Colbert is a great professor for countless reasons but what I appreciated most was when I passed him on the sidewalk 2 semesters after taking his course and he not only remembered my name, out of a class of 100, but took the time to stop and ask me how things were going

He's definitely a good instructor and very helpful. Out of all of my instructors, he was the most particular on grading. His classes aren't easy, but enjoyable nontheless.

His tests are straight from the study guide and only cover about 25% of what he puts on there. The tests are VERY short and sweet and he is so funny in class.

great professor tells great stories and really able to help every student understand our somewhat complex system of gov but don't be fooled his tests are essay intensive and he's a stickler for details in them the more you have the better GO TO CLASS!!!!!

The tests are essays from a study guide. Go to class, he is great! And buy the book, it does help and you will use it. There is a big group project, and it is time consuming.

Mr.Colbert is really awesome. This is my favorite class ever and he really makes it interesting. There are really great stories and he goes out of his way to make you understand. He's a funny, great guy. If you pay attention, he'll be more willing to help you and you'll understand everthing better.

The class would be very easy if it weren't for the project. The project takes alot of planning and weekly outside-of-class time but it is one of the best experiences I've had in college. Colbert is a GREAT TEACHER who respects hard, and quality work. Take this class by all means. I am a physics major and it's changed my view of science policy.

Jeff was very funny and helpful. He makes the class interesting, but is strict about the quality of papers. He definitely challenges you. The only thing I was unhappy about was that he made us all check out 3 books, and we never used two of them.

If you are going to take this class then you should try your hardest to get him! I never even cared about or understood the whole political thing but know that i have had him as a teacher i understand a lot more even though he is a hard grader if you pay attention in his class you will know exactly what answer that he want! He is a great teacher and is also very funny! He can tie chinese food into a political issues class tell me who else can do that! He is great

Great teacher. He's very funny and helpful. You have to go to class and take a few notes to pass the class. Gives pop quizzes with questions like "what color is my shirt" on days when nobody shows up. Hands out study guides and tests are verbatim. Tests are essay and short answer form.

Great teacher. Very funny. He is straight up with you and that is all you need. One of the only professor who actually gives you a study guide for the test and it is the same exact thing on there. Make sure you take him. AWESOME :-)

It was a really good class, hard work, and he is also very understanding. He is their for you, and even though the group project is absolutely dreadful, you learn a lot and it provides a hands on approach.

Mr. Colbert is by far the best professor that I've had since I have been a student at UNC-G. He is a lot of fun, and you learn so much in his class. Every political science major should take Colbert for at least one of their classes!!!!

A true Tarheel fan!!! Came to visit my son when he was born at DUKE and wore Carolina Blue. Great prof and is the reason I went into teaching. When I don't grade tests on time I always say "at least I'm not as late as Mr Colbert." Yes the Group project is still a topic of stress and I turned mine in over 12 years ago. :)

this teacher spends time being funny and telling jokes that he could better use reinforcing the material. Takes around 3 to 4 weeks to return tests and assignments. most of the time you take one test without seeing the last. Grades unusually hard for this level of class. You might think you got an A but then you get slammed with a D.

One of the best professors I have ever had. Funny and Interesting and makes the material stick. You have to come to class and the tests are tricky but as long as you study you will be fine!

I loved this class. Professor Colbert is awesome. He teaches very easily. His tests come straight from the notes, so just come to class, take notes, and study the study guide and you're set for the class. He is a very interesting teacher and cares for his students.

Colbert is funny and makes the class interesting. His tests are kind of hard - mult. choice, short answer, and essay and he doesn't quite give enough time to take the test. But he does give a study guide and sometimes tells you what the essay will be so if you just study you'll do fine!

you will want to take a class with mr. colbert. you learn a lot and believe it or not political science can be really interesting. he's a great teacher and once you take his class, he'll be there for you throughout your entire 4 years at uncg!

Mr. Colbert (SANTA CLAUSE) is a wonderful teacher. I call him Mr. Clause, because he looks just like him. Mr. Colberts keeps this class very interesting and uses current examples to depict complex concepts. I reccommend taking this course even if you just want to become informed about the Government that dictates your life.

I loved this class!! Very funny teacher. Used the book frequently. I never read, just showed up everyday and took great notes! He does take FOREVER to return grades, but the class is fun if you love politics!!

Fat and Funny. The last "paper" if you want to call it that is a cake walk. All you have to do is write a 1 and a half page paper on what you learned in class. YOU MUST DO THE READINGS! He grades tough, but is always willing to take the time to help you understand.

His exams consisted of lecture content more than the text books; however, he used the text more than other professors that I've had. You will learn a lot but pay attention and read. He's pretty laid-back but his tests are little hard because the short essay questions force you to think and write a lot. He's also funny, which helps!

He's awesome. Just a little harsh on the exams. He's understanding if you have a problem with them though. And he's always willing to help you with other problems outside of college. Awesome professor!

