly informed teacher -his experience in the Marketing industry is obvious as he makes his lectures extremely informative. You HAVE to read every chapter in the book and you HAVE to attend class and be willing to speak up or you wont pass. Once you get past his extreme Covid rules, youll enjoy his class a lot.
Great Professor. Yes the class is a little challenging, yes you're going to actually have to do work but you will learn a lot and develop a liking to the guy. Can be a little annoying or stand offish in the beginning but he's passionate about marketing and puts that passion into your learning.
Professor Weinstock is great! His class is mostly lectures and discussions about the cases which are interesting (for the most part). There's 2 exams based on the cases and lectures. And a group project that revolves around a simulation. Overall, if you read the cases and show up to class you'll be good.
Would no reccomend to anyone!!
If you want an easy credit, avoid him. He is one of the best professors at UM, but he is a tough grader. No attendance, but you need to answer questions in class to earn the participation grade. 2 exam both open questions. He doesn't use PPT which means you need to go to every class to take notes. You need to study really hard to pass this class.
Waste of time! look for other professors!
Look for another professor especially if you are not an auditory learner. You can only hand write your notes and there are no power points or anything he just talks the whole class. It was Honestly very boring, and was no fun to take such a class senior year. I studied my notes for multiple days and still got a C on the first exam.
Weinstock was the worst professor I had at UM and it wasn't particularly close. The class itself was pretty average but as an instructor he shows an intense disrespect for his students. Class always ran late, he enforces his rules but can't hold himself to any standards. I believe I received a good grade but I would never take him again.
Extremely tough tests and just constant note taking.
Save yourself and take someone else. He does cold calling which spikes ur anxiety like no other. His tests are so hard and if you dont memorize the entire textbook you won't pass. You can't use technology in his class either and he has super strict rules that he is mean about sometimes. However, he is very passionate and definitely knows marketing.
Respective to the other MKT 201 professors, Weinstock is either the hardest or one of the hardest in terms of expectations and breadth of material you're required to learn though. He is incredibly smart and has some pretty fun anecdotes, but sometimes I did wish he covered more of the material we would be tested on than spending on examples.
If you want an easy professor, get another instructor. Professor Weinstock is fair but challenging. You'll be fine if you keep up with the lectures and follow the syllabus. Participation and attendance are really important; take those items seriously. If you like to prepare before classes, I recommend this professor 100%.
He is a good professor.
Professor Weinstock has a really good understanding of the material, and he explains the concepts in an easy-to-understand way. However, he is a very particular, difficult person. There is a zero tolerance policy for any technology in the class, so get ready to write all your notes with pen and paper. All exams are difficult, too. He embodies 3/5.
Amazing teacher and lecturer. Hard tests but the class gets curved. Participation matters a lot. If you pay attention and participate you can do well in this class and learn a lot.
Professor Weinstock is a very good teacher. He cares about the course and his students and explains concepts and models very well. I will say if you really like marketing then take him, but if you aren't as interested I would look for someone else. It is a lot of work outside the classroom having to read a chapter before each class.
Weinstock is very difficult when it comes to content. Be prepared to read and take notes on chapters before the test. He does not allow technology so be prepared to take hand written notes. However, I would recommend taking the class. Weinstock is tough, but he makes you learn and work hard for your grades. His lectures are engaging as well.
Weinstock is the most difficult MKT201 professor. With that being said, he is the best professor I have ever had. He speaks from experience and genuinely loves teaching. If you are willing to put in a lot of work (an insane amount of textbook reading) and participate every class, you will love him and learn a lot. He is very funny and engaging.
One of the smartest Professors I have ever had. He is super knowledgeable and his class is interesting but he is by far the hardest MKT 201 Professor. In order to do well, you must be willing to spend hours reading the textbook and studying for tests. Many other marketing classes are blowoffs but this class was my heaviest workload of the semester.
Great professor. Exams seem hard but they're on a curve
Do not recommend taking a course with Professor Weinstock, he is very knowledgeable and has a great understanding of marketing but as a professor, he is not recommended. As much as you pay attention and read chapters the test are extremely difficult.
Very hard do not take this class.
This teacher cares. Attendance is mandatory, must raise your hand EVERY class, and tests are impossible. No tech allowed whatsoever, must take notes by hand. No final but a group project and presentation on Zoom during the final time slot. Curves final grades at end of semester to a "B" average.
Please do not take him. This man takes his job way too seriously for teaching a freshman level course. He expects us to be marketing experts. He cold calls students each class and there is a lot of readings to do. The exams are confusing at times. If you read the textbook and pay attention in class you should be fine, but try to take someone else.
Prof. Weinstock genuinely cares about his students and is passionate about marketing. He assigns lots of notes, but as long as you stay on top of them, you should do just fine in class and on tests. Tests are hard but graded on a curve based on class averages. Group assignments are easy as long as you carefully follow instructions.
goat, smartest prof I have ever had, by far hardest mkt201 class however so you gotta grind studying to get an A
Professor Weinstock is truly the GOAT. He is very knowledgeable about marketing and communicates the material in a understandable way. He also truly cares about teaching and gives great feedback on the group projects. However, he does not mess around with the participation grade so just raise your hand and try to participate every class you can.
Do not take
One of the hardest classes I have ever taken for no reason. Super textbook heavy. Tests are hard and will ask you about niche case studies only in the book that were not discussed in class.