Amazing person and teacher. Absolutely loved this class and had no interest in taking it at first. Tests are so easy as long as you take notes and do your study guide. There will not be one question on the test that he did not tell you would be on the study guide. Be very detailed in the Essay part of the test. Super easy quizzes. Loved his class!

This class is hard if you make it. It consists of three exams and maybe some hw assignments. He gives study guides that helps prepare for the tests. He grades EXTREMELY hard and his tests are composed of multiple choice, short answer, and essay. Overall I liked this course. If youre not ready to understand politics, then dont take this class

He makes class fun, it's never boring because you are engaged with in the class. There are few homework assignments, and tests are 90% of your grade BUT!!! He gives you study guides, which has the EXSACT information on the test. So nothing is a surprise. The tests are hard but as long as you study and pay attention in class often you should be ok.

Mr. Colbert is great! He's super helpful if you need help with anything to do with the class. He's been around the university so long that he can help you with other faculty members too. Be sure to study, pay attention and show up. Tests take a long time and you have to show up to class or you'll get behind.

Colbert is soo awesome. I loved the class and the material was excellent. He made you want to come to class and learn the material. Could be picky with grading at times but thats ok. He truly loves what he does and is very hilarious in class. Would take him again but I have taken both of his classes :( lol

Test are 90% of your grade but the study guides he gives out are EXACTLY whats on the test. His personality is great, and the fact that he really cares and loves being at UNCG shows. He is funny and makes his lectures are entertaining as possible. Each test consists of multiple choice, short answer, and an essay.

Prof. Colbert is a great teacher. He is extremely clear, keeps class interesting, and while it may not seem like it because of his strictness, he is very friendly. Make sure you go to class, take notes, and study what's on the study guides, and you'll do well in his class.

Colbert is the most incredible professor. He truly cares about the students, and is very funny and wise. You HAVE to study and understand your notes because the tests make up 90% of your grade so make sure you study hard.

Colbert is INCREDIBLE. He is by far my favorite UNCG professor. You actually LEARN from his class. The tests are a bit tough, but if you listen in class and study your notes you should be fine. This man knows his stuff, and is excellent at what he does.

An amazing professor who really wants you to succeed. He is so intelligent about politics it's not even funny. Gives pop quizzes, but always announced. Gives exact study guide for test 72 hours prior, however, a very hard grader. Don't let that stop you from taking his classes though! You'll love him.

Talk about a wakeup call! This entry-level course is the most comprehensive blast of knowledge I've ever seen in a college class. If you don't already have knowledge of how our system works, or are on the fence about how seriously to take PoliSci, you'll find out by the first test for sure. Very likable guy who loves to see students succeed.

Colbert is a fantastic professor! Do what you're supposed to and you will do fine in his class. He does so much for the political science department and I highly recommend him. Get to know him!! His connections are very helpful both in college and post graduation!

As an international exchange student with no idea on how American politcs works, i took this class to take up credit space. After only one semester in Colbert's class, i feel like an expert on American politics. He really knows what he is talking about and has a real passion for the subject. Attend his class, and you will succeed. Thankyou Jef!

I took this class to fulfill credit and this ended up being one of the hardest classes I took freshman year. Overall, this class was great but there is a lot of information you need to remember. You have to do service learning and a "journal" that connects back to class criteria. We had a few papers and a few tests. The tests were difficult for me

Hands down the best professor I have had. His lectures are hilarious and informative. Tests are easy if you study hard enough. Gives a decent study guide for his tests. Gives a lot of reading assignments and a good number of quizzes.

I'm taking a government class for grad credit and somehow this man actually makes it interesting and understandable. If I have the choice, I will literally take no other professor's class in the political science department, even if I wish attendance wasn't mandatory so I could sleep in. Still, it's not even a class worth missing.

He's a hard Professor but it's to get you ready for the real world. There's a large group project. (30-35 pg policy proposal paper), mandatory team meetings 2hrs/week 1 day a week. Pick your teams ASAP so you don't get stuck w/whomever is left over. He's a stickler for following directions. That said he's fair, funny, sarcastic & I appreciate him.

He's a pretty good prof but the grading is worrisome. The "instructions" are clear, but it is also vey clear that giving out A's are rare for him; I'm literally in the top 100 students at my uni right now and I got an 88 on the first test, which I actually did study for, due to the insane amounts we are required to memorize.

This course was one of the first I took at UNCG's political science department. Mr. Colbert was a down to earth, bright, and enthusiastic instructor from start to finish. Some of content and assignments was rough, but he was always quick to help whenever and wherever he could. Fantastic class.

I took this class last year during the fall but I completely forgot to rate him. Mr. Colbert is a wonderful man. I had him as my advisor too since I am in the political science department and he is such a great teacher. His lectures are exactly like the pop quizzes, tests, and exams. He adds stories in his lectures to make them fun but on topic!
